Riarkle + Who Says You Can’t Go Home by Bon Jovi

Riley moved through her living room, still half asleep at this early time of the morning, and rubbed at her eyes before opening the door. Upon opening it, she’d rubbed at her eyes again. 

Farkle Minkus stood, dripping wet, outside her apartment with a bashful smile. After high school- and painful break up with Smackle- Farkle had near on fled New York City. Riley hadn’t seen him in near four years, a though they’d tried to keep in contact, it had been a while since she’d heard from him. Last she’d heard had been nearly six months ago, when Farkle had been at some hospital lab in Europe, trying to cure Alzheimers. 

“Farkle,” She said in surprise, face breaking into a huge grin. She rushed forward, not caring how wet her friend seemed to be, and wrapped herself up around him. Four years, and Farkle still smelled the same. Her heart still felt the same when she hugged him, too. 

Farkle pulled back and his eyes were a little wet, too. “I’ve seen so many places in this world, and I’ve done a million things,” he said, as Riley stepped aside so he could come into the room. “But it always felt temporary being there. It wasn’t home. New York has always been home. Home has always been wherever you are. I can’t pretend anything else.”

Riley reached out and pinched at his cheeks.
