Thanks to @thethistlegirl for the idea, I had much fun altering the text once I took the gifs. Like she would say "YOU WENT THE EXTRA MILE AND MADE GIFS AND I STILL SCREAM".

Rather like Mav himself Tom set out to do a thing and succeeded and whether people recognize that or not doesn't seem to matter to him, it's that he’s doing what he loves, where he belongs, that counts... And I think that's beautiful and I feel like that is what matters the most in the end.

I re-watched TG86 and TG:M - Pt.1

I re-watched both movies yesterday and made a list of things I don't hear people talking about enough.

Wolfman during the singing scene - He's so invested in this, too! Makes me think that Mav maybe isn't the loner he's always pictured as

Mav more or less cuddling with Carole while Charlie sits next to them - Speaks volumes about the missing chemistry between Mav and Charlie I think

They say that Ice's jetstream caused the accident so why are there absolutely no consequences for him? Doesn't really make sense to me.

Mav and Ice buzz the tower together! - I can't believe I've never noticed that one before! Which leads me to my next point:

Ice and Mav making each other better and complement each other - Mav becomes more considerate and Ice becomes more fun

Top Gun Maverick Characters as Animals!

(that either i have personally worked with or people i know have worked with) (with explanations for each choice)

Bernie "Hondo" Coleman - Timber Rattlesnake: A very docile species overall, preferring to retreat or hide when faced with a threat. However, when provoked they are capable of delivering a bite with powerful venom (either neurotoxic, hemorrhagic, or a combination of both).

Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw - Red Fox: Very clever and capable of learning from their experiences, they are also a very playful species that are known to attempt to play with larger animals that could pose a threat to them.

Natasha "Phoenix" Trace - Mongoose Lemur: The females of this species are dominant over the males and they are a relatively peaceful species. They, like most lemurs, are incredibly social and live in groups with small home ranges that often overlap with other groups.

Robert "Bob" Floyd - Meerkat: Cooperative and supportive, they live in large family groups. They appear to be shy, skittish, and quiet, but when they feel safe they are incredibly social and appear to have intricate emotions. (My picture from Frankfurt Zoo in Germany!)

Javy "Coyote" Machado - American Alligator: Incredibly intelligent and capable of learning their name, voices, and commands, they are very misunderstood as being aggressive and dangerous. They are actually very calm and relatively docile animals (my picture from a trip to Florida).

Jake "Hangman" Seresin - Thick-tailed Bushbaby/Greater Galago: While they can be moody and solitary, they are prone to becoming anxious and irritable without consistent interaction with other bushbabies. They also are curious and very intelligent as many primates are.

Reuben "Payback" Fitch - Speckled King Snake: Born resistant to venom, they are one of the few snakes that will prey on venomous snakes including rattlesnakes. However, they are very calm snakes that don't often strike at people.

Mickey "Fanboy" Garcia - American Bison: While they can appear calm and docile, they are very dangerous when provoked. They are very social and thrive in large herds where they are capable of fighting off packs of wolves and other large predators.

Logan "Yale" Lee - Coachwhip: Incredibly fast, these snakes are not aggressive but instead will use their speed to get away from threats moving upwards of 10 mph! Unlike many snakes that rely on venom or constriction for hunting and defense, the coachwhip will hold its prey - or predator - in its mouth and whip their head side to side to tear flesh, and they will use rocks to kill their prey by slamming it into them repeatedly (very cool to watch, not so cool to have happen to your hand <- said from experience).

Brigham "Harvard" Lennox - Takin: Very agile and graceful despite their appearances, these large animals are able to move around their mountainous environment with more ease than almost any others. They are very protective of each other, and are very curious creatures.

Neil "Omaha" Vikander - Antillean Nighthawk: Not much is known about this species, but they are incredibly agile fliers and have been seen flying almost erratically while hunting - including dramatic dives and swoops.

Callie "Halo" Bassett - American Crocodile: The only species of crocodilian known to reproduce through parthenogenesis, making them the largest species known to use that method of reproduction! They are very intelligent and deadly predators that have been known to adapt their strategies if they are unsuccessful in a hunt.

Billy "Fritz" Avalone - Water Deer: A mainly solitary species, and the males are highly territorial. Their large fangs earned them the nickname of "vampire deer" and many people assume they are dangerous or a threat, but they are not carnivorous. Those fangs are instead used for fights with other water deer!

Beau "Cyclone" Simpson - Great White Shark: One of the most intelligent and curious shark species, and one of the most notorious species of the ocean. They are known to use different hunting strategies depending on the prey they are hunting, and they almost always are able to outsmart their prey. However, they are also very peaceful sharks when not hunting, and media commonly misrepresents them as bloodthirsty when they are just trying to survive.

Solomon "Warlock" Bates - Kodiak Bear: Despite being the largest subspecies of brown bears (and the second largest bear alive today with the largest being the polar bear), these bears are among the least aggressive of all brown bears. They will gather in large groups due to the availability of food and have been observed to use "language" and have complex social structures to avoid fights between the usually solitary bears (it's theorized that they even express their feelings to avoid conflict).

I was reading this article and it talks about how Jon Hamm basically went into his role on Landman without really knowing what it was (he thought he was doing a superhero show). That reminded me of another interview where he said he didn’t know what his role would be on Top Gun Maverick- he just wanted to be in it.

So imagine a Cyclone who is an incredibly talented aviator, and a brilliant officer who climbed the ranks almost as fast as his hero, Iceman. He has a reputation for being in the right place at the right time, even if he isn’t always sure what he’s doing there. In short, he’s a bit clueless.

His best friend, Solomon, is usually there to pull him back on task or bail him out if he runs his mouth about something. Warlock and Iceman shared many drinks over the years, commiserating about their respective wingmen.

So the years move on, and Ice starts to worry about Maverick. They aren’t getting any younger, and he’s the last of the flyboys to settle down. Even Slider is seriously courting his young aviator (Fritz).

Ice thinks about who he could set Mav up with that would be interesting enough to hold Mav’s attention. He thinks it needs to be a man. Yes, Maverick enjoys the company of both men and women, but he’s a little more pliant, he gives himself over more completely to men.

It needs to be someone fairly tall. The main reason Slider and Mav had hooked up so many times over the years was the fact that they were enamored with each other’s size. Ron loved wrapping Pete up in his long arms, covering the smaller aviator, and protecting him.

Mav was still painfully touch-starved after all these years, and he loved being cuddled. Ice did his best when he was around, but the more stars he added to his collar meant less time for his wingman.

It was a meeting at Top Gun that gave him the idea. He was going over orders for Cyclone and Warlock and he looked at his protege with new eyes. A conversation with Solomon afterwards confirmed the fact that Beau was in fact both gay and single. Solomon was thrilled with the idea of unleashing Mav on his unsuspecting wingman.

During the mission prep, Beau has no clue that Mav is flirting with him, or that Iceman set them up. He is focused on the mission parameters and trying to contain the chaos that is Maverick Mitchell (and his new squadron of mini-Mavs).

When Mav goes down, it hits Beau like a freight train. He can’t be gone. Beau needs him. He wants him.

Solomon holds him up and keeps him from giving into his panic. When they finally crash land on deck, Beau’s first thought is to recreate the picture of Ice and Mav, with a little more kissing. He settles for what he hopes is a professional looking acknowledgment.

Mav is preoccupied with Bradley once they get back on land, but Ice invites them to dinner, and seats Beau next to Pete. With the tall admiral in close quarters, Mav seduces him successfully.

They date, fall in love, and live happily ever after.

I don't think we as a fandom realize the potential a Golden Bachelor Icemav AU has

(totally not inspired by the fact that someone this season is a retired Navy Captain)

Ice as the Golden Bachelor, he came out later in life and his ex and his kids pushed him to participate

Candidates:

Mav (Bradley applied behind his back)

Slider (quickly realized he's not interested but flirts with everyone (for the drama)) (could also be a throuple situation)

Hollywood and Wolf but they promptly realize they're in love with each other

Cyclone and Warlock same story but with much more drama (Cyclone's crush on Ice is inevitable)

Cain as a the sleazy guy (every season needs someone that makes you ask what the producers were thinking)

All the other Flyboys + Cougar + fan favourite Savant ofc

Literally anyone else

I'd love a version with Mav as the GB too, a maybe a Bi version with all the guys, plus Hondo but also Charlie, Penny and whoever.

Always down for another side romance so Bradley visits the set and immediately antagonize that one stupidly handsome guy on the crew (it's Jake).

Is this the moment I admit I've never watched any iteration of the show?
