#sometimes I need BTS to be more loud and not so fucking humble

Someone needs to humble Blackpink and their fans real quick because why are these people acting like Jay Park 0.2 ? Half of the Kpop industry has literally admitted to Bts paving the way (even legendary idols like SNSD and Wonder Girls), yet the gg who can't even sell out concerts without giving away free tickets and lying about it, is claiming to pave the way? The arrogance and ignorance is so serious with BP, like it's actually not only disrespectful but so tone deaf of the members themselves. Do these girls really, truly believe that they're the best and have paved the way? Like where do they even get the arrogance, this is what I'm confused about. If these girlies were hitting #1 all day on all bb and Spotify charts, then fine but their songs barely chart without heavy media play or looping. Like this is the biggest difference between bts and bp - even when BTS write songs about their achievements its actually about their achievements, awards, music and lyrics bp on the other hand only flaunt their looks and money and non existence 'charting'. Make it make sense. I'm trying hard to respect the members but it's really hard because the girls are so so tone deaf. Not to mention, how Blinks were dragging V's new solo but their own fav release this ddu and hylt recycled with childish ass lyrics and it's celebrated?

wait I think I agree not today is really bad but now rank all their title tracks from best to worst pls
lmaoohdksjjdjf i love this question so much anon but due to the fact that i’m me this would get way WAY too long. so i’m doing the top 5 best title tracks and then top 5 worst ones okay? i’m looking at google and apparently they have 26 korean singles so yeah that’s too much.
to rank them as objectively as possible I'm gonna try to take into account gp impact (which is not the same as chart impact since the fandom inflates those numbers), production, creative value (how innovative/different from other pop songs was it?) and the concept of the music video/aesthetic in general.
BTS TITLE TRACKS: TOP 5
5. Black Swan (2020)
am I cheating by putting here a pre release single? maybe. but it would be a disservice to leave this one out so bear with me
⭐gp impact: this song made more noise as a pre release single than the title track. I saw it in at least 3 end of the year editorials for best kpop songs of 2020. and the thing is it could have been WAY bigger but a lot of stuff happened that sadly made it go away too soon. I don't think this one is as famous or recognizable as the others in this list which is why it's going last, but also I think this song is the most underrated gem in bts discography so it's still going here.
⭐production: this song beat out the front runners (I need u, save me, DNA) solely because of its production. there are not a lot of kpop songs out there that manage to pull off what this song does. it's powerful, it's nostalgic, it's a dark and sexy song without being too on the nose. the mixing is SUPERB I remember the first time I heard it I thought "this would blow the fuck up if it was a Travis Scott song" and I will DIE on that hill. this is an example of heavy autotune on a song done right, not like the rest of their super autotuned songs that sometimes come out unrecognizable and empty sounding.
⭐creative value: it's not truly a new concept in pop to make a song about the Death of the Artist. it’s also not something a rookie group can do, this song needed to be released at exactly the time in bts’ career that it was. there’s just no emotional impact if you just sing about how the music makes your hear beat and you’ve been in the industry for,,, 3 years. this is the type of Swan Song you release at the peak of your career, so that really contributes to the message. mixing a trap beat with a ballet motif is GALAXY BRAIN SHIT.
⭐️concept: the ballet influence is just beautifully executed, this song is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship on all fronts. i think they could literally build an entire ALBUM off this concept, so the fact that they jampacked it onto one single song is both amazing and a little sad for me. i wanna hear more of this. i want a literal Black Swan (the darren aranofsky movie) horror concept where the protagonist falls prey to his own madness because he strives for perfection. but yeah, the song itself and the orchestral version just make this a complete golden concept in my book.
4. IDOL (2018).
⭐️gp impact: i think a lot of people that didn’t know anything about kpop vaguely knew about this song when it was released. i know i wasn’t into kpop at all but in my pop culture circle there was a small bleep from this song bc of the concept and the dance. i think it’s a great “embassador of kpop” track, like if you wanna explain to someone with no previous knowledge what kpop is about you can show them a performance of this song.
⭐️production: the production is a little all over the place for me. the instrumentals are amazing and really creative tho, but like in terms of mixing vocals and the structure of it, it might be a little too grating. it’s not the best produced song in ly: answer by any means but it still makes it work
⭐️creative value: the whole hanbok thing is a 10/10. bts weren’t the first ones to do it, but they did it in such a tightly executed way that honestly that “classic korean roots meets the edgy western feel” concept belongs to them now. groups are still recreating it. it’s a really innovative concept in general.
⭐️concept: the music video is,,,, something. you might love it or hate it, but it’s memorable. i think the purposeful way in which they made it as loud and brilliant as possible can be taken either as a camp adjacent or just as the group going nuts with the budget, which props to them. the choreography is also a BIG plus. the south african influence is really well executed and they made sure to do it as cultural appreciation and not appropriation. definitely the most memorable thing from this song is the choreo
3. Run (2015).
⭐️gp impact: this was their second song to have a music show win. it was the lead single from hyyh pt2 and honestly it might be the best song off hyyh as a whole. it cemented bts as not just another kpop group, because it made non fans turn their heads too! from what i gather this really propelled them forward and made the fanbase grow a lot.
⭐️production: hyyh pt2 is super well produced. i feel like this song in particular makes a fine job of mixing the vocals but it’s not outstanding. the best part is the instrumentals. but overall it’s a really good song with amazing lyrics and a great melody.
⭐️creative value: this built off of what they did with pt1 so they were already in a comfortable place, when they found this sound they really explored it well and deep and it works! i’m glad they went this emo pop route because it was a good contrast to what was dominating the charts in kpop in 2015.
⭐️concept: the aesthetic is PERFECT. there’s not a single other thing that i could add or that i wanted gone. it’s the perfect mix of coming of age teen film and heartfelt, dreamy pop. the music video is by no surprises the favorite mv of a lot of the fandom. the cinematography is beautiful and the song and the video perfectly capture that fleeting moment in life when you’re in the brink of adulthood.
2. Mic Drop (2017).
⭐️gp impact: this song was the first bts song to chart on the billboard hot100. back when the fandom had no idea how to chart, mass buy etc. that’s enough said. (personally i think mic drop is the quintessential bts song and their best release so the fact that i’m not putting it first should count as something).
⭐️production: for the purposes of this ranking i’m using the original mic drop and not the steve aoki remix even tho it was the steve remix that was released as the single. the song has the BEST mastering i’ve heard in kpop. the transitions are flawless, the beat is pure fire, the entire first minute is literally the hardest hype rap i’ve heard in kpop. everything about it WORKS.
⭐️creative value: it’s kinda funny how this song got released the same year as kendrick lamar’s humble, because imho it’s the best hiphop song of that year after humble. 2017 was truly the year of the diss tracks. bonus points for including it right after the billboard acceptance speech skit in ly: answer. SUPER refreshing among the ed sheeran type of pop that dominated that year.
⭐️concept: it’s a great concept but not innovative by any means. still, it works and bts managed to exploit it to the max. the choreo, the mv, the styling, everything was amazing!
1. Blood, Sweat & Tears (2016).
⭐️gp impact: it's probably the first song to put bts on the map beyond the kpop sphere. it really set the tone for their 2017. it's one of their most famous and recognizable songs to date.
⭐️production: this song is STUNNINGLY arranged. the mix, the ambience, the progression,,, it's all brought together to make a very well crafted song. it has a distinctive electronic/pop sound to it that still manages to set itself apart from the trend that was going at the time. black swan is probably the closet single they have to this in terms of production.
⭐️creative value: the song itself is very in compliance with the 2015/2016 trend of hype songs with edm influence, (ie. closer, shape of you, cheap thrills, let me love you, something just like this, etc.) but it still packs that punch that makes it sound fresh even for 2021.
⭐️concept: it wasn't the first song to sound like this in kpop ofc but it was the first truly sexy concept for bts. the aesthetic is innovative and very well thought out, the mv is amazing and the choreography too. i read somewhere that j-hope had a lot of input for this choreo so that's amazing. also blond taehyung is literally the best thing to come out of big hit.
WORST BTS TITLE TRACKS
ok so here we go with the worst ones! this is in ascending order as i prepare myself to pick the worst of them all, but please remember this isn’t meant to be mean spirited, i am simply applying the same criteria to their most underwhelming songs but that doesn’t mean they don’t have their own merit! it’s just that out of 26 singles, SOME of them have got to come out at the bottom right?
5. Life Goes On (2020)
⭐gp impact: this song is not memorable with the general public, its #1 on the bb was the product of mass buying and even though it's a feel good song made to comfort fans in the times of pandemic it's still bland and boring. I think it had no music show appearances either, and as far as bts ballads go this is just bottom tier. it’s not that it’s terrible, it’s just very underwhelming
⭐production: the autotune in this song is very poorly executed, it doesn't add to the song the way black swan does for example. it's just off putting and the melody is really forgettable. it's funny bc the chorus is directly pulled from the 2018 reggaeton super hit "La Canción" by J Balvin and Bad bunny lmaooo 💀 so I can't get that out of my head either. the structure is just fine and has nothing of substance
⭐creative value: the song is attempts to be a heartfelt acoustic song but it really has nothing that sets it apart from other songs product of the pandemic like Justin and ariana's stuck with u. for a song in a self produced album it's the song with the least input from the group. the lyrics are good, but they're not as sincere or groundbreaking as for example Spring day.
⭐concept: as a ballad ofc I'm not expecting it to have a grand choreography, and the mv being filmed in their personal dorms to reflect the lockdown is actually a nice touch but besides that there is nothing exciting, innovative or even sincerely comforting about the song and the concept. the greatest thing abt it is the fact that jk directed the video, which is actually pretty good.
4. We are bulletproof pt 2 (2013)
⭐gp impact: this song made no noise back in the day and to this day its just beloved by the fandom due to a sense of nostalgia and "remembering bts' roots". don't get me wrong it's amazing that bts still perform it in the year of our lord 2020 because you can't forget where you came from, but it's not a good or memorable song by any means.
⭐production: I went back to listen to it for this and oh god. I can't remember the mixing being THIS bad. jimin, jin and taehyung sound exceptionally bad, they don't sound like themselves especially jin. it's just a really poorly mastered song, but then again the rest of their debut album isn't far better.
⭐creative value: this is straight up ripping off early 2000s black culture from the US. not only the music, the styling for this era in general is unfortunately really bad and culturally appropriating and overall it's a mess.
⭐concept: there is nothing of substance to be said about this song. it's just really a miss. the mv is terrible, the only thing that can be salvaged from this is the choreography, but besides that the whole thing feels sloppy, rushed and is also kinda cringey.
3. N.O. (2013)
⭐gp impact: no noise. this song was just a really weird pick for their first comeback when attack on bangtan or coffee was right there. not to be mean but no wonder they didn't have a music win this year.
⭐production: it's an objectively bad song. it's just really underwhelming, the whole mixing feels amateur. it's not a good hiphop song and it's not a good vocal arrangement and the chorus is also a rip off of a late 90s American song I can't find right now
⭐creative value: this song isn't innovative in any way, it's just..... there. very meh in general, I have nothing more to say about it
⭐concept: the storyline kinda wants to go somewhere with the music video but it doesn't manage to make a connection. the styling is plain, simple and not flattering at all. it tries to make a protest of the Korean school system but it doesn't say anything beyond "school bad" which we already knew
2. Not Today (2017)
⭐gp impact: its a very middle of the list song for a lot of the fandom. I literally know of no one that claims this as their favorite mv/era/song. when you ask people about their least favorite bts songs they won't mention this one either, you know why? because it's that irrelevant. it had no music show wins either. it's precisely because of this why I put it so high up on the list. there's nothing worse than an unmemorable song, if it was widely hated then at least that would be a response.
⭐production: it's a really mediocre song in terms of structure and melody. it tried to be hype but it falls short. the chorus feels half finished and the message of the song is just “the revolution has begun”? which okay? but it adds nothing to the You never walk alone album either.
⭐creative value: there is nothing exciting about this song, and the chorus is too grating. the rhythm is repetitive and nothing new either in kpop or pop in general.
⭐concept: sadly there's not a lot to be said for the song. it says nothing of value and what it says falls flat. there's no innovation. you can actually see a lot of idol in this song, and also ON. those two songs are what this one tried to be but failed.
1. War of Hormone (2014)
⭐gp impact: thankfully none. this song got the treatment it deserved, if they had won a music show for this one it would feel tainted lol. now it's just a meme in the fandom but overall it made zero noise and contributed nothing to bts' evolution
⭐production: the production is very lazy, which is odd because dark & wild has some pretty tight tracks. but this one is just meh, nothing outstanding and the melody is just annoying
⭐creative value: this is a song that was probably born out of the desperation to have a gp friendly hit. it tries really hard to replicate an outdated idea of what boy bands should be, and it does it badly. simply put this song is very mediocre and misogynistic and the fact that it's a running gag in the fandom that "feminism isn't important when war of hormone comes on" isn't funny and it's actually cringe. please stop
⭐concept: the styling is so ugly :( the mv is very low budget which isn't surprising but they managed to make more with less in past releases. it's just embarrassing and I wish this song didn't exist, there's a reason why they never play it anymore lol. overall a dark mistake in bts' career

Where You Belong (Yoongi x Reader)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Min Yoongi (Suga) x Reader
Genre: Fluff, Angst
Word count: 5,5k
Summary: When fame changes Yoongi his bandmates decide to take action and send him back to Daegu. Yoongi has to deal with his bad relationship with his family and a certain girl from his past and his forgotten feelings for her.
A/N: Hi! Finally, my first BTS fanfic on this blog! I wrote this a looong time ago. I found this again and rewrote it. I hope you like it! I’m always happy about feedback! There might be a second part depending on the resonance!
“Yoongi… what is this?”, Taehyung asked and put the newspaper in front of Yoongi, who was sitting in his studio, working on some music.
“A newspaper?”, Yoongi said and continued looking at his computer.
Namjoon walked into the room and sighs. “Oh, I was just coming here about that too. What’s that, Yoongi?”, Namjoon asked, referring to the newspaper article that was printed boldly on the cover.
BTS’ Suga leaving club drunk with a girl!
“So what?”, Yoongi asked, bored. “Am I not allowed to party?”
Yoongi didn’t understand why they made such a fuss. It’s just a little party and some girl. Nothing more, nothing less.
The other members now entered the room and looked at him, quite disappointed. “That’s not the only problem, Yoongi. There are thousands of other articles on the internet. They talk about how rude you are to fans you randomly see. You don’t even acknowledge them!”, Namjoon said in a serious tone.
“You are drunk every weekend, you don’t even work on music. You just sit around all day, wondering what shit you should do next.”, Jin added.
“They were crowding me and it was really annoying.”, Yoongi said, not understanding why they all stood there as if this was some kind of intervention.
Jimin sighed and started talking. “When was the last time you said, “thank you”? When was the last time you visited your family? I have a feeling that you forgot where you came from and how you came here. Don’t forget that without ARMY, you wouldn’t be here either.”, Jimin said, worried.
“Yes, hyung. The fans are worried sick and so are we.”, Jungkook told him.
Yoongi stood up, really annoyed. “What the fuck is this? Why are you acting like I’m a fucking drug addict?”
Yoongi always had a problem with his temper. And right now they were really testing him. What was the point of all this? He looked at his 6 bandmates and just saw expressions of disappointment, worry, and anger. This was no joke.
“We decided that it’s best if you get out of Seoul for a while.”, Taehyung said and put his hand on his shoulder.
Yoongi swatted his hand away. “Where the fuck should I go then?”
Namjoon smiled at him. He gave him an envelope with airplane tickets. “Have a nice trip to Daegu. Your family awaits you.”
“What the fuck?! I am definitely not going to Daegu! You can’t force me on that plane!”, he shouted and threw the envelope on the ground.
“If you don’t go… then you won’t be able to use your studio AND we changed the code to our house. Good luck trying to come in.”, Jimin smirked, trying to provoke Yoongi.
Taehyung gave Yoongi a sad smile. “I would love to go back to Daegu you know… but I can’t. We are doing this for you. Don’t forget where you belong, Yoongs.”
“You really planned this whole thing right? Let me guess. Our favorite manager knows about this.”, Yoongi rolled his eyes as the others nodded. “Well fine. I don’t care. I’ll see this as a vacation.”
“But you’ll be staying at your parents’ place. Not a luxury hotel. You also have to spend time with them.”, Jin added.
Yoongi’s eyes widened. “Are we filming some shitty Bon Voyage episode or what?”, he sighed. “Fucking shit. I don’t care. Fine. Leave me alone now.”
The others left the room, still sad about Yoongi’s reaction. When did it become like this? They did not really know. Yoongi was so humble and grateful. Sometimes fame really gets ahold of you.
The very next day Yoongi found himself on the airplane. They at least bought him a first-class ticket. How nice of them. Yoongi leaned his head against the plane window. And then first thoughts started creeping in his head.
It’s been nearly two years since he last visited his family. His mom was going to be very angry. And his father? He never really talked about Yoongi’s career. Their relationship was never the best.
He never wanted Yoongi to become an idol. He had a hard time accepting his career change but he had to accept it in the end. But there still was a certain coldness between them. His brother wasn’t in Daegu since he was living abroad for a while. So how was he going to handle the whole family situation? And how the hell should sending him to Daegu help him? It’s not like breathing some Daegu air will bring the old Yoongi back.
Yoongi closed his eyes, trying to get a little sleep. For the first time in a very long time, he didn’t have a busy schedule. Maybe that’s one positive thing about this trip.
Why the hell him though? It’s not like the others don’t drink or party. Okay, maybe Yoongi liked to go to parties a little bit more than the others. But was it that bad?
Before he could keep thinking more, he fell in a deep slumber. A few hours later the flight attendant woke him up.
As he arrived at the airport, he saw no one waiting for him. He was a little bit disappointed. He kind of expected that his mother would come and pick him up. But he wouldn’t do it either if he was his son.
He stood there with his suitcase, wondering where to go. Then his phone vibrated and Yoongi gets a text from Namjoon.
Joon: First mission, find a cab. No one will treat you special there. 😌
Yoongi rolled his eyes and walked outside. Using his scarf to cover his face, he found a taxi and told the driver the address. As time passes by, Yoongi noticed that he was constantly watching out of the window, looking for signs of his neighborhood. He smiled slightly, recognizing a few places from his city.
And suddenly a feeling of homesickness appeared. And he was not talking about Seoul but Daegu. That’s where it all started.
That doesn’t make the situation better but he wasn’t expecting to stay long here. He might as well use the time to rest.
And then there he stood. In front of his house. The house he grew up in. Memories, beautiful memories start appearing in front of his eyes. Yoongi remembered that his mother would hide the spare keys to his house in the flower vase next to the door. The keys were still hidden there, even after all these years. Taking the keys and unlocking the door, he walked inside, expecting no one to be home since his parents should be at their restaurant.
As he walked inside, he noticed new furniture, pictures of his family but not many pictures of him. Just a few from his childhood and one after he won his first award with BTS. The smell was still the same. It was like he never left.
He didn’t move. He just took everything in. Overwhelmed. That described the feeling Yoongi was experiencing the best.
Suddenly he heard a scream and felt something wooden hit his back. “OUCH!”, he shouted in pain.
“LEAVE THIS HOME OR I’LL CALL THE COPS!”, a female voice behind Yoongi said and kept hitting him with a broom.
“I LIVE HERE!”, Yoongi said and tried to turn around. Then he grabbed ahold of the wooden stick. “Who the hell are you?!”, he asked in a very loud and angry tone.
You tried to pry away the broom from his hands. Then you took a look at him. Just to find Min Yoongi, standing right in front of you. “Y-Yoongi?”, you asked cautiously. Was this a dream?
“Yes, Yoongi! What the hell are you doing in my house!”, he said, breathing heavily.
Speechless. That’s what you were at that moment. You didn’t know what to say. Why was he here? He never visited home! But then you remembered his parents mentioning that he would come back. You didn’t know that it was today though!
Yoongi took a good look at you. His eyes widened as he recognized your facial features. “No way… Y/N?”, he asked. You changed. You did look good back then but now you were even prettier than before. “The last time I visited… you weren’t here.”
You gulped. “I did study at another university for a year… but now I’m back. I didn’t see you since… like 2014?”
You and Yoongi were friends back then. When you were little kids, you would always play together. He would always protect you from everyone and he was always by your side. Whenever you needed him, he was there. Your families were close and so were the two of you. Your friendship stayed like that until you graduated.
You decided to study fashion design and Yoongi, who was already active in the underground rapping scene, became an idol. You know the rest of the story.
You sat down on the couch and so did Yoongi. “I live here ever since my family moved and your mother let me stay here. I help her out with some of the chores.”, you said and he nodded.
“Oh, that’s nice of her…”, Yoongi says. “So, your parents just left you here?”, Yoongi asked you.
You nodded. “They did want to take me with them but I wanted to stay in Daegu. Seoul wasn’t really for me…”, you explained to him.
“I get it. Seoul is huge.” Sometimes you could get lost in Seoul. Lost like Yoongi was now.
Yoongi didn’t know what to think. His childhood friend and neighbor lived with his family now. Not only that. He felt so distant towards her. They were so close once. He remembered helping her through her first break-up and then wanting to beat that guy up. But you did not want him to that. You were a person he was ready to throw fists for and now it seemed like you were strangers. Maybe you changed, maybe he did.
“Yoongi… I know you’re supposed to spend time with your family. I heard some things about you in the past. So please don’t fuck this up, okay?”, you said in a serious tone.
He rolls his eyes. “So what? I was literally forced to come here. My family doesn’t really talk to me if you noticed. I will do what they expect me to do. I’ll be a disappointment or something.”, he asked.
“Do you hear yourself right now? What do you plan on doing? Visit all of Daegu’s nightclubs so you can cross them off your list? Looks like all the articles about you are true.”, you said in a disappointed voice. You really didn’t know what you expected after hearing that Yoongi would come back.
“You don’t even know me. So, shut up. We haven’t seen each other for years. Who do you think you are? You can’t judge me.”, he said angrily.
“I am a person who thinks rationally and you are an idiot that used to be my friend.”, you said, disappointed to see him like that. “You know what? Your room is free. Feel free to unpack your stuff. I’ll be outside.”, you said and grabbed your jacket.
“It’s like 10 p.m. Where are you going at this hour?”, he asked with a slight tone of worry in his voice. It was late at night.
But you ignored him and went outside. You were in a similar situation as Yoongi when he was younger. Your parents didn’t want you to study fashion design. They didn’t support you. You thought that Yoongi would understand you the best. But he was in his own little world. To you, he was kind of delusional, thinking that everything revolves around him. He really wasn’t the boy you used to know and maybe he was never going to change.
Yoongi entered his room and looked around. Everything was still the same the way he left it last time. He walked over to his bed and threw himself on it. Nothing has changed. The only thing that did change was Yoongi himself.
You walked outside. It’s winter and there was already snow on the ground. You pulled your jacket closer to your body and walked over to the playground you and Yoongi used to play on all the time.
You sat on one of the benches and suddenly see little Y/N and Yoongi playing and running around in front of you. You smiled. A sad smile. It was a memory that you would always appreciate. A memory that you could never forget. The playground was only a few meters away from the house.
Suddenly you heard a door being closed. You saw Yoongi standing in front of the house, looking down on his phone.
Was he here to search for you?
Then a taxi pulled up and he got in it. You frowned and looked down. Who knew what he was up to. Probably visiting another club. He really had changed.
Tumblr media
The next morning you heard Yoongi and his parents arguing. It was about him going to a club yesterday. He didn’t say hello to his parents but went partying instead. He didn’t even wait for them to come back from work.
You sighed and pulled the blanket over your head. You didn’t want to hear them arguing. You already heard a lot about that when you argued with your parents when they were here.
But you still got out of bed and put on some decent clothes. You took a look at your sketches. Your eyes widen as you see the sketch you made of Yoongi. It was from an award show and he looked really nice. You couldn’t stop yourself and drew him. You usually didn’t draw people. You drew clothes and designed different things. A part of you couldn’t just leave Yoongi in the past. You didn’t know why.
You quickly took the sketch and hid it in your closet. Then you walked out of your room. You still heard them arguing.
“This isn’t my Yoongi! What happened to you?”, Yoongi’s mother said with tears in her eyes.
“I don’t know what your problem is. You know what? I’ll go for a walk!”, he shouted and takes his coat. Then he saw you staring and stopped for a second. “What? Are you going to scold me too?”
You shook your head and also took your coat. “I’ll leave too.”, you said.
Yoongi’s mother took a deep breath. She tried not to show her sadness. “But you didn’t eat anything! Eat something for breakfast, dear.”
“I’m fine.”, you said and smiled at her. You saw Yoongi already walking outside and closing the door after him.
You went after him, only to find him walking to the playground. You followed him and sat down next to him on the bench you sat on last night. The snow was everywhere. Even on the benches. But you didn’t care honestly.
“You know… you don’t have to fight with your mother. She cares about you, you know?”, you said quietly.
“Would you shut up?”, he said and leaned back, closing his eyes.
You sat there in silence. Then you decided to speak up. “Do you remember playing here when we were kids?”
No answer.
“You would always lose all the games.”, you said and smirked, knowing that that would get a reaction out of him.
His eyes opened and he sat straight. “Never! I always won!”, he said. “… not that I care.”
You laughed a little. You also caught him staring at you.
Yoongi always loved your laugh back then. He would do anything just to get a little smile out of you when he was younger. He didn’t hear it for a long time. “You do care.”, you answered him. “Don’t push us away okay?”
You stood up. “I have to leave now. Please don’t worry your mother too much.”
Tumblr media
Yoongi thought a lot about his situation. Maybe he did make a few mistakes in the past. He could always party in Seoul. Maybe this really was a second chance. To make everything better with his family. And with you.
In the next few weeks, Yoongi made an effort to fix his relationships a bit. He helped to make breakfast, he even sometimes helped out in his parents’ restaurant. His father was surprised but appreciated it. Their relationship was still a rather cold one. But it was getting better.
He also visited you every night in your room. You watched movies or just talked. The first night he did that, surprised you a lot.
Tumblr media
You were still awake, working on your next assignment that was due tomorrow. It was 2 a.m. and you were tired. You heard a soft knock on your door.
“Yes?”
Yoongi walked in and smiled a little bit. “I can’t sleep.”, he whispered. “And I saw that your lights were still on…”
You looked at him, surprised. “Uh… come in?”, you said, not understanding what was going on.
He came in and sat on your bed. He looked deep in thought as he sat there. He was fidgeting with his hands, looking like he wants to say something but didn’t know how.
“What are you doing?”, he asked you, trying to start a conversation.
“I am doing my assignment for college… why are you here Yoongi?”
“I… I’m sorry. For how I treated you the last week. I feel horrible. I really wasn’t like this. And I want to make things better. I want my best friend back.”, he finally said and looked at you with an apologetic look. You did treat him like shit, to be honest. You wanted him to feel how you felt when he just ignored you but you still could not ignore him completely.
You pressed your lips together. “Do you mean it?”
He nodded. “Yes. I had a lot of time for myself. I asked myself why my bandmembers would send me all the way here. What was my mistake? I took it for granted. My fame, my fans… my family and you.”, he said. “I want to change. No. I want to remember why I’m here.”
You gave him a bright smile. “Apology accepted. Really.”
“You don’t know how relieved I am right now.”, he said. “Can I help you with your assignment?”, he asked.
You shook your head no. “I don’t think that you know about fashion history. But you can give me a sweater from my closet. I’m freezing.”
He nodded and opened your closet. A piece of paper fell on the ground. It’s a sketch of him. His eyes widened. He didn’t say anything though. He knew that you were an amazing artist. But why would you draw him?
“Hey, what are you going?”, you asked him, wondering what he was doing.
Before he could hide the sketch of you, you quickly got up and take it away. “You… you weren’t supposed to see this.”, the tint of pink on your face wasn’t making the situation better.
“You draw really well though…”, he said and smiled. After that, he handed you your sweater and sat down.
You smiled at him. “Thank you.”
Yoongi didn’t want to make you feel more uncomfortable, so he did not ask any questions regarding the sketch. But maybe one day he would. Today was not that day.
After that night everything seemed different between the two of you. You felt some sort of connection to him. He definitely wasn’t asking you about clubs anymore and rather talked to you about your family. He told you that he would support your choice, unlike your family. He knew that you had talent and that you made the right choice.
And that lead to the day where Yoongi finally talked to his father and that talk cleared up a lot of things. Yoongi felt closer to his father after that.
The situation is tense and Yoongi didn’t know how to start this conversation. You put your hand on his shoulder and smiled at him reassuringly. “You can do it.”, you whispered.
He put his hand on top of yours and squeezed it. “Thanks.”, he whispered back.
He took a deep breath and sat down in front of his father. The feeling in the room was tense. None of them started talking. You looked at Yoongi with determination.
“You can do it.”, you whispered. You knew he was scared. His hands were shaking a little. Until now, Yoongi and his father didn’t really talk. His mom was more forgiving but his dad… It was complicated. It shouldn’t be like this.
Yoongi always wanted that his family was proud of him. He realized that he was not someone his parents could be proud of. Especially in the last few years. His dad was not making any amends to talk. Yoongi knew that he had to be the person to start talking first.
“Dad.”, Yoongi finally said. “Let’s talk please…”, he said, quietly.
His father did not talk. He didn’t even look at him.
“Please, dad.”, Yoongi pleaded. “I know I haven’t been the best son. In fact, I have been the worst son you could ever ask for. But here I am now. I am trying to change. Give me a chance.”
He sighed. “Can you really change?”, he finally said. “I don’t know. I honestly didn’t recognize my own son. That attitude you had when you first arrived was not something I was used to. I couldn’t just act like everything was back to normal.”
“Do you hate me? Don’t you like it? That I’m pursuing my dream?”, he asked honestly, his hands shaking.
His father shook his head. “Definitely no. I don’t hate you. For me, it wasn’t possible that you might be successful. I accepted that fact a long time ago. That you are someone who is loved by his millions of fans. I thought that you might not like me since I didn’t show you support.”, he admitted with a shaky voice.
“Dad, I could never hate you. I just didn’t know how to talk to you about this… but I feel good, now that I know the truth.”
“Please know that I am proud of you and everything you achieved. You proved me wrong and I want the best for you. But son, I don’t want to read articles about you taking girls from clubs home or whatever. Please stay true to yourself. Don’t do the wrong things.”, Yoongi’s father told him.
Yoongi nodded. “I am changing. I am trying to be a better person.”
“I know.”, Yoongi’s dad said and smiled at him. “I see a change. I will try to be a better father to you too.”
“You already are, dad.”, Yoongi said with tears brimming in his eyes.
They hugged it out and for the first time since Yoongi arrived in Daegu, he felt like everything was going to be okay.
Yoongi’s mother broke out in tears and joined the hug. And they pulled you in their circle as well. There was a feeling of relief and calmness. Finally.
Tumblr media
A few weeks passed and you decided to go to the only place in Daegu, where Yoongi was really inspired. Where he wrote all of his old songs. It was his last day in Daegu and he felt weird. There was a certain tension between you. You were a bit sad that he had to go but he was an idol and he had priorities. It still felt strange knowing that he had to leave so soon.
It’s a park that was rather small. Both of you walked around a bit and arrived at a hill. In the park, there was a huge hill you spent a lot of time on as teenagers. Maybe he would be inspired to write a song. Yoongi shoved some of the snow away from a bench and you sat down.
There was a safe distance between the two of you as you sat on the rather small bench. You were aching to feel his touch. To hold his hand. And even to feel his soft lips against your skin. You didn’t even know where these thoughts came from. Maybe, just maybe, you had a crush on him. Again. Back then, there was a time period where you were sure that you liked Min Yoongi. Of course, you had boyfriends before but you still felt drawn to your friend.
It wasn’t the first time you thought about that. Old feelings ignited again inside of you. You thought about him all the time. It felt weird knowing that you might have feelings for him again. But that warm fuzzy feeling was good. You felt comfortable around him. Unlike the day he arrived.
You didn’t know what to do or how to feel around him. It got a bit awkward sometimes but in a good way. It was like he never went to Seoul. You felt like you had your best friend back. But you knew you couldn’t expose your feelings to him. You knew that he had to go back to Seoul. He was an idol and you were just a normal person. He probably didn’t even like you back. You felt kind of sad thinking about this touchy subject. But you were realistic. It would never work out.
Yoongi sighed. “I haven’t been here for ages. Time flies, huh?”, he said. His eyes were closed and leaned against the bench.
You knew you were staring but you didn’t care. His eyes were closed you didn’t miss the chance to stare. To your defense, look at him, he was handsome and an amazing person. Everyone would stare!
“You’re staring.”, Yoongi said, his eyes still closed. He could feel your eyes on him.
“N-no, I’m not!”, you told him, your face reddening.
His eyes opened and he looked straight at you. “Are you sure? Your face is flushed. Is that because I caught you staring?”, Yoongi smirked.
“Shut up, okay?”, you said. You took out your sketching book. “Now stay there, I’ll draw you.”
Yoongi looked at you. You looked beautiful in this moonlight. The moonlight illuminated your features. While concentrating on drawing him, he also started staring. He thought that you looked cute while concentrating. You bit your lip while drawing and suddenly Yoongi couldn’t look away.
“Can you-?”, before you could finish your sentence, you noticed that he was staring. At your lips. “Uh, Yoongi?”
“Huh?”, he came back to his senses. “Oh sorry, I guess I zoned out.”, he said sheepishly and scratched his head.
“Yeah…sure.”, you said and gave him a sweet smile. “Here, have a look at the rough sketch.”, you showed him your sketch. “I will draw this for you and you can hang it in your studio in Seoul. As a reminder that you have a friend in Daegu waiting for you.”
Yoongi suddenly felt hot. Friend. A realization hit him and he knew that he didn’t want to just be friends with you. Another realization was that he had to leave soon. It has been three weeks already. He didn’t know how time passed so quickly.
“I… I don’t want to leave you though.”, he gathered the courage to tell you this. “Why don’t you come with me? To Seoul?”
You smiled at him and took his hand. “Thank you for the offer, but no. I like Daegu.”
Yoongi’s heart started beating at a speed that he didn’t know hearts could do. He liked your touch. “But… I could arrange something for you. Really, why don’t you give it a try?”, he didn’t know why he was trying to convince you so desperately.
No. He knew exactly why he was trying to convince you.
“Yoongi… Really. I’m fine here.”, you looked at him with a confused expression. “Are you okay? You seem a bit… I don’t know… sad?”
He couldn’t lie to himself anymore. He knew that he liked you. “Y/N. Look at me.”
You did. Your gaze was full of warmness, admiration and… something else. He couldn’t figure out what though. “What’s wrong?”, you whispered.
Then you noticed that it started snowing. It wasn’t heavy snow but it became windy very quickly. Yoongi moved closer to you after noticing that you started shivering a little. “I don’t know what I’m doing honestly…”
Your heart started beating out of your chest. You were close to Yoongi but never this close. He was confusing you. “Yoongi…”, you whispered.
He put a hand on your cheek and caressed it. “Y/N… I don’t think that I can stay away anymore.”, he told you and pressed his forehead on yours.
“Then don’t stay away.”, you closed your eyes, waiting for him to make a move.
Yoongi was never in such a situation before becoming an idol. He knew he shouldn’t be doing this. For once he forgot about being Suga of BTS. He was Min Yoongi, a guy from Daegu who just wanted to kiss the girl in front of him. You weren’t a girl from a club. You were Y/N, a girl he never forgot about. A girl he cared about, a lot.
He leaned forward and kissed you. You knew that he was about to kiss you but it still took you by surprise. Your body temperature was even hotter than before and suddenly you didn’t feel any of the cold wind blowing around you. Yoongi grabbed your face with both of his hands and pulled you even closer to him.
The kiss was better than everything you have imagined. You always thought that books and movies exaggerated the first kiss with someone you liked. If kissing someone felt like this, then you were sure that the “fireworks” described in those books were real. The soft feeling of his lips left you quickly.
Quicker than you thought.
“I’m sorry…”, Yoongi was caught in the moment. Reality caught up with him. What was he doing? But then he looked in your eyes.
He didn’t recognize the third thing in your eyes. But now he knows. It’s love. “Don’t apologize.”, you said. But before Yoongi could say anything else, you grabbed his shirt and pulled him back to you and kissed him again.
Yoongi immediately responded to the kiss. Maybe just for tonight, he could enjoy this. Just the two of you and your lips against his.
Tumblr media
You walked home together, Yoongi’s hand in yours. “I could get used to this…”, you said and smiled at him.
Yoongi knew that you shouldn’t get used to his and you knew that as well. Then you let go of this hand. “I know that we can’t be together… But I’m still grateful for the time we got to spend together. I am also happy that I could express my feelings towards you.”, you said with a sad smile.
Yoongi sighed. “I wish it wasn’t like this. There is no one else that I would rather be with.”, he said and sat down at the doorstep of his house.
“Yoongi, please don’t beat yourself up about this. We go our own ways. Maybe one day, we’ll find back to each other.”, you assured him and sat down next to him. “Pinky promise that we will find each other, no matter where we are?”, you held your pinky finger towards him.
He hooked his pinky finger around yours. “Promise. I want you to be the next big fashion designer, alright? And if we are still single after that… we can see what the future holds for us.”
You nodded, tears falling on your face. It was the best for the two of you. You knew that now was not the time to be together. But you were sure that the time would come. “Yes. I like the sound of that.”
Yoongi stood up and held his hand in your direction to help you up. “We still have this night. Let’s make the best out of it.”, he smiled at you and you went inside.
You spent your last night cuddling and talking. Time flew and you didn’t sleep at all. For the first and last time, you spent the whole night like a couple. You acted like last night didn’t happen. You had to. The feeling of losing him was there and it was scary. But this time you had closure. Yoongi knew about your feelings and you knew his feelings.
Your timing was off this time but the right time would come where you could be with him. His departure was painful and you were sure that you hugged him for at least an hour. You even kissed him when no one was looking. But after he left, it felt like a part of you left with him.
He was gone and so was old Yoongi. After arriving in Seoul, he was inspired to produce and write music. The club visits became less and less frequent until he never really felt like partying. There were no scandals and suddenly everything around him was very calm. He knew now that there were people behind him. People who supported him no matter what. His bandmates, his fans, his family and most importantly: you.
He would feel your connection even though you were all the way back in Daegu. The right time would come. But when?
Only time will tell.

[00:08AM]―KOYEL: [it`s going to be long rant, please read ONLY if you want. i`m no one to force you to do anything that doesn`t bother you. thank you <3]
BUBS! did you hear about the break bts is taking? ohmygod i was so effing happy with that news like... imagine our september babies (joon & gguk) celebrating their bdays with their families after being overseas for such a long period of time and pets, all of seven of them going on vacation, watching their bookmarked movies, listening to good songs, writing their own if they feel like it (of course they will, who are we kidding anyway), living the normal lives as people in their 20s.
my heart is just filled with so much warmth, it`s like i`ve always wanted it for them because i know, we all know that they don`t show that side of them much often upfront but they must be really REALLY tired from the constant album works, performance, dance practice, countless media attendance, and not to forget TWO WORLD tours. they should take this break as long as they want. the people who love them genuinely will remain for them no matter what because i believe their songs made the connection to us and as their voices remain in our phones, desktop, laptop, etc., we`ll remain too.
anyway, i`ve some few updates here and there because i think it`s really the time when i should plan whatever i want to do seriously with my life plus my blog―
first and foremost, sorry for the lack of posts for the past few days. i know i`ve been doing this thing often, promising you all that i`m going to make a comeback but still lacking when i actually have one. though i`ve my valid excuses too.
my college has started from last week and overall it was okay but i understood that if i don`t make any effort from my side, my head won`t work along with whatever i`m going to learn further. so i`ve been getting into studies lately, trying to revive my drawing skills, doing random doodles, logo design, anything related to graphics. i`m very bad at human features, so i`ve been working on that and i discovered that if i give enough effort, i can actually do it. i feel like i`m doing better for now. so yes, i have been studying a lot lately and that makes me fatigue real quick because brainstorming ideas take up a lot of my energy. not just that i`ve been trying to come up with ideas for my blog too, like writing down words or sentences whenever something hits my mind. creativity and inspiration strike without telling anyone, right?
second of all, i know i`ve classes tomorrow but i`m going to post a special thing, because uhm, let me introduce to you with this man right here:
Tumblr media
honestly, no, i`m not going to thirst over him or like get overwhelmed by his looks but i just don`t know if i can explain this well - i`ve never seen gguk as a person to whom i can be attracted as opposite sex. it`s like yeah! he`s so pretty and handsome at the same time and i`m so happy with his growth, but it`s just his mind, his way of living his life like such a normal person at their pre-twenties age, i just genuinely want to be his best friend. like i really REALLY want to spend my days having him as my best friend. we would be such emotional goofballs because we love watching sad movies, listening to sad songs. we`d be such a good duo. so….yes, i`ve decided to write a best friend!jeongguk characteristic imagine, like what would it feel like to have him as your best friend.
he`s like more or less 3 years older than me so i relate to him more than anyone. like, i`m a hardcore ot7 even though taehyung is my bias and yoongi is my second bias from bts but it`s just….no one else gives that familiar vibe rather than jeongguk himself. i just love him…a whole lot than anyone and this love is so pure and indifferent, i wonder if people who said that boys and girls can`t be best friends were telling the truth or not because hello? this girl here, this 19 years old girl here, name koyel, actually believes that you CAN be best friends with a guy without having any attraction and like watch him grow up to such a humble person.
so yes, i know i`m RANTING A LOT, but i really needed to let things out. also i`ve not interacted with you all in ages, like I MISS YOU. even you who is still reading this long ass post, thank you? like i`m stupid sometimes, so please don`t mind me. T T but it`s alright, it`s absolutely fine to be a mess. btw, it has been raining a lot these days and what angers me is not the rain but the fact that it ONLY rains during my college days and not on the weekends when i`m at home just studying my days away. i got drenched each and every day last week even though i had an umbrella because we had heavy winds too. i hope it doesn`t rain that much tomorrow.
(at this rate only yato can hear my wishes loud and clear, i promise i`ll give you 5 yen as soon as i get a job TT btw noragami`s last update fucked me up….i`m not ready for the next update)

Supernatural: BTS style

(Author’s note at the end)
Chapter 1: Childsplay
Douglas, Wyoming
When he woke up, he didn’t really know why. Jamie guessed it was the loud storm outside. He got goosebumps. His little brother Codie was still laying in his bed at the opposite end of the room, near their bedroom window.
Jamie wondered how the younger was still able to sleep, it was scary and some twigs from the tree in their yard hit against the window. It made an eerie sound and produced monstrous moving shadows on the bedroom walls.
Jamie wanted to mimic his six year old brother and go back to sleep when he heard it. At first it was so quiet that the ten year old thought it was just the wind. But then it happened again, a knocking sound at the window. Even though the boy told himself that it was just the tree hitting the glass, he was too afraid to look outside or even near the window.
The sound that followed wasn’t the storm, it definitely wasn’t. After all, storms couldn’t open windows. He felt cold all over when he heard the creaking noise of the window. But it wasn’t the kind of cold he felt when he was playing outside in the snow with his friends, it was a cold that went deep into his bones and stole away his happiness, Jamie had never felt something so awful before.
Then he saw it. In the corner of his eye, somebody, no something, climbed through the window. He was still like a statue, he couldn’t move. Oh god why couldn’t he move? He tried to open his mouth and scream but nothing came out, not even a tiny whimper.
That thing, whatever it was, wore a black cloak and it’s fingers were long and disgusting. Jamie couldn’t see much more and he was glad about it.
The monster slowly made its way towards his brother’s bed and leaned over him. No, not his brother, his baby brother. Jamie tried to move, silent tears running down his temples and landing in his ears, it felt disgusting and he wanted to wipe them away, but simply couldn’t.
Suddenly there was a weird light coming from the creature's cloak covered face so that Jamie could see what it looked like.
One look and he immediately peed himself. He hadn’t done that since he was five and it was humiliating, but he couldn’t help it, he was so scared. The creature had black eyes and it’s mouth was wide open, emitting the weirdly beautiful light. It looked like a grotesque and disfigured old person.
Then it stopped. The light went out and the thing climbed through the window and back into the storm. Jamie was still too scared to move and at one point he fell back asleep.
-
“Hyung, why are we here again?” Taehyung asked. He was bored out of his mind after driving almost three hours straight from nowhere into the next nowhere called ‘Douglas’, or at least that’s what the sign they just passed said.
Seokjin sighed and gave the eighteen year old man-child in the backseat an annoyed look. Why couldn’t he just behave nicely like Jungkook? The sixteen year old had been looking out the window for the past twenty minutes without saying a thing. For others that might be a little alarming, but it was Jungkook they were talking about and honestly the kid was just a little weird sometimes, not Taehyung-weird, but weird nonetheless.
“I already gave you the newspapers, it says everything in there. In the last twenty days nine children have mysteriously fallen into a coma overnight and are now slowly dying in the hospital. At first they thought it was a virus or maybe a gas leak, but they found nothing.
Besides, all the kids are pretty young and some of them have older siblings whom they share a room with. But it only affected the younger ones for some reason. Sounds like a case to me. Namjoon agreed that we should at least look into it, take no risks you know? I don’t want a bunch of children to die because we didn’t do our job right.” Seokjin explained.
Taehyung sighed in defeat and leaned back into his seat. He hated long car drives, they made him antsy and bored. He decided to have some fun with his favourite maknae, the boy hadn’t said anything since forever and it made him feel ignored.
As Taehyung put his left hand on the younger boy’s thigh, he got no reaction from Jungkook, since he was probably deep in thought. Taehyung felt even more ignored and wanted revenge. So he quickly grabbed the poor maknae where the sun didn’t shine and squeezed, hard.
Jungkook immediately let out a startled scream of pain and doubled over. When Seokjin looked into the mirror, the sight that greeted him was quite comical: Taehyung was sporting a shit eating grin on his face, next to him poor Jungkook, black hair building a weird contrast to his tomato red face and huge eyes and the youngest looked down with a mixture of embarrassment, shock and pain.
Before Seokjin could scold Taehyung, Yoongi, who had been sleeping on the passenger’s seat and was woken up by Jungkook’s scream, said groggily: “Kim fucking Taehyung I swear to god if you don’t leave Kook alone and shut the hell up I’ll kick your ass so hard you’ll shit kidney for the rest of your life.”
Taehyung lost his smug grin instantly and sat a little straighter in his seat, staring ahead wide eyed. Jungkook whined once quietly but didn’t say anything and went back to staring out of the car window silently.
After a few more minutes of driving, they reached the local motel. They parked their black Chevrolet Impala '67, a blue Chevrolet Camaro '69 with white stripes took the spot next to them.
Seokjin, Yoongi, Taehyung and Jungkook got out of the car and stretched their legs hurriedly. Taehyung went over to the Camaro and knocked on the window: “After hours in that fart box I nearly forgot what real air smelled like, refreshing, very refreshing indeed. You guys should get out too!”
The Camaro’s doors opened and Namjoon, Hoseok and Jimin got out, all breathing in the fresh air. Toghether the seven boys took out small duffle bags from the back seats and trunks of the cars and made their way to the front desk of the motel.
The receptionist, a young lady, looked up and blushed a little as she saw all the handsome boys looking at her. “How can I help you?” she asked politely. “A room for three and one for four, please” Namjoon answered with a deep voice. After getting the keys they went to their rooms.
Seokjin, Namjoon and Taehyung put their duffle bags on one bed each and went to the room next door, occupied by Yoongi, Hoseok, Jimin and Jungkook.
Six of the boys sat down on the beds, while Namjoon kept standing. The briefing could begin.
“Okay, so in the last twenty days nine children went to sleep at night and didn’t wake up in the morning. All of them fell into a coma and are currently nearing death in the local hospital. Nobody knows what’s going on so everyone’s on edge. They thought it was a gas leak at first but some of the victims share a room with their older siblings who are just fine. It might be a little far fetched but I think this is a case, I just have a feeling.” Namjoon said.
It was silent for a short while until Hoseok way too enthusiastically said: “Then let’s start! I trust your gut feeling, the hunter’s in your DNA.” Hoseok was right, Namjoon came from a family of hunters and started early on with his father, but the boy left his family behind at the tender age of fifteen to hunt with the rag tag group of boys he could now proudly call his family. His parents were against it and basically disowned him, but Namjoon didn’t regret it, hell, it was the best desicion he’s ever made in his life, with the boys he was truly free. Now he can do whatever he wanted, go wherever he wanted and most importantly; love whoever he wanted.
The other boys agreed and waited for Namjoon to tell his plan. The leader smiled humbly and said: “Alright, so Hobi and Jimin will go to the families of the victims, somebody must’ve heard or seen something. Jin-hyung and Tae will go to the hospital and talk to the doctors and Yoongi-hyung and I will speak with the police.”
The boys all hummed in agreement, except for Jungkook; “And what about me? What do I do?” the youngest of the group frowned. “Oh yeah sorry, I almost forgot. You have a very important job too. You need to do some research and find out what could be possibly causing this.” Namjoon answered.
Jungkook groaned in annoyance: “I want to go out and hunt too! Why can’t I? I’m as good as you guys!” Seokjin caressed the maknae’s hair softly and looked at him with sympathy. “We already went over this so many times, Kookie. You’re too young, once you’re eighteen you can come too but right now it would be too risky and a fake underage agent or something would attract way too much attention, I’m sorry baby.”
Jungkook pouted but leaned into Seokjin’s calming touch. The youngest of the group was already thinking about what could be the cause of this. Demons? Ghosts? Probably not, there were no reports of people with entirely black eyes and nobody died…yet, he thought grimly. Maybe some kind of ghost sickness like the one they came across in Nevada? Could be. But how come only young children were affected?
After the briefing everyone except for Jungkook dressed up in suits and took their fake IDs, then they all parted ways. Seokjin and Taehyung went to the Douglas Memorial Hospital, Hoseok and Jimin to the Sullivan family, Yoongi and Namjoon to the police station and Jungkook went to the library.
-
Hoseok and Jimin conversed softly as they made their way towards the first house on their list. The Sullivans didn’t live far from the motel so the boys could walk there comfortably. Codie Sullivan was the latest victim and they hoped to find the most information there since it had only happened two days ago.
The two young, suit wearing men walked up the front porch and Hoseok knocked on the door softly. After a few seconds a woman in her mid-thirties opened the door: “Can I help you? Who a-are you? I just came home from the hospital.” she said. The lady looked like she was about to cry, her hair was a mess and she had dark circles under her eyes. “Are you Miss Sullivan? I’m Agent Lee and this is my partner Agent Kang. We’re from the PHD, the Public Health Department. Can we come in?” Hoseok asked and they both showed their fake IDs. The woman nodded curtly and let them in.
They sat down at the kitchen table, Miss Sullivan opposite of Jimin, Hoseok next to him. Jimin started: “After hearing what had happened here, we were sent to investigate. Agent Lee and I will do our best to help your son, but you have to help us too, alright? We’ll ask you some important questions and you have to answer them truthfully.” The woman let out a sob but nodded.
“Did you hear anything the night it happened? Or was there anything out of the ordinary?” Hoseok asked. “No, nothing. There was a storm outside and in the past Codie always slept with me because storms scared him but he wanted to be a big boy and now he-” Miss Sullivan was interrupted by her own crying. Jimin grabbed both of her hands and squeezed them lightly. “Tell us about the morning when you found him.” Jimin softly said.
The woman calmed down a little and started talking again: “When I went to wake him up in the morning, he was as wirthe as a sheet and didn’t open his eyes. I was angry at first because I thought he was faking it so he didn’t have to go to school but I shook him harder and he didn’t respond and-” she cried. “Did you smell anything weird when you tried waking him up? Like rotten eggs or maybe pralines?” Hoseok asked. “Wha-No, why would you ask that?” she frowned with tears still running down her pale cheeks. “We need to be sure that it wasn’t some kind of gas leak.” Hoseok only half lied. He wanted to make sure it wasn’t a gas leak but he also wanted to see if there was evidence for some kind of demonic entity.
“I know it wasn’t a gas leak! Jamie shares a room with Codie and he’s fine!” Miss Sullivan said frustrated. “Can you show us their room, Miss?” Jimin politely asked and let go of her hands. She nodded, got up and led them up the stairs into the kid’s room.
It was nicely decorated, with stars and planets hanging from the ceiling. Opposite the door there was a window with a bed near it. When Jimin looked at the corner of the room next to the door, there was a second, occupied bed. A small blonde boy was laying on it, he was maybe eleven or ten by what Jimin could see. “Oh, you must be Jamie. I’m Agent Kang and this”, he pointed at Hoseok who now inspected the window, “is Agent Lee. We’re here to help your brother Codie.” Jimin said soothingly. The boy sat up and nodded while Miss Sullivan left the room. She was unable to look at Codie’s empty bed.
“Did anything weird happen the night your brother got sick? Did you hear or see anything that wasn’t normal?” Jimin asked. The boy squirmed a little, he seemed uncomfortable with the questions. He then looked away and shook his head. “Look at this for a second” Hoseok said and Jimin walked towards the window. Hoseok pointed next to the windowsill and Jimin breathed in sharply.
There was a big, black, claw-shaped mark that looked like it was burned into the white wooden wall. Jimin walked back towards the bed and sat down next to Jamie. The bed faintly smelled of pee and looked like it was freshly washed. Jimin put two and two toghether and said: “I had a little brother too… I know that we big brothers would do everything in the world to protect our younger siblings, right? But sometimes it’s just impossible to keep them safe alone. But you don’t have to, you’re not on your own in this. We’re here to help you and toghether we can save him. Your brother needs you now more than ever, Jamie.” Jimin said.
A single tear fell down the young boy’s cheek and he started talking quietly: “I-I saw a monster. It climbed through the window and hurt my brother! Mommy didn’t believe me but I swear it’s true, it wasn’t a nightmare it really happened!” Jimin put his arm around Jamie’s shoulder to calm him down. “Don’t worry, I believe you. What did the monster look like and how did it hurt your brother?” Hoseok, who crouched in front of the crying boy, asked. “It wore a black c-cloak and it looked really bad, like it came o-out of the old people’s home where mommy works. But the face was ugly, I was so scared. I don’t know what it did to Codie, it just leaned over him and there was this weird light. Will it come back? Will it hurt my brother or me again?” Jamie asked. He was pale and there was cold sweat on his forehead.
“Don’t worry, we’ll catch it and then it won’t hurt anybody ever again!” Hoseok announced proudly and Jimin rolled his eyes fondly at the older’s antics. “Thank you Jamie. You were so brave, Codie is lucky to have such a good older brother.” Jimin said and the young boy smiled shyly. He reminded Jimin of Jungkook for a second.
The two men got up and went downstairs to the front door. “Will my son be alright?” They turned, surprised to see Miss Sullivan standing behind them. Hoseok said with a determined look on his face: “I promise you we’ll do everything we can to save your child and let me tell you, we’re damn good at our job.” There was a small shimmer of hope in her eyes and she nearly smiled.
Suddenly Jamie was running down the stairs. “Sirs, please save my brother!” He then looked at Jimin shyly and asked: “What happened to your brother? You said earlier that you had a brother instead of saying you have one.” “Oh, I didn’t even notice. I just said it on accident, don’t worry about it.” Jimin answered, smiling sadly.

“I’m Agent Boo and this is Agent Sung. We came from the Public Health Department and are here to investigate the cause of all this” Seokjin gestured towards the eight beds in the room, all of them occupied by young children. “Oh I didn’t know they were sending somebody but I’ll help as best as I can.” The young doctor they were currently talking to said. The beds were all surrounded by beeping machines and grieving family members. As they made their way towards a pale boy with black curly hair, Seokjin swallowed thickly.
The boy was hooked to all kinds of machines, his little body seemed even smaller in the huge hospital bed. Taehyung sat down next to the boy and took his hand. The small fingers didn’t feel cold, but they weren’t warm either and the tiny boy didn’t react, he was in a deep coma after all.
“Do you have any ideas as to what could be causing this?” Seokjin asked. The doctor took the clipboard that hung at the front of the bed and flipped through some pages. Then he looked up and answered sadly: “Honestly, we have nothing. We ran every test we could think of but there isn’t anything wrong with these kids. It’s as if they’re slowly fading away just like that. I don’t know what to do anymore and I really don’t want to watch them all die like the Jones boy.”
“The Jones boy?” Taehyung asked, he was still holding the little kid’s hand. “You haven’t heard yet? Henry Jones, the first victim, died this morning. We tried to resuscitate him for over thirty minutes but it didn’t do anything, his little heart just stopped beating.”
Neither Seokjin nor Taehyung knew what to say. The hospital was a total dead-end and they both hoped that the other boys got a lead. If they didn’t find out quickly what caused this all these children were going to die sooner or later.

“Hyung please keep the tie on. I know you don’t like it but without it you’ll look unprofessional.” Namjoon patiently said, after Yoongi fidgeted with the piece of clothing around his neck for the forth time in three minutes. “I look like somebody has shoved a stick up my ass with that shitty tie and suit, this is the worst.” Yoongi complained. “You say that every single time you have to wear one of these. Don’t worry Hyung, it looks good on you” Namjoon said as they both walked towards the police station, Yoongi with a faint blush on his cheeks.
“How can I help you?” An old officer said. Yoongi didn’t like him, he smelled faintly of alcohol and seemed like he had no idea what he was doing and regretted getting out of bed today. Not that Yoongi was much better, but at least he didn’t drink and knew how to do his job. “We’re from the PHD and would like to talk to the Police Commissioner” Namjoon said. “Ah, I am the Commissioner”, Yoongi apprehended that, “Follow me into my office young men!” The guy said and went ahead.
After sitting down and introducing themselves Namjoon asked: “Were you able to find any evidence as to why this horrible thing is happening?” “Evidence? Me? This is the police, not the hospital. What’s going on is none of my business. I solve crimes and don’t plug up gas leaks!” The Commissioner said and laughed.
Yoongi was getting angry: “You can’t be serious, you haven’t even investigated anything? These kids are dying and you’re just sitting on your ass all day long drinking away your sorrows! Let’s go Joon, before I punch him in the face.”
With that Yoongi got up and stormed out of the office angrily. “I’m so sorry about him, he’s sensitive when children are involved. Thanks for your help, goodbye.” Namjoon said and hurried after Yoongi, leaving behind a stunned Commissioner.
“Hyung what the hell? I know he was an asshole but you can’t blow our cover like that! You even called me 'Joon’ in front of that idiot!” Namjoon said. He wasn’t really angry, the guy deserved it. But as the leader he had to be strict. Yoongi sighed. “I’m sorry, I just freaked out a little. I won’t endanger our cover like that again, Joon.” Namjoon put his arm around Yoongi’s shoulders as they walked back to their Camaro. “S'okay, he deserved it.”

Jungkook found a comfortable and isolated place in the corner of the library and sat down. He had about thirty medical and folklore books to go through and didn’t have any clue what he was supposed to look for. He started with diseases that only affect children and caused comas without any other symptoms.
After almost two hours of nothing he got a text message from Hoseok with a picture attached:
Hobi-hyung: Was at the last victims house with Jiminie. The older brother saw a cloaked figure looking like a creepy ugly old lady and some weird bright light . We found this outside the kid’s bedroom window on the wall [picture] I’m sorry you always have to do the boring stuff Kookie, hyung loves you :**
Jungkook quickly sent a text back saying that it was okay and then he looked at the picture. It was shaped like a hand but longer and the fingers were grotesque claws. Finally Jungkook had some leads. He took all the medical books, put them away and collected a few books about witchcraft. He carried the small stash back to the table he occupied and sat down again. The boy took his beat-up messenger bag and pulled out a book. It was old and bound in black leather, here and there some edges of pictures and maps stuck out.
Jungkook carefully opened the book, it was all written in hurried Hangul, and he started to compare the picture Hoseok sent him to the pictures in the book. Even though each page held information on a different nightmarish creature, ghost or demon, Jungkook was unable to find something that fit the thing they were looking for.He sighed, closed the book and put it back into his bag. The boy then took the highest book from the pile he collected on the table and started reading.
Finally, Jungkook thought, after two hours of skimming through basically unreadable folklore books and another hour of digging through the almighty internet on his old laptop and he found something interesting. He put all his stuff into his messenger bag, swung it over his shoulder and put the pile of books back. On his way out he was so deep in thought that he didn’t notice the man in front of him and they crashed. The sixteen year old fell to the ground and looked up in surprise.
The man that Jungkook crashed into didn’t even budge. He smiled down at the boy and offered a hand. Jungkook gladly took it, it was ice cold. “I’m sorry, I didn’t watch where I was going. Are you okay, young one?” The man asked with a friendly smile on his face. “I-I’m fine and it was my fault, I didn’t l-look.” Jungkook stuttered and his round cheeks reddened a bit. He was awful with strangers and it clearly showed. But the man just continued smiling and asked: “How old are you? I haven’t seen you here before and as the headmaster of this school”, he pointed to a building on the opposite side of the street, “I come here basically every single day.”
Jungkook hurriedly answered: “I’m just here for vacation w-with my older brothers. I’m sixteen years old and I’ll turn seventeen soon! But I-I’m in a bit of a hurry so please excuse me.” The man licked his lips, his smile widening. He said: “No bother, I apologise for stealing your time. See you soon, young one.” Then he left and Jungkook went back to the motel with an uncomfortable feeling in his gut, wondering about how weirdly the man talked to and addressed him.
-
Jungkook came back last and was happy to see that Hoseok and Jimin bought some burgers for them to eat, he was starving. They all sat down in a circle on the carpeted floor and started eating. Jungkook turned towards Taehyung after the older tapped him on the shoulder. “What is it?” Jungkook was still a little salty at Taehyung for what he did earlier in the car. The older gave him a small bag of chocolate chip cookies. When Jungkook turned the bag in his hands he saw a little note attached to it:
Sorry for squeezing your dick, I love you
-Hyungie
Jungkook rolled his eyes but accepted the cookies and moved to sit a little closer to Taehyung. The older smiled and they continued eating.
After they were done, everyone talked about the case. Yoongi went first and said: “The police in this town is a fucking joke, they didn’t even investigate and the Commissioner is a stupid alcoholic.” The silence that followed was interrupted by Taehyung: “There was this weird thing at the hospital, look at it!” Suddenly the boy got up and pulled a feeding tube out of his jacket.
“What the hell Taehyung? How did you even-You know what, nevermind. The feeding tube in Taehyung’s hands is all we got from the hospital anyways, it was a total dead-end. The doctors knew nothing but at least they were nice.” Seokjin said with a frown.
“The last victim’s older brother, Jamie Sullivan, saw a cloaked figure climb through the window. He said it looked like a deformed old lady or something. And near the window on the outside wall I found this!” Hoseok said dramatically and showed around the picture on his phone.
Jungkook loudly cleared his threat to get everyone’s attention. “I have good news and bad news. The good news is, I think I know what it is. They’re called shtrigas. It’s a kind of witch. They’re Albanian origin, but legends about them date back to Ancient Rome. They feed off people’s 'spiritus vitae’, also called 'breath of life’. They take your vitality, literally slowly sucking out your life. Shtrigas can feed off anyone, but they prefer young people. Probably because they have a stronger life force.
During the day, they disguise themselves not just as normal people but as well known and liked members of society. At night, when they hunt, they turn into these disfigured old people and usually wear a dark cloak and have long, feculent, claw-like fingers.”
They all looked at him, completely stunned. Namjoon was the first one to speak up: “Great job Jungkook. But how do we kill it and who is it?” “Uhm well…that’s the bad news. They’re basically immortal and invulnerable. You can only kill them while they feed, with consecrated iron rounds. But we have to be careful, they’re very fast and strong. And I have a theory as to who it could be, but I’m not entirely sure.”
After ending his little speech, Jungkook looked at the others. When he saw how stunned they were that he basically solved the case, he smiled shyly. “So what’s your theory on that thing’s identity, kid?” Yoongi asked. Jungkook eagerly answered: “I think that it’s the headmaster of the elementary school. When I left the library I ran into him and he seemed way too nice. He asked me about my age and stuff, it was kind of weird. So on the way back to the motel I looked into it a little. And I think my gut feeling was right. All of the victims went to the same school, Douglas Elementary, and the headmaster, his name is Carl Robinson, came to this town eight years ago. Before that time, there’s nothing. As if he didn’t exist. And now don’t freak out..but I think he wants me.”
They all looked at him with raised eyebrows and as Jungkook finally understood how that sounded, he blushed and quickly added: “N-not like that! Just the way that he talked to me. He called me 'young one’ and when I had to go he said 'see you soon’. My gut feeling tells me that he will come here tonight and we have to be ready. I already have a plan: I go to sleep in the bedroom for three, Yoongi-hyung is on one of the other beds pretending to be asleep and Hobi-hyung hides under his bed. When the shtriga comes in I’ll play bait and it will feed off me. While it does that, Yoongi-hyung and Hobi-hyung can kill it. The rest of you are in the room next door, when something happens you can immediately intervene.”
“That’s a shitty plan. You’re not gonna be that thing's next meal.” Yoongi said sternly. Jimin softly added: “I agree, the plan is way to dangerous. What if it doesn’t go right and you get hurt?” But Jungkook didn’t give in: “I’m a hundred percent sure that the shtriga will come for me tonight. We can’t kill the thing except for when it’s feeding and I’m currently the only one it’ll be satisfied with. It’ll know that we are hunters and flee if we don’t do something fast. That way we’ll never catch it. I honestly don’t think that we have a different choice.”
Namjoon sighed but agreed: “You’re right and you arguemented very logical, I’m proud of you. But are you sure that you want to do this? It’s extremely dangerous and we don’t know if the feeding process hurts.” Jungkook swallowed but nodded: “I can do it. I have to, otherwise those kids will die.” “Namjoon you can’t be serious! He’s just a ki-” “A kid, Jin-hyung? Yeah I know, but I think he’s capable of doing this and we really don’t have another choice. We won’t get a better chance than this and if we don’t kill it, the children will die.”
The oldest of the group sighed and looked at Jungkook. “Okay, let’s do it. But if you get hurt I’ll never let you out of my arms again.” Jungkook smiled at Seokjin. The youngest was okay with that, Seokjin gave the best hugs anyways. After some more complaining from Taehyung and Jimin, who wanted to protect Jungkook at all costs, they started their plan.
-
Jungkook was getting tired. He tried really hard not to fall asleep since he was playing bait for an evil, soul-sucking monster. A normal Friday, he mused. He looked over to the other side of the room where Yoongi was laying on the bed, a loaded shotgun under his blanket. Hoseok was under the bed, also holding a shotgun.
Jungkook was laying on the bed that was nearest to the window and it was eeriely quiet outside. Then he heard something. A knocking sound was coming from the window. Then there was nothing but silence. After a while the sound returned, this time a little louder. Suddenly the window creaked open and the room grew cold. Jungkook closed his eyes and tried to calm his racing heart. Then the shtriga climbed through the window and slowly made it’s way towards Jungkook’s bed. Suddenly Jungkook felt a crippling sadness inside of him and he was unable to open his eyes or move at all. It was extremely hard for Yoongi and Hoseok to just watch and do nothing as that awful thing floated towards Jungkook’s bed. As the thing leaned over their maknae and a weird light illuminated the creature’s unsightly face, Yoongi’s sweaty hands gripped the gun a little tighter.
The twenty year old then jumped out of the bed at the same time Hoseok got up from under it and they both shot the creature in the back several times. The thing made a horrible screeching sound and out of his grotesquely wide opened mouth flashes of light escaped, flew through the window and disappeared into the night. One of the lights pressed into Jungkook’s chest and the previously unconscious boy woke up with tears in his eyes. He was immediately hugged by Hoseok and a second later all the other members joined the group hug, even Yoongi. That night Jungkook slept cuddled up between Seokjin, Jimin, Hoseok and Taehyung, none of them wanting to let go of the boy. Namjoon and Yoongi cuddled up in the same room, on the other double bed and kept a fond eye on the members.
-
The next morning Seokjin got a message from the doctor saying that all the children mysteriously woke up again, so they all packed their stuff and before they left, Jungkook took the black book out of his beat-up messenger bag. He turned the pages until he got to an empty one and started writing down all the information he gathered about shtrigas. Then he stuck a messy draft of the shtriga between the pages and when he was done the book dissapeared in his bag again.
They put all their stuff and their duffle bags back into the cars and Seokjin got into the driver’s seat of the Impala. The eldest was joined by Namjoon and Hoseok while the Camaro was driven by Yoongi, with Jimin on the passenger’s seat and the two youngest ended up in the backseat again. They exited the parking lot and drove out of Douglas, without looking back.
