Just found out that my new favorite Tatsuro Yamashita's song "The door into summer" was written in the main protagonist's voice from Robert A. heinlein's book with the same name which I already read years ago. That book was the only one from this author I've read. In fact, I practically got interested by it in the first place by reading the wikipedia's page on the book. The incident about the author's cat kept crying at the opened door in winter (and his wife's commented that he's looking for a door into summer) was so cute and somehow also have that mystical element about it.
The book has one of my favorite sci-fi trope. Time traveling! Not much of a complicated plot by time traveling's standard but I like it. Did not care for the romance though.
Anyway the song is very groovy and smooth. I like the bass line and there's this "Rikky-Tikki-Tavi" repeating in the hooks. I don't understand japanese and I didn't look up the lyric translation at first. So I thought that is just something that was made up to fill in the hook lines but it turns out it's the long version of the girl "Ricky" 's name in the book which is actually his wife's childhood nickname. Well, that's go to show Tatsuro Yamashita must've been Robert A. Heinlein's fan to write this song with easter eggs like this!
