Ok I need to say a thing about soju. It's been bothering me since the episode and especially now people are using it as a gotcha against Tae and JK.
In Are You Sure:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At Festa 2018:
youtube
🐥: I've never seen this trick!
Either Tae was joking or it's more weirdly constructed dialogue but either way, it's clearly not Tae's first time witnessing a soju bottle opening and Jimin didn't know it back then so it might even be that JK learnt it from Tae.

Happy Wedding, my love// happy ending saga
Part 1 - Part 3
CW: none! Just a whole lotta fluff and the two being unserious in their wedding

Tumblr media Tumblr media
December 21st, 2024
It wasn’t every day two idols got married, especially ones that were considered to be the nation’s power couple. But today was that day. The day when many people tuned into the news and livestreams to see the two get married.
Kai paced a hole through the floor of the bridal suit, her brother looking at her confused. He never knew the type of stress brides got on their wedding day. Her bridesmaids had gone to get pictures with the groomsmen, so it was just her, Bo, and Yuqi, Yuqi being her maid of honor.
The wedding was taking place in a large greenhouse, keeping the people warm from the chill that was winter in South Korea. The large building held several of their closest friends and biggest celebrities. Yuqi and the rest of (G)-Idle were her bridesmaids, while Lisa and Wonyoung were the last two. The boys were Changbin’s groomsmen while Chan was the best man. Ateez, the rest of Blackpink, and almost half of the industry was on the guest list. The rest of the guest list was family on Changbin’s side, making the wedding have roughly seven hundred people attending. Even JYP and his family were attending, that was how big the wedding was being promoted.
Along with the upscale wedding, came her dress. It was a slight mermaid style, the skirts flaring out after her mid-thigh. The dress from the thigh up weighed 5-10 lbs. itself. It was adorned in jewels and beads, making it hard for her to breath, the corset back not helping her case. Her hair was styled into an elegant updo, the front two strands of her hair freely flowing and curled to frame her face. Her makeup was simple, a nude look with peach lips to enhance her natural beauty. On top of that, her neck and ears were adorned with sapphires and diamonds, making her look like one of those dolls. The necklace, thankfully, wasn’t too gaudy, putting just the right amount of interesting texture to her look.
Yuqi got a buzz from her phone, and she cursed. “Kai, baby, it’s go-time.” Kai internally groaned. She wasn’t ready yet, she doesn’t think she’ll ever be ready. She took a deep breath, linked her arm with Bo’s, and made her way to enter. Yuqi had quickly gone to walk down with Chan on her arm, giving her a look of encouragement. It reminded her of that day in February, not too long after their engagement.
Tumblr media
“Who's the best man?” Hyunjin asked Changbin, days after the announcement over Instagram and Dispatch.
“I don’t know.” Changbin commented, braiding Kai’s hair, who was fast asleep with a glass of soju.
“It’s going to be me, obviously.” Han snorted, making heads snap towards him.
“Ain’t no way, it’ll be me.” Feliz said, and it became a huge argument between the seven members. Changbin watched them, amused, already having an idea who it’ll be.
Kai stirred, making the men freeze. “What’s going on?” She yawned, making Changbin glare at the men who woke her up.
“Just because of that, Chan will be my best man.” Changbin told the seven, picking the one that was least responsible for waking Kai up.
Chan fist bumped, which led to the members wrestling and dog piling over Chan.
Tumblr media
Kai snorted at the memory, her nerves melting away as the music filled her ears. It was the instrumental version of Butterflies, making her crack up slightly. She met Changbin’s eyes, and they couldn’t stop the giggles that left their mouths at the sight of each other.
After a quick couple seconds, she stood under the altar, hugging Bo after he went to sit down. The officiant, BoA, started the ceremony. The two had to hold in their laughs whenever they looked at each other, feeling shy whenever they made eye contact.
“Now, repeat after me.” BoA instructed Changbin, who nodded diligently. She started telling the vows, pausing every now and then to let Changbin repeat after her. After his set, she turned to Kai, doing the same thing she did to Changbin to her. The two held bated breaths, until it was said they could kiss.
The two went in for a kiss but instead of kissing, they bonked their heads together. This caused the two to burst out laughing. She cradled his head while the two laughed, trying to rub away the red mark while their wedding party couldn’t help but laugh as well.
After a few seconds of the wedding party being anything but serious, Kai eventually landed a kiss to his lips, getting cheers from the crowd. She pulled away and continued laughing, making her wheeze from how tight the dress was.
The two walked back down the aisle while their wedding party was following, bouncing and jumping up and down, like it wasn’t supposed to be serious, to hype the couple up. Security quickly crowded the guests into limos to transfer them over to the reception. Kai continued to rub the red mark on his forehead, before kissing it to make it feel better. Changbin chuckled, before kissing her deeply, making her squeak.
She sighed happily, wrapping her arms around his neck before the limo lurched, the two falling to the floor with a laugh. Changbin quickly helped her up, pulling her into his lap.
“My husband, ever the gentleman.” She snorted, Changbin kissing her cheek and making her giggle.
“Call me that again,” he said. She smirked, before doing so. After each time she called him her husband, he would reward her with a kiss in a different place on her face.
The two soon settled into a comfortable silence, ready to spend the rest of their lives together like this.

1024UB CHAPTER FORTY-TWO: THE MOST NERVE-WRACKING GUYS NIGHT OUT
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Thanks to Bora and all of her bullshit, the guys hadn’t had a GNO for while, which meant that the one they were at tonight at their favorite KBBQ place was the first one in what felt like decades. Truth be told, San did not want to go for this GNO because he really didn’t want to have to see Seonghwa. Yet, as his luck would have it, San was sitting right next to Seonghwa at dinner. In fact, out of all the guys in the group, he was sitting in between the two boys who still did not know about his relationship with Gyuri.
So, San made a promise to himself that he would not drink that night. He seriously had to watch what he said around those two until Gyuri figured out a way to tell Seonghwa about them. That, and right as they got to the restaurant, Seonghwa drowned himself in soju and beer to the point where he was drunk even before all the food came out. Determined to not let the guy die of alcohol poisoning, San focused on feeding Seonghwa, which meant there was no way he could drink with his hands full with the grown toddler; and because San was feeding Seonghwa, Wooyoung fed San, the three of them in the weirdest food chain San had ever been in.
When the meat came out, all the boys focused on stuffing their faces— it was almost as if they’d been starved for years based off the way the meat was disappearing off the grill. The staff at the restaurant were pretty much running back and forth from the kitchen just for them. Finally, after they had satisfied a majority of their hunger, the boys eased off and ate the meat calmly while maintaining conversations within themselves.
San unfortunately still had his hands full with Seonghwa, who was fully relying on San’s shoulder to keep him upright and awake. He guzzled water as his anxiety continued to torture him when Seonghwa buried his nose in the nook of his neck and threw his arms around him.
“Sannie…” Seonghwa whispered— well, the drunk boy thought he was whispering, but everyone in the group could definitely hear him. “I miss Gyuri.”
Silence fell over the group as they all froze, the only noise in their vicinity coming from the sizzling meat on the grill. Seven pairs of eyes landed on Seonghwa as he continued to drunkly babble, “I miss her so much…”
“But you see her every day,” San told him.
“Yes… But… I still miss her. I’m so mad that that bitch, uh, Bora got in my… Uh…”
“Head?” Someone finished the sentence for him.
“Yeah! That.”
Several of the friends rolled their eyes or smacked their forehead with their palm. San couldn’t do anything but continue to hold Seonghwa up.
“You know, she kept saying all this nasty shit about Gyu and San…”
The whole group froze once again, almost as if Seonghwa were Medusa and petrified them to stone.
“And Joong and Woo and…” Seonghwa continued, allowing the boys to ease up again.
In attempt to make Seonghwa feel better— and also shut the fuck up— San hugged Seonghwa and patted his back softly like Seonghwa was a crying baby. Seonghwa hugged back and nuzzled his nose into San further, making San feel like he were being assaulted by a bear. It took everything in him ot not yeet Seonghwa across the restaurant purely because of how uncomfortable he was.
Seonghwa was apparently not done talking. He continued his saga by stating what everyone already knew, “I’ve known Gyu since high school!”
“Yes, Hwa, we know,” someone else answered.
“I’ve loved her since high school!”
Every single boy at the table choked on either their food, drink, or spit. San stopped breathing in attempt to keep from coughing— he was one of the boys who choked on his spit. He stared at Seonghwa in complete and utter shock. Drunk Seonghwa was now officially a nightmare.
“She’s the only one who ever really understood me, you know? Like she’s just…” Seonghwa trailed off.
Everyone waited in anticipation for his next words.
“She just…”
Stools scratched along the floor as they all leaned in.
“She’s just everything. She’s everything to me.”
A deep wound opened in San’s heart. He felt completely and utterly horrible in that moment, and Seonghwa pretty much squeezing him to death was definitely not helping. His lips pulled into a tight frown as Seonghwa placed his chin on the boy’s shoulder and continued to talk in a register that was definitely not a whisper.
“She’s so perfect and so nice and kind and—”
“You said some really mean things to her when you were dating Bora, Hwa,” Mingi interrupted.
“Yeah, you said she has anger issues… That hurt her, bro,” Yeosang added.
San felt something wet fall on his shoulder. He craned his neck to see that Seonghwa was now crying on his shoulder. Great.
“I didn’t mean it!” Seonghwa sobbed. “It was all Bora. I swear. I love Gyu…”
“We know it was Bora’s fault, Hwa, but you still said those things,” Hongjoong sighed as he set his chopsticks down. “I don’t think Gyu will ever recover from that.”
“I feel so bad… I just want to like… Hug her… Tell her how sorry I am… That I will always be sorry…”
Seonghwa continued to squeeze San, making him feel like he owned the trademark for the word “uncomfortable”. He looked around the table and locked eyes with every person who knew about him and Gyuri, and they all looked as terrified as he felt. A couple more of Seonghwa’s tears fell on San’s shoulder as he and Yunho had a silent conversation with their eyes trying to figure out how the hell to get San out of Seonghwa’s grip.
Meanwhile, while keeping one arm around San, Seonghwa reached for a stray, brand new bottle of soju on the table. With his quick reflexes, Jongho snatched the bottle and passed it to Yunho. Yunho pretended to use the bottle to pour Seonghwa a shot, the glass actually filled with water. He pushed the shot to Seonghwa, who downed it in an instant and giggled, “Woo! That shot was smooth!”
San couldn’t help but roll his eyes. Seonghwa continue talking after finishing the shot, more of his body weight transferring onto San with every passing second.
“I can’t imagine my life without her… Not again… Everything was horrible without her…”
Seonghwa fell forward completely, his nose now buried in San’s chest the same way Gyuri’s face usually was. He was still crying. San felt like he was about to cry too. He could feel tears well up in his eyes, only for them to disappear when he felt Seonghwa’s weight lift off him. Hongjoong pulled Seonghwa off San and nodded his head to his seat, the two of them switching seats and taking-care-of-Seonghwa-duty.
San felt all of his energy completely deplete when he sat on the stool Hongjoong previously sat on. He felt a hand on his back and turned to see Yunho, concern plastered to his face. He held out the bottle of soju that Jongho had whisked away from Seonghwa, urging him to drink it. San happily obliged and chugged as much soju as he could without feeling the burn.
“For Valentine’s day, I waited outside for her after class… With flowers and chocolates, right? All the girls in the class were so jealous of her… I want to make all the girls jealous of her all the time,” Seonghwa slurred out.
He turned in Hongjoong’s arms and stuck his face in Wooyoung’s ear while attempting to whisper, “One girl even said, “I wonder who’s lucky enough to land him,” and I showed her who!”
Realization slowly sunk into San— he’s heard this story before. Was Seonghwa going to narrate the whole thing? Panicking, he looked to Yunho to figure out what to do, only to see all of the color from Yunho’s face fade. God fucking dammit, what the hell was this situation?
“Before I started dating Bora, Gyu told me about this exhibit she wanted to see… I got tickets for that while I was dating Bora, but I got the tickets for me and Gyu…”
San felt everyone’s eyes land on him. He couldn’t even keep his eyes in focus— his eyes were wide as he was completely transfixed by Seonghwa— this was not the story he expected him to say. This story was definitely much worse.
“Is he going to…” Yunho started, his voice quiet and right next to San.
“I think he is…”
“Should we stop him?” Jongho asked.
“I don’t think we can…” Yunho sounded defeated.
Yeosang, however, attempted. “Hwa, I think you need to eat more. You’re really far gone—”
“Shh, shh, shh. Lemme talk,” Seonghwa cut Yeosang off.
All San could do was chant “fuck” in his head over and over again.
“When we went to the, uh, exhibit thing… All I wanted to do was hug her from behind… But! I kept my distance. Then, we went to a cafe—”
“Ze Cafe?” Wooyoung interjected.
“No, a fancier one on the other side of town.”
There was a resounding snap as Hongjoong flicked Seonghwa on the forehead.
“Ow… Sorry, Joong. I just wanted it to be a date…”
With that, San felt his blood run cold. What Seonghwa did with Gyuri was in fact a date in his eyes. He could feel himself falling off the stool. He was either about to pass out or start crying. Thanks to their quick reflexes Yunho and Jongho immediately caught San before his butt could completely leave the stool. He ended up sitting between the two boys who physically supported him through this immense shock that rippled through the group. He saw that Mingi had fully turned around and was not facing the table anymore, and Yeosang and Wooyoung were clinging to each other and trembling like chihuahuas.
“She was so pretty that day... I mean, she’s pretty all the time, but that day…” Seonghwa drunkenly continued.
Everyone was frozen. They all held their breaths in complete and utter fear of what Seonghwa was going to say next— no one bothered trying to stop him at this point because they knew he would just plow ahead regardless.
“Then we went to the park… Walked through the trees… And I grabbed her arm.”
Next thing they knew, Seonghwa had caught a hold of Wooyoung’s arm. He was no longer relying on anyone for support as he was fully sitting on the stool all by himself. For a split second, San thought that maybe Seonghwa had sobered up in literally two seconds.
“I pulled her in…”
Seonghwa pulled Wooyoung closer to him. Wooyoung started flailing in the drunken boy’s grasp, his voice coming out in squeaks as he desperately tried to get away.
“And I kissed her.”
All hell broke loose. Hongjoong fell off his stool and hit the ground with a hard thud, his eyes wide in shock. Mingi, with his back still turned, was praying loudly to some immortal entity. Wooyoung, who was still in Seonghwa’s grasp, narrowly avoided his kiss with tears streaming down his face while Yeosang worked hard on prying Seonghwa’s fingers off of Wooyoung’s arm. San, meanwhile, felt himself error out and start a hard reset. His eyes were open, and he was conscious, but he was unable to move a single muscle. Yunho and Jongho were slapping San’s face, arms, and thighs lightly, attempting to reboot San to his last original settings. Through this chaos, Seonghwa continued his epic.
“But... The entire date… I kept thinking about the lies Bora told me… That Gyu would never like me back… That she was the only one there for me because Gyu wouldn’t be… Not if she’s seeing someone…”
The group immediately calmed down and paid full attention to Seonghwa as this was information that none of them had ever received. They all leaned towards Seonghwa, expecting him to continue.
Biting his lower lip with tears in his eyes, Seonghwa cried quietly, “She lied and told me that Gyu was sleeping with San.”
The best way to describe the table at that point was Seonghwa was a car with bright headlights, and the other seven boys were deer standing in the middle of the road. San seriously could not believe his ears. How the fuck did Bora find out about that?
“She said that she saw the two of them go into Gyu’s apartment… That they were kissing… That San’s hand was up her shirt…”
San was both as pale as a ghost as well as red in the face upon hearing this. He ran his trembling fingers through his hair, a shaky breath leaving his body. He felt Yunho put a hand on his back, giving San the tiniest bit of strength to stay alive in that moment.
“I didn’t want to believe her, but she kept telling me that if Gyu wasn’t interested, then I should be with someone who is… Someone like her…”
Everyone else in the group had yet to say anything; they were all stunned.
“But then she kept lying and lying and lying, so I thought… Gyu definitely isn’t sleeping with San… And it doesn’t seem like they are… Which means I still… Have… A… Chance…”
Then and only then did Seonghwa pass out, his head nearly hitting the table with a thud if it weren’t for Hongjoong catching his head in time. Still, no one else in the group had uttered a single word. Everyone was processing all the information Seonghwa threw at them. Usually, their GNOs were dramatic, but more in a fun way than anything, so this kind of drama really took a toll on everyone’s energy. Quietly, they paid the bill and left the restaurant.
On the way back to 1024UB, San and Jongho took turns carrying the passed out boy. Wooyoung was sniffling to Yeosang all the way home. Hongjoong, Mingi, and Yunho all walked like zombies. Still, not a single word had been uttered.
When they got back to the building, Hongjoong took Seonghwa up to their apartment. The remaining six boys went to San and Yunho’s place. They all looked dead serious, like they were about to go into a world war or something. Wooyoung held his head in his hands as he sat on the couch. Yeosang sat at the dining table with Yunho and Mingi. Jongho was busy passing out water to everyone while San paced the living room so much that he was about to wear a hole into the carpet.
“San, you need to tell Seonghwa as soon as possible,” Yeosang broke the silence.
“But, Gyu has to be the one to tell him,” Wooyoung mumbled, his head still in his hands.
“Yeah, Gyu wants to be the one to tell him…” San sighed.
“Wait, does Joong still not know?” Mingi asked.
“No…?” Yunho said uncertainly; he shot a look to San, who shook his head. Confidently, Yunho continued, “No. He doesn’t.”
“Okay, so here’s what needs to happen: San, you tell Joong tomorrow, and tell Gyu to tell Hwa tomorrow,” Jongho came up with a plan of action.
“It has to be tomorrow,” Yeosang emphasized.
San wasn’t going to argue with his friends because they were right. He was just scared shitless to do so. He wasn’t scared of Hongjoong, but he was scared of how Seonghwa might react to Gyuri telling him the whole unfiltered truth.
“You need to go tell Gyuri right now,” Jongho instructed. “Otherwise this will get delayed further and have a worse outcome.”
“Are they even home yet? They went out for a GNO, too,” San suddenly remembered.
“They kept their GNO in their apartment, but they could be asleep… Let me call Iseul,” Yunho said.
While Yunho made the call, San continued to pace. Yunho remained at the dining room table while the other boys accompanied San in the living room and gave him quiet words of encouragement or pats on the back.
“They’re home and still up,” Yunho informed after getting off the phone with Iseul.
“Okay, I’ll go now,” San announced.

The past few weeks have felt like a whirlwind. While I’ve been on my phone constantly the past few weeks it was almost exclusively to take photos and communicate immediately with folks to coordinate meetups. I barely looked at insta or my emails. It was seriously wonderful. Today I went through my photo album of the past few weeks and it doesn’t feel like there are enough photos. I legit feel like there should be more based on how full the trip felt.
I’m not even going to attempt to summarize the trip. I’ll just jot down a few thoughts.
1. Even though we were with the kids 24/7 and they were driving us crazy at times, now that I have to leave them I feel really sad and I miss them so much. I really do just love our family. Same goes for extended family too. After my mom/bro/sil/Shiloh departed, it felt like we weren’t whole without them. We could feel the lack of their presence. My mom is also seriously so clutch. She came to our house before we landed, made bap and miyukgook, and then picked us up from the airport. The miyukgook sVed our lives. We ate it for dinner and then as a post sleep meal when the girls were up in the wee hours of the morning. And then for breakfast the next day lol. She’s also coming tomorrow to take the girls to school because Jason has an important meeting. I would want to pay it forward for our kids but I’m generally assuming they won’t have kids (bc of climate change).
2. Adjusting to time zone changes is a bitch. The kids were waking up super early and sleeping very little when we went. And adults got virtually no sleep in the plane ride over. The girls slept fairly well but they were really squished lying next to each other on the seats. I actually got sick on the second day in and I think it was mostly from extreme sleep exhaustion (because we were already deprived from the sleep training saga and nerves not being able to sleep from starting a new job). It felt pretty miserable those first few days but thankfully the whole fam was there to watch the kids so I could get some rest. Now coming back we’re also getting terrible sleep and the kids have been awake anywhere from 11 to 4 am but I actually feel like I’m still sleeping better this time around. Today the girls slept in until noon and then I took them to school at around 2 just so they could play for a few hours. Hopefully they wake up earlier tomorrow and can actually go to school on a relatively normal schedule. Godspeed to my mom.
3. My grandma is so old. Like seriously. She was sooo happy to see us she was trying her best to keep up with us. She was actually walking so fast I was shocked. But she said she didnt care if she died she was going to walk as fast as she could so she could hang with us and not be seen as a burden. I could tell she really enjoyed herself and she bonded a lot with Dani. Jason’s grandma is much older than my grandma (I think by 10 years) but she’s still soooo healthy. She walks with a cane now but I love how social she is. We told her we’d come by to hang out the next day but she said she couldn’t because she was busy with her friends 😂. When we hung out w Jason’s family they took us to their local gogi jib (one we went to years ago too) and wansun Emo made me drink w her so I drank a bottle of soju and she drank a bottle of makgeoli lol. It was a lot of fun and the girls were thankfully well behaved.
4. Overall the kids really seemed to love Korea and want to go back. I fell in love with jejudo and seriously want to go back to the same hotel. But if we did go I wonder if it would be nearly as magical without the whole friend group there 🧐. I suspect not but there’s a different kind of fun just being with family too.

Tal vez no. Por si acaso… . "Has llegado tan lejos como puedes, Kim Jin-Hwon". Su sentimiento fue: 'Está bien. Lleguemos juntos lo más lejos que podamos.' Su corazón empezó a cambiar. Hana finalmente se dio cuenta de que había llegado el momento de poner fin a su amor no correspondido. De una manera ligeramente diferente a otros.  Atrás Novelas Menú Siguiente   Read the full article

Another part of the build-up to The Saga of Jo Yeong, Badass Prince Consort of the Kingdom of Corea! (First part is here) At some point, I will get to the actual Badass part, but I need to deal with some shit first XD
--
The worst part, by far, is having a security detail. Yeong tries to be gracious about it, but it’s really hard. More often than anyone is comfortable with, he finds himself in the Guards’ headquarters, looking over everyone’s shoulder and having opinions.
“You have to fucking stop,” Captain Park In-young tells him bluntly one afternoon when they drink soju, hidden away behind a camera blind spot neither of them pretend exist. “If someone pulls a gun, you’re not supposed to jump in front of him anymore.”
Yeong frowns. “Did you talk to me like this when I was Captain?”
“I didn’t have to talk to you this way then.” Then she adds as an afterthought, “Your Highness.”
“You know my husband can have you beheaded.”
In-young gapes and stares. “Did you seriously just…?”
Yeong grumbles. “I did, didn’t I?”
“We had higher hopes for you, you know. Min-kyu who thinks the least of you, apparently, still had five months before you’d throw His Majesty at us.”
“You’ve been betting on me?”
“Of course we have.”
There’s a really weird comfort in that. He serves her more alcohol and is about to fill his own cup as well, but she takes it and refills it for him.
“I’m serious, Your Highness,” she says as they both raise their cups and empty them. “It’s a problem that right now, step 1 is always ‘make sure the Prince consort doesn’t jump in front of the king at first sign of danger’. It’s going to end up putting both of you in danger.”
“I know.”
“Do you trust us, Your Highness?”
“No.”
In-young snorts. “Thanks.”
“I don’t know what it is,” he admits, sighing. “I trusted you with his life before, and I don’t care enough about my own to not trust you with it, but--”
“Yeong,” she says, holding up a finger. “Don’t say things like that. Your life is important.”
He moves her hand out of his face, glaring.
It doesn’t scare her in the least and she just pours them more alcohol.
“If you don’t want to take my word for it, ask your husband,” she says, lifting her glass again. “If there’s something that will actually get us beheaded it’ll be failing to protect you.”
“I’ll talk to him.”
“No, you’re going to stop being an idiot and let us do our job in peace.”
Yeong lifts his own glass, immensely grateful to be called an idiot to his face.
“I’ll promise to do better.”
In-young smiles and raises her glass as well. “That’s all I’m asking, Your Highness.”

Kim Taehyung- Amor Fabula~Sound Of Heart (ALSO 200th POST, WEEEE)
Alrighty my friends! Let’s skip the casual talk and hop right into it! Once again this is part of the Amor Fabula Saga over on the @btswriterscorner blog.
Tumblr media
Bro...life has been kicking my ass and it’s literally killing me on the inside like wow why does Earth hate me right now?...but Ima push that aside to get this deadline done.
Let’s begin. (I felt like changing it up from ‘leggo’)
...
It was foreign to him. He didn’t know what it meant let alone how to feel it. He walls were so high up, they could rival the gates of heaven. No one knew why. What had hurt him to the point where he was so angry at the very idea of love, or even companionship?
You were the opposite. Not only were you in love with the idea of love, but you seemed to attract it in more ways than one. Whether from your friends, or even random strangers. Even if you had none of those things, the word just seemed to radiate off you like heat radiated off the sun.
With all that being said, make no mistake. You weren’t interested in trying to fix a broken man. You already had yourself to worry about. Who were you to try to love a man who hated the word almost as much as he seemed to hate himself? Who was he to fool himself into thinking anyone could care for him?
These are the questions that need to be answered in today’s world.
...
You were walking down the halls of the office building, staring down at your phone. Deleting emails required a whole other level of focus. You could barely muster an audible hello to the front desk woman who seemed to be in her own little world as well.
“Y/N! “ your work friend, Yuna rushed to your side.
“Hm?” you mumbled, looking up from your phone. You lowered the device and put it in your pocket. “What’s up?” You were on your way to the lounge room when she ran up. She looked a hot mess. Hair sticking up in strange places, sweating bullets, and you were sure she had hauled herself over traffic by foot just to tell you the news.
“It’s The chairman’s son!” she managed to get out.
“What about the chairman’s son?” You curiously raised an eyebrow. “Is he in town to tell us that we’re all trash and should be fired?”
“No, not Duke. The youngest one!”
“You mean...Taehyung? His adoptive son, right??” you raised an eyebrow, just to make sure you and her were on the same page. “The chairman has so many children I don’t even keep count.”
“Yes! He’s the new CEO!” she looked both pissed off and absolutely mortified. “ I just saw him fire Rai and Sera in front of everybody!”
“I would think you’d be excited for that. You hate them. “ You huffed, not really seeing what she was on about. “Like last week you were talking about how you wished Sera would literally get hit by a train.”
“Okay but he sent the both of them out crying! Like he was so harsh it wasn’t even funny enough for me to crack a smile.” she explained.
That was when you realized she was absolutely serious. “Wait...The chairman really stepped down?” you paused. “The original chairman, I mean. I thought he was going into-”
“Change of plans.” she knew exactly what you were going to say. “The chairman insisted. Apparently he’s an old man and all his companies need someone to watch over them while he focuses on his retirement. Taehyung was the first person to offer.”
“Yuna, are you for real?” you grabbed her shoulders. “Be serious.”
“Yes!” she nodded quickly. “Taehyung just sent an email that he’s making cuts to every department!” she looked like she was about to freak out. “I can’t get fired! I’ve worked so hard Y/N!”  She looked like she was about to cry and you didn’t like that at all.
“Yuna, calm down! I’m sure the chairman wouldn’t allow that.” you shook your head. “Just because he’s boss now doesn’t mean he can get rid of us.”
“Y/N I love your optimism but you don’t know that for sure.” Yuna looked unsure. “I mean look at us, he’s probably gonna turn this place into a warehouse and just work us all to death! I’m not some kind of puppet! WE’RE GONNA TURN INTO SLUDGE. SLUDGE DOES NOT LOOK GOOD IN HIGH HEELS.”
“Listen, Yuna. I’m not gonna let that daddy’s boy fire you or me. He’ll have to say it to my face before I let him say it to yours.” you seethed.
“Is that so?”
You and Yuna both froze in place.
‘He behind me isn’t he?’ You whispered. She slowly nodded, which made you grumble profanities under your breath. You whipped around and saw the daddy’s boy himself.
“You must be Y/N...you were always my father’s favorite.” he crossed his arms. “I can’t see why.”
“Excuse me?” you put a hand on your hip. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Exactly how it sounds Miss. L/N. My father speaks highly of both you and your friend but from what I’ve seen, those accolades are undeserved and could very much be replaced by those who are more qualified, wouldn’t you say?”
Now you were aware of what was going on. He was trying to rile you up. It was working...but not well enough.
“Well..Mr.Kim.” you sighed, straightening out your shoulders. “ I’m sorry you feel that way.” you bowed respectfully. “I’ll make sure to do better to prove to you that I’m a worthy member of the new team you end up building...Yuna, are you coming?” you went to walk past him, Yuna on your tail.
“I think you made him mad!”
“Good, people like him are better off that way anyways. He might be the new boss but as long we we’re in the same age group, he has no power over me. Fuck his rules.”
“Y/N, you don’t know who Taehyung is do you? Like what he does?”
“Not really and I can’t say I care too much.” you scoffed. ‘Why?”
“Kim Taehyung is the current president of the Lottery division for the government.” Yuna stopped you two from walking. “You know that thing where your parents are in charge of giving you a new husband?”
“Yeah? But I haven’t spoken to my parents in 3 years...you know this.” you narrowed your eyebrows at her. Your parents were a touchy subject and you hated talking about them. “What does that have to do with the anything?”
“If your parents don’t decide...HE does.” she emphasized. “Seriously do you even watch the news?”
“No.” you shook your head. “It’s depressing and stupid.” you huffed. “I don’t exactly follow politic either.”
“Well you need to start. Police officers, corrupt politicians...they got nothing on that guy. He’s the most feared man in this government because the population depends on him. I heard he made his ex who cheated on him marry a convicted felon.”
“Then why would he take the role of CEO for a company that has nothing to do with the government?”
“...So he can see whose life he wants to ruin first...either that, or he’s planning something big and needs a time waster like working for a small company like this one.”
You didn’t flinch...at least not on the outside. Yeah you knew about the Sweep Lottery, you just hated thinking about it. You were hoping you could avoid it until the time came. Guess that plan wasn’t going to work.
...
It wasn’t even half a year with Taehyung as the new head of the company and everyone was already miserable! You all were being worked to the bone and you were positive a few team members had quit. 5 months of being yelled at and ridiculed for no reason other than the fact that he was your boss.
“Who does he think he is!” Yuna snapped. “And we can’t even talk to the chairman! He’s in Hawaii for the weekend.”
“He’s literally going to run what Mr. Kim had worked so hard to build into the ground. I can’t stand him!” another friend, Rina kicked back another shot of who knew what. It definitely wasn’t soju. “I swear if I was allowed to, I’d run him over.”
“You guys I don’t like this anymore than you do but-”
“YOU JERK!” You were cut off when a high-pitched scream ripped through the small restaurant. You, Rina, and Yuna all turned to the commotion. A girl was getting ready to throw a drink at someone, but not just anyone.
“Is that Taehyung?!” Rina managed to get the words out through her drunken hiccups. Rina was right, Taehyung was at the receiving end of all that commotion. He just stood there with a partially amused look on his face as the girl ran off screaming at the top of her lungs.
“How much you guys wanna bet he steals baby kittens in his freetime?” you mumbled. Taehyung must have heard your laughing because he turned towards your group. While you and Rina laughed amongst yourselves, Yuna held up her glass in a ‘cheers’ motion as she also held up the middle finger with her free hand.  He looked as if he genuinely couldn’t care less until his eyes landed on yours. All you could do was make a heartbreak motion with your hands as your turned back towards your friends. Serves him right.
As the night carried on, you and your friends carried on too. You decided you all drank enough for the night as just made time to enjoy yourselves. You couldn’t help but think of what happened earlier with Taehyung though. That girl just technically embarrassed him and he brushed it off. It made you wonder exactly what he was hiding. Or why he didn’t care.
...
You were now sitting at the bar by yourself. Yuna had taken Rina’s drunk ass home and you hung behind just to gather your thoughts to yourself. If Yuna was right. It just made him look like a huge jerk.
“Bet you thought that was funny, did you?”
You turned around and saw Taehyung standing behind you.
“Absolutely.” you replied honestly. “Side splittingly hilarious.” you said in monotone, lifting your drink to your lips. “Let me guess...a girlfriend of yours?”
“I don’t exactly see you here with a boyfriend.” he rolled his eyes. “Can I sit?”
“Relationships are useless in this country. Go ahead.” you sighed. “...sucks doesn’t it?” you giggled.
“Yeah.” he grumbled. “Mind if I drink?”
You figured since you weren’t at work, you could hold off on hating his guts for a while. You handed your full glass over to him. You stared at him as he took a sip of the liquor.
“Fuck...” he groaned, running a hand through his hair. “Be honest with me, am I an asshole?”
“Yes.” you answered quickly. “A huge festering, fissuring, painfully obvious asshole.”
“Right.” he sighed, sliding the glass over to you. “Figured as such. I can set people up but can’t seem to find myself a mate.”
“Well are you looking for a wife or a baby-maker.” you scoffed, causing him to laugh. “Whatever works for you, I guess.” you shrugged. “You are the one who calls the shots. Someone else could always do it for you.”
“Don’t remind me.” he glared. “Really, don’t.” he hiccuped. “I can’t even talk to a woman without her wanting to kill me. Half the time I’m not even the one doing the Sweep.”
“Like that girl from earlier?”
“No...and she wasn’t my girlfriend either. She threw her drink at me because I appointed her sister to marry boyfriend that apparently was hers.”
“Harsh.” you laughed. “Well, you only have yourself to blame. Taking love and happiness from others must be so tiring you joked.”
You suddenly noticed a lot of people in the bar were glaring potholes into Taehyung’s head. The looks they gave you varied on the pity spectrum. It was easy to see that Taehyung wasn’t the most popular man in town. It must have gave them pleasure seeing that girl throw a drink in his face.
“Well if the people of this country know the rules on government mandated marriage, then they should know what they’re getting themselves into before hand.” he rebutted. “....I overheard you and Yuna talking. You said something about your parents.”
“And the fact that I hate them?” you questioned. “Why?”
“Just wondering why you hate them so much.” he shrugged. “If you want to talk about it.
“...I caught my l mother cheating on my father with a younger man when I was young. My mother cheated on him every week and to an extent I even found her with one of my old high school classmates.” you huffed. “My father ran off with his accountant.” you explained. “Then again they hated each other when they got together.” you laughed. “So much for a loving household. That’s just what the lottery sweep does, right?” you jumped to your feet. “Well, I’m out of here.”
“You’re leaving?” he turned to look at you.
“I don’t exactly have a reason to stay here.” you tilted your head the side.
“The bar or...something else.” he trailed off.
“...Yes.” you replied, not really telling him what you were talking about.
...
To say that you were surprised to see Rina blazing mad. She walked up to you, a red envelope in her hand. However she instantly went from being pissed to absolutely defeated.
“He’s done it.” she quivered in her shoes. She thrust the envelope in your hands. “Read it.” she couldn’t even look at you.
“Um...Okay?” you trailed off, growing very concerned.  “Did he fire you?”
“Even worse...just read.”
“ Rina Hiroka, the government is pleased to announce that you have been chosen from the random computer generated list of all the women in the country. You will be engaged to marry...Sung Robin by this time next year?!- Rina you’re kidding me!”
“It’s right there! I got the envelope at my door this morning!” she began to freak out. “I’m only 22! They can’t do that can they?” she asked, taking the envelope back from you.
“....I don’t know, but I’m gonna find out..” you seethed, suddenly recalling what Yuna had told you about Taehyung. “I’m gonna kill that little daddy’s boy executive.” you turned around, walking away from Rina.
“Y/N?....Where are you going!”
“To take the trash out.”
...
You didn’t even knock on the door before entering the office.
“Y/N L/N what makes you think you think you can just burst into my office without knocking first?”
“What makes YOU think you can just marry off Rina like she’s a piece of meat to some random?!” you spat.
“You don’t understand my line of work.” he casually turned back towards his computer. “Go back to work L/N.”
“Well guess what, I DO know your line of work. I understand real fucking well.” you scoffed, shutting the door behind you. “You are reeaalllly fucking sad, you know that?”
You insult caused him to stand to his feet. “What did you just say to me?”
“You heard me! YOU. ARE. SAD. Rina’s 22, she isn’t even out of college yet!” you pointed accusingly. “Yet you’re gonna marry her off? What is wrong with you old ass government creeps. Do you people get off to basically selling young women?”
“Would you be saying this is Rina wasn’t your close friend?” Taehyung laughed harshly. “Hypocrisy is a bad look on you, Y/N.”
“You’re one to talk!” you snapped. “I bet you make sure your friends end up with the girls on their dreams.” you scoffed.
“Even if I had friends....rules are rules.”
“One, that doesn’t answer my question, and Two, has it ever occured to you that the reason you don’t have friends is because you...hm I don’t know...ruin lives?”
“Like you’re any better!” Taehyung raised his voice even louder. “I bet some of your beliefs are just as fucked up and wrong.”
“...Oh you wanna go there?” you said lowly. “We can go there if you want...I am so ready to go there.”
“Y/N, just listen to me.”
"Don't you understand what you've done!? You've ruined so many lives in the past and you can't even bear to look at yourself because you know just exactly who the hell you are! I'd rather be delusional than a monster who just takes happiness from others despite everyone...and I DO MEAN EVERYONE stating just how fucked up this stupid lotto is! You want to talk about me and my beliefs...at least my beliefs don't come with emotional baggage."
“You don’t think I know that!?” he suddenly snapped. “I know, trust me I do!”
“Then why. you let me know because I’m having trouble seeing your reasoning.” you crossed your arms.
“I do this because my lottery makes sure that infidelity, adultery, all of that bullshit is obliterated.” he responded. “Times had changed since your parent’s lotto rules. My rules establish that all forms of adultery are to be punished.”
“Oh really, adultery? Adultery! There are a lot more things to think about other than adultery.” you mocked. “Does it end there? What about abuse, what about rules that enable child protection, what about rules about the death of a spouse? Did you think about that?”
Taehyung was silent.
“Has it ever occured to you that maybe you are so cynical that the thought of other people’s free will just pisses you off?” you challenged. “You think you’re helping people but in reality you just can’t bear to realize happy marriages exist.”
“Like you’re any better than me? You think you’re so great and pure? Your squeaky clean image with your can-do-no wrong attitude, Y/N.”
“Please.” you scoffed. “If you’re trying to rile me up you’re failing miserably.” you huffed. “You know what, whatever. I’m gonna get your father, also known as the REAL chairman of this company, on the phone and see what he has to say..” you rolled your eyes, beginning to walk past him.
“Y/N wait!” The voice was pleading. It was surprising enough to make you stop. “Please....I’m sorry. But...I just don’t get it...what the hell even is love? Are people just happy? 60% of marriages ended in divorce so obviously whatever was there before...isn’t there five to ten years down the line.”
“That’s a lie.” you looked away.
“....Look at how your parent’s turned out.” he dared to say. You’re glare was harsh, if even possible at this point.
“Listen...You don’t believe in love. I get that. However, is your selfishness really a determining factor in other people’s lives? My family was broken from the beginning.”
“What I want know is why do YOU believe in love. What about this fucking word- this concept is so important to you..” he sighed, walking up to you.
“Why don’t you” you refused to look at him. “Being told who I’m supposed to end up with...tell me Taehyung...would you want that?”
“I’m not the one who has to worry about it.” he said lowly.
“That doesn’t answer my question.” you found the wits about you to turn around to face him. “Yes or no?”
“...I can’t answer that.”
“Of course you fucking can’t. My parents hated me...they couldn’t stand me, how I was brought into the world. With all of that hate, and resentment in my heart, Love is the only thing I can turn to to keep me sane. My friends love me, my aunts and uncles love me...and yet-” you paused to laugh harshly. “Yet I can’t seek authentic love from someone else? Especially someone who I’m bound to have an ENTIRE ASS CHILD WITH. Love to me...is the closest thing I have to freedom.” you crossed your arms. “And this isn’t freedom...it’s suffocating.”
“Well good for you...you done?” he feigned boredom, which pissed you off even more.
“You don’t get it do you?” you said lowly. “And you never will.” you shook your head. “...You know what? I quit!” you yanked off your nametag. You threw it at him, which bounced off his head.
“Y/N! Y/N get back here!” he called after you.
When you got into the main hallway, you grabbed your purse and made haste for the lobby. Yuna was comforting Rina at the front desk.
“Y/N? Y/N?! Where are you going?” Yuna called after you.
“I quit.” you mumbled in response, stopping in place. “I can’t work here with him. I just can’t.” you reasoned.
“So you’re just gonna quit? What are you gonna do?” Rina paused her sobbing session. “I hope you didn’t quit because of me.”
“It isn’t just you.” you shook your head. “It’s him, and his ways on thinking and he-”
“Is walking up right behind you.” Yuna finished.
“What what I was gonna say, but-AAH!”
You felt something grab your arm and begin to pull you along. Taehyung was walking back in the direction of his office where you came from.
“Hey! Let me go! This is kidnap! Who do you think you are!?”
Just like that, you were taken back to his office. You were practically thrown into a chair. “Y’know this defeats the purpose of my quitting if I’m just gonna come right back!” you protested. “What do you want...”
“Teach me how to love.” were his only words.
“Excuse me?” you raised an eyebrow. “Teach you.”
“Y-yes! Since I’m so heartless and cruel like you think I am so...you’re gonna show me what love is...and how to do it.” his words made you laugh.
“Y-you want me..to show you what love is.” you burst into a fit of laughter. You quickly stopped when you saw he was dead serious. “Oh...you’re being serious?”
“I never kid, Y/N.” he raised an eyebrow. “ Since you seem so intent that I’m just some broken man-”
“I never said you were broken.” you cut him off.
“You didn’t have to...so you’re going to teach me what love is and if people can really survive with it.”
“How exactly are we gonna get you to believe in love?”
“We’re gonna get married.”
His words almost made you choke on air. “W-wait! Me and you?! Get married?!” you widened your eyes at his literal proposal. “Hold on a second!”
“We’re gonna live together, sleep in the same bed, and do all the things you’re supposed to do in a marriage and if you can get me to fall in love...and fall hard...then ‘ll get rid of the Sweep Lottery.”
Now you were interested, not only because you were surprised he had the power to even do that, but because of the deal he was making.
“You have a year.” he didn’t give you time to verify or deny his proposition. “Do you accept?”
“So you really expect to understand the concept of love in 12 months?” you asked honestly.
“Fine...we’ll be married for two years.” the expression never left his face. “Do you accept?”
You had to marinate on the subject. You have to prove to Taehyung that love was real, in two years. You had to get married to this guy in order to prove a point. Were you that stubborn? Call it selfish, but you were really so desperate to go against this man to prove something. Were you ready to rub such a thing in his face.
“....Bring it on.”
(I meant to post this around 3PM...then life got in the way so you’re getting it at 4:15 as I finish typing)

When Tae asked Jimin if Jk learnt the bottle trick from him Jimin said no and that he didn’t do that with his soju when he drank, so we know that Jk didn’t learn it from Jimin but what is interesting is that Tae immediately assumed that Jk must have learnt it from Jimin and that probably means that he knows something about their drinking habits (maybe) and that is probably why jkkrs think it is a gotcha moment. Not necessarily because Jk learnt it from Jimin but because of what Tae’s question implied which is that Jimin and Jungkook probably drink together alot so Tae probably just assumed that any new drinking tricks or habits Jk picked up would be from Jimin?
I mean... If he actually assumed that then yes, makes sense.
It seems that JK drinks mainly whiskey and beer at home so yes, might be that soju isn't a thing he drinks much in front of Tae. I dunno. There are plenty of explanations, of course, but worth pointing out that there's inconsistencies throughout and this does feel like another weirdness in a lot of weirdness.
But I'm not putting all my theory eggs in a soju basket. I'm adding the soju to my bucket of weird that makes me suspicious.

I PREFERITI DEL MESE #14: febbraio
Scoperta iper a caso anche Friends di Francis and the lights ft. Bon Iver and Kanye West. Bon Iver il cantante dei The National altro mio gruppo preferito.
We could be friends
We could be friends
Just put your head on my shoulders
I will straighten out, for you
Don't wanna know if you made mistakes
I'm still waiting on your sunshine

Dok djela nema
Dok tamo u kutu sidim i cičim
U kriku riče
Plače, sačekaj dvadesetak minuta i sače
Dok vatru bljujem rukom o vraga kopita mu motikom rujem
Dok rijeka suza ne poteče u sjeni se krije i šapatom me brije i drze me u broju svojem žetvenom dojmu
Dok pijem i cuclam soju , tu bijelu ženstvenu boju.
Dok mi glavom ose bruje i ose u roju svaku poru i boru izbodu.
Mokar duvan i grlobolja tupa odmetnutih neisčerupanih gomolja
'Esam se diga da isčerupam par koštunica riba i voća zabranjenog sa kauča preko saga svoga boka
Kroz prozor se grana i na svakom koraku me brsti vrana

WHAT FORMER JUDGES SAY ABOUT AD STARS
Tumblr media
Here in Busan, we think AD STARS is unique to any other festival in the world, but don’t take our word for it… Here’s what our former judges have told us about their experience of attending AD STARS in South Korea.
Florentin Hock, Group Creative Director at Jung von Matt/SAGA GmbH in Hamburg
“I had a hell of a time in Busan on the AD STARS Jury in 2017 – even though I could only stay for two days. The submitted work was very good, the jury very professional and the people were very friendly. I especially liked the democratic approach of the festival, which not only opens world-class creative work for the public, but also makes AD STARS special and sympathetic.
“I have two favourite memories: One was our trip to the fish cake factory, where we tried to make fish cakes. The other was the ride with the cable car to the jury dinner. The view was amazing and I had some good talks with my fellow jury colleagues.
“I learned that the creative standard is surprisingly high in South Korea, and that the people are extraordinarily nice.”
Pavel Fuksa, art director, designer and illustrator, Prague
“At AD STARS, I learned that the Koreans are one of the most hospitable and welcoming hosts in the world. The whole festival was widely supported by the whole city, the selection of judges was extraordinary and I have enjoyed every minute in their presence, networking and discovering all the new angles of the worldwide creative scene. I would recommend it in a blink of an eye to anyone. Its uniqueness lies in the details, the 200% service and the thirst of the local creative scene for innovations, creative solutions and knowledge.
“The creative industries in North Asia are enviable in their attention to ideas and details, craftsmanship and typography. I was overwhelmed by simple street posters, magazines, everyday pieces of public service announcements, which help form and curate everyone’s design sense from early childhood.”
Takeshi Takada, Executive Producer, Alt.vfx, Australia
“I had an amazing time judging AD STARS. It’s really inspiring to see the standard of the work that is being produced in our industry.
“As well as that, you also get to meet some of the most creative people working in the field. The most exciting part was the level of talent of the people who were invited to judge and attend the event. We had award-winning, creative geniuses from all around the world, which goes to show that this is truly an international event.
“AD STARS is special because it has a particular focus on craft and creativity, which is something that I always look for in the work that we do at Alt.vfx. It is great to see those elements highlighted at such an internationally focused event.”
Tumblr media
Esther Wong, Creative Partner & Columnist, ManyManyMore, Hong Kong
“The judging at AD STARS is very well done, the organisers are very responsive and quick to respond to our questions – not every awards show is like this.”
Andrei Ivanoff, Business Lead at Publicis Starcom, Mexico
“Everything was excellent. The organization of AD STARS 2018 was impeccable, very light and with a great smile. The selected jury came from different parts of the world and with distinct but very relevant points of view on the industry, which helped the jury to decide on the winners. In my opinion, that was important because it allowed us to see the work through very different sets of eyes and consider every single aspect of it before actually making a decision.
“Working with Anna [Qvennerstedt, Forsman & Bodenfors Sweden] our Executive Judge was amazing: her experience and talent helped us to be effective and extremely fair with the decisions taken.
“Busan is a great place to be, the people are pleasant and the food is (really spicy) amazingly good. I hope to come back!”
Tumblr media
Jeremy Craigen, global chief creative officer
“I first went down to Busan shortly after I joined Innocean. I was due to only stay for one night but ended up staying three nights. It was a lot of fun.
South Korea is a wonderful country and the people are very hospitable. The food is incredible too. One piece of advice for first timers is to go easy on the soju. It’s a lot stronger than it tastes…”
Gabor Spielmann, Founder and Creative Director of Kabooom Advertising, Hungary
“I loved the hospitality at AD STARS 2016. It is not just an advertising festival, but it is a kind of club for me with many nice, and interesting people to both party with, and to have professional discussions. It is not as huge as Cannes, but I think of this as an advantage.
“I love the nightlife at Haeundae Beach. It is not just another beach. It has a special atmosphere, with a new surprise every night. People picnicking in the sand, video game competitions, crazy, but for me uneatable sea creatures. I took a trip to Gyeongju, the ancient capital, which was really nice.”
Polly Chu, Chief Creative Officer of J. Walter Thompson in Beijing
“This is an amazing experience in Korea. The standard of the works is high. The judges are international, world-class judges. The process is very professional. Of course, it’s full of fun as well. Thanks to AD STARS, I enjoyed it very much.
“I would choose drone flying as the highlight of my week in Busan. The world champion of flying drones is very young. He really could demo the best in class drone flying control. Amazing! Although the way I fly really sucked, it was still a fun session. Next time, my drone will fly back under my control. I hope.”
• We look forward to welcoming this year’s Final Judges to Busan next month!

The Food Eyecatches in Yuri!!! on Ice
So I just noticed that each dish’s name is the in the background of the eyecatches, and I feel silly for not having noticed them before! I’m a huge foodie, so I decided to look into each of the dishes featured during the commercial breaks of the show! Sources, including image sources, are provided at the end of each section.
Episode 1: Pirozhki
Tumblr media
Literally meaning “small pies” in Russian, pirozhki (пирожки) are little pies or buns that can either be baked or fried. They can be stuffed with savory fillings, such as meat, fish, vegetables, or potatoes, or sweet fillings, such as fruit, jam, or cottage cheese. They are often glazed with egg to produce its signature golden brown color. The traditional pirozhki we see in the show appear to be filled with beef and possibly cheese. (x) (x)
Episode 2: Katsudon
Tumblr media
Katsudon (カツ丼) is a bowl of rice that is topped with deep-fried pork cutlets, egg, vegetables, and other condiments. The name of the dish is a portmanteau of the Japanese words tonkatsu (豚カツ), meaning “pork cutlet,” and donburi (丼), meaning “rice bowl.” There many different variations of katsudon, and the one that we see in the show is the most well-known, called tamago-toji katsudon (卵とじ カツ丼), meaning “egg-bound cutlet bowl.” A modern tradition has developed for students and athletes to eat katsudon the night before a test or sporting event for good luck, or afterwards as a reward, since the Japanese word “katsu” (勝つ) also can mean “to win” or “to be victorious.” (So this is actually not a tradition specific to Yuuri, it’s a Japanese tradition in general.) (x) (x) (x)
Episode 3: Shochu
Tumblr media
Shochu (焼酎) (not to be confused with the Korean soju [소주] or the Chinese shaojiu [烧酒]) is an alcoholic beverage typically distilled from rice, but it can also be distilled from a variety of sources including barley, sweet potatoes, and buckwheat (soba). It is typically 25% alcohol by volume, which is stronger than wine and sake, but weaker than whiskey and vodka. It originated in the Japanese region of Kyushu, and the particular shochu pictured here is from the Saga prefecture, which is where Karatsu (the inspiration for Hasetsu) is located. It’s called “Makai heno Izanai” (魔界への誘), meaning “Invitation to Makai,” which is where the demons of Japanese folklore live.
This shochu is produced by using black koji and sweet potatoes; black koji is a kind of mold that’s used to break down the starches in the potatoes so that they can start to ferment into alcohol. The kind of koji used greatly affects the final taste of the shochu, and black koji specifically gives shochu a signature strong aroma and a sweet and mellow taste. You can actually buy this exact shochu at Amazon.jp, though there are several countries they will not ship to, including the US. (The page also includes pictures of the distillery and the production process, so it’s worth checking out regardless!) (x) (x) (x) (x)
Episode 4: Ika Sushi
Tumblr media
“Ika” (イカ) is Japanese for “squid.” “Ika sushi” is actually an incorrect name for the particular dish pictured here, as sushi means sliced fish over rice. This particular dish is actually called ika no ikizukuri (イカの活造り), meaning “live squid sashimi” (yes, LIVE). It’s also a specialty of Yobuko town in Karatsu, which again is the inspiration for the show’s Hasetsu. It’s made by taking a live squid out of a tank and preparing it immediately, which keeps the squid’s transparent look. Here’s a video of the dish, where you can still see the squid twitching!!!! (x)
Episode 5: Kibi Dango
Tumblr media
Kibi dango (吉備団子) are sweet confections made with glutinous rice flour called mochiko (もち米粉) (which is the same flour used to make mochi) and are sometimes filled with a sweet flavored syrup. Three to four dango are usually served on a skewer, and they’re often accompanied by green tea. There are many different kinds of dango, some of which are regional or are made during a specific time of year, like the hanami dango for cherry blossom season.
Kibi dango are from the former Japanese Kibi province, which is where the Okayama prefecture is today (Okayama is where the Chugoku, Shikoku, and Kyushu Championship took place in episode 5). Originally, kibi dango were made from millet, and those are inextricably tied to the Japanese legend of Momotaro (Peach Boy), in which he touts them as the "number one” dango in Japan. Kibi dango confectioners will often tie Momotaro into their marketing so their products have that same positive connotation. Both kibi dango and Momotaro are very important aspects of the cultural heritage of Okayama. The kibi dango pictured here appear to be made with Okinawan purple sweet potatoes and are dusted with kinako (黄粉), which is roasted soy bean flour. (x) (x) (x)
Episode 6: Hinabe
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hinabe (火鍋) is the Japanese word for Chinese hot pot. Hot pot originated in the Chinese province of Sichuan, which is known for its spicy food, as a meal for port workers and fishermen. The idea was to mask poor and unappetizing cuts of meat (including offal, the insides and entrails of an animal) with lots of spices to disguise its low quality, but eventually hot pot became a very popular dish that now uses more fragrant spices and higher quality meat.
Having a hot pot meal is a unique experience (hence why Victor is so excited to go eat it!): Sharing family-style, you poach various raw ingredients--including all different kinds of thinly-sliced meat, seafood, noodles, dumplings, and vegetables--in different kinds of simmering broth (top picture) and then eat them when they’re finished cooking (bottom picture). There are also usually lots of really flavorful dipping sauces to use!
In the eyecatch, the soup on the left is Chinese herbal soup, a non-spicy clear soup made with chicken stock, ginger, scallions, goji berries, and dates. Cooked ingredients pictured here include shiitake mushrooms, spinach, and daikon radishes. The soup on the right is mala soup (麻辣火鍋), whose broth is made with Sichuan peppercorn, chili pepper, spicy bean paste, garlic, and a mix of aromatic spices--it can be so spicy that it can have a numbing effect! Cooked ingredients pictured here include chicken, daikon radishes, and wontons. (x) (x) (x) (x) (x) (x)
Episode 7: Shanghai Gani
Tumblr media
“Gani” (蟹) is Japanese for “crab.” Specifically, this is Chinese mitten crab (上海毛蟹), also known as the Shanghai hairy crab, which is named for its furry claws that look like mittens (warning: pic is kind of creepy!). It’s a popular dish to eat in autumn (which is when the Cup of China takes place, hence its appearance here), and it’s a delicacy: It can cost $100 USD for two pounds of crabs! The crab pictured here has been steamed, which is the traditional Shanghainese way of preparing it, and it’s often served with dipping sauce made of rice vinegar, sugar, and ginger. (x) (x) (x)
Episode 8: Borscht
Tumblr media
Originating in Ukraine, borscht (Russian: борщ or Yiddish: באָרשט‎) is a sour soup found in many Eastern European cuisines, and all of them have their own variation of the dish. There are so many different kinds of borscht that it would be difficult to cover them all here, so I’d check out the Wikipedia article if you’re interested. The borscht pictured here most likely includes meat or bone stock, sautéed vegetables, fermented beetroot juice (which provides the signature red color), sour cream (probably an Eastern European kind called smetana), and parsley. (x) (x)
Episode 9: Tsuboyaki
Tumblr media
Wow, I cannot even believe how much trouble this one gave me. So from what I can find, it appears that this is a dish that you can really only find in Russian restaurants in Japan. (It’s kind of similar to pasta alfredo in that way, which is a dish that’s really popular in in Italian restaurants in America, but is not a traditional Italian dish, and the only places that you’ll find it in Italy are restaurants that cater to tourists.)
Anyway, so “tsuboyaki” (つぼ焼き) means “pot roast” in Japanese (though it usually refers to sazae no tsuboyaki, which is grilled turban shell), and it’s a Japanese take on Russian cream of mushroom soup that Japanese restaurants call “guribami” (グリバーミ) (”griby” [грибы] is just Russian for “mushrooms”), which you can see in the “after” eyecatch. It sometimes has potatoes or seafood in it, and it has a baked soft bread or puff pastry on top. You can then poke through the bread to eat it with the soup. The closest traditional Russian equivalent I could find is called gorshochke (горшочке), which are usually hearty meat-and-vegetable stews baked in traditional Russian clay pots with lids. The bread on top is optional, but the dough acts like a lid that keeps all of the heat inside the pot, and the bread then absorbs all of the yummy aromas! (x) (x) (x)
Episode 10: Paella
Tumblr media
Paella is a saffron rice dish that originated in the Spanish region of Valencia. It’s baked in a traditional pan called a paellera, pictured here. It’s traditionally cooked over an open fire while burning orange tree branches, pine branches, and pine cones to infuse it with an aromatic smoke. Traditional Valencian paella (paella valenciana) usually includes chicken, rabbit, green beans, and other vegetables, but the more well-known take is the seafood paella (paella de marisco) pictured here. This paella includes mussels, shrimp, prawns, and calamari. (x) (x) (x)
Episode 11: Gambas a la Plancha
Tumblr media
Gambas a la Plancha is Spanish for “griddled prawns.” The prawns are prepared using a griddle or large frying pan over an open fire, which retains all of the juices from the prawns that would otherwise drip through a regular grill. It’s a simple dish, usually made with olive oil, garlic, parsley, and lemon. They’re commonly served in Spain as tapas, which are small appetizers or snacks. (x) (x)
Episode 12: Pinchos
Tumblr media
Pinchos, Spanish for “thorns” or “spikes,” are traditional Northern Spain snacks often eaten in bars or taverns while drinking wine and socializing. They’re an essential part of local culture particularly in the Navarre and Basque regions of Spain (though you’ll usually find them on a skewer in Basque, where they’re called “pintxos”). They’re similar to tapas (and are sometimes just called tapas in some parts of Spain), but pinchos will always have a toothpick or skewer, often attached to a piece of baguette-style bread. Common ingredients in pinchos include cooked or smoked fish, seafood, pickles, cheese, peppers, eggs, and jelly spreads. (x) (x) (x)

Apa saja? 1. Natto Biasanya, hidangan makanan bakal menggoda penikmatnya lewat aroma. 7. Shirouo no odorigui Shirouo no odorigui juga dikenal dengan nama 'dancing ice fish'. Read the full article

The way I understood the soju thing was pretty simple. Tae doesn’t drink soju and he doesn’t drink beer either but Jimin and Jungkook do and Jimin and Jungkook are drinking buddies so I guess he asked if Jm taught Jk because he knows that they drink together so Jk must have picked up the haibt from Jm.
Jm and Jk did talk about not calling each other around July and this episode was filmed at the end of September, months after that and from the look of things they had already applied for the buddy program together and I also remember Jimin’s album exchange with Joon where he mentioned him and Jungkook drinking together and talking about music for hours so I guess Jm and Jk probably started communicating and keeping in touch with each other more after NY (else I wouldn’t understand how they even decided to enlist together). So it is possible that they had been meeting up drinking together and Tae knew about it and thats why he asked Jm if Jk learnt that from him. I don’t think Tae could have taught Jk because Tae doesn’t drink Soju so I doubt that is something he would teach Jk when he doesn’t even drink it himself and even before the solo era Jm and Jk had mentioned drinking together sometimes so maybe that is why Tae said that. I don’t see why it is a big deal though. So what if Jm taught Jk? They are friends and they probably drink together so why do jokers think it is a gotcha moment? Is there any law that states that Jm and Jk cannot have drinks together and what does their drinking together or possibly teaching each other stuff have to do with Taekook?
Did you watch the YouTube video? Tae knew the soju trick*, and Jimin didn't, back in 2018. He also drunk a shot in that video. It was fruit soju which he has said he enjoys. He may well have stopped drinking soju since. Or he meant he doesn't drink stronger proof chamisul soju, the kind you'd have with beer, which is what JM&JK drink here. Regardless, he knows the bottle trick.
This is what I'm saying. It's very blurry fact wise. I don't think Tae did genuinely think he'd learnt it from Jimin so regardless of whether Jimkook went drinking more between July and end of September**, I still don't think Tae thought Jimin taught him. I don't think much of what is said in this show is exactly true.
I'm approaching it like this. I went in with two fact-based suspicions:
That Jimin and JK barely saw each other
and
that JK and Tae are very much closer than we're allowed to know and they saw each other frequently.
When I watch AYS, does what they just said stand up to facts? The idea that Tae assumes Jimin taught him that? No there are facts to suggest otherwise.
Jimin and JK don't see each other? There are facts to suggest that's true.
Does what they just said make Tae look weird and isolated? Then it's probably the company narrative because there are facts to suggest otherwise.
You'd call it confirmation bias... But the facts, Mary. The facts.
Actions are speaking way louder than words in this show because the words are half blathering yammering weirdness.
And then there's just a whole raft of stuff people are just wilfully misinterpreting like "prescription glasses" which has many better explanations than "JK doesn't know Tae wears prescription!!!!"
You're right though. Even if it was true, how does the suggestion of Jimin teaching JK debunk Taekook? I have no idea.
In all, I have enjoyed watching AYS. It's cute and I'm happy to have seen our guys when we were all missing them. But I contain multitudes, and my other opinion is that AYS is going to go down in BTS lore as one of the most constructed, produced and therefore nonsensical pieces of content out there and my eyes are at peak risk of rolling out of my head. Though I enjoy it, I don't know why it was made and don't think it has proven it's worth enough to bother revisiting in the future. Not even if they were like "Tae is in it full time!"
*infodump: It is a throwback to when soju was corked so you'd need to give it a swirl and do these taps and flourishes to get the cork sediment out of the way. They're screw top now so no need to do it.
**Incidentally, because Jimin mentions Yoongi being there, I believe the album discussion happened at the Yoongi pre-enlistment meal JK had with Jimin and Yoongi on September 20th, before JK flew out to NYC for Global Citizen.
