@ghostdoctor i had to like scroll so carefully to fit this into one screenshot but THESE IDEAS ARE SO CUTE
i think we finally found something we have different opinions on because i physically cant see this before izuku's crush realization for me.
i just really like the idea of like when monoma and izuku sorta become buddy buddy with their shared quirk enjoyment Izuku starts to become endeared by the little things (and even the things he used to think were lowkey annoying) that monoma would do when they spend time together.
AND LIKE WHEN 1-A QUESTION"S IZUKU OR SHITS ON MONOMA IZUKU IS LIKE "guys he's actually really sweet" and someone would be like
"no he just has a soft spot for you"
and like,,, he does. monoma like absolutely refuses to admit it but he really does think that izuku is just amazing. better than him in every way. which fuels his inferiority complex but also has this mixed in admiration and it messes with monoma's head SO BAD because hes supposed to hate this boy.
he wants to be around izuku but he wants to run away from his as fast as he can when hes nearby. he wants to love him but it would never work because izuku is thousands of miles ahead of him in everything, so why would he ever look back at monoma? why would he ever choose him out of all people. its impossible, so its better to hate him then to get himself hurt by wishing on a star that doesn't even exist.
and then with Midoriya, he probably thinks that monoma lowkey dislikes him still since he sucks at expressing feelings by anything other then being mean so its like
izuku knows that monoma likes being around him because he keeps spending time with him, but sometimes he's unsure due to the things Monoma says. (AUTISM. and his self image issues lol)
so these two are just in this never ending "he doesn't like me like that" cycle and the hypothetical readers are just like
"FUUUUCCCKKKKKKKK PLEASE JUST TALK ABOUT FEELINGS OR SOMTHING FOR ONE MINUTE I BEG"
#monodeku#used this as an excuse to rant abt my veiws on monodeku#i think they would go ice skating together#idk why i thought of that just now it has nothing to do with the post#they are LITTERALLY Promise by Laufey#thats THEIR SONG i dont make the rules#they both hate themselfs but in like different flavors#monoma and his little issues#i just like the idea of rivals to friend to lovers more than rivals to lovers#i love watching their opinions and feelings of each other change#its so raw and cute#i also feel like this all happens in their second year#soley because of their lack of bond in year one and like#the big fat war thats been making sure these two will never kiss#and bakugo#reminder if bakugo wasn't an ass and didn't piss off 1-b monoma wouldnt hate 1-a#blame everything on bakugo#anti bakugo#this was way angstyer then it was supposed to be#also i just like this because its slowburn#did i mention i fucking love slowburn#and like imagine THIS with a sick fic where either one of them get a fever and the other takes care of them#if monoma got sick it would be like#“fuck you i dont need your help” but internally hes like “why is he helping me im so horrible to him and everyone all the time”#“he has better things to be doing than taking care of me”#and if it was midoriya it would be like#"hey ill be fine#“wait hes actually taking care of me?”#“is he worried?”#“i don't want to worry him”

klance is one of the best relationships in animation (imo)
i have yet to see a cartoon show that delivers an emotionally riveting and engaging romantic pairing that gets me feeling for the characters a lot. except, of course, keith and lance. probably gonna sound corny, but bear with me.
lotura was a well-developed relationship that i saw backing to, and they did it in a relatively short span of time. so i give kudos to the writers for building it up well. but usually when this kind of relationship that is sort of predictable happens (of course disregarding lotor's betrayl) in all these shows, i usually just think: "that's cute." but i'm not dedicated to it very much. they usually don't get me excited and entertained.
honestly out of all the animated films and tv series i've watched, usually the hetero ships happen in a short amount of time - kind of defeating the purpose of affecting the viewer much. it's almost like some writers have their hands shaking, desperate to just have a relationship to work on, that they're sloppy and rushed. that also ties into some peoples' view that you have to have romance to be happy - which is silly, because aromantic and asexual people exist. writers are often just... impatient to have characters get together, and i can say that because i'm a writer, and it's absolutely true. but to get a great relationship, you need to have good characters and a good arc for them.
like, a couple episodes in and they kiss - and ur just like - "oh. this is happening now i guess." it lacks emotional ties with the audience. but if you make it a slow and grueling romantic burn - the audience gets more and more drawn to it. in a lot of cases - that's one of the biggest reasons people watch the show, because, when done right, the romantic delivery is so satisfying to see.
lance and keith's relationship has started since season one, which is a pretty huge leap from LOK where korrasami sort of just,, happens. of course there were limitations on the network, but the buildup was relatively minimal. when i watched it, i was in a state of disbelief and excitement to see two women romantically coded on animated television. that was more of a shock factor for me other than dedication to seeing them pair up. i was happy there was rep, but that was about it. the characters weren't as lovable and complex as i thought they'd be - which is something voltron is succeeding in: having amazing characters.
klance has a huge amount of evidence stacked up, going all the way back to s1. i think the writers pre planned this much better - and in interviews they've stated that writing whole seasons in chunks is easier than going episode by episode like korra. so they've definitely had this in mind since early seasons. another reason they have so much freedom when it comes to romantically coded m/m scenes is because they're on netflix. netflix isn't really a "big bad" of the lgbt community. they have lots of great lgbt shows avaliable.
klance is a slow burn. by the end of the show, we'll have gone 70-80ish episodes total. that's a lot of time to have hetero ships put together. that's a long time for a hetero slow burn, but none were directly present at the beginning. but we did get m/m romantically coded scenes. the fact that lance and keith got one of the most romantic scenes of the first season and it wasn't straight baffles me. it will blow my mind if klance is the only confirmed endgame relationship by the finale of the show - it would be a huge step for representation.
their relationship has been the spotlight for me, something that keeps me tied to the show. it's what the writers do with the characters - how they interact - that is so enjoyable to watch. lance and keith have a lovable relationship, there's no denying that for me. a large part of their characters is the struggle for finding love.
for lance : love/appreciation from his teammates; romantic love. for keith: parental love, brotherly love, and finally - romance. he is one of the more focused-on main characters, as he was in the original shows. so ending him with a relationship would be the cherry on top for the finale. it would also tie into the hints why keith was so strung up on the bonding moment - where he might have developed a crush on lance. there's a lot more evidence for pining keith in early seasons than people give credit for - another thing i love about voltron. it's complex; it has layers to be pulled back. the characters are believable and realistic. and mostly, i love theorizing.
romance in voltron isn't as flexible as it was in korra - where you had no idea by the end of the show really who was ending up with who. of course there were hints, but you could never know for sure. voltron ain't like that. again, since it was planned out in chunks and as a whole, the show flows much better - rather than last minute whims of the writers in weekly tv series. that's why i'm so confident in klance. it was planned out early and clearly.
lance and keith's relationship really keeps the viewers guessing. you have no idea what's going to kick off an interaction. maybe an argument, maybe a confession - but it's so hard to tell how their characters will interact because, well... they're both relatively confused too. they don't know how to act around each other, and that's incredibly entertaining. honestly, i think that's why a lot of fanfiction fails to capture their characters well because of how complex they are.
you never know when something like "i think he's, like, the future" is going to pop out at you. years ago, i would have said that line sounded ooc. but now, it's not.
i didn't know if dw would take the leap, but the amount of foreshadowing interactions of lance and keith in s7 lead me to strengthen my belief that they are voltron's main slowburn.
so basically: if klance happens (and i'm confident it will), it's going to be one of the best romantic buildups i've seen in a cartoon. i'm not just saying this because they're a m/m ship (even though i definitely do want solid representation), i love the ship because of everything subtle - and not subtle you can see in it. to the blatantly obvious bonding moment scene where they hold hands and stare at each other smiling softly in purple lighting, to just a small frame of keith looking disgruntled as lance flirts with allura. the list goes on, and on, and on.
many shows with lgbt characters can fail in making the relationship memorable - sadly, they can just be added as an afterthought only so the creators can take the credit for having "representation."
klance is one of my all-time favorite ships because of how well planned and memorable it is. it's the fact that i can say i love the characters and relationship not soley because of the rep, but because it's a genuinely great story.

Ellashan Veslar
I get to play my favorite bard half-elf again and as such, her background story got a re-haul. Posting here because I am a nerd and you all love me anyways. (Art commissioned by the lovely @kiikiibee)
Ellashan Veslar Inspiration Music
Myers-Briggs Type: ENTP Quick, ingenious, stimulating, alert, and outspoken. Resourceful in solving new and challenging problems. Adept at generating conceptual possibilities and then analyzing them strategically. Good at reading other people. Bored by routine, will seldom do the same thing the same way, apt to turn to one new interest after another.
Ellashan is curiosity personified. Something dark, dangerous, and scary? She has to take notes in case it’s a new species. She doesn’t rest until her interest has been satisfied.
Knowledge is meant to be discovered and shared. No matter how dangerous (it belongs in a museum!)
Main inspiration for this character: Evie from The Mummy. Will read from The Book of the Dead, save her idiot brother, and throw sass at whoever deserves it. Goes from the uptight librarian to bad ass heroine at the end of the day.
Ellashan wears a rather simple throng necklace. It’s a simple looking crystal that glows in the moonlight. ((Gem of Brightness/Trinket Combined))
Life Moments:
Ellashan’s childhood was not an easy one. Her mother died when she was very young. She doesn’t remember much about her mother. Only that she had a kind smile. Her relationship with her father was much more strained. Allorn’s level of affection for Ellashan would best be described as dismissive. Her own accomplishments being “good enough for a half-breed, I suppose”. Outwardly, he doted on her and spared no expense towards her ‘refinement’. His indulgences in her education was mostly to keep her out of his hair. The value of her existence was priced soley by what benefit she was to him.
As she got older, Allorn didn’t take kindly to Ellashan’s growing defiance and independence. She was… noticable now. He couldn’t ignore the fact that she had started running around with her half-brother. Despite being the elder of Allorn’s children, Octavius wasn’t around much as Ellashan was growing up. Their father would like to pretend that Octavius doesn’t exist but every once and awhile Allorn would have to “deal” with Octavius’ latest indiscretions. Her older brother was constantly in trouble with the authorities or dealing with the fallout of Octavius latest shenanigans. Ella adores her brother, one of her proudest acts of teenage rebellion was seeking out her half-brother. He is wild and exciting, everything that Ellashan was not. It was Octavius that showed Ella how to use her rapier and other unladylike activities. He offered to help Ella sever ties with Allorn once and for all, “We could see the world and live our lives without him, El. We don’t need him.” Ultimately, Ellashan’s insecurity kept her from taking him up on it. Though the offer still stands. Ellashan owes Tavi so much, for being one of the first people to show her true affection. Thankfully, Tavi is always getting into trouble so she will have plenty of opportunities to pay him back.
To get her away from her brother, Allorn sent Ellashan away to study at The Halls of Ivy. Even though it was a punishment, it wouldn’t do to send her anywhere less prestigious. His reputation may have been at stake, after all. Ella threw herself into her studies, reading anything that she could get her hands on. It was here that Ellashan finally felt like herself. Her father was far enough away that she didn’t feel the weight of his crushing disappointment and she was free to be as “embarrassing” (his term for her excitable nature) without fear of retribution. She missed her brother greatly, but she made new friends quickly. Her affable nature meaning she was well liked despite any conversational missteps.
Ellashan was a frequent visitor to the Grand Repository at The Halls of Ivy. Of course, the more dangerous and possibly forbidden the text was, the more interested Ellashan was. It was here that she met Paladain Initiate Kydius Etan. The Archivists quickly determined that she needed supervision or she might wander off with something from the Deep Archives absentmindedly. Kydius Eitan was short tempered and rude at first about his “assignment”, but Ellashan’s persistent optimism and enthusiasm eventually won him over. He might have grumbled and made noises like he had better things to do, but he came to look forward to her visits. She was drawn to him at first, just taking advantage of the time he was there with her. Then she started making up excuses to visit the Repository whenever she could. Eventually, she was coming to the library just to visit him. While their relationship never progressed to anything more substantial, it was not for a lack of disinterest. Their closeness led to him being a bit more lenient than maybe he should have been. In the end, he had a hard time telling Ellashan no. Which may have been his downfall.
During one of her forays into the one of the older sections of the library. Ellashan uncovered a mysterious tome. A large ancient black leather bound tome with an intricate crystal embedded on the cover. The language was written in a curious and tangled script that made her head ache to look upon. She couldn’t wait to share it with Kydius. He had his reservations about her reading it, but ultimately did nothing to stop her. In yet another forgotten corner of the library, she poured over the tome while he looked on, as he always did. It wasn’t until she was midway through reading a passage that Kydius realized that she had been speaking in the same tongue as the Chaos. Suddenly fearful for her safety, he rushed forward to stop Ella from reading further. It was too late. Whatever dark knowledge laid within the tome had a hold on her and she kept reading. Energy twisted and dark tendrils reached out for her from the book so he did the only thing he could think to: lift the book from her grasp and flung it away. The curse she had twisted lashed out at Kydius and there was a loud shattering of reality. When the dust cleared the book... and Kydius were gone.
There was an investigation, of course, the Grand Masters at The Halls of Ivy wanted to know what happened to Kydius. Unfortunately, there was no book and no trace of what happened to him. The only thing they found was a shard of the crystal. No one could determine its make or origin nor was anyone able to find any record of a tome of Ellashan’s description. Not even the most senior of magic users have been able to use divination or scrying magics that have been able to reach Kydius. Most have written her protestations that he isn’t dead as some sort of post-traumatic denial. While she was never charged with anything in regards to The Incident, Ellashan was still seen as responsible for Kydius’ disappearance by most. They believe him dead and gone and have given up. Ellashan has not and has devoted the rest of her time at the Ivy Halls to studying the various planes of existence and how they overlap and affect the Prime Material. She will find a way to find out what happened to him and clear her name.
This latest scandal was the straw that broke the camel’s as far as her father was concerned. He aided her how he could, because it was expected of him. Allorn had no way of “making good on his investment now” as any marriage prospects he might have been attempting to arrange for her quickly dried up when it became known that his daughter was dabbling in dark magics that caused a man to disappear. Allorn severed all ties with Ella and left her bereft of his money and connections. With the Halls of Ivy no long the friendliest of places, she was tolerated at best. Ellashan leapt at the chance to volunteer for the King’s mission. The Halls of Ivy were able to say they were sending a “promising researcher” to the cause and the King didn’t care who she was as long as she fulfilled her duty. She was eager and willing to be sent to the ass end of the Borderlands for half a chance to restore her reputation.
Goals
Character Goal: To prove to others (but mostly herself), that she can accomplish great things. While her quest for knowledge is a passion, ultimately, she wants to do something with it and if not clear her name, then be remembered for something good and not for the mistakes she has made.
Personal Goal: I want Ellashan to grow more confident and assertive. That all her father’s “good enough for a half-breed” epitaphs aren’t true.
Secrets
Known: While everyone knows she is responsible for Kydius’ disappearance. Ellashan has seen proof that he is alive. Or least she think she has. She had managed to convince the tribunal to let her keep the crystal remnant found after his disappearance. It was the first full moon after his disappearance and she awoke to the crystal emitting a nearly blinding bright light. When she reached out and touched the crystal (because of course she would), in her mind she heard with ringing clarity Kydius’ voice calling out to her. Ellashan has now taken to wearing the crystal as a necklace as a way of keeping him close. She suspects that he has somehow been bound within the crystal. Though her research hasn’t uncovered anything even vaguely similar to the book or the crystal she found she found nor is she any closer to discovering a way to undo it. It has been nearly a year now, she still hopes that she will figure out a way to bring him back. ((Of course, it might not actually be him calling out to her. It might be whatever has been bound to the crystal is using his voice, but Ellashan is 100% convinced it is him))
Unknown: Octavius may not be Ellashan’s only sibling. He is just the only one she knows, but her father has been alive a long time and it is possible that she has even older siblings that may wish to meet her. She also doesn’t know if Octavius knows of what happened to her in Galria
Bonds
(Hostile) Father: Allorn Veslar, High Elf.
Allorn is a shrewd and well to do businessman that always has his eye on his next acquisition. Allorn is the type of man that views his family as commodities and assets to expend. He expects to have the ability to dictate all aspects of their life. Part of his “business model” is marrying wealthy human women and then outliving them as a means to increase his own capital. He has done this countless times, though legitimate children were rare as he tends to target weak, older vulnerable women. To him, humans are weak, stupid short lived creatures. He hates living with humans, but Allorn was not well liked in elvish society, so he moved to [nearby human kingdom] and has made his way here because he has no other choice. He lords himself over humans with this false sense of his own superiority. Even if he could go back to his homeland, he wouldn’t go back with his half-breed daughter in tow. It would be too shameful in his eyes. People don’t seem to hold elves in high regard and it is hard to blame them if their only example is someone like Allorn.
(Friendly) Half-Brother: Octavius Uriah Montgomery Drutherford III aka “Tavi” Half-Elf.
The man of many names, he was born with only one of them. Self-styled international man of mystery. With a flair for the dramatic and wit as sharp as his blade, Octavius is short, slender, and exceptionally well-groomed. He wears spotless clothes and carries a rapier with a hilt of white ivory . Octavius’s talent with his blade is matched only by his prissiness about his appearance; Partnered with people who can put up with his quirks, Octavius will quickly prove himself to be a valuable, and fearless, ally. He knows a surprising amount about wilderness survival and monster lore for someone who hates to get mud on his best traveling cloak. He loves adventure and if he isn’t in trouble already, chances are it is only because he hasn’t been caught yet.
(Friendly/Possibly Hostile Now?) Friend: Kydius Etan. Tiefling.
“Oh, you have… fangs. That’s...ah fascinating. Oh, gods, I’m sorry! That was terribly rude of me, but I’ve never met a tiefling before!” Ellashan’s blurted exclamation shocked Kydius into laughter. Kydius was a young paladin initiate that Ellashan encountered during her days studying at university. A fledgling martial servant of the God of Knowledge, Kydius and other initiates were called to serve as guards at Grand Repository to keep order, prevent theft, and keep watch over the more dangerous texts housed there. Kydius is a dour and serious young man that hides a gentle demeanor. Ellashan found him captivating, still waters running deep and all that.
Other Potential Hostiles:
Anyone that might hold her responsible or that might be a bit raw about Kydius’ disappearance. Her involvement is well known and that notoriety and public nature of this mission might cause complications.
Personal
Memory: Ellashan remembers quite clearly and with great detail, every time her father said how much of a shame it was that she wasn’t a full elf. He says that she could have been really something if she didn’t have human blood weighing her down. “Humans will think you beautiful and charming because they don’t know any better. Had they met a real elf, like myself, they would quickly see what a pale substitution you are.”
Mannerism: Highly excitable, with a tendency to not filter her own thoughts. This tendency to speak first and then deal with the consequences goes hand and hand with her curiosity.
Quirk: Ellashan is easily distracted by the promise of the new or interesting. Her insatiable curiosity has gotten her into trouble on more than one occasion. Of all the people you would want noticing a secret, Ellashan would be last on the list because she WILL notice and then it won’t be a secret anymore.
