Guys.. there's something I need to confess..

If you guys ever thought that my Sonic and Sonic.exe phase are bad.. just know, that..

My Minecraft phase was even WORSE as a kid.

NO- FR- I used to play the game so much on my mom's old computer, I accidentally got blown up by my first mob, which was a Creeper (because I genuinely thought it was harmless), I even got 2 Minecraft plushies (I think.?) And a Minecraft poster of a cat chasing a creeper. I used to have 2 posters, but one of them just didn't wanna stick on the wall, so my mom had to put it away because the corner were already ripped a bit. I even used to have this big Minecraft torch that I would put on my wall as a nightlight (but it eventually faded in light and had to be put away as well)-- hell, I even have a Minecraft bed sheet as well as 2 pillow covers for my 2 pillows (because I had a little Among us phase and now have a blanket, 2 plushies, and a pillow cover relating to that game- BUT WE DONT TALK ABOUT THAT ^^"). And if you think that isn't enough, I have 2 little figures of Alex and this... Blaze (I think thats what it was..? Idk), both of them in minecarts stored inside of the little pokeballs I have on the desk close to the mirror. I think I might have a few Minecraft related stuff hidden away, but I'm too lazy to think about them since I just woke up and started writing this-- but yea....

I even used to have the Minecraft Story Mode games, and even Minecraft on the Xbox because WHY NOT?! :]

Though.. I didn't play Minecraft on the Xbox as much since I was so used to the PC version, so it was a bit hard to control it.

Not only that, but the fact I used to hear fanmade Minecraft parody songs of popular songs at the time.... I used to hear so many parodies of my favorite songs, even the infamous "Don't Mine at Night" song 😭

I used to hear it so much that, now when I hear those said popular songs on the radio I always play when I'm asleep, I start to remember the lyrics of those Minecraft parody songs more than the actual songs playing on the radio WHICH- MIND YOU- ITS STILL MY FAVORITE RADIO STATION TO THIS DAY DESPITE THE OBVIOUS SUGGESTIVE SONGS💀😭

But they bring back old classics sometimes and even some good new songs, so its all good👍 (and hey, maybe even a bit of Disney songs at rare times, or maybe some songs that I've heard in animation memes- those are always fun to stumble into when listening to the same radio station for years, now.)

But uhmm.................

But I guess I can't say my Minecraft phase wasn't too bad, per se...? Because I did the same with My Little Pony, The Powerpuff Girls, Pokemon, Five Nights at Freddy's(that phase was.... hell, actually. I couldn't stop talking about the game to my parents- and because of the movie that came out a long time ago but is still recent- it boosted the little fnaf phase that i had left hanging by a thread due to my Sonic phase taking over, i got to buy fnaf merch as well--), Bendy and The Ink Machine(it was a bit minor, but it definitely did a very good impact to my phase with FNAF), Cuphead(again, i watched gameplay and started hearing cuphead fan songs over and over, and i even have both Cuphead games that i never finished- i think i used to have a comic dub phase where i would watch so many cuphead dubs as well as FNAF and Baldi's Basics), Just Shapes and Beats (again- i just watched so much gameplay, I even had an animation meme phase that lasted up to 2022, and played the Story Mode many times as well as making my parents play the multi-player mode with me :])-- Fandroid, and then there was a bit of Osu one day, then I went from Nightcore to hearing Vocaloid, and then FNF (which was just watching the gameplays of almost all of the fnf mods I knew as well as hearing some of the fnf mod songs over and over, which i still do! It's just... filled with demon hedgehogs that have a little word next to them called "EXE", so uhm... YEA-), and not only that, but fnf mods were actually the ones that introduced me to the Fleetway comics and even started my Sonic.exe phase (which I still have.......-) and then I eventually watched gameplay of the Sonic.exe fan games, too.)

So, uhm...

Me having a Sonic phase isn't exactly new...

But I'm back to buying merch. And when I say that, I mean like.. I got at least 3 T-shirts of this blue gumball son of a gun, 2 Shadow plushes, 3 Sonic plushes, a rectangle package that has at least 4 or 3 official Sonic art as frames to put on the wall (but I never did because the nails that I see in my room are kinda running out, so it's just sitting there on the floor, using the wall as support to keep it up), a little Sonic school pouch to put in my school stuff, some Sonic stickers--

I think it's obvious that you can find a little bit of everything in my room.

So uh.....

My first itabag! A bit of this a bit of that, ROTTMNT, Tsuritama and Chainsaw Man with a touch of Sonic, Dorohedoro, Gintama, Pandora Hearts, Osomatsu-san and ocs.

It’s a bit of a mess but I love the hobby and I doubt this’ll be my last one, I might tweak this one a bit too, or get another insert to swap out. Some charms at the bottom hang too low, and there were other things I wanted to put in the bottom corners too. I might put a big Hozuki keychain I have on the side hmm… With this size it’d have been fun building around putting in my 12" Metal Sonic Jazwares figure and a Metal Sonic plush I have, but ahh some other day… I struggled with it because the weight of it all made the insert sag and fold over, I didn’t see anything on the topic online so what I did is I found a big sturdy cardboard, and pinned the finished insert to it… Two cardboards for good measure. Oh also my badges have reflective plastic covers.

Actually, I nearly missed this event and I'm so happy I didn't because I met two legends there. Okay, three - Faye was the first one.

I've never met Jackie-O in person and it was a pleasure to thank him for his work. He's a very popular cover singer, he performed many Sonic themes (and Call Me Call Me from Bebop), I asked to sign my copy of limited fanmade audiotape with STH covers (he performed His World and I translated Fading World and The Light of Hope).

And, of course, I couldn't miss the chance to meet our talented Jet voice actor, Aleksandr Filchenko.

I like the lipstick mark on Spike's face that Faye cosplayer made, I'll leave it for a while because it's funny 😁

Bebop isn't very popular today but I was surprised to hear opening song in the hall 😭

The funniest thing is I could actually come in for free. I got the ticket before the sold out and I arrived 3 hours after the opening, many visitors were chilling outside, I just came in, got my bag searched and that's all. I have no regrets though.

Dubious Depths Present [US]: How I made a guitar tone for my fanmade Sonic track.

Hello there! This is my first ever post on this site.

Quick introduction: I am a hobbyist musician. Since 2022, I've been honing my skills in various areas, including mixing, producing and composing. I also have a good amount of music theory knowledge. My style is influenced by old cartoons and VGM.

Now that we're done with that, I'll get to what I initially wanted to talk about. On November 2023, I released a fanmade track, in the style of the American OST of Sonic CD. You can take a listen by yourself here. Since then, a few people have asked me how I made the guitar tone I used through Discord DMs. So, I decided to make a tutorial for it!

1. SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

Kontakt 7 Player or Kontakt 7 (as of writing this, Kontakt 8 has released already, so you'll see that one instead)

Session Guitarist - Electric Mint (it's usually 99 € but it goes on sale for 50 € every now and then, usually Easter and Christmas)

Any DAW

2. LOADING THE BASICS

Load Kontakt in a new instrument track in your DAW, and the "melody" version of Session Guitarist. You'll be greeted with the Paterns tab (if you feel lost, watch the official walkthrough). The default preset (1 Mint Pop) should be loaded:

Set the Plectrum/Finger switch to Plectrum and the Poly/Mono switch to Poly. You can adjust the vibrato however you like.

Next, open the Amps & FX tab and clear everything. Next, load the Distortion, VAN 51, SOLID COMP and IR REVERB effects.

Now, I'll cover the settings for each effect...

3. Distorion Settings

On the Main settings:

Distortion: 50%

Tone: 50%

Volume: 61.3%

On the EQ settings:

Bass: 25.5%

Mid: 59.8%

Treble: 0%

4. VAN 51 Settings

Set it to Rhythm and adjust as follows:

Gain: 34.3% (Hi Gain: OFF)

Bass: 0% (Bright: ON)

Mid: 48%

Treble: 0%

Resonance: 0%

Presence: 83%

Master: 28.4% (Crunch: ON)

5. IR REVERB Settings

Choose the preset 1 Short Spring and adjust as follows:

Pre-Delay: 16ms

Tone: 20k Hz LP

Mix: 60%

6. SOLID COMP Settings

Adjust as follows:

Threshold: -4.7 dB

Attack: 0.3 ms

Release: 1600 ms

Ratio: 3:1

Output: 3.2 dB

Mix: 100%

7. Guitar Settings

Our final step is to adjust a few things on the Guitar Settings tab. Head over there and do the following adjustments:

Pickup Selection: Bridge (Doubling: OFF)

Electric Signal (Tone): 48%

8. You're done!

Now you can use it however you like! I personally added some delay in the mixer channel later. Here are the results:

When submitting a different version of something, don't forget to make it clear.

The askbox and posts submission are open for y'all to share sonic music you like that don't fit the tournament's criteria, such as fan songs. When the tournament starts, it will probably still be open and you can share stuff that didn't get in

the original versions of Live and Learn and the Mega Drive version of Green Hill Zone from Sonic 1 are already included, so you don't have to submit them, but you can submit other versions, like the live version.

Submission criteria

Any music present in the games themselves can be submitted, rules below are irrelevant

You can submit music from different sonic media, but they have to be made specifically for it. So you can submit Gotta Go Fast, or Stars in the Sky, but you can't submit Midori no Hibi or Uptown Funk.*

The previous rules also include official sonic albums that are made for or inspired by Sonic.

Different versions of sonic music made by the original artist are accepted even if they aren't in any games or official sonic albums.

Beta versions and unused music can also be submitted.

You can't submit fanmade content like fan songs, covers or remixes

*songs that first appear in sonic media are considered as made for it

I'm trying to do either 48 or 40 candidates, but that might change depending on how many submissions i get

Kraftwerk - Singles (1973-2007)

Is it Tour de France time yet? I guess that's still a couple weeks away. But you can get psyched up for it (or not) by listening to several hours' worth of Kraftwerk singles via this decades-spanning fanmade compilation — including a whole lot of the group's heavy breathing "Tour de France" epic. And there's a whole lot more here: remixes, alternate versions, instrumentals, edits, etc. All good for the 'werk obsessive.

Prairiewolf has been covering "Kometenmelodie" live lately, so I've had that gorgeous melody floating through my head 24/7 — I love the slo-mo version that appears near the beginning of this comp. The Feelies/Willies have brought that one back as well, to great effect. And have you checked out William Tyler's brilliant rendition of "Radioactivity" from his recent live album yet? It's killer. For all their revolutionary sonic/textural influence, it's a reminder that Kraftwerk was just a great pop band, too, with hooks for days.

"We love our machines," Florian Schneider once said. "We have an erotic relationship with them." And with the rise of AI giving everybody the heebie-jeebies in 2023, I'm pondering that attitude. Kraftwerk are tricky — they celebrate technology in a lot of ways, though that celebration comes with a hefty dose of irony, I think. It's definitely not all satire, however; I think that their catalog represents a kind of magical thinking about tech. Kraftwerk is perfectly aware of the very real dangers of this stuff, but they try to present a more utopian outcome, one where humanity can benefit instead of crumble. It's a dream, sure, but you've gotta dream to escape the nightmare, right?

Ok maybe this isnt even remotely interesting to anyone but me. but im posting it for myself cuz i finally have it all as a full circle. everything i like is connected theory :3

also i like eddsworld, mlp and sonic so if u like those three maybe this is a little cool to u idk

so. these three were big internet popular stuff in the 2000s, so theres a lot of fancrossovers. i think thats silly and cool, but im focusing on canon/official/real connections. even if theyre connected by a small thread, LOL. also a few may be one sided but that doesnt matter 2 me!

surprisingly, there are actually fanmade crossovers of these 2 and i just like. smiled super wide when i first found it.

BUT like i said before, i wanna focus on 'official' stuff! a lot of current ew animators and staff are sonic fans, n draw sonic and stuff. i think thats super cool! but thats not the only thing..!.!.

i feel like a more direct connection is pretty awesome-er......... like these sonic mentioned/referenced stuff Edd Gould made!! idk if theres more, but this is enough 4 me! im not sure if he was a big sonic fan or anything, but either way its still pretty cool.

for those of you who happened to miss it, Ryan Drummond, the first English voice for sonic the hedgehog (specifically for Sonic Adventures 1, 2, and Sonic Heroes) was recently found to have had an extramarital affair with Emi Jones, a cover artist and VA in the sonic fandom whose prior engagements included recording a fanmade audio drama together with Drummond.

one of the encounters of this affair apparently involved Drummond (who has a wife and children) using the voice he did for sonic during sex with Jones. it should also be noted that in the above-mentioned audio drama that Jones just so happened to have also voiced tails the fox
