Since there's a lot of talk of new users joining Tumblr, I thought I'd give a couple quick tips of how we do things here in the KotLC fandom specifically! So, without further ado:
We don't do ship wars. If you try to argue about ships or insult the ships/characters you don't like, you're just going to get blocked by a lot of people. We all like to enjoy our interests in peace, and if we don't like a ship, we just mute the tag and move on.
With all of that said, Wylinh and other ships that involve an adult (like Wylie) and a minor (like Linh) are not welcomed. More on that: Wylie was 21 in Lodestar (it's mentioned that he was eight thirteen years ago) when Linh was a level four (which generally corresponds with being about 14), so they may have as large as a seven-year age gap. And when you consider in addition that elvin age is about one year more than human age, you're basically shipping characters that met at 13 and 20—see the problem? At the very least, please tag #wylinh for all related content so that those who don't want to see it don't have to.
If you DO have critical thoughts on a ship, character, or even the series itself, the catch-all tag for that is #kotlc discourse. Please use it! Personally, I have the tag muted, and I click through to see the posts only if they're from people I know.
We are very cursed! Some of the most popular items around here are things like many-eyed Fitz, who has 45 eyes and is quite a sight to behold. You are always free to ask someone to tag something if it makes you uncomfortable, and almost anyone will do that for you without question. You don't have to be embarrassed to ask; everyone has their things! Just be forewarned that when we get bored, the headcanons start to get wild... and feel free to jump in and make them even wilder!
You'll likely hear a lot about this, especially because it's true in every fandom (not just ours), but reblogging fanart, fanfiction, and the like is really great for creators. Even if you don't have a lot of followers you're reblogging to, the creator will feel seen and appreciated in a way that just doesn't happen with a simple like. So you obviously aren't obligated, but if you love something, the best way to show it is by reblogging—especially with a compliment!
With all of that out of the way, we all really love seeing newer fans around here, so we're super glad to have you! Just respect others' opinions, and we'll all have a great time. And if you have any questions, ask away!
