blinking eyes met his , still trying to process the sight of the lifeless body that she was sure she’d fatally injured. had he not stepped in , solana was sure that the defensive gunshot she’d fired would have killed them. ❝ no , i don’t want to be tied to this. i can’t afford be tied to this . . . okay , um , okay. let’s go ❞ interlaced her fingers with his , needing the support as she let him lead the way.
Tumblr media
shoving the gun in his bad, eyes fell upon femme who seems shock. hands move on top of hers, trying to get her to focus on him instead of the situation. "we have to -- you don't want to be tied to this do you?" brows rose, licking his lips. "there's no cameras, all we need to do is escape before the police gets here.. we have to go now, c'mon lana.."

'Classic radblr authors' and not just 'radfem authors' because not all of them are/were radfems, but they are feminist authors popular here :) If you've read feminist literature before reading any of the authors mentioned, pick the first radfem reading. If not, pick the first 'general' / second wave feminist reading!

What are some of your recommended books for someone wanting to get to know radical feminism?
hi anon! idk how much you know already about radical feminism but i think @radicallyaligned's pinned post summarises the main points really concisely. in terms of books, there's so many that it's difficult to know where to start tbh so I've picked a few that I think will give you a pretty good overview:
Our Blood by Andrea Dworkin (or any of her other works tbh, this one is just the easiest to read imo)
Beauty and Misogyny by Sheila Jeffreys
Invisible Women by Caroline Criado-Perez
S.C.UM. Manifesto by Valerie Solanas (less than 100 pages long)
let me know if any of the links don't work!

❝ and where are you gonna go ? seriously , i doubt you could go twenty four hours without chasing after me , you'd be so fucking bored , ❞ the bored tone solana was sporting was intentional and forced. there was a deep rooted fear the raven haired woman had about a multitude of things -- her demeanour , her career , her past , finally being the thing that causes him to walk away. so she presented herself a certain way to save face. ❝ what's with you bitching at me all of a sudden ? it's getting tedious , isn't it drew ? feeling a little overwhelmed ? want to call it quits ? ❞ / @reverbz
for liking this , you get a starter ♡

something that popped in my mind and i had to write. no editing, no thoughts, just words
The chainsaw thuds heavily on the table, but Solana is careful not to knock over the drinks.
“They got the orders right?” Solana asks, peering into the paper bag closest to her as she slips into the booth. Will plucks it away quickly, swapping it with another bag.
“For once,” They answer, digging out the food. Dev and Annie had already began to dig into their own meals. “Who has the hot sauce?” Will asks, looking back to them.
Solana bites into the chalupa, the flavor barely hitting her tongue before her phone chimes. Her eyes glance down to the phone to see Brit’s picture, the one with her really pissed and flipping off the camera, flashing over the screen. Solana rubs her hand over her pants and hits the answer button and places the call on speaker
“Hey, mami” Solana greets, around a bite. “What’s up?”
“Where are you?” Brit asks steadily. Solana slows her chewing. That’s never a good tone for Brit to have.
“Uh, Taco Bell.” Solana responds, pulling the phone closer. “The kids were hungry, and I had coupons that were gonna expire and-“
“Oh, isn’t that nice?” Brit cuts in, “are you enjoying your Taco Bell?”
“I was,”
“Cause I’m going to send you to taco HELL,” Brit snarls loudly. Her voice echoing through the restaurant. Dev, Will and Annie all share a look and grin.
Solana takes her off speaker and puts the phone to her ear, clearing her throat. “I’m sensing that I’ve screwed up something somehow,” She remarks calmly, scratching her neck.
“Why aren’t you here?” Brit demands. Solana can hear something faint in the background. Distant but piercing.
“I don’t…” Solana starts, but her lips pull into an O shape when realization hits her. “That was today?! No! We said tomorrow!”
There’s a shuffle over the phone. Brit swears colorfully before Hanna’s calm voice speaks.
“We changed it to today, Solana.” Hanna answers.
“Since when?” Solana says, she looks at her chalupa and dares a small and careful bite.
Hanna sighs deeply. “I sent you a message,”
Solana quickly pulls her phone away and checks through her texts. “You didn’t send me anything on my phone”
There’s a loud bang, and there’s no mistaking a gunshot. Solana cringes. “You’d be correct because I sent you the message on the burner.” Hanna states. It’s not hard to miss her patience edging to its end.
Solana looks to the Trio as they watched her, still grinning.
‘You’re soooo busted’ Annie mouths, before sipping on her soda.
Solana waves her off and turns away. “But you said-“ she cuts herself off, “you know what? My bad. I’m coming,”
“Thank you,” Hanna says
“Hurry your ass up!” Brit snaps at the same time.
Solana sighs, yanking her chain saw up, strapping it to her back. Looking back to the three, she gives them a look. “I’ll be back in an hour…tops. Try not to kill anyone?”
“No such promises,” Dev supplies
“I figured,” Solana shakes her head, storming out

I should either be doing homework or sleeping but instead here are some young injustice headcanons
Annabel, Dev, and Will are frequently inseparable and it gives Hanna a headache because pretty much all they do is wreak havoc.
They also have like an army of stray animal friends. They steal food from big name pet shops and the feed every stray animal they can find.
Solana frequently encourages Annie, Dev, and Will’s shenanigans because she thinks they’re always hilarious. She’s also taught them all how to ride motorcycles.
Dev likes to ask Will “what will happen if you set this on fire” and Will will set it on fire and they discover that most of the time the result is said thing will be on fire.
Dev and Will wrestle a lot and have accidentally (or so they say) given each other black eyes on a few different occasions.
Britney is permanently annoyed by Annie, Dev, and Will. To be fair, they are pretty annoying.
Finn teaches Will to drive and Will has so much fun speeding and breaking traffic laws and Finn is terrible and probably encourages them.
Will is hopeless with technology. Finn buys them an iphone or something because Will has an old-ass flip phone that doesn’t work half the time.
Will has almost set the theater on fire on several different occasions. Rose, Dev, or Annabel are always involved.
Dev, Annie, and Will want really desperately to know about Ethan’s private life because he keeps it a mystery and they’ve tried multiple times to follow him but he always manages to shake them.
They have game nights occasionally. It always ends badly because at least half of them cheat.
Penny has a knack for accidentally startling her teammates. I feel like she’s really good at pickpocketing too and everybody always tries to prove they’re a better pickpocket than she is

❝ you act like six fucking months is equivalent to six days , quentin. of course i ended up moving on , how was i supposed to know that you were going to come back ? ❞ the plan had been a few weeks maximum. for what ? solana still had no clue. but what she did know was that she wasn't the type to be played for a fool -- and that's what she'd felt like waiting for him to call or text or just come back. ❝ isn't that hard to text me back but you refused to even give me that so don't act like i'm in the wrong here. ❞

Hi! i was wondering if you could recommend any rad feminism text read that’s veeery accessible because i’m not used to reading nonfiction and what i’ve tried to read always confused me a bit! thank you in advance!
Absolutely!
If you're brand new to feminism, We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a pretty good place to start. Adapted from her TED Talk of the same title, this personal essay explores sexual politics through her lens as a Nigerian woman. It's less than twenty pages total. Here's a link to the PDF version.
I've personally really enjoyed The Essential Feminist Reader by Estelle B. Freedman. It's an anthology that presents the full scope of feminist history. I have it as a paperback because I like to notate as I read, but I found a PDF of it, too! It's about 250 pages and features source material from all around the globe, including short works of fiction and drama, political works, and the work of less well-known writers.
The SCUM Manifesto by Valerie Solanas is short and satirical (though how satirical it is, is really up to you to decide). In it, Solanas states that men have ruined the world, and the only way to save it is for women to overthrow society and eliminate the male sex. If you're not quite sure if it's your cup of tea, here's a teaser: SCUM stands for "Society for Cutting Up Men." Here's a link to the PDF version.
Invisible Women: Exposing Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado Perez illuminates how many "small" differences lead to major lifetime consequences for women in a world built for men. You can download a PDF here.
I don't think any radical feminist reading list is complete without Andrea Dworkin. I wouldn’t say her work is particularly challenging but it can be heavy/intense. That said, here's a link to her complete works. If I had to pick three to read, I'd suggest Pornography, Right-Wing Women, and Woman Hating.
I also think Liberalism and the Death of Feminism by Catharine A. MacKinnon is a worthwhile read, albeit not exactly a beginner text. Sorry, I just couldn't resist including it. You can download a PDF of it here if you're feeling adventurous.
I hope this helps you dip your toes in the radical feminist reading pool, and I encourage others to chime in with any other recommendations! I wouldn't say that these texts are all necessarily radical feminist texts, but I personally don't like to limit myself to one discipline of thinking. Even if you don't agree with everything these women have to say, I think it's important to engage with different viewpoints and decide for yourself what you agree with and don't agree with. I'm a radical feminist, but I still engage with liberal feminist texts, intersectional feminist texts, etc. Nevertheless, I hope you're able to find some suggestions here that interest you. I think Dworkin is definitely the radical feminist bible (forgive the analogy, radfem joke), so maybe even just looking up Dworkin quotes would be a good start if you're not ready to dive headfirst into one of her texts. They are heavy, I won't lie, but extremely worthwhile. Have you highlighters at the ready is all I'll say. Best of luck to you, sister, and welcome!

Hi love do u have any lists of feminist books to read? (Just seen your break down of Dworkin 👏🏼)
oh no, i'm honestly not very well read yet at all. i'm a fast but easily distracted reader :(
i've finished right-wing women by andrea dworkin, which i absolutely recommend, and i just finished delusions of gender by cordelia fine which was mind-blowing! great for breaking down the myth of brain sex. i also own a hard copy of life and death by andrea dworkin, which i've stopped and started a million times... it is genuinely good, just heavy. i've also read a chunk of intercourse by andrea dworkin bc i own it. it's piv critical
in middle school i bought a book called bitch by elizabeth wurtzel, which, predictably, i never got all the way through, but the subtitle sums it up: in praise of difficult women. it's well-written but dense af. not radical feminist, but i think she was on to somethin
i've read all of why does he do that? by lundy bancroft, abt abusive men. don't trust bancroft but the book is solid
next on my list is who cooked the last supper by rosalind miles! also the s.c.u.m. manifesto by valerie solanas, invisible women by caroline criado perez, and i want to start digging into bell hooks' library
so it's. kinda overwhelming lol. there's a lot i wanna read and i only have so much focus, it comes and goes. i also have some books abt women in the arts bc that's one of my little passions, so i do recommend branching out and finding books abt women that are more suited to your interests
hopefully this at least helps a little lol, i might come back and add more links bc i know i have pdf compilations floating around here if only tumblr would let me find them easily. and maybe some of you gyns reading this post have suggestions too! 📖 📚
