david loves to cook for angel. he loves the whole process of it, watching the meal come together through preparation, cooking and assembly, then to be served and enjoyed thoroughly by his mate, who's culinary skills leave... much to be desired.

it's not hard to impress someone who's gone months living off instant ramen and coffee, but david likes to be extra anyway (little fuckin leaf on the dish type shit).

milo ;

much like a peacock flaunts his feathers, milo likes to dress up for every single occasion. i imagine sweetheart as going from some loser (and not in the hot way) who wears corny t-shirts, jeans and ugly converses to every event to milo greer. it's a change they welcome with open arms and a red face. it also makes milo proud, to show off both himself and his mate's excellent sense of style, even if it leaves a certain pack beta simmering in the corner as he tries to make an old, ugly belt look good.

sam ;

knowing that darlin' came from someone who likely put very little effort into their relationship, sam chose to go the "acts of service" route. everytime something of darlin's would break, or fall apart, or need fixing, sam would be on it right away. he knows a whole lot more than he gives himself credit for. everytime darlin' hears "let me get that for you," it makes them melt, feeling far more appreciated by him than they had anyone in their entire life.

sam does it for himself too. he likes to do things for someone he knows will appreciate it, someone who won't take his kindness and mistake it for something else. he lives to do things for the people he loves, and survives to spite the people he doesn't (alexiSCOUGHCOUCGH).

(strange character selection, i know, but he's growing on me. loving hush is an infectious disease and my friends are the carriers)

not quite as sentimental, and i don't really picture him doing this with the intent to impress, but hush likes to spout random, strangely specific facts/observations at doc. for someone who doesn't appear to understand the intricacies and irrationalities of the human world, he has a far more brilliant, clearer lense on it than anyone doc has ever met. it astounds them.

they'll be stood in silence, people watching, when hush cranes his neck to face doc in an uncanny manner and blurts out something like "the man beside the lampshade has been stood there for... five minutes, thirty seven seconds and counting. he's been staring at his phone. from what i've heard, he's currently.."

doc just nods along.

"oh. uh. wow. that's.. how did you?- yup, nevermind actually. very cool."

@silenthillmutual I think about this constantly... So much so that I'm gonna make this its own tagged post since I have so much to say about it!

Although Patches calls him a "complete idiot" I don't believe the betrayal had to do with Solaire falling for any false promises of treasure, since he doesn't come across as someone who would even care about something so trivial. The idiot remark probably comes instead from him finding Solaire's whole quest to find his very own sun a fruitless venture due to not understanding what exactly he means by it.

What he could've done to break the trust of someone as kind and considerate as Solaire must've been more personal. Maybe he said one too many disparaging things about how useless the man's quest was before Solaire finally got angry with him, or maybe Solaire's intense faith and devotion to his sun somehow triggered Patches's religious trauma and he attacked him out of mistaken idea that he was a cleric.

Whatever it was it could certainly be chalked up to Patches pushing himself away from Solaire and believing it was the sensible thing for him to do. A noble thief like himself has better things to do than stick around some sunbathing lunatic, eh?

But the thing that keeps me up at night is that Patches has no friends. He's a scoundrel disliked by all who meet him and who keeps himself as far away from everyone else as he can when he returns to Firelink Shrine, and yet he is the ONLY ONE in the whole goddamn game who encourages you to keep close to Solaire!

He has an inkling that his quest may very end badly, so he tells the only other person he trusts (the Chosen Undead) some vague gossip about him because his pride is too great to make him admit outright that he still cares for that damn warrior of sunlight! Because even though he's dedicated himself to living only for himself he knows that YOU might be able to do something about it and help keep Solaire alive for even just a little bit longer!

Patches is very keen at recognizing evil within people, particularly when it comes to their greed, but I think too many fans overlook that such an ability may also allow him to see the clear signs of good within others as well ☀️

My first impression: The accent really took me out - once I got after the shock I found him interesting! Getting a new Solaire member was crazy.

My impression now: He's sooo hopeless romantic buried under all the armor I feel, I really love him.

Favorite thing about that character: His suaveness that clearly is a mask for other stuff.

Least favorite thing: He doesn't have enough solo audio, also the accent is still kinda silly.

Favorite line/scene: The ending of his most recent audio!

Favorite interaction that character has with another: Darlin' during the Summit, hard to hear but he was correct.

A character that I wish that character would interact with more: Any of the voiced pack members

3. Obscure headcanon

Alfred - Can't really whistle or snap properly.

Solaire - I've said it before but i'll say it again, if Solaire was alive right now she would be using all sorts of neopronouns. They'd be an "any pronouns and then some" user. He is not cis and the idea that he is is unfathomable to me.

5. Best personality trait

Alfred & Solaire both being very dedicated. That single-mindedness can pose problems for sure but I think for the both of them that they are, at their best, very loyal. Which I think is where the dogboy headcanons come from though they are very, very different species in my opinion.

6. Worst personality trait

Alfred - Well I think there are the atrocities. But I suppose those are more physical and action-oriented than personality-based, so I will say small-mindedness.

Solaire - I don't know how much of a reach this will sound like so maybe I'll sound totally insane when I say this but the over-extension of the self for fear of looking inward. The "I would give you the shirt off my back to help you but I will not take care of myself" kind of thing. This so often gets spun into a good thing because of how we tend to conceptualize ideas like usefulness and how good we deem a person to be, but in actuality it's very hard to get to know people like this in a genuine sense because they will deflect everything to avoid talking about themselves. Sure, Solaire tells you what her goal is, and is very keen on achieving it, but outside of that, what do you really know about them? I think this contributes to Solaire's downfall because yeah, of course, Solaire has been helping you. But how much have you been helping Solaire? How much has Solaire even allowed that?

37. What they really think about themselves

I answered this for Alfred already but I think my answer is actually the same for Solaire, but with less (intentionally) outward aggression and aloofness. I think the description on the ardeo explains Alfred's committment to the Executioners ("Acts of goodness are not always wise, and acts of evil are not always foolish, but regardless, we shall always strive to be good.") and how he identifies himself, but Solaire is also attached to an identity that doesn't really exist. And I think Solaire is simlarly scared of looking inward - but is much more up front about their fears of being viewed as an idiot or insane. I think more than that, both feel empty internally, and are attempting to fill that void until there's nothing left for either of them to do but die. So I guess it's sort of a cop-out non-answer of neither of them really thinking about themselves because they're both scared to. The fear that you will look inward and won't find anything. Y'know. The Metnal Illinois.
