Yesssss I got one of these!!!

Anyway. Names. Bios. Yes. There are a lot of main characters so I will tell you about the three I have written about the most recently. I'll put them in order of where they appear in the historical timeline, as well!

I don't have any major, developed characters from the earlier years of Era One, but I have two major characters right at the start of Era Two! Emperor Oscar Huphera and his most trusted advisor, Thomas Merritt!

Oscar is the fourth emperor in the Huphera line, ruling over the growing Tsiona Empire. He's arrogant, cold, and stern with everyone who has the misfortune of working with him. At least, that is what he appears to be. His uncle, the former emperor, was a brutal dictator who was liable to cut off one's tongue should one mouth off to him. While most of the courtiers of the Tsiona Empire are grateful that Oscar is not that type of man, there are some who believed Oscar to be too soft when he first came into power. They went so far as to challenge his claim to the throne, and though that challenge failed, Oscar isn't keen to test his luck again.

He crafted an image for himself, that of a tyrant with his temper on a short leash that he could release at any moment. With that image, he was able to silence any whispers that he was too soft on his courtiers and citizens. He was not, however, able to curb the rumors that he was a non-traditionalist. Perhaps those rumors have some substance, seeing as Oscar is destined to be the last emperor of the Tsiona Empire.

Thomas Merritt is Oscar's most trusted royal advisor. Specifically, he is the emperor's Advisor of the People. To most of the courtiers, it's a pretty cushy job. The Advisor of the People is basically what we would consider modern day PR management. Thomas's job is to keep an ear to the ground and listen to what people are saying about the monarchy. When they're saying good things, he reports them back to Oscar. When they're saying bad things, he co-ordinates with Oscar to do damage control. Other advisors and courtiers will sometimes give Thomas messages to pass to the emperor as well, since he seems to be the only one Oscar won't blow up at.

So, that's what he is on the surface, but he is also so much more than that. In addition to handling PR, Thomas also stands at the top of a vast network of Imperial spies. He makes it his business to know everything about anyone and everyone. He sniffs out talk of rebellion and monitors the loudest voices, making moves to ensure that there's never a chance for coordinated effort to overthrow his friend ever again. Most people write him off as a silly, laid-back gossip, and he uses that to his advantage. He's been protecting Oscar since childhood, and he intends to protect him through his dying breath.

Now let's fast forward- way forward- to the middle of Era 3. And allow me to introduce you to Richie McLure.

Yes, McLure is really his last name. No, he's not a pimp. And his full name is technically Richard, but that was his father's name, and he really doesn't want to go by Dick. Richie is the unfortunate son of a part-time "miracle worker", an absolute quack. Oh, sure, he did perform miracles. That sort of magic is fairly common. The quack part comes in when one looks at how McLure Senior came about his magic. See, Richard liked to take shortcuts, and he thought himself very clever. He thought that if he made contradicting contracts with multiple magical entities, they would end up squabbling when it came time to collect, and he could bounce without paying the bill. What he failed to know or realize, and what he would have realized if he had studied for his magic like everyone else, is that there are in fact powers-that-be. More specifically, powers-that-be-employed-to-handle-that-sort-of-paperwork-and-dont-take-kindly-to-the-mountain-that-is-richard-mclures-file.

How does that relate to Richie? Well, Richie is Richard's first born. And, as he learns upon his father's death, he's been sold to four different magical entities, all of which want to collect him for one purpose or another. Richie is informed of this by an agent of Heaven named Ethan (the neutral third party; Heaven wouldn't claim a member of the McLure family for any incentive, apparently). Having just gotten finished settling the material debts of his father's estate and very much liking his free will intact, Richie does the logical thing and tells Ethan to tell all four entities to pound sand. That does not go well for him.

Here we basically have Dogday, or the "crazy kid" in the class who was going to be sent to a Camp and ended up in a world where things are EVEN WORSE.

But whatever, the kid is happy

The collar has Illusion magic; it’s basically like the collars Emira and Edric used.

El grupito de amigos!

CraftyCorn es la primera a la que conoce Dogday en su forma humana, junto con Hoppy, antes de que le den el collar de Sol. Gracias a Dogday, Crafty paso de la clase de Oráculo a Ilusiones

Hoppy a pesar de interesarle el mundo humano como a Gus, no es tan "Emocionada" sobre ello, mas que nada lo que le llama la atencion es sobre los deportes del mundo humano, por lo que al ver que Dogday estaba escualido pensó que no había mucha diferencia al Reino de los demonios (mentira)

Picky es este caso que tenemos con Matt en The Owl House, solamente que sería una competencia sana con Hoppy sobre que tiene más valor, si los deportes humanos o la Gastronomía humana-

The Friend Group!

CraftyCorn is the first one Dogday meets in his human form, along with Hoppy, before he gets the Sun Collar. Thanks to Dogday, Crafty switched from the Oracle track to Illusions

Hoppy, despite being interested in the human world like Gus, isn’t as “excited” about it. Mainly, what catches her attention are human sports, so when she saw that Dogday was scrawny, she thought there wasn’t much difference from the Demon Realm (not true)

Picky is like Matt in The Owl House, but here, she has a friendly competition with Hoppy about which is more valuable: human sports or human gastronomy.

We call this bunch the “psych ward crazies,” and it usually includes Dogday, Hoppy, and Crafty.

GRUPO DE CATNAP/CATNAP'S GROUP (and enemy/rival)

Con Catnap tenemos una dinámica mas rara, ya que su grupo se conforma de solo sus únicos amigos más cercanos. El solia ser amigo de Craftycorn pero al ver que a su padre y su tutora no les gustaba ya que ella no sabía controlar su magia, le dijeron que se aleje de ella, basicamente lo mismo con Willow y Amity

Cuando obtiene la maldición de la Bestia, su magia se Oráculo se potencia, ya que está tiene que ver con el futuro y un plano psico-mental, así que le metemos el tema de los sueños y pesadillas

Si, este también se pone como tomate de la vergüenza

1006 no lo deja llevar ropa que no sea con mangas largas o cubriéndose, más que nada por las cicatrices de entrenamiento que tiene el pobre chiquito

With Catnap, we have a more unusual dynamic, since his group is made up of just his closest friends. He used to be friends with CraftyCorn, but when his father and tutor noticed she couldn’t control her magic, they told him to stay away from her, basically the same as with Willow and Amity

When he gets the Beast curse, his Oracle magic intensifies since it’s connected to the future and a psychic-mental realm, so we add the theme of dreams and nightmares here

Yes, he also blushes like a tomato out of embarrassment.

1006 doesn’t allow him to wear anything that isn’t long-sleeved or covered up, mostly to hide the training scars the poor kid has.

Bobby y Kickin vienen a ocupar el lugar de Emira y Edric, pero siendo los amigos mas íntimos de Catnap, quienes saben todo de el y en quienes el emperador "confía" si su hino no esta en el castillo

Bobby es la mayor de los 3, siendo la que más sentido de responsabilidad tiene y la que conoció a Catnap en su edad más temprana (y la que lo socorre cuando se entera que al loquito le gusta Dogday)

El caso con Bubba es complicado, si bien formaría parte del parche a la vez no, la forma en la que sabes que fueron amigos con Catnap es que llevan collares o dijes.

La rivalidad con bubba se originó debido a que ambos querían demostrar que podrían servirle a 1006, existiendo está dualidad de "El príncipe" y "el Guardia Zafiro"

Bobby and Kickin take on the roles of Emira and Edric, but as Catnap’s closest friends. They know everything about him, and the Emperor “trusts” them when his son isn’t at the castle

Bobby is the oldest of the three, with the strongest sense of responsibility, and she met Catnap when he was younger (she’s also the one who comforts him when she realizes he has feelings for Dogday)

The situation with Bubba is complicated. Although he’s technically part of the group, he’s also kind of not. The way you know he was friends with Catnap is by the collars or pendants they wear.

The rivalry with Bubba began because both wanted to prove they could serve 1006, creating this duality of “The Prince” and “The Sapphire Guard.”

Alastor's Shadow - Message to the Hoteliers

Dear Hoteliers,

Spoiler Warning: DO NOT READ UNTIL AFTER CHAPTER FOURTEEN

Okay, Hoteliers, why did I have Alastor stab Mikaela? Why not have Alastor never attack Mikaela in the first place? Why didn’t he just drop the knife and kiss her, and then I write a chapter filled with some seriously overdo smut? Because there was still one thing about Alastor that had not been challenged yet - in the fanfic and in canon. Yes, Alastor had fallen for the reader, but there was still this giant thing hanging over their heads that they did not address, which needed to be hit upon in order for the two of them to finally accept their feelings for each other. What would Alastor do if something/someone he loved more than power stood in the way of him achieving it? You, as Mikaela, already made that decision when you killed Eve - you’d do anything. Yet, deep down, you knew you couldn’t do it to Alastor - you, as the reader, had decided that without me even having to write it. You were literally screaming in the comments about it as you read chapter thirteen.

Yet Alastor had never been asked that question. So we needed to see what he would do. Given the opportunity, he needed to be forced to choose, and he needed to see that that choice would have consequences. That's why I needed Alastor to stab you, to go after you, to draw blood. Why go to such lengths? Because Alastor is a stubborn, stubborn man, and changing him would not be an easy thing to do, especially when it is something so central to his character. I mean, he's a cannibalistic murderer; how much more literal does Viv need to get about his desire to consume power? Being forced to choose was not only about you but about him as well. In the writing business, we call it ~character development~.

So no, I couldn't simply have Alastor drop the knife and whisk you away into a fairytale. This moment, this part of Alastor's character, posed an obstacle for me: a giant wall preventing me from continuing on. I needed Alastor to grow, to unlock that part of himself that let you in, choose you over everything else, and for him to accept that.  

Don't worry, we still have more to go - they still have to learn why they are both at the Hotel, what their involvements are with Lilith, and what Mikaela’s big endgame actually is, but that stuff is trivial compared to their cannibalistic desire for power - especially considering Mikaela is Roo, the embodiment of it. I mean, that’s how this fanfic all started, right? “Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent than the one derived from fear…” And I think it’s important to remember that because it will be a theme through to the end of this fic.

Retrograde Revision 4: Armor Master

And of course, due to the way that alphabets work, our next revised entry is also armor themed, this time with the fighter class!

(I just checked with the original entry and completely unbidden I also poked fun at my alphabetized list then as well. The more things change, the more they stay the same, I suppose)

In any case, it only makes sense that a class focused on everything martial would have an archetype dedicated to mastering every aspect of mundane combat would have a specialization dedicated to armor and shields.

However, while the armored hulk spends a decent number of it’s abilities simply negating the movement penalties of heavy armor, these warriors instead master the more defensive aspects of armor, becoming the very picture of an armored defender.

They achieve this by truly understanding the tolerances of their armor and what blows they can turn aside and which ones they can take head on without harm.

So if you plan on playing a tanky defender, this archetype may be for you, so let’s take a look at what it has to offer!

Normally shields and armor do no good against magic that merely has to make contact to be effective, but these warriors learn to use their shields to deflect at least some of these attacks in both ranged and melee capacities. (Though this only offers a better chance of protection, not true deflection.)

An armor master knows the toughest parts of their armor, helping them to reduce incoming damage even when an attack manages to slip in. What’s more, this compounds with the toughness of adamantine armor, making such armor the perfect fit for this archetype.

They even know how to use the armor to better protect their vitals, making critical blows increasingly unlikely.

This improves later so that they become totally immune to critical hits while in armor, and said armor is protected from being sundered by their skill in turning aside blows from both their vitals and the weaknesses of the armor itself.

With a defensive build like this, having both a reach weapon and a close-range weapon is a must here, as is quick draw and all manner of defensive combat feats to better protect themselves, as well as punish those that try to get out of reach, such as step up. Also, look through the advanced armor training options for fun stuff to further improve yourself. Try to also pick up a few offensive options though to round things out, and play with durability and inescapability in mind. Additionally, options that slow your foe down are a good idea.

Naturally, armor master usually arise from among the most elite front-line troops, as well as honor guards to nobles and royals, and other positions where staying alive to protect others is very important. Indeed, such figures are almost always very well respected, because who would not respect someone that stands tall between the enemy and those behind them?

Vernand Solia is a wandering warrior. His armor is outdated, but he has been seen to withstand blows that would kill men in the strongest of plate mail. He has become a local legend, many young warriors challenging him. He has become weary of both these and the assassination attempts of less honorable warriors. He would be eternally grateful to anyone who can find a way to escape his own legacy.

Rumor speaks of so-called walking bastions, dwarves wearing heavy stone plate, marching ahead of their armies on the battlefield, their bulk and armor blocking below, while their polearms forming a lethal fence for giants and other creatures large enough to otherwise bypass them. Some claim that the most elite wear modified stone golems, carved with the faces of their greatest heroes.

Rusttongue is an unusual goblin mercenary with a highly unusual fighting style. He wears hand-crafted mithral armor that allows him to leap into the battlefield with his blades spinning, trusting the armor to keep him safe. The most gruesome feature of the armor is the helm, built with a separate section for his jaws, hooked to piecing that are drilled into his very bone, allowing the bladed edge of the helm to add to his already painful bite.

Inktober Day 13

This is from the official daily Inktober 2022 prompt list that I have, once again, repurposed for my own writing uses.

Inktober Day 13: Kind

Like attracts like.

It’s the oldest rule of magic there is: gather enough of one kind of mana in an area and more of that kind will collect there.

Regions of dense jungle draw in life mana due to the sheer amount of life already existing there. Or perhaps the large pool of life mana started the growth of the vast array of life, and thus manifesting in the jungle.

Such questions won’t be found within the jungle itself, as everything is potentially deadly or life-saving and the real question is “which is it?”

But on the archipelago of Solia, where water is all around and fire creates the very earth you walk upon, such questions are more prevalent: “what came first, the water mana or the ocean?”

Meanwhile, the vast, ever-stretching plains of frozen ice are more concerned with the second oldest rule of magic: opposites result in destruction.

Your latest comic is such an incredible work, Zu!! It amazes me so much that you can tell a story only by the drawing—just Cross and Dream—without any words in the comic ( ꈍᴗꈍ)

I have a hopefully it's not a stupid question about Dream though, why is he practicing nunchuks (is that the correct English word for the weapon?) in the rain? Am I missing something important reference OwO

About Dream:

In short, Dream gets mad at injustice, misunderstanding and his own powerlessness, so goes out to blow off some steam. But his rage needs to come out (like sometimes we want to hit something when we're angry, right?), to incarnate, and at this stage he can achieve his new weapon ˚✧₊��

For his body, it's a physical activity that will help him get tired and cool under the rain. For his mind, it's a way to chase the moments of the past and find the one where he went wrong and lose them both.

All those moments when Cross made him feel embarrassed yet was happy. The moment when Dream called him his Guard (though he didn't even need the one, and he told about it) just for Cross' credo which made him happy.

Cross, in turn, decided "to protect him and give him a life of happiness forever". But now that everything has passed, it no longer makes sense. Well, at least Cross might just responsible for them both, right?.. Oh, no, no longer =)

And it turns out that Dream didn't make Cross happy but robbed him of his last hope to be happy.

About nunchucks [non-canon upgrade]:

If we look at Dream's weapons' evolution, the distance decreases (a staff with a protective field -> daggers for melee) and the damage increases (defense -> attack).

Ok, finished him! Well, technically finished him a couple days ago, but wanted to finish another drawing to give a full ref(which I will post tomorrow). I figured I'd at least show you the one that at least relates to your request.

So yeah, I named him Superbloom, which will make sense when you see his ref. And gave him antlers because why not. As for personality, he's actually a sweetheart, as opposed to other versions of Shattered.

And for those who don't know the context from the ask I sent Solia, I originally was going to do the silly request until my brain went "that's cool, but how about making a new character instead?" So here's the new boi.
