Everything Has Changed (X) (Erik Durm Imagine)

Erik sighed while watching the abstract of the ivory clouds contrast with the azure sky. He sat there, fidgeting in his seat, while Marco, who was sitting by his right, nodded his head to the lyrics of some unfamiliar rap song that blared through his Beats earbuds. He heard the echoes of his teammates laughter as Christian lost, yet again, another round of cards. He rung his bell for assistance, causing you to annoyingly groan to the other flight attendant, Anna, as she mouthed, ‘here we go again.’

“God they’re like children,” you complained to Anna as you fixed your uniform, and then made your way over to the gentleman in seat 23.

“Um,” he asked quietly while pools of blue gazed up at you, “May I have some-um-water?”

You commercially beamed at him, and replied with joyous content, “Certainly,” as if getting him water was somehow the highlight of your day.

As you strided away from him, you heard the same discreet voice call out, “Please.” You turned around, and cocked your head confusedly at him. “I-uh-forgot to say, please,” he added loquaciously causing you to stare quizzically at him. Erik’s cheeks flushed bright red as a chorus of sniggering emanated from his teammates sitting near him.

“Dude, we totally saw you checking her out!” the youngest, Christian, cheered ebulliently as others began to follow suit.

“Yeah, and it’s not really that smooth,” Aubame chuckled, “to stutter, I forgot to say please,” he imitated, causing his Marc Bartra to double-over in laughter. The assemblage of his teammates newfound enthusiasm, caused Marco to peal off his headphones, and mouth to Aubame scandalously, ‘what did I miss?”  

“Ah, just Erik trying, but failing to flirt with the hot flight attendant over there,” Aubame taunted, gesturing over to you.

Your eyes irritatedly scanned the scene in front of you, as the men unmistakingly imitated your actions; This engendered Anna to coldly hiss, “What pretentious assholes,” in your ear as she hastily strutted back towards Borussia Dortmund’s goalie to suggestively fawn over him.  

As you traipsed back over to the gentleman in seat 23, his teammates sniggering began to ensue, causing you frantically check your uniform to see if anything was disarray, as you thought to yourself, ‘What the hell could be so funny.’ “Here’s your water,” you affirmed, confidently handing him a bottle of Fiji water.

“He sure is thirsty,” the blonde hair man sitting juxtaposition to seat 23 surmised, as his teammates began to encore with crude laughter. At this point, you were beyond fed up- you hated being on the receiving end of cruel jokes, especially when the perpetrators were arrogant millionaires who kicked around a ball for a living.

“I’m sorry,” you chimed in with the artificial smile on your face, as you turned to the blonde who was smirking coyly at you, “May I help you?”

“No,” he coughed in between laughs, as he ran his hand leisurely through his flaxen hair. “But you know what, how about I just ask you for your number because Erik over here,” he suggested, nodding to the man you had gotten water for, “Will never do it himself.”

As you nervously wrote down your number on a spare napkin and handed it to Erik, his cerulean eyes lit up, as a timid smile began to form on his face. You shyly bit the flesh on your bottom lip as you longingly stared at him one last time before returning to the cockpit. “And uh-y/n,” you heard the dulcet voice call out, as you glanced down at your name tag before locking onto his gaze, “thanks.”

His teammates began roaring with laughter, as you heard the youngest brunette eagerly pipe, “I can’t believe he did it again!”
