Hey Zack! You’re art is a really big inspiration to me and that got me wondering, what inspires you?

One word: H Y P E R F I X I A T I O N

You see, i have a maladaptive relationship with my art and characters, where they are mostly my inner world and i love them so much writing about them inspires me to draw more

I say maladaptive cause for a long time i didnt socialize cause that meant taking time out of daydreaming about them so... thats not cool

Anywho, i also get inspired by movies and manga i read! I like getting ideas and putting them im my work to make stories i find interesting!

Last manga i read was beastars and that got me excited to draw animals and so on

I also read webcomics online to get inspiration! I would recommend feast for a king by @kosmicdream and maggot boy by @flipsidered both are just really REALLY GOOD!!! AND INSPIRE ME A LOT!! FOR STORYTELLING!!!

I also want to say u should check something you want, it was made by a friend and i would never be where im at without her, and her webcomic, and .... its just a really really good story which i hold dear to my heart, you can check it on @somethingyouwant and gice it the recognizion it deserves

So. My sister passed away last may. Her name was Kira, and I made this tumblr mostly so I could read her webcomic, @somethingyouwant

When we were little she was my best friend, then i became an asshole teenager and bitchy older sister. I didn’t treat her the way I should have. Years passed. Right when I had finally felt like we were getting closer...when i was actively working on our relationship...she got her cancer diagnosis.

So.

We’re three months out from the one year anniversary of her passing. I’m starting to be able to just...function again. Things will never really ever be normal, but it’s getting easier to just do...anything.

When the diagnosis happened, it was like being thrown into the ocean. With every bit of bad news, i was given a rock to hold. When she died i was given a bolder. Then on top of that my dog died a week later, and i lost my job a month later. rocks rocks rocks. I was drowning.

Time is a chizzel. I’m still in the water. I’m still carrying the rocks. It’s just as difficult to breath sometimes, but it’s getting easier to keep my head above water.

i miss her so much. I miss her art. i miss her sense of humor. i miss her cool fashion choices. i miss finding all the things we had in common but didn’t share together. I miss having a sister. i miss having someone to roll my eyes with when our parents do something crazy. i miss her crazy cough. I miss her singing and playing the piano. i miss her recitals. i miss her.

Kira was an artist. A really fucking good one. Last week we had to go through her things, and a lot of her art supplies went to me. So i’m using them. Cause they deserve to be used. Because they were hers, and it makes me feel closer to her.

And i’m putting what i draw on tumblr, cause that’s what she did.

Hello friends, for those who don't know me, my name is Kira H. I’m a self-employed piano teacher, and author of the webcomic @somethingyouwant​ . About 6 months ago, I was diagnosed with kidney cancer - specifically Renal Cell Carcinoma of the XP-11 translocation subtype. This subtype of cancer is rare, highly aggressive, and difficult to treat. I have had my entire right kidney removed, and have just been taken off of my immunotherapy trial due to the speed and severity that my cancer had spread. I am now paying for my treatment commercially, and have also been unable to work due to the pain that my cancer causes me.

So! I have set up a YouCaring to help with medical and living costs as I move through this difficult time in my life. I have already received so much love and support from friends, family, acquaintances, and even total strangers, and I am so, so grateful for everything everyone has done for me so far.

I do believe that I will be able to beat this cancer someday, and I will keep pushing forward until I do. Thank you so much, I love you all 💕
