Today marks your and Noah’s four-year anniversary, and boy, did he go all out. As a man with golden retriever energy, his love language is giving, and he certainly showed it today. From the minute you woke up, he was pampering you. Your day started with brunch in bed; Noah served you your favorite breakfast foods along with his version of bottomless mimosas. The tray was filled with freshly baked pancakes, fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and a small fruit platter that looked like it belonged in a magazine. He refilled your glass with a smile, ensuring you had everything. Every detail, from the freshly squeezed orange juice to the perfectly chilled champagne, was meticulously prepared to make you feel cherished and adored. As you enjoyed the delicious meal, he sat beside you, his eyes shining with joy and affection, soaking in every moment of your happiness. This was just the beginning of a day filled with love and surprises.
After your giant breakfast, he hurried you into the shower, where he joined you. The warm water cascaded over both of you as he gently helped you wash your hair, his fingers working through the strands tenderly. He gave you a scalp massage that felt like a full-body experience, his hands skillfully kneading away any tension. Every touch was deliberate, ensuring no part of you was left untouched or unworshipped. He moved with loving precision, his hands gliding over your skin, leaving a trail of warmth and relaxation. The intimacy of the moment, combined with the soothing rhythm of the water, made you feel cherished and adored. This was more than just a shower; it was an act of love, a celebration of your bond.
After begrudgingly leaving the shower, you both got dressed for a day full of fun and laughter. He took you everywhere, and anywhere you wanted to go. Your first stop was a romantic trip to the aquarium, where you marveled at your favorite sea animals. The gentle swaying of the jellyfish, the otters' playful antics, and the sharks' majestic glide captivated both of you, filling your hearts with wonder. 
Next, you had a picnic lunch in the botanical gardens, surrounded by your favorite flowers. The air was filled with the sweet fragrance of blooming roses, and the vibrant colors of the garden created a picturesque backdrop. You sat on a cozy blanket, enjoying the delicious food Noah had packed, from sandwiches to fresh fruit and homemade baked goods. Laughter and conversation flowed easily, making the moment feel magical.
The day's final stop was a pottery place, where you got to pick pieces to glaze together. You opted for a mug, imagining cozy mornings sipping coffee, while Noah chose a dog bowl for your puppy. As you both carefully applied the glaze, you couldn't help but giggle at the splatters of paint and the creative designs you came up with. The experience was fun and intimate, a perfect ending to an incredible day. 
Once you got home from your long but fun day, you found a little black dress on the bed. “Put it on,” he gently said with a smile. As you slipped into the dress, feeling the luxurious fabric against your skin, Noah quickly dressed up alongside you. He looked dashing in his suit, his eyes twinkling with excitement. Hand in hand, he led you to the nicest restaurant in town. The ambiance was perfect, with soft lighting, elegant decor, and the gentle hum of live music in the background. The host greeted you warmly and escorted you to a private table adorned with candles and fresh flowers. The evening unfolded like a dream, with exquisite dishes, fine wine, and heartfelt conversation.
As the night progressed, you both eventually made your way back home. Noah sat on the bed, looking more beautiful than ever. After all the effort he put into making today so unique, you wanted to do something special for him. You start to make your way over to him seductively, ensuring every move catches his eye. His gaze follows your every step, filled with anticipation and admiration.  As you finally reach him, you straddle him and feel the warmth of his body beneath you. You lean in and give him a kiss filled with pure passion and hunger, your lips melding together in a fiery dance. Running your fingers down his arm, your hands interlock, creating a connection that sends shivers down your spine.
“I want to make you feel good,” you whisper, your breath hot against his ear. He gently moans, a sound that stirs a deep hunger within you. You continue to kiss him, your lips trailing down to his neck, tasting the salt of his skin as his heartbeat quickens. Your hands roam over his chest, feeling the rise and fall of his breaths as you both lose yourselves in the moment. Noah's hands move to your waist, pulling you closer, his touch igniting a fire within you. 
The room fades away, leaving just the two of you in this intimate bubble. Your whispered promises and his soft responses create a symphony of desire, filling the space between you with a palpable energy. You pull back slightly, looking into his eyes, seeing the same hunger reflected in them. "Let me take care of you tonight," you murmur, brushing a strand of hair from his forehead. His eyes close as he leans into your touch, a contented smile on his lips. 
You guide Noah’s hands to the zipper on the back of your dress, encouraging him to undress you. He takes the opportunity to tease you, his fingers lingering at the zipper before slowly, tantalizingly undoing it. Each inch the zipper descends feels like an eternity, heightening your anticipation and driving you wild. He peppers your neck with soft kisses and gentle nips, his breath warm against your skin as he continues. The combination of his deliberate touch and the sensual assault on your neck sends shivers down your spine, making your pulse race. His hands glide over your exposed skin as the dress loosens, adding to the electric charge between you.
It was your turn to undress him. Slowly, you unbuttoned his shirt, your fingers lingering on each button, grazing his skin with every movement. His breath hitched with each touch, his eyes locked onto yours with anticipation. You slid the shirt off his shoulders, letting it fall to the floor, and trailed your fingers down his chest, planting soft kisses along the way. You savored the moment, enjoying how his body responded to your touch. As you reached his belt, you looked up at him with a mischievous smile, taking your time to undo it and then sliding his pants down. Once the both of you were entirely naked, you both locked lips again. 
With one hand traveling down between your thighs, Noah put his other hand on the back of your neck and pulled you down so he could kiss you deeply. Despite the intensity of his kiss, you could barely concentrate as his fingers continued to move with delicate and expert precision on your clit. The sensation sent waves of pleasure coursing through your body, making it hard to focus on anything else but the overwhelming ecstasy building within you. Noah's touch was both tender and skillful, his every movement sending you closer and closer to the edge of bliss. Thinking of Phantom being the cheeky little ghoul he is who can’t keep his mouth shut. How he would see Rain sneaking into Dews room with his little tin lunch pail clutched under his arm. Phantom would take off at a run, the only thought in his mind to find Dew and tell him that Rain was snooping - or at least that’s what Phantom thought was happening. He’d find Dew curled up in front of the fire place, the shared living quarters having been cooler than usual for the fire ghouls liking - his ability to warm himself up without help beginning to fail in the brisk winter weather. Phantom would plop himself down next to Dew and the fire ghoul would lift his arm, inviting the newest quintessence ghoul to share in his body heat.
“Oooh! Maybe later… Rains snooping in your room! I saw him go in there.” Phantom would beam, thinking he’s tattling on the Guppy when in reality Dew knew exactly what was going on.
“Is that your way of telling me I need to go get him, little one?” Dew quipped, working up the motivation to move from the comfortable position on the couch. Phantoms eyes grew wide and his eyebrows raised as he shook his head vehemently.
“Duh! Unless you want him snooping through all your things.” Dew turned his head and rolled his eyes, not wanting the ghoul sat to his left to see the annoyance etched onto his face. Pulling a deep breath in through his nose he pulled himself together and turned to Phantom, reaching up to ruffle the little ones hair.
“Sure. I’ll go see what he’s up to.” Dew plastered a smile on his face as he pushed himself up off of the couch and slowly made his way to his bedroom.
He could hear Rain from down the hall, the childlike giggles escaping the Guppy were music to Dews ears as he came up to his bedroom door and knocked lightly as to not startle the Guppy on the other side. Pushing the door open he found Rain sitting cross legged on his bed surrounded by his sea animals and a select few of Dews dinosaur figurines.
“What’s going on, Gup?” Dew asked, walking over to perch himself on the edge of his bed.
“I’m okay, I just thought you were in here but you weren’t so I just made myself at home.” Rain chuckled, turning to face Dew. The soft smile that spread across the fire ghouls face was unmistakeable and one only Rain ever saw. He leaned over and nuzzled his face against Dew’s shoulder, a show of affection he had recently taken a liking to giving and one that Phantom absolutely loved reviving from Rain.
“I think Phantom wants to play. He told me you were in here snooping. Why don’t you go see what he’s up to?” Rain scrunched up his nose and turned his attention back to the toys circling him.
“He doesn’t like my sharks though.” Rain mumbled, toying with the hammer head shark figurine he had recently acquired at the aquarium. Dew reached out and placed a hand against the Guppies back, rubbing soothing circles against him as he wracked his brain. He reached out and closed the lid of the tin lunch box before nodding at the toys on the bed.
“How about you leave these here so they’re safe and go play a board game or two with Phantom so he doesn’t feel left out?” Rain grumbled something under his breath but nodded and lined his figurines up in a perfect line.
“Fine, but only two and no Monopoly!” Rain put his foot down and chuckled before pushing himself off of the bed and made his way out into the shared living space on the hunt for Phantom.

Hassel:
Hassel is the definition of sappy when it comes to you. He’s just so overjoyed that he gets to be a part of your life, to be able to hold you and kiss you and love you so much. You support his dreams and you love him as he is, not because of his standing in his family or his position on the Elite Four. Hassel is down bad for you, and he’s not afraid to show it
He has many photos of you both at his desk in the teacher’s lounge and in his classroom. Those in his classroom are drawings he’s done, ones the kids as about. Hassel happily rambles to them about you, so much so that sometimes kids ask about your during class to sidetrack him. It’s well and good until he gets teary over how much you’ve made him feel loved, and then everyone has to soothe a blubbering Hassel.
Hassel loves taking you out. You two travel Paldea, with Hassel showing off the beautiful sights and taking you to all the restaurants. If there’s live music playing, he’ll dance you around. It’s nothing too intense or fast, but you both have fun swinging and swaying to the music. Some of Hassel’s favorite memories are of you laughing as he dips you down to pepper you in kisses
His passion is music, on top of just art. He’ll write little songs or melodies for you on guitar or piano, and serenade you at home. It’s very romantic, but if you tear up, he will as well. If you want, he’ll teach you how to play, sitting close and guiding your fingers over keys and strings alike. Should you flip the script and play him a little song you wrote for him, he’ll sob into the kisses he smothers you in. He’s just so in love, and so so sappy about you
Clavell:
Clavell is a gentleman, a little old fashioned, but oh so sweet. He always is doing little things that makes your day brighter. He kisses your hand when you meet or depart, he offers his arm for you to hold while you both walk down the street, he pulls chairs out for you, and everything you can think of. You almost feel like you're part of those old romance movies, and it makes you swoon a little bit
Clavell enjoys more peaceful dates with you. Candlelit dinners, walks in the park, days at museums or the aquarium, or spending time at home with a movie, maybe a bit of slow dancing to the music on his record player. It's so very romantic, but Clavell is open to more active dates, if that's what you want. He enjoys your trips to sports games, or to hike amongst nature, so long as you take it slow.
He's easy to fluster. Clavell isn't used to PDA, and it never crosses his mind much when he first starts dating you. Sure, you hold his hand or his arm, but he offers them to you. Kisses on the cheek? You leaning on him, head on his shoulder? Hugging him from behind? He blushes every time, eyes wide. He likes it, don't worry. He's just not used to it yet.
At school, he doesn't talk about his own personal life much, preferring to focus more on the students. However, if asked, he'll discuss you, how he admires your confidence and strength, and such. He's not as prone to rambling, sadly, but curious kids can draw all sorts of things out of him, such as your hobbies and interests and all that. You visit, only to find a handful of students know you?? Clavell blushes when you bring it up, embarrassed to be caught gushing about you to the kids
Jacq:
Jacq is a silly boyfriend. He's always doing experiments and research, so he'll talking about them a lot. They're really interesting, if you have an interest in Pokémon biology. If you don't, his rambling helps lull you to sleep, since his voice is lower and calming when he talks. He's put several students to sleep before, so he doesn't mind you sleeping. He's touched you like his voice that much
He's a bit of a workaholic, so you'll have to drag him from his research. Luckily, it's not that hard to convince him to take a break. A few kisses and he's following you like a little puppy. Try not to use your powers for evil, however. The director isn't pleased if Jacq falls behind on his grading or anything, and Jacq will overwork to make it up to him, so be careful
Dates with him often turn into little fieldwork excursions. Jacq will pull you towards wild Pokémon and show off how his app works. It's often good for training your Pokémon, since Jacq gets information whether you battle or catch it. He's your personal cheerleader, clapping and shouting out encouragement as you battle. Every win earns you a kiss to the cheek, and Jacq carries lots of healing items for your team, berries too, as thanks
Some of Jacq's favorite moments are when you two are home, snuggled together on the couch or in bed. He's a big fan of physical affection, and wants you laying on top of him, or him on top of you. Whatever gives him the most skin to skin contact. It's very cute, until he gets withdrawal symptoms at work and a student, or Arceus forbid, Clavell walks in on you both in his chair, melded together in a mess of limbs and kisses

Writing Ambience: The Ocean
In order to write, I have to be in ‘the mood’ of my story. Sometimes this can be hard, especially when I’m overwhelmed with other unproductive thoughts (what am I going to eat for dinner? Why do I keep playing Skyrim over and over? When is my D&D group finally going to meet again?). To solve this, I usually listen to music. But sometimes, even that falls short. For those times, I turn to ambience. 
Ambient-mixer is my favourite website for writing ambience, but there’s also myNoise. Some ambient mixes have music already, but many others can easily complement an established writing playlist. 
Here are a few of my favourite mixes, and some songs that I feel work well with them. Some of them I have made, others I just found and fell in love with. Click the x to listen!
Salt and Siren Song: (x) a storm rolls through the sky as the metal-grey waves crash into the rocks, and drain through the pebbles. The Pacific was alive, was crying and calling and singing, beckoning. There are sharks in the water, but it's the sirens you have to worry about.
A Miami Restaurant: (x) a slow night. Soft live music, convivial conversation, and excellent wine, all soothing, belying the spiciest Spanish food in the city.
Lagoon of the Mermaids: (x) a small island near Venice, moonlit pools, soft ethereal voices beckoning. You follow the voices to a palazzo decorated with pearls and softly faded murals. They are waiting just beyond the gossamer curtains... (based on one of my WIPs)
Ruins of Atlantis: (x) you've happened upon the ruins of Atlantis. Waves and glimmering shafts of light pass overhead as you slowly drift through long-abandoned archways and what might once have been a tree-lined boulevard. But on the edge of your hearing, you hear distant chatter and chanting, the faint sound of bells... perhaps Atlantis is not as abandoned as you thought?
San Francisco Bay: (x) living around the San Francisco bay area, these ambient boat horns and seagulls are still missed!
Underwater Eerie: (x)
Mermaid's Lair: (x) they sing their sweet songs and whispers, the mermaids have successfully lured you to their underwater home. Relaxing and tranquil yet...slightly creepy.
Kingdom of Atlantis: (x)
Deep Ocean: (x) listen to the peaceful yet alien womb-like sounds of the deepest places in the ocean.
Coral Reef: (x) dive into water to explore colourful coral reef. The silence of underwater is mixing with the occasional distant calls of seagulls and dolphins.

Whenever I find myself far from the ocean I pull this site up. Technology is wonderful and so are the folks who placed and maintain this underwater camera off of Miami. It's better than an aquarium because the fish are in their natural environment! Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy.

why blippi is rotting yr children's brains
preface: i literally expect no one to read this. it is an essay length, strong opinion piece critiquing a niche youtube-based children's show that i don't expect most of y'all to even have knowledge of lol. but like, i promise that even if you know nothing about what i'm talking about, in my incredibly, super humble opinion, it's a good piece of writing and interesting nonetheless. anyway if you read this whole thing for some reason yr really hot and we should kiss.
i thoroughly vet everything my child watches before he watches it, episode by episode. and we rarely watch youtube for entertainment; we usually just look up educational videos when he has a question about something and wants more detail than i can provide him. and that's mainly because children's content on youtube is so fucking troubling and distressing. i don't judge parents who give their children a tablet at a restaurant at all bc i've been there and sometimes it's easier on everyone to just put on a video and avoid a giant scene, but i do judge parents who just leave their children alone with youtube kids on autoplay.
take stevin john, a literal millionaire who got famous from dressing up as a silly character called blippi and going on tours of places like aquariums, zoos, construction sites, etc and posting it on youtube. this has branched into a whole empire of blippi videos, hulu shows and specials, live shows and tours (that he outsources to another character actor), merchandise and so on. this 30-something year old man cites his main influence as being mr. rogers, but i question if he's ever even seen an episode of that program.
mr. rogers had no background in early childhood development or media production, but he revolutionized the world of children's media, because he respected his audience and didn't shy away from real world situations, all while creating a show with an enormous heart. mr. rogers begins his episodes by inviting the viewer in, literally changing his attire to be more comfortable, and talking about/doing things he genuinely cares about. whereas mr. rogers calmly and maturely addresses the viewer, blippi puts on a high pitched, contrived voice, interjecting every other sentence with a forced exclamation such as, "teehee! we're having so much fun!"
i don't find it a coincidence that john (blippi) is a veteran, either. his videos are completely devoid of the absurd, abstract, childlike thinking that makes children's media fun, creative, and entertaining. his thinking and process is methodical, devoid of emotion, and very superficial. this line of thinking clearly shows the kind of creative sterilization and emphasis on sameness and conformity instilled in the military. blippi simply observes things and interacts with them in a stale, matter-of-fact way. "this ball is purple! this ball is pink! anyway... what's over there? teehee! a car! vroom, vroom!" objects are colors, toy cars don't do anything but drive, curiosity is simply not encouraged.
he uses the "it's educational!" excuse to hide the fact that his show lacks everything that makes media a valuable resource for children to consume in the first place. further than identifying colors, numbers, and the occasional letter or shape, there is just this total lack of children's need for social and emotional development. when mr. rogers breaks the fourth wall to address the viewer and let them know they're special, it feels authentic and natural, because we've spent the last half hour building whole worlds with diverse characters and unique stories in a pretend neighborhood, learning about and enjoying different musical instruments, being exposed to and making friends with (even if parasocially, it is still a real bond to children when done properly) children who are similar to us in character regardless of physical or environmental differences, feeding the fish, making art together, and so on. when blippi tells the viewer, "you are very special, and i enjoy spending time with you!" it falls completely flat and feels unearned, because the last half hour was spent running around a soft play center pointing at bright, colorful objects, visiting interesting locations like farms or fruit production factories while failing to acknowledge the humanity of the humans actually working there (everything is machine or product focused; the human workers are simply an extension of the machine), learning "fun facts" about elephants that just list attributes of elephants, not taking the opportunity to inform the viewers of elephants' intelligence, or diet, or matriarchal society. it is a loud, sensory overwhelming display of a man so disconnected from the social and emotional needs and desires of children that he assumes they're stupid, easily entertained idiots who only need some silly dances and fast-moving cartoon graphics to give their attention (meaning time and desire to purchase products meaning $$$). john clearly views his audience as a means to gaming the algorithm and ultimately a paycheck by the hollow way he addresses them.
the show is so narcissistic, so focused on all the fun blippi is supposedly having, but he lacks any of the character traits that make individual children's show hosts memorable, so much so that he was able to have someone else who doesn't even vaguely resemble him dress as blippi and impersonate him and host the show or appear at live shows, and it went unnoticed by most of his toddler and child audience. the show is so formulaic and the character of blippi is so unmemorable that instead of taking the blue's clues route of developing a story of the host leaving for college and his brother now stepping in, or making some sort of believable excuse for the change in actors, they can simply swap him out with some random guy and not acknowledge it at all. although a comedy show for older children, the amanda show in no way could or would try to replicate the show with the same name but swapping out amanda bynes with a random teenage girl who is clearly not amanda bynes. it's weird and nonsensical and shows that his character is so much of a farce put on for a paycheck that not even his dedicated audience is affected or even cares when he is replaced by a random, unknown person.
this is completely garbage content made by an opportunist with no experience with children who saw his nephew watching children's youtube content, took it at complete surface level and still hasn't realized that while children's content only looks and feels so easy, entertaining, and enriching because it is so hard to do well. even with outsourcing his music, that aspect of the show still sucks. famous and successful children's musician, raffi, is known for his song describing the life of a little white whale, called "baby beluga." it opens with a calm strumming of his guitar, followed by the lyrics, "baby beluga in the deep blue sea/swim so wild and you swim so free/heaven above/sea below/and a little white whale on the go." is it silly and kind of pointless? yes, but the point is that he is captivating children and showing them the fun of listening to music, dancing, singing, and appreciating art. the "excavator song" featured in an episode of blippi about construction vehicles opens with what sounds like a default garageband loop and the flatly sung lyrics, "i'm an excavator/i'm an excavator/hey dirt, see you later/i'm an excavator." i don't feel i have to meticulously analyze the aforementioned lyrics; the stark contrast should speak for itself.
i have a million more criticisms about both blippi specifically and youtube children's content as a whole, but this is already so long and i doubt many people will get this far anyway. it's an issue i was completely apathetic towards until i had my own child and had to wean him off these kinds of junk food shows because i realized the fast-paced visuals and bright colors and repetitive songs/lyrics were putting him in this spaced-out, fugue state, and he thought he could demand this show or that show whenever he wanted. the moment he started regularly yelling things like, "watch! cars!" or "no! click it!" i knew i had to be a lot more invested in the things he watched even if just for entertainment or as a soothing message. i showed him an episode of mr. rogers yesterday and feared it would be too slow to hold his attention, but he was mesmerized, greeting and interacting with mr. rogers verbally, asking me, "what's that?" to different objects on the screen. since purging this low-brow children's entertainment, he has had a noticeable increase in attention span and concentration, can focus on a task for longer amounts of times, is more likely to "read"/look through books without me initiating it, and doesn't throw a fit when the tv/my laptop is off.
i just know that for me, growing up with so much unsupervised internet access definitely led me to real-world pain and consequences, and it seems like now children are born with an iphone as an extension of their arm. if my child is going to be consuming videos, i'm definitely supervising every second and am going to be highly critical of the videos and the credentials (or lack thereof) of the creators and team behind it. but i also know, from pure observation admittedly, that parents letting youtube kids autoplay parent their children for hours at a time is not an uncommon occurrence. and it worries me that a generation of children are being raised on videos that rely on being as loud and bright and superficially enjoyable as possible. what's the use of a child knowing their colors and alphabet if they don't know how to treat people with kindness and empathy and respect? there is something wrong for a children's show host to plug the spelling of his name at the end of his videos ("well, that's the end of this video. but if you wanna watch more of my videos, just type in my name! can you spell my name with me? b-l-i-p-p-i!") after essentially rotting his audiences' brains for a half hour. there's something so insidious about the prioritization of naming different parts of construction vehicles over honest depictions of and conversations about dealing with feelings, or why someone with autism may act differently than you, or what to do when you feel lonely, or ways to make art and express yrself creatively. also, not to mention the blatant police propaganda and outright worship is seriously jarring; as a black mother to a visibly non-white child, i cannot sit there and watch blippi show kids how to be a bootlicker for the shittiest profession on earth, but that could be a whole essay in and of itself.
anyway, thanks for reading, if yr looking for quality children's content, i recommend, in no specific order: mr. rogers, sesame street, the electric company, molly of denali, daniel tiger, bluey!, blue's clues, the odd squad, word party, trash truck, puffin rock, uhh... that's definitely not an extensive list but that's just off the dome!!! ok bye y'all <333

Kayo paces. Her sleek leather boots sink into the plush carpet of Tracy Island's lounge. She has been grounded by injury, left to recover while the Tracy boys are out there doing what they do best. She trusts them; knows they know what they're doing, knows they can handle themselves... But it doesn't help. Her fingers itch to activate the comms, but she doesn't. The boys don't need her micromanaging, and she trusts John to forward anything if he thinks she can assist... But still, the ache remains.
Those leather boots softly tap as she reaches the parquet flooring, and Kayo finds herself standing in front of Jeff's desk. It's a big, sturdy, mahogany thing. Impish sunlight glints off the polished surface, winking and laughing. It makes her think of Virgil. The sun drifts behind a cloud, and the laughter vanishes. She turns away.
Her steps lead her to the portrait of Thunderbird One, and the nicknacks beside it. Her eyes slide over the portrait – seen a hundred times before – to an antique barometer on the shelves. And there is Scott: Quicksilver in a glass; carefully controlled vim and daring. She pictures him in freefall, madcap laughter stolen by the rushing wind. The thought of his pack failing at fifty thousand feet is enough to have her leaning against the wall, head reeling like she's nosediving, seconds before the impact that has left her arm in a sling, and Thunderbird Shadow a pile of scrap.
Kayo huffs out her indignation at her weak and maudlin thoughts, wrenching back from the wall. She pinwheels away, her boots marking out time on the parquet as she passes in front of the vast window. Outside the sun glimmers off the swimming pool. Bright. Cheery. Such a laughable contrast to the storm inside. She wishes it were raining, dark skies and tempestuous winds. The bowl of forget-me-not blue is almost mocking in its temptation. She closes her eyes, breathing deeply, and brings herself back to ground level.
Kayo finds herself in the far corner of the lounge, at a kitschy '60s coffee table tucked into the fold of the room. On its surface sits a porcelain pug, which reminds her of Sherbet – and, by extension, his owner. It appears delicate – a dainty conversation piece; but her foot knows it is sturdier than one might think. Her eye catches on a woollen beanie, abandoned next to the pug – and she scowls; Lady Penelope has Parker to keep her from serious trouble. Kayo's brothers are up there without their usual safety net.
She turns back, pacing towards the piano. She plays only a little; her mother insisted, to start with. But after a year of tantrums and sword fights, Mama Kyrano gave up. But the island is empty – even Grandma Tracy is on the mainland – and the house is too quiet.
Kayo sits down at the piano and raises the lid, leaning absently to the side as a small, spring-loaded, plastic frog sails over her shoulder – the latest victim in the ongoing prank war. Her fingers wander over the ivories, and she settles into picking out Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star in the upper third. As the sweet notes fill the air, Alan comes to mind – bright, lively, graceful; effortless as the rising music. Kayo lifts her head as if she might somehow see to the edge of space; see Thunderbird Three shimmering with star-stuff as if picked out in the silver, gossamer notes she plays. She dismisses the fanciful thought with a twitch of the lips, finishing the refrain.
As her hand falls still, she looks across the room, gaze drawn back to Jeff's desk. She remembers the moment he asked her to become his head of security – when Papa Kyrano retired. She'd not long returned from her last field stint with Mossad when he'd called her to the desk. His lips had asked her to help him protect the world; his eyes had asked her to protect his boys.
Kayo sighs, the guilt of disappointing the indomitable Jeff Tracy laying heavily over her shoulders. She closes the lid and turns on the stool, intending to resume viewing life through the plate-glass barrier, when her foot nudges the plastic amphibian, abandoned on the floor. She picks the thing up, lips quirking at the cartoonish features – the bugging eyes and wide, red grin – and is inexplicably reminded of Gordon. Kayo places it on the piano, where it wobbles, brilliant green out of place on the ebony-silk surface. Three birds, two star-men, but only one squid-boy. She purses her lips and tries to tell herself the unease this thought causes is about lack of process redundancy. Perhaps she should expand her skillset in an aquatic direction...
She stands with purpose and walks over to the nook in which sits Goron's transport chute. But as Kayo reaches over to activate the chute, a flicker of something catches her eye. Her free hand is already fumbling for her stun-gun when the interloper reveals itself: a long-legged tropical spider has found its way into the aquarium. It flails and panics, and she wonders if it might drown. But even as she watches, it's already hoisting out of the water and building a complicated nest in the corner of the tank. Kayo watches it work, watches its ingenious use of resources in an unfamiliar environ, watches it engineer a refuge... and thinks of Doctor Hackenbacker. Distracted from her previous thought, Kayo turns away from the chute access, making a note to tell Gordon about the spider. She doesn't think it's a threat to the fish, and the lid is a four-handed affair. Besides, knowing Gordon, he'll want to coddle the thing before he releases it.
Instead, Kayo climbs to the mezzanine. Somewhere in the aether, a stack of security reports grows ever larger, but she is unable to read them, to even consider distracting herself with them at a time like this. Worry still fills the well of her stomach, bilious and vile. There are too many close calls, too many near misses. Too many times she's snatched one of her brothers from certain doom. She's so useless here. Idly, she picks up a blown-glass paperweight. Does John ever feel like this? she wonders as she stares into its nebulaeic swirls. Drifting high above them, like a flame-haired malāk – a messenger of God – with his brothers so far from his grasp, does John ever feel powerless? She wonders how he does it: how he can stay so removed from the action, remaining so calm. She wonders how he manages the silent panic that maybe this is the mission someone does not come back from.
The glass has chilled her hand, chasing phantom skeins of cold and fatigue through her body. Kayo carefully replaces the paperweight and makes her way back down the stairs. She settles into the sofa lining the conversation pit, a hand falling to her side as she allows her body to sink into the plush stuffing. Something rough touches the side of her hand, and Kayo fishes out a blackened cookie from where someone – Gordon or Alan, most likely – has stuffed it between the sofa cushions. Kayo screws up her nose, making a noise of revulsion. It's been at least a week since Grandma Tracy tried baking again. Mouth still in a down-curve of disgust, she leans to put the cookie on the table but finds herself pausing as the light sluices across its dark, oleaginous, undulating surface. It reminds her of the Iceland mission and the pictures of cooling magma Doctor Hackenbacker proudly showed off – and his lecture on igneous rocks. Created by fire, he'd said, melded and reforged into something tougher. Used the world over – even here on the island – as foundations. Unshakable and resistant to all the world could throw. It makes her think of the island's second foundation, of all Grandma Tracy has been through, and yet still stands firm and loving despite it.
She wishes any of her extended family were here, now. Like that spider, Kayo feels out of her depth, could do with someone strong, cheery, soothing; a solidity under her feet. But they are not.
Kayo is a woman who knows when her limits have been met. The island is empty, there's no one around to witness the break caused by cracks of worry, pain and fatigue. Her lip wobbles, vision growing hazy with tears. She gives a small sob, then another, allowing herself the luxury of a little cry.
"Kayo?" She sniffs, swatting at her eyes, and looks up to see Alan's hologram looking down at her, eyes pinched with worry, tone edging towards frantic. "Kayo, is everything okay? John-" "John," comes the even tone of the auburn-haired man who appears next, "should be more careful about what side remarks he makes while on comms to his worry-wart little brother." He rolls his eyes. "Sorry to disturb you, Kayo. But your telemetry did do something unusual a few moments ago-" "Kayo? Alan pinged me. What's your status?" Scott cuts in, as if they are in the sky and all is normal. Before Kayo can say anything, Lady Penelope appears, the picture of decorum and class as usual. "I'm sure it was nothing. Isn't that right, darling? Just a little wobble, eh?" her Ladyship says. "'Wobble'?" asks Gordon, from where he and Brains cluster behind the pilot of Thunderbird Two. "What the hell does- Hey!" Kayo's lips twitch in amusement, as Gordon rubs his head from where Virgil has given him a brotherly love-tap. "It means: keep your nose out, squid-boy," Virgil tells him. "Is everything okay, Kayo dear?" says Grandma Tracy. "John asked me to- Oh," she adds, looking at the packed comm channel. "Well, it looks like you all beat me to the pinch." She smiles and rubs the back of her neck. Kayo looks over her family with a swift, critical eye. Apart from Gordon's head, they all appear healthy and uninjured. Relief floods through her, loosening tense muscles. Her wry amusement turns into a full-blown smile. "I'm alright," she says. "Like Penny said, it was just a little wobble. Everything is F.A.B."

Sure! Let’s take a trip with the Captains and their families to Disney World. With everyone having to stay home, a little jaunt into the wonders of Disney would be fun. Hope you all enjoy! <3
I’m going to treat this as an all week vacation because there is so much to see and do at Disney World, a weekend just doesn’t really give anyone a chance to experience it all. I left out the water park and some of the other attractions just because this post began to get really long and was taking on a life of its own. ;)
And, because it got so long, I’m going to put it all under a cut so that it doesn’t eat up so much of the feed.
Shunsui - Spends a lot of time laughing. Every time he and his daughter get on a ride that makes her squeal, he starts laughing. He loves how she hangs on his arm and burrows into his side while screaming and laughing.
Once he gets to Epcot, he hits the brakes -- they sell booze at the restaurants! He makes sure to sample the drink of choice from all the countries represented at the World Showcase. He tries not to linger too long despite how much he’d like to just spend all day there.
The animal attractions aren’t of much interest to him and he fights the urge to power-nap on a bench while his daughter is watching the animals. The aquarium is even worse, it’s darker in there and it’s cool. He drew quite a few snickers with his snoring.
The live shows are fun for his daughter, but not for him. He’ll doze a bit then a loud explosion of music or sound effect will jolt him awake. It’s sleep deprivation mingled with a little torture. He wishes he’d thought to bring earplugs.
Whenever one of Disney princesses interacts with his daughter he just can’t help but flirt. He’s so handsome that they seem to like it until he overdoes it and then they shut him down. Shameless, Shunsui, utterly shameless.
Soi Fon - So many people! So few places to hide! Her ninja instincts are kinda overloaded at first, but she settles down pretty fast.
Seeing her daughter go crazy over all her favorite Disney characters makes Soi Fon smile. She knows the feeling of fangirling very well. (*cough* Yoruichi.)
She is all about the pictures and making sure she gets lots of shots of her daughter visiting with the characters. She also makes sure to get lots of shots of the family all together too.
The rides are definitely a main attraction for her and her little one. She is so proud that her daughter is laughing it up while all the other kids are screaming in fear.
The live shows are nice, but both of them prefer to be out and doing things rather than sitting in seat for a long period of time.
Soi Fon nearly layed a smackdown on Mickey Mouse -- first he came out of nowhere and startled her, then the freaky-big rodent had the audacity to tickle her while posing for a photo!
Secretly watches The Aristocats every night before bed.
Rose - Really wants to spend the whole vacation going from one show to the next. But, this trip is mostly about his little love and her love of all things Disney. Although, he manages to get to evening shows since Disney has counselors that will watch his daughter while he enjoys some more adult-friendly activities.
Loves going through Epcot and enjoys watching his daughter’s mind open up to other cultures as well as ideas about the future. More than once he gets in on some of the street shows in the World Showcase.
Likes the animal attractions but doesn’t care for the smell. Ends up getting medieval with an aroma blocking herb baggie to pin to their clothes. The aquarium inspires him to softly sing every sea shanty he knows, which is a total of three that he picked up in a pub somewhere in the world of the living.
Goes to the live musical shows that are his daughter’s favorite. Always sings louder than anyone else, including the stage actors. Gets applause more often than not.
Retsu - Will ride most of the rides with her daughter, although there are some that she prefers to just stand and watch with a smile on her face.
The World Showcase at Epcot is a big favorite for her. There is so much to sample and experience! Especially the teas!
Really enjoys the animals and teaching her daughter about what they are. They end up spending the most of that time at Conservation Station. The animal encounters are a thrill for both of them.
They only got to a few live shows, only the ones that are must-see favorites. She and her daughter like doing more interactive things like the science things at Future World.
Makes sure that their activities are a balance of fun and education. Retsu makes sure to end off the day with some low-energy things so that her daughter can start to wind down before bedtime can roll around.
For some reason, the staff at the parks and the resort seem to be very unsettled by Retsu’s smile.
Shinji - Absolutely loves the rides, especially anything that spins or goes upside-down. His daughter, a chip off the ol’ block, loves them too. There’s no way to know who is squealing and laughing louder, him or her.
Epcot is interesting, but doesn’t hold the same thrills as the rides so they hit only the things they want to see and go back to re-ride their favorite rides.
Was totally enjoying the animal attractions until one of the monkeys flung poo and hit him. After that, he stayed well out of the firing zone. The aquarium was so much more peaceful...and no chance of getting hit with poo.
Tells every princesses he meets that she is his first love. (It’s gets old fast) Daughter totally busts him every time: “But you said Mommy was your first love!” *Cue Shinji’s smile* “Of course she is! Oh, look! Isn’t that Princess Jasmine?!”
At the live shows, he dances in the aisle with his daughter during her favorite songs because life is all about seizing moments and making awesome memories.
Is really thrilled that there is a jazz club where he can indulge his love of music after dinner.
Byakuya - Determined to still behave with dignity as befitting his station...which lasts about 10 minutes. His daughter is having none of that stuffy-Daddy business, this is Disney World!
Despite his reluctance to go on the rides, he goes on one just to please his daughter. And that’s when Byakuya decides that letting lose and having some fun won’t do a thing to diminish his pride. While he won’t make any noise on the rides, he loves to hear his daughter giggle and scream with glee. He’ll smile. He’ll laugh too, but it’s easily lost in the rush of the wind.
Epcot is where he could happily spend the entire vacation. The Gallery of Arts and History could keep him coming back every day, but he has to settle for a leisurely one time through. He buys quite a few art history books for reading later before bedtime.
The two Frozen attractions are torture for him, but he endures for his daughter’s sake. Earplugs are helpful, but still don’t completely drown out the singing. Poor Byakuya, “Let It Go” began and he cringed so hard he got a cramp.
Doesn’t smile in any pictures. That’s not to say he doesn’t smile, because he does quite often. After all, he’s enjoying himself. He just seems to have a supernatural ability to know when his picture is about to be taken -- and no smile, all formal. (Strike a pose much, Byakuya?)
Sajin - His daughter gets so excited by seeing the Disney characters and being able to interact with them. He takes lots of pictures.
The rides are lot of fun. However, he spends half his energy worrying that his daughter is safely secured in the ride. To remedy that, he keeps a hand on her or an arm around her when he can.
Poor Sajin, came off the spinning cups staggering around like a drunk. He really didn’t care for that one bit. Managed to keep his lunch down, but just barely. His daughter thought is was rather funny.
Epcot is both fascinating and fun for both of them, especially all the Future World stuff. He fears he may just be raising a budding scientist.
The shows are great, but he has to sit in the aisle because he won’t fit in a seat. One of the staff asked him to take a seat -- until he stood up. She squeaked that it would be just fine for him to sit on the step next to his daughter’s seat.
The animal attractions and aquarium are where Sajin and his daughter have the most fun. They both love animals and have a special kind of being “in tune” with them so they react differently to them than to those that are 100% human.
Lisa - She got pretty hyper when she saw all the amazing amenities that were in the luxury suite they were in at the resort. She all but vowed to never leave it.
The rides were loads of fun. She rode everything, some of them two or three times when her daughter would ask to go again, “Please! Please! Please!”
Epcot was a surprisingly fun place for her daughter. The little one’s interest in history and then in science reminded her quite a bit of little Nanao. So, she bought books that she could read to her daughter on things that sparked her curiosity.
The character interactions didn’t go over too well. The princesses were very nice, but her daughter hid shyly behind her legs. When the large costumed characters approached, her little girl took one look at Mickey Mouse and started screaming and crying. Lisa just scooped her up and marched off to soothe her with ice cream.
After the Mickey Mouse incident, Lisa was reluctant to try the animal attractions. However, they proved to be much better and her daughter had a wonderful time. Poor thing was spit on by a llama, but she didn’t freak out, she scolded it. Finger wagging, a hand on hip, and a meanie face “Bad mahlahmala!” Lisa was so glad to have a video of that.
Kensei - He spends his first morning at the resort unwinding in the gym. He even goes for a swim. The suite was impressive, but the exercise choices really surprised him. He plans to eventually try them all before breakfast everyday.
The rides get a scoff. He’s too old for all that. But, he goes anyway when wife and daughter declare him out-voted. It takes a couple of rides before he gets into the spirit of it all and begins to enjoy himself. How can he not like something that makes his daughter smile and laugh so much?
Epcot World Showcase sends Kensei into foodie heaven. He samples as much as he can and will do his best to try to identify how something was cooked and what spices were used. He makes notes on napkins to try to duplicate his favorites at home. Future World holds more wonder for his daughter than him...he’s still mentally going over recipes.
The character interactions go great until Goofy arrived and his daughter got scared. Much to his dismay, it took Kensei accepting a hug from Goofy before his little girl would stop crying and come over for a hug too. The pictures are carefully guarded so Kensei can’t get rid of them.
His daughter is a little skittish around the animals at the attractions, but once he shows no fear, she’s quick to follow. If Daddy can do it, so can she. The aquarium fascinates her. The novelty wears off quickly for him and he tries not to doze in muted light and cool temperatures.
Unbeknownst to anyone, Kensei has a thing for ink pens and secretly buys all sorts of glittery, goth, unusual, or weird pens that he comes across in the gift shops. They’re his souvenirs and will be tucked away in his office for his private enjoyment. He bought two with a skull theme so he could give one to Hisagi.
Toshiro - Really didn’t want to go to Disney World at all. Way too hot! He is physically uncomfortable the whole time he has to walk around in the hot sun.
The rides are fun and provide some breezy relief from the heat. He loves hearing his daughter scream and laugh. It’s worth melting in the sun just to hear her joy.
Epcot is a bit better experience since a lot of that is indoors. He loves all the educational value that comes in a fun package.
The animal attractions aren’t really that interesting to either of them so they opt for some character interactions and live shows. He even poses and smiles with the Elsa character actress. He does for the others too, but only one of those smiles was genuine ;)
The two Frozen attractions are hands-down their favorite. Toshiro is so tempted to add a little chilly extras to the show but knows it will freak out the humans. He enjoys the wonder and happiness on his daughter’s face as she watches the stage performers and sings along not missing a word.
Believe it or not, Toshiro’s favorite part was sitting on the balcony of their suite with his wife and daughter tucked up to him, relaxing as they watched the fireworks.
Kenpachi - Gets lost about 50 yards from the front gate. Spends the rest of the day accepting that he hasn’t got a damn clue where the hell they are. But, his daughter seems to know exactly where to go and tugs him from one ride to the next.
Nearly took down Donald Duck during the character interactions. “What the hell is a giant duck doing here?”
Kenny thought the Jedi Training: Trial of the Temple was the best thing he’d ever seen in the world of living. He challenged Darth Vader to a one on one. Had his daughter not pulled him away, he probably would have been “escorted” from the premises.  
Epcot was blah for him but at least there was alcohol to be had. He really enjoyed the World Showcase - Germany -- he liked the beer and the rowdy nature of the people. The science themed attractions held no pull for him or his daughter so they both decided to go back to Jedi Training.
The animal attractions were fun for his little girl, but he found it a bit boring. Once in a while he’d grunt, “I killed a Hollow once, looked just like that thing.”

Mayuri - He really didn’t want to go at all. “A week?! I can’t be away from my experiments that long!”
The first day there everyone thinks that he’s a character because of all the black and white makeup and the elaborate head/hair accessory. “Hey! What movie are you from?” Mayuri gets aggravated really fast. There is a lot of grumbling about “simpletons” and “idiots.”
Goes on all the rides for the experience, not for fun. His daughter is happy as can be, but he’s sitting next to her with a blank face. It’s a strange thing to see.
The animal attractions are rather boring, he’s had those specimens before. His daughter is still interested so he tells her about the animals and what he’s learned from his experiments with them.
The aquarium is where Mayuri’s eyes go wide. There are so many specimens he’s never seen in person before! He’s seen these on a computer, but in person... He begins making plans to procure some to take home. His daughter is wise beyond her years and hustles him out with a stern, “No, Daddy, they stay here!”
Epcot Future World is where Mayuri has the most fun. He comments on the simplicity of some of the science, but he’s mostly happy to see his daughter take an interest in his first true love: science.
Jushiro - When he walks in, you can bet that more than one person nearly gets whiplash from turning to stare at this beautiful man that just entered the park. Some think he’s a star from a movie. One thing is certain, his beautiful hair and handsome features are undeniably magnetic.
The Disney princesses have a hard time staying in character around him. The glassy eyes and titters are just precursors to longing looks and nearly swooning at his feet. Add in that sweet nature and the husky timber of his voice -- panties will be melting. However, Jushiro only has eyes for his daughter and wife.
He really has to pace himself. He can only spend a limited amount of time outside in the heat. Low stress rides are always a “yes” for him so he can have fun with his little girl and laugh. The more strenuous rides are left for Mommy to go on while he watches from a shady bench.
Epcot is wonderful and holds many attractions that appeal to Jushiro. He likes being able to sample food, drink, and some activities of other cultures. He stocked up on quite a few different teas from around the world to take home. The science offerings are interesting too, but end up a bit boring for his daughter.
The animal attraction, especially the interactive ones are a big hit. The aquarium is also great since it gives him a chance to be out of the heat. The same goes for live shows. These give his daughter a chance to see her favorites and it gives him a chance to sit down and recover from walking around the park. When the day has more indoor activities, he can spend more time out of bed.
The fireworks show was one of his favorite experiences because he got to have private time with his family and still enjoy something fun.
All of them - Everyone loves the Star Wars attractions, each for different reasons. It’s definitely a huge hit with parents and kids alike.
Every single one of them gets Mickey Mouse ears -- and wears them, except Byakuya, Toshiro, and Mayuri. Byakuya and Toshiro give in when their daughters give them that Daddy-melting look and say, “Pleeeeeease?” Mayuri poses for one picture with the ears on, then shreds them to pieces when his daughter isn’t looking.
All the parents take advantage of the child-minding services offered so that they can get some romantic time. There are lots of nighttime activities like clubs and shows to enjoy. And, of course, there’s just having a few hours to get in some sexy time without the munchkin to worry about.
Always end up carrying their daughter when they get worn out. During the day it’s rides on Daddy’s/Mommy’s shoulders, but always by dinner time it’s curled on Daddy’s/Mommy’s shoulder and completely zonked out as they leave the park. (Let that picture sink in and just sigh :) )

Sugaisy and Anshi Aquarium Date

Easily the most aesthetically pleasing date to go on
The fish are colorful, the reflection of waves is so pretty, and the ambient music is super soothing
It’s also the perfect date to go on to take very ~aesthetic~ pictures, which I KNOW Akaashi is all about
Anyway we start our mini undersea adventure with the Sea Turtles
They’re so cute, just swimming along and living their lives
They make me think of Crush and Squirt from Finding Nemo 
One of them... ate a jellyfish oops but apparently that’s okay they eat them? 
According to Akaashi and the little description card on the giant tank, sea turtles eat jellyfish and they make them “high”
FINDING NEMO MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE NOW TO EVERYONE
But the REAL reason we came was to see the coral reef exhibit! 
There’s a BEAUTIFUL display of corals teeming with the brightest, most colorful tropical fish ever🐙🐠🐡🐟🐬🦈
We all pick our favs and name them after each other
Suga picked... a shark... I’m so sorry about him and his behavior
I picked this really cute fish with yellow spots 
You picked this pretty peachy colored angelfish (ofc it was peachy so on brand)
Akaashi settled on an octopus- why? who knows. 
Akaashi goes on a “SAVE THE CORAL REEFS” rant what an environmentalist king we stan 😤
There’s a tide pool touch tank too where we can feel the little starfish and sea sponges its v cute 
You can also feed the stingrays! 
they’re so sweet and gentle and cute
but we gotta keep our guard up bc rip steve irwin
The people who work at the aquarium get them to wave at us 
I may or may not have cried about it....
You and I both want gifts from the gift shop- and so we get t shirts but also matching shark tooth necklaces uwu (anna be my bff challenge) 🥺
We make our own little trip to a beach afterward, sitting along the shore and having a little bonfire, just admiring the calmness of toceanean and enjoying the company of good friends on an amazing day
Anna! Thanks for inviting us to the aquarium! Maybe next weekend we can go to the zoo? I heard there were penguins and I wanna see their cute faces... whattaya think? -Daisy🌼

A Cursed G Pt 25 (Gilgamesh, Enkidu, Hakuno)

She dressed up.
It was a bit of a mystery why she bothered to do so, but she found herself spending several minutes after the shower in the morning looking through her wardrobe and picking out something a bit nicer than some of her other attire.
Gilgamesh and Enkidu were talking about fish they’d looked up while she’d been asleep, the king commenting on building something similar once they returned to Uruk.
“We could put it in the gardens,” Enkidu offered.
“I would like to get a good look at these sharks, since they are prevalent to weather disasters and known for their violence against those who tread their waters. They remind me of my lions.”
She wasn’t going to get involved in that discussion.
No, instead she was putting on some of the jewelry that Gilgamesh had left in the room. She was brushing her hair out and taking the time to fix her dress a bit more before she found herself pausing by the mirror.
Ages ago, she would have been spending her Saturday afternoon in the living room, watching crime dramas and snacking on some cheap snack from her fridge. Her phone would have been on an app or playing some light music in a vain attempt to help her focus and to fill in the silence of the empty room. She would have taken the time to maybe order a pizza as the evening wore on, perhaps some Chinese food if she felt in the mood.
The woman in the mirror was entirely different.
The attire was far too much for a lazy weekend. The extra color to her face was entirely different from her usual pallor… and then there was the impression she got from her own reflection.
Things were happening.
They hadn’t really been happening before.
“Hakuno?”
A knock at the door stopped her from thinking too deeply about what it all meant. She closed her eyes and turned away from herself, opening her bedroom door and looking at the two.
“Ready?”
“We’ve been ready,” Enkidu promised.
They drove to the aquarium with the same conversation continuing of what to look at once they were inside. She found her hand slipping into Gilgamesh’s own as they made it to the parking lot near the place, Enkidu bouncing ahead only to walk backwards as they spoke.
And then they were soon inside.
The entrance was exactly the kind of thing that would impress the two: a large dome room showed a world of jellyfish swimming with a quiet ambiance of smooth jazz and the lines of those wishing to enter the rest of the building.
The movement of the jellyfish were just as soothing to watch as one would have hoped. Their string-like tentacles flowed forth from the great umbrella shaped bells of their body.
“Hakuno,” Gilgamesh nudged.
“Jellyfish. They’re called that because they’re really gelatinous. They look like they’d be really weak, but they’re packed with stingers on those tentacles that would cause serious damage.”
The line moved, inching forward further and further as Enkidu and Gilgamesh distracted themselves with looking at the scores of jellyfish swimming around them. She could feel Gilgamesh pulling her in, wrapping his arms around her more and taking in the area.
This is what the future holds.
It was things like this that she’d be giving up if she went to live forever in the past. There would be no watching majestic fish swim or listening to music without a band playing nearby. There wouldn’t be places were everyone could go to see something without having to have a certain status that she would lack due to her gender.
They made it in, with her paying their entrance fees and moving along.
Scores of colorfish passed them as they moved into the next room. A whole reef passed before their very eyes, with hundreds of fish moving in schools to and fro. The clay being stared in awe, needing her to tug them along to the glass to get a better view.
“This is impossible.”
“Welcome to the ocean, Enkidu.”
Gilgamesh was still holding her as Enkidu moved as close as possible and watched it all.
There was something about how they looked at it all.
She had never seen someone look that way before. Their eyes were so alight, their hands were pressed to the glass. She could see them trying and failing to keep their mouth shut. It helped with the light music playing, creating more and more of an atmosphere.
“Hakuno!”
Hakuno moved forward a bit, bringing the silent king with her as the being pointed to the floor of the large tank.
“Look at that! It matches the sand.”
“It does.”
“What’s it called?”
She hadn’t a clue, but… Her eyes went to the area around them, motioning to the sign nearby.
“You can learn about them there.”
The being took off for it, finger moving along the information panel a moment before they were noting the kids around them.
A series of eyes were looking to them as Enkidu laughed and began to read aloud for them.
“No sharks,” Gilgamesh noted.
“You want to see the sharks?”
The man shrugged, all too pleased with himself for some reason. Whatever was on his mind, she wasn’t going to intrude right now. Leave him to his bubble of emotional space.
She motioned for Enkidu and began to head deeper into the building.
The rooms grew darker and darker as they went.
Once per room, they had to stop.
The glowing fish from the pressured depths of the ocean had the king and clay’s attention. Hakuno found herself reading aloud the signs for them, remaining held in the king’s arms the whole time.
They paused again at the sight of the seahorses, watching them swim around and around in their circular tank, clinging to the plants within. Each of the little fish seemed to simply gleam like gold underneath the lights, drawing murmurs of praise from the clay being.
“They’d be noble steeds if they were bigger.”
“I don’t think they’d be the best ride for getting across the water.”
Enkidu dismissed that immediately with a handwave.
Further on they went.
And there, just beyond the anglerfish statue, was the large tank she had remembered all too well. The reef below and the anemones sheltered great numbers of clownfish. The depths of the coral showed signs of eels, all of whom seemed to be enjoying the task of sticking their heads out or simply bathing under the artificial lights of their enormous tank structure.
What was most important though were the fish on prominent display, swimming just over their heads and before their eyes. Their great size was only matched by the rows of teeth that a few showed off.
They lost Enkidu to their awe once more, finding the being scampering forward to look at the collection.
The room was mostly empty right now, but they could sit on the benches near the tank without anyone interrupting them.
It was nice to settle in, even moreso to just watch Enkidu move from panel to panel to read aloud from the information. They would look to her for clarification.
“New Zealand is south from here, it’s near Australia.”
“Australia is a country and continent. Think an enormous island.”
The being nodded at each answer before they began to follow after the movement of the large beasts above their head.
“That one has younglings,” Enkidu noted.
It did?
She looked up, finding the king’s face looking down at her.
They were… cuddling.
She hadn’t really noticed until she found his face so close to hers.
The whole time they had been traversing through the aquarium, she hadn’t moved more than a half a centimeter from the king’s side. Her hand had remained firmly laced with his, holding it close until this moment, when she realized that she was holding his hand.
Her heart began to beat a little faster in their tank surrounded space. The sounds of Enkidu’s voice seemed to blend in with the silence in the background.  Now there was just that soft beating in her ears, the sound of her own chest hammering away. She could feel her body warming as she felt the other’s shadow loom over her a bit more. She could feel him-
No, she couldn’t feel him moving.
He wasn’t moving an inch now. He had simply leaned a little closer, looking to her.
It was her who was closing the distance between them. It was her who was being the fool and prolonging this eye contact.
Her hand tangled in his hair, watching the smug hint of a smile. Her breath simply stopped at an inhale as the man tilted his head towards the hand she had in his hair. Her lips found his, seeming to almost drift to his.
There was something nice about being in his arms, she thought idly to herself.
Gilgamesh pulled her onto his lap.
Hakuno closed her eyes and simply sunk into the depths of his support.
This was truly like nothing else.
She hadn’t come here in so long, having found that none of her friends ever wanted to really look at the fish or learn more about them. She’d forgotten how much the building emptied out between the guided tours.
“Gil!”
Those lips pulled back, the king setting her on the bench before he moved to look at what Enkidu was pointing out.
It was genuine interest.
No humoring her like Cu and Emiya. No yawning like Rin and Rani. Sakura tried, but she would get tired after the seahorses and want to leave. It was rare that she got to visit this room.
They could see a couple turtles joining the swimming collection now, earning the king’s and the clay’s attention. The two were commenting on the shell and the capabilities of the creatures. Both of them were grinning, taking in the scene around them.
‘You plan to marry Gilgamesh, take him home, marry him there, and then come back here to…’
Hakuno looked around at the space they were in again.
There wasn’t a single soul in there with them right now. Everyone was opting for the guided tours so they could sit through the other unique features of the aquarium. There were no friends or acquaintances.
Right now, if she picked up her phone and she opened up her contacts, she had more for her bills and her money than she had for her friends.
“Hakuno!”
Enkidu was motioning at the turtle, mimicking its motions through the water. She couldn’t help the smile that came to her face at the sight, but…
‘It’s lonesome here,’ they had told her during the last evening.
It was lonesome here.
The being and the king were moving back to her side though, Enkidu leaning in and frowning a bit.
“Is something wrong?”
She was thinking about staying in Uruk, somewhere that she barely knew a thing about and was still working to become fluent in their language. She was considering staying with Gilgamesh, who she had only really just started to get to know.
And she was thinking now about the being smiling and dancing around them through the aquarium, finding unending joy in the sight of a bunch of little fishes and in turtles.
She was finding herself unable to make a list of things in her mind that required that she be here.
Everything in the world seemed to be moving her towards the hands that were extending her way. Both Gilgamesh and Enkidu were offering to help her to her feet.
Her hands went to theirs, finding herself up upon her feet once more before she was being led to the glass.
“We were looking at this fish,” the king informed her. “We’ve seen a few like it in our Euphrates.”
“That makes sense. It’s just a ah…” She paused, looking at the two as she realized.
They were speaking Sumerian.
How long had they been doing this? When had she stopped speaking her own language? She had been talking to the two, working around saying words and things that she meant, but she didn’t know the word for turtle.
“It’s a turtle,” Enkidu replied, motioning at the sign nearby.
She gave a small nod, moving to lean against Gilgamesh a bit more.
“I like a lot of the fish, but the turtles have always been one of the ones that I look for when I’m here.” She enjoyed their swimming around just as much as the being seemed to enjoy. She could see them looking at the scene before them and thinking deeply.
Perhaps…
She really shouldn’t miss a week of classes.
She would miss a couple more after that as well, missing the last of her semester. Her teachers wouldn’t be pleased. Her friends would be wondering about how she was doing.
The strong arms around her waist said that she wouldn’t fall into despair though. The being in front of them flashed a smile that said that everything would work out just fine. The more she was alone with these two, the more the world felt like their oyster.
The two at her side seemed like they ran the world. Money was not a worry. Boredom was gone, entirely out the window and running as far from her as possible. She wasn’t thinking about what had to be next.
Her eyes were on the scene she hadn’t seen in a good couple years and she was finding herself in awe with the two at her sides.
The world she lived in…
It felt like a pair of shoes she could no longer fit into.
The new life was too promising, too exciting and vast, lying just beyond her fingertips.
“Hakuno?”
Gilgamesh drew her attention back to him.
“We should keep moving.”
People were coming into the room, rushing to the glass as they stepped back.
Enkidu wrapped their arm around hers and motioned her to head off.
They moved to the next area, settling onto the front row for a show with whales and dolphins. The king and the clay being looked upon the beasts in excitement, chattering away to her about the beasts as they would perform flips and jump through hoops.
“Hakuno! They’ve tamed the beasts!”
“We should tame ours, Gil!”
“Enkidu’s right. We’ll have to look into how they managed this. The information should be on a sign, shouldn’t it?”
“I don’t see a sign nearby, Gil.”
She pulled the two in closer, pressing her lips to their cheeks.
The two settled in.
The two settled closer.
“Siduri would like this too,” Enkidu murmured as the show went on. She was nestled between them nicely as the show came to an end, leaving her to force herself and them up to their feet.
“We should head out, shouldn’t we? It’s getting towards closing,” she told them.
“Is it?” Gilgamesh asked, glancing to the room around them.
“Ah, right, they’re only open until a certain time.” Enkidu nodded. “We figured they’d just keep the place open for us.”
Every employee would hate them if they did that.
She shook her head, motioning towards the front doors. “It is getting close to dinner time.”
“Hold on,” Enkidu motioned to the manta exhibit nearby. “You can pet the fish here.”
It had been a while…
Her hand was in Enkidu’s immediately, Gilgamesh laughing as Hakuno ended up smirking to the being and leading them to the room nearby.
They had to pet the mantas.
The skates and the mantas were too cool to miss out on.
“Hakuno?”
Gilgamesh was talking to one of the employees nearby for a few minutes as they pet the fish. At the being’s call, Hakuno turned, glancing their way.
“This was a great trip. We never would have seen half of these fish if it weren’t for you.”
“You’re welcome.”
The being glanced to their friend again, their smile going soft.
“You are worried about him still?”
“I do not like thinking about Uruk without you there.”
She hadn’t even stepped foot there yet. They were in this world, learning about a bunch of fish they would never encounter outside of this building.
Perhaps it was best to tell the being about her change of heart in the shark exhibit. The more she got herself used to the idea, the more she found herself accepting that it was going to be a thing. She would need Enkidu’s help in the end, since she wouldn’t know much about living in the palace and Gilgamesh seemed like someone who would give half directions about things.
Her mouth opened. The words were on the tip of her tongue.
A slow shift from near one of the other doors caught her attention. The dark haired woman in white and gold glanced her way, smirking a little before looking to the king nearby.
“…Hakuno?”
She forced herself to look away from where the goddess was, to where Enkidu was.
“Did I say something wrong again?”
“No, I just…”
The woman was gone.
Enkidu looked uncomfortable, pulling their hand back and accepting a paper towel from a nearby worker.
“Enkidu,” Hakuno followed after them, wrapping her hand around their arm. “Listen-“
“It’s alright.”
“I want to stay in Uruk.”
She could feel the being still, but the room still felt off from before. It felt like Ishtar was still watching them.
The being in front of her turned to face her.
“You want to stay?”
“I do.”
It was risky, but she would have the two of them and Enkidu and Gilgamesh were both incredibly attentive. She wouldn’t get bored, not with so much to do and see. This world was at the touch of a keyboard and an internet browser search.
Their world was barely even touched upon in her most detailed of books. It was full of lives that they helped and a whole kingdom…
It would take adjusting, but she would do her best.
“Just promise not to let Ishtar near me,” she asked of the being.
“She will never touch you,” Enkidu vowed, pulling her into their arms and holding her tightly. “You will like Uruk. If anyone will get along with you well, it will be Siduri. You both’ll drive Gil and I crazy there.”
She really hoped so.
“Enkidu!”
Gil’s firm tone left the being snickering, hugging her closer.
“Aw, Gil, Hakuno and I were just sharing a warm embrace. You cuddle her so much I figured it was my turn. You had only how many months before I came along?”
“Don’t forget we can send you back to Uruk,” the man growled.
“He threatens me, Hakuno. What are we to do with him?”
Marry him, probably, Hakuno thought idly.
She found herself pulled back to his side, the two beginning an insult contest that was thankfully incoherent to the other aquarium guests. Their insults turned to playful jabs in the side as they left the building, heading further and further from the doors and towards the car.
Something still felt wrong.
Hakuno glanced back, frowning as she found nothing.
“…Gil?”
The king paused from giving the being a good kick in the rear end to glance her way. “What is it?”
“How much safer is Uruk compared to here?”
“It depends,” Enkidu answered for the king, “The gods protect the people when it’s divine problems, like other angry gods.”
There was a flicker of gold not too far off, just behind the bushes.
“I think I need to do my homework,” Hakuno told them both. “Let’s head home.”
