@eritvita / @mooonborne : “i wanted to see you."
“AND I YOU.” It has been some time since Solas has last seen his dear one, but each time apart gives his heart room for more fondness to grow. “The Inquisitor desired to inspect the dwarven ruins in the Hissing Wastes.” While the sands were scorching in the sun, the moon cast a hypnotic light across the plains. It is not a place one should linger in for long, but the quiet — the quiet can lull anyone into still festering memories. It was certainly a beautiful place to rest beneath the stars, but not a place he would wish to stay in for long. “Come, fenor vhenan. I have something to show you.”

I'll add that it's wildly invasive for a character whose entire trauma began with being coerced into a state of being he didn't want (spirit to flesh) to essentially alter the bodily autonomy of thousands of others without their consent?!
Don't hide your tags they're too good! Literally all of this!
honestly, maybe it's a hot take or whatever, but I think that tearing down the veil and *potentially* bringing back the immortality to the elves would not have helped them a lot
#the reluctance of the writers to let Solas be challenged/have Rook ask questions diminished him so much#we became friends because of me asking him questions wtf are you talking about when you say that I can't ask him shit?#a role playing game with barely any options to ask questions of anyone#Solas only appeared for 5 minutes because any longer and the writers would need to address DAI#Rook has Solas on speed-dial in their head but isn't bothered to press him about his plans? not even details on the evanuris?#HE GIVES MORE INSIGHT INTO CORYPHEOUS THAN INTO GHILAN'NAIN#the way this game made me outright dislike a character I once loved and found sympathetic#what he did in datv and the consequences of his actions made me entirely unsympathetic towards him#boo hoo he's sad about mythal#I'm sad about southern thedas Solas! how about the thousands that got killed as a result of your actions?!#this isn't like the first time with the veil - when he didn't know the result of his actions#no excuse of being desperate to defeat the evanuris either#he knew that what he was doing could result in the deaths of thousands and he went ahead anyway#i'm sorry but a bunch of paintings on the wall doesn't make me sympathize with him after all the shit he's pulled#regretted every choosing to save his ass - as if my inquisitor would give him a free pass after all this#there's a line where Rook can call out Solas and say that he's acting like a God - thinking he's the only one with the solutions#absolutely correct#then for the writers to make the 'good' ending have his abuser 'pardon' him? gtfo#datv critical#datv spoilers#bioware critical#edit to put image under a read more because it was a bit much on the eyes

I think the reason that the lack of multi-dimensional relationships within the party, and for Tav, is eating away at me so much recently is because it’s significantly affecting BG3’s replayableness for me. It’s a huge game, and I’m ever guilty of taking a completionist approach. Now, there are many branching narratives in BG3 which means there’s endless new content to explore by taking different approaches. Personally though, that’s not quite enough of a reason for me to want to keep revisiting a story. I don’t feel compelled to replay hundreds of hours worth of content just to see what happens to Sazza if you rescue her in Act 1 instead of leaving her in the cage. But if I’m invested in a story and the characters in it- I will replay a game 10,000 times just to rewatch my oc become ride or die besties and trauma bond with their companion. Thinking of Liara’s relationship with an unromanced Sheperd in ME3. Tali declaring herself Tali’zorah vas Normandy?? Gut wrenching. Garrus taking you out on a friend date and making fun of your go to catch phrase in the process? Iconic. Varric writing Cassandra a book to bury the hatchet between them? Unforgettable. Solas and Varric co-parenting a kid together? Can’t get enough of it. Those are the interactions that keep me coming back to replay a game over and over again. Seeing the effect my character has on the lives of their friends, and the effect their friends has on them. Absolutely, I adore the romance aspects of these kinds of rpg’s. It is also a reason I will replay a game. But I don’t want to replay a game as massive as BG3 if the only real significant connection my character develops during it is with their love interest. There’s too many hours that have to be invested to just be playing for a couple of scenes with their boo.
Same goes for trying different romances! If I want to try out the game taking a different approach, and exploring a different character’s romance- I’m dedicating a significant amount of time just to get a handful of scenes over the course of the entire game that focus on an emotional connection for my character. If replaying the game with a different oc meant that I could explore their friend dynamics differently as well? Heck yeah. But as it stands, it just feels like you pick your romance option and then have to stand awkwardly while you’re surrounded by acquaintances who want to bang you.

What is it with Baldurs Gate 3, that this game has so many characters I completly obsess about? I am usually a "one-true-blorbo" kinda girl. Fenris, Solas, Garrus, Jaal. Those are my Bioware blorbos.
I might try to smooch some one else but it never really works out.
Now for some reason, in BG3 my brain makes blorbos out of half the cast.
Astarion is my No 1. He is a very angry feral cat and I will love him till I die. He is perfect and sweet and angry and deserves sunlight and hugs and sweet gentle kisses and patience and a fucking hero in shining armor who stands beside him, without expecting shit in return. Who is there and is his shield and voice of reason. Some one who doesn't save him but gives him the space and chance, so he can save himself.
But damn, there is Raphael who takes way to much space in my brain lately. Give me that pillow princess and I will make him so much better he forgets what contracts even are. This poor sweet devil prince who never experienced love or someone who truly cares about him. All he knows is terms and conditions and life is so much more than transaction. Such a shame that he cant be romanced ingame. He is just the best devil and damn he looks soo soo yum. (WHERE IS MY RAPHAEL ROMANCE)
Karlach who is the bestest ever and I want her to ride me into the ground, and I want to hug her and hold her hand and never let her go and tell her is is the best thing since the invention of icecream and she deserves EVERYTHING!
Gale, sweet Gale who deserves unconditional true love, kindness and so many kisses. Someone who tells him "you are enough" and just loves him and blows him till he sees stars.
Wyll who deserves someone loyal, and sweet, who stands beside him and doesn't throw him away and tells him he is perfect the way he is. Also dances in the moonlight yayyy!
Dammon with his cute smile and sweet voice who needs to be smooched very gently. (WHERE IS MY DAMMON ROMANCE? Also he and Karlach would be perfect for each other if not romanced)
Rolan with his snotty attitude who needs to be smooched very hard. Also he needs to be fucked against a wall. (WHERE IS MY ROLAN ROMANCE)
Zevlor who deserves all the hugs and love. Also he needs someone who grabs his horns while riding him into the ground. (WHERE IS MY ZEVLOR ROMANCE)
Lae'zel and Shadowheart are made for each other. They are my sweet angry baes who really need to take a room and fuck it out of their system. Sorry, I would love each one of them but I just don't dare to come between them. But I will be their cheerleader and be the most embarrassing friend when they finally stop being silly. How sad is it that our companions dont find each other if we dont romance them. They deserve love, and Tav/Durge cant kiss them all!
Halsin who gives the sweetest bear hugs and seems somehow lost in Act 3, and should be kissed and hugged and be given lots of little ducky plushies.
Jaheira who is just the coolest and a damn good friend and gives great (bad) advice and who would share a blunt and a bottle of wine and I would listen to her stories all day, I love her so much. We all should have a Jaheira in our life.
Minsc who also tells the best stories and if you want really good (bad) advice you would ask Boo. He would be the best (worst) wingman, and the no 1 person you go to when you have a bad day. He just makes everything better. When in doubt just go and do some asskicking and everything is good.
How can ONE (1) game have so many wonderful characters, where I want to band almost every single one of them.

A bunch of my random, non-story initial opinions of Veilguard, with the knowledge that I do and will love this game no matter what, because I need somewhere to put them all:
I kind of hate the color customization system?? I cannot figure out the brightness and saturation levels to make the colors I want. Am I just dumb?? What am I doing wrong here that all the blonde options look green
I do love the stylized look of the game, it's different from DAI but it has a unique flavor and the colors are very lush (for once in a DA game lol)
So far, rogue has been more fun for me than mage. Haven't tried warrior yet.
i wish we could have customized Inky's arm/prosthetic even a little
It's so cool that we get body tattoos and scars and we can customized which ones go where. Would have loved to be able to mix and match but I know we can't have everything (sigh).
It's pretty apparent as someone who has background with the games, but it would've been cool to have the tattoos labelled "Dalish," "Dwarven," "Lord of Fortune," "Crows," etc for story reasons (even though I'm sure it only matters to the small percent of us who are into the fanfic side of things lol)
Elven ears are huge again and we can't change that. lol it's whatever i guess
The thing about customizing heads based on 3 different heads is...hmm. It's difficult to get the hang of, but I'm glad that you can customize it so much? Still, it's been hard for me to figure out how to make that look good.
they let us check our character in different lighting and with different armor!! great idea
terrible idea: only 3 previous worldbuilding choices. I got spoiled to this so I was prepared. but what the heck was the point of the Keep? why did we waste our time with all of that if none of it was carrying over? Way to flush the previous 15 years of story down the drain. Who's the leader of Orlais and Ferelden? Who's Divine? Who got left in the Fade? Guess it doesn't matter at all! I'm okay that we don't know where our Hero of Ferelden is, it's been long enough in game that their part is done, but Hawke? boo.
At first I was so excited about the "random" name generator! But it's literally just like 15 pre-made names not sorted by race naming conventions that you cycle through. Could've been cooler. oh well I know most of their demographic just wants to kill things I guess
The elves look like dwarves to me for some reason? like they're stockier now, not lithe like DAI. Just takes some getting used to.
While I kind of miss the open world a tiny bit, just for the sake of feeling like we're truly exploring and less "point A to point B," it's also nice not to feel like i'm wasting hours of my time just walking through open nothingness and getting a million meaningless fetch quests
The voices are all so good
Rook's moves are cool, they're fun to play
Speaking of, why do we walk so slowly?! I'm sprinting 100 percent of the time.
Miss the search function for items, even the highlight/glimmer is faint enough with the lighting of the maps I missed a bunch of stuff the first ten minutes
I wish we had a teensy bit more unique dialogues/reactions based on our background/race, so far it's been quite a small amount
I'm undecided on the whole...armor system thing
the maps are gorgeous
I love how many settings we can customize, it's great. I don't care about combat and I can make that part so much less annoying and save myself a bunch of time spamming attacks to get back to the story, which is what I care about, lol
Solas is so hot like this. wow
#dragon age veilguard#datv#datv spoilers#not really but just in case#also if you disagree with me its totally fine but i also dont care lol#not here to argue!

DA Review Series: Vows & Vengeance
<<< Previous Review: The Missing
Here we are. The final review. The last little crumb of DA content I had to consume in my year-long journey to read, watch, play, and listen to all things Dragon Age before Veilguard's release.
For awhile there I didn't think I'd be able to to get it all done, but here we are with two weeks to spare. I don't know how I'm going to survive these next two weeks with no Dragon Age media, but I'm thinking of it as a sort of cleanse. A break to prepare mind, body, and spirit for what comes next...
Veilguard.
Title: Vows & Vengeance Writer(s): Will Melton and Jeremy Novik Publication Year: 2024 In-World Year: 9:45+ Dragon Verdict: I had a lot of fun with this series, despite its at times cringe-worthy writing and the occasional lore discrepancy. Is it a wellspring of lore and info? Not so much. But as an introduction to Veilguard's companions and key characters I think it's quite successful. But, successful doesn't equal necessary so you do you, boo.
Vows & Vengeance follows thief Nadia Carcosa as she tries to save her lover Elio from the Fade. He's stuck there thanks to a certain Dread Wolf and the artifact he surreptitiously hired her to steal — the Eye of Kethisca.
After Solas's ritual goes wrong (this dude is a broken record!) Nadia meets Drayden Kiel, a scholar and historian with a particular interest in the Fade. Their hunt for the Dread Wolf and Elio takes them through much of Northern Thedas, and each episode introduces one of the seven companions in Veilguard.
I found all of the companions incredibly endearing and wonderful. Harding is so sweet and kind, but also a bamf. Davrin is strong and noble, but also extremely charming. Taash is an absolute badass and I can't wait to see more of her dynamic in the group. And of course, Neve is a stunner and not just for her fashion sense.
Bellara's episode was an absolute delight — as a longtime fan of the Dalish, hearing one of the People stand up and speak out against their colonizers was very powerful.
Obviously I LOVED the Lucanis episode, even if Antivan nobility having British accents was buckwild. What we heard from Lucanis told us so much about his character and I can't WAIT to get to know him better, if you know what I mean ;) .
Emmrich and Manfred were such a joy to meet. Their dynamic is so sweet and the kindness just radiates from Emmrich. I can't wait to play rock paper scissors with my little bone buddy.
It was almost unfair, honestly, because the companions were so loveable and Nadia... Wasn't. I really struggled with her, for a lot of the same reasons I struggled with Katara in ATLA. But Nadia doesn't have the excuse of being a child.
Nadia came across as very impatient, oftentimes mean, and incredibly short-sighted. She oscillates between being a know-it-all and being utterly uninterested in understanding what's happening around her. I wasn't really rooting for her, sadly. She was just the vehicle this podcast used to introduce us to these other characters.
I must add here that I absolutely loved Drayden and would be more than happy to meet them in Veilguard or other Dragon Age media in the future. But I am glad Nadia's "retired".
I also feel really bad for Elio. I don't feel like Nadia really processed the fact that he died and that it was her fault (and also Solas's). Or at least, we didn't get to hear her process that. And so her eulogy/vow at the end rang a bit hollow for me. Her emotion and her grasp at closure didn't feel earned.
But! I do want to say that shoving all these characters into eight 45-minute episodes had to have been an INCREDIBLE challenge. And, when compared to other Dragon Age tie-in media, this one is definitely not bad. I know I'm glad I listened, and that my Thursday morning drive has been the highlight of my week for the last eight weeks.
But now it's over. Just like this review series is over. The only thing left to do is sit back and countdown the days until we finally return to Thedas!
TWO WEEKS LEFT, Y'ALL!!!!!!!

i think i remember you mentioning at some point that you're a dragon age fan, so now i gotta know: who's your favorite dragon age companion? 👀
also late and unrelated to dragon age but happy pride! my egg cracked right around the time i discovered your channel back in like february, so the fact that it's gender ambiguous 99% of the time allows me to mix 'n' match genders for the listeners as i see fit lol, which is super freeing. the idea of someone loving me through all this confusion and a potential transition is a huge comfort. I may have dumped it all on poor Boo LMAO-
so thank you!! <3
Happy Pride and Juneteenth!
It's so hard for me to pick a favorite companion. I think Origins is the pound for pound best roster of companions, specifically Morrigan, Alistair, Zevran, and Leliana were huge for me. Zevran did a good job of making me realize I wasn't too bothered by thirsting for another man. 😂
Varric is excellent, I adore him. Suffering writers just...really do it for me. Not being able to kiss him has been the biggest miss in the series for me.
DA2 was mostly a miss for me but I plan to replay it with older, fresh eyes. I was going THROUGH it back then. I also didn't love the design change to elves, I still don't know if I fuck with the really stylized stickbug look? Idk man. I got over it eventually but it was tough.
I think sarcastic Hawke was the only lasting good impression I had outside of Varric.
Inquisition was a return to form. Solas, Dorian (my first romance), and Iron Bull really hit for me. Blackwall is growing on me in my Lavellan playthrough, but she's pursuing the egg for plot reasons.
While I hated DA2 for a lot of reasons (the reused maps really pissed me off because I expected much better from Bioware...I had opinions) I think the moral dilemmas presented through Anders and the Mage/Templar conflict were wonderful and probably stuck with me more than most other Dragon Age plots.
Also, fun fact I realized that people in the know may be amused by: my favorite and "canon" to my playthroughs Hero of Ferelden was a city elf with brown hair, and it is so clear to me that my DnD boy Howell was brewing all the way back then because that's so him. 😭
So if I had to pick a favorite, Alistair and Varric are probably tied. Leliana is also super special to me.

10/17/24: I'm in the process of a major move and don't presently have a lot of time for fandom activities, but I'm still lurking in the background! None of my writing is abandoned, just slow going because Life.
--
This is mostly just a place for me to reblog pictures of my poor little meow meows and occasional blorbos.
Regardless of why you're here, hi! My ask box is open and I'm always glad to have someone to ramble about fandom with.
You don't have to ask before following me! And you never have to talk or interact directly even if you do follow. 💙
there is a not zero chance that im already following you because i have no chill and followed like 300 people when i fell headfirst into bg3

Main Fandoms: Baldur's Gate, Fallout, Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Dishonored, Deus Ex, Cyberpunk, Disco Elysium, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy XV, Dragon Age
These days it's mostly Gortash Brainrot, but if they're a character, any character, in those above fandoms you'll probably see them here somewhere. They are significantly more likely to show up here if they are:
An angry old man who is done with your shit and is absolutely judging you (Cor Leonis, Kim Kitsuragi, Charon)
An evil or morally dubious old man (Enver Gortash, Daud, Joshua Graham, Johnny Silverhand, Solas)
A depressed old man who's just trying his best (Viktor Vektor, Kashiwagi Osamu, Nick Valentine)
An old man in a young man's body (Craig Boone, Arcade Gannon, The Outsider, Adam Jensen, Fenris)
Generally considered problematic and/or obnoxious. (Durge, Benny Gecko, Vulpes Inculta, Deacon)
Someone who matches my ostentatious taste in fashion (Astarion, Zhao Tianyou, Kerry Eurodyne)
The reason my egg cracked (Majima Goro/Goromi, Ignis Scientia, Cloud Strife)
Minsc and/or Boo because they've been my buddies for 25 years, so you can pry them out of my cold dead hands.
Definitely not a comprehensive list, but it should give you a general idea.

Baldur's Gate 3 - companion ranking.
Decide for yourselves whether my list is accurate or not. Whichever you decide, please do @ me, bro. I'm interested to know who your favorite character is!
I switched up my usual intro. What do you think? Anyway. Let's begin. This is a list of the companions in Baldur's Gate 3. I think I got all of them. There's so many. They are enumerated from best to worst.
Wyll Ravenguard, the Blade of the Frontiers. Really got a stick up his ass. I try to romance him and he starts throwing out disapproves whenever I talk to someone else. Motherfucker I'm not the one flirting with them I just want to know what they're up to. Stuck up piece of shit. Also I guess he's a hypocrite that literally sold his soul for power (he says he had a good reason…) But mainly I'm mad about him being a fucking diva when other people flirt with me. Fuckin' Wyll… Wyll stans got pissy at me because they didn't get the joke. Well, his placement at the very bottom of the list was a joke. Don't tell the stans, but my review was completely accurate) What? I didn't say anything. I mean, Wyll Ravenguard is Ao's gift to humanity. There exists no person in this world that is better than Wyll. I could wax loquacious about all the ways in which Wyll is perfection beyond perfection, but I won't bore you with the details. Suffice it to say that no matter what Karlach's entry may suggest, Wyll is truly the greatest of the great.
Scratch the dog. Maybe it's just because I'm a dog person, but there's no way you can convince me that Scratch isn't the best.
The owlbear cub, for much the same reasons as Scratch. Although I can't say I have any strong feelings one way or the other about owls or bears...
Karlach. No question that Karlach would take the top spot if Scratch and the owlbear weren't around. As she is the first companion that is both A: a good person and B: not a prick about it on top of being irrepressibly cheerful and kind, there is no question that Karlach is the best official companion (Scratch and the owlbear are more pets/familiars than companions). I mean, Gale is also a good guy too and he's not an asshole about it, but he's kind of a tool. Karlach is a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.
Editing this one in, because I FORGOT WITHERS! Rookie mistake. Sorry, Withers!
Jaheira. I never played the first two Baldur's Gate games, but I understand that Jaheira is a returning character. Either way, she's a fuckin' badass. A regular in my final party.
Shadowheart/Lae'zel. It's hard to choose between the two. They've both got excellent storylines, which are actually quite similar in a lot of ways. And they're both badass chicks. What's not to love?
Boo, the miniature giant space hamster and his human familiar, Minsc of Rashemen. Also often a fixture in my party, because he's funny.
Gale Dekarios. To be honest, I wasn't crazy about Gale at first. Kind of pretentious. But he's grown on me. Yes, he is kind of a tool, but at least he generally likes it when I'm nice to people, unlike a certain vampire who shall remain unnamed... also he eats three of my magic items. Not that I was using them but it's the principle of the matter!
(this is Wyll's true rating, but ignore it because obviously he belongs at the top of the list. PLEASE LIKE ME!)
Halsin. Ever wanted to fuck a bear? In every sense of the word? Well, have I got news for you!
Astarion. WHY DO YOU HATE IT WHEN I'M NICE TO PEOPLE, ASTARION??!?!?!?!?!? IT'S SO ANNOYING!!!
The dirt.
The worms inside the dirt.
The stool of the worms inside the dirt.
Minthara. A giant asshole. Which I guess is to be expected. Still better than Solas. Yes, I know they are from two different games. Shut up. Fuckin' Solas...
The Emperor. He of the gaslighting and the tentacles.
The Absolute. Yes, the main bad guy. I'd rather hang out with the main bad guy than...
Oh, lemme edit this in. Just in case. If you, for some reason, get your dander up about the contents of this list, please refrain from reblogging this to just whinge about what a terrible person I am. Not that I am opposed to someone challenging my ideas, but the death spiral does get tedious quite fast. If you really really got an axe to grind, try the PMs. Please and thank you. :)

You know, I think it would be SO interesting to see, how the Dragon Age companions would react to/talk with the Baldur's Gate 3 characters, like
Bull, Dorian and Solas would be so sassy to Raphael
Cole would be Halsin's bestie
Sera and Minsc (& Boo) would be extra chaotic friends
Morrigan and Shadowheart would be lost sisters
Cassandra and Jaheira would just GET each other
Vivienne would be fond of Lae'zel
Varric would chat a lot with Gale
Astarion and Dorian would talk badly about each other's choice of clothing but secretly admire one another's style
Blackwall would play with Scratch and talk for hours with Zevlor
And well, everyone would love Karlach

Constantly evolving thoughts on Dragon Age: the Veilguard
Likes
* Strong gameplay
* Maps and side quests much better than inquisitions giant, empty “open world” maps and feel more important
* REALLY enjoy the cast. Taash, Lucanis, and Davrin are my personal favorites, although Harding’s quest was a stand-out
* Generally, the plot. Starts a little slow and clunky but after Weishaupt I was very engaged
* Less decisions, but when a big decision pops up, it really feels like it matters. I very much like this style in massive rpgs (like the Witcher)
* Love rook customization screen and the dialogue system. Love how Rook looks through the game
* Trans discussions, though I liked this more at the beginning than when the game went on. As a non-binary person it felt very 101 with textbook definitions which is sorta…not the point and also not what transness is? Made me think a lot about language and what language we clock as “strange.” Also about how people are scared of breaking gender too thoroughly and so treat being non-binary as a third option rather than a transgressive disavowment of definitions in the first place
* Rook and Solas’ situationship
* I’ve enjoyed further explorations and additions to the lore. Standouts: anything to do with Solas and Mythal, Rivaini culture, the Mourn Watch, spirits, and Kal-Sharok
* Like the CONCEPT of your previous heroes fighting for the south. Execution …
* Feels like there is a LOT of fanfic potential
* seems as though this is slightly controversial, but I have been happily eating the scraps given to me by the Lucanis romance. My emotional attachment to that man is embarrassing
Dislikes
* Companion approval and disapproval don’t really matter
* I’d like to have staple dialogue I can chat with the companion about, not just cut scenes. Even if I do all of it all at once and then only do the cut scenes the rest of the game
* I wish the initial quests with companions had full convos surrounding them. (And the gift scenes!!) Companion interactions get EXPONENTIALLY better as the game goes on
* I wish the factions and companions fought with each other and you more. Would make them feel more fully realized
* I do want it to go darker. Specifically surrounding Tevinter (slavery and bigotry) and the crows (stealing children and then making them fight to the death) ignoring or sidelining past lore feels almost worse than just actually discussing that the world is fucked up
* Mages, templars, and chantry conflicts are some of the most interesting in the world. I REALLY wish we got more. Or any.
* And I do think previous game save files would have added a lot to the experience…and they wouldn’t have even had to make the game that different. Make it focused around what happens in the south and have some level of control over how bad the devastation is, have Harding and the inquisitor mention specific moments once or twice
* The south being wiped out feels cheap and dissatisfying
Other
* The game is A LOT like mass effect 2 (positive). Disagree that it is like dragon age 2 except for not being able to just randomly chat with companions. I made a PowerPoint about this and subjected my friends to it, but tldr: no game with world-ending stakes resolved in less than a year with a professionally put together team can be a spiritual successor to Dragon Age 2. Especially when you sanitize the darker aspects of the world
Wants
* The next game to be set in the south again. Rebuilding, fleeing, or otherwise. Let me play a refugee in a single city again I dare you BioWare. (They won’t)
* A game set in the past. So much of Dragon Age is about how the world remembers history, so there is SO MUCH room to play around without breaking cannon. If BioWare weren’t cowards they’d let you play as Andraste (crowd booing)

I always enjoy doing this one -- it's fun to see if your first lines follow any specific patterns!
************
Becoming Whole (Aloy x Kotallo, Horizon: Forbidden West)
He woke to the sound of howling.
2. Even The Hardiest Desert Blooms Have To Get Wet Sometimes (Aloy x Drakka, Horizon: Forbidden West)
It was close to midday when Drakka spotted the signature blue headlight of a tamed Charger on the approach.
3. Finding Something In Common (Aloy x Drakka x Nil, Horizon: Forbidden West)
Nil chuckled. “You’re ruthless when you’re riled up, aren’t you?” he crooned.
4. Inevitable (Lucy x David, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners)
Never trust a soul in Night City.
5. The Wisdom In A Bowl Of Pudding (Tamaris Lavellan x Felassan, Dragon Age)
“This way, hah’ren,” Felassan said. He glanced over his shoulder, but Solas wasn’t there.
6. I Wanna Do Bad Things With You (Deputy x John Seed, Far Cry 5)
If there was anything John Seed knew, it was that God had a plan.
7. What You'd Do For The One You Love (Geralt of Rivia x f!Reader, The Witcher 3)
Later, you’ll think back to that moment.
8. Pleasurable Pastimes (Nare Lavellan x Solas, Dragon Age)
Nare is standing. She is standing, supporting her own weight on her own two feet, but with Solas kissing her, she forgets that the ground is even there.
9. Sensate (Fuu x Jin x Mugen, Samurai Champloo)
He watches her as they travel, and it is exhausting.
10. Just Hold On, We're Going Home (Fuu x Jin x Mugen, Samurai Champloo)
Fuu’s life was pretty good these days.
And as a bonus, from my new WIP that's not yet posted:
Coming In Like A Western Wind (Aloy x Avad, Horizon: Forbidden West)
Avad had always been a dreamer.
Hope you guys enjoyed! Excited to see what everyone else's first lines are like! 🥰

I am having the WEIRDEST second playthrough of DAI. It's all because of Solas. wtf Solas. He is EPITOMIZING Katy Perry this go round.
After First Fade Kiss--
Solas: Let's just be friends, k?
Lanil Lavellan, my acespec girl: You're right. we SHOULD be friends.
After All New, Faded For Her--
Solas: I haven't forgotten that kiss.
(Me: WTF???)Lanil: .... you know what. Me too, let's go.
Solas: Ar lath ma, vhenan
(Me: WTFUUUUU-) Lanil: *smiles*
Winter Palace--
Lanil: Let's dance!
Solas: Of course.
*Josephine shows up instead and Solas continues to call her lethallan and never calls her vhenan again*
Me: W.T.SERIOUS.FUCK. FINE! CULLLLLEEEEENNNNNN
*Everyone in the game comments on Lanil/Cullen relationship. I go through every scene offered. Even lock in the romance and have the sex/I love you scene. EVERYONE KNOWS CULLEN-WULLEN IS WITH THE INQUISITOR*
After Temple of Mythal--
Solas: Come with me, vhenan
Me: wait. what.
*I'm Crestwood at the temple*
Me: Wait WHAT
Solas: I was trying to determine some way to show you what you mean to me.
Lanil: I know what we mean to each other. Then, *I feel the same way option*
Me: WHAT THE #^$^@#^#$;@ IS GOING ON
*plays through the whole scene, evens gets vallaslin removed, then goes to see Cullen*
Cullen: Andraste preserve me, I have to send you to him.
Lanil: I got this, boo.
Me: Is Lanil... in a polyamorous relationship?

I watched all of DA:A and I have ~thoughts~
How very dragon age to make everyone gay af and I am here for it
I love Ashley Williams Jasper Allura Miri so much and I hope to see her in games as a companion. Also I want her and Fenris to be bffs.
Qwydion has done nothing wrong ever in her life (not sarcasm she is perfect she is pure the entire cast does not deserve her)
I want Tassia to step on me....... too bad she's super into ProblematicWhiteDudeProbablyTheVillian™ voiced by Shiro from Voltron
I KNeW that Fairbanks would NEVER I suspected Hira from the start (also - canon sapphics??? absolutely not lol. also we gotta have a mage betrayal somewhere)... but I had thought she could be working for Solas, not MEREDITH who I guess isn't dead in the center of Kirkwall??? Not sure how I feel about that tbh; kinda weird.
On that note Hawke is actually really bad at killing things (though purple Hawke said otherwise)
I did a double take at the name "Pavus"
Rezaren... I am disappointed. I was intrigued by the fact that he thought of Miri as family and was like 'wow!! a complex villian!!' but then he had to go all ~obviously evil~ on us. Boo. "Less than a slave". Big Yikes. Would have been more interesting if he actually had good intentions and not selfish ones.
BUT I appreciated the difference of how Miri remembered her childhood in a negative light as someones property, while Rezaren had painted it in a positive light and remembered them as siblings. But I would have preferred it if he realized his position of privilege at some point, since he kinda seemed like a sort-of-okay dude at first?
idk maybe I just like stories that show the adventures of the protagonists and the antagonists simultaneously. Where it's not like 'because they're EEEEEEEVIL' with 0 explanation for their actions.
The lightning fast pacing doesn't stop the entire season and it's really a shame. But it was still fun to watch.
And would NOT be fun to watch for anyone who wasn't a dragon age fan prior. So much lore... so many callbacks... this was 100% for dragon age enjoyers and no one else
To be continued???

I took notes on my real time reactions to Veilguard and will be breaking them up into sections with my follow up thoughts! SPOILERS APLENTY so avoid under the cut!
Part 1: Boot up, Character Creator and Companion intros
I’m not a sound nerd but my bf is. It was really cool to see that this game has like next level sound design! There is a profile for a crazy type of soundscape that I got a sample of that's like. Dynamic and molded to the room you're in. It makes it sound like things are whizzing past you or moving around you more than regular surround sound will. We don’t have that level of sound system set up but if we do one day, I’ll look forward to the replay. I don’t play many like new/current/hip games but this is the first time I’ve seen that in a game setting and I can imagine hearing magic shots whizz past you and griffons circling the room would be super cool.
Character Creator took a bit to get used to. I love my rook now but took some finessing to make them look… human (I played an elf but regardless). Figuring out the head triangle thing was strange but once I figured out how to change the head presets it got better. I think the hair physics are GREAT but the styles are... somewhat strange in how they sit on the head or stray about 5% too cartoonish. Very funny to now be seeing everyone else's Rook's and we all chose the kind of wavy medium hair lol.
I was NOT going in with a very strong concept for my Rook other than knowing I was probably going to be an elf and mage again because that's generally what I like to play and I knew I wanted them to be pretty hostile to Solas in contrast to my Lavellan. So I had no clue what would be a good faction to suit them. I ended up choosing the Veil Jumpers just because I was like sure whatever I'll stick with the most Elfy Option. I figured since they're researching ancient elves, my Rook wouldn't be disillusioned about the god's or Solas. Early in the game I don't think it as a choice makes much sense but I've figured out how to write their backstory so it makes sense (Rook intro post to come).
I knew I wanted my Rook to be a huge ass to Eggman. She does not care for the elven gods and I wanted her to have the sass and resentment of a teen daughter left by Solas after the Solavellan divorce. (She is not their kid at all).
Similarly I love that Varric has a Hero Type and picked up just another snarky, soft-hearted, hard headed gremlin. In part because he'd like them, and in part because he thinks there's something enough like Lavellan in them to knock some sense into Solas.
omg they stabbed Varric. had to NOT SCREAM and wake up the whole house (my live reaction)
2nd almost scream moment was Harding getting her powers/almost falling off a cliff. TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT. Freaked out seeing her drop, music got to me, and the BRIEFEST flash of relief when she rose up but then DEEP DEEP CONCERN over that Exorcist shit.
wow the Tevinter Nights bingo is popping off. Lots of cameos.
wow ALL the dragon age bingo is popping off!! really happy to see things paid off after so much build up! the lore is good!!! (I believe this was in reference to the mural reveals about Mythal and Solas as spirits, the titans etc)
stoked we got Maevaris cameo and IMMEDIATE DORIAN cameo!!!! so happy!! The mustache is fab, he looks like a mean old queen, the beard could be better. i hate when they use standard hair models for beards: it isn’t the same texture. It works enough on Lucanis because it's dark but it being brown on Dorian you can see how the highlights are wrong.
love Neve for my Rook's Bestie. (whoops reading this after I let Minrathous get fucked up hard and she gets pissed at me for awhile...). Got a lot of approval with their similar dry/wry humor.
love puss in boo- i mean Lucanis
reluctant griffin Dadvrin. Really loved this because from trailers and intros I thought he would already be close to Assan, so I really enjoy that he is the reluctant custodian of this creature. I love a "we're both learning from each other" animal relationship.
Vorgoth is bae
not thrilled about a forced hardened choice but i’m trying to smooch Lucanis so i helped Traviso
will cry about Davrin codex naming Assan. Parenting and cat dad all in one ugh my heart.
Emmerich is super charming!! As a long time Vincent Price and John Waters fan I love his design and Vibe so much but he's much more Mr Rogers. Also I canNOT romance him as a young woman Rook. That man is GAY. Love his fear of mortality as a necromancer that's so fascinating and fun to explore.
Manfred is, of course, darling.
I. Love. Taash. I love an Autistically Blunt character. And cool to have the fire breather confirmation!!
Ok that's it for now! Next batch will probably have more spoilers going into plot and/or the positives and negatives of writing. Or I'll take a break and do my Rook Intro.
