Just wanted to say that I loved Where Love Grows Free and Wild! I love soft Vitya, and their chemistry is just beautiful. These little slice of life things are the best, and you do it so well. I'd love to see a continuation, maybe where Victor takes Yuuri to his family dacha or something. If you'd be into that, I mean. Honestly, I just love the way you write, so I'm down for anything

ahh thank you!! i mean technically i have a viktor takes yuuri to the family dacha piece with the btds honeymoon so that’s... definitely a thing already 😂 but we’ll see, since this is canonverse!

contributors get a free copy! 😂 that being said if you’re on a budget but you want to support the zine artists, most zines will sell a pdf copy after the physical ones are mailed out. those will definitely be cheaper because no need to print or ship it out! i know @softviktorzine and @yoimafiazine will have pdfs available so you can read my piece!

Yuuri Katsuki, first-year neurosurgery resident at Wayne State University, daydreams about his mother’s katsudon as he navigates the halls of Harper University Hospital on auto-pilot. Half of his mind is wandering when he goes to meet his new patient - technically, his mentor’s new patient: 28 years old, low-grade astrocytoma. The numbers dance in his head: 5-year survival rates, mean survival times, probability of a full resection with a brain tumor like this.

But when he walks into the room and meets Viktor Nikiforov, the numbers, the daydreams - even the air itself - all come to a stop.

He’s sitting up in the bed, with his back propped up by pillows when Yuuri first spots him. A sketchbook is open on his lap as he puts the finishing touches on a sketch of the view outside his window. He’s humming a tune as he works, something soft and dreamy that Yuuri can’t identify.

He stops when he sees Yuuri. “Hello. Are you going to be digging into my head?”

“Ah. Um.” ‘Yes’, he wants to say, ‘sort of’, but also ‘no’. He’ll be assisting, but how long he gets to hold a scalpel depends on his mentor. “Mr. Nikiforov?”

“That’s me.” His smile, heart-shaped and radiant, makes Yuuri’s breath catch in his throat. “Come in. I’m not contagious, or so they’ve told me anyway.”

Yuuri steps into the room, unwittingly fulfilling a condition hardcoded into the Universe. After all, you have to meet someone before you can kill them.

For those of you wondering where all that came from, @orchids-and-fictional-cities and I decided to pair up and collaborate once again for the @yoisoulmatezine​, and here's a sneak peek of our collaboration :D I drew a 3 page comic for it! (plz dont worry it's probably not as bad as you think)

Yuuri toys with the soft hair at the nape of Viktor’s neck, Viktor exhaling against his skin. If he could, he would dissolve himself in an instant, be drawn like the air into Viktor’s lungs and live nestled there in his blood, in his heart, always.

Between one sweet thought about Viktor and the next, Yuuri’s eyes fall closed; he sleeps, too.

Love letters in Spain are a Nikiforov family tradition.

Remorse

It was pointed out to me yesterday that I have a handful of completed drabbles and fics I haven’t posted yet. So here’s the first one! I wrote this as a submission to a zine I ended up too chicken-shit to submit, so instead, I’m just posting it here.

Title: Remorse Ship: Viktor/Yuri P Rating: G

Yuri sits up in bed and glances at his phone. 2AM. He groans, taking a drink of his water and rubs his eyes.

Viktor’s sleeping form is still next to him, his back turned. Yuri bites his lip. He hates this.

With a slow and nervous breath, Yuri rotates his body, slowly curling up against Viktor’s back. He presses a soft kiss to Viktor’s neck, threading his fingers through Viktor’s hair.

Yuri thinks about their fight, how awful they were to each other. The subject doesn’t matter; Yuri had lashed out and Viktor took the bait. He fights the tears burning in his eyes and runs his fingers down Viktor’s arm. He needs Viktor to wake up. Yuri can’t feel like a stranger in his own bed.

Viktor stirs, leaning into Yuri’s touch. He hums and turns his head. As his eyes open, they grow cold and his body tenses. Yuri winces and clutches Viktor tightly.

"Vitya."

Silence.

"I’m sorry."

Viktor purses his lips. It’s nearly pitch black but Yuri can see his expression relax. After what feels like an eternity Viktor turns in Yuri’s arms.

"Me too, Yura."

They kiss and it doesn’t matter how tired he is, Yuri is eternally grateful to have someone as forgiving and caring as Viktor Nikiforov for a husband.
