Toying with RvB Mobian AU. I can't believe I've never done this before because it's overwhelmingly on brand for me.

I'll work on more actual character designs later but here's some armor design process feat. the only character I already had an idea for. I'll have to figure out what animals everyone else should be and that will probably help me finalize which armor style I go with.

urusai danshi is boys who are loud as fuck. they talk in all caps all the time and say things that don't make sense to other people. the way they are perceived by the people around them and the narrative dictates if this is meant to be considered annoying or endearing, which is what the urusai danshi axis defines

Oh, and GOD FORBID they learn about what happened during Tails Adventure (hint: Tails made Napalm and threw bombs at people who weren’t robots, as well as crushing a guy with a rock)

Tails talks about his plane and walker a lot and complains how antiquated the stuff in Mobotropolis is. It's a bit of childish humble bragging, but he does really miss his workshop.

He and Sonic also argue who the Tornado belongs to as a hobby, and Sonic having a plane is somehow more strange than Tails having one.

Tho I think they'd think the weaponry is cool in the right hands. But their sibling and a kid aren't the right hands, Sonia is worried that Sonic has a gun and what desperation he fell to without his medallion (man I gotta bring in Shadow bc that's comedy)

On the other end, she just patronizes Tails by agreeing, "oh wow, I bet you do!" She just thinks that he knows someone who is packing heat and is exaggerating like kids do. There's no real way to change her mind, or any reason barring Tails' ego, and he is fuming for hours after that convo. If she ever sees it though, it's mostly disbelief and slowly dawning horror

I don't think they'd ever believe it, even after they see Tails as competent. They've been in war and they know how hard it is emotionally and the mental damage it inflicts.

Despite their very worrying discovery of Tails' new found love of plastic explosives, he looks well put together and seems pretty stable so they'd think it's kiddy-boasting, or dramatizing - Sonic doesn't know either

i love that sonic and tails are winning on those siblings poll not because of their popularity, but because every time they’re up against blood-related siblings, people get all prissy in the notes about how adopted/found-family siblings aren’t REAL siblings and therefore the other pair should win by default, and people (including fans of the other sibling pair) will vote in favor of sonic and tails out of spite because of that. i just think that’s so funny. they’re sweeping because nobody wants to invalidate adoptive siblings. love that.

i think the end being the most powerful opponent sonic has ever faced makes sense if you take away like the whole power tier list stuff and go by what the end represents in the lore because a lot of people call up solaris as the most powerful still. like solaris is still one of the most powerful things in the sonic universe dont get me wrong but the end quite literally represents the concept of the end for everything. its like entropy itself the fact that all things must decay as a fact. its effectively a reaper after all it does take the form of the viewer’s perception of death. everything will meet an end, even solaris a god

if I do write said prologue and epilogue for this piece, I could highlight/acknowledge the theme/gimmick surrounding choice. bc shadow 05 is all abt choice. choosing to help, choosing to destroy or abandon or go your own way. shadow, reflective of the 05 story or not, is a character all abt agency

each stage, shadow has an option, a choice to be making. and in this piece in particular, he began with one, only to choose another and he has to navigate the emotional and moral consequences of that subsequent. especially in this directed path of shadow choosing to side with black doom and carry out his evil bidding in both the previous stages

he is going to be left wondering why. that the minute black doom leaves him alone, the minute he thinks he can search for an answer on his own- he chooses to assist a girl he may not remember in finding/saving her friends. why he felt compelled to selflessness over selfishness

and little does he know it, amy has the exact same effect as she did before. subconsciously coercing him back into the light. to once again see the brighter side - the payoff that can come from being gentle and kind
