do you have any thoughts on the idea that queer spaces reject masculine gender presentation once a trans man transitions? a lot of arguments for transandrophobia seem to center on the idea that trans men (or, in a broader league, queer men in general) get rejected by queer spaces by virtue of becoming more masculine. these arguments have always bothered me a lot because i find the idea that queer spaces somehow value gnc people above masculine men and feminine women ludicrous—except for a very, very small niche of gay people, there is no such thing as a serious need for more masculine men. it’s always stricken me as a need to be included even in events specific to gender nonconforming people, but i’m curious to know if there is an actual ostracization of masculinity in the queer community at large that i have simply not experienced

for context, i live in a big city in the global south with a bustling ballroom/gay nightlife scene, which is where most of my experience comes from. a lot of the gay people i have met in my life have been mostly masculine-presenting gay men, and from where i stood, it never seemed to me that any of these people were at a disadvantage in comparison to their gnc peers. the only time i have ever seen masculinity get mildly disregarded was during ballroom competitions, where the contestants are mostly transfemme, although i have seen a good number of men trans and cis alike compete (and win!) in masc categories as well

it’s never been something i personally experienced, and i don’t think i know anyone else who has either. maybe it was the specific experience of some individuals, but i really don’t think it can be broadly applied to the lgbt community as a whole. i wonder if there’s any actual exclusion going on or if it’s just a perceived judgement that isn’t actually there? i can believe that transphobic cis people would act weird around transitioned trans men, but i have a really hard time believing that they’re disproportionately weird around trans men and not trans women.

there used to be this sentiment that the gay community was misogynistic and macho, that femmes and faggy bottoms were disrespected and shunned by the masc-for-masc cis gays. that was never really true either, but it’s been more accurate to my real life experiences in queer spaces than the opposite.

Request: Can you write one when your on the phone to someone and you say 'I love you' to them and the joker hears and he starts doubting everything you had and starts screaming and punching the wall. I ask as I didn't read the contact name for I was busy reading a new book "hey there beautiful" I hear the voice through the phone "joooooosh, how you doing?" I ask, I haven't seen josh since high school "I'm good long time no see, huh" he says "yeah, I missed you" I tell him honestly, he was like the brother I never had, he was always there for me. "I heard about your parents, are you alright?" He asks, oh my parents right, the ones I killed, good thing I knew the police, I'm that good girl that lives down the street, hmph yeah right. "Yeah I'm okay it's been a couple months. I live with someone else now" I tell him not wanting to say who "oih where are you get back to work" I hear someone say in the background, "that's good, well I got to go, see you, bye" he says "bye, love you" I tell him and hang up. "Who was that?" I hear J say as he walks in freakishly slow "no one" I tell him, it's not like it matters, right? "How come you never tell me you love me?" He asks. "J why are we here?" I ask him getting sick of his stupid game. "For this" he states with an angry type voice as he brings out his gun and aims it right at Josh "don't you dare do that" I yell at him as I run in front of Josh "your not gonna stop me are ya, you've always wanted me to kill the bad guys hahah" he laughs again "Josh is not a bad guy" I say as I walk up to him and push the arm holding the gun down. I quickly bend his arm backwards making him drop the gun as I kick it towards Josh. He's such an idiot "pick up the stupid gun" I yell at him "oh" he quickly says as he bends down and points it at J. I run towards Josh taking the gun off him still having it pointed at Joker "come on J I don't want to do this" I say as I push Josh away making him run out of the alleyway and off somewhere away from J. "And you won't, he's gone now" he says sighing as he sits on the curb. I go to sit with him, not as comfort though. "Why are you doing this?" I ask him "because y/n, I'm jealous, your my girlfriend not his and you say I love you to him but not me, how does that work?" He yells at me "because you can't feel love and I can" I yell "if I say I love you your just going to hurt my heart, I know it" I say sadly now "this is why I never say I love you" I tell him honestly "y/n, I might not fell love the way you do, but I do love you, in my fucked up way, it might not be the love you want and it's definitely not the love you deserve, but I'm giving you all of my love" he says looking down at the pavement.
