the way I just know musical tumblr and the rest of the internet would be obsessed with Mula sa Buwan (musical retelling of Cyrano de Bergerac set in 1940s WWII Philippines) but it’s locked behind a language barrier

Related festivals:
• Sukkot- is a Torah-commanded holiday celebrated for seven days, beginning on the 15th day of the month of Tishrei. It is one of the Three Pilgrimage Festivals (Hebrew: שלוש רגלים, shalosh regalim) on which those Israelites who could were commanded to make a pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem. In addition to its harvest roots, the holiday also holds spiritual importance with regard to its abandonment of materialism to focus on nationhood, spirituality, and hospitality, this principle underlying the construction of a temporary, almost nomadic, structure of a sukkah.
• Mid-Autumn festival- also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a traditional festival celebrated in Chinese culture. Similar holidays are celebrated by other cultures in East & Southeast Asia. It is one of the most important holidays in Chinese culture; its popularity is on par with that of Chinese New Year. The history of the Mid-Autumn Festival dates back over 3,000 years. The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese lunisolar lunisolar calendar with a full moon at night, corresponding to mid-September to early October of the Gregorian calendar. On this day, the Chinese believe that the Moon is at its brightest and fullest size, coinciding with harvest time in the middle of Autumn.
• Thanksgiving- This is a secular holiday which is similar to the cell of Mabon; A day to give thanks for the food & blessings of the previous year. The American Thanksgiving is the last Thursday of November while the Canadian Thanksgiving is celebrated in October
• Festival of Dionysus- There were several festivals that honored Dionysus, the God of wine. It was a time of fun, games, feasting & drinking wine.
Activities:
•Scatter offerings in a harvested fields, Offer libations to trees
• Decorate your home and/or altar space for fall
• Bake bread
• Perform a ritual to restore balance and harmony to your life
• Cleanse your home of negative energies
• Pick apples
• Have a dinner or feast with your family and/or friends
• Set intentions for the upcoming year
• Purge what is no longer serving you
•Take a walk in the woods
• Enjoy a pumpkin spice latte
• Donate to your local food bank
• Gather dried herbs, plants, seeds & pods
• Learn something new
• Make wine
• Brew an apple cinnamon simmer pot
• Create an outdoor Mabon altar
•Adorn burial sites with leaves, acorns, & pinecones to honor those who have passed over & visit their graves
Many cultures see the second harvest (after the first harvest Lammas) and equinox as a time for giving thanks. This time of year is when farmers know how well their summer crops did, and how well fed their animals have become. This determines whether you and your family would have enough food for the winter. That is why people used to give thanks around this time, thanks for their crops, and animals, and food.
The name Mabon comes from the Welsh God, who was the son of the Earth Mother Goddess. However, there is evidence that the name was adopted in the 1970s, and the holiday was not originally a Celtic celebration.
Some believe Night and day are of equal legth and the God's energy & strength are nearly gone . The Goddess begins to mourn the loss she knows is coming, but knows he will return when he reborn at Yule.

it is a different version of the text??? apparently the most widely known version is a revised one from 1932, while the one i got is the original 1928 one that was the basis for the premiere as well
most dialogue parts are pretty much the same, but there are some big differences in the songs - it lacks the third stanza of the Zuhälterballade (which is the BEST one!!), the ENTIRETY of the Ballade von der sexuellen Hörigkeit (which is one of the best songs!!), the entire Kampf um das Eigentum scene (dialogue and all) + Arie der Lucy, as well as some stanzas of Salomon-Song and Seeräuber-Jenny and all of Polly's song after Mac leaves her
there are somehow a lot more stage directions, and they a lot more detailed as well, but a few key moments of dialogue are different as well - as far as I can remember it lacks the description of the five types of misery in the first scene with Jonathan and Filch, but has quite a lot of additional dialogue in the scene where Brown attends the wedding, also there's additional dialogue between Jonathan and Brown in the scene where he snitches on Mac, it lacks part of Mac's 'final' monologue and a part of his conversation with Polly in the scene where he prepares to flee to Highgate, and the scene where he jumps out of the brothel window and meets Celia is shortened (and less funny, if I dare say so)
i might have bought a second edition of the threepenny opera just because i could (it's the annotated version tho so it has cool extra content)

LACUNA COIL Recruits INVERNO Guitarist DANIELE SALOMONE
Tumblr media
Italian guitarist/producer Daniele Salomone has confirmed that he has joined LACUNA COIL as the replacement for the band's longtime guitarist Diego Cavallotti.
Earlier today, Salomone took to his Instagram to share a photo and a short clip from LACUNA COIL's video shoot for the song "Oxygen" and he included the following message: "I'm so grateful to @lacunacoilofficial for this amazing experience . I'm very honoured to help them. I want to thanks a lot @cristinascabbia @maki @andrea_ferro_official & @richardmeiz (aka pastafrollo) for trusted me. so yes guys the Unknown man it's me …"
Salomone made his live debut with LACUNA COIL on August 4 at the Rockstadt Extreme Fest in Râșnov, Romania.
This past June, LACUNA COIL announced Cavallotti's departure. Diego, who joined LACUNA COIL in 2016, initially as a fill-in guitarist following the exit of Marco "Maus" Biazzi, later said in a social media post that "this decision is not the result of my dissatisfaction or desire to explore new opportunities."
When LACUNA COIL announced Cavallotti's exit on June 17, the band wrote in a statement: "As we step into a new cycle, writing and recording our next album, we are parting ways with Diego 'DD' Cavallotti. We thank him for the many unforgettable moments shared over the years and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
"All future live plans remain unchanged and the new songs are taking form, we can't wait to share them with our fans."
Cavallotti and Salomone played together in the Italian metal band INVERNO, which released its debut album, "Stasis", in December 2023.
LACUNA COIL will release its tenth studio album, "Sleepless Empire" — the band's first collection of new songs since 2019's "Black Anima" — on February 14th, 2025 via Century Media Records.
Inspiration to create "Sleepless Empire" came during the sessions for "Comalies XX" (2022),the acclaimed remake of LACUNA COIL's breakthrough third record "Comalies". Writing and recording took place in northern Italy between Milano (the band's hometown) and Como, where SPVN Studios are located. As with their previous albums, production was done in house with Marco "Maki" Coti Zelati at the helm, and artwork was hand curated by the talented Italian artist Roberto Toderico. Two other very special talents enrich the album, namely the guest vocalists: LAMB OF GOD's Randy Blythe on the song "Hosting The Shadow" and NEW YEARS DAY's Ash Costello on "In The Mean Time".

01-02.09.24 | Samsung Performing Arts Theater, Circuit Makati X Filling Station, Poblacion
So our indecisive asses finally made a decision between MSB and OMC. Although I've watched MSB 3x already, I'm still excited to watch it every time they have a rerun. Since it was last minute, (we booked a Sept. 1 show on Aug 30 lmao how impulsive) we were not able to get the seats that we initially preferred but pleased that we still get a good view from the seats we got (Loge - Left Side)
My dudes, Mula sa Buwan did not disappoint. This year's rerun brought more! The songs were top notch, as they have always been. In addition, the stage itself was graced with gorgeous back drop and projection.
Myke Salomon did Cyrano justice, but it will always be Gab Pangilinan's Roxanne that captivated me. Her live vocals is what I pay those tickets for!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The show started at 1930H so we were not able to grab an early dinner prior. We went out of the theater with my girlie pop being antok and hungry hahaha. So we booked a ride from Circuit to Poblacion. The rain has not stopped so we just went to Filling Station (since it operates 24H and we weren't sure how long we'll be stuck with the inclement weather)
With her being antok and hungry, she kinda over ordered yet again, resulting in take aways lmao. I got my favorite strawberry milkshake and buffalo wings. We shared a pizza and salad, while she ordered pasta and steak for herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Took some cute photographs downstairs before booking a ride to her workplace at 0500H. After we got there, I booked my own ride home. Clingy? Di na lang nag book from Poblacion, hinatid pa nga hahaha.
Really glad to have someone watch my favorite stage musical with me. Now she asks if I want to watch OMC as well because she enjoyed MSB so much daw hahaha idk mayaman ba ko?

Charlotte Salomon (16 April 1917 – 10 October 1943) was a German-Jewish artist born in Berlin.
She is primarily remembered as the creator of an autobiographical series of paintings Leben? oder Theater?: Ein Singspiel (Life? or Theater?: A Song-play), the largest known artwork made by a Jewish person who died in the Holocaust.
769 individual works painted between 1941 and 1943 in the south of France, while Salomon was in hiding from the Nazis. In October 1943 Salomon, 5 months pregnant at that time, was captured and deported to Auschwitz, where she was murdered by the Nazis soon after her arrival. Via Wikipedia

In 2015, a 35-page confession by Salomon to the fatal poisoning of her grandfather, kept secret for decades, was released by a Parisian publisher. (...) His constant request to share his bed with her and her own words in a confession letter suggest sexual abuse. Via Wikipedia

Prince - Mary Don't You Weep
“The system is broken. It’s going to take the young people to fix it this time. We need new ideas, new life…”. Prince
The messaging in this video links thematically to Prince’s past activist work in Baltimore in 2015 and the resulting riots that ensued in the city and beyond. That year, Prince released a protest song titled “Baltimore” – along with an accompanying documentary style video – directed squarely at the need for more compassion and peace, an ever-present theme he echoed through his career. The “Baltimore” video ends with the above quote, which Prince delivered during an impassioned speech at his 2015 Rally 4 Peace concert. This video begins with that same quote, a symbolic reminder underscoring Prince’s earlier messaging and a timely reflection on the need for positive change.
Directed by filmmaker, Salomon Ligthelm through Stink Films, and shot in New York City, the video pays tribute to the scores of teens and children affected by gun-related violence every year in the USA.

Shabbat Shirah, the Sabbath of Song!  Possibly not the favorite Shabbat of people with hearing issues.  So for this Shabbat Shirah, let’s bring the beauty of our liturgy to more people!  “Shehu noteh shamayim” is part of the Aleinu prayer.  Almost all congregations I’ve ever been at treat it as a second paragraph, though it isn’t; it’s the second half of the first paragraph.  The thing is that Salomon Sulzer wrote this fantastic melody for the first half of the paragraph, which almost everyone sings.  Then, either you read the rest silently, or you switch to this tune (an actual Hasidic melody, as far as I can tell) for the rest of that paragraph.
This tune is usually sung much faster and more smoothly, but in this video, the melody is secondary.  Most people know it.  The important thing is to see how this bit of prayer appears in Sign.  (I’m assuming that the Sign here is ASL, though if anyone can confirm or deny, I’d love to hear it.) Just because someone can’t hear the singing and chanting very well doesn’t mean they should be excluded from the kahal.  There is no reason to exclude anyone, and prayers in Sign are wonderful for that.
