Little Hand
by Joanna Newsom
Take her down, Tom* the time has come at last I can hear her song. Water contracts, the hold holds fast like the last of the iron lungs.
My child and me through the miles and leagues fall as hard as a silent hail. Echoing laughter ‘fore and after o’er the raft of the Violet Snail
Now when that sight put the fear of God in you; green light sweeps like a nightstick swinging.
Sonar* softly pinging-ing-ing-ing-ing-ing-ing-ing
I am appeased by what I have seen. Now turn around, Ma, you already saw what you may and can look no further; haunted the post where the Holy Ghost poses down through the rayless water.
Holding a child, nine and nice, ain’t it wild and sweet? On the verge of anguish. Ain’t it absurd? I do not have words it is not for the lack of language.
Tethered to our floating home, we scout for the crown and its placard.
Your periscope, your parapet are ringing-ing-ing-ing-ing-ing-ing-ing
I’ll guard and keep, thy father watches the sheep. And I swear on my soul if it is all folderol let us ring round the roses, honey, gobbling all our sounds of woe into hey nonny nonny nonny.
Last and at least when the fire has ceased, and if it’s safe the sun shall breakaway. Shocked it’s released we rise automatically folderol-diddle-i-di-die-di-day.
Music set us spinning and spinning, inscribe the memory of the honey bee with the silence of the ballerina.
We took a little walk across the lawn, it was two o’clock, with my soft shoes on. I met you at the door, May I cross the calm, I called, May I tag along? Hear you bawl a little sad song. It’s a sad song. Keep singing it, honey, it ain’t long. Sing and I’ll keep you safe and warm until the dawn.
DSRV-2 Avalon, wherever you are, wherever you’ve gone, leaning you cheek in to the amber yellow dawn, highway one. We’ve been itching to meet you, recommission to meet you, if you listen I’ll teach you a sad song.
Sing your machinery to sleep and shut the door. Even Janthina once was as you are, sworn anathema to the guns and the megatons and all. Only Janthina can defeat the men o’war.
If you could only hear my joy just to know her, tie her little shoe, take her little hand and say hello to her, ‘hello‘, and there really ain’t a lot I can show her.
Up on the deck are we safe from harm? Are we ready to surface? In every respect sound the alarm. Oh, it goes so fast, it will feel slow. We will arrive before you know, we’re free to go if we don’t get stuck, we’ll be there by morning with a little luck.
na-na-na-na-na-na-na *pinging*
Lay her down, Tom, we are overrun but there is time for another story. Smoke at the door as I fall on all fours coiling blue as a morning glory. It is the hour, see the little hand, see the lambs we have kept and guarded. Tower of steel, cartwheel in the sand with the force of the waters parted.
It is the hour we are far from home, we the lambs who will not be slaughtered. I am not afraid, I am not alone, I’m not alone, I have brought my daughter. I’m not alone.
#joanna newsom#little hand#again most of the lyrics i heard are the same as others heard with a couple changed words#two things with * here#i first really heard 'take her downtown' and it makes sense but upon further listening 'tom' can be a character#and the second time downtown makes less sense so 'tom' it is#now 'sonar'... i hear 'solark' and it's poetically really pleasing to me and it does make a pinging noise and i also hear and see 'l' lilt#but they are in a submarine type scenario so 'sonar' is more logical i guess#anyway#i'm just slow i'm sorry#love joanna#jnew#jnew5 lyrics

Evaluation
In this very last blog post I am going to evaluate my work based on many factors I have set for myself. As I look back on my major project, I’m really pleased with how it turned out, both in terms of how it looks and how it functions. My goal was to create a world that’s visually appealing and technically solid, and I feel like I achieved that. The color choices and the types of assets I used really brought the two versions of Solark to life, helping to tell the story I wanted to share.
What Went Well
I’m particularly proud of how I handled the UV unwrapping. I focused on texel density, which might sound very technical, but it just meant that the textures on my models look sharp and detailed, even up close. That extra effort paid off, especially since I also kept the models low-poly, to an optimisation degree that ensures a game runs smoothly without losing visual quality if these assets are used.
Getting feedback from other artists was another big plus. I kept asking for feedback and input from my fellow 3D artists friends which kept my work's quality in check. I also posted my work in Discord servers and got valuable advice from others. Not to forget the weekly feedback sessions from both the workshop and personal one-on-one tutorial. This outside input helped me make the right adjustments and confirmed that I was on the right path. I tried submitting my final video to the Dinusty Discord server as participation in their solarpunk two-months challenge, but did not get much interaction. So, I turned to a different Discord server which my previous instructor set up for both students and alumni like me to post finished work and get feedback. I got some good advice from another 3D artist regarding my cinematics and camera transitions which was very insightful.
Evaluation by comparison
When I compare my work to some of the games I admire, I think it stands up pretty well. For example, the grass I created feels similar in quality to the grass in "Immortals Fenyx Rising." While their grass is excellent, I’m happy with how mine turned out detailed, vibrant, and fitting well within the stylised look of the environment.
As for the lighting and atmosphere, I aimed to create a mood similar to what developers created for the game "Journey". While "Journey" is famous for its beautiful lighting, I think I captured a similar vibe, especially in the Wasteland of Awala which resembles the desert in Journey. The way the light interacts with the environment adds depth and really helps to highlight the differences between the two worlds.
I also compared my assets to ones made by game studios. For example I compared my airship/quadcopter asset to the spaceship in "Journey to the Savage Planet." The spaceship in that game is highly detailed and has a unique style that stands out. My airship, while different in design, holds up well in terms of art style and functionality. The level of detail I achieved in my model matches the quality expected in a game-ready asset, making it a solid addition to my project.
Areas for Improvement
Of course, there are always things that could have been done better. My texture channels, for example, weren’t as efficient as they could have been. Looking back, I realize that using trim sheets or atlases would have been a smarter choice, especially for optimising the game environment.
I also think I could have done more with LUTs (lookup tables) and HDRI to texture the assets. This would have helped everything blend come out better in Unreal Engine, giving the project a more polished look. Additionally, relying more on procedural content generation could have reduced the amount of manual work I had to do, saving me time and effort.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’m happy with how the project turned out. I achieved my goals and project deliverables, and created a cinematic piece that looks good aesthetically and works well technically in evoking emotions. At the same time, I learned a lot about areas where I can improve, and these lessons will definitely help me in future projects.

Pre-production IV
During the pre-production period, I spent lots of time researching and watching all sorts of tutorials and project breakdowns to increase my knowledge in creating a stylised environment. I wanted to ensure I would be ready to begin testing the process and officially start developing my project during production.
The following phase was to create my pre-production document and pitch presentation. But to effectively convey my vision, I needed more than just words on a slide, I needed a visual identity. So, that's when the quest for a name, title, and logo began. I ended up calling the game concept (project title), "Solark: Shadows of Tomorrow", a name deeply rooted in the thematic elements and narrative background of the project. The word "Solark" immediately evokes an idea of the sun, light, and energy. In the context of my project, it symbolises the central theme of harnessing green energy and technology and the main variable that differentiates the two worlds. Solark also represents the utopian Mehala, a place full of sunshine, and a beacon of prosperity, in contrast to the barren wasteland of Awala.
To me, the second part "Shadows of Tomorrow" represents an interesting contrast between progress and stagnation or hope and despair. The "shadows" refer to the harsh life of the people of Awala, who exist in the shadow of Mehala's affluence and hope for a brighter future. It raises questions about how the terrible realities experienced by people on the opposite side of the divide compare to the bright future that green technology promises. Furthermore, the word "tomorrow" connotes the potential for better days ahead for Kaia despite her current struggles.
My design process began as such: I started searching through Behance's extensive font library for the main title, then in Adobe Illustrator, I tried out several combinations of styles until I found the one that best embodied the idea. I created shapes and curves using the pen tool as well to give the title more depth and character. I also added light glows and a gradient background to give the title more brightness. By using a discord AI bot called AIIG, I created an initial image (the one above this paragraph), which I then carefully edited and improved in Adobe Photoshop so I can use it as a backdrop. I used Photoshop' s generative AI tool to expand it and add elements and details that match my vision. However, the process didn't end there. I added texture layers to make the title page look more stylised, and create an illusion of tactile depth with paper and film overlays that I obtained from Behance. Each component was carefully chosen and skillfully blended to create a title that not only looks good but also acted as a visual representation of the story and artistic vision of the project.

Just like we saw Gormians and pawtucket's pets celebrate christmas together, which on the point of view of all dimensions together is called "Disneycember". As you see the Gormians can be defined like Santa claus' elves and Rhodium the solark is actually Comet from the older gormiti wearing a technological armor. #ignotectorverse #sharpyxrosy #joshsharp #snow #lps #littlestpetshop #lpsaworldofourown #lpsawooo #littlestpetshopaworldofourown #portalmasterplayer #animalcrossing #animalcrossinggirl #gormiti #gormiti2018 #heraldsofgorm #kittenxbananas #matildaxboxer #happy #happytogether #christmas2022 #christmas #xmas #interdimensional #disneycember #solark #rodium #gormians #christmasmarket https://www.instagram.com/p/CmHoi9Potd2/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

re: the Most Likely game, I want to know more about what sorts of mischief Mahrias and Viter get into together. :) are they the kind of duo that people start to worry what they're up to if they've both been quiet/missing for too long?
Thanks for the ask!
Their parents don't really care what they get up to, but Lark (their father's Nivada) definitely notices and tries his best to keep them out of too much trouble.
If you tell one of them not to do something, they'll immediately side-eye each other like "challenge accepted" lol
People think that Mahrias is the mastermind behind most of their mischief, but Viter is actually a little evil genius hiding under a mask of innocence. He knows that he can use his adorableness as a manipulation tactic and he does so often.
He's also very creative which is why he always wins "nasuh piki" - a game that he made up with Mahrias. It involves going up to someone and telling them a completely made up story and seeing how far they can push it before the other person realises "that's bullshit" lol
One of their favourite pranks was the time they taught a zarimp phrases that made it look like it was directly talking to Lark, like "Lark, my good man, fetch me some grapes at once" and "Lark, I am naked. Why are we not allowed the dignity of clothes?" (This may be what led to Lark knitting them little jumpers.)
They love visiting Auren, because Osin happily gets involved in a prank war with the two of them. He's a big kid at heart and they love it that he's so willing to play with them.
He has an ongoing prank with the two of them involving a really ugly Shraki figurine that Osin made when he first started learning to whittle. Whoever has it has to try and sneak it into the others possession without them noticing. Mahrias and Viter are very good at this - one time they hid it on the top of Osin's four-poster bed so it was peeking down at him. It took him two months to notice and Visesha was very confused when he started crying with laughter during sex one time lol
#thanks for the ask!#i wasnt expecting to go so long with this lol sorry#wip: blue blood#oc: mahrias kontemno#oc: viter kontemno#oc: lark brae#oc: osin solark

Solar in Michigan
Looking at the higher costs of electricity, using solar energy in Michigan could be a great option commercially as well as residential usage. Solar power or we may say green power energy is more cost effective and Michigan’s climate is also good for the production of solar power. Rendering and post-production
In this wrapping-up stage, it was finally time to start rendering my cinematic video. Before doing so, I had to add all Niagara particle systems to the level sequence and animate their automatic spawn and visibility by adding keyframes. Following that, since I had previously configured different levels for atmosphere and lighting for the first scene, I had to switch the visibility on or off for each lighting scenario depending on the camera rendering. The render settings were relatively basic, with an Antialiasing value set to 32 and a Warmup render count set to 100 to give enough time for cameras to adjust t the exposure of the environment and the particle systems to start spawning.
Then came the time for post-production and editing. The first thing I did was working on the voice over narration in Adobe Premiere Pro. I had asked my cousin Joyce if she would like to do the voice acting for Kaia and read the script I had written, and she agreed to it. The main task was to clean up the recording a bit by reducing noise levels and adjusting the pitch and volume so that they didn't fluctuate an lot and remained stable. I tried out some echo and voice effect presets but decided to keep it simple in the end as it felt too distracting.
In Adobe After Effects, I ordered the renders according to the chain of though based on the script, and added some simple fade in and fade out transitions using solid layers. I played over a royalty-free piano soundtrack I found on YouTube that added a cinematic calm atmosphere similar to anime films. The rest was just adding other copyright-free ambient noise and nature sounds also from YouTube. In the end of the video, I added the "Solark" game title I designed last semester in Adobe Illustrator, as well as my name.

Before, hello! I want to ask anything. If the Gormians are descended from the elemental Lords to which they belong, And LordVoidus was also Light visionary, is Ao-ki descended from him. Because in season 3, Ao-ki was alpha and could control this energy. And yet,Aoki is solark or darkan?Or was Voidus also a Solark?
Hi! Glad to meet another Gormiti fan! 😊
So far we don't have certain answers about Ao-ki. You're right in saying that she likely descends from the Darkans since they used to be Gormiti of Light, but she also definitely used alfa energy. Nothing is for sure 😅😅
Season 3 ended with Ao-ki asking herself about her origins so perhaps that will be addressed once and for all in season 4! Let's hope for it!
