The practice runs for his latest assignment have been exciting, to say the least. However, today, Sojin walked onto the set with a mixture of excitement and focus. The collaboration between Korea Cinema Today and LGC Agency was one of the highlights of the term, and he was especially thrilled about his assigned film, Parasite. Though it was a heavy, thought-provoking film, the challenge of recreating some of its iconic scenes and shooting the photoshoot inspired by it ignited his passion for both acting and creative direction.

Transferring ideas with his teammates, they huddled around a large table, scattered with mood boards, color schemes, and stills from Parasite. They’d already agreed on a few scenes they wanted to recreate for the video, some of them being Sojin's favorite, including the tense “ram-don” sequence and the infamous “flooded house” scene. Sojin leaned forward, running a hand through his hair as he flipped through the original script provided by the agency.

“I think for the ‘ram-don’ scene,” Sojin said, his eyes gleaming with excitement, “we can really play up the contrast between calm and chaos. I’d love to show the subtle tension in how the characters interact while doing something so mundane.”

He continued to contribute and rattle off ideas, “The way the family navigates their roles, trying to keep up appearances while everything unravels—that’s going to be a powerful dynamic on screen.”

After more brainstorming, they moved on to the photoshoot ideas. Since Parasite had such striking visual elements, Sojin suggested leaning into the film's infamous motif of stark class divide. “What if we do a split shot for the pictorial? One side, all of us in these high-end, polished outfits, almost too pristine… and on the other, we’re grittier, like we’re down in the bunker.”

Allowing his group mates to chime in, he also added, "We could play with lighting to make the divide even more obvious. Harsh shadows on the bunker side, but clean, bright on the upscale side. It'd highlight the disparity perfectly."

Their photographer, who had been listening in, gave a thumbs-up. “That’s the energy we’re looking for. Let’s set up the first shots with that in mind.”

Sojin felt the adrenaline kick in as they transitioned from planning to action. Dressed in sharp suits for the first half of the shoot, he embodied the sleek, composed façade of wealth. Then, they switched to their more rugged outfits, stepping onto a set designed to look like an underground bunker. The shift was immediate—Sojin felt himself slipping into a more desperate, survivalist mentality, crouching low with dirt smeared on his cheek as the camera clicked away.

Between takes, Sojin shared jokes with his groupmates, but his mind never strayed far from the work. He wanted every frame to reflect the stark emotion and tension of Parasite.

"Let's make this memorable," Sojin muttered to himself, pulling in a deep breath before stepping back into character for the next scene, knowing the camera was always rolling for the behind-the-scenes footage that fans would soon watch.
