A small excerpt from the Solar System Swap AU. Cycnus reflects on his complicated relationship and interactions with Dynamis after the final battle.

The Solar Swap AU features the Solar System Bladers working towards Nemesis, while the Nemesis Bladers work alongside Gingka and company.

What if the Solar System Bladers and the Nemesis Bladers switched roles? The Solar System Bladers now on the side of evil, while the Nemesis Bladers are good?

This is the Solar Swap Alternate Universe, where the roles have been reversed. Yes, this means Dynamis is the main baddie now and Pluto is the good guy (for once which is unbelievable).

The first references I have completed are Dynamis, King, and Tithi. Aguma and Yuki will come around sometime in the future. Pluto’s design has been around since last year but I’d like to remake his reference again. 

There are some cool ideas that I’m proud of for this AU, so I’m hoping to share them sometime in the future.

It’s the Yotsubato! Pose but with Dynamis, King, and Tithi. If you couldn’t already tell, this is the Solar System Blader Swap/Solar Swap AU versions of them. If you know anything about what happens in that alternate universe, then you’ll probably understand what the quote means.

This drawing was inspired by @qloof ‘s original drawing of Dynamis, King, and Tithi in this same pose. It’s a really cute drawing (and much more wholesome considering what happens in Solar Swap) so go check it out HERE

This is also not my first time drawing the funny Yotsubato pose. I actually drew it for MayBlade 2022 but with Rago, my OC Elysse, and Pluto. It’s funny to see how much my art improved from that. Just like that drawing, I replaced the original Yotsubato text. This time around, it’s “Olympus” but in Japanese.

Also, first full rendered piece of the year and it took 7 hours...my goodness.

MFB: Solar Swap AU Basic Character Information

Figured I don’t talk about the Solar Swap AU in detail enough, so I’m going to do that here and provide some brief descriptions on the different people and the ideas I have right now.

For those who don’t know, Solar Swap AU is an alternate universe where the Nemesis Bladers and the Solar System Bladers switch roles (ie: Nemesis Bladers are the good Legendary Bladers and Solar System Bladers are working for Nemesis). Metal Fusion and Metal Masters are basically follow the same events with maybe one or two very minor detail changes (Hades Inc. called Zeus Inc. instead)

The AU mainly revolves around Pluto and Dynamis, who have had a rivalry/feud for many years, both over who has the better company and over Nemesis. Solar Swap follows Pluto, Gingka, and his friends as they search for the legendary bladers to stop Dynamis and Nemesis.

 Now, onto the basic descriptions for the people that have been changed:

Pluto

CEO of Hades Incorporated. Pluto is the Legendary Blader of well, Pluto (he refers to himself as a Legendary Blader of Hades, not like it’s much better since that is his last name too). His second-in-command and best friend is Johannes. He has had his rivalry against Dynamis since he was a youth. Much like his canon counterpart, he is the direct descendant of King Hades and a strong advocate for Hades’ Law. He is the one that explains the whole situation to Gingka and the others, leading them to go on their search for the rest of the Legendary Bladers.

Dynamis

CEO of The Olympus Corporation. Dynamis may wield Jade Jupiter here, but his end goal is to revive and use Nemesis as a means of ending the world. There is no “I will take over and rule the world”, he just wants to get rid of everything. He employs the rest of the Solar System Bladers (Yuki, Tithi, King, Aguma) to do his bidding. He is responsible for orchestrating all the events of Fusion and Masters. Dynamis is a descendant of King Zeus in this alternate universe.

Johannes

Pluto’s best friend and bodyguard. He may not be a Legendary Blader, but his skill and battle mastery is not to be underestimated. He often accompanies Pluto to keep him safe from harm, but sometimes is tasked with quite mundane tasks every now and then. He is the older brother of Motti.

Yuki

The second-in-command of Dynamis, he wields Mercury Anubis and his magical abilities to take down anyone who gets in his way. He has his own rivalry with Johannes and the other members within Olympus Corporation. He often finds himself confronting Pluto, Gingka and company as they try to look for the star fragments.

King and Tithi

Both were hired by Dynamis to work for the Olympus Corporation. Thanks to their exceptional talent in Beyblade, they have quickly rose the ranks within the company. Despite that, because of their young age and kinder nature, they’ve been left in the dark when it comes to information about Nemesis’s revival. They get along and look up to Dynamis a lot, not realizing his true plans for the world.

Aguma and Bao

Being offered to make the Beylin Fist the top school in the blading world, they have been working for Olympus Corporation as leaders of the defense division. They are responsible for training new recruits as part of the agreement made between them and Olympus Corporation. They were promised to be a part of the world takeover, but are not aware of the complete destruction aspect. The two of them still participate in ToRyumon to search for the legendary bladers.

Herschel

A wandering vagrant and the Legendary Blader of Uranus. He goes where the winds take him, and that leads to him being the ToRyumon partner for Johannes after Gingka takes Pluto as his blading partner instead. Herschel joins the group until Destroyer Dome, where he departs with Keyser to continue the search. He eventually reconvenes with the group during Beyster Island.

Keyser

The Legendary Blader of Musca, he is a detective tasked with investigating the Olympus Corporation for suspicious activity due to their connection with Zeus Incorporated. He participates in Destroyer Dome to see if he can find more information, but is found by Pluto and the others. He ends up going along with Herschel to continue their investigation. He joins back with everyone else during the Beyster Island tournament.

Cycnus

The Legendary Blader of Cygnus. He is Dynamis’s top blader and the one he sends for the toughest and most grueling missions due to his aggressive and unforgiving nature. Cycnus is the one that fights against Pluto, Rago, and Kyoya during the Neptunis Island Incident (similar to Mist Mountain). Cygnus’s existence has been completely hidden from the public, much akin to a trump card. He ends up moving to the side of good after he is betrayed by Dynamis during the revival ceremony.

Rago

The Legendary Blader of Neptune, he is a lighthouse keeper in a small town. He spends a lot of his time preserving and researching information related to the old kingdom of Atlantis. With the arrival of the star fragments, Rago goes off to Neptunis Island, that still has remaining technology from the old kingdom of Atlantis. He uses the old magic canon to shatter the star fragment so that the pieces wouldn’t fall into Dynamis’s hand. He used to know Dynamis when he was a young child, but the friendship fell apart after Rago left with his family to live elsewhere. Rago is forced to work with Dynamis after getting cursed to do his bidding, but is eventually let go after the spell is broken by the Legendary Bladers.

That is all I have for just the character information. I won’t dump this in Metal Record because if I do write Solar Swap, I want it to be its own fic or separate entity. I have, SO MUCH more information, but I would need individual posts for that. Top 5 mfb aus! Can be either yours or those of others!

Shoot this is very hard because I suck at ranking them. Instead, I'll list the AUs that I really like the ideas for, not really in any order just ones I love coming across. I'll also include one of my AUs (this one should be obvious) but for the most part, I would like to feature the AUs that other people have made.

@artisadie 's Ryo Survives the Volcano Instead of Gingka AU: This AU just has so much angst and it's so well thought out. I may not pay much attention to Ryo or Gingka most of the time but Sadie is always so good at keeping me intrigued. Absolutely love seeing the art associated with this particular AU.

2. @curedeity Faust Joins Team Star Breaker Early AU: This AU that you made as a secret santa gift is just so good I love the way you characterize Faust in this fic. It's so angsty but I love how you tie it all up in the end in such a nice manner. Faust actually gets to become his own character? That's pretty crazy.

3. @starfishes-and-watercolors's AUs with Yuki and Motti, in particular their most recent one where Yuki is kidnapped early in Fury: This AU is SO funny I love the interactions between Yuki and Motti and how much the villains get clowned on. It's so funny to just think about how much Motti can embarrass Johannes and Pluto when they do finally confront each other during the actual events of Fury. There are also some really cool concepts relating to how the star fragments work in this AU and the history behind the legendary bladers. I would definitely recommend reading the fic for this AU, it is hilarious. Val and I have discussed many AUs with eachother and they're all so funny but this is the one that comes up to my mind first at the moment.

4. SilverSwirl's "Never Too Late" Fanfic where Nemesis succeeds in defeating the Legendary Bladers and the gang is on the run: This fanfiction I found around last year while searching for Pluto content and I actually really enjoy the concept behind this one fic and its AU. To no one's surprise, I became very attached to the Pluto and Johannes backstory they gave and I think it's so interesting to see how their strained friendship is developed throughout the story. I'm so sad the fic stopped updating in 2017 because despite how strained Pluto and Johannes' friendship is, it's clear they still had concerns for one another and I'll never know if they ended up being separated due to Pluto's own choice to sacrifice himself, or if he finally decided to put his friendship first in the priority list. I will admit, I have not read the whole thing because I may or may not have skimmed just to read the Pluto stuff, but those bits where Pluto and Johannes are in it are so good (Chapter 23 and 27 have me dead, but in a good way).

It's a pretty old fic, and unfinished at that but god I always think about the Pluto/Johannes lore here.

5. My Solar Swap AU: I was originally not going to put my own AUs here, but considering how many ideas I bounced off of with Val and qloof, I just had to feature it here as well. The Solar Swap AU is by far my most developed alternate universe, actually going out of my way to create new designs and thinking about how different the world is just by switching up the roles of the Solar System/Nemesis Bladers. I have so much fun changing things up, while also trying to fix Fury in my own weird little way by making adjustments to the sections that I didn't like, or adding more story points to make the AU flow better. It's funny to me how much more I like Solar Swap Dynamis and Rago then I do in the original (although to be fair, they're not really much in the original to begin with). This AU is my definitely my favourite to develop out of all the MFB AUs I have (I don't count From Different Eyes since that follows very closely to the main headcanon universe that I have)

There are plenty more wonderful AUs that are probably out there, but these were the ones that just popped out from the top of my head :) Its amazing to see all the wonderful different alternate universes people come up with. Cool stuff!
