I finished AI: The Somnium Files recently and the game was absolutely peak.

Because on the one hand, you have one of the most intriguing mystery plots I've ever seen in a game, some very heartfelt, emotional moments that genuinely made me feel something. And on the other, you get flashbacks to something that happend like a scene ago every ten seconds, get reminded of what a characters pun-name means every five seconds and you also have a main villian whose only hobby is murder and who genuinely sounds and acts like a creepypasta OC I would have made when I was twelve.

Great game. Would absolutely play again.

does anyone think about how devastating it is that date had to kill saito. i think hes probably really fucked up about it. like he learns that he used to be an assassin which stemmed from having such a strong sense of justice that he believed he had the right to take peoples lives from them, and through circumstance he had to resort to the same thing once again. he hasnt changed. hes no better than falco

i just think about it sometimes. also for some extra spice i think that hitomi is sometimes frustrated that she couldnt kill saito. she feels awful about it but this man took the lives of her two best friends in the world and sometimes she just wishes she could have gotten revenge on him

combine these together and you get hitomi venting about it and date revealing his own guilt and convincing her that she would have regretted it no matter what she had done, and probably moreso if she had blood on her hands

started playing ai the somnium files bc i really liked zero escape and how batshit it got by the third game and i am NOT disappointed “yeah hes missing an eye its replaced with an ai prosthetic and also he dives into peoples subconscious for crime solving. also theres A Killer who definitely has something to do with you. bc of the eye thing” excellent i love you
