found out last night that Somerset House in London had an art exhibit a few months ago entitled "Cute." and my work was in it. i was not contacted about or informed of this at all...
photo cred to @chibiranmaruchan , following screenshot is from the exhibition guide
i'm not like. mad ? more like confused ? they did, in fact, credit me, which is why i found out, and i guess they did pay me since the thing they displayed was some of my bandaid stickers that you can purchase from my etsy... i'm mostly confused that they didn't think to tell me my stuff would be in it. also if i wasn't told about this then i'm sure the other artists included in the same subsection weren't as well and imo that really sucks :(
also a little turned off cuz the exhibit apparently opened with big pics of AI generated cats.... thats a whole other thing but like. that combined with not contacting me is a lil 🤨
minor gripe that does not matter at all but the uh bandaid set of mine that they put on display is my least favorite one and one that i only had up on my shop for a couple of months 😭😭 i kept having printer issues w it so i took it down... they talk about yamikawaii but didn't even use my set that's specifically named after the style ! and they didn't even put my fav sticker from the set they DID use out ! like did you not like my silly kitty bandaid enough to put it on display ?? rude smh
also i dunno... it might've been nice to have been compensated more than the like $6 the bandaids cost on my shop... oh well. would've also been nice to know about it while it was on going ! and not like three months after it ended ! (not like i could've gone anyway i live on a completely different continent)
anyway i just wanted to make a post about this getting all my thoughts out bc mainly i think this is just absolutely wild to have happened
#menhera#yamikawaii#my art#also can i use this to make myself look cooler somehow so i get accepted into more cons#i do in fact. need money :|#also to the person whos pic i used lemme know if u dont want me using it and ill take it down !#another minor gripe is my artist name is meant to be written in all lowercase but whatever

Sue Webster achieved fame and success in the post-Young British Artist era with her then-husband Tim Noble. Following their separation in 2013, the 56-year-old Leicester-born multi-media conceptualist re-visited her teenage obsessions for fresh inspiration as a solo artist. One of those obsessions: hero worship for life-changing punk band Siouxsie and The Banshees. As Webster recently told the Evening Standard, it prompted a new direction for her art: “I based it on a theory that everything I’ve ever learnt in life was from listening to Siouxsie’s first four albums.” (Me too, Sue! Me, too!).
During lockdown, Webster began daubing naïve outsider art-style portraits of spooky punk high priestess Siouxsie onto vintage black leather motorcycle jackets sourced from Spitalfields Market. (One of these efforts was prominently displayed in the first “Monster” room of the recent visionary Horror Show exhibit at Somerset House). Webster’s current “Full Leather Jackets” exhibit in Hackney Wick collates all these works. I went yesterday with my friend Sam and was entranced! Here are my pics. Alongside the customized biker jackets, the exhibit includes re-printed pages from Webster’s adolescent diary. My favourite entry begins something like “Dad confiscated my hair crimpers …”
In the Evening Standard piece, Webster recalls the brain-scrambling impact of coming across a black-and-white photo of Siouxsie in the music press aged 11. That mirrors my experience exactly: it was seeing a grainy pic of Siouxsie in all her cadaverous glory in a magazine when I was in my early teens that planted the idea of moving to London. (All these decades later, I’m still unsure whether to be grateful to her or not!).
Further thoughts:
One funny thing Webster noted: in the old days of the music press before the internet, you'd turn to the ads to mail order your punk and New Wave t-shirts, badges and accessories (especially if you didn’t live in London). She wanted to track down the old-school Siouxsie badges that were ubiquitous in the late seventies / early eighties. During lockdown she scoured eBay, and they simply seemingly haven't survived into the present-day. You can't source 'em anywhere. So, for the exhibit, Webster created her facsimiles.
Finally: needless to say, I deliberately wore a Siouxsie t-shirt to the exhibit – and then forgot to ask Sam to take a photo of me standing in front of one of the jackets! Anyway, see even more here.
The “Full Leather Jackets” exhibit is at Project Space, Unit 14-15 Trafalgar Mews, Hackney Wick, E9 5JG. Wednesday - Saturday 12-6 pm, 28 June - 15 July 2023.

first self-date day :)
today was a big day for me!!!
i decided to check out the art exhibit at somerset house. i had no idea what was on display, but decided to make an adventure of it. i was so moved by the rukus! exhibit, i teared up sooooo many times... highly recommend looking at the photography of Ajamu X. then went onto sir john soane's museum, but the queue was too long to enter :( so i crossed the street to lincoln's inn field and took a lovely walk!! hummed to myself as i walked through the field and trees. then decided to get lost and find my way back to trafalgar square... and miraculously succeeded by the grace of my burgeoning londoner eye...! i hung outside for a bit and watched some children dance to the music of the busker :) a nice german couple asked me to take their photo outside of the national gallery, which made me smile. then my hands were too cold to move so i figured i'd pop into a pub. took a photo for another couple on the way there, then found a back alley pub that was delightfully tucked away and so, so cozy. tried to practice spanish w/ this group of men from spain but they were a bit toooooooo friendly and this lovely englishwoman intervened and invited me to sit w/ her and her friend. we all chatted for abt two hours about the world and i just loved getting their london recommendations. very, very sweet people to add to my already rosy perception of the city.
it felt nice to get lost and find my way back. i love learning to trust myself and my instincts. one of the men they interviewed for rukus! talked abt "scratching away at the veneers of life," which i found to be a striking image and a defining thought for this journey i'm on.
now i'm home... sleepy... but going on another lily adventure tomorrow... insert shock emoji
my fav pick played by the cool busker ^^^

Now Play This
Now Play This, or NPT, is 'the UK's leading experimental games festival'. They draw attention to more unique games, controllers and related concepts, hosting events to celebrate themes, topics and ideas.
The theme of 2024 was Liminality, with the articles and events reflecting this. The first one I saw was 'Cardboard Beats Keyboard', crafting physical controllers for games, hosted by Alex Johanson. Being an idiot with a craft knife and modelling glue, this is something I'm naturally interested in. Although the article was extremely short, it reminded me of the Nintendo Labo and it's uniqueness. It hasn't exactly had an imapact on me, but I think the event seemed neat.
The next event I saw was on Boring Office Party, a murder mystery office party LARP. This was also something I was interested in, given how much of Traitors and Death in Paradise I watch [too much, far too much]. It seemed to be very open, contrasting with how most murder mystery LARPs [particularly family board game ones] box players into specific predefined characters which is something I never enjoyed.
I then moved onto games. The first one I saw was by Argentinian worker's cooperative Atuel Matajuegos, about a river flowing through the Cuyo desert. The game explores how climate change threatens the ecosystem as the player shifts into different animals, exploring the surreal, seemingly fantastical world.
The last game I looked at was Viewfinder. This is something I'd covered in my last project, and a game I still loved. The art is gorgeous and the mechanics aren't just brilliant theoretically, they're executed in an extremely slick manner - taking and placing photos is an incredibly simple mechanic, but the inherent complexity makes Viewfinder an wonderful game to play, explore and adapt to.

X/O
x/o is Veron Xio (they/them) a Vietnamese-Canadian electronic music producer and multidisciplinary artist based in Vancouver.
Interested in disrupting gender binaries and transgressing codes of identity, x/o uses hyper-masculine and hyper-feminine tropes to build new worlds; an audiovisual exploration of duality and cyclical emotions.
In 2017, x/o released their debut project Cocoon Egg on the experimental UK label Quantum Natives. The EP was described by The Wire as having “…a complex, compelling affect hardly heard in digital music.”
This was followed by their full-length album Chaos Butterfly, released in 2022 on the Berlin / London based label Precious Metals. The project is an epic tale of catarsis and self-actualization explored through metamorphosis. It is a free-falling kaleidoscopic journey into a beautiful nightmare, both cataclysmic and tender.
Critics have praised the album with descriptions such as:
“...nu-metal and trip-hop influenced, experimental-leaning sounds within...haunting Evanescence-style vocals and jungle-influenced percussion…This is a multi-dimensional release.” – Resident Advisor
“...the breakthrough of hard-hitting and ethereal.” – Still Listening
“...end-of-level boss energy.” – Loud & Quiet
“A criss-cross of glitchy textures, grungy 90’s trip-hop beats and heavy metal grit, the production factor is huge on an x/o track.” – Sonduke Magazine
In 2023, x/o served as executive producer on Egyptian-Canadian singer-songwriter Almaazz’s EP Sot Wa Sada. The project combines avant-garde sound design and contemporary club rhythms with Almaazz’s traditional Arabic songwriting to spectacular effect. It was featured on Resident Advisor, named Bandcamp’s Album of the Day, and received airplay on both BBC Radio 3 and 6 Music.
They have presented work internationally, including Phoenix Central Park (Sydney), Palais de Tokyo (Paris), ICA Institute of Contemporary Arts (London), Festival She Makes Noise (Madrid), Berghain (Berlin), and HeK House of Electronic Arts (Basel).
In 2019, they were selected for the MUTEK Amplify residency at Somerset House Studios UK and Red Bull Bass Camp Calgary at the National Music Centre.
They have previously released a string of singles, remixes, and collaborations, working with various artists including Animistic Beliefs, Oli XL, ZAH, Rui Ho, City, and Team Rockit.
PROJECT
Their show is available in diferent formats;
Audiovisual Performance: An immersive multimedia experience combining live music with visuals crafted by x/o or in collaboration with visual artists. This format amplifies the storytelling elements of x/o’s music, integrating themes of metamorphosis, duality, and emotional cycles with synchronized visuals.
Ideal for festivals, gallery spaces, and multimedia showcases, the audiovisual performance creates a transformative environment for audiences.
Live Show (Music Only): A standalone live performance highlighting x/o’s music with a focus on vocal delivery and electronic production. This format strips back the visuals to center the music with lighting, providing a direct, powerful connection with the audience.
It is well-suited for clubs, music venues, and intimate performance spaces.
DJ Set: A high-energy DJ set showcasing x/o’s curation of experimental club music, including their own productions, remixes, and influences.
This format is adaptable to a variety of contexts, from club nights to art events, and brings x/o’s genre-defying sound to the forefront.

- Still Listening
«...energía de jefe de final de nivel» - Loud & Quiet

Theme and Color Scheme: Choose decor that complements your wedding theme and color palette.
Floral Arrangements: Floral arrangements can enhance the venue’s ambiance, adding beauty and elegance.
Lighting: Effective lighting can dramatically transform a space, setting the right mood for your celebration.
Accommodation and Transportation
If you have guests traveling from afar, consider the following:
Nearby Hotels: Look for venues with nearby hotel options or partnerships to secure group rates for your guests.
Transport Links: Ensure the venue is easily accessible via public transport or provide information on parking options for those driving.
Booking Tips and Best Practices
To make the booking process smooth:
Book Early: Popular venues can book up quickly, so secure your date as early as possible.
Read the Contract Carefully: Understand all terms and conditions, including cancellation policies and what’s included in the package.
Ask Questions: Don’t hesitate to ask the venue about any specifics, from setup times to restrictions on decor.
Budgeting for Your Wedding
Managing your budget is crucial for a stress-free planning process. Here’s how to budget effectively:
Set a Budget: Determine a realistic budget that covers all aspects of your wedding, including the venue, catering, and decor.
Compare Quotes: Obtain quotes from multiple venues to ensure you’re getting good value for your money.
Prioritize Expenses: Allocate your budget based on what’s most important to you, whether it’s the venue, catering, or other elements.
Planning Services and Support
If you need extra help with planning:
Full-Service Planners: Consider hiring a full-service wedding planner to handle all aspects of your wedding, from venue selection to day-of coordination.
Partial Planning: If you only need assistance with specific tasks, such as venue booking or vendor coordination, partial planning services may be a good fit.
Day-of Coordination: For those who prefer to manage most details themselves, a day-of coordinator can ensure everything goes smoothly on the big day.
Creating a Memorable Experience
To ensure your wedding stands out:
Personal Touches: Add unique elements such as personalized favors, custom decor, or a special activity to make your wedding unforgettable.
Entertainment: Consider incorporating live music, a DJ, or other entertainment to keep your guests engaged and entertained.
Comfort: Ensure your guests are comfortable with adequate seating, climate control, and easy access to amenities.
