Fun fact about the Sonic OVA catgirl! Her name is spelled differently every time I see it. In the video game she plays with Robotnik, her name is marked as "Seira," which is a separate Japanese name from "Sara," which is spelled out on the badnik's sign referencing her. I'm more inclined to use Seira as it's more likely that she herself spelled it out in the video game select screen, meaning that might be the spelling she uses, but both interpretations are valid, esp since the "Sara" is more prominent.

The reason I bring this up is that, as I said, Seira and Sara are separate names. Seira is a Japanese name with a lot of possible kanji combinations, but the most common translates to "water music." Sara, meanwhile, is Hebrew, and means "lady, princess, noblewoman."

So this gal is either River Song or Princess Princess Moon Moon and idk which is funnier

Hey folks, I started to draw Shadow the Hedgehog and I hope you’ll like it. I already made the sketch of Rouge’s concept.

To be honest I created the idea of Sonic the Edge of Horizon for a reason. When I was kid, I watched one interesting ova movie which it came out from 90’s “Sonic the Hedgehog”. I was curious about it, so I watched it. It had two parts of ova movie, but still I was amazed with world, animation, design of location, and the story was much different than we can see right now from Sonic video games, tv shows, movies, and comics. Even thought there are some characters which everyone might forgot about it (Seira/Sarah, The Mayor, and the old owl.)

I just thought that maybe I can create sonic au, which it can be connected with ova. I think Sonic the Hedgehog ova, have a big potential and I would like to see as the animation tv series/comic.

Sure! I put them in order of debut/release date. I realized while making this that I messed up the order of Shade and Merlina so I swapped em.

Amy Rose - first debuted in 1992 Shogakukan manga

Sally Acorn - SatAM and Archie canon. Was first created for SatAM but debuted in the comics first as a promo.

Bunnie Rabbott - SatAM and Archie canon. Same as Sally.

Breezie - Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog; she also appeared in Archie but with a diff personality. She was one of the few recurring female characters (along with Ms Possum and Mama Robotik) but since her appearances had actual arcs for her I picked her for the set.

Dulcy the Dragon - SatAM, wasn't as major in Archie iirc. Debuted in SatAM second season.

Seira - Sonic OVA, 1996.

Sonia the Hedgehog - Sonic Underground, 1998. I considered including Aleena as well but it's hard to find decent shots of her and she's barely onscreen. Also was hard to find a good shot of Sonia but that's just bc I hate the animation in this show.

Tikal the Echidna - first debuted in 1998's Sonic Adventure. Appeared later in Sonic X (where the gif is from) and I want her to come back pls

Lumina Flowlight - only appearance so far is Sonic Shuffle in 2000, but she's a major presence throughout the entire game.

Rouge the Bat - first debuted in 2001's Sonic Adventure 2. Gif is from Shadow Dark Beginnings.

Maria Robotnik - same as Rouge

Cream the Rabbit - first debuted in Sonic Advance 2 (2002)

Vanilla the Rabbit - first debuted in Sonic Advance 2 (2002). She appears more in supplementary materials (comics, Sonic Channel) than the games proper (hence why her gif is from Sonic X), but she does so enough that I felt safe counting her as a major character.

Ella - Sonic X. Secondary character who appears through almost every episode of seasons 1-2.

Topaz - Sonic X. Secondary character but major due to her partnership with Rouge as a GUN agent. Also her and Rouge are kinda fruity. Appears in seasons 1-2.

Cosmo - Sonic X season 3. Pretty much the main character of that arc.

Blaze the Cat - debuted in Sonic Rush (2005).

Wave the Swallow - debuted in Sonic Riders (2006).

Princess Elise III - major character in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).

Shahra the Genie - major character in Sonic and the Secret Rings (2007).

Sara Headcanons/Drabbles

This is a list of my Sara Sonic OVA headcanons and drabbles.

Being raised in a sheltered life in the Land of the Sky, Sara comes off as prissy, spoiled, selfish, and lacking in empathy for others. But underneath it all, she is actually a very sweet, purehearted, and caring person who is very sensitive to the feelings of others and will protect her friends at any cost. After the events of Sonic OVA, Sara has shed most of her spoiled mannerisms and is very confident, upbeat, and adventurous.

Sara's species is something that I call a "Neko-onna," meaning "Cat-woman," taken from the Yuki-onna ("snow woman"), a spirit or yokai in Japanese folklore that is often depicted in Japanese literature, films, or animation. and Nekomusume, meaning "Catgirl," a female kemonomimi character with feline traits such as cat ears (nekomimi), a cat tail, or other feline characteristics on an otherwise human body. Catgirls are found in various fiction genres and, in particular, in Japanese anime and manga.

And I just give Sara's dad cat ears and a tail to make it easier on my headcanon, he is called a “Neko-otoko,” (“Cat-man”).

Sara's Abilities:

Claw Retraction: Sara can project or retract razor-sharp claws from her fingertips.

Climbing: Sara is able to climb and otherwise move effortlessly and smoothly on angled or vertical surfaces, taking advantage of any handholds they find, no matter how small, on trees, rocks, walls, etc.

Nictitating Membrane Protrusion: Sara can generate nictitating membranes for her eyes, usually for eye protection while maintaining vision.

Powerful Bite: Sara has a particularly strong bite, because of her sharp fangs and strong jaw muscles.

Pheromone Generation: Sara can secrete powerful pheromones that have a variety of effects on others, all related to behavior.

Tapetum Lucidum Manifestation AKA Eyeshine Creation: Sara can generate Tapetum Lucidum, layers of tissue in the eye of many vertebrates.

Vertical Pupils: Sara can generate vertical pupils in her eyes. She can also transform her regular eyes into vertical pupils.

Sara's father made sure that she was never going to be defenseless, so he had her trained in martial arts and mixed martial arts. So, I'd say that she's very skilled in the fighting department. And seeing how she handled herself with Robotnik in the OVA, I mean, come on, Sara kicks ass!

Sara has a belly button piercing. (It pairs nicely with her crop top.)

Sara has a gaming channel called "Gaming Gamer Girl." The name is supposed to be silly, stupid, and ironic.

Sara's gaming channel, streams, and social media are very popular, and she has a large following.

Sara does makeup and cosplay tutorials and fashion unboxing videos. The clothes and cosplays are given to her by her sponsors.

Sara has her own fashion and makeup line.

Sara is best friends with Elise, Maria, Amy, Blaze, Honey, Rouge, Wave, Whisper, Topaz, and Tangle. but she is closest to Elise, Maria, Topaz, Amy, Honey, Rouge, and Tangle.

Sara is a member of Team Chaotix; she joined when Knuckles introduced her to Vector, Espio, and Charmy. 

Knuckles noticed how she could really take care of herself and thought that her feistiness and sincerity would be good for Team Chaotix.

Sara plays video games with Elise, Maria, Eggman, Vector, Charmy, Tangle, Tails, Sonic, and her dad.

Her favorite color is pink, and she is proud of it.

Sara is Cream's babysitter and babysits for Vanilla often. I thought it would be nice for Sara to get into babysitting because it really showcases her nurturing side, and she's really great with kids, and being an ex-brat herself, she really knows how to deal with the brats.

She is Cream’s big sis, and she found a mother figure in Vanilla and enjoys cooking, knitting, and folding laundry with her whenever she's at Cream and Vanilla's house. She even got Vanilla interested in playing video games with her, especially the horribly scary ones.

Sara teases Vector about his crush on Vanilla and plays matchmaker for them. (I’m a Vectilla shipper.)

Sara's mother died when she was very young, so she doesn't have a lot of memories of her, and it upsets her greatly.

Sara had a crush on Sonic, but now she is Knuckles' girlfriend. At first, she had no idea that Knuckles liked her, especially after she kissed him. She quickly noticed how Charmy and Vector would tease Knuckles whenever he would ask her if she would like to go treasure hunting with just him.

T.W. Barker has developed a liking for Sara and wants her to be in his circus as his “tightrope walking princess.” (His words, not mine.)

why do you keep calling sara "seria"? im really confused you're the only person i have seen call her that

It's a bit hard to see, but in the OVA when she plays the videogame with Eggman she spells her name as Seira.

I like to use this spelling because it's one that's not common where I come from and it helps differentiate her from the one shit billion other Saras and Sarahs.

Edit: More quick notes - iirc the only time we see her name spelt “Sara” in the OVA is on the sign made by a robot, and I personally think the video game is more telling of how she spells it considering she likely input the name herself there. 

Also! While “Sara/h” is derived from Hebrew and means “lady/princess/noblewoman”,  “Seira” is actually a Japanese name that likely means “water music.”
