why is Thunderbolts Bucky so đ„”đ„”đ„” please eat me up
I agree, nonnie!
Eat You Up
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female Reader
Summary: Bucky comes home after a mission and wastes no time making up for the time apart.
Word Count: Over 1.7k
Warnings: Established relationship, oral sex (f. receiving), light dirty talk, mention of cockwarming, slight feels (it's me), Bucky Barnes (he's a warning, okay?).
A/N: Sorry, lovelies. I was inspired. Not beta read and written on my phone, so any and all mistakes are my own. Please follow @navybrat817-sideblog for new fics and notifications. Comments, reblogs, feedback are loved and appreciated!
âJust landed. Safe and sound. Tough mission, but successful. Missed you. Be home soon.â
You reread the message, your heart rate picking up. Bucky had been away on a mission for a few days and couldn't reach out much. God, you missed him so much. Knowing now that your man would be home soon where he belonged, you let out a breath of relief and smiled.
You rushed to your bedroom and wasted no time getting ready for his arrival. The message was to the point: He was safe and sound, no injuries, and a tough mission meant heâd need some stress relief. Why not let him play with the person he missed most?
Your heart raced when you heard the footsteps outside of the bedroom door, waiting in anticipation in the middle of the bed. In a few moments, you two would reconnect. Being without him in your home for a few days left you longing. You missed his smile. His dry humor. The sight of him reading a book in his favorite chair. You missed all of him.
Bucky slowly pushed the door open, and you lost your breath when he met your gaze. The heat in the room spiked, but you shivered, your body suddenly feeling cold after days without his touch. His massive build took up most of the doorframe and he was still in his black tactical gear, a fingerless glove covering his right hand. Your beautiful soldier looked like he was still on a mission, his shoulders tight and jaw clenched.
And you didn't have a stitch of clothing on, your legs open and ready for him to do whatever he wanted.
His eyes darkened as they scanned your body, his breathing ragged. Whether it was from the mission or the relief of being back with you, the tension thickened in the air. His gaze paused at the juncture between your legs, his breath catching as he took in the sight of you, before he growled, âLook at you. Such a sight to come home to.â Stepping forward, his voice thick with desire, he added, âI could just eat you up.â
The room seemed to shrink as he stepped closer. His eyes never left you as he closed the distance, his gaze filled with adoration and hunger, his presence overwhelming. Everything about him was overwhelming in the best possible way. Your heart raced as he crawled on the bed, but you didnât flinch. You were ready for him.
âIf that's what you need, Sergeant,â you breathed, a teasing challenge in your smile. He exhaled sharply as you slid a hand down your torso, his chest rising and falling faster, as if he was holding himself back from taking you right then and there. âThen you'll get it.â
You could handle whatever he craved... and more. Maybe you'd make him beg for it for once the way you begged so many times before. No. You wouldn't be cruel enough to make him beg. At least not tonight. Not when you both needed it.
âTrying to touch whatâs mine?â He grabbed your wrist before your fingers could reach home, your skin warm under his gentle grip. He was one of the most powerful men you knew, someone with enough strength to rip you in half if he wished, but he would never use his strength to hurt you. âYou miss me?â The ache in his voice was more than desire. It was longing.
âI won't touch. Itâs all yours.â Your chest tightened when he released your wrist, your eyes suddenly burning with unshed tears, your hands itching to feel his body and know for certain he was really there with you. âI always miss you when you're gone.â
You didn't like eating meals alone now since you had come to expect easy and tough conversations as the two of you moved around the kitchen and sat at the table. You enjoyed exploring your surroundings together, but craved nights cuddled up together on the couch as the television played in the background. Building a home with the ex-assassin was a dream come true.
He hovered over you and tilted your chin, giving you a second to take a breath, before he leaned down and claimed your mouth in a feverish kiss. The ferocity made you gasp, your arms wrapping around him to hold him close. Your nipples brushed against his shirt as you deepened the kiss, desperate and needy. The kiss was a promise, expressing everything you wanted to say before the night was over.
That you loved him, that he was all you needed, that your house was a home because he was back with you.
His hair fell in his face as he broke the kiss and moved his gloved hand between your legs. You mewled when he teased your slit, his stare as seductive as his touch. You rolled your hips up, seeking out more friction, wanting him to make good on his promise to eat you up.
âI missed you,â he whispered, gliding down your body with the grace of a large cat. The muscles in his back rippled as his shoulders spread you open for him, your hands gripping the sheets to keep you from grinding against his face. âAnd I missed this. Your taste. Your smell. Your sounds.â
You whimpered when his nose brushed your clit. âBucky, please,â you begged, his hands taking hold of your hips and digging in. And here you thought neither of you would beg tonight.
But Bucky Barnes wasn't a heartless man. He showed mercy when he had to, which was why he took pity and licked a stripe up your pussy with a groan. Flames spread along your body as you threw your head back and moved your hands to grip his hair. He ate pussy skillfully, effortlessly, and all you could do was hold on and ride out the waves of ecstasy.
âGood girl. So beautiful. And all mine,â he murmured before he shoved his tongue inside your hole, your eyes rolling back and mouth parting. Your super soldier had his head buried between your legs like he never wanted to leave.
âI⊠Oh, fuck!â you cried, his gloved hand reaching up to toy with your breast. His fingers teased your nipple, his metal thumb rubbing your clit, and you couldn't stop yourself from pushing your hips closer. You had no shame in humping his face as his tongue moved along your sensitive walls, his beard leaving the most delicious burn with each movement.
And if you smothered your lover with your cunt tonight, heâd proudly saunter up to the gates of whatever heaven you sent him to with a smile.
He pulled his tongue out, his mouth sucking on the swollen bundle of nerves as your thighs trembled. You lifted your head high enough to catch the feral look in his eyes. Pleasure climbed within you so quickly it left you dizzy. âSuch a pretty pussy. Should write poems about it.â
âOh, God,â you moaned, your head falling back again, heat filling your body.
âMy name,â he growled, pushing two metal fingers into your wetness and pumping fast, knowing you wouldn't last much longer. You were right on the edge, ready to fall. Heâd be there to catch you. âSay my name when you come.â
You didn't say his name as his tongue entered you once more. You shouted it, chanted it like a prayer, and soaked his mouth with your juices. He moaned as you fluttered around his tongue, and he continued to lap at you, trying to drink down every drop. He swept you up in waves of bliss and you were lucky you didn't drown.
Sparks still burst behind your eyes as he sat back to admire his work, making you clench around nothing as he licked his lips. You held out your arms with a whine, needing him close once again as you came back to yourself. He stretched out on top of you and pressed a soft kiss to your lips, your essence lingering on his. Your hands roamed where they could reach and it sent a thrill through you when he moaned.
âHi,â he whispered after a moment, smiling and making your heart pound all over again.
âHi,â you sighed, shutting your eyes and smiling, too, when he kissed each eyelid. You were lucky enough to witness this soft side of him, trusted enough for him to be vulnerable.
âYou okay?â He kissed your forehead this time.
âBetter than okay. Youâre home,â you replied, breathing him in before you opened your eyes. Your heart stopped momentarily under his soft gaze. âAre you okay?â
He was the one out there fighting to keep the world safe. Not only that, he still fought the demons of his past from time to time. It wasn't fair, but you were there to help as you could.
âIâm good, doll. Iâm home. Everything I need is right here,â he said, rocking his hips. You moaned when you felt how hard he was through his pants. He deserved to feel good. âAnd we have some lost time to make up for, so no falling asleep on me.â
âLost time? It was only a few days,â you teased, tucking a strand of hair behind his ear when he huffed.
âA few days too many,â he said, not teasing at all as he leaned up to unbuckle his belt. âDrives me crazy being apart from you.â He would never leave you if he didn't have to.
âI know. I was just teasing. We can make up for every second you were away,â you assured him, knowing he wasn't done with you tonight by a long shot. You were fine with that since you wanted him just as badly as he wanted you. âBucky?â
He paused before he could push his pants down. âYeah, doll?â
You traced a heart on his forehead, wanting to erase the pain he endured and replace it with only good things. âI love you.â
He blinked the mist from his eyes and leaned down, pressing his forehead to yours. âI love you, too.â
When you finally fell asleep the following morning with his cock buried deep inside you, he whispered again that he loved you and that he couldn't wait to eat you up all over again once you woke up.
That's two back-to-back Bucky fics in a little over 29 hours from me with him being in love and not afraid to eat you like his last meal. đ Are you lovelies sick of me by now? I hope not. Love and thanks for reading! â€ïž

Some things to remember with Plan B, progestin-only pills, and other emergency contraceptives:
- Plan B is less effective if you're over 150 lbs. Some sources say that taking two increases effectiveness over that weight.
- Plan B HAS to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex, and the earlier its taken the better. Stock up if you can!
-Plan B prevents ovulation, and it's not going to work if you've already ovulated for the month. Only take 1 per menstrual cycle.
- Even if you haven't ovulated, it's still not 100%, so always take a pregnancy about 2 weeks after unprotected sex.
-PLAN B IS NOT AN ABORTION!! Again, it just prevents ovulation, it will not harm an existing pregnancy.
-Progestin only birth control pills HAVE to be taken at the same time every day, otherwise the effectiveness decreases considerably.
-There are NO "PLACEBO DAYS" with progestin based birth control pills!
- Combined pills (which is what most people are familiar with: estrogen and progestin) come with a week of sugar pills that people can take to maintain the habit. That's when you get your period. With combined pills it's possible to just not take those pills or start a new pack instead of taking them to skip a period. That is NOT POSSIBLE with progestin pills. You have to take EVERY PILL IN THE PACK!!
-Progestin based methods (progestin pill, Nexplanon, IUD, Depo) can sometimes be better if you have intense migraines (especially with an aura) than estrogen/combined methods (combined pill, patch, nuvaring)
-Medication doesn't quite expire the same way that food does. Anyone with more pharmaceutical knowledge feel free to expand/correct me, but if your only options are to take an expired Plan B or don't take one at all, take the Plan B. OBVIOUSLY, TALK TO A DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST BEFORE YOU DO THIS!! Taking expired meds should be an absolute EMERGENCY LAST RESORT OPTION!!
- If you have health insurance and you're able to go to a doctor/urgent care, see if you can get a prescription for Ella. It's another type of emergency contraceptive (like Plan B) but it's more effective, more consistent, has a higher weight limit, and can be safely taken up to 96 hours after unprotected sex (5 days). However, it's prescription only. See if your provider will put in refills so you can easily and quickly pick it up from a pharmacy if you need another in the future.
-Plan B can also be written as a prescription, therefore covered by insurance! For example, in Colorado, Medicaid will cover the cost of Plan B completely if it's written as a prescription, talk to a pharmacist or your doctor about it!
-Some IUDs can be used as emergency contraception as well as long as they're placed within 96 hours of unprotected sex! In those instances they are over 99% effective as emergency contraception, and you can keep it in to continue to avoid pregnancy for 7-12 years. NOTE: this is ONLY the Paragard (copper, non-hormonal, and good for 10-12 years) and the Mirena/Liletta (hormonal, good for 7-8 years.)
- If nothing else works, use condoms or the pull out method!! It's not 100%, but it's WAYYY better than nothing!
There's obviously so much more to be said about birth control and emergency contraceptives. Please please PLEASE, if you can get pregnant and don't want to, go to a Planned Parenthood, OBGYN, urgent care, primary care physician, or even your pharmacist and create a birth control plan. A lot of pharmacies will have a telehealth program that's very cheap and easy to get prescriptions, and will even provide discount codes for medication if you don't have insurance. With a GoodRX coupon, common birth control pills are like $10 a month, sometimes even cheaper.
There are no morals attached to getting an abortion. As someone who has worked directly with patients in abortion care for over 3 years, I promise you that you are not a bad person if you need one. Many people do, it's a fact of life. But for the majority of people, it is much cheaper and easier to come up with contraceptive plan first.
You don't HAVE to use hormonal birth control, but take some time to come up with a plan! I promise it'll make your life much simpler in the long run.
(PS: There is, of course, much more nuance to this than I've addressed. Not everyone can take hormonal birth control, but if you're in the US or somewhere else that severely limits abortion, it is YOUR responsibility to come up with a contraceptive plan. There are tons of non-hormonal options, and honestly some of them really suck, but they're ALL better at preventing pregnancy than no contraception at all.)
Plan B has a shelf life of 4 years

(Also, you can get 4 months of over the counter birth control (progestin-only pill form) at Costco for $50. Or 3 months on Amazon for about $45.)
#Source: I've been educating and counseling people on contraceptives (including abortion) at Planned Parenthood for over 3 years#I'm not a doctor so please direct medical questions to someone with a medical license#This is just the basic knowlegde that Planned Parenthood let me say to everyone#Obviously if you have other medical conditions or take other medications ALWAYS talk to a medical provider about contraceptives

pookieeee how are youuu đ I'm in NEED of a Franco fic where the reader is JoĂŁo FĂ©lix's little sister...
So she obvi speaks Portuguese and English (maybe some Italian in there too) butttt unlike her brother her Spanish is rusty. So when reader drags her brother (and of course some of the guys from the team) to support her best friend at a race, he's listening in to every little comment Franco makes about her in Spanish and trying to subtly give hints to reader that he likes her, and of course some good brother teasing! Just hardcore fluff, friend pining and good old family banter!
HE CAN UNDERSTAND - FC43
listen up : i used google translate donât come for me. not proofread! super cute and fluffy! loved this request sorry if i didng execute it wellđ
word count : 2281
âïœĄâ§Ëâ
âFranco!â I jump into my best friends arms as he laughs. The moment I asked for three Grand Prix tickets, he sent them over immediately and went on a rant of how excited he was to see me.
âY/n!â He grins widely at me, âIâm so happy youâre here!â He's in his race suit, his hair messy and extra wavy. I run my hand through it, fixing it a bit.
âYouâre a mess.â I laugh as he pushes my hand away and rolls his eyes, âOh!â I suddenly remember that my brother is standing behind me. âThis is my brother, JoĂŁo! I canât believe you two havenât met!â I smile at both of them as my brother shakes Francoâs hand.
Oddly professional for someone he knows I love. âNice to finally meet you. Y/n never shuts up about you.â I slightly blush at his words as Franco lets out a laugh.
âGood to knowâŠâ Franco gives us a mini tour. I'm so beyond happy for him. This has been his dream since forever, the first time I met him he even jokingly flirted and said I could be a WAG.
Franco is charming and hilarious so my brother likes him instantly. We end up in the Williamâs garage, everyone scrambling around and talking in languages I canât understand.
Since itâs race day, iâm genuinely surprised Franco had the time to see us. Especially since Qualifying was earlier today.
But my best friend works in magical ways.
âàŒș
FRANCO
I watch Y/n talk to Alexâs girlfriend. I watch as her hair flows down her back and her hand covers her mouth as she laughs. âSo,â JoĂŁo turns to me, sort of intimidating for his height but so far I think he approves of me. âYouâve known Y/n for a while, huh?â
I nod, âYeah, she hasn't been able to shake me yet.â He laughs, nodding his head.
âYou care about her?â Why do I feel like iâm getting interrogated?
I nod, âOf course. Sheâs my best friend.â
âI mean as more than a friend.â
I laugh uncomfortably, joking with him, âAre you asking me my intentions?â He does not find this funny. I clear my throat and breathe out, âWeâre just friends.â
Y/n comes skipping back over to us. Iâve always been taught to not lie, but iâm not about to confess that I like her to fucking brother.
âJ, youâve got to see his car!â She takes his arm and pulls him away, âYou coming, Fran?â
Iâm about to follow after them but my engineer taps my shoulder, âGimmie one second! Don't touch anything, Y/n, I know how you are!â
She gives me one of her signature smiles, making my pulse quicken and my smile falter. I catch her brother giving me an odd look before I sit up and wave.
I turn to my engineer whoâs smiling, big, âDios mĂo, te estĂĄs sonrojando.â (My god, youâre blushing.) I roll my eyes at him, turning to see Y/n point to my car and start asking questions to someone in blue.
âÂĄCĂĄllate por favor!â (Shut up please!) Her Spanish is more than rusty. I've tried to teach her some but she gets distracted and she always ends up persuading me into something different. Still, itâs weird talking about her when sheâs right there.
âVamos, ÂĄte gusta! Es la forma en que la miras... como si fuera el sol.â (Come on, you like her! Itâs the way you look at her⊠like sheâs the sun.) I push his shoulder at his words. Christ, is it that obvious?
âActĂșas como si fuera un cachorrito enamorado.â (You act like iâm some lovesick puppy)
âÂĄPorque lo eres! Siempre hablas de ella, tu pantalla de bloqueo es ella, ÂĄsiempre le estĂĄs enviando mensajes de texto! AdmĂtelo.â (Because you are! You always talk about her, your lock screen is her, you are always texting her! Just admit it.)
I cross my arms at him, not daring to glance back at her. âNo voy a arruinar mi relaciĂłn con ellaâŠâ I shake my head and tease him, âÂĄAhora vuelve a trabajar!â (Iâm not ruining my relationship with her⊠now get back to work!)
I join Y/n and JoĂŁo again, smiling and doing my duty as a tour guide. JoĂŁo gives me another weird look and iâm hoping itâs not because iâm losing his trust. I know iâm not her boyfriend, but I still want him to like me.
They are soon asked to step into the visitors area as I warm up for the race. Y/n kisses my cheek before she goes, âGood luck, Fran. Be careful!â I know my cheeks are red but all I can focus on is her so close to me, her lips on my cheek.
I nod, âThank you. Have fun watching.â I wink at her and turn, getting ready.
âàŒș
YOU
âIâm so nervous! Itâs so rainy!â I bite my lip as the cars go out on track in a second formation lap. The race hasnât even started and someoneâs already out!
My brother eyes me, heâs been acting weird all day and I hate it. He suddenly turns to me, âYou donât like Franco?â
It catches me off guard, âUh⊠of course I do?â He rolls his eyes.
âI mean can you see yourself with him? I think youâd be cute.â I laugh out loud.
âJoĂŁo, when have you ever wanted me to date someone?â Especially Franco. I mean, maybe iâve thought about it.
Okay maybe I've fantasized about it⊠a lot.
But what am I supposed to do? Confess to my best friend whoâs always been there for me that I think heâs irresistible and criminally hot? No.
âI just think if youâre gonna date anyone⊠Heâs a good option.â My cheeks heat as I shake my head, âYouâre blushing! Come on, Y/n, why not?â
âJust shut up, the race is starting!â
The next time he brings it up is at a yellow flag, âHeâs definitely nicer than your ex.â I give him a death glare and attempt to tune him out, âAnd who did you go crying to after he broke your heartâŠ.?â Franco. The answer is Franco because heâs always there.
Itâs been hard recently because of his races, but heâs constantly texting or calling me. I think he just wants someone to gossip with.
âAgain, heâs my friend. Just because you have a girlfriend now doesnât mean you know everything!â
âNo but I know everything about you, and you donât look at your other friends like that.â I hate that stupid smug smile on his face. And I hate that heâs right.
My stomach drops when Franco goes into the wall. I grab onto my brother's arm who doesnât look concerned at all and more happy that iâm so worried! I slap his arm, âYou have no empathy!â
I cross my arms, biting my lip as I watch him exit the car. Thank god heâs okay.
Franco gives me a small thumbs up when heâs back in the garage. I can tell heâs absolutely gutted, the air is awkward and thick with tension since Francoâs crash meant that the whole team's weekend is over.
The race is long and honestly scary. Still, all I can think about is Franco.
Maybe this weekend, his attention to me, my brothers comments, and how Francoâs been looking at me, has finally sealed what I've been dreading.
Iâve known I like him for a while, but I donât want to ruin us. I canât be embarrassed by my closest friend!
Iâm not an idiot, I see how he flirts with interviewers or even fans. Part of me wants to believe thatâs just his personality, but the other part is screaming at me that he doesnât like me.
His eyes though, he looks at me so deeply that sometimes I feel like I'm apart of some big trick.
âHey,â My brother nudges me, âRace is over.â I snap out of whatever daze I was in and nod, âI gotta pee, go talk to Franco!â
When I look to where he points, Francoâs already looking at me. His race suit is unzipped and he looks so tired. âHi.â He smiles softly but I can tell itâs forced.
âSorry your first race with me sucked.â He frowns, leaning against the little barrier from the garage and friends and family.
âHeyâŠâ I touch his arm briefly, âIt did not suck! And Itâs not your fault. It was scary thoughâŠâ
His eyes look sad and I know itâs not just because he crashed. Franco feels so deeply and this weekend has been especially hard for him. I can tell he sees the worry on my face, âI'm really really happy youâre here. Weâre getting dinner later, right?â
I go to the hotel with JoĂŁo first. We change and meet back at the restaurant. âIâm so hungry!â I groan as we sit down, Franco said he would be here soon but I am not above ordering early.
JoĂŁo sits across from me, âGotta wait for your boyfriend.â
I eye him, âYou better not say anything in front of Franco. I donât want to make him uncomfortable.â He laughs a bit.
âI really donât think I will.â Heâs so ominous today. âI can tell iâm making you uncomfortable though. My only question is⊠why?â
âWhy?â
âWhy canât you accept that you like him? Heâs obviously not going to turn you down. Heâs practically got hearts in his eyes when he talks to you.â The waiter brings water which I gulp down immediately.
âI- No! I canât like him. Heâs my friend.â
âSo youâve said⊠but the best relationships start out that way.â Why is he pushing this so much?
âI just⊠I donât want to ruin our relationship.â.
âFunnyâŠâ he mumbles something, âThat's what he said too.â but I canât hear him because Franco sits and starts saying hello.
Our dinner is amazing, the food is perfect and I canât stop laughing at Franco and JoĂŁo. âYouâve gotta come to a match sometime!â My brother laughs, âThe team would love you.â
Franco grins, âI would be honored! Y/n always talks about your games, youâre pretty good apparently.â This boosts my brother's ego far too much and we end the night while talking about football and childhood stories.
âHe always teased me with his friends!â I roll my eyes at the memory, âThey were all learning Spanish in highschool so I never understood them!â
Franco laughs as JoĂŁo shakes his head, âWhy didnât you take spanish in highschool?â
âI did! I just never caught on. Plus JoĂŁo became fluent after school anyway so his schooling barely helped.â I shrug as Francoâs expression turns odd.
He blinks, looking to JoĂŁo, âYouâre fluent?â
âSi.â He looks almost smug about it as Franco nods slowly, swallowing.
âAsĂ que escuchasteâŠâ (So you heardâŠ)
âTodo.â (Everything) Francoâs smile drops completely at my brothers words. But my brother still carries on with a smile, âEres muy obvio, pero lo apoyo.â (Youâre very obvious, but I support it.)
I frown at their communication that I canât understand, âOkay, can you two stop gossiping? Iâm ready to leave.â Franco smiles at me, nodding slowly as we stand.
Our walk back to the hotel is short and luckily no fans interrupt it. The warmth of the inside makes me smile and the ding of the elevator makes me yearn for my bed.
âUh, Y/n?â I look back at Franco as he talks, âCould I speak to you for a momentâŠâ I look at my brother who nods, a smile still on his face as he disappears behind the elevator doors. âLetâs go outside.â
Itâs no longer raining so we venture out into the hotel's garden. Itâs beautiful with tall plants and trees, a small path that we walk on, and flowers that I've never seen before.
âWhat did you walk to talk to me about?â I turn to him, he looks oddly scared and a bit chilly. He starts to speak but then closes his mouth and thinks, âFrancoâŠ?â
âI like you.â As soon as the words leave his mouth, I freeze, âI really like you and not just as a friend⊠like way more than that.â
I blink, âYouâre kidding?â
The panic on his face is immediate, âNo?â
âShit. Okay!â I realize iâm so caught up in my own world that he probably thinks I donât like him, âI feel the same.â
He breathes out, stepping closer, âYou fucking scared me.â
I smile, not believing this is even real, âYou really like me? Because my brother has been making me feel delusional all day!â He takes my hand in his and I swear my heart skips a beat.
âHe heard me talking about you in spanishâŠâ I raise a brow, âMy engineer was teasing me and I didnât know he spoke it!â I laugh, shaking my head at his story, âBut I'm glad he did. I probably would be sitting in my room all alone if he hadn't.â
I grip his hand tighter, stepping closer, âIâm really glad too. I didnât want to ruin anything but fuck I really like you.â
He grins and leans in, He paused before I nod. Franco presses a kiss to my lips softly, âI canât believe you have a crush on me.â I whisper as groans and rolls his eyes, trying to walk away.
âNo! No taking it back now!â I laugh, pulling him back to me, my hand going to his neck and my lips meeting his, âYouâre stuck with me now.â

đ„ svt vs. reader's bad boyfriend.

â§âËâ©ćœĄ includes: reader has a bad boyfriend, hurt/comfort, [light] angst, crack, cussing, [short] headcanons under the cut.
đ„ headcanons .á
â "break up with him now" â© junhui, soonyoung, wonwoo, minghao, vernon.
ah, yes. the trope of someone who will immediately insist that breaking up is the solution, although, in this case, it's completely warranted. soonyoung and minghao are the most vocal about you ending your relationship, but in their own little ways. for his part, soonyoung's a little annoying about itâ you'll barely have explained your current predicament and he's already whining, "just break things off with him!" minghao, meanwhile, actually listens, but his expressions and consequent advice are brutal. he's always been no-bullshit when it comes to life, and so when he hears about all the things your boyfriend is doing/has done? he's actively advocating for you to get up and go. junhui's the type to take it out on your boyfriend. he's constantly threatening bodily harm and various other minor crimes against the poor guy, even though he doesn't really ever act on it. he is extra cold when he's in the other man's presence, to the point that your boyfriend may be under the impression that junhui hates him. (spoiler alert! jun does!) wonwoo isn't always vocal about his distaste; he's a little more backhanded/passive-aggressive about it. he's more of an actions guy, through and through. picking up the slack here and there to show you that your boyfriend is a dick for not doing things that your friends can. vernon also struggles a bit to get the right words out, so he just... says it as it is. he may look like he's packaging his advice as a joke, but he's 100% sincere when he sends you breakup playlists and reddit threads about ending things with your significant other. that's just his way of communicating it, really.
â "but are you okay?" â© seungcheol, joshua, mingyu, jihoon, seokmin, seungkwan.
for the most part, all the boys are the 'just-end-your-relationship-please' type, but there's also some who rely more on expression of concern. take mingyu, for example, whose chief endeavor will be to cheer you up. he'll leave sweet nothings and encouraging notes in hopes of lifting your mood; his eyes, constantly peeled to see how you're faring. you can rant in to the wee hours of the morning, and both seungkwan and joshua will listen. they'll let you tell the same old stories again and again; even if they half-joke that you just never listen to them, they're still there as a shoulder to cry on. seungkwan is more likely to give advice, while joshua's strength lies in non-judgmental indulgence. seokmin will make it his life's mission to distract you from the issue at hand. a movie night? a trip to an obscure café? if it will improve your mood in any way, shape, or form, he's already halfway there. he won't even mention your boyfriend, if you don't bring him up. seungcheol is similar to mingyu in the sense that he best expresses his concern through little encouraging gifts. he's not the type to push the envelope, to try and get you to talk when/if you're not ready, so he just communicates to you that he's there, when/if you need him. jihoon's also a bit unsure how to navigate a relationship that's not his. he can pick up how you're feeling, at the very least, and so he instead focuses on that. he's a quiet, steadfast presence who will take you to the gym or encourage you to write songs, if only because he thinks those might be potential solutions.
â "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" â© jeonghan, chan.
svt's petty line, how i love you so. they can all admittedly be petty when they want to be, but these two? they take the cake. jeonghan is a big believer in "show him what he's missing." he'll snap hot photos of you on your behalf. he'll let you use him as a nice little ploy to incite some jealousy. is it a little toxic, a bit red flag-y? sure, but that asshole is putting you through much worse. jeonghan's a firm believer that revenge is a dish best served cold, and he's cold to the bone when it comes to making sure you get what you deserve. (and that your boyfriend, too, has what's coming for him.) chan is insistent that you should break up with your boyfriend, of course, but he's a big believer that you should go out with a bang. it's a bit amusing, to see one of the group's more lowkey members insist that your boyfriend should be on the receiving end of a public lashing. some might say he just likes the drama. truthfully, he just wants to make it abundantly clear to everyone that you're not someone to be messed with, and that you're not going to settle for anything less now that you've kicked the devil's incarnate to the curb.

It's a Love Story - Chapter 5
Summary:
Azriel's shadows find their master a wife.
Azriel would just really like his heart not to get broken again.
And Sky...well, she's just really surprised that that far too handsome male is interested in her at all.
Warning:
Rhys Bashing (as usual), I classified this as Azriel x OC, even when it't technically Azriel x Sellyn Drake (but we kinda know nothing about Sellyn Drake other than that she writes books so Sky is kinda an OC), Cassian is kinda a good guy for once, Azriel has a horrible time, as usual... Stuttering, toxic families (For once I do not mean the IC), Self-Esteem Issues, Secret Identity, Body Image Issues, Fat Shaming, People being utterly horrible.
If any of this triggers you or makes you uncomfortable, please take care of your own mental health and don't read it.
âWhereâs Az?â Mor asked as Nesta and Cassian entered the dining room at the River House.
âBusy,â Cassian said with a shrug, as he pulled out the chair for his mate, greeting the rest of their family with a smile.Â
Mor cocked her head, a small frown appearing on her face. "Busy?" she repeated, a note of curiosity in her voice. "What's he up to?"
Busy. That had been Azrielâs answer to nearly everything after Koshei. Busy.
Even quieter than usual. Keeping away from all of themâŠand Cassian still heard that one sentence echo in his head. Better me than you. Like somehow Cassians life was worth more than Azrielâs.
Azriel was just being noble and self-sacrificing as usual, right? Cassian knew that his brother didn't really think that way, didn't really believe that his life was worth less than anyone else's. But still, the words haunted him. He couldn't shake the feeling that somehow, somewhere, he had let Azriel down. That he hadn't been there when his brother had needed him the most.
Maybe he should have tried to talk to him...when it all went down⊠but then he hadn't realised what exactly was even going on, until Nesta had flatly laid it out for him one evening. Azriel had gotten over Mor only to fall in love with Elain...and that hadn't ended in his favour either.
Cassian grimaced just thinking about it. Azriel deserved to be happy. Azriel deserved a mate that loved him, a female that fucking adored himâŠand instead his brother had fallen not just for one, but two unavailable females.Â
And Azriel hadnât complained. Not once. He had never let it show.
He always kept his emotions hidden under that stoic mask of his, like he was afraid of letting anyone see how much he was hurting. Cassian knew that Azriel would never ask for help, that he would never admit that he needed someone to talk to. But that didn't mean that he didn't need it.Â
Cassian just wished that he could find a way to get Azriel to open up, to let him inâŠthat wouldnât involve beating him to a bloody pulp.Â
Azriel acted like everything was fine. Azriel acted like he didn't care. Cassian knew that it was a mask, knew that it wasn't the truth...but Azriel liked to pretend it was...and maybe it was better to let him pretend.Â
It wasn't like he was hurting anybody with it, right? He was doing his work just as well as he always did...and if he wanted to spend his free time reading Sellyn Drake books, maybe they should just let him do thatâŠmaybe it made him feel better.Â
"Maybe he's seeing his secret girlfriend," Cassian drawled.
Mor snorted at that suggestion. "Please," she said with a roll of her eyes. "As if Azriel would ever have time for a girlfriend, let alone a secret one."
"You would be surprised," Cassian muttered under his breath. Apparently Azriel had time for reading Sellyn Drake novels while locked into his room, after all.Â
"What's that supposed to mean?" Mor wondered. "He has been...distant lately," she said with a pout.
Cassian could only stare at her. Mor couldn't be serious right now, could she?
Of course, Azriel was distant to her. Mor had fucking broken his heart and trampled on it to top it off. And Cassian had helped her with through the years. He probably owed Azriel an apology for that as well.
And still, Azriel hadnât complained. Azriel hadnât called them out. Azriel had taken it silently. Had even congratulated Mor when her Mating Bond with Emerie had snapped. Had been painfully polite, making painfully sure that he didnât cross any lines, didnât make Emerie uncomfortable in any way.Â
"Just leave him be," Cassian said with a shrug. "He's reading Sellyn Drake novels, he'll be fine,â he waved her off.Â
Rhys nearly spit his wine over the table and instead started coughing violently. "Azriel is reading Sellyn Drake novels?!" he asked Cassian with an incredious stare.
"Apparently he has trust in Nesta's taste of literature," Cassian answered easily.
Mor raised a skeptical eyebrow. "Sellyn Drake novels?" she repeated, eyeing Cassian like he had gone mad. "Since when does Azriel read those kinds of books? He's not exactly the...romantic type."
Or maybe there just never had been a single person that had appreciated that side of his brother. Who knew what Azriel actually was into.Â
Elain and Mor werenât similar in the slightest after all.Â
Cassian shrugged. "Maybe he's expanding his horizons," he said with a grin. "Or maybe he just wants to see what the fuss is all about. After all, Sellyn Drake is...surprisingly good. Or so I've heard, anyway." He gave a sidelong glance to Nesta, who simply rolled her eyes at him.
Still, out of the corner of his eye, he saw Rhys play absentmindedly with the stem of the wine glass. There was something there...between Rhys and Azriel that Cassian couldn't quite put his finger on. Some kind of tension...some kind of...something.
But lately, it had seemed like that tension had only been getting worse. Like they were both holding something back, like they were both waiting for the other shoe to drop. Cassian couldn't help wondering what would happen when that tension finally snapped.
***
"Winnowing or flying?" Azriel asked Sky as they stepped out into the icy early winter air.
"I...I can't...fly?" Sky answered haltingly, looking at him with these devastating blue eyes. They were beautiful. Not a light blue, not a teal, not bordering on violetâŠjust beautiful near cobalt blue. She probably would match his siphons, he reflected weakly.Â
"I'll fly, I'll carry you," he gave back with a chuckle. She stared at him like he was insane, her cheeks reddening.
"I...I...you...can...can't carry me. I am too...heavy," she mumbled. Now it was his turn to stare at her.
Azriel couldn't help but scoff at that. "Too heavy?" he repeated, shaking his head in disbelief. "I'm an Illyrian warrior,â he told her drily. âI could carry a full-grown male into battle if I had to,and I have dragged full-grown males off the battlefieldâŠI can carry you.âÂ
Azriel couldn't quite believe what he was hearing. Was she...was she seriously trying to tell him that she was too heavy for him to carry? She just so reached the middle of his chest! She definitely wasn't thin...her body was covered with soft flesh and lush curves, every inch of it soft and inviting...but even if she weighed twice her weight, he would easily be able to carry her. She would probably weigh next to nothing to him.
And yet, he could sense the insecurity in her voice, the way she didn't quite believe that he could carry her.
He stepped closer to her, placing his hand gently under her chin and tilting her head up so that she was looking directly into his eyes. "You are beautiful," he said softly, his voice full of warmth and sincerity. "And I don't care how much you weigh, I can carry you. I want to carry you. Because you are mine and I will always protect you, no matter what."
Her breath hitched at that, and he could see the warmth spreading through her cheeks as her heart began to race. She looked up at him with those stunning blue eyes of hers, her lips parted slightly in surprise and wonder. "You...you really mean that?" she whispered, her voice soft and shaky. "You...you don't mind how big I am?"
Azriel chuckled softly, shaking his head. "No, sweetheart, I don't mind," he said gently. "I think you are absolutely perfect just the way you are. And if I have to carry you to prove it, then that is what I will do." And without another word, he scooped her up into his arms, cradling her against his chest as easily.
She squeaked as they shot up in the sky and then she laughed, the sound bright and beautiful
They soared through the sky together, the wind blowing through their hair and clothes as they flew. The City of Starlight sprawled out beneath them, a beautiful tapestry of color and light. Azriel held her close, feeling the warmth of her body against his, the sound of her heartbeat pulsing in rhythm with his own. He knew that he could never tire of this feeling, of having her in his arms like this.
Sky looked up at him with a smile, her eyes shining with happiness and excitement. "I love this," she breathed.
How very fitting it was for the female that called herself Sky to love flying.
"Good," Azriel said softly, his voice full of warmth. "Because we can do this anytime you want, sweetheart."
They soared higher and higher, until the city below them was nothing but a sparkling sea of lights. Azriel was in his element up here, his wings powerful and graceful as they sliced through the air. He could feel the wind whipping through his hair, the cold night air stinging his skin. But he didn't mind, not with her in his arms. In fact, he felt more alive than he had in months. Years, even.
He flew a loping circle over Velaris, towards the Lake House the shadows had purchased and he thanked them mentally for their foresight. He couldn't very well bring Sky home to the House of Wind...but here...he could take her. It was private and safe...and if the expression of her face was anything to go by, she loved it.
He angled his body towards the Lake House, gliding towards it with expert precision. As they approached, Azriel saw the soft glow of the lights in the windows, the gentle sway of the curtains in the breeze. The lake glittered in the moonlight, the surface of the water undisturbed and serene. It was the perfect place to bring her, a place that he felt she would love just as much as he did.
"You live here?" she wondered, wonder in her voice as she took in the sight.
Azriel felt a warm swell of pride in his chest as he landed smoothly on the deck of the house. "Yes," he said simply, his eyes fixed on her face, watching as she marveled at the house. "I wanted a private place," he admitted. "Somewhere quiet and peaceful, where I could escape from the chaos of my life for a little while.I haven't been there long though, itâs still a work in progressâŠ" he warned her. More like 2 hours before he had met her. "But I love it."
He set her down gently, his hands lingering on her waist for a moment before he stepped back. "Come on," he said softly, holding out his hand to her. "Let me show you inside."
The shadows skittered inside as soon as he opened the door, like a bunch of little busybodies, rightening the curtains there, fluffing pillows on the couch...It seemed to amuse Sky though. "You must ne...never have to deal with a mes...messy kitchen," she teased him
Azriel chuckled at that. "No, the shadows don't like when things are out of place,â he admitted.
It wasn't a lie. But then he didn't like it either.Â
Like a moth pulled to the flame, Sky was pulled towards his bookcases, fingertips tripping over the spines as she hungrily read the titles.
Azriel suddenly hoped that the shadows had put something other than Sellyn Drake novels in the bookcase, because otherwise he was going to look like a fucking stalker.
He watched with a mix of amusement and apprehension as she examined the bookshelves, his heart pounding in his chest. *Please,* he silently pleaded to the shadows, *please tell me you didn't leave those Sellyn Drake novels on the shelf.* Because if she saw those, it would be disastrous.
The shadows seemed weirdly frozen in place.
"You read Sel...Sellyn Drake?" Sky asked him, sounding delighted and shocked at the same time.
Azriel groaned inwardly, feeling his face flush with embarrassment. "I...yes, I do," he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. "I...There is...I...I need to tell you something."
"Te...Tell me som...something?" Sky asked, turning towards him, these big beautiful eyes staring at him.
"I...It wasn't a coincidence that I was in that bar tonight," he told her, watching as she stared at him. "The shadows told me to go."
"The...The shad...shadows?" she asked him, looking utterly shocked.
"I...I told them...a few weeks ago...to...find me somebody that....that I could love...somebody that I could make happy. A wife," Azriel admitted. "You were the one they picked."
She stared at him, her mouth falling open slightly. Azriel braced himself for her reaction, not sure what to expect. Would she be angry? Scandalized? Horrified that he had sent his shadows to find him a wife?
She stared at him wide-eyed. "You...You asâŠasked yoâŠyour sha..shadows to fiâŠfind you a wiâŠwife?!" she asked him, repeating his words back at him.
He could feel his cheeks reddening but nodded nonetheless. "...are you angry?" he asked her weakly.
Sky stared at him for a moment, but then she shook her head. "No, No...no, I'm not," she repeated again, her voice trembling slightly. "I'm...I'm flatâŠflattered, actually...Though...though I am cu..curious what itâŠwhat it was about me that...madeâŠmade them pick me," she admitted.
For the first time in his life, his shadows talked to somebody other than Azriel. *We thought you would treat Master like you treat your cat,* the shadows told her brightly.
She blinked at the bunch of shadows that had gathered in front of her.
"You...You...You want me to...treat Az..Azriel like...like a cat?" she asked them incrediously.
Azriel spluttered, his cheeks burning with mortification. He hadn't expected the shadows to be so blunt, and the idea of her treating him like a cat was...well, it was absurd, to say the least. He wanted her to be his mate, his equal, not to treat him as if he were some kind of pet.
"No, no," he quickly interjected, trying to salvage the situation. "They...they don't mean it like that, Sky. The shadows have their own...unique way of looking at things. Please just...just forget they ever said that."
Sky fixed him with a look. "What do you mean?" she asked the shadows.
*You love your cat,* the shadows said quickly. *You buy him ridiculous overpriced Tuna, and you let him sleep in your bed and you scratch him behind the ears. You even knitted him a sweater!*
Azriel winced, feeling his embarrassment and mortification rising even further.Â
"That...thats not important," he mumbled, feeling like he was on the verge of spontaneously combusting from embarrassment. "The shadows...they have a habit of exaggerating things. Just...please, don't take them too seriously. I'm not expecting you to treat me like a cat, I swear."
Sky looked at him, then at the Shadows, then at Azriel again. She seemed to be lost in thought, clearly trying to decipher what the shadows meant.
"You..You want your masâŠmaster to be treâŠtreated...well?" Sky finally asked the shadows, her tone of voice serious. "You pickâŠpicked me because I...be..because I was nice to my cat?" she asked them curiously.
*You are so kind,* the shadows said softly. And so pretty. And we knew you would treat Master well and wouldn't judge him.*
Sky blushed at the compliment.
Azriel felt a sense of relief wash over him as the conversation shifted away from the whole "cat" thing. He had to admit, the shadows were right. Sky had been nothing but kind and considerate towards him since they met, and he was grateful for that. Still, he couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed by the whole situation.
"Look...I apologize for the shadows' behavior," he said to Sky, his voice soft. "They can be a bit...blunt, sometimes."
"IâŠI unâŠunderstand where they are comâŠcoming from," she said nearly thoughtfully. "They just...want to see you hapâŠhappy?" she said carefully and he nodded.
"Yes."
"Though theyâŠthey don't seem to have much of a sense of bounâŠboundaries," Sky said with a laugh. "You hid in my apartment didn't you?" she asked the shadows.
Azriel cringed as the shadows seemed to twirl in agreement. He had hoped that particular detail would have gone unnoticed, but he should have known better. Sky was too observant for her own good.
"Yes, they did," he admitted reluctantly. "I'm sorry about that. They...they have a tendency to go where they please."
Sky still mustered the shadows that were twitching in front of her
"IâŠI promâŠpromise to tâŠtreat your maâŠmaster well." Sky said seriously. "He's my mate."
Azriel felt his heart skip a beat at her words. The sound of that word coming from her lips made his knees weak.
He stepped forward, closing the distance between them and taking her hands in his. "And I promise to treat you well too," he swore fervently.Â
"And I'llâŠIâll even knit him a sweaâŠsweater," Sky continued, looking at the shadows.. "IâŠI don't know if he likes TuâŠtuna, but I'llâŠbuy him some⊠sweets."
He couldnât help but laugh at her words, feeling a surge of affection for her that was almost overwhelming. "Sky," he said softly, looking into her eyes. "You don't have to do any of that for me. Just being with you is more than I could ever ask for.But...if you are willing to knit me a sweater, I surely won't say no to it," he added with a laugh. "And maybe you could try scratching me behind the ears too, just in case the shadows are right."
He meant it as a joke, but there was a part of him that was secretly delighted by the idea of her spoiling and doting on him. Maybe, just maybe, the shadows were onto something after all.
"And...who knows, maybe I'll develop a taste for Tuna," he added, grinning playfully. "As long as it's the fancy kind, that is."
He kissed her forehead gently, holding her close for a moment longer before finally pulling away. "But SkyâŠyou donât have to do all of thatâŠJust being with you is enough."
She smiled up at him, beautiful and blinding and he couldn't help but kiss her.
As his lips met hers, Azriel felt a wave of warmth and tenderness wash over him. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close as he deepened the kiss. In that moment, nothing else mattered. Not the shadows, not the world outside, nothing but her.
He broke the kiss reluctantly, resting his forehead against hers as he caught his breath.Â
"YouâŠYou can absolutely sleep in my bed with me," she whispered. "Or I'll sleep in yours," she offered, a grin on her face... and that was all he needed to hear, as he picked her up again.

reblogging comment review from @zyafics
im STUDYINGGGG AGAIN hahaha and i decided to read âŹïž
You were pregnant.How could this happen? How the fuck could this happen?
so u see⊠thereâs this bird and this beeâŠ
You weren't going to cry. You couldnât. Not because you didnât want to, but because you physically couldnât. Not with your makeup done so carefully. Your eyes were lined so meticulously, your foundation blended like a dream, your lips painted in that bold red everyone said you pulled off effortlessly. You couldnât afford to let your mascara run. He wasnât worth it.
why r u lowkey funny đ girly is going through it but she canât cry bc she needs to keep her makeup intact is hilarious to me
Ruthie? That girl was giving everyone her signature snake sneer. Of course she was. The bitch had this superpower of sensing everyone's business before they even knew it themselves.
WHAT IF RUTHIE KNOWS
That would be so him, though.
oh my god
You did out without even thinking, grabbing Topperâs ear between two manicured fingers like you were his mom dragging him out of Sunday school, pulling him away.
like i said sheâs FUNNNYYYY
But why did it hurt? Perhaps a small part of you wanted him to show upâjust to see you, just to care. The other part, however, didnât. You didnât want him anywhere near you, or this⊠this thing inside you.
okokokok i love that she's hypocritical because all her motives makes sense and the sense of flow is so perfectly-paced it makes me wanna scream
They were trying to get you to admit you didnât invite him. Well, theyâd have to try harder. Youâd been swimming around sharks since you were born, no one was going to fuck you over so easily.
Then, in the corner of your eye, you saw him.Rafe.Â
a GUN
You stood taller, and forced a smile, but as you started to step down from the stage, you felt it.
THIS BITCH
âCan we justââ he was practically jogging after you, his voice strained. âCan we talk like fucking adults?â
im actually shaking
He ran a hand through his buzzed hair, the same agitated motion youâd seen a thousand times as if he was trying to smooth out the mess in his head.
this motion is so him too
He wasnât apologizing for ghosting you. He wasnât apologizing for her.Â
WHAT IF SHE TOLD HIM TO APOLOGIZE
He stepped closer, looming over you now, his lips curling into that sneer. âIâm trying to give you a chance to be friendsââGive you? Like you were some charity case to him? As if you should be thankful.
i would be literally committing mass murders rn
You told him the truth and now it had become the scar he wouldnât stop picking at. He was hurt. And he was angry, because youâd finally told him the truth about his dad, and it shattered that fake picture he had in his head.Â
literally get a grip
âYou donât get to talk about him like that,â he growled, stepping forward. âThatâs why we broke up. Because you donât fucking get it.â
bro idolizes his dad wayyy too much
You shook your head, âNo, we broke up because you didnât like me telling the truth. Your dad was a piece of shit, and you know it.â
i love her so much
Rafe pulled at the back of his neck again, looking like he mightâve ground his teeth to dust. âOh, I get it now,â he says, his voice thick with condescension. âYouâre jealous.â
there would be nothing but god stopping me from murdering this man
âJealous?â you repeated, in disbelief. âOf your little pogue girlfriend? Please, fucking spare me. You want me to throw a penny at her?â
sheâs so bitchy i love her
He stepped closer, his breath quickening. "Sheâs real, okay? Sheâs not some polished barbie pretending in front of everyone, just to fall apart behind closed doors."
TOPPER HAND ME A GLOCK
"Real huh?" You scoffed, the bitterness in your chest taking over. "Is that what you call it? Someone who doesnât know the difference between caviar and fucking canned tuna? Thatâs the 'real' youâve been slumming it with?"
she's actually so real
"Is that a joke? You spend so much time trying to be your father, youâve lost yourself. Do you think I donât see it? Youâre so fucking empty without his approval,â Your voice dipped lower, âYouâre so pathetic itâs almost sad."
TELL HIM GIRLY POP
He said it so casually, so carelessly, as if it hadnât ripped you apart. It was the wayïżœïżœhe said it, with that hint of affection, like she was this delicate, shiny little thing he was protecting, and youâyouâwere just a threat he had to deal with.
he likes SOFIA makes me wanna scream
"I'll drag the fucking Pope into this if I have to.â
i read this as pope heyward and went LEAVE MY MAN POPE OUT OF THIS
Once again, you pondered telling her everythingâabout breaking down and spilling every ugly detail. But that would make it real.
i wish she DID OHMYGOD
đ â the visceral anger i feel for rafe right now makes me wanna register for a gun. also also, their fight that cuts so deep because they know each other so well is done to PERFECTION and not only that, i LOVE LOVE LOVE how you can follow reader's train of thoughtsâso even if she's hypocritical in her response, it makes perfect sense. lastly, rafe has the fucking audacity i would've slapped him so hard he would've saw his dad ok done
LOVED YOU AT YOUR WORST - r.c series - THREE
pairings: ex!sweethearts; rafe x thornton!reader; rafe x Sofia. chapter warnings: mentions of pregnancy, of abortion, health risks & death.
Two lines.
Two bold, definitive lines.
You blinked. Once, twice, but it didnât change. It wasnât going away.Â
Two lines, clear as fucking day, staring back at you like they were taunting you.
The universe was laughing right in your face. You felt everything plummet to the very bottom of the earthâthe room, the floor, your stomachâit all just plummeted, like youâd been pushed off a cliff with no warning.
The test fell from your grip, clattering onto the marble countertop, but you didnât care. You backed away from it like it was something radioactive, something dangerous that could destroy you if you got too close. But it already had, hadnât it?
You were pregnant.How could this happen? How the fuck could this happen?
You knew how, obviously. You werenât that dumb. All you could see in your head was Rafeâs stupid fucking face. His name alone made you want to punch something, preferably his balls.Â
You were pregnant? With his kid? You were so careful with your life, with your image.Â
You could feel the resentment rise in your throat again, the taste of acid making you want to scream. He didnât get to do this to you. He couldnât ruin your life twice, fuck you up this bad and then just leave. You wanted to hate him. You did hate him. You hated it. And worse, you hated yourself.
There you were, stuck with this. Alone with a baby you didnât even want to think about. The thought of it growing inside youâof carrying some piece of him, some reminder of everything he put you through these past two monthsâit was loathsome. He wasnât part of this, not anymore. And you werenât that girlâyou didnât want to be. You werenât the one who begged for him to care, who waited around for him to come to his senses, who made excuses.
You werenât going to ruin all that hard work over him again. No way.
You pressed a tissue to your eyesânot to cry, but to catch the stray moisture that threatened to ruin your eyelinerâand took a deep breath. You smoothed your dress, and made sure everything was in place.Â
You didnât have time to figure it out, or wallow, or throw shit around. You straightened your back, lifted your chin, and forced yourself to feel nothing.Â
Not the panic, not the nausea, not the rage. Nothing.Â
You could push it all down, shove it into that deep hellish place in your guts where you put everything else. Later, maybe youâd have to let it out. Â
Just as you were spiraling deeper into the pit, there was a knock on the door. Loud. It made you jump, pulling you out of your head for just a second.
âHey!â It was Lily, her voice bright, oblivious. âItâs time. We need you out there. Youâve got like three minutes.â
Right. You wanted to laugh at how ridiculous this was.
You stepped out of the room, every movement rehearsed, the smile expertly placed on your lips. You were a master at thisâfaking it, pretending like nothing in the world could touch you.  Not after seeing those two fucking lines.
Your heels clicked on the floor as you walked through the hallway, down the steps, and into the ballroom. It was filled with kooks being kooks. Fake smiles, fake compliments, fake friendships. You werenât even listening to a word anyone said to you.
âHi, darling, you look stunning as always,â someone said, leaning in to kiss you on the cheek. You smiled, said thank you, maybe even added a you too, but you couldnât hear yourself. Your body knew exactly what to do at these things.Â
Pretend like you gave a shit.
âYour dad would be so proud,â another woman gushed, and you wanted to throw up. You laughed.Â
If he knew what was happening. Pregnant? By a man who didnât put a ring on your finger?
And there they were, of courseâTopper, Kelce and Ruthie, standing in the middle of it all, grinning like idiots. Well, Topper grinning like an idiot.
Ruthie? That girl was giving everyone her signature snake sneer. Of course she was. The bitch had this superpower of sensing everyone's business before they even knew it themselves.
A waiter passed by with a tray of champagne flutes, and you reached out instinctively, but the waiter, somehow, just missed you. The tray floated right past, and before you could even realize the fact that you didnât have a drink in your hand, her eyes were on you.
âOh, you're not drinking?â she asked, voice dripping with fake concern. Her eyes flickered, like she knew something, and you swear to god, your eyelid twitched.
âNot yet,â you replied with the same faux smile.
Ruthie just kept watching you with those too-knowing eyes, like she was looking for a crack, some little tell. Because she always did.
You had to be so careful around her.
One wrong move, one second, and sheâd be all over it, spreading it around the entire town before you even had a chance to breathe.
Your cousin, completely oblivious, was babbling with Kelce about somethingâprobably golf, or the new boat his dad bought, or some other thing you couldnât care less about. You nodded along, pretending to listen, but you were mentally still in the bathroom, staring at those two lines.
âSo, you invited Rafe?â Kelce said it like it was nothing, like bringing up your ex-boyfriend was the most casual thing in the world.
âWhat the actual fuck did you just say?â You all but growled out, enough to make him choke on his champagne.
He looked genuinely confused, as if he didnât just mention the one person youâd rather hurl off a bridge at the moment. âYeah, Rafe. Heâs on the list, right?â
Your whole body went rigid. You blinked, trying to keep your face from giving anything away, but inside? You were dying. Ruthieâs eyebrows shot upâoh great, now you had her attention too.
âYouâve got to be kidding me.â
Kelce, of course, had the nerve to chuckle.Â
If Rafe had spoken to them about being taken off the guest list, youâd lose it. The insolence of him mentioning your nameâlike he still had any right to talk about you? He shouldâve buried the memory of you right along with whatever feelings he claimed to have had.
But then, if he hadnât said a word about it to his best friendsâthat meant something worse. That meant he didnât care. He was over it. Over you.Â
He hadnât even bothered to tell them that he wasnât coming to the gala because he wasnât thinking about it. Or about you.Â
You hated either possibility.Â
Kelce like the asshole he was, "I thought you two wereâ"
"Don't." You cut him off so fast, so hard, he had to take a step back.Â
You wanted to grab Top by his clueless shoulders and demand answers. Did Rafe care? Was he coming tonight? You didnât like any optionâevery scenario made you want to get on a plane to the other side of the world.  If he was planning to show up despite being cut from the listâŠShit, what would you even do? You could feel the headache starting already.Â
That would be so him, though.
The arrogance. The entitlement, ignoring boundaries because he never thought the rules applied to him.
Ruthie, of course, was still watching you like a hawk. Her eyes darted between you and Topper, and you could practically feel her mind working, trying to piece together whatever she thought she was seeing. She loved this. She lived for other peopleâs drama, and you knew sheâd sniff out anything that didnât look flawless.
You did out without even thinking, grabbing Topperâs ear between two manicured fingers like you were his mom dragging him out of Sunday school, pulling him away.
"Ow, Jesusâwhat the hell?!" he yelped, stumbling to keep up with you in his shiny loafers as you all but hauled him into the nearest corner of the ballroom, out of sight, but still within earshot of the crowd.Â
You didnât care. Let someone see. Let them all see.
You turned to him, barely letting go of his ear, your nails tapping impatiently against your crossed arms. He looked at you like youâd lost your mind, and maybe you had.
âSpill it.â
He was still rubbing his ear. âWhat are you talking about?â
âRafe,â you snapped, eyes narrowing. âIs he coming tonight? And donât you dare lie to me, Top.â
He gulped. Actually gulped. You swore you could see the gears turning in that pretty, empty head of his, trying to figure out if he could weasel his way out of this.
âIâ I donât know, okay?â Topper stammered, running a hand through his hair. âI havenât talked to him today, but I figured⊠I mean, he always comes to these things, so I assumedâ"
That meant Rafe didnât tell him. That your little stunt hadnât phased him in the slightest.Â
âYou assumed?â You leaned in closer, eyes burning holes into his skull. âAfter everything, you thought it was a good idea to just assume heâd show up and not even bother telling me?â
âI canât put him on a leash!â His voice rose defensively, eyes wide like he was the one under attack. And yeah, maybe he was. Maybe youâd gone full psycho mode. Rafe always turned you into thisâthis furious, spiraling, out-of-control version of yourself.
Your cousin was just collateral damage.
âMaybe thatâs the problem. Maybe someone should.â  You said it slowly like you were explaining something to a child. âDo you even know what itâs like?â you hissed, leaning in closer, your voice dropping , âTo sit here, wondering if heâs gonna show up like some ticking time bomb?â
Topperâs mouth opened, but nothing came out.
He didnât know shit about what you were going through. How could he? He wasnât the one with a whole life-changing secret burning a hole in his brain, wondering if the father of the child growing inside him was going to ruin everythingâagain.
âIâI didnât think it was that serious,â Topper stammered, hands flying up in surrender. âI mean, heâs always been a dick, butââ
You remember the first thing he texted you after weeks of radio silence.
âNo,â you interrupted, âHeâs more than just a dick. Heâsââ You stopped yourself before you said too much. God, you were on the edge, and you needed to rein it in.Â
Topper, still looking like a kicked puppy, shifted on his feet.Â
âLook, Iâll text him. Iâll ask if heâs coming or not, okay?â He pulled out his phone, typing something quickly. You watched him, arms crossed, tapping your foot against the marble floor like your life depended on it.  If you saw his faceâhis stupid, beautiful, infuriating faceâyou didnât know what youâd do.Â
Punch him? Scream? Run? The thought of him being here, so close, when you hadnât even processed what was happening to youâŠ
âOkay, he saysââ He paused, squinting at his screen, âheâs not coming.â
The relief. You let out a breath you didnât even know you were holding, shoulders sagging for just a second before you caught yourself. Heâs not coming.
But why did it hurt? Perhaps a small part of you wanted him to show upâjust to see you, just to care. The other part, however, didnât. You didnât want him anywhere near you, or this... this thing inside you.
âSee?â Topper said, holding up his phone like it was some peace offering. âHeâs not coming. Crisis averted.â He gave you this awkward, nervous smile, like he thought you might hit him again.
You forced a laugh, even though nothing about this was funny.
âGreat. Awesome. Perfect,â you said through gritted teeth simultaneously smoothing your dress, and pushing your hair back over your shoulder, âThanks, Top. Really. Youâre a real lifesaver.â
He looked at you like he wasnât sure if you were being sarcastic or not, but you didnât care. The moment was over. Youâd survived.Â
You rolled your eyes as you turned away heading back toward your original group. Of course, Ruthie was still standing there her arms crossed, that smug little smirk on her face. Sheâd been watching the whole thing, no doubt about it.Â
You could feel her nosy ass dissecting every single move you made.Â
âHeâs not here yet,â she hummed, her eyes narrowing just enough to piss you off. âWeird, right? Maybe heâs busy with Sofia.â
Of course, she brought up that fucking name.Â
She was sniffing out blood in the water, as if she wasnât just another Sarah Cameron knock-off. You could already picture itâthe headlines, the whispers spreading through the audience, everyone talking about you. The legacy who ruined her own gala.
Kelce snorted, not even bothering to hide his amusement, because of course he thought this was all a joke. He never got it. None of them did.
You wished, for just a second, that you werenât born into this pristine, high-society life. You felt so smothered by these expectations. If you were anyone else, if you werenât some debutante raised on champagne and etiquette, youâd have punched her right there. Youâd have knocked her straight to the floor and wiped that pretentious smile off her face with blood in front of every stuck-up rich asshole in the room.Â
âI didnât realize we were talking about her,â you said, voice like sugar, even though you knew Ruthie could sense the underlying warning in it,âBut thanks, Ruthie, for always keeping me updated on things that donât concern you.â
Her eyes narrowed, but she didnât back down yet.
âJust making conversation. I mean, it is weird that he hasnât shown up yet, right? Considering how close you two used to be. Iâm sure itâs nothing, though.â
Kelce, that asshole, leaned in, "Come on, don't act like youâre over it." His eyes glanced down to your hand. "Youâre shaking."
You were. You hadnât even noticed.
But instead of acknowledging it, you shot him a look that could've killed. "Fuck off, Kelce."
They were trying to get you to admit you didnât invite him. Well, theyâd have to try harder. Youâd been swimming around sharks since you were born, no one was going to fuck you over so easily.
âUh-huh,â Ruthie said, not buying a word of it. Her eyes flicked between you and Topper, and you knew what she was doing. She was fishing. âYou sure about that? You were giving him a look.â
You glanced at your cousin, who was still rubbing his ear like a toddler. âJust sorting out some... logistics for the gala,â you said, voice saccharine, but it felt like chewing on glass. âItâs nothing. Really.â
She arched a brow, her lips curling up in a knowing grin. She knew something was off. She always did. âRight,â she said slowly, drawing the word out like she was savoring it. âBecause for a second there, it looked like you were about to explode.â
She was monitoring you so closely, you could feel it crawling up your skin.
âYou know,â she sighed, like she cared. âIf somethingâs going on you can tell me. I wonât say a word.â
That was rich. Ruthie, keeping a secret? Youâd sooner trust a thief with your jewelry. âIâm sure you wouldnât,â you said, not keeping the sarcasm out of your voice. âBut trust me, thereâs nothing to tell.â
Ruthieâs pursed her lips, annoyed that she hadnât managed to dig anything up, âAre youââ
You were two seconds away from shoving her into the nearest fountain. But instead, you took a deep breath, âYou should worry less about me,â you advised her, âand more about that atrocious dress youâre wearing.â
The smile fell off her face so fast, it was glorious.
You didnât wait for her to recover. You turned on your heel, and grabbed Topper by the arm.
As soon as you were far enough away, he let out a breath heâd been holding. âJesus, I thought you were gonna deck her.â
You grinned, but there was no warmth in it. âI still might.â
He sighed, âSheâs still my girlfriend.â
âYeah, downgrading seems like a thing for you boys.â
Like a guardian angel sent from above, Lily appeared, stepping between you two with a concerned expression.
âHey, hey,â she interrupted, glancing between you, âWhat was that about?â
You could see the caution in her eyes. She wasnât stupidâLily knew things between you and Rafe had been rocky, and sheâd probably been sensing the tension the entire night. But right now, she was doing her best to defuse the earlier situation before it got any worse.
âNothinâ, just Ruthie being herself,â You dismissed, as you grabbed onto her forearm, âLetâs go.â
Lily blinked, startled by your urgency, but she didnât argue. âYeah, we should head backstage, the speech is coming up.â
âBye Top. Stay the fuck away from the chocolate fountain.â
You could hear him whine in the back, âI did that shit once!â
Lily pulled you along through the ballroom, her arm linked with yours, quickening her pace to keep up with you as you nearly bolted toward the back of the venue. âAre you sure youâre okay?â
âYeah,â you bit out, though your voice didnât even convince you. âIâm fine. I just need to get this speech over with.â
âUh-huh,â She replied, clearly not convinced, but smart enough to drop it for now. âYou got it, donât worry.â
Finally, you made it to the side entrance that led backstage. The thick drapes and low lighting created a shield, giving you a small moment of privacy before the world demanded your attention again.Â
Lily stood next to you, gently touching your arm, âYou donât have to do this if youâre not ready. We can stall, orââ
âI have to,â you stopped her, rubbing a hand over your face, âI canâtââ You didnât finish your sentence because you didnât know how to say it. You had no choice.
Lilyâs fingers squeezed your arm a little tighter. âOkay,â she said quietly, nodding. âBut Iâm here if you need me.â
You forced a smile, one that didnât reach your eyes. âThanks,â you whispered, even though the words felt hollow in your mouth.
You appreciated her being here, really, but she was blissfully unaware of the pregnancy test in the trash can.Â
Taking a deep breath, you adjusted your posture, straightened your dress, and ran a hand through your hair, reminding yourself that youâd been here before. Youâd stood on that stage so many times.
This wasnât new. You just had to get through it.Â
One more speech. One more night. You glanced at Lily, gave her a quick nod, and stepped through the final curtain. Back into the spotlight. Back into the role youâd perfected so wellâput together, poised, untouchable.
The low murmur of the gathering hummed in your ears, growing louder with every second. You werenât ready. You were never going to be ready.
You just needed to remember how to breathe.
The speech was printed and sitting in your hands, it felt like dead weight. You hadnât even read through it since youâd finished it hours ago, and now, the thought of standing in front of all those people, pretending to have it togetherâit felt impossible.
Then, in the corner of your eye, you saw him.
Rafe.Â
He said he wasnât coming. Topper said he wasnât coming. But there he was, standing there, watching you just like he always had.Â
You hadnât even meant to look. You didnât do it on purpose, perhaps it was muscle memory, always searching for him. He was standing in the same spot he usually took. Like nothing had changed.
As if he hadnât ripped you apart.
You tried to focus, but your heart was racing, thundering in your ears.Â
How dare he? How fucking dare he? Instantly you were back there, that messy, intoxicating space you swore youâd never return to. The one where he controlled the air you breathed. He looked so good. Too good, really. He was wearing a crisp navy suit that hugged his frame perfectly, hair buzzed again.Â
You shouldâve guessed heâd find a way back here, even after everything.Â
âAre you ready?â Lily whispered beside you, her voice pulling you back from the brink of a breakdown.Â
âYeah.â
Your heart raced as you forced yourself to look back at Rafe.
He wasnât smiling. He wasnât even pretending to look interested. He just stood there, his eyes locked on you, unreadable, unfathomable.
He was still watching you. It felt like could see through your polished exterior. He probably did. He knew you better than anyone else. You wondered what he sawâthe confident girl who had always pulled off these events with ease or the terrified woman who was about to pass out from the pressure.
Then, heâs lips lifted slightly. That infuriating, devil-may-care almost there smirk that had made your heart stutter long before everything went to hell. It reminded you of nights spent tangled in sheets, whispers pressed against your skin under the cover of darkness, moments that felt like they belonged in a dream.
You wanted to throw the speech away and storm off the stage, leaving this whole night behind.
Instead, you cleared your throat and gripped the edges of the podium, the cool wood bringing you back to the world.Â
The words were on the paper in front of you, but you didnât need to look at them. You knew the speech by heart every year.  Youâd written it yourself, after allâcrafted it with care, knowing exactly what people needed to hear to make their checks bigger, to keep your fatherâs legacy alive.
It was just a matter of saying it without breaking.
A deep breath, and then you began.
âGood evening, everyone. Thank you so much for being here tonight.â
Your voice sounded better than what you felt, and you leaned into that, letting it carry you through the first few lines.
âWe gather here every year for the same reasonâto celebrate the incredible work this foundation does, and to honor the legacy of those who came before us. This foundation isnât just a charity; itâs a tribute. A way to remember those weâve lost and to carry their dreams forward. Itâs about giving back to a community that gave so much to us.â
You paused, just for a moment, glancing down at the speech in your hands, feeling the overwhelming crush of what youâre about to say next.
âFor me, this has always been personal.â Your voice softened as you continued, âMost of you are aware I lost my family a few years ago. My father started this foundation. His vision was always to make sure that no one was left behind, that we take care of our own. My mother helped build it. And my sisterâŠâ You hesitated, remembering how faultless sheâd been, âShe was always the heart of it.â
The room was utterly still now, everyone listening intently.Â
âTonight, as I stand here, I canât help but think about how proud they would be of what weâve accomplished. At least, I hope theyâd be proud.â
You allowed yourself a small, bittersweet smile.
âMy dad wouldâve been in his element, making sure everything was spotless. And my mom, well, sheâd probably tell me that the curtains were horrid and needed to be replaced immediately.â
The crowd gave a light laugh, the tension in the room dissipating just a little. You smiled, a real one this time, for the first time in weeks, picturing your mother in her no-nonsense way, criticizing every decoration like it was the most important thing in the world.
âI miss them every day,â you added, âAnd Iâm certain Iâm not the only one in this room whoâs experienced that kind of loss. It changes you. But it also reminds you to live in a way that makes them proud. And thatâs what tonight is about, continuing their work, continuing their legacy, and making sure we do right by them.â
Your grip on the podium loosened, and you looked up, making eye contact with the audience.Â
âSo, to everyone here tonightâthank you. Thank you for believing in this cause. Thank you for your generosity, your support, and your kindness. And thank you for helping me keep their memory alive.â
With that, you stepped back from the podium, the applause swelling around you, but all you could hear was the sound of your heart breaking.
It was over. You did it.
Automatically, your eyes flickered up toward the back corner, the spot where Rafe was standing. You never needed to look before; youâd always just known heâd be there. It was his silent promise to you since you were sixteen. Every gala, every speechâno matter what happened between the two of youâhe was there.
But he wasnât there anymore. The space was empty. Â
This was what you wanted, you didnât need him anymore. You were going to get through this on your own. It was the first time he wasnât there to catch you like heâd always been.
You stood taller, and forced a smile, but as you started to step down from the stage, you felt it.
That stupid fucking warmth.Â
His hand found your elbow as you and every nerve in your body screamed bloody murder. The applause was still buzzing in your ears, cameras flashingânone of it registered.
All you saw was him.
Three seconds. That was how close you were to snapping. Who the fuck let him in?
You yanked your arm away, the touch burning your skin like it was staining you. You didnât say a wordâjust turned and headed straight for the back exit.
Behind you, you heard his footsteps.
Of course, he never knew when to stop, when to let you breathe.
âCan we justââ he was practically jogging after you, his voice strained. âCan we talk like fucking adults?â
You were already halfway down the hall, pulling off your earrings as you stormed toward your suite.
The fucking sheer audacity of this man. You couldnât even process itâhow he could stand there, with his fake-ass calm tone, chasing after you like you were the one being unreasonable.
You threw open the door to the suite you got ready in, the one that was supposed to be your sanctuary for the night and stepped inside, not bothering to close it behind you; you knew he was going to follow you in any way.
He was relentless like that.
You tossed the earrings onto the vanity and glanced up to see he was right behind you now, lingering in the doorway, as if unsure of how much further he could push before you exploded.
He looked at you like he was the victim in all this.
âCan you at least listen to me for a second?â It sounded like he was forcing himself to stay calm.
But that bite was so Rafe.
You spun around, your breath coming out harsh.
âListen to you? Listen to you? Youâve got to be out of your fucking mind.â
He opened his mouth to say something, but you were already pulling off your heels, the sharp tug at the straps doing nothing to calm your frustration.
He stood there, his eyes on you, but you couldnât even bring yourself to look at him for more than a second without feeling the betrayal flooding your chest.
Rafe was rubbing the back of his neck in that agitated way he did when he was frustrated. âI came here because I didnât want to leave things like that. I thought we could be civilââ
âCivil?â You nearly laughed, âYou seriously think you can walk in here and be civil after everything?â
His eyes narrowed just a fraction. He moved on his feet, stepping further into the room, and you saw itâthe way he rolled his shoulders like he was already preparing himself for a fight.  âI came to apologize.â
He ran a hand through his buzzed hair, the same agitated motion youâd seen a thousand times as if he was trying to smooth out the mess in his head.
Your hands stopped mid-motion, your necklace halfway off. You looked at him like heâd lost his mind. "Apologize for what, exactly?"Â
âFor calling you dramatic.â He exhaled like he was doing something noble by saying it. As if he was doing you a favor. âFor that text. I was drunk, didnât mean it.â
He wasnât apologizing for ghosting you. He wasnât apologizing for her.Â
You stared at him, completely floored. He was serious, he thought this was some kind of peace offering. The fact that he thought an apology for that would fix anything? Insane.
âYou think this is about that?â You cackled, chucking one shoe to the side, not caring where it landed, and the other followed right after. âOh my god, Rafe, you are so fucking clueless.â
His expression changed then, brows furrowed, âIâm trying to make things right,â he mutters. âI donât want you out of my life, okay?â
You threw the necklace somewhere on the ground, your patience gone. âYou were the one who pushed me away. You donât get to waltz in here and act like we can just fix things because you finally feel bad about it.â
He stepped closer, looming over you now, his lips curling into that sneer. âIâm trying to give you a chance to be friendsââ
Give you? Like you were some charity case to him? As if you should be thankful.
âI donât want to be your friend!â You growled in his face, stepping forward and jabbing your finger into his chest, âIâd rather set myself on fire than be your friend, so you can take that chance and shove it up your ass.â
His hand came up to run along his head again, and you saw the way his fingers curled into his scalp like he was trying not to give in to his impulsive thoughts. His breathing was heavier now, too, chest rising and falling quickly. Â
âWhy are you being so difficult?â he snapped, and there it wasâthe familiar, accusatory edge in his voice. âAfter what you said about my dadââ
The reason.
The thing that broke you two this time, the thing heâd been holding over your head. You saw the hurt in his eyes, the one thing he hadnât let go of.
You told him the truth and now it had become the scar he wouldnât stop picking at. He was hurt. And he was angry, because youâd finally told him the truth about his dad, and it shattered that fake picture he had in his head.Â
âYouâre gonna bring that up right now?â Your voice was so quiet it nearly scared you. âAfter all the shit youâve put me through, thatâs what youâre mad about?â
âYou donât get to talk about him like that,â he growled, stepping forward. âThatâs why we broke up. Because you donât fucking get it.â
But Sofia did, right?Â
That was fucking hilarious. She didnât grow up listening to Wardâs bullshit. Didnât see the kind of things heâd say or did to his oldest child.Â
Of course, she would take his side. She didnât know better.Â
You shook your head, âNo, we broke up because you didnât like me telling the truth. Your dad was a piece of shit, and you know it.â
For a moment, the air went deadly still between you. You could sense his hurt, the way it sneaked between every bitter word.
Then, he did itâthe thing you knew he would, that thing that made your blood boil.Â
Rafe pulled at the back of his neck again, looking like he mightâve ground his teeth to dust. âOh, I get it now,â he says, his voice thick with condescension. âYouâre jealous.â
Your whole body went borderline rigid, like a door, locked in place.
He was standing there, offering you friendship like a pity prize, calling you jealous when you were standing there broken, trying not to fall apart because of him.
âJealous?â you repeated, in disbelief. âOf your little pogue girlfriend? Please, fucking spare me. You want me to throw a penny at her?â
He stepped closer, his breath quickening. "Sheâs real, okay? Sheâs not some polished barbie pretending in front of everyone, just to fall apart behind closed doors."
Ouch. But you could do worse.Â
"Real huh?" You scoffed, the bitterness in your chest taking over. "Is that what you call it? Someone who doesnât know the difference between caviar and fucking canned tuna? Thatâs the 'real' youâve been slumming it with?"
"At least she doesnât care about any of this," he snapped, gesturing to the glittering gala that surrounded you both. "Sheâs not obsessed with keeping up appearances.â
A cold laugh escaped your lips. He mustâve forgotten to look in the mirror today.
"God, youâre so delusional. Do you think I wanted any of this?â You shot him a look that could cut through steel. "Iâm not the one faking it. You are. You are still so desperate for Daddyâs approval that you canât even see what a fucking mess you are."
Rafe's hands flexed at his sides, his fingers twitching. His nostrils flared, and he tilted his head to the side, running his tongue over his teeth like he always did when he was trying to stay calm.â
"Iâm not afraid of who I am," His lips barely moved as he spoke, rolling his shoulders back again, standing to his full height. "You spend so much time trying to be perfect, you donât even know who you are anymore."
He leaned in closer, his breath hot against your skin, like a predator sizing you up, his eyes locked on yours. You could see his jaw clench, his chest rising and falling with every shallow breath as he tried to keep his composure.
You took a step closer, your chest brushing against his, your heart pounding so hard you could hear it in your ears. His gaze flicked downward, scanning your face.
"Is that a joke? You spend so much time trying to be your father, youâve lost yourself. Do you think I donât see it? Youâre so fucking empty without his approval,â Your voice dipped lower, âYouâre so pathetic itâs almost sad."
He clenched his jaw again, his fingers curling into fists at his sides. He took a sharp breath through his nose, staring you down with a look that was all Rafeâvolatile, unreadable, on the edge of breaking.
Right then and there, Lily burst into the room, her wide eyes taking in the scene like a bomb had just gone off.
"Okay! What is going on in here?" she demanded, her voice sharp but layered with concern. âI could hear you two in the hallway. If something happened, this is not the place to deal with it.â
 âYou wanna know what happened, Lily?â you started, almost laughing with disbelief. âThis motherfucker started seeing someone behind my back. Two monthsâtwo fucking monthsâwith no real closure, no answers. And heâs off fucking some pogue.â
âItâs not like that,â He scoffed, pointing a finger in your direction as he took a few steps back, "Don't drag Sofia into this.â
His posture screamed defensiveness, and all you could think was how much you hated the way he said her name. It made you want to throw up, it felt like someone was taking a rusty nail and dragging it down your spine.Â
He said it so casually, so carelessly, as if it hadnât ripped you apart. It was the way he said it, with that hint of affection, like she was this delicate, shiny little thing he was protecting, and youâyouâwere just a threat he had to deal with.
"I'll drag the fucking Pope into this if I have to.â
You were the one who had been there through all his bullshit, you were the one who held him together when everything in his life was falling apart. Now, suddenly, she was the one he spoke about softly. Like she mattered.
It was insulting.Â
âGuys!â
Lily stepped between you both, throwing her hands up as if she were separating two wild animals about to rip each other apart.
âPlease, please calm down. Rafe, I think you should leave. Now."
He looked like he wanted to say more, you knew he had a million things screaming at him beneath the surface, but for once, he stayed silent. Maybe it was the fact that Lily was there, or maybe he finally realized you werenât going to bite into his bullshit excuses and provocations.
Whatever it was, he took a step back, shaking his head. âUnbelievable,â he muttered under his breath, storming past Lily and out of the room.
You could hear the distant sound of the door slamming as he left.
The moment he was gone, you felt your breath coming out in shallow gasps. Your heart dropped to your stomach, your pulse racing.
Lily turned to you; her face full of concern. She reached out and grabbed your shoulders gently.
âHey,â she whispered, her voice soothing, âBreathe. Just breathe.â
You pressed a hand to your chest, your breath hitching. Pregnant. You were pregnant with his kid, and this was what you got in return.
No peace. No calm.Â
Your chest tightened, your vision blurring. Â
âHey, hey,â She cooed again, her hands on your arms, grounding you. âYouâre okay. Weâre going to figure this out. Just breathe, okay?â
You couldnât believe youâd let it get this farâcouldnât believe you were even in this situation.
There was no way you were having his kid.
Absolutely not.
You didnât even have to think about it. The decision had been made the second heâd defended her and insulted you like you were sidewalk littering.
Tomorrow, youâd take care of it. Youâd book the appointment and that would be that. Clean break, no more ties to Rafe Cameron, no more staying in that fucked up twisted cycle with him.
âI really think you need to sit down and breathe for a second. Youâre scaring me sweetheart, and honestly, this isnât good for you.â
Once again, you pondered telling her everythingâabout breaking down and spilling every ugly detail. But that would make it real.
Your designer dress clung to you in all the wrong ways, as if even the fabric could understand the order going changes in your body.Â
âWhoever let him in, I want them fired.â
You spat suddenly gaining momentary strength to ruin lives. It wasnât just a demand; it was an execution order.Â
The quiet threat of it was more terrifying than your screaming would have been.Â
Tomorrow, youâd make sure this nightmare ended before it could begin.Â

suguru was pleasantly surprised when you shook him awake this early morning and told him in a groggy voice that you wanted to take a shower together.
both of your bodies are still a little sore from the night before, as evidenced by the small bruises and marks scattered across your skin.
it's rare that you and suguru shower together since you prefer to shower at night while he prefers to shower in the morning. you also once explained to him that you like your space in there and that another person would kind of overwhelm you, so the idea of cleaning up together never really appealed to you.
he respected that, of course, but not without a tiny, little pout on his lips.
but now the two of you are standing in your shower stall, the glass door fogged from the warm water you always use, and the fresh, soothing scent of suguru's shampoo lingering in the stuffy air.
droplets of water cover your bare bodies, glistening, as suguru's back is turned to you so that you can wash his hair.
you can't help but admire the way his long, black locks cascade down the muscles of his broad back like ink accidentally spilled over a precious letter.
even though it doesn't seem like a big deal, you know that the fact that you can wash his hair is a sign of trust that only you are granted. his hair is important to him, he can be quite stingy when it comes to it - or dramatic, as you like to call it sometimes - and the realization that suguru even asked you to wash it for him makes you more than giddy.
taking more product into your hands, you rub them together to make the shampoo lather, and you have to reach up slightly to massage the product into his scalp in circular motions.
suguru's head falls back into your gentle, working hands with a low groan, the sound echoing through the small space.
"I could get used to this," he sighs, a pleased smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth.
you snort behind him, "don't. this is basically a once in five years occurrence."
"mhm, I guess I should tire you out the night before more often then. it makes you quite cooperative."
a slight hiss escapes him as he feels a sharp tug on his hair.
"oh, sorry, I forgot that this is reserved for our bedroom," you say in a false, innocent tone, and suguru reaches a hand behind him to grab your wrist and halt your movements.
he glances over his shoulder, only to see an amused, mocking expression on your beautiful face. there's still a drowsy look clouding your half-lidded eyes, a puffiness that makes your cheeks and your lips plump, and he's suddenly overcome with the need to lift you into his arms and squeeze you against his chest until both of your lungs threaten to collapse.
"do you realize that we're both naked right now and that you're doing this?" he asks lowly with an arch of his thin brow. the grip on your wrist in his large palm is loose, a ghostly touch that you could easily free yourself from.
you simply shrug, "it's not my fault if it gets you off, I don't really see anything erotic about it right now. besides, you started with the dirty talk."
huffing in return, he turns back to face the wall and lets go of your wrist, but not before quickly bringing it to his lips and planting a light, ticklish kiss on it.
"that's hardly dirty talk from me, you should know that."
"I do, but your quality is not always consistent either."
"I wonder how someone can be so sweet and mean at the same time."
a humming noise emanates from you, automatically sending a shiver down his spine, "I can only throw the question back at you."
suguru can't stop a grin from forming on his flushed face, and his eyelids flutter shut as you touch a sensitive spot on his scalp.
"guess that's why we're here, huh."

There goes my baaaabyyyy | Multiple Characters
Characters: Isagi Yoichi, Bachira Meguru, and Sae Itoshi
Summary: After seeing an abundance of tiktoks about the Usher trend, you decide to try it out on your unsuspecting boyfriend after a while of not seeing him
Warnings: This is the author's attempt at being funny so crack ahead. I apologize in advance.
A/N: Idk what came over me today, but I decided to waste my time writing this anyways after getting inspired by this amazing slideshow on tiktok talking about how each Haikyuu character would react to you doing the Usher trend. This is also my first time writing for Sae ( and I also know virtually nothing about him as I've only seen season 1 of Blue Lock ) so I'm sorry if he's ooc. I just realllyyy wanted to add him as I've been thirsting over edits of him ( and Reo ) for the past day or so.
A sigh of relief escapes through the chapped lips of the soon-to-be world cup competitor Isagi Yoichi. After hard fought battles during the preliminaries and all the stress and trials that come with it, it was finally the time for Isagi to return to his safe haven. He was hesitant for a time as he was still riding the adrenaline rush and wanted to stay back and train with some of the others, but since Bachira was returning to Japan to visit his mom and celebrate with her, it reminded him that he also had someone to return home to; you.
And so, after the longest thirteen hour flight of his life, he was now walking, suitcase in hand, alongside his best friend as the two of them exited the baggage claim and was nearing the lounge where you were allegedly waiting for him.
It had been so long since he's seen you, touched youâheld you.. He finds himself wondering, how much has changed? Has your laugh changed at all? Have you switched up your sense of style? Maybe your hair? Do you still taste like the honeyed, buttered pancakes you used to make him every morning? Is your smile still so wide that it creases your cheeks and makes them pudge out more? Do your eyes still gaze at him as if he was made out of gold like they used to?
As he dwells on his thoughts, the yearning for you seeps in more and more like oil filling up a tank. It's heavy and it's only when he's just about to succumb to the weight of it all that he realizes just how much he's truly missed you.
And it seems that he wasn't alone in this feeling.
As he stepped into the lounge, he's met with his first and only warning. A warning that came in the familiar tune of the audio of a certain tiktok you had sent him a week prior before you came sliding his way on your knees. Your voice raised to match the exact pitch of the audio as you sung the infamous lyrics until you came to an abrupt halt when you collided with his stomach, nearly knocking him over with the force you hit him with.
And the only thing he could fathom to do was to stare like a deer in headlights and say, "Uh...what in the world?!"
Bachira couldn't possibly hope to contain his laughter any longer after that.
After seconds of Bachira's wheezing and airless chuckles, it was only when he was beginning to grip his stomach from the pain of his amusement that Isagi finally realized what just happened. And when he did, his entire face flushed a cherry red.
"What- Why are you doing this right now of all time?" He asked, semi-shouting as he grabbed the upper part of your armsâwhich were wrapped around his waist.
"I missed you, baby~!" You said in a sing-songy voice. And, as you looked up at him with your eyes shining with the familiar gleam he knew just as that same trophy-awarding smile stretched across your face, he found himself faltering for a moment. His shoulders slumping as he began mumbling shyly..
"I- I.. I missed you too.. But please, get up! People are starting to give us weird looks.."
Three months. That's how long it's been since you've last seen him.
Well, that's technically not true. If you wanted to be less dramatic, you could admit that you saw your boyfriend just last week on tv doing his signature dribbling moves and if you wanted to really be frank, you had seen his gorgeous face up close just the other day when he facetimed you and informed you that he'll be home that following afternoon. You could also make it sound much less extreme by simply confessing that you had regularly spoke to Bachira throughout these three months via text and that he'd facetime you at least one a week.
But you didn't want to count any of that.
I mean, sure you got to see him, but you didn't really get to see him. You weren't able to kiss his cheek whenever they perked up and flushed pink. You couldn't run your fingers through his layered hair and watch the satisfying transition of his brown strands turn yellow between your fingertips. You weren't able to hold his chin and watch in awe and fondness as he laughed toothily like a baby kitten..
You haven't seen him, not in all his glory which, to you, was like not seeing him at all. That said, three months of that torture was unbearable.
But all of that pain was forgotten in a matter of seconds at the odd sound of drums playing in the distance.
You didn't have any time to react toâor rather, processâwhat was happening or prepare yourself before Bachira got a running start towards you and soon dropped to his knees, sliding the rest of the way up to you with the biggest smile on his faceâall while Usher's voice boomed behind him from his back pocket.
You had no choice but to accept fate and allow the love of your life to crash into you and completely knock you to the ground.
As the biting cold of the airport's tiles crept up your skin and all the air was just about knocked from your lungs from unexpectedly hitting the flat surface, Bachira stared down at you from above, cheeks dusted pink which made him look like an excited little kid.
"Hey, babe! It's been so long!" He chirped before coming down to press all his weight onto you as he caged your torso with his arms, his face immediately nearing yours to press a big, wet kiss to your cheek.
If it had been any other situation that he had done this in, you'd probably be annoyed from the embarrassment of having basically half the airport staring at the two of you like you were a bunch of buffoons or, at the very least, the fact that his team was laughing up a storm in the background...but having been as starved of him as you were, all you could do was laugh while relishing in the feeling of his warmth consuming every part of your body as he leaned down again to plant a feverish kiss to your lips.
Feet tapped against the small tile floors of the elevator, thumping against the marble in a rhythm that embodied the very dread of its owner.
After months of dreading this day, Sae had, once again, stepped foot in Japan; a notion he refused to even utter aloud from just how much he despised it.
For a man with such negative opinions about his homeland, his reasons for coming back were quite frivolous in comparison. Though if asked, he lie and say that his passport expiredâwhich wasn't wrongâbut deep down he knew the real reason for his return; his partner who he was too prideful to call the love of his life.
It had took some time, and for a while, Sae was forced to come back here every other year or so in secret to visit them per their request, but at last, they had decided that so much time waiting for his semi-yearly visits were too much for their poor heart and that they were ready to take the next step and leave with him to Spain.
Sae had pushed the thought to the very back of his mind, but he was more than gladâoverjoyed, evenâwhen you told him of your decision over the phone as he himself was starting to grow restless without you by his side at times.
He had already went through the process of renewing his passport so all that was left was to pick you up and drive to the airportâwell, get driven to the airportâwhere he could finally leave this horrendous country, this time with you snuggled up by his side.
But he should've known that you wouldn't have let things be so simple.
As the doors to the elevator opened and allowed him to, at last, step foot into your lavish home, the symphony of his demise began to rang throughout it and bounce of the walls. Sae paused, face contorting into one of visible perplexment before his eyes widened at the sight of you sliding on your knees towards him, mouth opened as you sang to the beat of the music blasting throughout your home.
Your performance was short, glorious, and came to an end when your face was buried into the smooth fabric of your boyfriend's clothing and you smoothly wrapped your arms around your boyfriend's waist.
And it was only a full minute after such an amazing performance that it finally dawned on him what you were doing. And to that, he simply sighs disappointedly.
"I've changed my mind. You're not going anywhere with me," He said, and despite the blunt tone he douses his words in, it does little to your dazzling smile as you knew full well his words held little weight to them. You find yourself playing into your own bullshit anyways, though, as you begun to whine out in a high pitch you just knew he couldn't stand.
"Aww, but why? All I did was greet my pookie--" "Finish that sentence and I will actually leave you in Japan for another ten years."
You promptly shut your mouth after that, much to Sae's relief.

He isn't you
salami, swiss cheese, and white bread please <3
joe burrow x gf!reader
he isn't you
The easiest thing about dating Joe Burrow was that he wasnât the possessive type. Some girls liked that in a partner, but you found it suffocating. You didnât need him to mark his territory; your connection was clear without that.
This dynamic was perfect for your busy life as an ESPN reporter. Covering college football meant you were often on the road, but Joe was fully supportive. When you were both home, you made time for each other, and when you werenât, you checked in often enough.
One quiet morning, you felt Joe wrap his arms around you from behind as you cooked scrambled eggs and sausage for breakfast.
âMorning, sweetheart,â he mumbled sleepily.
You turned to smile at him, giving him a quick kiss. âHi, Joey.â
He grabbed coffee for both of you. âWhatâs on the agenda today?â he asked.
âWe have a new guy filling in this week,â you explained. âSo, a longer prep session.â
âSomeone you know?â
âNo, heâs from a smaller affiliate, so we havenât crossed paths.â
After breakfast, you kissed Joe on the cheek, grabbed your coffee, and headed out the door to the ESPN office. There, you were set to meet the new colleague, Harrison.
Outside, you spotted a man with curly brown hair and green eyes waiting by the door. âAre you Harrison?â you asked, shaking his hand as he smiled warmly.
âYes, nice to meet you!â he replied cheerfully.
The day flew by. Harrison was easygoing, and you enjoyed discovering you had mutual friends and had even attended rival high schools. That evening, you told Joe all about your day and your new colleague.
â...Iâm looking forward to working with him this weekend,â you finished, noticing Joeâs slight frown as he poked at his food.
âAwesome,â he murmured, not meeting your eyes.
âAre you okay?â you asked, sensing his mood shift.
âYeah, just tired.â
âWas practice hard today?â You asked, taking another bite of your dinner.Â
âA little,â he said, subconsciously digging into his shoulder muscle.Â
âLet me give you a massage after we clean up then,â you offered and he smirked. âJust to help you relax.â
âI can think of another way you can help me relax,â he flirted, and you rolled your eyes and laughed.
-----------------------------------------------
The next Monday, Joe was not happy as he scrolled through his Twitter feed, having been tagged in tons of tweets about you and your colleague Harrison.Â
âUser1: Wow, the chemistry between Y/N and the new guy is unreal. Are we intruding?â âUser2: Wonder how Joe Burrow feels watching his girlfriend get ârizzedâ on national TV.â âUser3: Joe took two Ls this weekend: losing to the Eagles and seeing his girl flirting with her colleague on air.â
Joe knew you hadnât meant anything by it, but watching those clips felt like a punch to the chest. He decided heâd stay out for the night, texting you that he was still with the team and might crash at JaâMarrâs. You frowned, confused, knowing heâd been home just an hour earlier. His texts had been scarce all weekend, and his silence stung.
Y/N: Is something wrong? Are you mad at me? JB: Itâs fine.
Something was definitely off, but he wasnât ready to talk. Trying to shake off your worry, you settled in for the night alone.
-------------------------------------
The next morning, you buried yourself in work to distract from Joeâs cold shoulder. Harrison popped by your office, noticing your downcast expression.
âEverything okay?â he asked, taking a seat across from you.
âJoeâs mad at me, but he wonât say why,â you sighed, recounting the strange tension between you and Joe.
Just then, Joe appeared at your door, his eyes narrowing as they fell on Harrison. As you introduced them, Joeâs handshake was noticeably firm, and Harrison shot you a wide-eyed look.
You looked from him to Harrison, and it all was finally clicking in place, which instantly made you giggle.Â
You smiled sweetly at Joe. âOh, I was just telling Harrison that itâd be nice to have him and his partner David over for dinner sometime.â
Joeâs hand went slack, his surprise evident. âYeah... thatâd be great,â he stammered, dropping Harrisonâs hand, relief settling over him.
The tension dissolved, and you couldnât help but chuckle as Joeâs jealousy melted away, leaving him sheepish.
After Harrison left, Joe lingered around you in the office, quieter than usual but clearly wanting to say something. You leaned against the desk, watching him nervously run a hand through his hair.
Finally, he sighed. âLook, I know itâs stupid, but seeing you with him⊠I couldnât help it. Watching people online talk about how good you two looked togetherâŠâ He trailed off, his expression softening as he took your hands in his.
âJoe,â you said gently, squeezing his hands, âI like Harrison as a colleague, and heâs a great guy, but he isnât you. No one could be.â
He smiled then, a hint of his usual confidence returning as he finally seemed to believe it.
You stepped closer, wrapping your arms around him. âYouâre the one I come home to,â you murmured. âThe only one.â
He pulled you in tightly, his voice quiet as he admitted, âI know. I just⊠needed to hear it.â
With the last bit of tension fading away, you leaned up, pressing a reassuring kiss to his lips. He wasnât possessive by nature, but every now and then, a reminder didnât hurt. And maybe you didnât mind giving him one.

Your eyes flick over him, taking in his nervous fidgeting. Itâs endearing, really, the way he seems like he'd rather be anywhere but standing across from you. And maybe itâs because he's the polar opposite of the loud types, but you canât help teasing him a little.
Endearing is just the perfect description for Bob đ„°
You canât resist needling him just a bit more, leaning in just close enough to watch him fluster. You know the effect you haveâthe low neckline of your top, the tattoos trailing down your arm, the glint of your piercings just visible through the thin fabric. Heâs doing his best not to stare, but his eyes flick down for a split second before he yanks his gaze back up, his face turning redder by the second.
đ€đ€đ€
He leans in even closer, his voice dropping to a low, conspiratorial tone. âWell, letâs start with two beers for Phoenix and Bob. Canât have âem dehydrating, right?â Thereâs a slight pause, and he gives you a smirk, his gaze lingering a bit longer than necessary. âMake sure Bobâs is extra coldâheâs, uh, still cooling off after the last time you talked to him.â You laugh, shaking your head as you start on the beers. âDonât tell me heâs still flustered from that., it's been years.â âPoor guy doesnât stand a chance with you around, no matter the time,â Hangman says with a wink.
Oh Bobby đ„č
He pauses, rolling his eyes in that way he does whenever he brings up Rooster. âRoosterâs a beer guy, as usual. But letâs give him the lighter stuff. Donât want him trying to prove anything tonight.â
Hahah this cracked me up đ
âAnd what about you, Hangman?â you ask, tossing him a smirk. âAnything special, or do you just want a mirror to stare into?â
Perfect answer đđ»
You laugh, reaching for a row of glasses. âLet me see⊠Something tells me you could handle a little extra kick tonight.â You pour a round of tequila for Phoenix and Coyote, grabbing lime wedges and a sprinkle of salt for the rims.
The way I just know Phoenix and Coyote are gonna drink those tequila shots with the most sexual tension between them đ€
He chuckles, not missing a beat. âBecause I donât think youâd waste your time with just any guy.â He holds your gaze, letting the words hang in the air, something challenging in his smile. âYou seem a little⊠particular.â
I love how they have this verbal sparring going on
Phoenix snickers, sipping her tequila and watching the scene unfold like itâs her favourite soap opera. âThis is priceless,â she mutters to Coyote, who nods, clearly entertained.
Oh they are having the best time, front row and all đ
âHey, Bob,â she says with a mischievous grin, âyouâre awfully quiet over there. What do you think? Whoâs got the better shot?â Bobâs eyes widen as every head at the table turns to look at him. He stammers, his grip tightening on his glass. âIâI donât know,â he mumbles, his voice barely audible. âI, uh⊠I think sheâd go for someone⊠respectful. Kind of⊠uhâŠâ
He's like: oh please don't rope me into this đ«Ł
Bob just blushes harder, sinking a little lower in his seat as Phoenix pats his back in a show of support. âIgnore them, Bob. Theyâre just scared youâre the dark horse here,â she teases, sending Jake and Bradley a challenging look.
Oh I have a feeling Phoenix knows something the others don't đ€đ€
Bob practically melts into his seat, but despite his obvious embarrassment, thereâs the smallest hint of a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as he glances at you.
đđđ
Bobâs leaning on the railing, doing his best to stay out of the spotlight as Jake and Bradley bicker, each too wrapped up in their little rivalry to notice you coming. Only Phoenix catches your approach, her eyes widening in excitement as she realizes whatâs about to happen. Sheâs the only one who knows, after all.
Hehe I knew it đ maybe Jake and Bradley should just kiss each other, they already bicker like an old married couple đ€
You can tell heâs trying to play it cool, but thereâs a flicker of pure adoration in his eyes as he takes you in. Without a word, he leans in, brushing his lips softly against yours, his hand finding your waist as he pulls you in. His usual shyness fades as he melts into the kiss, his touch growing just a little bolder, like heâs letting himself savour every second.
đ„°đ„°đ„°
Around you, the entire squad has gone silent. Rooster, Hangman, and Coyote are all staring, mouths slightly open in complete disbelief. But itâs not the kiss that has them in shock. Itâs the glint of your engagement ringâhanging on a delicate chain around your neck, tucked just under the collar of your shirt. The light catches it as you pull back from Bob, and you see the realization dawn on each of their faces.
They are like:
đ€Żđ€Żđ€Ż
Bob, still flushed from the kiss, shifts awkwardly as he catches sight of his teammatesâ stunned expressions. He ducks his head, clearly overwhelmed by all the attention, but thereâs a shy smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as he wraps an arm around your waist, holding you close.
He is just so cute đ„°
âGuess we kept it under wraps a little too well,â you say with a smirk, running a hand affectionately through Bobâs hair, watching as he blushes even deeper but relaxes into your touch. He looks at you with such genuine, quiet adoration that itâs impossible not to smile.
Urgh they are perfect together and Bob's blushing is just so cute đ„°
Rooster, still processing, lets out a low whistle, shaking his head. âWow. And here I was thinking shy guys didnât stand a chance.â Phoenix is practically beside herself with joy, and she canât help but gloat just a little. âWell, guess what, boys?â You grin, crossing your arms. âTurns out all I wanted was the quiet one.â
Haha this is just perfect!! And Phoenix is reeling of joy, I know it đ
The quiet ones
Summary: You surprise the Dagger Squad by revealing your secret to Bob, who shyly but lovingly melts into your kiss as the others watch in shock, as shy guys are your type.
Chapter Warning: Secret relationship reveal, unexpected PDA, and flustered teammates, drinking.
Pairing: Robert "Bob" Floyd x reader
The sun is barely up, casting a soft glow over the empty beach outside The Hard Deck as you pull open the doors and step into the familiar dimness of the bar.
You've been doing this for yearsâunlocking before the heat of the day sets in, setting up stools, and sliding glasses onto the shelves with the smooth rhythm you've perfected. Today feels the same, but something in the air hints it won't be an ordinary shift. There's a buzz, the sort that comes with Navy missions brewing, whispered over drinks in tones low enough that only bartenders know how to hear.
You're wiping down the bar when the door creaks open. You look up and spot a guy with dark-rimmed glasses, a touch of shyness evident in the way he stands at the door, scanning the place like heâs about to get reprimanded just for being here early. He's tall but sort of unassuming, a guy who'd rather fade into the background. He's a contrast to the pilots who usually come in loud, all bravado and swagger. You recognize him instantly: Bob, the quiet one who stands at the edges of the Dagger Squad.
As he approaches, you give him a slow, easy smile and cross your arms, leaning back. "Hey there. Early start for you guys?"
He swallows hard, adjusting his glasses. âUhâŠyeah. JustâŠgetting a round for the squad.â His voice is barely audible, like heâs half-hoping youâll mishear and let him walk away without much fuss.
Your eyes flick over him, taking in his nervous fidgeting. Itâs endearing, really, the way he seems like he'd rather be anywhere but standing across from you. And maybe itâs because he's the polar opposite of the loud types, but you canât help teasing him a little.
âSoâŠwhoâs in charge of this little mission?â you ask, setting down a few glasses with a subtle clink.
He hesitates, caught off guard by the question. âUhâŠAdmiral Simpson.â
You chuckle. âBeau? That's my uncle."
Bob's eyes widen, his mouth hanging open for a moment before he stammers out a response. "Oh. Uh, wow. I⊠I didnât know." The faintest blush creeps up his cheeks, and he looks down, almost embarrassed to be caught off guard like that.
You canât resist needling him just a bit more, leaning in just close enough to watch him fluster. You know the effect you haveâthe low neckline of your top, the tattoos trailing down your arm, the glint of your piercings just visible through the thin fabric. Heâs doing his best not to stare, but his eyes flick down for a split second before he yanks his gaze back up, his face turning redder by the second.
âDonât worry,â you say with a smirk, letting your fingers trace the rim of a glass, âyour secretâs safe with me.â
âUhâŠthanks. I justâum, Iâll takeâŠuh, the round,â he manages, his voice catching as you pour the drinks.
You can see his struggleâthe way he wants to say something, but every time he opens his mouth, he clams up. He's never met anyone like you before, thatâs obvious. The confidence, the tattoos, the piercings peeking through the fabricâit all ties together into something that leaves him completely off balance. And heâs⊠well, adorable.
As you slide the last glass across the bar to him, you give him a wink. âSee you around, Bob. Bring your friends by sometime.â
He mutters a quiet âthank youâ and shuffles out, beers in hand and cheeks flushed. And as he heads out the door, you can't help but grin to yourself, wondering if heâll find the nerve to say more next time.
---
Itâs a typical night at The Hard Deck, the bar buzzing with energy, filled with the sounds of laughter, clinking glasses, and rock music blaring from the jukebox. The place is packed with Navy types, just as it always is when thereâs no active mission holding them back. Youâre behind the bar, quick on your feet, sliding drinks to customers and catching up with the regulars. Then, through the crowd, you spot him.
Hangman strides up to the bar with that cocky swagger heâs famous for. Tall, blond, and all confidence, heâs got a grin that could charm the devil himself. And he knows it. Tonight, heâs dressed in his usual off-duty lookâjust tight enough T-shirt and a leather jacket slung over his shoulder, looking every bit the guy who doesnât take ânoâ for an answer. But thatâs the game he plays, and tonight youâre ready for him.
âEvening, sweetheart,â he drawls, leaning across the bar just a little too close. âThought youâd be closed by now.â
You raise an eyebrow, resting your hands on the bar and meeting his gaze without flinching. âWell, I thought youâd be up in the air by now,â you shoot back, your tone teasing. âGuess weâre both full of surprises.â
He chuckles, clearly delighted by the challenge. âAll right, you got me there,â he says, glancing around. âBut Iâve got a list for you. The squadâs thirsty tonight.â
âLetâs hear it, then,â you say, pulling out a row of glasses, ready to work but giving him your full attention.
He leans in even closer, his voice dropping to a low, conspiratorial tone. âWell, letâs start with two beers for Phoenix and Bob. Canât have âem dehydrating, right?â Thereâs a slight pause, and he gives you a smirk, his gaze lingering a bit longer than necessary. âMake sure Bobâs is extra coldâheâs, uh, still cooling off after the last time you talked to him.â
You laugh, shaking your head as you start on the beers. âDonât tell me heâs still flustered from that., it's been years.â
âPoor guy doesnât stand a chance with you around, no matter the time,â Hangman says with a wink. âBut hey, heâll survive. Next up, Coyote wants a whiskeyâneat. You know how he is. And RoosterâŠâ He pauses, rolling his eyes in that way he does whenever he brings up Rooster. âRoosterâs a beer guy, as usual. But letâs give him the lighter stuff. Donât want him trying to prove anything tonight.â
You slide the beers across to him, already pouring the whiskey as he keeps going. âAnd what about you, Hangman?â you ask, tossing him a smirk. âAnything special, or do you just want a mirror to stare into?â
He laughs, clearly enjoying this back-and-forth. âOuch, darlinâ. That one stings.â He places a hand over his heart, feigning offense before letting his gaze flick down to the line of tattoos trailing up your arm, then back to meet your eyes with a mischievous glint. âBut as long as youâre the one serving, Iâll take whatever you recommend.â
You pour him a whiskey, sliding it over the bar with a raised brow. âThink you can handle it?â
He picks up the glass, holding it up to you with that easy, confident grin. âOh, I can handle a lot more than that. But I like a bartender who can keep me on my toes.â He takes a sip, never breaking eye contact, letting the moment hang in the air.
The bar is still loud around you, but thereâs a beat where itâs just you and him, his gaze heavy and flirtatious, yours daring him to keep going. He leans in a little closer, his voice a quiet murmur. âYou know, we should get a drink somewhere else sometime. Just you and me.â
You lean back, letting a slow smile spread across your face, but truly this guy is not for you. âOh, is that an invitation?â
âConsider it an open one,â he replies, giving you a wink before stepping back to gather up the drinks. âBut hey, donât take too long thinking it over. I donât like waiting.â
Itâs been a busy night, the bar still packed as the crowd buzzes with the kind of energy that only comes when thereâs no telling when the next mission will roll around. Youâre behind the bar, catching your breath after that last round, when you catch sight of Rooster winding his way through the crowd, headed straight for you.
Heâs wearing his usual laid-back styleâwell-worn jeans, a vintage band T-shirt, and that aviator jacket slung over his shoulders. He looks like something out of a different time, especially with those sunglasses perched up in his curls, even though itâs night. Rooster always has this quiet, steady confidence, like he knows he doesnât need to announce himself. And thereâs something a little different in his step as he approaches you, maybe a touch of playfulness in the way heâs looking at you, a half-smile already curving on his lips.
âHey, bartender,â he says, leaning onto the bar with an easy grin. âIâm back for the squadâs refills, but this time I think weâre changing things up.â
âOh yeah?â You give him an amused look, resting your hands on the bar and leaning in just enough to close the space between you. âGuessing Hangman finally realized he can order something other than whiskey?â
He chuckles, shaking his head. âWell, Hangmanâs hard to change. But the rest of us? Weâre open to suggestions. Figured you might know what we need better than we do.â
You raise a brow, sensing the tease in his tone. âOh, so now Iâm in charge of drinks? Guess I must be moving up in the world.â
âBetter believe it.â He flashes you a quick grin. âBut you still gotta keep me entertained while youâre at it.â
You laugh, reaching for a row of glasses. âLet me see⊠Something tells me you could handle a little extra kick tonight.â You pour a round of tequila for Phoenix and Coyote, grabbing lime wedges and a sprinkle of salt for the rims.
âTequila for Phoenix and Coyote,â you announce, lining them up. âAnd⊠letâs do something different for Bob. A Moscow Mule might be more his speedâsomething smooth but not too strong, I know he likes it.â
âPerfect,â Rooster nods, his eyes catching on the way your hands move as you pour, clearly fascinated. âAnd what do you recommend for me?â
âHmm,â you say, pretending to consider as you tilt your head, catching his gaze. âSomething with a bit of bite, I think. Something⊠classic.â
You reach for the whiskey, but instead of neat, you add a twist of orange, pouring a well-balanced Old Fashioned. You slide it over to him, catching his eye with a smirk. âThink youâre ready for that?â
He picks up the glass, turning it slowly in his hand, that same lazy smile lingering on his face. âOnly if youâre ready to join me for one sometime,â he says, his voice low enough to make sure you catch the hint. He takes a sip, and his gaze stays fixed on you, watching your reaction, clearly testing the waters.
You raise an eyebrow, not about to let him off easy. âAnd what makes you think Iâd go for a guy who takes drink recommendations from the bartender?â
He chuckles, not missing a beat. âBecause I donât think youâd waste your time with just any guy.â He holds your gaze, letting the words hang in the air, something challenging in his smile. âYou seem a little⊠particular.â
âAnd you think youâre up to the standards?â You tilt your head, leaning on the bar just close enough that he has to take in every word.
His eyes flick down to your arm, where your tattoos catch the light, and then back up to meet yours, a flicker of mischief in his gaze. âI think Iâd be willing to try,â he says, his voice smooth, steady. âBut Iâll leave it up to you if I get the chance.â
You shake your head, suppressing a grin, and reach for another glass, pouring yourself a splash of soda as you lean back. âHow about you focus on delivering those drinks first, hotshot?â
Rooster raises his glass in a mock salute, his eyes never leaving yours. âAlright, boss,â he says, clearly amused. âBut donât think Iâm letting this go that easily.â
He picks up the tray, balancing it with practiced ease as he throws one last look over his shoulder before heading back to the squad. Youâre left behind the bar, catching your breath with a smile as you watch him go, knowing full well heâll be back for another roundâand maybe another shot at breaking through.
-
The Dagger Squad is clustered around a corner table, the drinks you just served scattered across the tabletop. Conversation and laughter flow easily, but the energy shifts the second Hangman and Rooster start eyeing each other, sizing each other up with cocky grins and sidelong glances. Bob, meanwhile, is trying his best to blend into the background, clutching his Moscow Mule and looking more than a little flustered as he watches his teammates' latest standoff unfold.
âYou know, Rooster,â Jake drawls, leaning back in his chair and raising his whiskey with an infuriatingly smug smile, âyouâre wasting your time here. Sheâs clearly more into a guy with⊠confidence.â He emphasizes the last word, smirking as he takes a slow sip, his eyes flicking over to the bar where youâre serving another customer.
Rooster snorts, crossing his arms as he leans forward. âConfidence? Is that what you call whatever it is you do?â He shakes his head, trying to keep his voice casual, but the competitive gleam in his eyes betrays him. âTrust me, Bagman, sheâs not going for the guy who struts around like a damn peacock.â
Phoenix snickers, sipping her tequila and watching the scene unfold like itâs her favourite soap opera. âThis is priceless,â she mutters to Coyote, who nods, clearly entertained.
âOh, please,â Jake fires back, unfazed. âYou think that âslow burnâ routine of yours is going to win her over? Women donât want to wait around forever. They like a guy who knows what he wants.â He casts another confident glance toward the bar, and Rooster follows his gaze, jaw tightening just slightly.
Bob, meanwhile, is turning a shade of red that nearly matches his squadmateâs call sign. He keeps his eyes firmly on his drink, but Phoenix catches the flush creeping up his neck and nudges him with her elbow.
âHey, Bob,â she says with a mischievous grin, âyouâre awfully quiet over there. What do you think? Whoâs got the better shot?â
Bobâs eyes widen as every head at the table turns to look at him. He stammers, his grip tightening on his glass. âIâI donât know,â he mumbles, his voice barely audible. âI, uh⊠I think sheâd go for someone⊠respectful. Kind of⊠uhâŠâ
Rooster grins, reaching over to pat Bobâs shoulder, his tone almost affectionate. âSee, Bob gets it. A guy whoâs not all in her face about it.â
Jake rolls his eyes, scoffing as he leans back. âRight. Because nothing says âcharmingâ like shyly staring into your drink.â
Bob just blushes harder, sinking a little lower in his seat as Phoenix pats his back in a show of support. âIgnore them, Bob. Theyâre just scared youâre the dark horse here,â she teases, sending Jake and Bradley a challenging look.
âOh, is that it?â Hangman laughs, tipping his glass toward Bob in mock salute. âTell you what, Bobâif she turns me down, Iâll let you take a shot.â
Rooster shakes his head, chuckling. âSure, Bob. If Jake somehow failsâand trust me, he willâyouâve got my blessing.â
Bobâs face is now a deep shade of crimson, and he lets out a nervous laugh, clearly mortified. But he canât resist glancing over toward the bar, where youâre moving easily between customers, completely unaware of the mini-drama playing out across the room.
âYou know what?â Rooster says, straightening up and giving Jake a look thatâs half-challenge, half-smirk. âWhy donât we let her decide whoâs worth her time?â
Jakeâs eyes narrow, a slow smile spreading across his face. âFine by me, Rooster. May the best man win.â
Bob practically melts into his seat, but despite his obvious embarrassment, thereâs the smallest hint of a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as he glances at you.
-
Youâve been keeping an eye on the Dagger Squad from behind the bar, and youâve caught enough of the banter to know theyâre up to something. You can feel the weight of their stares now, so you decide to put them out of their misery. With a knowing smile, you grab a couple of fresh napkins and make your way over to the table, letting your gaze linger on one person in particular.
Bobâs leaning on the railing, doing his best to stay out of the spotlight as Jake and Bradley bicker, each too wrapped up in their little rivalry to notice you coming. Only Phoenix catches your approach, her eyes widening in excitement as she realizes whatâs about to happen. Sheâs the only one who knows, after all.
âHey, Bobby,â you say with a playful lilt, giving him a warm smile. His head snaps up, his cheeks turning an immediate shade of pink.
The light catches it as you pull back from Bob, and you see the realization dawn on each of their faces.
âOh, my god,â Phoenix gasps, covering her mouth, trying to stifle her laughter as she watches Jake and Bradley try to process what theyâre seeing. âNo way. All this time, and sheâs been with⊠Bobby?â Her eyes sparkle with pure delight as she glances back at you, unable to contain her excitement.
Bob, still flushed from the kiss, shifts awkwardly as he catches sight of his teammatesâ stunned expressions. He ducks his head, clearly overwhelmed by all the attention, but thereâs a shy smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as he wraps an arm around your waist, holding you close.
âWaitâŠyouâre with Bob?â Hangman says, still sounding completely baffled. He shakes his head, his usual confidence gone. âAnd youâre engaged?â
âGuess we kept it under wraps a little too well,â you say with a smirk, running a hand affectionately through Bobâs hair, watching as he blushes even deeper but relaxes into your touch. He looks at you with such genuine, quiet adoration that itâs impossible not to smile.
Rooster, still processing, lets out a low whistle, shaking his head. âWow. And here I was thinking shy guys didnât stand a chance.â
Phoenix is practically beside herself with joy, and she canât help but gloat just a little. âWell, guess what, boys?â You grin, crossing your arms. âTurns out all I wanted was the quiet one.â

"When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained
But darlin' when I hold you
Don't you know I feel the same?"
âPaige, I hate you. This guy is the worst.â
âOh, heâs not that bad! Lol. Where did he take you?â
âA boxing match.â
âNO! Lol. Oh my god. I hate boxing and how the fuck are you supposed to talk there?â
âHeâs taking me to a bar after.â
âText me when you get home so I know youâre not dead :P.â
âLove you to, dork.â
âWho are you talking to?â, your blind date asks as he lightly nudges you with his shoulder.Â
âPaige. Iâm just telling her how nice you are and that you havenât murdered me yet.â
âHa! Well, the nightâs still young.â, he laughed causing your eyebrows to furrow in confusion, not out of fear but annoyance that he thought that was the appropriate thing to say to someone he only met an hour ago.
When your friend and roommate suggested you go on this blind date you originally declined. You had just gotten out of a 2-year relationship and wasnât in the mood to dive back in. After a couple of lonely (and needy) nights, you changed your tune.Â
She insisted he was a nice guy she knew from work and he absolutely was but it didnât overshadow his awkward personality. When he suggested coming to a boxing match, you were actually intrigued thinking it was an out of the box idea instead of going to the movies or dinner. As the small arena began to fill, you found yourself more fascinated by the people around you casually talking about one of the fighters.Â
Eddie Munson was a âveteranâ in the field, being a bit older than most boxers in the ring. He had won multiple matches but for whatever reason managers and venues didnât take him seriously. The kid he was fighting had many accolades and higher stats but his wins matched his opponents from the pamphlet you skimmed through while you two waited.Â
As the lights lowered and both men were introduced into the ring, you couldnât help but focus on the older boxer. He was extremely handsome with his sharp jaw and intense, piercing eyes that commanded attention. His chest and muscular arms were littered with tattoos that accented his physique perfectly. Â
With all the cheering and commotion around the ring, you were surprised when his eyes landed on you. He tried to look away but you noticed his gaze kept lingering back to where you were sitting. Trying not to appear intimidated, you smirked his way and leaned back in your seat where your dateâs arm was strewn along the back. The boxer slowly took you in, scanning along the short sleeve black dress that clung tightly to your busty chest and large curves. Your high heeled shoe absently tapped the air as he glanced down your legs and back up to your face.Â
Someone you assumed was his coach, tapped his shoulder and forced him to focus as he screamed instruction into his ear. Rising to his feet, the person took his robe before he headed for the middle of the ring. On his short stride, his gaze shifted towards you again making your smile grow as you silently mouth the words âGood Luck.â
Eddie jumps slightly as the announcerâs voice flows loudly near him startling him as you giggle and he shakes his head.
***
âYeah so I do contracting at this firm and itâs so stupid butâŠâ
You donât know if your date notices but your eyes had begun to glaze over as he spoke. Your date seemed like a nice enough guy but was definitely not your cup of tea. The one thing you feared about dating again was mundane shit that came with casual conversation. You always wished you could skip over this part and get to the moment where you were comfortable again.Â
âI feel like Iâm droning on and on. Tell me about you.â
âOhâŠumâŠthereâs not much to tell really.â
âOf course there is. Tell me about your job, your family, everything!â, he chuckles a bit too enthusiastically as you try to hide your cringe behind your smile.Â
âExcuse me, miss. Telephone for you.â, the bartender interrupts as he points at his phone near the end of the counter.
âOh, thank you. Excuse me.â
After hopping down from your stool, you make your way to the telephone and put it to your ear.
âHello?â
âI thought maybe Iâd give you a minute of peace from chatty Cathy.â, the smooth voice on the other end laughs.Â
âHm. How do you know I wasnât enjoying the chat?â, you ask as your eyes fleet around the bar.
âWell first off, you were way too eager to get away. I mean you didnât even ask who was calling. Add in the fact that your face is worth a thousand words, sweetheart.â
It takes you another few seconds before you find your mystery caller leaning against the wall by the front door on his cell phone. The long-haired boxerâs grin grew when your eyes met his as his subtly waved his fingers in your direction.Â
âWanna get out of here?â
âIâm in the middle of date. I canât just leave.â, you tease knowing full well youâd let him kidnap you if that meant leaving this date behind.
âThereâs only so long you can keep up this rouse before he starts getting suspicious so I would make a decision quickly.â
âPfft, his brain doesnât move that fast.â
The manâs laugh echoed into your ear straight to your heart as you blushed, glad that you had the ability to make someone laugh like he just had.Â
âHoney, a woman as beautiful as you in that sexy dress shouldnât be bored out of her mind. She should be having her mind blown.â
âAnd youâre the man to do that?â
âIâd like to try if you give me the chance. I have a feeling youâre not easy to please like all these other giggly girls and I like a challenge.â
âSmooth, Mr. Munson.â, you giggle.
âAh, so you were there to see me fight.â
âNo, sir. It was just a happy accident.â
âOoooo sir. I like that. You can just call me Eddie for right now though.â
âI prefer the term Daddy.â
It was no longer subtle that the two of you were staring at each other from across the bar. His breathing stutter slightly and you bit your bottom lip to force them to remain still even though you wanted to smirk his way.Â
âY/N? Everything alright?â, your date asked as he placed himself in the chair next to where you were standing.Â
âY/N.â, Eddie repeated as if he was trying to familiarize himself with your name. When you didnât reply, your dateâs palm reaches out to slide down your arm and take your hand in his. âIâm counting every second he touches you. Thatâs how many times Iâm going spank you for allowing it.â
A tear runs down your cheek and you see regret flash through his eyes, worried he may have gone too far before he sees you hang up the phone and pull your hand from your dateâs grasp.Â
âI have to go. My brother was in-in an accident.â, you cry as you make a beeline to where the boxer was standing near the coat check desk. âExcuse me.â, you murmur as your arm brushes chest, the contact sending a little electricity through you both.Â
âNo problem.â, he mumbles as he turns to leave, making sure the back of his hand grazes yours as he does.Â
âDo you want me to drive youââ
âNo, no its ok. My sister lives close by so sheâs going to pick me up. Sheâs the one that called.â
âOk, well, let me at least wait with you.â
âAlright. You pay and Iâll wait outside.â
After he nods, you sprint outside to find Eddie sitting on a motorcycle offering you a helmet.Â
âReally?â, you sass as you take it from his hand and slide it onto your head.Â
âPsh like you donât like it.â
Revving the engine, you cling to his waist as he drives off into the night.
***
Your eyebrow raises as pulls up to a gym and sifts through his pockets to search for his keys.Â
âYeah, um, welcome to my humble abode for the time being.â
âYou live in a gym?â
âI live in the back of a gym. Big difference.â
âOh absolutely.â, you jest as you allow him to lead you inside. âI would figure with how good of a fighter you are, youâd have Rocky 4 levels of riches.â
Again, he cackles as he throws his head back and in that moment, you started to realize you would do anything to continue hearing that sound.Â
âI donât think Iâve ever heard someone from your generation mention such an old movie.â
âItâs not that old and neither are you.â
âWell, arenât you sweet.â, he smiles as he opens another door in the back and gestures you inside. âI kind of started boxing a bit late in the game compared to everyone else around me. Some of these kids have been doing it their whole lives and I only started training 10 years ago.â
As you take in his little room, Eddie heads to his mini fridge to grab a couple of beers. You could tell, he hadnât been here long, living out of a suitcase for the time being.Â
âHow long are you stuck here?â
âI actually just got an apartment so I move in, in about a month.â
âWhat happened to your last place?â
Eddie smiles as he hands you one of the bottles in his hand.Â
âYou ask a lot of questions.â
âIâm inquisitive.â, you smirk back as tilt the beer to clink with his before taking a sip. âI need to know if this is where you take your hookups to hide from your wife.â
âWhat makes you think Iâm married?â
âHuh.â, you muse as you take a seat on his couch/bed. âMost men would immediately deny. âOh, no, baby! Iâm not married. I swear.ââ
The boxer rushes forward as you speak to hastily move his sheets and pillow on to another chair before taking a seat beside you.Â
âIâm, um, no Iâm not married.â, he chuckles nervously. âFull transparency, I actually just got out of relationship so if I seemâŠawkwardâŠthatâs why.â
âI think youâre doing alright.â, you smile as you turn to face him getting more comfortable and he does the same. âBetter than chatty Cathy.â
Again, he laughs and again you swoon.Â
âIf it makes you feel better I just got out of a two-year relationship myself.â
âIâm sorry, sweetheart. How long has it been?â
âA few months.â
âGeez and youâre already dating?â When you donât laugh like he does, Eddie panics as you sip your beverage. âNo, that came out wrong. I just meant that youâre doing better than me. Itâs been a year since Iâve even seen my ex and dating hadnât even crossed my mind. Fuck, I sound like an idiot.â
Your giggle pierces his heart and he melts in relief.Â
âNo, you donât. May I ask what made you find the confidence to ask me over?â
âI saw you from the ring and thought you were a fucking angel Iâd never see again. When I walked into the bar and saw you, I knew I couldnât let the opportunity slip away.â
âWow. Smooth again, Mr. Munson.â
âI thought you preferred Daddy.â You blushed as your head dipped, trying to hide your eyes but his callused fingers quickly reached out to grab your chin forcing you to look at him again. âThisâŠThis goes without saying but you donât have to do anything you donât want to do. We can just talk orââ
Your lips on his interrupted his gentlemanly speech before tilting back slightly so your mouth wasnât far but you could still see his face.Â
âDo I make you nervous, Daddy?â
âFuuuuuuuck.â, Eddie whispers as both palms cup your cheeks. âI donât want t-to disappoint you.â
Slowly, you crawl over him till your straddling his lap and take hold of his hands to guide them to your wide hips.
âYou wonât, baby, but if this isnât something youâre intoââ
âNo, no, no. Iâm into it.â, he rushes making you giggle as his face flushes with embarrassment at his earnestness. âMy ex wasnât⊠she tried for me a couple of times but...â
âYou never really fully got to take control?â
âI told you itâs been a while since Iâve dated but itâs been even longer since I was able to be Daddy.â
âSounds lonely.â His head tilts to the side at your statement as his brows furrow. âPeople donât understand it but when Iâm in my little girl headspace I feel safe when Iâm with the right partner. Itâs natural for me sometimes when Iâm intimate to slip into that mode and if I was with someone who couldnât satisfy that⊠I would feel lonelyâŠlike I did something wrong.â
When your eyes meet his again, Eddieâs smiling up at you with a softness you appreciate.Â
âThank you for coming to my TED talk.â
His body shakes as he laughs and you feel the energy in the room lighten.Â
Comfortable.
Bringing your lips to his, he reciprocates with more confidence.
âTake your time and ease back into it.â, you whisper.Â
You continue to grind against him as you murmur soft words in his ear and his hands roam your back. Gripping the bottom of your dress, he lifts it up your body and groans as his eyes hungrily take you in.Â
âFuck, youâre so fucking sexy.â Smirking, you slide off him, your eyes never leaving his as you remove your panties and toss them at his chest. âLeave your shoes on and crawl to Daddy, baby.â
Your pussy clenches at his words, his confidence in the title starting to return. Sinking to your knees, you do as he says making him groan as he unbuckles his belt and pushes his pants to his ankles allowing his cock to spring free.Â
As he spits into his hand and strokes himself, you pause.Â
âJesus. Youâre so fucking big.â
âHey.â, Eddie growls causing your head to snap at attention. âWatch your mouth.â
âIâm sorry, Daddy. Iâve justâŠâ You continue to crawl forward till your hands balance on his knees. ââŠnever had a dick as big as yours inside me. I-I donât know if it will fit.â
âShit. Itâll fit, pretty girl. Weâll make it fit. You just have to get it nice and wet.â
After nodding in agreement, he hisses as your hand wraps around him and the tip of your tongue darts out to lick the little beads of precum that had begun to leak out.
âGoddamn it, Y/N.â
Opening your mouth wide, you test the waters and bob your head taking half of him as you allow your tongue to swirl around his head along his slit.Â
âT-Thatâs it, baby.â, Eddie pants as he pulls your hair into a makeshift ponytail to get a better look at youâre doing. âGood girl. Your mouth feels soâŠso good. Try and take more, sweetheart.â
You do as he asks and promptly gag as your throat constricts around him.Â
âFuck! Thatâs it. Take it, baby. Choke on Daddyâs cock. Let m-me help.â Holding you tightly, you allow him to use you as he thrusts his hips and his dick hits the back of your throat. âThere we go. Mouth open, flat tongue. So fucking beautiful taking my dick like this.â
Tears spill, smearing your make up as he lets you go and you take in big gulps of air. Grasping your cheeks, he kisses your lips as his thumbs wipe away the stains under your eyes.Â
âSuch a good girl⊠so good for me. I should have asked but do you have a safe word? Is Red still a good one?â
Eddie smiles as you breathily laugh and give him a peck before climbing up his lap to straddle him again.Â
âRed is still good.â
âTurn around, sweetheart.â
After doing what he says, your whole body melts into his slightly sweaty chest as his arms wrap around you. Gripping the base of his shaft, you shutter as he slides his cock between your folds, teasing your clit with his tip.Â
âYouâre so wet, little girl, fuck. Are you ready for Daddy, baby?â
âYes. Please.â Lifting your hips to help guide him, the boxer begins to gradually push himself inside of you. âOhâŠf-fuckâŠâ
âAre you ok?â, he whispers in your ear as you fully fall back against him.Â
âYeah, yeah. ItâŠfeels so goodâŠso big. Mmnah!â, you whine as he slowly thrusts in another inch stretching you open.Â
âYouâre doing so good for me, Y/N. Take your time.  We have all night, honey.âÂ
Your half lidded eyes watch as he runs his tongue along his fingers before bringing them down to massage circles against your clit, feeling your pussy flutter and allowing him more leeway as you both groan feeling your lap finally connect with his.Â
âYouâreâmmphâso fucking tight.â
Experimentally, you roll your hips and the moan that leaves his lips has your eyes rolling as you do it again. You know his fingers gripping your love handles will leave bruises as he starts to guide you but you donât care as you suck hickies into his neck, smiling at the vibration as he groans.Â
âBounce, pretty girl. Fuck me hard.â
Balancing your hands on his knees, your head lulls forward as you bounce on top of him, mewling repetitive ahs as he slams into that sensitive spot inside you. His palm comes down hard on your ass as he continues to knead his fingers into the plump flesh.Â
âGod, I canât get over how fucking sexy you are. Cum for Daddy, sweetheart. Makeâfuckâmake yourself cum on my cock.â
Falling back against him, his wide lust filled eyes watch as one of your arms comes around to cling to the back of his neck as your other brings your hand to massage your breast. Eddie had never met a woman like you before and was pretty sure he would never meet again.Â
Even with his ex, she used to be pretty open minded but never seemed to carry the kind of confidence you did. He knew when he saw you from the ring that you were different but he had promised himself he would focus on his career for the time being before jumping into anything new relationship wise.Â
But how could he let you walk out that door tomorrow morning and let you go?
Your body trembled against him and he grunted as your cunt gripped his cock as you came. You rode out your high and the feeling made him almost feral as he picked you up to move you both the floor.
With his hand firmly holding the back of your neck smushing your cheek into the floor, Eddie thrust into you with rough abandon as you fell apart beneath him.Â
âOh my Goooooood. So fucking deep.â
Twisting his hand to curl his fingers in your hair, he yanked you closer to his chest and slowed his pace but not his intensity as his skin slapped obscenely into yours.
âDoes my dick feel good, sweetheart?â
âYeeeeesssâmmmah!â
âTell me. Tell Daddy how much this tight little pussy loves my cock.â
âY-Your cock feels so good, Daddy. My pussy was made for you.â As you spoke, his forehead rested against your cheek as his eyes shut and he found his rhythm again. âI want to feel you cum inside me, baby please.â
His eyes snapped open as he scanned your face realizing immediately you were telling the truth.Â
âDonâtâDonât say shit like that, little girl, unless you mean it.â
âP-P-Please, Daddy. I promise Iâm safe. I need you to fill me up. I need to feel how good my pussy made you feel.â
âGoddamn it.â, Eddie grunted, pulling out and aggressively flipping you over onto your back before guiding himself back inside you.Â
Your legs promptly wrapped around his waist and he pounded into you knowing he wasnât going to last much longer.Â
âJust like that, Daddy. IâmâfuckâMâgonna cum again. Cum with me.â
Balancing on his palms, his chocolate irises took in all of your beautiful features as they contorted in pleasure. It had been so long since he made a woman feel this good and he desperately wanted to please you. Your palms massaged along his slightly sore arms and his chest, gliding effortlessly over his bruises that were beginning to form from his fight earlier that night.Â
None of that mattered.Â
Every ache and pain he carried from the ring, disappeared as soon as you touched him and all he could focus on was the warmth that was you.Â
âYouâre so beautiful, sweetheart. Iâll give you what you want.â
Circling your arms around him, you pulled him against your body, needing to absorb him as he rolled his hips, grunting in your ear till you felt his release warm you deeper than any man you had before. The whine Eddie made as his fingers clung to your hair was enough to have the coil snap for the final time that night as your pussy tried to milk everything he had to give.Â
You both laid there together silently intertwined for a good long while as you tried to catch your breaths.Â
âAre you ok?â, you whisper.
Pushing up onto his elbows, his hand moves some stray hairs away from your sweaty face as he softly smiles down at you.Â
âYeah, baby, Iâm good. Are you alright?â
âYeah, a little sore.â, you answer as your eyes gesture between your bodies.Â
âShit, ok, um, Iâll go slow. Ready?â When you nodded, as gently as he could, he pulled out of your aching cunt, cooing praise at you as you winced. âGood. Good girl. We, um, I donât have a shower in here but there are locker rooms with showers if you want or we can stay here of course.â
âIâd like to shower, please.â
The way you said please told him you were still coming down from that headspace causing your words to echo in his brain about how lonely it can be being stuck there and not being taken care of properly.Â
Rising to his feet, he hastily helped you to yours before taking you in his arms and caring you to the locker room.Â
âThank you. Iâm not too heavy?â
âNot at all, princess.â
You watch his face as he turns on the water and makes cute little faces as the cold water hits his hand first before steaming up the area. As he cleaned your skin, his tongue poked out the side of his mouth making a little giggle fall from yours.Â
âWhat are you laughing at?â
âYou.â, you smile. âYouâre just really adorable.â
âThank you? I think.â, he grins as he comes up to kiss your forehead.
After youâre both clean and back in his room, he pulls out the couch to turn it into a bed and places you on it before you notice him pause.Â
âI, um, I just assumed youâd be falling asleep here. Iâm sorry. DidâŠdid you need to get home?â
âUmâŠâ You meant what you said when it came to relationships. You werenât ready to jump into a new one and when you let him bring you home you told yourself this was just going to be a onetime thing but you couldnât deny there was something about this man that made you feel safe. Maybe you could just take things slow and see where it led. âNo, I can stay.â
Eddie breathed a sigh of relief as he leaned down to kiss your lips. Throwing one his shirts over your frame, you laughed as he pulled on his boxers and obnoxiously jumped into bed.
With your head on his chest and his arm wrapped around you, the two of you talked till the sun slowly began to rise outside his window.Â
##################
âI thought you were dead!â, Paige shouted as she lightly pushed your arm before getting up to hug you when she saw you walk into the restaurant you two were supposed to be meeting at. âYou didnât text me or anything and when I woke up you werenât home.â
âI know! Iâm so sorry. I got caught up with someoneâŠâ, you grin as your eyes bashfully meet hers.
âOh, tell me everything.â
The two of you giggle as you regale her with the story of the previous nightâs events as you swoon over the older boxer you met.Â
âUgh, well Iâm glad something good came from boxing.â, she sassed, sticking out her tongue for emphasis.Â
âGood lord, what is it with you and boxing? Were you once a fighter who lost her dream when another fighter broke your neck?â
âNo, you movie nerd.â, she laughs. âMy dadâs a boxer. I mean I guess you can call him that. Heâs a mechanic but decided randomly to start training to fight.â
âYour dad the deadbeat?â
âYeah. He went training 24/7 and it killed my mother. They stopped spending time together and when they were together they fought constantly. One day a few months ago, he was just gone and next thing I know they are getting a divorce.â
âIâm so sorry, Paige. I know how hard divorce is on a family.â
âHeâs supposed to meet me today to get some more of his things. He doesnât have a place right now and begged my mom to hold his stuff till he found something. I guess heâs won a good amount of matches because he told her the other day heâd saved enough money to finally move. My mom refuses to see him so Iâm the messenger I guess.â
âDo you want me to lag behind so I can be your reason to leave? âOh hereâs my roommate. We have to go.ââ, you joke.
âMy saint. Would you please? Op, speak of the goddamn devil.â, she sighs as she flashes you her phone screen. âIâll meet you outside.â
As she walks outside, you hurry to pay so sheâs not alone for too long. Paige was a wonderful roommate and an even better friend. When you met her, you had just had your breakup and nowhere to go. She was sympathetic to your plight and helped you at your absolutely lowest. She got you get back on your feet and now after meeting Eddie, maybe things were finally on the right track again.Â
âYou donât have to do this, sweetheart. I can drive down there and get my things myself. She shouldnât be asking you to be the âmiddlemanâ. This is between me and your mother.â
âI donât mind doing it after what you did to her. Imagine how sheâd feel if you showed up covered in hickeys. Hide that shit better.â, Paige shouted as she slammed her trunk closed and her father lifted the collar of his jacket. âWhatever doesnât fucking matter. All that matters to you now is yourself and your dreams, you fucking asshole.â
âPaige, please. Can we just talk so I can explain some thingsââ
âNo, we canât. My roommates here and we need to go home. Right, Y/N?â, she growls as she turns to face you.Â
Your eyes widen as you come face to face with Paigeâs âdeadbeatâ father. Eddie seems equally as surprised as his jaw falls open.Â
âTh-This is the girl you moved in with?â, he whispered.
âWhat do you care? Sheâs my friend and mom loves her. Come on, Y/N.â
As your roommate, grips your arm and pulls you to her car, you struggle to take your eyes off the older man as his own irises sullenly follow.
Of course. How could I be so stupid to think things would get better? I should have refused the blind like I wanted to. If I had this would never have happened. Iâm a fucking idiot.Â
As Eddie watches his daughter speed away with the angel he met last night, he pulled the piece of paper you left by his nightstand with your phone number and a note saying you needed to meet your roommate for lunch but you would talk to him later.Â
His heart fell into his stomach as the notion ran through his head that you may never want to speak with him again.Â

Humans Are Extinct (Yandere!TWST x fem!Reader) Monster AU pt 16
(Azul usually only enters his full Cecaelia form when he is completely submerged in water, as it is hard to move with tentacles out if water. Azul is not the best swimmer, but he makes up for it with how powerful his tentacles are as he can actually do immense damage with them while underwater. There is a small heart shape on his right cheek beneath his eye among the natural dark coloration on his face. He doesn't like this heart very much until the Human points it out, now he thinks it is his best quality because it was enough to draw the attention of the Human in the first place.)
Warnings: yandere, multiple yanderes, platonic and romantic yanderes, bullying, the day of representatives is upon us, Malleus tries, some canon Malleus interests mentioned, unnamed students causing problems, mending some bridges, lending support, light cat vs cat conflict, Dragon, Hellcat, Shinigami, Cervitaur, Nemean Lion, Unicorn, Kelpie, mention of Water Nymph,
~~~~~~~~
This wasn't really how you had expected to spend the day. Through it was interesting at first, after the first hour you and every other companion had already become bored. Every companion except for Malleus.
"This one is a crow gargoyle, made 100 years ago. Out of all the Gargoyles, this is the only one that depicts a crow harpy as a Gargoyle, not to be confused with the crow Harpy Grotesques that line the fencing-"
Grim, Ortho, and Silver were already bored to tears after the long winded introduction to the Gargoyles that loved around Ramschackle as Malleus then moved on to the Gargoyles around the fencing. Honestly, it had been interesting at first to learn about the Gargoyles. Many had history you didn't know and it was always nice to talk to someone about their passions. Given this was the 50th or 51st Gargoyle the Dragon had introduced you to, you were a little bored.
It was while you were envying Grim- who slept soundly in your arms, the both of you atop Solver's back- you heard a strange sound on the wind. The sound was as if there were several voices shouting over one another. As you listened attentively to the sound, you heard a higher pitched cry that made your heart seize.
"What was that?"
"Hmm? That is a Grotesque-"
"No, not the Grotesques, Tsuno, that scream. What was the scream?"
Malleus paused his lecture to listen, Ortho and Silver doing the same before another high-pitched scream split the air again. Silver was first to turn and head towards the direction of the sound, your other two guards easily keeping pace with the Cervitaur. The increased jostling woke Grim who scowled and looked around at whatever was so important to draw your group away from the monotonous Gargoyles.
It wasn't hard to find the source of the sound.
"Come on, you stupid cub! You said you wanted to play, so we are just trying to play! Don't hide from us right after we start playing."
"Leave me alone!"
The crying voice of a young child made your blood boil as you saw the scene playing out in front of you. There were several students you didn't recognize- judging from their arm bands and magestones, they were from Heartslabyul- and they were heckling what seemed to be a young boy who hid in the roots of a tree. It was obvious the boy was crying and the sinister grins on the student's faces told you they had been tormenting him.
"Malleus-"
You didn't even have to finish your sentence before the Dragon acted on your behalf. Clearly the offending students were caught off guard by the sudden and harsh winds that threw them to the ground. They almost seemed ready to fight before they realized it was a less than pleased Malleus Draconia staring them down, the group scattering from the location to try and avoid the wrath of the strongest student among them. It didn't take much for you to memorize their faces, knowing you were due a conversation with Riddle and figuring you could mention their poor behavior to the temperamental Unicorn.
Once the offending students cleared out, you could see the boy better as he cowered among the tree roots. He was wearing a bright yellow shirt that had a few rips and tears in it. His hair was a red to gold gradient that highlighted and complimented his golden ears, tail, and back legs. The young boy was crying and trying to push himself further back into the roots even as Malleus approached, hissing warily at the Dragon and letting out pitiful mewls. He looked like a brighter and happier version of Leona.
"Here, let me try."
The mewling was hurting your heart more than you realized it would as you passed a somewhat displeased Grim to Silver. Malleus didn't allow you to dismount on your own from the Cervitaur's back- your leg was still injured- and instead chose to lift you up with his tail, setting you in the grass in front of the roots the child hid among. Where you wished you could have approached the clearly frightened child on your own, you weren't going to bemoan the fact now.
"It's okay," you began in a soothing tone, your voice taking on a much softer pitch, "they're gone now."
"They- They're gonna come- come back!"
"No, they won't. I can promise you that."
"Stay away!"
You frowned slightly at how clearly afraid the cub was and you shuffled closer, trying to not stress the cub further. He had several scrapes on his soft skin and you couldn't help but feel pity for theh clearly frightened child. Honestly, you had half a mind to go straight to Riddle after this and inform the Unicorn of the poor behavior shown by his dormmates. First, you had to make sure the cub was alright.
"Let's try this again, my name is (Y/n) (L/n), what is yours?"
"Ch-Cheka. My name- my name is Cheka."
"Okay, Cheka, where are you supposed to be right now?"
"Unca- Unca said I was- was 'posed to- to stay in the Greenhouse. But it- it's boring there! I just wanted to play..."
"Oh, you poor thing. I'm going to guess those students said they would play with you, but their games weren't very fun, right?"
"They weren't fun at- at all! They kicked and chased me, an-and they yelled at me-!"
The cub cut off with a loud sob and covered his face, crying his little heart out as he curled in on himself. You saw your chance to reach out and grab the cub as he cried, taking it slowly so he could pull away if he wanted to. He didn't fight as you lifted him into your lap, instead he curled against your figure and sobbed into your warm body, seeking comfort and affection after his frightening experience.
"I'm so sorry they did that to you. That isn't fair to do to anyone, especially someone so young."
"They- they hit me, an-and they said I was stupid-! And- and- and then they chased me-!"
You just held the cub and let him cry it out, rubbing his back to soothe him. He seemed like he was around five years old, maybe younger, and he clearly didn't expect anyone to be so cruel to him. Honestly, the more the cub sobbed, the angeier you became at those who dare to hurt him so gleefully. He was just a child, what kind of monsters were they to get off on hurting this poor little cub? Kids could be annoying, sure, but that wasn't an excuse to hurt and terrify them.
"Okay. It's okay now. I won't let them hurt you again, okay?"
"Okay..."
You swayed slightly to try and soothe the cub further, his heartwrenching sobs slowly dying down to sniffles as he cuddled against you. Once the cub has mostly calmed down, he seemed drowsy and low energy. It took a lot of effort to cry so much especially after being so scared.
"Cheka, Honey, where are your parents?"
"Unca is in the greenhouse... I don't know where Dada is... He said I had to stay with Unca, but..."
"Okay. Do you want to go see if we can find Unca or Dada first?"
"I want my Dada..!"
"Alright, let's find Dada. You can stay with us until we find him. We'll make sure those mean students don't bother you again."
"Okay..."
Malleus used his tail once more to lift you and Cheka up, back onto the back of the Cervitaur. Neither he nor Silver seemed put off by the extra weight of the cub. The only one who seemed angry was- surprisingly- Grim.
The little Hellcat's ears were flat on his head and his three pronged tail was lashing in frustration.
"That's my Hooman..."
As he growled, you frowned at the small Hellcat, but you figured he would be less than pleased with the situation. Cats from your world were territorial, especially the males, and now Grim had to compete with Cheka for your affections. He was clearly angry that he was relegated to Silver's arms and not yours as he glared jealously at the younger cub.
"Grim," you started with a gentle but warning tone to the Hellcat, "calm down. Cheka isn't a threat to you."
"Yes, he is. You are my Hooman and that means I should be the one you hold, not that- that cub!"
"Grim, just because we are helping Cheka out doesn't mean you're not my boy anymore. I'm your Hooman, and you're my Grimmy. Okay?"
He was still frowning, but his tail had stopped lashing as he slowly nodded. It was clear he wasn't happy with the situation but he wasn't going to be mean to Cheka either. Now, all you had to do was find Cheka's Dad- who was more than likely a Nemean Lion, judging from Cheka- somewhere on campus.
"Tsuno, is it okay if we pause the Gargoyle excursion for now? I think getting this little one somewhere safe should take priority."
"... The Gargoyles will still be here another day."
"Thank you, Tsuno. You're a good guy."
Malleus seemed to get a somewhat darker tint to his pallid cheeks, his tail curling and waving with your light praise. Cheka finally pulled away from your warm hug, looking around now at the several monster men that stood around the two of you and even at Silver, who you both were riding. His eyes seemed to train on Malleus before returning to you and he almost looked confused, glancing back and forth for a moment.
"Aunta, what are you? You smell like," he paused to sniff at your arms and shoulder, "like a weird Lizard, but you don't look like a Lizard..?"
"Because I'm Human, Cheka."
"Hooman?"
"Close enough."
"Wait, so you're who Dada is here to meet? He said Unca was talking about a Hooman that stays at the school, and that he had to go to a meeting with the Hooman. Mama told Dada to take me along too, and Dada told Unca to watch me while he went to the meeting thingy."
"Okay, so your Dada is one of the representatives. Got it. I'm guessing you're from Sunset Savana?"
"Yeah! That's Dada's Kingdom and it will be my Kingdom some day too!"
"Gotcha. Well, I know where your Dada will be come lunch time, can you wait to see him until then, or do you want to go see him right now?"
"... Well, those meanies aren't here anymore... And you're really nice to me, Aunta, so I can wait to see Dada. Just don't leave me alone again, okay?"
"Okay, I'll stay by your side until we get you back to your Dada."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
Leona slowly woke from a surprisingly peaceful slumber, humming as he came back to consciousness. It was nice to not be woken up for the hundredth time by his nephew. While he slowly woke a question soon floated up in his sleep hazed mind.
Where was the cub?
Usually Cheka's energy was boundless and insatiable in his desire to play, so he should have technically been the one to wake Leona. The fact alone that he wasn't in Leona's immediate line of sight put the Nemean Lion on edge. He didn't fear what his older brother Falena would do to him for losing the cub, he feared what Falena's wife would do.
That fear and concern was what pulled the Lion to his feet and began his increasingly worried search of the greenhouse. There was no trace of the cub.
"Damn that brat! He couldn't just stay in one place for only a few hours?"
Leona snarled as he began the long and arduous task of tracking the cub, following one of countless scent trails in the hopes he could find the Cub before other students did. Most of those at Night Raven College would have a field-day tormenting such a young cub, and he didn't really want to face the wrath of his brother's wife. As annoying as Cheka was, he also didn't want the cub to get hurt because of his negligence.
One thing was for certain though, he would never agree to watch that nuisance again.
~âąÂ§âą~
Your rag-tag herd made their way through the mirror and into the Heartslabyul domain, Cheka looking around in awe at the many different rose bushes and the large swooping architecture. Malleus took the lead, followed by Silver, and Ortho brought up the back of the group. You were very thankful Ortho was there as he seemed to befriend the little cub easily and the two were able to talk about everything and anything.
Though you thought the cub was absolutely precious- and a certain part of your brain wanted to adopt and keep the cub- you knew he would have to go home eventually. That didn't mean you were going to let the cruelty others showed to him go unanswered, however. Trey and Riddle were both supposed to be at their dorms today, or so Ace told you, so you figured you could visit as promised and tell Riddle about those students.
It didn't take long for you to locate the Unicorn and Kelpie, both were at the Heartslabyul lake. Riddle was laying on the grass on the bank of the Lake and Trey seemed to be swimming in the water. When your group approached, you could have sworn you saw Cater laying across the Kelpie's back. The moment you called out to them there was a loud splash, and you didn't see the Water Nymph anymore.
Part of you wondered if Cater was avoiding you due to what happened with the Wolves, but you weren't going to push to befriend the Nymph either. There were still things left unspoken between the two of you. You were still injured, so he couldn't possibly face you after what he did.
"Hey, Riddle, Trey!"
You waved as your group approached the equine students who both looked surprised at your presence in Heartslabuyl.
Riddle was first to stand to greet you, but it was Trey that caught your attention. Slowly pulling himself out of the water, you saw that his typically white coat was a deep lake-green. Fins protruded from the backs of his front legs and it was clear his back legs were one large fin, reminding you of a Hippocampus from Greek mythology. His tail- which was usually a fine strands of green like his usual hair- was now stringy kelp looking fins that flicked off water.
He seemed to struggle for a moment as he pulled himself onto the bank, but the large tail-fin split back into two legs rather quickly, allowing the Kelpie to stand. Apaprently Trey wasn't just a white horse afterall and seemed to actually be a Kelpie as you knew them. It made you vaguely wonder why Kelpies weren't considered dangerous to you, as your home legends of Kelpies usually depicted them eating Humans.
"(Y/n), it's such a relief to see you," Riddle started, drawing your attention back to him, "when we heard you were injured, I feared the worst."
"So I've heard. Don't relax too soon, there are representatives I have to meet today, and apparently they will be deciding if I get to stay here or not..."
"What? Where will you go if they decide you can't stay?"
"I don't know. All I know if I have to meet with them around lunchtime. Trey, thank you again for the pastries, we thought they were delicious. Papa Hades says 'thank you' as well."
This seemed to make the two startle somewhat as clear shock was on both their faces.
"Wait- Hades? As in, one of the Seven Hades?"
"Yup. He's staying at Ramschackle for a bit."
"I mean, I expected the patron protector of Humans to take an interest in you, but I didn't think the rumors of him being on campus were true."
"Yeah. He's actually really nice. He said Trey's pastries were some of the best he's ever had."
Trey smiled at this, looking somewhat wistful as he glanced away. Honestly, he hadn't expected anyone other than you and Grim to eat the pastries, but it made him happy to know one of the Seven liked his family recipie. Maybe it would be a good thing if the Shinigami decided he wanted more pastries from the family of Kelpies. It could certainly help their profit margins.
"Glad to hear he liked them. Also good to see you, you seem to be in high spirits despite everything-"
Trey cut himself off as he realized you were cuddling what looked like a small Nemean Lion cub, his eyes wide in shock.
"Is that-?"
"This is Cheka, he's a Nemean Lion cub. He came here with his father, but his uncle- who I assume is Leona- was supposed to be watching him. We found him being bullied by a bunch of Heartslabyul students."
This made a certain dark look of anger take over Trey's features and you vaguely recalled Ace telling you about Trey's many younger siblings. No doubt the Kelpie was furious students from his dorm were so keen to bully a literal lost child.
"Point out these rule-breakers and it will be off with their heads!"
~âąÂ§âą~
Leona was more than a little stressed as he continued to search, finding what seemed to be the remnants of a scuffle outside of the Greenhouse. Several scents he didn't really recognize mixed with Cheka's scent and led to a large gnarled tree. Obviously some students decided to use little Cheka as sport and this genuinely made Leona start to worry.
At first, he was irritated that the cub had not heeded his warning to stay in the Greenhouse, but if others got a hold of him it was possible Cheka was hurt. Leona didn't like Cheka one bit and hated looking after the nuisance of a cub, but he didn't want the little idiot hurt by any means. It would not only make him feel awful, but it meant the women of his house would turn on him for letting the cub wander off.
He tried to take in as much information as he could despite the many different scents present among the tree. There didn't seem to be the smell or presence of blood, so Cheka was not gravely injured before he left the tree. The only conclusive scent he could distinguish among the many was the scent of the his precious little Mousey.
There were worse people who could have found the cub and Leona hoped his Mousey hadn't gone far with Cheka. Of course, that probably meant the overgrown Lizard was with her, one of his scales being enough proof of his presence among the many. Even if his Mousey was a safe bet to leave Cheka with, he still didn't want to get chewed out by his family for not searching for the cub.
Falena wouldn't let him hear the end of it and neither would Falena's wife. There was also the possibility that Cheka could befriend the little Human and put in a good word for Leona. If the Human liked the cub, he could use the boy to get closer to his Mousey in the future. Turns out Cheka may not be so useless after all.
HAPPY MISTAKE â Logan Howlett
Summary: Not ever, through all the years of your life, you found someone like Logan. Since he arrived at the school, something brought you together like a magnet. Sadly, not everything came out as you wished it would be. Time is not gentle with mutants, and you try so hard to show him your unconditional love before everything is over, but can you finally accept your feelings for each other? Or yours and Logan's tumultuous relationship through the years.
(PART ONE â PART TWO) | GEN MASTERLIST!
Pairing: Logan x mutant!female!reader.
Word count: 9.6k.
Warnings: slow burn, breaking up(?)/making up, heavy angst, hurt/comfort, eventual smut and unprotected everything, language, character death, time travel, Logan hurting reader unintentionally, wounds and blood. Logan being a whore for both Jean Grey and the reader. Reader has slow aging as Logan and looks around mid 30s in my head. Anthropology teacher!reader. Reader can manipulate light (just like Starlight from The Boys). This takes place between different movies from the franchise, from X-Men 1 to DoFP, so spoilers of the movies ahead.
Notes: Long time no write. Life is horrible but somehow I managed to get this in like two months. I love Logan so fucking much now you don't have an idea. This was also written with Happy Mistake by Lady Gaga in mind. If you'd like to be tagged in the second part let me know or let me know your thoughts on this, it's very much appreciated! I suffered a lot writing it .
âNeed any help?â
Logan stopped on his tracks from wandering around the cozy, yet strange place he woke up in. Turning on his feet, he saw your figure standing in the middle of the hallway. He said nothing, but you approached him as you had known him for a very long time.
âI assume youâre the new guy-â
âWhere is she?â Logan abruptly interrupted once you stood inches away from him.
âRogue? Sheâs fine. And you need to take a little rest.â
âI donât need medical attention,â he said, looking around to search for a nearby exit. Before he walked away you took his arm in a soft grip.
He was, as much as you could tell, surprised by your boldness. You gave him no time to process his next movements once you talked again, your voice firm and welcoming in a way he had never felt before.
âPlease, you need to meet Professor Xavier,â you said. âAt least before you go. Itâs totally fine if you wanna leave, I donât recommend it though, but we can offer you a safe place here. We are just like you.â
Loganâs hardened expression relaxed for a moment, sensing no threat coming from you. All he saw in your eyes wasnât pity, nor anger at him being kind of an asshole at first. It was just authority, the good kind where he also had something to say and decide about.
âWhatcha say, Logan?â
He was so immersed in his thoughts before you called his name, thinking it sounded beautiful falling off your lips. You gave him a half smile as he took in each detail of your face, as if he was memorizing every part of it.
It was the first time someone had been nice to him and it felt strangely good.
For some reason, it felt very good coming from you.
â
Logan just found out from the Professorâs mouth the mansion was a school for mutants. Gifted people, he called them. After learning another powerful mutant was behind him and Rogue, he had no other choice but accept the shelter. He didnât like the other guys better, playing the teacher with a bunch of teenagers with special or cursed abilities. But besides Storm and Jean, you were the person who had welcomed him the most, even showing him the place and the room he would stay in.
One late night, you sat at the dining table together. Logan was silently drinking a beer outside school hours so the kids wouldnât see him, and you, reading a bunch of papers from your students that you were missing. He realized how hard you worked, how you would praise your students, how you talked to them outside classes, being the one to actually convince Rogue to enroll in the school. Immediately, he knew you were really something, having much more in common than he thought. And you, living for so long, being both a mutant and a lady for sure had a hard life through time.
âWhat you teach again?â he suddenly asked, breaking the comfortable silence you shared.
âAnthropology,â you answered, giving him a short glance. âI took this at college a long time ago, and Iâve been alive long enough to know a thing or two,â you explained, putting away a paper after putting an A+ on it proudly. âItâs important to understand ourselves, humankind and mutants⊠Itâs a diverse world and there are lots of cultures, languages and societies we donât get to know, but itâs beautiful. I think I like to celebrate what makes us unique. I've had the chance to study some of them around the world since I had the time, yâknow, and itâs truly amazing. Itâs a shame we have to fight between us to make us heard when we could just be kind and empathetic to each other⊠Sorry, you didnât ask but, yâknow, anyway.â
You shook your head with a curve on your lips, going back to the next paper. Logan had taken the sparks in your eyes as you talked. He half smiled to himself once you buried yourself in your papers again, thinking you sounded just like Professor Xavier. No wonder why he took you in. Probably, if things were different for him, he wouldâve found something that could light his face with so much passion just like you did.
âBeen alive for almost two hundred years,â Logan said and you looked up to him. âWe might have things about the past to share,â he drank from his beer. It was your turn to smile back at him.
âYeah, well, Iâve lived both horrible but nice things. Couldnât read or do math without being called a witch,â you chuckled to yourself, but hiding on the inside the awful experiences you had to endure. âSomeday, we could go out and grab a coffee or something,â you said with a playful smile.
A light chuckle left your lips, but you and him knew it wasnât just a joke.
He joined you with a warm smile that lit up his face before disappearing from his lips. âOf course. Count me in.â
â
The sun was shining bright and the weather was great that morning. Some of the students were in the yard playing, having some quality time, and others simply just left to go to the town. It was a good weekend before the next semester started, and it was better now knowing Magneto had been taken to prison after his failed attempt to use Rogue for his plans.
Sipping on your coffee, you saw the students outside. Laughing, running, having a good breakfast picnic. It felt heartwarming just taking this sight, wishing it would always be like this. Your mindful peace was interrupted when Logan entered the kitchen to have a coffee on his own. Visibly, you tensed just a little when he approached you and sat right in front of you at the dining table. The caffeine was not helping at all, you thought.
âMorning,â he greeted you, noticing something was off on you, but hoping it would pass. Maybe you already knew.
âMorningâŠâ your voice came out as a whisper. âHow you feeling?â
âBetter. What about you?â
You gave a small nod. âGood, thanks for asking.â
A silence fell upon you. Not like the ones you used to share in lonely nights where you prepared your classes and Logan just sat down calmly because he couldnât sleep. This time it was different. Words wonât come out of your mouth to ask what was really bothering you. You had grown up to like Logan and enjoy his company, but he had a lot of walls upon him, protecting himself of the world and people around him.
However, you understood why he did it. You both have been alive longer than anyone else. You saw people you love dearly dead, being killed because of your flaws. And you really connected to his idea of protecting people by leaving their side. It was better being away. That was until Professor Xavier recruited you. Here, you had a purpose and you helped young people to become the best versions of themselves. You wished Logan could do the same, stay and see he was more of what he thought of himself, but it wouldnât happen. Right? He had things to sort out on his own.
âAre you leaving soon?â
When you asked the question, Logan knew you had heard something from the Professor. He gave you a nod.
âI need to reconnect with who I was,â he simply answered.
âRight⊠Wish you all the best there.â
Logan had grown to like you over the past few weeks you shared, exchanging experiences and lessons of life you had taken through the years. For a moment, he looked right into your eyes and smiled. He weirdly smiled, and you could swear heâd miss you too once he is away.
But that warm feeling soon faded away once Jean walked into the kitchen, saying good morning and beaming to the both of you. Logan followed her with his gaze, straightening himself on his seat as she served her own breakfast and an extra plate that you already knew was for Scott. She also began putting fruits and snacks inside a picnic basket while looking all happy and settled, and you knew why Logan had fallen in love with her. It was all over his face.
And you wondered how could he act and talk to you so kindly and sweet, and then look at Jean like that. It was a pain in your heart you tried to dissipate. Everyone knew Jean and Scott were a couple, and the fact that Logan had a not so secret crush on her really played on you. It made you feel like a fool and you had too many heartbreaks and hurted people, putting them in danger due to your mutation, to take initiative and start a relationship - or anything of the sort - again.
Scott made his way inside the kitchen, saying hi to both of you - mostly you. And took the tray with their plates as Jean grabbed the basket, but she let Scott leave the kitchen before.
âHave a good trip, Logan,â she said kindly. âI hope to see you around here soon.â
âThank you, Jean.â
She smiled one last time before leaving you all alone, Logan following her with his eyes. Just for a second, you wished he could see you like that underneath his facade.
ïżœïżœ
You had packed your stuff later that day, deciding a little air and a change for one night would do no wrong. Just as you were walking to the main door, Rogue was saying her goodbyes to Logan after giving him a small hug without really touching him. It was a cute sight how Rogue was able to step into his cold heart. She said goodbye to you as well before leaving the entrance.
âYouâre going away too?â Logan asked, rather surprised as you both walked through the door, the sun hitting your skin as soon as you were out of the mansion. He knew your life was at the school.
âJust for the weekend,â you shrug it off.
Logan gave you a nod with a warm smile. âThen have a good trip and enjoy yourself.â
âThanks. I hope you find what youâve been looking for.â
âI hope so too,â Logan answered and before he went to take Scottâs bike, he looked at you hesitantly for a couple of seconds. âWe should go out and grab some coffee once Iâm back.â
Your lips formed a wide smile. âThat sounds really nice.â
For a moment, where time felt like hours and not seconds, you stood right out the door, looking at each other. You wanted him to go first, but he was waiting for you to say something. Probably to ride the bike with him, he could leave you somewhere near your destination and feel you close - just be around you for at least five more minutes. But none of that ever happened.
Instead, you studied his face, looking at his deep eyes, and then his lips - those lips you wanted to kiss so bad before, but never had the courage to do so. You didnât think further, and if something had taken possession over you, you leaned towards him leaving a short, sweet kiss on the corner of his lips.
âTake care,â you mumbled once you pulled away.
Not waiting for his answer, you turned back, pulling your bag to your side stronger than ever and walked the path to the front gates, feeling his gaze all over you until you left the mansion.
He felt such an idiot for not kissing you properly.
â
2003
âI know what I want, but what do you want?â
Mystiqueâs words echoed through his head. Logan left the tent so long ago he didnât know what time it was anymore and the situation kept repeating again and again in his mind. The woman had shifted between Jean, Ororo, and you. The one that icked him the most being Rogue once Mystique had taken her figure in. Storm was a good colleague, Jean was a forbidden love, Rogue was like his little sister, someone he would protect as long as he could, and you⊠you were a different case. When Mystique was about to kiss him wearing your figure, he finally realized he started feeling things he had prohibited himself for a very long time, and he thought he shouldnât. He really shouldnât.
Once or twice you shared experiences about love and partners, but he could tell it hurted you the same way as him. He couldnât burden breaking your heart, or worse, getting you hurt because of what he was. Logan knew you had the same bad luck in the past, but it didnât stop any of you to pull towards each other like a magnet.
âLiving for so long does things to you, Logan. I feel we become more aware of what we are.â
Those words you said to him one time remained in his head like a warning, and he took it personally.
Closing his eyes, he leaned against a hard tree trunk some feet away from the tents where the rest of the X-Men rested. He tried to find some peace alone for a few moments when the sounds of steps approaching alerted his senses. Claws out and ready to attack, he spun around the trunk only to stop in a second.
There you were, a bright light emanating from your hand to illuminate your path in the darkness of the woods.
âLogan?â
Quickly, he withdrew his claws and his body relaxed visibly. âSorry,â he apologized, leaning against the tree one more time.
âAre you okay?â you asked, but you already knew the answer. The exhausted sigh he let out told you everything you needed. You let the soft glow of light floating between you and him, to illuminate both of you under the branches. âYou wanna talk?â
He slowly shook his head, mumbling ânoâ. He became startled in the light floating like a firefly, letting his own issues wash away with your sole company. Ironically, everything that was troubling him was you. Softly, you caressed his arm, taking him out of his own thoughts. Your touch didnât help his poor mind either.
Looking worried about the next mission in Lake Alkali, you feared for him and your team. And your lack of sleep was showing it. But just like Logan, the growing feelings were troubling your head. You had seen him talking with Jean earlier when you landed in the forest - talking too close to your liking once he pulled her for a kiss. But what could you do? Logan was still after Jean even when she had already declined him countless of times, and it didnât really hurt you. It just felt strange inside. Why would he do that while still being nice to you, quitting being a dick when he wanted because he knew youâd snap back at him. And to be honest, Logan looked as if he liked that about you. But he wonât admit it out loud, and of course, you wouldnât ask. Men were so damn complicated.
âWell, I only expect things to not get worseâŠâ you finally said in a soft whisper since he wasnât talking and you stopped your head going further on the matter. And you knew he wouldnât talk soon either. âAnd youâre brave for seeking your past.â
Logan locked his eyes with your own, under the soft light. Your tired gaze, your figure, your aura pulling him like he found a treasure in an abandoned cave⊠He felt so bad for falling for someone like you, who was nothing compared to the crap he was. And then, for the first time in years, he decided to follow his instinct with you.
He leaned towards your figure, his rough hand cupping your cheek gently before pulling you in for a kiss. With a soft sigh you corresponded, your arms around his neck as it turned deeper and harsher. Logan lifted you easily from the ground, your legs tangling around his waist until you felt your back against a rough surface, trapped between the trunk and his body. Soft moans and grunts mingled, your chest pressing against his own, his hips grinding against your crotch. It was obvious you wanted this. Logan desired you so painfully after that day you kissed him goodbye at the mansion, he needed your body and soul. But you had to have answers before giving into the heat of the moment.
Pulling away, you broke the kiss, your forehead resting against his own as you tried to catch your breath. Logan tried to taste you once again, but you placed two of your fingers on his swollen lips.
âWhyâd you kiss her?â
He remained silent, brows furrowed and eyes blown in lust. You didnât make any effort to pull him away. He still had you between his legs, asking a simple question he had no response for.
âWeâre adults here, Logan. Just wanna know why before we go further.â
Logan started to remember. He vividly heard Jean and Mystique voicing out and asking the right question.
âGirls flirt with the bad guy. They take the good guy home.â
âWhat do you want?â
âDo you really want me?â he asked in return.
You lifted an eyebrow at his sudden question. âAnd do you?â
He leaned again for a kiss on your lips, and thankfully for him, you didnât stop it. But he quickly pulled away and inhaled your sweet scent from the skin on your neck, leaving a path of soft pecks, until he nipped the shell of your ear softly. You shivered under his touch.
âIâd love to have you,â he whispered, softly caressing your cheek with his thumb.
âCome to my tent,â you mumbled. âSleep with me. But like, seriously, sleep with me âcause Iâm tired,â you chuckled, hoping to not kill the mood.
Logan smiled for a bit and nodded, pecking your lips one more time before helping you get on your feet on the muddy ground, hands rubbing your sides slowly.
âAs long as I have you by my side itâs alright with me.â
â
Jeanâs death was hard to swallow.
For weeks, students and teachers mourned her, and you felt sorry for Scott for losing his soulmate. Logan was not in the best shape either. He didnât attend her funeral, he never had the guts to stand by her grave either, until now. You stopped right behind him and noticed him sighing, under the afternoon sunset. He was tense because of everything, but when you took his hand out of the pocket of his jacket, he held onto you. Your fingers intertwined together, feeling his life depending solely on you, like a rock he needed to support his whole weight.
The day was about to end, the sun slowly hiding, giving a beautiful painting of orange and purple in the sky. You thought it would soon become an intense thunderstorm due to Ororoâs mourn - something you had gotten used to the last few days.
âShe saved us,â Logan barely mumbled, looking intensely at the grave.
You nodded, even if he could not see you. âCanât blame her, Iâd have done the same.â
Those words cause him to look back at you, wishing itâd be a lie. But inside, Logan knew you really had the guts to sacrifice yourself for others. It was something he remembered both of you talking about some time ago. And you would give everything in your hands to save the ones you love.
Quietly, Logan gave a last glance at Jeanâs grave, and guided you inside the mansion. Classes barely started again due to the circumstances and a few kids could be seen around the halls. You accompanied him to the doors of his room, noticing you had been holding hands the whole time. Probably no one really cared, they were too busy trying to go through the grief of losing a loved one. Slowly, you broke the gesture, taking your hand away and Logan immediately missed the heat and comfort of your hand.
âDo you need anything?â you asked in a low voice.
Looking at you, Logan reminisced how you kissed in the woods, the need and lust for each other that couldnât be. He did sleep in your tent that night, in the comfort of your arms, feeling the warmth of your skin. It was, probably, the first time he had a good, peaceful night of sleep in years. No one had brought that up, but he knew something was there. And he needed to act on it before it was too late.
So he brought up his hands to your face, cupping your cheeks lovingly before planting a kiss on your lips, not caring he was standing in the middle of the hallway where anyone could see what was going on. You leaned against his touch, deepening the kiss until you couldnât catch a breath. When he pulled away, he pressed his forehead into yours, taking in the beauty of your bright eyes and swollen lips. Everything wandering his mind, making a path right into his cold heart was right in front of him.
âYou.â
â
Knocking Professor Xavier's door, you walked inside as soon as his voice announced to come in. You caught your breath seeing Logan by his desk. He just gave you a quick, accomplice glimpse and left the room, closing the door behind. The exchange of glances wasnât unnoticed by Charles.
âHereâs the report on my subject for this last semester, Professor,â you announced, leaving the folder on the wooden desk.
âThank you. Howâs Logan doing?â he asked all of a sudden, checking the door the man had crossed just seconds ago.
âExcuse me?â
âDo you believe he is comfortable helping the kids?â the old man asked again. He was seeing right through you, and you kind of hated every time he used to do that to you. Nothing could be hidden from Xavier; definitely you couldnât hide a single thing for the man who took you in decades ago.
âWhy would I know that?â
He shrugged it off. âWell, you seem very close lately.â
Close was not the best word to describe your relationship with Logan. Yet, you were sleeping on his bed just the night before. The trace of his kisses, the burn of his beard on your skin, his teeth biting softly your breasts, his rough hands all over your hips⊠Every touch he left on your body you could still feel it, and you wanted to think he was not just using you. During the past weeks, you were together. Not quite a relationship-thing was established properly, but it was the closest thing any of you could have as for now.
It was a mixture of grief, pain, and hope that had you both still standing. In the end, you understood what he felt. Being alone and alive for so long and then finding a place where people accepted you for who you were was a whole change, even if some years passed by. Though, the time Logan had been spending at the school was nothing but a blink of an eye compared to his past.
âWhat happened to our team is still affecting us,â you finally said. âI believe we are good friends, yes, weâve been supporting each other. And he doesnât know how to deal with the students yet most of the time, but I try to walk him through it.â
Xavier hummed, smiling at the corner of his lips as he eyed the folder you handed him. âI bet you both do.Thanks for bringing your report on time, as always, and I apologize if I am being intrusive. Just please be careful with the noises both of you make at night, we have kids around here.â
Shit.
You swallowed your pride right there and simply gave a nod, feeling the heat burning up your face.
âWill do, Professor.â
â
A loud gasp escaped your lips as you held for dear life on his broad shoulders, hips snapping against your own. His pace was reckless, keeping you on the edge of sin. Grunts mixed with sweet moans, skin hitting skin again and again every time you felt his cock inside you. If possible, your nails could have already left visible scars and marks on his back, scratching and bleeding off his skin as he fucked you senseless.
Logan sucked on the bare skin on your neck, inhaling your scent, feeling your walls clenching around his girth, his hands roughly grabbing the sides of your hips as you moaned his name, over and over, under the moonlight. He looked at you intensely with loving eyes when you came underneath him, eyes flashing that familiar bright light every time a powerful orgasm hit your body. The vulnerable sight of your figure shaking, eyes closing slowly and biting your lip to keep the pretty noises low, made him reach the sweetest high.
With a grunt, he leaned to attack your lips in a heated, wet kiss to moan against your mouth. Logan pulled back to press butterfly kisses on your jaw, until he reached your breasts, feeling himself soften inside your wet heat. His hips were still thrusting just enough to fill you up at a gentle rhythm. Marking you his and only his.
âFuck, youâre so beautiful,â he mumbled against the sensitive skin of your chest. âRemind me why weâre here again.â
You chuckled softly, fingers tangling on his disheveled hair. You just had prepared a small date night out at the shores of a beautiful lake in the woods. No one could bother you if you were alone, and since your relationship was not so secret anymore, you needed him in a place that wasnât the school. So here you were, laying on your back, fully naked on the picnic blanket, with the Wolverine between your legs, enjoying the calmness of the water, the green grass, the crickets singing around, and the cold of the night.
âPrivacy perhaps?â you whispered as his eyes locked on yours.
Softly you touched his cheek with the palm of your hand and he rolled both of you over, until you laid on top of him, legs straddling his waist and your arms on his shoulders to sit on his lap. Silence took over, his hands soothing your hips and the marks he left on your body from the intense love-making.
âIâm so happy we took a couple of days offâŠâ
You waited for Logan to say something. Anything. You wanted to continue, to tell him how you really felt. Instead, you decided it was better leaving it like this. Logan gave you a nod, pulling you for a short kiss.
âYeah. Me too.â
He wanted to say it out loud, but was too scared to do so.
â
2006
After a couple of long years, the school and the team had to learn how to go through the grief and pain Jean left. Logan had a hard time processing it, just like all your teammates, specially Scott, and of course the students. It didnât stop you from moving on as time went by though, always remembering her for the great person and mind she was. Going forward and keeping fighting is what she wouldâve wanted for everyone, even now that a certain cure for mutants was announced to the public.
You tried to continue your life as a professor at the school, training students, leading young people, and you invited and encouraged Logan to do so countless times. Deep inside, you wished it was you the reason why Logan decided to stay and train young mutants - for you to be the answer to his loneliness. That he knew, for once and all, that he was not alone. You got each other, and you could do something about it. Words unspoken said more than anything, at least you thought so.
It was one of those rare nights where you got some time for yourselves, walking around the city after having a nice and calm dinner. Your shoulders brushed against each other while you walked downtown, your hands hiding inside the pockets of your jacket, protecting them from the cold.
There was a lot on your mind lately, thinking about what you two really were. If there was a stronger feeling in between, or if it was solely because he enjoyed your company and that was it. Both had lived enough to know there was a feeling in the middle. It wasnât just friends with benefits, or co-workers who sleep together three times a week. Something was blooming deep inside you, but you tried to not give it a lot of attention all those years. Still, it felt like it had to be addressed sooner or later, and this could be the time. In the end, you understood each other perfectly. How painful it was, how living longer than anyone was, how you had to leave everything and everyone behind because you were dangerousâŠ
âHave you ever wondered howâd it feel to have a normal life?â your question came out all of the sudden.
âHow come?â He looked at you from the corner of his eye.
You didnât know if his gaze was judging you but you continued anyway.
âLike living a normal amount of years⊠Not having these things, genes that make us different. Or specialâŠâ
Logan suddenly stopped in his tracks and grabbed your arm softly so you could lock eyes together as he asked. âYouâre not thinking of getting that damn cure, arenât you?â
âOf course not!â
âThen whyâd you think that?â
âBecause I never had anyone in my life, Logan,â you spat, pulling your arm away from his grip. âIâve been alive for so long but I canât promise myself a future. A real one. Not anything, it doesnât matter if I live forever. Every person I loved before perished.â
Those words shook him out of the rough façade showing on his face. Your gaze told a hundred different stories when he studied your face every time. It was like mirroring himself at some point. You were the first person he ever got to know that has lived as long as he has, and maybe it was the sentimentalism, but he tried to push away those wishes of settling down. Of trying to be normal. Because he was not, and maybe, just maybe, you just didnât accept it like he did. Probably, he was just giving up. But you werenât, even after hundreds of years of disgrace continuously happening.
âI thought youâd get this, Logan.â
You mumbled, taking him out of his trance.
âWell, I do, in a way,â he said, but sounded more like an excuse for himself.
âThen why donât you say it?â
âWha-â
âJust say it,â you repeated and pointed between you and him. âWhat is this for you? What are we?â
Logan grabbed on your shoulders gently and leaned towards you, stealing a kiss on the sidewalk, a kiss you obliged with a bittersweet feeling for some reason, but then he whispered. âDarling, youâre everything to me now.â
Yet, you smiled and kissed him back, feeling his lips curve against your own. Well, that wasnât so hard was it?
â
Needless to say, after the last date, your relationship with Logan had evolved to something more domestic, considering you lived together in your workplace. Affection, holding hands, quick kisses were shared now a little more freely, and you had received a couple of jokes and teases from some students and Storm. But it was fine as long as you had cleared your path with Logan, even if he didnât act like a partner sometimes.
The certain calmness you felt one day disappeared when Logan and Ororo went to look for Scott, who often had these sad thoughts, and since Jean was his partner, it was thoroughly complicated for him to say the least. When Logan and Ororo came back to the mansion, it was not what you expected to see. Jean was alive and Scott was gone.
It hurted you, knowing first hand that their love wouldnât be anymore. You met both of them when they were so young, becoming something like their mentor when they used to learn how to control their powers and how to fit in this world that loathed mutants to death. Now, the school was something else. It was a big, special place that was not the same without the brains of Jean, or the enthusiasm and leadership of Scott. Things were different, they had to change because the circumstances told so, and everyone had a difficult time adapting to it. One thing after another left you tired, with no option to run away, even if you wanted to. The complicated circumstances and the relationship you shared with Logan were no help either.
While on your way to check on Jean, who was still under observation after a couple of days, you stopped in your tracks when the heavy door of the med bay slid. Logan, looking all out of his daily self and mad, found you at the entrance, and you felt something different emanating from him.
For what you could see behind him, Jean was still asleep, and the Professor called Logan to come back with a serious voice, but he ignored the older man, instead approaching you.
âYou knew, didnât you?â Logan grasped your arm, his tone lower and deeper than usual.
You quickly pulled off his grip and hissed. âWhat are you talking about?â
âJean.â
You felt silent. Of course she was anything he could think of since they found her.
âYou knew he was controlling her,â Logan went on and your heart skipped a beat.
The look in your eyes told everything but lies. Logan scoffed and walked away, leaving you standing alone under Professor Xavierâs gaze.
âIâll talk to him,â you mumbled at your mentor before following Logan, trying to keep his pace until he reached his room.
The whole way you tried to keep it professional, greeting students as normally you would, but when you crossed his door it was impossible to continue with the facade.
âLogan-â
âHeâs insane,â he snapped, putting his jacket on and taking his bag out.
âEverything that was done was meant to protect her,â you responded calmly as he placed a handful of clothes inside the bag.
âNo, you did it because you are disgusting. I bet this is what shouldâve been for me if I refused to cooperate with your circus or something.â
âYou donât know what she is capable of-â
âYeah, well I donât wanna hear it anymore. This is so fucked up, even for you,â he continued, bag on his hand taking long strides until you were almost touching noses.Â
You scoffed, trying to laugh at the irony. âWhat does that even mean? Do you know how horrible it is to be controlled by the Phoenix inside her?.â
Logan rolled his eyes, not wanting to hear another poor excuse. You continued anyway, looking straight in his eyes before he could leave you hanging with your own words. Exactly like he used to do every damn time when you had an argument. Today, he wouldnât run away that fast.
âShe could kill you in a second and wonât hesitate. For her, weâre nothing. Weâre not rivals, we canât do shit. The only thing we could do was keep her alter ego somewhere hiding inside her mind, or else we wouldnât be here arguing about something you never witnessed. Because I did and you donât wanna see that, trust me,â you spat at him. He breathed rage at your words and you knew that it was getting on his nerves seeing the way his hands turned to fists. âAnd you think this version of her cares for you? Or that she loves you? Jean is gone now, Logan, fucking get over it.â
With last harsh words, you turned around and left the room, closing the door with a thud.Â
Logan breathed out. He wanted to scream, hit something, run away⊠Anything to let it out. He was a reckless mess but how could he react and accept Charles was playing with Jeanâs mind? And you fucking knew all this time and didnât say anything? Were his feelings dirty on him right now? Probably. Shit, he took years to finally tell you the truth about his love and affection towards you. He spent months trying to find the right words just to say âI love youâ, and still, it seemed it wasnât enough. The forbidden love he felt for Jean never disappeared, and he felt guilty for it.
â
You walked down to the med bay after calming down for a bit. You only needed to check on Jean for a moment and see how she was doing. Years prior, you had witnessed what the Phoenix was capable of, so you didnât really question Charlesâ methods when it came to hide this dangerous side of her inside her mind. You also thought your words might have been a little harsh on Logan, but it was the truth. He didnât know who the Phoenix was and, if his feelings for Jean resurfaced after believing her being dead, then it wasnât on you. As much as you loved him, as much as you tried and somehow managed to move on together, he was so easily dragged to her.
The anger you felt before took over you once again, as you found the metal doors of the lab in debris. Quickly, you made your way inside the room and found Jean wasnât there and that Logan was lying unconscious on the floor. You knelt down by his side, calling him over and over and touching his face and shaking his shoulders until he finally opened his eyes slowly, coming back to reality.
âLogan, what happened?â
âShe⊠she killed Scott. The Phoenix,â he whispered. You could tell he was a little weak and out of breath.
âYouâre lucky she just ran away,â you pointed out, helping him to sit down. His eyes were lost in the mess in the room. Tools were destroyed, test tubes broken, crystal was everywhere, and Jean left the reminder of kissing him, yet again, before she escaped. God, he felt so idiotic.
âIâm sorry,â Logan said, looking at you. âSorry for being a jerk. Itâs my fault.â
Taking his cheeks between your hands, you gave him a reassuring look. âWeâre gonna find her, okay?â
He nodded. âYeah, weâll find her.â
âCome here, we need to alert Charles,â you said, helping him to stand up.
Inside, you knew he wouldnât really need your help. He was strong and indestructible like the metal on his skull, but he seemed really taken back, and you decided to stay by his side, holding his hand strongly as a way to say sorry as well. It was kind of difficult to see Logan in that state of mind, confused and lost, and you wondered what had happened back there in the lab as you left him in his bedroom, ordering him to rest for a while.
âIâll be right back,â you assured him with loving eyes.
Logan nodded, following your figure stepping out the room and disappearing in the hallway.
He let out a breath he didnât know was holding. His mind was having a hard time and his heart felt like breaking, going in two opposite directions, and he hated himself for that. His fate was always the same: losing people he loved and cared for dearly. So seeing Jean back again was as if god or anything up there remembered he existed and brought her back just for him. Or maybe he was just being selfish because he already had you.
You were everything for him. A couple of years might be just a short glimpse for both of you, but he was able to feel peace and calm next to you, and he was sure you did as well. Because some nights, that was all you could talk about. Logan didnât mind hearing you for hours, it reminded him he was alive. With you, but his stupid instinct had to act.
It was his fault Jean had left. The kiss, the whole act of embracing each otherâs bodies for at least two minutes, and then her breakdown, begging for him to kill her⊠All of that was enough to bring out the beast inside her. And he felt such a jerk now for following his desires. He already had you. Wasnât that enough?
His thoughts were interrupted once you arrived again, finding him sitting at the end of the bed exactly as you had left him there. Sensing something different on him, you sat down by his side and rubbed his hand gently.
âWe might know where sheâs going,â you whispered.
âIâll go,â Logan said before you could finish.
âIâm not sure if I should ask, but are you okay? You could do some rest,â you suggested, since seeing the redhead was clearly getting some kind of reaction from him.
âNo, I need to go,â he said. But Logan could read your face perfectly, and he knew you didnât really like the idea of him leaving the mansion. You turned your eyes, scanning the room and avoiding his gaze.
You had the need to ask what exactly had happened back there with Jean, but you didnât want to start a fight either. Feeling Loganâs hand on your shoulder, he leaned to kiss your forehead goodbye. Maybe you were the one who should stay, check the kids, the schoolâŠ
âItâll be fine,â he mumbled, voice low and deep, as if trying to convince you, but himself as well. You nodded with your arms around his neck, giving him a hug that felt like some sort of apology you werenât able to say out loud. âDonât worry, itâll be fine.â
And how youâd wish things would be fine.
â
The school has been very quiet lately. Too silent even for his taste. At nights like these, he could still feel the vigor and presence of the students running around, grabbing something to eat, planning to go out for a while... Instead, Logan found himself in a place that was mourning. Grieving the loss of Jean, Scott and Charles.
The feelings inside were complicated. He didnât really feel the same, and the disgrace and remorse of his actions were growing on him. They were still haunting him; every day, every single night. You knew it too. It was impossible to ignore the nightmares each time he woke up from seeing Jeanâs lifeless body fall against his own after he gave what she wished for the most: death.
And then, there was you. He noticed how difficult it was getting for you to sleep. You tried to hide your sorrow into your work, studying even more, keeping yourself busy with the school and not thinking about anything else. Since Charles was gone, Ororo took his place and you were her second hand. But you pushed yourself too hard.
Tonight he found your bedroom empty. He didnât find you on his either, so he went to the place he knew you would be: your classroom. The door was half opened, the dim light of the lamp on your desk barely illuminated the papers on the surface. He found you deeply concentrated reading on something, hands on the sides of your head hiding your face.
âHey,â he softly mumbled, stepping inside the empty classroom.
You quickly straightened yourself on the chair, wiping your cheeks and tried to look decent for a moment.
âHey,â you replied back, low voice.
âCome to bed,â he said, coming to stand before you, his hand on your shoulder comforting and soothing you, making its way to the side of your neck. His big palm on your cheek, caressing the skin stained with your tears as if it was the most delicate thing. He took a look at the mess of papers and old books you loved too much to get rid of, scattered on the wooden surface.
âNo, I- I canât. Need to finish these by tomorrowâŠâ
Logan gave you a nod and a grimace before taking your hand, motioning to come closer. You stood up, knowing he was trying to get you out of the work that was consuming you.
He observed every feature on your face, the sadness in your stare couldnât be hidden. He just knew you too well, just like the palm of his hand, and he wanted to make you forget. At least for a little. You had taken care of him, helped him with your presence and your unique aura, bringing him comfort and peace to his broken mind. He wanted you to be fine. To feel loved.
Logan leaned just exactly to brush his lips with your own, teasing a kiss that he longed too much, his hands around your waist pulling you towards him.
âCan you just let me take care of you?âÂ
Swallowing hard the knot on your throat, you curled your lips as much as the grief let you. âYes,â you nodded.
With this, Logan leaned until your lips connected. Your arms around his neck pulled him as closer as you could get, feeling his chest against your own, his strong hands around your waist, softly touching you above your clothes.
Logan slowly walked you until your back hit the desk, hands roaming on your ass down to your legs, placing you to sit down over the loose pages. It might ruin the work a little, but none of you cared. Everything in your head was him, between your legs, running his wet mouth down your jaw, his stubble burning your skin as you gasped gently. Lying on your back on the desk, he began descending down your breasts, unbuttoning your blouse until he exposed you to the cold of the room.
He stopped right on your trousers, and gave you a quick glance. You were so eager, wet already. He could sense it. Your eyes were glowing and you were already trying to catch your breath by just his kisses and touch.
âYou locked the door?â you whispered.
âDamn right I did,â he voiced, hoarse and low voice from just thinking of railing you right there and then.
âThen donât stop.â
At your command, he unzipped your trousers, letting them fall down along with your heels on the floor. He then leaned to take your lips in a sloppy kiss, more urgent this time of feeling you close. You moaned, nails scratching his skin. His calloused hands explored your bare legs and things, creating friction with his hips with slow, controlled thrusts against your crotch. Logan left a trail of kisses down to your breasts, licking and tasting the saltiness of your body.
You urged him to go down where you ached the most, hand tangling on his hair. His hands grabbed the back of your thighs, spreading to him until his nose was almost buried on your panties, smelling and taking the sweetness of your scent, licking softly with his wet tongue over the fabric. A trail of moans and curses left your lips. He pulled your panties aside before diving in your pussy, licking your folds and teasing your hole with two of his fingers.
âLoganâŠâ
His name repeatedly left your mouth like a plea, his fingers now inside you, stretching your walls for him. The noises grew obscene and nasty as he ate you out like a sweet craving he had been denying himself the pleasure for so long.
He was growing hard just by hearing your whimpers, and he needed you. You always were a fucking longing for him. Your words, your intelligence, your beauty⊠Everything he needed, you had it. And still, he didnât have any idea of how such a rational, smart woman like you learned to love him so deeply.
You tugged on his hair, hips thrusting up to meet his growling mouth. You were so close, felt almost there where you wanted, but he pulled away before you finished.
Logan unzipped his jeans leaning back, admiring your blissed out eyes and glistened figure.
âCome here,â you begged in a whisper, tangling your legs around his waist.
He let out a low, dirty chuckle, feeling your hands on his boxers, freeing his erection.
âSo fucking eager,â Logan breathed kissing your lips, hands supporting his weight at the sides of your head on the desk.
You tasted yourself within the kiss and you moaned at his words, your hand pumped him just enough to feel his pre cum leaking already, lining his dick with your cunt. Inch by inch, he entered slowly so you could get used to his size. Logan pecked your lips gently, kissing your cheeks and the side of your neck to get into your sensitive skin. You tugged on his white shirt so he could remove it and he ripped your bra apart right after. He loved to feel your chest pressed against his own. You gasped but paid no mind, instead urging him to move inside you.
âShit, Logan please-â
A particular harsh trust caught your breath on your throat. You held onto dear life with your hands on his shoulders. He pounded into you rock hard and deep. So damn deep the desk was shrieking under, papers fell off and the lamp moved at the same rhythm but you hoped it wonât break.
Logan growled, inhaling your scent and tasting the sweat forming on your collarbone, your breasts bouncing against his chest. He felt your nails trailing down his back, and oh, how he wished he could get damn scars on just by fucking you like this. But the view of you, squirming under him, eyes closed, being a whimpering mess⊠All because of him. He was so insanely in love with your fucked out expression every time.
Your walls clenched, close to the sweet end. Logan felt himself twitching inside your warm pussy and his thrusts were getting erratic and sloppy. He filled you up, reaching his own climax first, hot white ropes of cum painting your insides. Your pussy milked him all the way as he kept spliting you open until you let yourself go, legs trembling around his waist.Â
For a moment, you stayed like this, with him kissing your shoulder and caressing your thigh, taking in the aftermath of your intense lovemaking.
âThank youâŠâ
Your whisper forced him to look up at you. There it was, that loving, sweet gaze you had reserved just for him.
He nodded, palm on your jaw holding you gently. âOf courseâŠâ
For some reason, he wanted to voice out for once those stupid three words.
I love you.
Or at least hoped you would do it first.
â
The night was cold under the moonlight, almost freezing. He wondered how he got trapped there, between the messy, withered shrubbery, fog, and the trees of a forest he never recalled knowing. He was alert, senses to the limit in case something might attack him. He felt as if he was being watched, but there were no eyes he could find around. He couldnât see much like that.
But then a voice started to call his name from afar, claws coming out immediately as he sharpened his senses to find the owner. One, two, three times he heard, trying to find the person who was calling but there was only darkness. His heart skipped a beat when someone spoke behind him.
âLoganâŠâ
He turned on his feet and he felt like dying again. âJean?â
He withdrew his claws back immediately. The redhead smiled, coming closer until she touched his cheek with a soft hand before pulling away. âHow are you, Logan?â
âWhat-â
âAre you happy now?â she asked, beaming brightly as if they were in a casual conversation instead of the darkness of the woods.
His brows furrowed. She couldnât be real. She wasnât there with him. Jean was gone, he had killed her because it was what she wanted. It was her way out to get what she needed; it was the key to her freedomâŠ
âWhat do you mean?â
âWith her⊠Be careful. You could kill her. Just like me,â Jean whispered, tears forming in her eyes.
Logan stepped back, trying to get away. He shook his head in disbelief, not knowing exactly why Jean was saying this to him.
âNo⊠Youâre not realâŠâ
âEverything you love is destined to death and chaos, Logan. You shouldnât be there,â Jean continued, her eyes switching from her usual tone to a deep black. The ground began trembling under their feet with each step of her, wind building up around. Logan felt truly scared, but somehow he couldnât run, just stand there as she approached. âAll she will know is a life of suffering if you stay. She doesnât need that.â
âJean-â
âShe doesnât need you!â
âJean!â
And then it happened so fast. His claws buried on her chest, the Phoenix disappearing and leaving her to die. Jean collapsed against his body and Logan reminisced about the events of that battle, where he had to choose to be selfish or liberate her from her own demons. Logan wasnât sure why he stabbed her like this. And when he thought Jean was dead in his arms, she started to call his name again. This time, he heard it far away.
Logan.
Logan.
LoganâŠ
Logan!
His eyes went wide open. And there you were, by his side on the bed, calling for him with a pain grimace on your face. His claws buried on your stomach.
âLoganâŠâ you gasped and he pulled the claws out, but you were already bleeding, your nightshirt and the mattress stained.
âShit, Iâm so sorry, Iâm sorry- I-â
âItâs okay,â you managed to say as he caressed your cheek before taking you in his arms hurriedly and quickly made the way out of your room through the halls. âThe nightmares⊠I know, LoganâŠâ
âGod, Iâm so sorry, please forgive me. Hank!â Logan stood outside the scientistâs door. âHank, I need your help!â
The commotion caused some of the students to peek from their doors, and Logan waited outside what he felt it was forever under the gazes of the teenagers. It wasnât the first time he had caused the same accident. The door opened, finally revealing a sleepy Hank putting his glasses on.
There was no need to explain what had happened.
â
âSheâll be stable soon,â Hank informed once he let Logan inside the med bay. âIf you hadnât brought her soonâŠâ
Logan swallowed the knot on his throat, watching your unconscious figure on the stretcher. You already had received blood to cover up what you lost because of the wounds, and Loganâs claws were not minor weapons. His mind was a mess, confusion taking over. He didnât know how he let this happen. He had nightmares pretty often, yes, but nothing like this.
Maybe Jean was right. Maybe she was trying to warn him about something. Or Jean was just trying to protect you from him. The last one felt more realistic. Logan wouldnât hurt you, not ever. You talked about how dangerous it was to sleep together not so long ago, but you had insisted on staying. It was the first time something felt so damn real in his dreams and he wished you wouldnât let him in your room that nightâŠ
âSheâll wake up, right?â Logan asked.
âAbsolutely,â Hank nodded. âI will need to monitor her vital signs though, hopefully within a day or two she will be normal again⊠At least sheâll be stable until the wounds heal completely.â
Of course, Logan thought. You didnât have a healing factor just like him.
âIâll be right back,â Hank announced before stepping out of the room, leaving Logan alone.
He felt so guilty for doing this to you. For everything. For being the cause of your suffering now. He was a threat and mentally unstable. He was strong thanks to his genes, but he was weak on the inside. He promised countless times to protect you, but he couldnât avoid hurting you himself. It didnât matter that it was a very bad dream that felt disgustingly real, he had failed and hurted someone who truly loved. Again.
Taking your hand gently into his, he leaned to plant a kiss on your forehead, wishing it would be just another game from his mind.
But it wasnât. Now, he had the person he loved the most lying unconscious and hurted because he would let his darkest thoughts consume him.
âIâm sorry,â he mumbled, watching you sleep peacefully. âI should have said it sooner.â
creds. to nagi for sending me the story âĄ
Due to the effects of an extract derived from Queen of The Night flowers, the Cursed Ones had a change in appearance.
Amidst all that, someone grabbed my arm and pulled me into an empty room.
âŠ
The moment I entered the room, I frantically looked around to see the identity of that person. He was none other thanâ
Kate: RingâŠ?Â
The uncertainty in my voice was because he looked different from usual.Â
Ring had a pair of animal ears on his head, and a beautiful tail on his bottom.Â
On top of that, those eyes that were usually calm and the colour of a waterâs surface were dyed red.Â
Ring: Um⊠sorry for dragging you along without explanation.Â
Despite the change in eye colour, the intensity of his gaze remained the same.Â
Under that gaze, even though I wasnât guilty of anything, I felt flustered.Â
Ring: But in order to protect, there was no other way.Â
Kate: To protectâŠ?Â
Ring: To protect Nica and Dari, I had to take you away.
(... Ah, it's those two from Vogel.)Â
It was embarrassing that for a moment, I thought he meant that he was trying to protect me.Â
Ring: Itâll be trouble if something were to happen to you from going near Nica and Dari who are acting weird now.Â
Kate: âSomethingâ...?Â
Ring: Y-you want me to say itâŠ!? Itâs, you know, that sort of erotic thingâŠ!Â
(Erotic thingâŠ)Â
Kate: Uhh⊠even if you weren't concerned about that, I would never do such a thing to those two, you know?
Kate: Besides, Iâm worried about everyone who had their appearances changed, so I want to head backâŠÂ
Ring: S-stuff like being worried⊠y-youâre always so casually saying such adorable thingsâŠÂ
Ring: Itâs just as I thought⊠even if you donât have that sort of intention, just being near you is dangerous.Â
Ring: Doesn't matter how you think. I can't allow you near them.Â
Kate: But if you do this⊠wonât you be in danger yourself for being closed in the same room as me?Â
Ring: Thatâs not a problem at all.Â
Kate: ⊠Why so?Â
Ring: Even if I get seduced by you, I donât know how toâ...Â
Ring: A-anyway! It just wonât be a problem!Â
Kate: W-whaâŠ
Ring: Whatever it is, I wonât allow you to appear before Nica and Dari until this whole situation resolves.Â
Ring: You MUST remain where my eyes can see you. Got it?Â
While saying that, Ring went to sit in front of the door like he was going to physically block me from leaving the room.Â
(Looks like itâll be hard to talk him out of this.)Â
(But I don't want to sit here idling while Ring keeps an eye on meâŠ)Â
(What can I do in this situation⊠oh, right!)Â
Kate: Ring. If you don't mind, can I examine you?
Ring: Examine meâŠ?Â
Kate: Roger said that there are still many things unknown about the Queen of The Night flower.Â
Kate: So Iâm thinking that if I examine someone who went through the change, itâll be helpful for the other Cursed OnesâŠÂ
Ring: Helpful for Cursed Ones⊠in that case, being cooperative temporarily shouldn't be a problem⊠I think.Â
Ring: ⊠Got it. I donât mind if itâs myself youâre examining.Â
Kate: Thank you so much! Can I start with touching the places that changed?Â
Ring: These ears and tail? Well, those arenât any weird parts so it should be fineâŠÂ
Kate: Okay then. Pardon me.
I touched the pair of animal ears on Ringâs head.Â
Kate: The fur is thin and soft⊠very much like Aleâs ears. These are dog ears.Â
Ring: I- I seeâŠÂ
Kate: Can you sense it when I touch them?Â
Ring: ⊠Yes.Â
(So they have sensory functions and arenât purely ornamental. In that caseâŠ)Â
I moved closer to Ringâs dog ears and whispered.
Kate: Can you hear meâŠ?Â
Ring: Uwagh! D-donât whisper in my ear all of a suddenâŠ!Â
Kate: I-Iâm sorry! I thought Iâd examine if you could hear through themâŠÂ
Ring: N-no, it'd be fine i-if you told me beforehand⊠I was just a little surprisedâŠÂ
Ring: Uhh⊠I could hear your voice through the ears. ⊠You can continue examining.Â
Seeing how frightened Ring was, I figured that continuing with the examination would cause him distress.Â
In the corner of my eye, I noticed something shaking.Â
(... Hm?)Â
I took a better look at it and saw that Ringâs tail was wagging vigorously.
(Tail wagging is what a dog does when itâs happy, right?)Â
(Could it be⊠whispering in Ringâs ear made him happyâŠ?)Â
Ring: ⊠Robin?Â
Ring tilted his head and stared at me as I stood there deep in thought. At the same time, his tail kept on wagging non-stop.Â
(Maybe Ring didnât notice it himself⊠Iâll give it another try.)Â
My initial plan was to do a proper examination, but my curiosity and mischief got the better of me.Â
Kate: I whispered into your right ear earlier, so Iâll try it on the left ear this time.
Ring: Y-yeah⊠sure.
I moved to his other side from behind and gently put my lips close to Ringâs left dog ear.Â
Kate: ⊠Ring.
Ring: UWAHâŠ!Â
The instant I whispered into it, Ring jumped back in surprise.Â
Kate: A-are you okay?Â
Ring: My ears arenât okay⊠my dog ears⊠did they melt?Â
Kate: MeltâŠ? No, they look the same as before.Â
(... Only that his tail is now wagging even harder.)
Ring still didnât notice his tail wagging faster than oneâs eyes could catch.Â
It looked exactly like Ale getting a tasty snack.Â
Ring: Hearing your voice and feeling your slight breath against my ear⊠felt like my ear was going to melt offâŠÂ
Ringâs face was bright red as he covered the dog ears with his palms.Â
(As I thought, the ears are sensitive⊠although it's for the purpose of examining this strange phenomenon, I ended up doing something naughty.)Â
Ring: âŠ
Ring: sigh⊠youâre sly indeed.
Kate: HuhâŠ?Â
Ring: Itâs unfair that Iâm the only one feeling embarrassed here.Â
Ring: ⊠Can I touch your ears too?Â
Kate: My earsâŠ?Â
I was surprised by the unexpected question, and he gently touched my ears with his fingertips.Â
Kate: âŠ!Â
Ring: Even your ears⊠are small and soft⊠cuteâŠÂ
Kate: I-I donât think my ears are cute or anything like thatâŠ
Ring: Thatâs what Iâd been thinking until now. ⊠But everything about you is cute.Â
He only touched my ears, but Ring was staring so fervently at meâŠÂ
I felt loved all over, not just my ears.Â
(T-this is embarrassingâŠ)Â
It got too awkward and I tried to avert my gaze, butâŠÂ
Ring: ⊠What are you looking at apart from me?Â
Ring: Iâm the sole other person here, so youâll look only at me.Â
Kate: âŠÂ
Hearing his plea in that heartrending voice, I could no longer take my eyes off him.Â
(Besides⊠his tail was now wagging really hard.)Â
Kate: U-umm⊠did you really enjoy it that much?Â
Ring: ⊠E-e-en-enjoy!?Â
Kate: You were wagging your tail so much while touching my ears⊠Iâm not sure if you have a thing for ears orâŠÂ
Ring: I-I donât especially like earsâŠÂ
Ring: Or should I say, what was that about my tailâ...!?Â
Ring finally noticed just how hard his tail was wagging.Â
Ring: Ahh, t-thatâs notâŠ! It⊠itâs just shaking on its ownâŠ!Â
He tightly grabbed the base of the tail in an effort to stop it, but it was fruitless.Â
Ring: GghâŠ! You ARE dangerous after all! This is my own body, and yet itâs not listening to meâŠ!Â
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
Dariusâ Voice: Ring, I heard a voice⊠are you in there? Iâm coming in.Â
Darius: Here you are, Ring. Miss Fairytale Keeper is here too.Â
Ring: Dari, no! Her eyes are dangerous!Â
Darius: ⊠What do you mean?Â
Ring: If you look into them, youâll get sucked in and your tail will start waggingâ whatever, itâs just dangerous!Â
Darius: I donât feel anything at all. Aren't you the only one getting spellbound by her, Ring?Â
Ring: W-what do you mean spellboundâŠ!Â
Darius: Either way, you shouldn't be alone with her if she makes you feel uneasyâŠ
Darius: Wouldnât it be better to stay somewhere everyone can keep an eye on her?Â
Ring: T-thatâsâŠÂ
Darius: ⊠You see, Ring. Iâm concerned about you the same way you are about me.Â
Darius: Thatâs because weâre family, isnât it?Â
Ring: ⊠Yeah.Â
Darius: Come on, let's go. Nicaâs waiting for us.Â
Ring, who was led out of the room by Darius, looked at me as though he had something to say⊠but he left without a word in the end.Â
His tail, which had been wagging energetically just a moment ago, was now hanging limply.Â
(Like a dog feeling lonely after being separated from its ownerâŠ)Â
(... No, no, no. If I have to put it that way, wouldn't Ringâs owner be Darius?)Â
(Stuff about feeling lonely after being separated from me⊠it must be a misunderstanding.)Â
= Flashback Start =
Darius: Under the effects of the flower, just like on the night of the Queen of The Night flower, our sins are heightened.
Darius: ⊠Ringâs sin is âjealousyâ.Â
Darius: So even if Ringâs words and actions come off as suggestive today⊠itâs because unlike ordinary people such as yourself, weâre Cursed Ones.Â
Darius: Donât get the wrong idea, Miss Fairytale Keeper.Â
Kate: U-understoodâŠ
= Flashback End =
(It was indeed as Darius said. Ring only touched me because of his curseâs sinâŠ)Â
(ButâŠ)Â
On this night when everything was turned into chaos due to the Queen of The Night flower, my feelings aren't influenced by anything because Iâm not cursed.
So that means⊠my heart racing because of Ringâs honest gaze and his hot fingertips touching my earsâ were undeniably real, even on this chaotic night.Â
evan'scence / lee heeseung
your boyfriend, heeseung likes leaving public junctions to be alone with you and only you genre fluff
The party was already in full swing when you and Heeseung arrived, the sound of upbeat music blending with laughter and chatter. It was one of those gatherings where the room seemed too full, buzzing with energy, and people drifted in and out of conversations like bees to flowers. Heeseung had been invited by a friend he hadnât seen in months, and as his plus one, youâd agreed to come along, half for the fun and half because you knew heâd light up any room he walked into.
But as soon as you both stepped inside, you felt itâHeeseungâs subtle resistance, the way his hand gripped yours a little tighter. You caught the look in his eyes: soft, familiar, and a touch restless. He was scanning the room, nodding and greeting people politely, but he kept leaning closer, brushing his lips against your ear.
âLetâs get out of here,â he murmured, barely hiding a smile.
You raised an eyebrow. âWeâve only been here for five minutes, Hee.â
âExactly. Thatâs five minutes too long,â he countered, eyes glinting with mischief.
You laughed and gave him a light push, watching as he pretended to pout before being pulled into a conversation with a group of old friends. He kept glancing at you, his gaze speaking louder than words. Whenever the chatter lulled, heâd turn to you with an expression that said, Ready now? Youâd shake your head with a grin, and heâd sigh dramatically before turning back, only half-engaged.
The cycle repeated itself over and over. Youâd be talking to someone, and heâd suddenly be next to you, leaning on your shoulder and whispering, âThink theyâd notice if we disappeared?â
âHeeseung,â you scolded playfully, swatting him away. But you knew, deep down, that the crowded room wasnât where he wanted to be. His friends were great, but he thrived in moments that were quieter, moments that were just the two of you.
About an hour in, he gave up on subtle hints. âPlease, Y/N?â He dragged out the words, leaning in so his lips brushed your cheek. His voice was a low, melodic plea only you could hear over the noise.
You looked up at him, catching the hopeful light in his eyes. Youâd seen it a hundred times beforeâon lazy mornings when he wanted to stay tangled in bed, on late nights when he suggested impromptu walks. He wasnât just asking to leave; he was asking for the comfort of your shared world, the quiet space you both cherished.
âAlright, letâs go,â you finally relented.
His face split into a wide smile, and he took your hand, weaving through the crowd with practiced ease. A few friends called after him, but he only waved and mouthed, âNext time!â before stepping out into the cool, crisp air of the night.
The walk home was peaceful, the city lights casting a golden glow on the pavement. Heeseung draped his arm around your shoulders, pulling you closer as he hummed a tune you recognized as one of your favorite songs. Heâd always been like that, effortlessly weaving little moments of affection into the ordinary.
When you reached your apartment, Heeseung dropped the keys on the table with a soft clatter. Before you could kick off your shoes, he was behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist and resting his chin on your shoulder.
âHome is so much better,â he said softly, pressing a kiss to the side of your neck.
You tilted your head, letting out a content sigh. âI thought you wanted to go out and socialize tonight.â
âI did. Until I realized Iâd rather be here, with you,â he replied, spinning you around to face him. His eyes held that deep, tender look that always made your heart skip a beat. âStay with me?â he added, as if youâd ever say no.
Without waiting for a response, he led you to the couch, where a pile of cozy blankets and pillows awaited. Heeseung was a cuddle bug, always needing to be close, and tonight was no exception. He pulled you down with him, adjusting the blanket around both of you and resting his head against yours.
âComfy?â he asked, a hint of a smile in his voice.
âVery,â you replied, snuggling closer as his arms tightened around you. The steady rise and fall of his chest, the warmth of his embraceâit all melted away the noise of the party, the busy streets, and the world outside.
âI donât want this to end,â he whispered after a while, his voice barely audible above the soft hum of the city through the window.
âIt doesnât have to,â you said, lacing your fingers with his. âNot as long as we have each other.â
Heeseung shifted, pressing a soft kiss to your forehead. âYouâre my favorite person, you know that?â
âAnd youâre mine.â Eventually, you drifted off in his arms, feeling safer and more loved than ever.
