How to Choose Computer Desk Furniture
People having home offices need to carefully plan the office layout and the furniture that is required. Not only will choosing the right furniture save you time and effort but money as well. Furniture that is old and uncomfortable not only spoils the ambiance and aesthetic of the home office but can also result in loss of productivity as uncomfortable furniture can de-motivate employees and hinder their abilities to give their hundred percent. And since for a home office, you are the boss and you generate your own income, thus whenever you do not give your optimal productivity, you are negatively affecting your revenue stream. Thus it is imperative that you give importance and attention when choosing office furniture as it affects your performance level.
Research states that approximately 75% of home business owners do not have the appropriate furniture for their home office. New computer desks that are spacious can transform any room into an expedient home office. The foremost important thing that you will need for your office consists of a computer desk, a computer chair and other things that are necessary for storage and shelving. In all of this, the computer desk is the bedrock for lending the distinguished look you so desire for your home office.
The appropriate computer desk can do wonder not only for the ambiance of your home office rather for your business as well. Not only does it give you ample surface to work on and use the computer, the convenience results in higher levels of motivation and eventually better performance. One can use the computer desk to segregate the area for computer usage and other files and jobs. The choice of the computer desk depends on the nature and requirements of the work. If you depend on paper work then you would need a desk that has a more flat surface. On the other hand, there are corner desks that are more suitable for small home offices and they can be simply lodged in a den or in a living or dining room.
And if you have to keep books, heavy binders, or manuals, then you may choose a computer desk with shelving or closed overhead cabinet space so that you can conveniently attain printed material without really losing any precious flat surface. Another major concern is what rooms to choose when situating a home office. Now this again is relative to the nature and requirements of your business. If your work is such that it requires daily phone calls then it is better to situate that in the living or dining room as they tend to be quiet in the daytime. However, if your work requires space and room then it is best to shift it to a basement so that it can accommodate all your files and work-related document etc. If you work part-time in the evenings, then a computer desk can be kept in your bedroom so that you can work while relaxing in your room.
The right furniture for your home office can play a monumental role in shaping your home office. And good furniture does not have to be expensive and neither does it spoil the aesthetics of your home. It all depends on what furniture you choose and where you situate it. In fact, contrary to common perception, it can be of great help to all your family members and introduce them to technological marvels in a convenient and fun way.

thinking about being old man!loganâs little housewife...
headcanons - cws/tags: sexual content, mdni! old man!logan. dom/sub undertones. age gap. both characters are of the age of consent. unprotected p in v. 18+ only.
loganâs all worn out. there is no justification made on depicting how done he is with the world. he lives his days in an accustomed routine - dread crawling on his scarred skin - digging the soil for his own grave.Â
when he meets you, however, the horror, the panic, and the terror begin to fade away from his blurry orbsâreplaced by the sight of your sugary sweet smile. you kept him calm by easing down his drinking and self-destruction. and he just canât deny you, not when his dick gets so fucking hard when youâre around.
you canât help it either. the need to fix someone seems very familiar in your generationâso sentimental and at the same time, pragmatic. never accepting ânoâ for an answer, including when he tries to back you down by saying âyaâ donât want me, kid. iâm an old dog.â as if sunlight to a plant, it only motivates you. leaving him flushed red and burrows knitted after you whispered filthy remarks to his ear.Â
up to the point where he finally tears down his prejudices towards marriage and puts a shiny ring on your finger.Â
he turns a blind eye to anyone glancing at him weirdly at how much older he looks compared to you, his salt-and-pepper beard not helping either. when charles notices the changes in himâhow he seems to smile more and how hickeys sprawled up on his neckâhe just canât help but make snarky comments about it. loganâs too old for you (or so charles told him), and logan finds himself balking at that.Â
âif she doesnât want it, she wouldâve left already.â
heâs right. if you didnât want it, you wouldâve left him. oh, but you stayed. and not only did you stay, but you also took care of him. letting you eat out the palm of his hands.Â
greeting logan when he comes back from his blue-collar work, cooking and baking his favorite foods, ironing his work clothes and spraying the fabric with a lovely scent, kissing his bloodied knuckles, putting the prettiest outfit for him as a show, warming his cock when he sits lazily on the couch, nuzzling his thighs while you wait for him to get harden again, and letting him have you anywhere and anytime he wants.
logan keeps a polaroid of you while heâs away. a reminder to himself that he has a home now. heâd keep it in his wallet or his jacket pocket or hanging it on the carâs rear-view mirror. how empty was he to be so full of you now?
he never thought he would live a life like thisâlike how it is supposed to be. without you knowing, logan added one or two hours into his shift so that he could earn more extra pennies. the money heâll use to pamper you, to make you feel comfortable and content. let you buy anything you wantâall things on your shopping list are checked out by the end of the week.
and yâknow, heâs an old man whoâs not as strong as he used to be. so you pay for all this hard work by burying your face in loganâs neck as you ride him on the sofa. his head tilts slightly to catch your red-kissed lips with his - logan breathes something about how good youâre making him feel, âsuch a good little wife fâr your old man.â
he loves to tease youâtelling you that youâre making him feel younger than ever when heâs with you, âgettinâ tired already, baby? need me tâdo it for yaâ?â his murmurs get to you as his large palms cup your ass, getting a handful of the plush skin before guiding you up and down his girth.Â
logan knows how tired you can be, especially when you start whining desperately like this, so he gives one or two light smacks for encouragement, âthere yaâ go, kiddo. fuck. donât stop now. doinâ so well, baby. so good.âÂ
how you always ask for kisses from him ignites that taboo, perverted part of him he did not even know existed. anything that reminds him of how needy you are for him â feels so fucking wrong. but again, it gets his dick so fucking hard, too. he cannot help but to give in.Â
âbet no one has ever fucked this pretty pussy like i have, huh? need a real man to do it.â
heâs so fucking smug of himself since he had you. knowing those boys your age wishes that you choose them instead. but heâll know that would never happen because when he says something like âlook acha, drooling over an old man like me. gonna let me fill yaâ up, hm?â your walls manage to grip his girth tighter - squeezing him in so deliciously logan wonders what kind of a heroism act he did to deserve you.Â
makes you do a little âfashion showâ for him in the living room, parading yourself wearing all kinds of clothes that he bought. logan spreads his muscular thighs wide as he reads the newspaperâand the sight of him wearing his glasses that rest at the tip of his nose is holy to you, waiting to be worshipped.Â
youâd come out with a white lingerie that barely covers anything, âdo you like it, lo?â whilst you giggle and twirl in front of him, you almost miss how he adjusted his seating position to palm himself through his trousers. telling you, âcâmere here, baby. lemme take good look atâcha, gimme some sugar.âÂ
by âtaking a lookâ he means hiking up the sheer cloth to inspect your glistening mound, âhm. such a perfect pussy you got here, sweetâart.â probing his thick finger on the wet slick, humming at the dirty squelching sound. the look that he has makes your legs tremble - his untrimmed greying beard - his vague-looking face scars.Â
oh, coming home to you is the best part of his day. always. heâd see you heating the soup you made earlier and loses his fucking mind. turning off the stove in quick movements before hauling you up in his arms.Â
skin meets skin slapping fills the room and praises come out of his mouth so naturally, âf-fuck. gonâ stuff yaâ up, darlin'." youâre vulnerable and bare, you canât even think when heâs got you like this.Â
logan would intertwine his fingers with yours. placing them side by side to see the wedding rings. a legitimate reminder that youâre his and heâs yoursâforever.Â
âgood little wife. my good little wife.âÂ

đĄ Improved Sofa Bed and Chair Bed
These are functional pull-out sofa and chair based on Ikea Ektorp set. I created them long ago, and now, having more skill, decided to give them a refresh. Let me know if I made it worse! đ
Fixes:
No more waiting in Live Mode for newly bought beds to become fully functional
No more untimely unhiding in visited neighbors' apartments
No autonomous unfolding without sleep
Fixed pie menu texts for some languages
New features:
Quarter tile and off-grid placement enabled (if placed off tile, you have to adjust bed part by hand to align it with its seating part)
Both bed and sofa/chair are visible in Buy Mode upon placing the object so that you can recolor sheets and adjust placement right away (one of the parts will hide in Live Mode)
Sleep interaction shortcut -- unfold and go to bed in one click (sleeping autonomy and user directed sleep are the same as for other beds; if you have a global mod that changes conditions, it'll apply to these beds as well)
Option to temporary disable autonomous sleep
Other changes:
Can sell unfolded beds
Can place chair bed next to a wall
Bed unfolds in "made" state even if no one made it before folding
Sell old beds and buy new ones in game for best experience (I kept GUIDs and filenames the same)
Known Issue: it's possible to make cheaty money using undo button, I'm not saying how đ

COD MEN AND THEIR FIRST DATE WITH YOU
SIMON 'GHOST' RILEY â your first actual date would be at his, he has set his living room up in soft blankets and the coffee table cluttered in snacks and fizzy drinks. the lights turned off as he guides you to the couch, the tv turned on and your favorite movie paused. he mumbles something about wanting to make you feel better after you had a shitty week. a smile grows on your mouth as you settle into the sofa, watching your favorite film. his attention isnt much on the movie, his eyes linger on your glowing smile, and he thinks to himself; fuck, youre so pretty right now. after the film, he orders take away and you two chatter, putting on a random series for backround noise. soon it gets very late and you leave his house, fed and happy. but before you leave he receives a kiss on the cheek and a very happy thank you.
JOHNNY 'SOAP' MCTAVISH â he definitely does something wacky, but makes sure you likes it ofc. his ideal first date would be bowling maybe something along that line. at the start he goes easy on you, purposely missing some of the pins or throwing the ball weakly. but after a bit maybeee he gets a little competitive, striking all the pins st once - earning a gasp from you. ofc you aren't going to be as good as him but you still try and he can see that. when you ended up getting all of the pins, you spin around as he smirks at you and gives you a cheeky well done. in the end, he won, obviously. you almost passed him though! heading to Nando's after, you two yap the entire time until finishing your meals. he obviously goes with something hot to impress you, but when his lips go bright red and he curses, grabbing his coke and chugging the whole thing - you burst out laughing. you give his swollen lips a peck when he drives you home.
KYLE 'GAZ' GARRICK â takes you too a bar, buys a few drinks for the two of you. not enough to get you pissed but enough to get you a little tipsy. chattering and giggling between the two of yous while you order some chips and a burger. its quite casual, but the both of you like it like that. you told him he didn't need to take you somewhere proper and fancy, the local pub - well maybe a nicer pub - would do. after he walks you home, yapping together and soft smiles while you slightly shiver in the cold air. noticing the hairs on your arms rising and the hitch in your breath when a gust of freezing air blows past the two of you. he snorts and takes his jacket off, laying it over your shoulders when he grumbles a quick, 'ere'. when you get to your house, he brings his arms up and down yours, warming you up the slightest. after kissing the top of your head - you kiss the corner of his mouth. then your two mouths connect in a small peck, blushing instantly. he silently cheers himself on once your door shuts in his face - celebrating that he just kissed a gorgeous girl.
JOHN PRICE â always listens to everything you ever say, you mention you like this one restaurant? oh? its your favourite? hes taking you there. you smile up at him when he drives you to the familiar parking lot, telling him you love this place! his cheery smile when you two go inside and sits opposite you. ordering off the menu and giving you subtle looks when your eyes scan through the familiar menu. he orders for you when the waiter comes over and your cheeks slightly blush at that. he speaks up that your outfit is gorgeous and tells you that your hair looks so nice, your blush creeps across your cheeks. face heating up as you see his gaze travel to the smile that plasters onto your face. once you have tea, he makes sure to take you somewhere else after - make a night outa it. he takes you to walk down the beach after, the moonlight shining off of your face as you two talk about the most randomist of things. he spoke about his job, and you told him about yours. nearing the end you two walk back up to the car, and he drives you home. before you leave you peck him on the cheek to thank him for the date, telling him you hoped the second date could come soon. john watches you walk down your front garden - unlocking the door. making sure you get in okay. dreaming about the second date.
PHILLIP GRAVES â took you to the cinema, you had mentioned that you wanted to see this film... so here you are. he had bought you the nice chairs, the ones that had extra cup holders and the fabric was more comfortable. you reminded him it was okay and he didn't haf too but he didn't listen obviously. once you got there he instantly moved the armrest between yous up so you two could be closer! he buys you sweets and popcorn from a local shop, as many as you want he told you. with a carrier bag full of just utter shit, you two enjoy the movie he picked. well, you enjoy it - his eyes are mainly on you, the twitches in your face when something sad or happy happens and the way you struggle to sit in a position were all so cute to him. throughout the movie he tries to gain enough courage to wrap his arms around your waist or at least his shoulders. yeah he was normally a confident guy but something about you just made him all fluttery and nervous. once successfully wrapping his arm around your waist, you snuggle towards him and embrace his warmth. he smiles at that. spilt popcorn on the floor and the movie credits roll, you both stand up and snort at the mess on both your laps. wiping off the remains of the bag of popcorn, you two walk out and yap about the movie. safe to say he didn't have much input.

Lewis Hamilton x Leclerc!Reader
Summary: Lewis Hamilton has been called the GOAT by many ⌠after he becomes your brotherâs new teammate, you learn firsthand that being the greatest of all time extends to quite a few other aspects of his life as well
Warnings: 18+ content
Special thanks to @struggling-with-drivers for being an amazing friend and source of feedback who experienced todayâs crazy whirlwind of news with me
You stand on the balcony of Lewisâ penthouse overlooking the harbor in Monaco, watching the rain pour down. The raindrops beat a steady rhythm on the metal railing as you take a sip of your coffee.
âGood morning, beautiful,â Lewis says as he comes up behind you and wraps his arms around your waist. You relax into his embrace, still not used to how affectionate he is with you.
âMorning,â you reply with a small smile. âThe rain woke me up early.â
âHmm, I hope it didnât disturb you too much,â Lewis murmurs as he nuzzles your neck. You bite your lip to hold back a pleasured sigh.
âI donât mind it. Iâve always found the sound of rain soothing,â you say.
Lewis hums in response as you both stare out at the stormy sea. The rain is coming down hard now, large droplets splattering on the balcony floor.
âShall we go inside where itâs warm and dry?â Lewis asks after a few moments.
You nod and let him guide you back into the open living room. The floor-to-ceiling windows provide a stunning view of Monaco even in the gloomy weather.
Lewis busies himself making a fresh cup of tea while you settle on the large sectional sofa, tucking your feet under you. Your mind wanders as you watch the rain streak down the windows.
Youâve been staying with Lewis for almost two weeks now, only a few months after he signed with Ferrari as your brotherâs new teammate. You grew up in these very streets with Charles, the two of you extremely close in age and personality. He was your fiercest protector, shielding you from the realities of life in the spotlight.
But now youâre an adult, and Charles can no longer shelter you entirely. Especially not from someone as charming and persuasive as Lewis Hamilton.
You suppress a shiver as you remember the first time you met Lewis while joining your brother in Maranello. His warm brown eyes lingered on you as Charles introduced you. He took your hand and held it a beat too long, his thumb gently caressing your knuckles. A secretive smile played on his lips, sending your heart racing.
Over the next few days, Lewis went out of his way to talk to you, compliment you, make you laugh. Whenever Charles was preoccupied, Lewis found an excuse to steal you away, guiding you by the small of your back or brushing his fingers against yours.
You knew you should keep your distance. Lewis had a reputation, and Charles would be furious if he knew how Lewis was pursuing you. But you couldnât resist his allure.
So when Lewis invited you to stay with him instead of in your empty apartment while Charles was away, you said yes despite your better judgment. And now here you are, growing more attached to Lewis each day.
Youâre drawn out of your reminiscing when Lewis sits down next to you, switching out your rapidly cooling coffee for some earl grey with a splash of oat milk.
âWhat are you thinking about so seriously over here?â He asks, his tone playful yet gentle. He runs his fingers lightly up and down your arm, raising goosebumps on your skin.
You take a sip of coffee to buy yourself a moment. âOh, just remembering when we first met,â you say, aiming for nonchalance.
Lewis smiles, his eyes crinkling at the corners. âAh yes, I remember it well. I took one look at you and was completely enthralled.â
You blush and avoid his gaze. âLewis ...â
âWhat? Itâs true,â he says earnestly. When you shyly meet his eyes, they shine with warmth and affection. âFrom that very first moment, I wanted to get to know you, protect you ...â
He trails off as he tucks a lock of hair behind your ear, his fingers grazing your cheek. Your breath hitches at his touch.
âWhy me?â You whisper.
Lewis shakes his head in amusement. âHow could I not be drawn to you? Youâre beautiful, charming, intelligent ⌠anyone would be lucky to capture your attention.â
You stare down into your coffee, overwhelmed. No one has ever spoken to you this way before. Looked at you the way Lewis does, like youâre the most captivating person in the world.
âHey, look at me,â Lewis murmurs. He tips your chin up until your eyes lock with his. âI mean every word. From the moment we met, all Iâve wanted is to get closer to you.â
His thumb strokes your bottom lip as he speaks. Youâre helpless to pull away from his intense gaze.
âI know your brother wants to keep you locked away from reality,â Lewis continues seriously. âBut youâre an adult now. You can make your own choices.â
His eyes flick down to your lips. Your breath catches in anticipation. Slowly, giving you time to pull back, Lewis leans in.
When his lips meet yours, you let your eyes drift shut. The kiss is soft and undemanding at first, Lewis letting you set the pace. As you respond tentatively, he pulls you closer, one hand coming up to cradle the back of your head.
Itâs like nothing youâve ever felt before. Kissing Lewis surrounds you in warmth, makes you feel desired and cherished. You let him deepen the kiss, chasing the delicious sensation.
After long, blissful moments, Lewis gradually slows the kiss. He presses light, sweet pecks to your lips as he pulls back just enough to meet your dazed eyes.
âWow,â you breathe, eliciting a delighted chuckle from him.
âIâd say so too,â Lewis says, smile crinkling his eyes. He brushes his thumb over your lower lip again. âIâve wanted to do that for so long now.â
You bite your lip as you study his handsome face. Your heart is racing but youâve never felt more secure than wrapped in his strong arms. Still, a niggling thought wonât leave you alone.
âLewis ⌠what about Charles?â You ask uncertainly. âIf he finds out ...â
Lewis presses another soft kiss to your forehead. âI know, I know. Weâll have to be careful.â He strokes your hair soothingly. âThis can be our secret for now. I donât want you to worry, love. Iâll take care of you.â
His sincerity and confidence settles your nerves. You nod and cuddle into his broad chest. Lewisâ arms come around you as he drops a kiss to the top of your head.
âWhy donât I make us some breakfast?â He suggests. âWe can spend the day inside, just the two of us.â
You smile up at him. âThat sounds perfect.â
Lewis smiles and steals one more lingering kiss before heading to the kitchen. You settle back against the plush cushions, heart full.
The rain continues to fall steadily outside. But here, wrapped in Lewisâ affection, youâve never felt warmer.
***
You pace back and forth in Lewisâ driverâs room, nerves making your heart flutter. The deafening roar of the crowds just outside echoes in your ears.
Lewis did it. He won his first race with Ferrari today. You watched with pride and excitement as he stood on the top step of the podium, rosso corsa vivid against the grey skies as the champagne poured down.
Now you wait for him to finish with the press and the team, bouncing anxiously on the balls of your feet. You smooth your hands down your dress for the tenth time, wondering if youâre making a mistake.
Finally the door opens and Lewis steps inside. His race suit is unzipped to the waist, his sculpted chest straining against his fireproofs underneath. He breaks into a huge grin when he sees you.
âHello, gorgeous,â he says warmly, striding over to fold you into his arms. âWhat a lovely surprise.â
You hug him back tightly, relieved laughter bubbling out of you. âIâm so proud of you! Your first win for Ferrari.â
Lewis kisses your temple before holding you at armâs length, hands gentle on your waist. âToday has been incredible. But coming back to find you here waiting ⌠thatâs the best victory of all.â
You blush under the sincerity of his gaze. Reaching up, you run your fingers over the stubble on his jaw. âI wanted to celebrate with you privately first, before the team party.â
Lewisâ eyes darken with desire and he pulls you flush against him. âI can think of a few private celebrations Iâd like to have with you,â he murmurs suggestively.
Your breath catches but you place a hand on his chest. âWait. I have something to tell you first.â
Taking his hand, you lead him over to the small sofa along the wall. Lewis sits and pulls you down next to him, studying you intently.
You take a deep, steadying breath. Your heart is racing for an entirely different reason now.
âLewis, I ⌠Iâve never felt about anyone the way I feel about you.â You keep your eyes locked on his, willing him to understand the depth of your emotions.
âI know we have to hide this from Charles and the team. But Iâm tired of hiding how I feel.â You reach out to cradle his face in your hands. âIâm yours, Lew. In every way. If you want me.â
Lewisâ eyes flare with a mixture of desire and affection. He turns his head to press a fervent kiss to your palm.
âAre you certain, my love? We can wait until youâre ready,â he says seriously, though his body vibrates with pent up longing.
You smile tremulously and nod. âIâve never been more ready for anything in my life.â
Needing no further encouragement, Lewis crushes his mouth to yours. He kisses you deeply, holding nothing back. You moan into his mouth, your hands twisting in his race suit.
When you finally break apart both gasping for air, Lewis rests his forehead against yours. His eyes blaze with arousal but his touch is gentle as he caresses your face.
Lewis lays you down gently on the bed, his body blanketing yours. His hand slips into your hair as he kisses you deeply, with restrained passion.
When he finally breaks the kiss, youâre both breathing hard. Lewis trails hot, open-mouthed kisses down your neck, nipping lightly at your pulse point in a way that makes you gasp.
âTell me if you want me to stop,â he rasps, his voice rough with need.
You shake your head, arching into his touch. Your hands grasp at his shoulders, feeling the strength coiled under his shirt.
With deft fingers, Lewis begins unbuttoning your dress, exposing more and more of your flushed skin. He pauses when he reaches your bra, meeting your eyes questioningly. At your tiny nod, he reaches around and unhooks it, sliding the straps down your arms.
You flush as he reveals your bare breasts for the first time. Lewis groans low in his throat, eyes raking over you hungrily. Slowly he lowers his head, watching your face for any hesitation. When you bite your lip and nod for him to continue, he closes his lips around one taut nipple.
You cry out at the sensation, back arching off the bed. Lewis lavishes attention on your breasts, licking, sucking, kissing every inch of the sensitive skin. Youâre mindless with pleasure, grasping at him desperately.
After an eternity, Lewis begins trailing hot kisses back down your stomach, hands unzipping your dress the rest of the way. He slides it down your legs tantalizingly slowly, caressing each new bit of exposed skin.
When youâre left in just your panties, Lewis pauses to admire you. âSo beautiful,â he murmurs reverently before capturing your lips again.
His hands explore your body with new urgency, stroking along your sides, grasping your hips. You tentatively slide your hands under his shirt, feeling his muscles flex. Lewis groans and sits back just long enough to rip the Nomex over his head.
The feel of his bare chest against yours makes you dizzy with need. You start fumbling with his briefs until Lewis gently stills your hands.
âSlow down, love. We have all night,â he rasps, though his eyes are dark with desire. He kisses you languidly until you relax again, melting into his touch.
Only then does Lewis trail his hand down between your legs. You gasp against his mouth at the intimate caress, even through the fabric of your panties. He rubs you in slow circles until youâre mindless, pleading for more.
With utmost care Lewis slides your panties down your legs. His fingers return to stroke you directly and you cry out, arching into his hand.
âThatâs it darling, let go for me,â Lewis coaxes. He watches your face raptly as he brings you higher and higher until you shatter around his fingers with a sharp cry.
As you float back down, Lewis kisses you tenderly. âYou are so perfect, my love,â he whispers.
When youâve caught your breath, Lewis stands just long enough to shed the rest of his clothes. The sight of him bare above you makes you flush anew, but you boldly meet his heated gaze.
Lewis settles between your thighs once more, the evidence of his desire pressing insistently against your core. He braces himself above you on one arm while the other hand caresses your face.
âIâll go slow, I promise,â he says thickly. You nod, heart pounding in anticipation.
Lewis reaches down to position himself at your entrance. He watches your face intently as he begins to press inside you. Despite his care, you gasp at the burning stretch. Immediately Lewis stills, face taut.
âKeep going,â you plead breathlessly.
Jaw clenched, Lewis pushes forward inexorably slowly until heâs fully seated inside you. He drops his head to your shoulder with a guttural groan.
âOh god, you feel incredible,â he grits out.
You cling to him, overwhelmed at the new sensations. The fullness, the intimacy of being joined so completely.
Lewis is trembling with the effort to keep still above you. You trail kisses across his shoulder, silently telling him youâre ready.
Tenderly Lewis begins to move, rocking into you with gentle thrusts. The slight ache soon disappears, replaced by waves of pleasure. You wrap your legs around his hips, urging him deeper.
Lewis gradually increases his pace, unable to hold back any longer. His eyes burn into yours as he moves within you.
âI love you,â he gasps out. âLove you so much, Y/N.â
You cry out his name as the pleasure crests and breaks over you. Lewis follows seconds later with a low groan, burying his face in your neck.
You cling together as you float back to earth, hearts thundering in tandem. Lewis trails feather-light kisses over your face as you bask in the afterglow.
âThank you for trusting me with this gift, my darling,â Lewis eventually murmurs.
You smile up at him radiantly. âIâll love you forever for this night.â
Lewisâ eyes shine as he draws you impossibly closer. The crowds and thoughts of your brother seem lifetimes away. There is only you and Lewis and the sweet passion between you.
And as your bodies join in intimate unity, you know you made the right choice entrusting yourself completely to this man. For Lewis holds not just your body, but your heart.
***
The morning light filters into the bedroom, rousing you from sleep. You shift under the sheets, pleasantly sore, as memories from the night before come rushing back.
A smile steals over your face as you recall Lewisâ tender passion, the way he whispered his love to you again and again. Youâve never felt closer to another person.
Strong arms tighten around your waist from behind as Lewis nuzzles into your neck. âGood morning, my love,â he rumbles, voice still thick with sleep.
You roll over to face him, heart skipping at his rumpled hair and warm brown eyes. âMorning,â you whisper back, suddenly shy.
Lewisâ hand comes up to cup your face, his thumb stroking over your cheekbone. âHow are you feeling?â
You lean into his touch. âWonderful,â you say honestly. At his delighted grin, you add, âLast night was ⌠incredible. Iâve never felt anything like that before.â
âMmm, neither have I,â Lewis says seriously. âMaking love to you was the greatest gift you could have given me.â
He kisses you sweetly, then trails his lips along your jaw. âI canât wait to explore more with you,â he murmurs, making you shiver.
Over the next weeks and months, Lewis takes great joy in broadening your horizons in the bedroom. With endless patience he teaches you the intricacies of pleasure, guiding you through new experiences you once only dreamed of. Under his patient guidance, you blossom from an innocent novice to a confident lover.
He delights in watching you come undone under his skillful hands and mouth, praising you for being such an eager student. Your nights together are filled with ecstasy, whispered endearments, and an ever deepening bond.
âThatâs it, darling. Just like that,â Lewis groans as you learn to use your mouth on him. He gently guides your rhythm, fingers tangled in your hair. His throaty praise urges you on until he finally spills over with a ragged moan.
Other nights, he focuses solely on you. Lewis maps every inch of your body with lips, tongue and fingers until youâre trembling and oversensitized. Only then does he finally sink into your eager body and take you apart completely.
âSo perfect, so responsive,â he rasps in your ear as you claw at his back, his deep thrusts pushing you higher. âYou were made for me, love.â
Your muffled cries ring out as ecstasy crashes through you. Lewis follows moments later with a guttural groan, his fingers leaving bruises on your hips.
The end of the British Grand Prix finds you waiting nervously in Lewisâ driverâs room, heart swelling with pride at his victory. When he strides in, sweaty and exhilarated, his entire face lights up to see you there.
He sweeps you into his arms, kissing you passionately. âAnother win, my darling. Will you give me my prize now?â
You smile coyly up at him through your lashes. âHappily. Iâve missed you.â
Lewis groans and reclaims your lips. As your kisses grow heated, he murmurs, âYouâre the best motivation any driver could ask for. My favorite part of winning has become knowing youâll be here waiting for me.â
You make quick work of removing each otherâs clothes, too impatient for slow seduction. Lewis lays you back on the couch, eyes blazing with desire.
âI love watching you experience new pleasures,â he says thickly. âLet me show you something exquisite today.â
You nod eagerly, ready for whatever he wants to teach you. Lewis trails hot kisses down your body until heâs kneeling before you. He looks up at you with dark eyes.
âJust relax and feel, my love.â
When his mouth descends on you, you cry out in shocked rapture. He wasnât exaggerating about showing you something exquisite.
After, he gathers you close, pressing kisses to your temple. âWinning used to be my greatest joy,â he confesses softly. âNow, knowing youâll be waiting to reward me is the only thing that matters.â
You smile and kiss him tenderly. In Lewisâ arms, youâve discovered passion and intimacy beyond your wildest imaginings.
When asked about his dominance this season during interviews, Lewis just smiles secretively. âIâve found powerful motivation,â is all he offers.
You watch from the shadows, heart swelling with love and pride for the man whoâs brought you such fulfillment. You know that no matter what happens next, you'll never regret giving yourself so completely to Lewis.
***
You stand against a wall, watching Lewis take pictures with his side of the garage after a hard fought victory, unable to keep from smiling.
When he catches your eye, his lips quirk up. The heat in his gaze makes your cheeks flush.
Youâre so distracted you donât notice Charles until heâs right beside you. âEnjoying the celebrations?â He asks with a nudge to your shoulder.
You jump. âOh! Yes, itâs quite exciting.â
Charlesâ sharp eyes sweep between you and Lewis. âHmm. Well Iâm heading out for drinks with the team if youâd like to join.â
You grasp for an excuse. âOh, um, Iâm pretty tired actually âŚâ
âShe already has plans with me tonight.â
You freeze at Lewisâ voice over your shoulder. Dread pools in your stomach as you turn to see him watching Charles calmly.
Your brother goes rigid, eyes darting between you and Lewis. âPlans? What plans?â He asks, voice dangerously level.
You open your mouth but nothing comes out. Lewis steps closer, hand coming to rest on your lower back.
âIâm taking your sister out to dinner to celebrate properly,â he says smoothly. His thumb strokes your spine comfortingly.
Charlesâ eyes zero in on the intimate touch, nostrils flaring. âIs that so,â he states flatly. His piercing gaze bores into you. âAnd does this happen often?â
Your mouth is dry as dust. You look helplessly up at Lewis.
He meets Charlesâ glare steadily. âYour sister is an adult. Our relationship is no oneâs business but our own.â
âRelationship?â Charlesâ voice rises sharply. âHow long has this-this thing been going on?â
You wince at his accusing tone. âFor most of the season,â you whisper. âIâm sorry I didnât tell you, I just-â
Charles holds up a hand, looking ill. âI donât want to hear it. My own teammate, Y/N? Are you trying to ruin me?â
Indignation flares through you. âFor once, this isnât about you! I lov-â you break off, tears stinging your eyes.
Lewis wraps an arm around your shoulders, tucking you into his side. âThatâs enough, Charles,â he says quietly but firmly. âI understand youâre upset, but donât take it out on your sister.â
Charlesâ mouth twists bitterly. âOh so now youâre going to lecture me about my own family?â He takes a step closer, eyes blazing. âStay away from my sister, Hamilton, or I swear-â
âEnough!â Your shout echoes through the suddenly silent motorhome. You pull away from Lewis to stand tall, glaring at your brother.
âYou donât get to make demands, Charles. Not about this.â Your voice doesnât waver even as tears spill down your cheeks.
âIâm in love with Lewis. And he loves me. This is real.â Your tone softens. âI wanted to tell you. But I need you to understand that this is my choice.â
Charles looks stunned, anger fading into hurt. âY/N âŚâ he reaches for you but you step back, shaking your head.
âI just need some time. Please try to understand.â With that you turn and hurry away, ignoring the tears clouding your vision.
You donât stop until firm, familiar arms come around you. Lewis tucks you into his chest, stroking your hair as you finally let the tears fall.
âShh itâs alright, Iâve got you,â he murmurs. He continues holding you until the storm of emotion passes.
Finally you look up at him with red-rimmed eyes. âWhat do we do now?â
Lewis caresses your cheek gently. "Weâll figure it out together. I meant what I said, Iâm not giving you up.â
You manage a watery smile. Whatever comes next, you know you and Lewis can weather it as long as you have each other. Leaning up on your toes, you silence anymore words with a soft, sweet kiss.
It takes a few weeks, but finally Charles seeks you out.
âIâm sorry for how I reacted, petite soeur. It was a shock, but thatâs no excuse.â He takes your hands in his. âI just want you to be happy. And if Hamilton â if Lewis â is who you want, then ⌠I can accept that.â
Relief crashes over you. You fling your arms around Charles, tears pricking your eyes again.
âThank you,â you whisper into his shoulder. âThat means everything to me.â
Charles holds you close for a long moment before pulling back to give you a rueful smile. âJust promise me I wonât have to see anything too lovey-dovey between you two.â
You laugh through your tears. âI promise.â
Charles has never been able to resist when you turn your puppy dog eyes on him. And deep down, he wants nothing more than your happiness â even if thatâs with his teammate.

if youâre asexual⌠(18+)
⌠price
- understands.
- respects your limits to the fullest. asks âis this ok?â or âcan i touch you here?â a lot in the beginning, until you sit him down and explain that youâre not made of glass. he can touch and hold and kiss you like he would any other partner, just not shove his hand down your pants or flip your skirt up to get access to you.
- fills your relationship with domesticity instead. has your tea ready and brewing when you get up in the morning and knows exactly how you like the bed to be made. holds your hand when youâre out shopping and buys the special brand of cookies that you like. doesnât watch ahead on your shared tv-shows and always cuddles you on the sofa.
- if youâre sex neutral/positive, he loves messy blowjobs and getting to fuck you silly in missionary. heâs a little bit of a dom and also completely whipped for his wife.
⌠kyle
- understands.
- does not push it. does not even attempt to initiate anything. lets you have all the control. after a couple long conversations where you explain your needs and limits, heâs all set. once he knows how he can best spend time with you, thatâs all he needs. itâs actually a little refreshing to have a partner not chomping at the bit to jump his bones (curse of looking like an angel).
- gains a newfound appreciation for the sensual aspect of your relationship. running his fingertips over the stretchmarks on your hips, playing with ice cubes on your bare back, admiring the indents ropes makes across your skin after itâs been left on you a while. thereâs no penetration, no orgasms, just two people exploring each other together.
- if youâre sex neutral/positive, kyle loves the lotus position. thinks itâs the peak of sexual intimacy and absolutely adores being face to face so up close.
⌠johnny
- understands (after a little while).
- has a mini crisis because he thinks this means youâre not attracted to him. you explain thatâs not true, you actually find him super hot, but that you just donât want to sleep with him. that it feels like a chore to you, like doing dishes. not horrible, but maybe a little gross and just something youâd just rather not do.
- embraces the romantic side of your relationship. loves the intimacy, getting to hold and kiss you. drapes over your back like a warm cloak when you chop vegetables at the kitchen counter and just enjoys the closeness. finds a new peace in himself he hasnât felt for years.
- if youâre sex neutral/positive, he loves it when you ride him or tease him with your hand. still a complete maniac if he really lets lose. loves getting to let lose with you.
⌠simon
- understands.
- is almost relieved. has always had a complicated relationship to sex. knowing that you donât want it from him settles some part of him thatâs been restless and anxious for years. chaste kisses on the lips and constant handholding become your new normal. is very matter of factly about it if he does ask you for sex.
- finds that he most of all just wants to spend time with you. follows you around like a lost dog, no matter what you do. always comes to run errands with you or sits in the shade outside while you work in the garden. even when you get up to pee at night, he lumbers after you and stays just outside the bathroom door, squinting at the dim light. youâre so used to it that itâs second nature when he catches the bottom of your sleep shirt and lets you guide him back to bed. feels so at peace when youâre close by.
- if youâre sex neutral/positive, simon will sometimes ask if he can eat you out or if you can lay back on the kitchen table so he can fuck you. you tend to oblige.

heeseung doesnât understand why youâre always warm but he does what he can in order to cool you down
if it means you both have to sleep without the duvet at night, so be it
or if you have to move to the living room/another room where itâs cooler, heâs going with you
doesnât care if heâs cold or not
you threw the comforter off of your body, shifting for the fourth time that night. heeseung was sound asleep next to you until you sat up, ready to get out of bed.
âbaby?â he sat up, hair fluffy from his pillow. his arm remained around you as he pulled you back into the bed.
âwhere are you going?â
âto the living room.â you whispered.
âare you warm again?â he opened his eyes all the way, now looking at you with concern.
you nod, throwing the rest of the thick blanket off of you.
without a word, heeseung rolled out of his side of the bed, walking to the door.
âcome on,â he held out his hand for you to take. your bows furrowed in confusion but you got up, grabbing his hand and following him.
you both walked downstairs, the breeze from just walking giving you a bit of relief. heeseung guided you into the cool living room, letting go of your hand as he settled on one of the couches across from the first one.
âhee, are you sure you arenât cold?â you chuckled, almost feeling bad for him coming down there with you.
âiâm good as long as youâre good, honey.â he mumbled, his eyes closing once his head hit the sofaâs pillow.
âš đ
đđ ďź
heâs kinda concerned
but he takes care of you nonetheless
he adjusts his living for you
meaning, since youâve moved in together, your apartmentâs ac is always blasting
even if itâs in the middle of winter, heâll buy snacks that cool you down like ice pops and what-not.
overall, he just wants you to feel comfortable
âjeez, why is it so chilly in here?â you shivered at the sudden temperature change as you and jay entered your apartment, setting the groceries on the counter.
âdidnât you say it was too warm for you last night?â he asked, putting some things in the freezer.
âwell yeah, but i didnât realize you would turn it into an icebox in here..â
jay chuckled, turning to face you, âdo you want me to change it then?â
âno no, itâs fine, but arenât you cold?â
he shrugged, âfeels great to me.â
yes, he was freezing but he wasnât going to tell you that.
âš đđđŚďź
jake is so caring when it comes to you
even if you can yourself the slightest, heâll drop what heâs doing and do anything he can to cool you down (like jay)
he even buys you one of those small handheld fans
he keeps ice packs too, especially on a hot summer day
he buys you a lot of tank tops or any clothes that keep you cool
you sat next to jake while he played one of his games as he occasionally spoke through the mic to his friends. every few minutes, he would turn and check if you were okay or if you needed anything.
but when he saw the thin layer of sweat on your forehead and your hand come up to wave air into your face, he quickly removed his headset.
âyou okay, love?â he asked, brows knitted together.
you nodded, still fanning yourself slightly.
âjust a little warm, thatâs all..â
he said something into his mic before standing up and leaving the room.
he came back with the white fan he bought you and a change of clothes.
âchange and then use this, alright? let me know if you want a glass of water or anything.â he kissed your head as you thanked him, turning to head to the bathroom to change.
âš đ
đ âďź
once again, hoonie knows when youâre bothered by something
whether youâre someone whoâs always warm or always cold, he knows when you are and when you arenât
you donât have to say anything
like jake, even if you fan yourself once, heâs already at your side with an ice pop and the ac turned all the way up LMAO
im ngl, he gets concerned too and he may ask you about it
does his research so he can know how to help keep your surroundings just right; not too warm, but not too cold
and if you like it, he might run you a cool shower or bath
also, he often takes you to the skating rink where itâs absolutely freezing
âhoon, what are you doing..?â you watched him from the sofa as he stood by the wall, clicking buttons on the thermostat.
âsetting the temperature.â he said plainly.
âi thought it was already set?â
âit was, but iâm fixing it for you.â sunghoon responded as he continued to lower the temperature.
âfor me..?â
âyeah. youâre always warm.â he had finally set the thermostat to a reasonable temperature, now joining you back on the sofa to start the movie you wanted to watch.
you smiled as he wrapped his arm around you, absolutely enamored by his thoughtfulness.
âš đđ đ¤ďź
sunoo is someone whoâs definitely concerned for you
he takes care of you but also reminds you to take care of yourself, especially when heâs not there to do so
he buys a lot of water for you and keeps fans all over your house
he insists on you drinking it even when youâre not hot
he teases you sometimes, calling you his sunshine since youâre always warm
he likes to make homemade popsicles with you
âhey sunshine, did you drink anything today?â sunoo asks, kissing your cheek before sitting next to you in your shared bed.
âyeah, only water.â
âhow much?â
âabout.. 7 bottles.â
âhm.. thatâs not enough.â he sulked, poking your side.
âsunoo, i literally peed like 11 times today. iâm pretty sure it was more than enough.â you giggled, remembering how you had to pee almost every 30 minutes.
âwell, google saysââ
âmy bladder is telling me something different. if i drink another bottle, i think iâll piss myself.â
âš đđđ¤ďź
jungwon takes you on walks to cool you down
even during summer, heâll wait til the evening or night when itâs cooler and heâll take you walking
heâs very considerate of you and always making sure youâre not overheating or anything
he also likes to make sure your room is cool before the two of you go to bed
âyou okay, baby?â he glances at you as you both walked through your neighborhood. you nod, shuffling closer to him and holding his hand tighter.
âthis is nice.â
âthe air or the walk?â
âboth.â you responded, smiling at him. the air relieved you, cooling down your warm body.
âand being with you. thank you for caring so much.â
âno need to thank me, love. itâs what iâm supposed to do.â he kissed the top of your head. âare you thirsty? still warm?â
you shook your head, âno, iâm okay. the walk is really helping actually.â
he nodded, smiling slightly, continuing your stroll in a comfortable silence.
âš đđđďź
ki tends to find this amusing (?) since he tends to get cold easily (idk if this is true itâs just for the hc guys đ˘)
heâll tease you, calling you his âpersonal heaterâ
he always puts his hands under your shirt to cool you down and to warm him up
all joking aside, he does try his best to keep you cool even when itâs freezing to him
heâll surprise you with cold treats like slushies or frozen yogurt
and if itâs a summer day, he might even buy water guns/balloons or visit a pool
âriki, get off of me,â you whined for the third time, trying to push the boy off of you.
âitâs way too hot.â
âyouâre warm, though.. arenât my hands making it better? iâm freezing..â he sulked, his cool hand rubbing circles on your belly.
âi guess..â
âexactly, so stop your whining.â he grumbled, turning to watch the show that played on the tv screen.
âbut youâre heavy! and i feel like iâm suffocating.â
he sighed, lifting himself up, âstay here.â
he walked out of the room for a second, coming back a few minutes later with a blue slushy drink in hand.
your eyes lit up as you happily took the drink from his hands, immediately taking sips from the straw.
âthank you, babe.â you smiled.
âyeah, yeah.â he answered playfully, climbing back on top of you.

⸺ the one where you dream about a guy youâve never met before as your fiancĂŠe. â kind of soulmates!au; fem!reader (she/her). 0.7k words

Your bare feet clapped against the cold hardwood floor as you sleepily walked into the dark house. It was too foggy, you werenât even sure you were looking for something âor rather someone until you saw his broad form lying on the couch. The TV was on lighting the living room space, and he was in an awkward position, one leg up on the back of the sofa, one arm hanging off to the ground where a small golden dog lay. You smiled.
He looked soft.
He looked comfortable, even though the position seemed nothing like it.
Your legs moved at his own pace to his side, bending just enough to pet the dachshund and sitting in the small space beside the man. He stirred. He was a light sleeper.
Your fingers found their way to his bare chest, dancing the path to his jaw and then his chocolate hair.
You kissed the rosy skin of his face just like the sun did a couple of days ago. He burned so easily, yet his skin always got a perfect amount of golden mixed with the few burn spots.
âAmour?â He whispered, eyes still closed.
âOui,â you tried the words and loved how they tasted in your tongue. Just how he taught you during sleepless nights. âI missed you in bed,â was your confession.
âLeo was scratching the door for a snack break, I came down to feed him and ended up falling asleep while waiting for him to finish,â he explained, sitting up just enough to face the dog peacefully snoring on the ground. âLet's go to bed,â he called, kissing your exposed shoulder and getting up.
He laced your fingers together and you walked hand in hand to your bedroom. There was a candle lit near the bathroom door â he liked candles and you liked to have a bit of light when you needed to pee in the middle of the night. The sheets were messy but still warm. It smelled like the two of you.
He lay down, grabbing your sides and propping slightly on top of him. His warm lips found your temple, and your mouth searched for his like a prayer begging to be said. His fingers dug into your soft flesh, and you sighed before pecking his jawline and closing your eyes so that sleep could find you again.
Your alarm blarred in your room making you jump from the covers. It took you a second to realize you were alone. And not alone in the sense that someone once was there, but alone in the sense that the spot beside you in bed was never previously occupied in the first place. You had no dog. No warm lover. It was all just a dream.
Something weird ached in your chest, but you tried brushing it off and going on with your morning. Mornings turned into days, days into weeks, and still something felt off. You kept feeling the warmth you felt in that dream. Kept imagining the same guy whose face was now starting to blur. Did he have green or blueish eyes? Was his hair brown or black? Did he had dimples? Did he speak French all the time or just small bits?
He plagued your mind.
You tried your best to forget - even if by doing so part of you felt guilty, for what you were not sure. Yet, you kept going, kept reading new books, watching new shows, and going to your spot in the park to watch the leaves and ducks.
It was a Tuesday when it happened. You were lying on a picnic blanket with a book. The weather was slightly cold, but not enough to bother you. There weren't many people around, and that is why you frowned when you felt something sniff your hair, right after someone called out âLeo!!! Viens ici!âÂ
*come here!
The French accent lit your body giving you warmth even with the cold wind. There it was the small dog, the golden dog, the one he left bed to feed. And there he was, greenish eyes, chocolate hair, dimples when he smiled, and the most beautiful accent youâve ever heard.
âIâm so sorry for him,â he apologized once you were face to face, but you dismissed it with a headshake still too stunned to speak. âIâm Charles, itâs nice to meet you.â
âLikewise, Charles. Iâm Yn.â
He smiled when his palm found yours, and just like in the vision, everything felt warm and cozy.
He was real. And something told you that part of your dream was too.
ââââââ â𪊠VOICEMAIL: Hi, besties! A couple nights ago I had a weird dream just like in this small blurb, I tried but I still can't put into words how it felt - besides magic. I dreamed of a guy whose features I started to forget since I woke up, he was warm and soft, I don't remember his voice but I was pretty sure he loved me, maybe he never said it to me like in this blurb, but I felt it. Anyways, not gonna overshare, but yet I needed to get a bit of it out of my chest cuz I dunno how to feel. ⥠if youâre struggling to get out of bed, try keeping everything you need on your bedside table so you can still do your skincare routines and take your daily vitamins from your bed
⥠run a nice relaxing bubble bath!!!
⥠put on some cosy pjs & grab a pink fluffy blanket and snuggle on the sofa instead of staying in bed all day
⥠set rules for yourself, write some things you that want to achieve in a day. such as keeping your skin moisturised, shower twice a day, drink enough water, getting out of bed. anything that applies to you. self care can become confusing and daunting, so write everything down to remind yourself to look after and cherish yourself
⥠make sure youâre eating enough. even if youâre not feeling hungry, if you donât have the energy to cook, order takeout! itâs ok to eat takeout sometimes, just not all of the time as junk food can be highly addictive, and obviously isnât very good for you
⥠try writing down your thoughts and feelings. i love journaling and covering the pages with pink stickers and making it look all pretty, itâs so therapeutic
⥠reach out to a mental health professional if things get too bad. this may feel hard, but if you need help desperately pls get it
⥠acknowledge that what youâre feeling is just temporary, whatever youâre feeling wonât last forever
⥠make sure youâre getting enough sleep. whenever i didnât get enough sleep in the past, i would sometimes start seeing and hearing things, and would become very paranoid and disassociated, which is obviously not what anyone wants. so pls pls pls make sure youâre prioritising your sleep
⥠treat yourself, buy something pink and pretty just because you can
⥠take a day or 2 off work (if allowed)
tiny disclaimer: these tips may seem obvious to those of you without serious mental health problems, and they may be things you do everyday but when someone with mental health problems is in a really bad place, they can sometimes forget how to look after themselves properly, or in my case a few years ago i would just stop caring about myself. i love all of my pretty sugar dollies so much, look after yourselves and i really hope some of these tips help you đđŚ˘

âAre you sure you want to do this?â Solana stops humming as she rips her gaze from the several pots that she currently has sitting on the fire. âItâs not too late.â
Rolling her eyes, she rubs her hands off on her apron and walks over to her husband. Roman pulls her into him as she lifts her hands around his neck. âRoâŚ..â
âWe could just not open the door.â
âRoman.â
This would be Solanaâs welcome home party. Two weeks. Sheâs been home for two weeks, and itâs been a beautiful transition. Being back with her husband and Dulce has meant the world to her. Itâs why she wanted to take some time to enjoy the two most important figures in her life before hosting such a social function.
But now the big day has arrived, and while sheâs filled with excitement, her husbandâŚ..is not.
âWhat if I buy you something instead? Like an island? Just for us.â Solana is taken back for a moment. Sheâs still yet to fully grasp the perennial extent of the Bloodlineâs reach and wealth. Of her husbandâs billionaire status. âHave security set to shoot to kill if anyone tries to bother us.â
She smiles, because while his words are borderline disturbing, the seriousness in his voice and expression are slightly humorous. âRo, thatâs not nice.âÂ
Roman also rolls his eyes, Solana having a bit of a hard time taking him seriously. Heâs so petulant, like a child. âBaby, how many times we gotta have this conversation? I love you and hate everyone else.â
âDulce?â
âTolerable.â
Shaking her head, she shifts her hands to his chest. âThis is what I want, Roman. Iâve been gone for so long. I justâŚ.I just want to be surrounded by the people I love.â And before he can say anything else, she clarifies, âbeyond just you and Dulce.â
âShe donât like this shit either. She likes us. Thatâs it.â
âThatâs not what I heard. Apparently, Jimmy really is her new bestie.â Solana giggles, thinking back to the photos Naomi sent and shared with her of Jimmy sitting on the sofa with Dulce, Dulce even sleeping in the bed with him as he took a nap. Almost identical to the ones she received while they were in Mexico. It seems Romanâs cousin has taken a liking to her sweet little puppy.
Roman looks even more irritated as he shares, âyou know he had her sleeping in the bed with him again?â Solana does in fact know. Sheâs got photographic evidence to prove it. âI swear, I saw her little ass standing up on her legs on the side of our bed like she wanted to get in the other day. She can try that shit with us if she wants to, butââ
Solana leans up and kisses him, effectively silencing his rant. Romanâs hands are on the small of her back, deepening the kiss as his tongue glides across her bottom lip, Solana having to prematurely end the kiss when he starts guiding her towards the nearest clear counter that he doesnât hesitate to prop her up on.
She knows exactly where this is headed, and she has way too many things left to do before the party kicks off.
Ignoring his scowl at her drawing a line in the sand, she does her best to encourage him, âtoday is going to be a good day. Weâre going to have a good timeââ
âdebatable.âÂ
ââand if you can try to be nice and not curse at or hurt anybodyââ
ââdo you not know who I am?â
âThen after the party and everyoneâs goneââ her eyes drop to his chest, a bit of sheepishness overcoming her. ââwhen itâs just you and meâŚ.â Solana pushes past her shyness at even thinking of it, sharing in a quiet voice, âthen Iâll do the thing.â
Roman looks skeptical, clearly not following, âthe thing?â
Solana swallows. She hates how uncomfortable and embarrassed she feels about discussing this. âYou knowâŚ.theâŚ..thing you want me to do where IâŚ..sit.âÂ
And itâs that elaboration that brings a smug smile on his handsome face. âYou finally gonna sit on my face, baby?â
Solanaâs cheeks are flamed and reddened. âNot so loud.â She looks around, as if someone could be eavesdropping on quite literally the most sexual thing sheâll have ever done. âButâŚ..yâyes.â She lifts a finger, reminding him of the stipulation. âBut, only if you can bâbehave.âÂ
Roman smirks, dropping his gaze to her chest that looks amazing in her little dress. âFor you, I can be very good.â She smiles up at him, âbut something before could also be a nice incentive.â
Solana slaps Roman on the chest and tugs herself away, hopping off the counter as he squeezes her ass. âRo, I have to finish cooking, and Melina should be here any minute.â
He scowls, eyes briefly falling to her ass as she moves back over to the stove. âWho is that again?â
âOne of my friends from treatment,â she answers over a sigh, grabbing the almost emptied bottle of Adobo. âI told you that this morning.âÂ
âYeah, while you were getting dressed. I wasnât paying attention to anything except them titties.â
She turns to him, cheeks red, and not from her makeup. âRoman, you canâtâŚnevermind....can you do me a favor?â
âCan we cancel the party?â She gives him a look, forcing him to resign. âFine. What do you need?â
She motions to the aluminum trays of food lined up all on the kitchen island. A small part of him feels bad for not helping her cook. Heâs far from the best, not even remotely close to her in terms of talent, but Solana woke up at the ass crack of dawn this morning to finish cooking. Because she started yesterday evening, and itâs only occurring to him now that he hasnât done a ton to help her.
She asked the security around them to set up the backyard, chairs and tables and shit. Now that he thinks about it, she hasnât asked him for much, really.Â
Sighing and realizing his role, or lack thereof, in this thing brings on small amount of guilt.
Roman moves behind her, speaking before she can scold him yet again for trying to distract her. âIâm sorry.â He feels the way she relaxes in his embrace, sees how she angles her head to look at him with all the confusion. âI know this isâŚimportant to you, and I donât mean to be difficult.â
Because it is, and because he doesnât. Heâs immensely proud of her, of how well sheâs adjusted to being back home full time after being gone for so long. The least he can do is try to be a bit more supportive, even if just the thought of this damn party and being forced to interact with people makes him physically ill.Â
âYou? Difficult? Never.â He rolls his eyes at her sarcastic tone as she turns her body inward to his. âItâs okay. I know youâre not veryâŚ..social, but itâs just one party. And when everyoneâs goneâŚ.itâs just you and me.â
Roman loves the sound of that. His dick stiffening at just the thought of her climbing on top and sitting on his faâ
âBut until then, party first.â She bursts his bubbles, separating and motioning to the trays. âNow, food, please.â
Roman rolls his eyes but follows suit, reaching for the first set of food that smells delicious and has him tempted to just eat before everyone else arrives. Heâs near the back door when she calls behind him.Â
âMuchas gracias, papi.â
Itâs by the grace of God that he doesnât drop the tray onto the floor. Truly. Because while Roman is far from fluent in Spanish, heâs picked up a few things. Learned some more since being married to Solana.Â
He knows muchas gracias is âthank you very muchâ.
And he knows that papiâŚ..is âdaddyâ.
Solana just called him daddy.Â
Fuck.
A quick glance back in her direction reveals a small, coy smile. Intentional. She knows exactly what she just did.
He has to take a minute to compose himself.
This woman will easily be the end of him.Â
âAinât nobody sleeping tonight,â he says it loud enough so she can hear, the last thing filling his ears is her soft laughter.Â
ââââ
âMrs. Reigns.â
Solana has just finished pouring the pasta into the aluminum pan when she hears her name called by one of the security guards. Turning around, a huge smile falls onto her face as the guard steps aside.
âMelina!â
Solanaâs smile is stapled as she carefully places the sizzling pot into the sink and runs a bit of water to prevent staining before shutting it off and heading in Melinaâs direction.
A hug is initiated and a lack of tensing is prevalent in both women. The two of them just enjoying the embrace. Solana is the first to pull back, sharing, âIâm so happy you could make it.â
Itâs been two weeks since theyâve last seen each other in person, since they completed residential treatment, but theyâve texted consistently since them. A couple FaceTime calls as well. With Cam and Mickie, too.Â
âThanks for inviting me.â Melinaâs smile isnât as big, but itâs just as genuine. Thatâs just Melina. She looks around the house, eyes widening a bit. âYour house is beautiful.â
Solana starts to correct her. Starts to point out that it was Romanâs first. She just happened to move in when they got married, but she stops herself, because thatâs not the truth. This is her home. Hers and Romanâs. Itâs just as much hers now as it is his. So, she settles on a much better response, âthank you.â She motions to the kitchen. âYou still willing to help me cook?â
Another thing they bonded over includes cooking. Something Melina loves just as much as Solana.Â
Melina smirks. âOf course.â She digs into her purse, pulling out the brand new bottle of Adobo seasoning. âEven brought an extra one, just in case.â
Solana gives a big sigh of relief. âIâm running low, too.â She was almost tempted to ask Roman to make a grocery run for her in the event the little she has left wasnât enough to season the remaining food. âNow, I made most of the main dishes last night. Itâs just some appetizers and desserts.â
âYou want me to do the conchas and sopaipillas?â
âIf you donât mind?â It would help Solana out a ton. Especially since theyâre the favorites of her husband and his ravenous cousins.Â
Melina shakes her head. âOf course not, just show me the apron.âÂ
ââââ
Mickie and Cam show up shortly after, but as both are not cooks and donât hesitate to express as such, theyâre relegated to finishing up some of the little things that need to be done in the backyard.
The Wise Man arrives as well, him and Roman disappearing in his office to discuss some work matters. At least, that would be Solanaâs guess for their departure.
A little while later, the doorbell rings and Solana rushes over, excited that the bulk of the guests are preparing to arrive.Â
Roman happens to meet her at the same time sheâs near the front door, only for her to pause when she overhears a voice.
Jeyâs voice.
â.....and when we get up in this house, yaâll better act right. Donât break nothing. Donât burn nothing. And that goes for each other, too. Yaâll know how your uncle Roman is. He not gonâ hesitate to put us all out, and Iâm not trying to have that happen, cause ya mama is refusing to fix dinner tonight, so we gonâ need to eaâJosiah! Did you just flip off your brother?â
âHeâs being a dick!â
âAye, donât be using that kind of language. Iâm not gon keep telling you that!â A pause. âJournee! What happened to the bow in your hair?â
âI donât want a stinkin' bow!â
âLil girl, Iâm tired of you leaving the house looking homeless. Got people thinking Iâm neglecting you and shit!â
âIf weâre not supposed to say bad words, how come you can say bad words?â
Solana grabs Romanâs hand and pulls him so they can take a step back. âAreâare those his kids?â
âMore like demons, but yes.â Solana gives him that disapproving look. âHey, you wanted to invite them. I tried to tell you.â
Solana shakes her head. âTheyâreâtheyâre probably just having a bad day.â
âEvery day is a bad day for them then.âÂ
Solana slaps him on the arm and clears her throat. She takes one last look at Roman whoâs giving her that âI tried to warn youâ look, which she discards to open the beautifully designed front door, a big smile on her face when she locks gazed with a grinning Jey.
âWhatâs up, Soso!â Before Solana can even process whatâs happening, Jey is in front of her, hugging her, picking her up.Â
Sheâs almost moved on an emotional level at how this doesnât trigger her, doesnât cause her to tense up. Just feels like a warm embrace from a good friend.Â
From family.
Jey sets her down on the ground and compliments, âyou look good, girl!â She smiles, biting down on her bottom lip. Compliments are still a bit of a struggle for her. Especially ones not from her husband. âWe missed you.â
âI missed you, too.â Because she did. She missed them all. Solana sets her focus on the set of children, of various ages and sexes. Two girls and two boys who all look like their father in various ways, sans their complexions, which are a few shades deeper. âYou must beââ
âBoobies!â Solanaâs jaw drops at the exclamation of the boy whoâs the tallest and probably oldest. His eyes are as wide, dazed, and mesmerized as he points to her chest. âTheyâre so big. Are they real?â
âJosiah Fatu!â
He ignores Jeyâs harsh use of what Solana would guess is his name. âCan I feel themâŚ.â Solana goes to straighten up as the little boy starts to reach for her chest.Â
Roman is quick to yank Solana so her back is against his front, his arm wrapped protectively around her as she uses her own forearm to cover the cleavage showing with her dress. âYou better get your son before I kill his ass, Jey!â
âIâm so sorry, Soso.â Jey apologizes and turns his attention to Josiah. âBoy, have you lost your damn mind?â
Josiah scowls. âYouâre the one who said Aunt Solana has nice tits!â
âI was talking to your uncle Jeremiah, not you!â Jey clears his throat, nervous eyes briefly darting to Roman who Solana absolutely makes sure to hold onto. She can feel his anger growing by the second. âUhh, let meâlet me talk to him for a minute.â Jey then directs the kids, âyaâll go on in the house, and remember what I said!â
Not even seconds later, the remaining three children dart into the home, Solana yelping and pressing herself into Roman to avoid being run into.
âDonât be running in my damn house!â Roman calls after them, looking down at Solana as Jey drags Josiah away from the door and to the side. âYou see what Iâm saying now?â
Solana opens her mouth and then closes it, finally settling on, âtheyâre just excited anââ
Sheâs cut short by the sound of glass shattering. Her mouth shuts again as Roman closes his eyes. âRo, just breatheââ
âWhat the hell did yaâll just break?â Roman yells out, and she moves her hands soothingly up and down his chest. âExcited, my ass, Solana. Iâm telling you. Iâm going to kill one of these kids before the day is over.â
âRoman, you are not going to kill one of the kids,â Solana assures, bringing her hands to his face, forcing his gaze back on her. âItâsâitâs going to be fine. Remember, Iââ
The sound of loud laughter and the quick patter of feet, both human and not human, redirect the couples attention as Dulce comes running up to her parents, seeking asylum from the little girls hot on her trail. Quickly, Solana leans down to pick up Dulce who instantly starts whining.Â
âYaâll leave the damn dog alone,â Roman warns, Solana using her elbow to lightly bump him for his tone.Â
âSheâs just a puppy, so she gets scared a lot. Thatâthatâs all.â Solana explains in a kind voice, recognizing they probably just want to pet her. âMaybe ifââÂ
Sheâs silenced by two of the kids rushing past her and Roman, prompting him to remind them yet again, âI said stop running in my goddamn house!â Roman takes a step back from his wife, shaking his head. Fuck this. âSolana, I canât do thââ
âWhassup, my dawgs!â
âSami?â Roman is visibly confused and now even more annoyed at the presence of a genial looking Sami in their doorway âWhat the hell are you doing here?â
âI told Jimmy to invite him,â Solana explains, walking over while still holding Dulce who immediately stops whimpering when she sees Sami. âHi, Sami. Thanks for coming!â
âYeah, of course. I would never deny the Tribal Chiefâs wife anything.â He says with a nervous thumbs up to Roman who still looks murderous. Sami nervously clears his throat, leaning down to look at Dulce. âAnd who is this?â
âThis is Dulce,â Solana introduces and offers. âWould you like to hold her?â
âOf course!â Sami is careful with how he takes the puppy, who Solana notices immediately starts wagging her little tail. âWell, arenât you just the cutest little thing? Well, yes you are.â
âSoso!â Solana looks past Sami to see Naomi and Jimmy, the latter of which bumps his wife out of the way to rush towards her for a hug. Similar to Jey, he picks her up and lightly spins her. âYou finally out of lockdown!â
âJimmy!â
Naomi looks horrified, shoving her husband before pulling Solana in for a hug. Roman just looks pissed. Meanwhile, Jimmy shrugs, sniffing the air. He claps his hands and rubs them together, âman, that food sure does smell good. Iâm about to go fix my plate beforeââ
âNo,â Solana interrupts, clarifying. âKids eat first.â
âKids?â Jimmy scowls as Sami walks in the house to the back, most likely to head out in the backyard, having handed Dulce to Roman. âMan, Jeyâs bad ass kids can wait.â
âSolo is bringing his sons too.â
âHe what?â Roman and Jimmy are synched, Solana and Naomi sharing an amused smile. Roman cuts in, asking, âSolana, youâve never even met his kids.â
âIâve never met his wife either, but I invited her too.â Solana explains, ready to try to help her husband understand it felt rude to her to invite Solo who, despite rockiness at some points, she has appreciated over the past months serving as her protector when Roman canât, but not his family.
âAhhh! Solana!â Biancaâs excited voice sounds, drawing the group's attention to not only her but Jade and their respective partners, Montez and Trick. Solana accepts the hugs and compliments from both ladies.
Montez lowers his sunglasses taking in the mansion, red solo cup in the other hand. âDamn. This how the Tribal Chief living? This shit nice as hell.â
âGated and everything,â Trick chimes. Both men straighten up and clear their throats at Romanâs irritated, piercing gaze. Trick coughing up a quiet, âsir.â
Roman says nothing, the men following Jade and Bianca as Naomi directs them to the backyard.Â
âOh my gosh!â Melinaâs shocked voice sounds as she comes from the kitchen, pointing with a horrified expression. âWhat the hell is wrong with these children?â
At that, Roman demands Jimmy. âGet them.â
Jimmy shakes his head, running over, disappearing from the line of vision. âHey! Yaâll stop trying to kill the Wise Man!â Jimmyâs shout can be heard even if he canât be seen. âTake that tie from around his neck rightâare you recording? Girl, put that damn phone down right now!â
Melina walks over, clearly disturbed, Solana offering both herâand Romanâapologetic smiles.
âI hope they have some weed at this party. I havenât gotten high in over 12 hours.â
âMother, you will not get high at this party, do you understand me?â
âYou know that old hag doesnât listen.â
âSuck my dick, Escobar!â
âAbuelita, please!â
The remaining three adults, as well as Dulce, redirect their attention to the next set of arrivals. Bayley and her mother Juanita who are accompanied by a man Solana would guess is Bayleyâs father as well as an older woman.
âSolana!â Bayley walks up to Solana, giving her a big, warm hug. One that Solana reciprocates with all the warmth in the world. âMelina?â
âBayley?â
Confused, watching Bayley move to hug Melina, Solana asks, âyou guys know each other?â
Bayley is the one to answer with a soft smile. âSheâs been with my cousin Santos for years.â Bayley takes Melinaâs hand in hers. âPractically family.â
Wow. Thatâs a connection Solana most definitely didnât see coming.
Bayley's dad clears his throat, addressing Roman, âThank you, sir, for allowing us in your beautiful home.â
âI didnââ
âYou must be Bayleyâs dad?â Solana cuts off her husband, already knowing heâs about to say something rude. Or worse. She offers her hand. âIâm Solana.â
The older man shifts his focus, accepting the handshake, offering his name as his eyes settle into something almost soft.
And sad.
Juanita steals a hug from Solana, holding onto her a bit as she asks her husband. âBernardo, who does she look like? I know youâll know!â
He smiles, but thereâs nothing happy about it. âAlma.â Now Solana is the one frowning. âShe looks like Alma.â
Instantly, Solana can feel Juanitaâs energy shift, matching that of her husbands.
âWho the hell is that?â Romanâs annoyed voice cuts in as he switches Dulce from one arm to the other.Â
Bernardo gives a solemn nod, explaining, âMy late brotherâs daughter. SheâŚ..passed away many years ago.â
Oh.
âSo, youâre saying my wife looks like a dead woman?â
âRoman!â Solana harshly whispers, though sheâs also a bit unsure how to respond to that. âUmmââ
âGot any weed around here?â The older woman who Juanita shares the same eyes and lips with asks in a rough voice, adding on, âthough the food smells pretty good too.â
âMother, please.â Juanita shakes her head, apologizing. âIâm so sorry we had to bring her. Sheâd been staying at this nice nursing home we found for her, but she got kicked outâŚ.again.â
âThis is the fourth damn one in six months,â Bernardo mutters.Â
âDidnât even hit that bitch that hard,â Abuelita defends when her gaze suddenly falls to Roman. âOh.â She walks over to him, her hand on his bicep, Solana seeing the instant look of disapproval and disgust that appears on his handsome face. âNow, you are a man, arenât you?â Switching her attention to Solana, she so casually asks, âitâs big, isnât it? Heavy too. I can tell by the way he stands.â
âAbuelita!â Bayleyâs face is reddening by the second as she carefully grabs her grandma by the arm. âIâm just gonna take her out back.â She sends Roman an apologetic look and ushers Abuelita away as the older woman asks something about cocaine. Bernardo and Juanita follow suit with Melina excusing herself to check on Conchas.
Left alone with just her husband, Solana relieves him of Dulce, her sweet little baby nestling her head against Solanaâs chest.Â
âRoman, please, you said youâd behave.â
âWell, that was before I found out you invited half the damn city,â is his counter as he asks, âSolana, just how many people did you invite?â
âEnough,â is her vague answer. She sighs at his unchanging expression of wanting to know. âOkay, I didnât tell you how many because I knew youâd be annoyed.âÂ
âIâm notââ
âAnd I made sure that Jimmy and Jey vetted everyone, so there wouldnât be any safety concerns,â she offers, hoping that it ebbs away some of his frustration.
Roman has a lot of questions, but the most important one is the one he asks next. âDo they all knowââ
âNo,â she answers in a quiet voice. âOutside of like the obvious, they all just think itâs a get-together.â
Roman nods. That chips away some of his irritation. Solanaâs mental health is not the business of all these damn people.Â
âGood.â Is all he says, reaching for Dulce. âItâs best she stay in our room. Away fromââ
âHey, Uce!â Jey suddenly sounds, standing by the still open front door. âYou got a ladder or something? Journee ass on the damn roof!â
ââââ
All things considered, itâs a fun time. Solana enjoys serving people and is granted a major confidence boost from all of the compliments she receives over her cooking. It truly warms her heart, almost as much as the seamless meeting and introduction of Bayley and Naomi to the rest of her new friend group: Cam, Mickie, and Melina.
The ladies all seem to get along well, so much so that the conversation and idea regarding a girls trip to Mexico isnât even something that Solana has to bring up. Some of the other ladies do it for her.
And itâs beyond exciting to her.Â
The whole party is an ordeal. Mostly fun with some hiccups. Roman having to eventually delegate all of JeyâsâŚâŚexcited kids to staying in the backyard where they can be monitored. Itâs an interesting juxtaposition. Jeyâs kids with Soloâs children who are almost scarily obedient. Yes sir and no sir. Staying seated, almost afraid to interact with anyone other than their parents. Soloâs wife, Madi, is also not as friendly as Solana was hoping for, mostly staying with her quiet children. Her nose is turned up almost the entire time too, her arm looped with her husbandâs.
Abuelita is placed in the house in the living room where sheâs left to watch The Price is Right reruns after being upset at the lack of available substances outside of alcohol.
âWhat the fuck kind of Mafia boss doesnât have any drugs in his house?â
Itâs an especially fun time with the music, a combination of Rap, R&B, with, of course, Spanish music. The last of those creating many fun memories of Solana, Bayley, Melina and even Juanita sharing some classic Spanish dances with the other attendees.
Though there does reach a point where Roman not so subtly pulls Solana away from dancing, whispering something in her ear thatâs far too NSFW with all the children present regarding her tempting him.
She stays by his side for a little bit after that, noticing how he really only interacts with herself, the twins, and the Wise Man.Â
Thatâs it.Â
Solana is starting to wonder if he really does hate people as much as he says he does.
A random little thing she does find kind ofâŚ..cute almost is the interaction between Nia and Bautista. ThereâŚ.there could be something there.
Itâs not nearly as hilarious though as the interaction between the twins, Montez, and Trick. Trick and Jey somehow creating a new combination of âYeetâ and âWhoop that Trick.â
Roman, as expected, is the only one not amused.
He actually looks like heâs in some form of physical pain.Â
The real challenge, however, is finding an activity thatâs both appropriate and enjoyable for adults and children, especially with such a mixed group of people. Naturally, Uno is the first thing brought up, but logistically, that doesnât work out for lack of enough cards for everyone. Itâs also something that, according to Naomi and Bayley, would end up in probable murder given the competitiveness of the men. Bloodline and not.
A couple of additional ideas are thrown out before the vast majority settles on a simple, easy game of red light, green light.
At leastâŚ.it was supposed to be easy.
âDamnit!â Bayley cusses as she and Jade are the next set of players to fail to make it to the next round. Jade rolls her eyes and mumbles something incoherent as she flips off Trick who makes a smart comment as she moves back by his side, taking her wine cooler from him.
Bayley comes near Solana who sits on Romanâs lap after having been eliminated in the last round. Of course, Roman opted to not participate, much rather keeping his eyes and focus on Jeyâs kids who were also eliminated earlier on.
Especially a smiling Jayla as she sits there counting a surprising amount of money for a young child.
Huh.Â
Solana wonders where she got it from.
Bayley shakes her head, downing some more of her coca cola. Like Solana, sheâs remained sober thus far. âShit is hard.â
âNot really,â Roman comments without much consideration as he takes a sip of his beer. Solana doesnât know what to make of the fact that the stressors of the party thus far have driven her husband to drink. Her husband who rarely ever drinks.
Sheâs most definitely going to have to make this up to him, though she has a good mind that heâs well ahead of her with that.
Bayley scoffs. âWhatever, Reigns.â
Solana subtly moves her hand on top of Romanâs free hand thatâs placed on her stomach, his arm wrapped almost protectively around her.
She starts to lean into his strong chest but ultimately decides against it, mindful of the image. Cognizant of the fact that their current position simply looks like the possessive Tribal Chief making known what belongs to him. A necessity given not everyone present is privy to the fact the marriage between the two of them is so much more than a business transaction, an arrangement common to their world.
Itâs real.
As real as their feelings and love for each other.Â
âRed light!â Sami calls out. As a self proclaimed âmaster strategist,â he was easily voted as the one to judge who does and does not make it to the next round. He starts listing off the names of people who moved afterwards. Two of Soloâs sons, Cam, Montez, Carmelo, and Jey.
The almost drunk latter of which is not pleased by.Â
At all.
Jey sucks his teeth. âWhatchuâ mean Iâm out?â Deep scowl on his face, he argues. âI didnât even move.â
A group of disagreement sounds, including Roman who says so matter-of-factly, âyou moved, Jey.â
âUce, listen, itâs all good. Maybe in the next gameââ
âI said I didnât move!â Jey snaps, cutting off Samiâs attempt at normalizing his elimination. âNow, letâs keep going.â
Sami walks over and almost nervously runs his hand through his unruly hair. âJey, man, youâyou got eliminatedââ
âImma eliminate your ass if you donât get the fuck away from me!â Jeyâs growing aggressiveness seems to capture the focus of the attendees, current and former players alike. âI donât know why youâre even here!â
Samiâs eyes go wide as he gestures to himself. âMe? Iââ He points toward Solana who has a small frown on her face, seeing where this is headed. âSosoââ
Thatâs clearly the wrong thing to say, a visibly inebriated Jey snapping yet again, âaye, you donât call her that! She not your family, motherfucker!.â
Jimmy rolls his eyes, calling out as he prepares yet another plate of food. âFool, would you calm your ass down.â
âNaw, cause Iâm sick of this shit. Sick of him acting like he one of us!â
âHey, Iâm just as much Bloodline as you, Uce!â
Jey shoves Sami, forcing the other man to the ground. âCall me that one more time, and Imma lay your homeless looking ass out!â
Romanâs heavy sigh comes from underneath Solana as he lightly taps her stomach, prompting her to get up so he can stand. She does so, watching him roll his big shoulders and walk over to the now arguing men, deep voice declaring, âenough!â
At that, not a single watchful eye isnât on Roman. The Tribal Chief. âIâm sick of this shit with the both of yaâll. You want to act like kids? Then Iâm gonâ treat you like kids.â Solana swallows. Everything about her husband is so commanding and powerful. From the way he stands, to the way he speaks, even his presence. One knows who he is without even needing to really know who he is. âI donât believe in airing shit out in public. I believe in handling it like men or in the ring, but since you two canât seem to do that, I want you to lay it all out because I want this problem fixed. Right now.â Roman ends his speech with an almost growl, the Wise Man rushing over as Roman turns away, his back toward Jey and Sami, head down, hands clasped together.
Power.
A wide eyed Paul looks between the other men, âtheâthe Tribal Chief saidââ
âOf course,â Sami cuts him off, standing again and looking down a bit as he seems to struggle with how to start. âWell, uhh, okay, umm.â Solana briefly surveys the backyard. From the youngest to the oldest, all eyes are on the scene before her. âIâll be the first to admit, thereâs been a bit of a communication breakdown as of late, and itâs been pretty specifically with Jey, but I gotta be honest, I donât understand exactly whatâs going on here.â Solana neither. She just suddenly remembers it was Jey and Sami who got into it during WarGames all those months ago and still havenât seemed to hash it out. âIâI like you. Man, I like you. Iâve always liked you. But, it seems ever since I joined the Bloodline, I donât know what it is, but it seems you canât seem to stand me, and I donât understand it.â He motions to Jimmy whoâs eating. âJimmy seems fine.â He points out to each man that he begins to list. âSolo seems fine. The Tribal Chief seems fine. The Wise Man seemsâŚ.not fine, but thatâs okay. Everyone, for the most part, seems fine except you, and I donât know what I did to offend you. I really donât. But, whatever I did to offend you, but whatever it is, Iâm sorry, okay? Iâm sorry.â He shakes his head. âI just donât want this to keep going on like this anymore.â He steps closer to Jey. âSeriously, Iâm sorry. Whatever I did. Iâm sorry. So, can we just be cool? Can we bury the hatchet once and for all?â Sami now has his hand extended to Jey. A peace offering, of sorts.
Solana finds herself waiting with a withheld breath, Bayley beside her, watching just as keenly as she is.Â
Itâs a good minute before Jey speaks. âSami, you got about two seconds to get that out my face.â Thereâs a chorus of hushed reactions around the yard, Solana sighing heavily. So much for peace. âI donât like you.â That much, to anyone with good eyes, is painfully obvious. âI donât like your hair. I donât like your face. I donât like that shirt you wearing.â Solana can admit she found the black shirt with âthe honorary uceâ written in red letters a bitâŚ.much. âHey, hey! I donât like you being around my family every single week. My dawg this, My dawg that.â Jey mocks, anger rising in his tone and body language. âHow you think you part of the Bloodline, and you ainât blood!â Solana swallows, redirecting her attention to Roman who has his eyes closed. She can see it. His own wrath growing at his clear directions not being followed. This problem is far from moving in the direction of fixing. âNewsflash for you, Sami. You never will be, Uce. You donât belong here.â Solana looks back over at Sami, feeling bad for him. To be talked to like this in front of everyone has to be embarrassing. It also makes her feel personally responsible, to some extent.
She maybe shouldnât have invited him. Especially if she knew how tense things were between him and Jey.
âDonât nobody in this group like you. Iâm just the realest one to say it out loud. Youâs a fake ass, Uce.â Damn. âYou know what the difference between you and me is? I shed blood for every single one of my family members here, because itâs my family! Not yours!â Silence. âWould you do it? Huh? Would you? Iâm asking you a question! Would youââ
âWhy are you yelling at me, huh?â Sami finally cuts in, raising his voice a little as well. âWhy are you yelling at me? Iâm trying to make peace!â Heâs outright shouting at this point, face turning red from his own escalating anger. He then points to Roman. âThe Tribal Chief said he wants peace!â
âMan, I donât give a damn what the Tribal Chief say!â
Solana canât look at Roman fast enough. Her eyes widening in alarm as his head shoots up, his expression something both shocked and cold. Solana doesnât rip her gaze from him, seeing how he slowly turns his head and then his body in the direction of Jey, who doesnât look nearly as terrified as everyone else seems right now.
Sheâs almost certain she hears Montez mumble something about, âoh, that nigga dead now for sure.â Trick murmuring back, "rip to the homie. yeet for life."
Romanâs fury is palpable, felt and stretched across the spacious backyard. Heâ livid. Naturally, she moves to go by him, to try to calm him down. Irritation is one thing, like his annoyance with the party. But, this is something different. Deeper. Heavier.
She doesnât like seeing him this upset. It worries her for his blood pressure.
However, Bayley suddenly reaches for her, stopping her, subtly shaking her head. Solana starts to pull away when it hits her.
She canât interfere.Â
Because if Roman were to back or even calm down because of her, it would reveal the influence she has on him. It would expose some depth of his feelings for her, and that canât happen. For a variety of reasons. So, she remains where she is, despite the coiling in her stomach.
She lets the Tribal Chief do what needs to be done.
Sami, surprisingly, is the one to try to interfere as Roman steps closer and closer to Jey, big shoulders squaring, fist forming at his side. âHey, uhh, My Tribal Chief, Jey didnâtâhe didnât mean that. He justââ Sami is silenced by Roman shoving him nearly across the damn yard, the man tumbling to his bottom looking even more flustered.
But, the focus isnât on him for long, because before Solana can even process whatâs happening, Roman is on Jey. Tackled to the ground, Jey is suddenly under the onslaught of Romanâs heavy fist raining blow on top of blow onto him.Â
Solana is momentarily taken off guard, briefly in a state of shock, both at whatâs unfolding before her but also the lack of anyone trying to intervene. Even Jimmy. Even Jeyâs kids who Naomi tries to herd and steer from seeing their father being so brutally beaten.
She doesnât know how to feel, what to think, or how to respond. A part of her wants to call out for her husband, try to pull him from his fit of rage, but itâs when she thinks about it, really thinks about, she knows she canât.Â
She could, but it would only make things worse.
Solana hates this for Jey, hates this for her husband, hates this for both of them.
ButâŚâŚshe also knows that Jey messed up. Really messed up. To say something so disrespectful is one thing, but to say it so loudly and boldly in front of a group of people is an entirely different ballpark.
Jey publicly disrespected Roman. Disrespected his Tribal Chief in front of people, thus Roman has to address it properly.
And violently.
Jeyâs coughing up blood as Roman stomps on his ribs. She has to turn her head, to look away. This is the side of Roman she knows exists but would rather never see. The same way she knows he would prefer she never see either.
âAcknowledge me!â His furious voice travels through the yard and penetrates everyoneâs five senses. It also makes Solana realize heâs been saying as such for the past few minutes. Demanding it. âNow!â
Jey is beaten pretty badly, blood spilling from his nose and seeped in between his teeth as he opens his mouth. Itâs an ugly thing. All of it. And Solana notices the slight snarl of his lip before he forces out, âIâI acknowledge youââ he coughs up a mixture of phlegm and blood. âMy Tribal Chief.â
Romanâs heaving, hulking figure straightens, his hair now down, having come out of his bun. The next thing to come out of his mouth sending chills down her spine. âIf you ever disrespect me like that again, Iâll kill you.â
Solana doesnât want to believe heâs being honest. That heâs telling the truth. Sheâd prefer to believe that heâs putting on a show of sorts, because he has to. Because he has to show his dominance. But, thereâs a part of her that knows heâs not lying.
He means that.
Roman doesnât look her way as he announces to the crowd, âpartyâs over!â She wants to be surprised at that, but sheâs not. Maybe a bit disappointed. But, not surprised. âEveryone get the hell out of my house!â
He keeps his focus on the house and motions for the Wise Man to follow him as he stomps out, again without sparing her a single look.
Roman only needs to speak once, Solana seeing the people starting to throw their trash away as they clearly prepare to depart.
âThis is my fault,â Solana finally speaks, turning to Bayley. Shaking her head, eyes watering, she shares, âI should have neverââ
âSolana, it wasnât your fault.â Bayley places her hands on Solanaâs shoulders, explaining. âJeyâŚ.Jey should have known better than to say some dumb shit like that. I thought they were past all that.â
At that, Solana frowns, catching out the corner of her eye as Naomi and Jimmy tend to Jey. âWhat do you mean?â
âYears ago, like when they were in their twenties, Jey and Roman hit some sort of rough patch. I donât know all the details, just what Naomi told me. But, I guess Jey was being difficult and almost testing Roman, in private and in front of other Bloodline members. It got to the point where Jey even challenged Roman for the title as Tribal Chief.â
Solana gasps. Thatâs the last thing she expected to hear. Even more surprising than the brutal beatdown she just witnessed. âWhat?â
Bayley nodded. âIt was an in-ring fight, something to do with their Samoan traditions. Obviously, Roman won, and Jey officially acknowledged him. Theyâve been fine since then, so I donât know where that came from or what inspired it, probably the alcohol, butâŚ.just know it wasnât your fault, and Iâm sure Roman hated he had to do that in front of you, but he couldnât just let Jey disrespect him like that.â And then, clearly wanting Solana to understand that Jey actually got off easy, she adds, âif he wasnât family, Roman would have killed him. He wouldnât have had a choice.â
And if that was the alternative, Solana is filled with an overwhelming amount of appreciation for what just transpired.
The lesser of two evils.Â
âThis was exciting!â Abuelitaâs enthusiastic tone sounds from beside them, Solana seeing her accompanied by Juanita and Bernardo. âThat husband of yours is a beast.â Itâs said in an almost complimentary tone.
Bayley rolls her eyes. âAbuelita, please.â She shakes her head, asking Solana, âdo you want me to stay behind and help you clean up?â
She thinks about it for a moment, remembering that Roman already arranged to have a cleaning crew handle outside. Inside is relatively easy to tackle. Definitely something she can handle on her own. âNo. Thatâs okayâŚ..Iâve got it.â
Bayley nods and reminds Solana to call her if she needs anything, the Tribal Chief's wife bidding farewell to some of the other attendees before briefly bringing her attention back to Jey.Â
Solana happens to catch Solo saying something to Jey, prompting the latter to shove his little brother. Jimmy jumps in, ushering Jey away while Solo smirks.Â
Sheâs curious about whatever it is that Solo said, but sheâs mostly focused on Jey. For someone who was objectively in the wrong, he doesnât look remorseful or contrite.
He looks angry.
ââââ
Itâs after everyone has left that Solana seeks out her husband. An intentional thing because she also wants to grant him some space to calm himself down.Â
Heâs in the bathroom, in the shower, based upon the sound of the running water.Â
A glance at Dulce whoâs sleeping peacefully in her bed, Solana hasnât the slightest clue what drives her to go for the hem of her dress as she pulls it up and over her head. It falls to the floor as she reaches behind her to unclasp her bra, also allowing it to fall to the floor. And finally, with a deep breath, she slides her underwear down her legs, letting them join the rest of her clothes.
Stepping out of her shoes, she moves in the direction of the bathroom door, completely ignoring all sudden insecurity regarding her nakedness. Solana closes her eyes and swallows as she carefully opens the door, walking in, eyes shifting to the shower.
As expected, heâs standing there under the running water, back toward her, hands braced against the wall, head dropped.
Solana frowns. She can practically feel his distress.
Closing the door behind her, Solana is intentional about her footsteps, doing her best not to catch his attention. Something thatâs highly unlikely but exactly what happens. Even as she steps into the spacious shower, water instantly drenching her just as much as it soaks him due to the several showerheads.
Sheâs nearly inches away when he turns around, harsh expression instantly melting into something of shock and confusion. Her lips go dry as his gaze briefly drops to her naked body, water droplets rolling off her heavy breast and down the slope of her pudgy belly.
âSolanaâŚ.â His eyes shut as she moves toward him. Her hands rest on his chest, as she chews on her bottom lip. âIâmâIâm sorry.â
âDonât,â she cuts him off, shaking her head as the water continues to soak her hair, weighing it down just as much as his. âYou donâtâitâs okay.â
Eyes opening, his expression is as pained as his voice. âI donât like you seeing that side of meâŚ.âÂ
She knows. Knows that heâs always tried to be mindful of his temper around her, tried to always and only show her the caring side reserved just for her. But, thatâs just it. âThereâs no side of you that I donât love, Roman.â
Because itâs the truth.Â
Because if thereâs one thing that Solana has learned, especially after meeting and speaking with Fetu, itâs that Roman never stood a chance. From a young child, he was groomed and tailored into the killer he is now. He wasnât given the space and freedom to ever be anything but the best and to be unfeeling. Sheâs happy that with her, he has some escape, but she also knows that majority of the time, he canât be that.
He has to be the Head of the Table.
And thatâs exactly who he was in this situation.
Who he had to be.
The Tribal Chief.
âIâm not scared of you, RomanâŚâ She murmurs, wondering if thatâs part of the concern. She moves her hands to his cheek, stressing, âI could never be scared of you.âÂ
He seems relieved by that. But, still torn. Solanaâs stomach coils a bit as he moves his hands to her waist and pulls her against him. Her eyes shut feeling his impressive length, even in a flaccid state, against her stomach.Â
It gives her an idea.
Dropping one hand and venturing it down his chiseled, wet body, Solana shoves away her nerves as she touches him, wraps her fingers around him as best she can given his girth.
Roman hisses, eyes closing again. âSolanaâŚ.â
Heâs so good to her, always so good to her. She just wants to return the favor. Wants to take away some of his burdens the same way he never hesitates to take away hers.
Gradually sliding her hand down his dick, feeling his grip on her hips tighteningâas well as the hardening in her handâshe licks her lips and murmurs a simple request.Â
âShow me how to please youâŚâŚâ
ââââ
After their lovemaking in the shower, Solana manages to encourage Roman to take a nap, recognizing his exhaustion from the dayâs events. Something he only agrees to because she agrees to nap with him. Not that much of a sacrifice considering sheâs probably just as exhausted as him.
And itâs clearly much needed sleep for her husband who doesnât even stir when she moves to take Dulce outside to pee.
It just so happens that Solana is about to ascend the staircase, Dulce ahead of her and already heading back to the room courtesy of Jimmy teaching her how to go up and down the steps, that she hears the doorbell. She pauses on the first step, quickly and mentally going over who could be ringing their doorbell at almost 10pm at night.
She starts to ignore it, not sure if itâs a good idea to open it, but Solana also remembers the gate. The secured gate as well as security that constantly patrols the premises. No one who Roman wouldnât want getting past, for safety reasons, would be ringing their doorbell.Â
Especially this late.
Itâs why she eventually settles on closing her up the front of her robe and walking over to the door, opening it. And when she does, sheâs instantly wondering if it was a good idea. Two men. Both tall. Very tall. Built. One moderately more built than the other. Both their complexions are tanned, but the man with the bald head wearing expensive looking glasses and half a sleeve that peeks through his short sleeve polo is a brick.Â
Solana has always thought Roman to be muscular, but this man could give her husband a run for his money.
Itâs the other man though, long hair pulled back in a slightly messy bun. Similar to how Roman keeps his hair. Itâs as he lifts his sunglasses from off his face and sets it atop of his head that she sees something so familiar.Â
Eerily familiar.Â
âHi.â She finally finds her voice, clearing her throat as she asks, âcan I help you with something?â
âWeâre looking for Roman.â The familiar looking one speaks with a slightly thick accent as he asks with a small smirk. âIs he home?â
Solanaâs not sure where it comes from, but something almost protective fills her as her grip on the door tightens just a bit. âWhatâwhat do you want with my husband?â
The slightly taller one smiles âSolana.â He lazily rakes his eyes over her in a way thatâs not objectively problematic but makes her shift her weight from one leg to the other. âOf course.â Sheâs not sure how to feel about him knowing who she is, but itâs a short lived concern, because not even a full minute later, a welcome familiarity appears.
âSol.â Romanâs deep voice calls her attention, startling her. She turns around to see him only a few steps above the ground, shirtless, wearing only dark joggers. Slowly, he steps down to the floor and she naturally moves beside him. Solana holds onto his arm as he focuses his attention on the two men. His face shifts into something of surprise. âWhat the hell are you two doing here?â
The one who identified her by name chuckles. âGood to see you too, cousin.â
Solana frowns.Â
Cousin?
âSolana.â He looks down for a second, gesturing to the other two. âThese are myâŚ.my cousins. Dwayne and Matteo.â
Thereâs a brief look of something in Matteoâs face, something thatâs pushed away as he offers an almost charismatic smile. âItâs a pleasure to meet you, Solana.â His eyes twinkle almost as he asks. âSolanaâŚ.thatâs Spanish, right? Sunshine?â
Her smile is a bit less reluctant to appear. He seems soâŚ..pleasant. âIt is. Do you speak it?â
âI do. One of the languages I picked up in my younger years. A beautiful language.â
Sheâs taken back by him speaking to her in Spanish but naturally, she responds in the same language. âYes, it is. You speak it well.â
âWell, thank you. I take it you are native?â
She nods. âMy mom was Mexican. She taught me.â
âWhat the fuck are you saying to her?â Roman cuts in, irritation present in his deep voice. âSpeak English.â She keeps herself from rolling her eyes. A playful thing in intention but something that could be perceived as disrespectful, sheâs certain. âAnswer my question. What are you doing here?â
Solana is also partially curious what could have apparent cousins at their front door at such an hour. Something tells her itâs nothing good.
âWe need to talk.â Dwayne answers, smile wiped from his face, tone solid and firm.
Solana looks up when she feels Roman tap her hip. Voice dipping a bit in volume, he instructs, âgo upstairs.â
Sheâs not sure why, but thereâs a level of anxiety that forms following his instruction. It makes sense. He clearly needs to talk business, and thatâs something she doesnât need to be present for. But, thereâs something about leaving him alone with these two random men that makes her feel scared.
Scared for him.
She doesnât want to leave him.
Roman must recognize this, thumb gently and subtly moving over her hip. âGo.â Itâs firmer this time around, but she hears it. Hears the unspoken please in it.
Nodding, she offers Dwayne and Matteo a small smile. âItâit was nice meeting you.â
âOh, Iâm sure it wonât be the last time,â Matteo answers, eyes briefly flicking to Roman. âWe are family, after all.â
Solana sees the slight snarl of Romanâs lip and almost palms his cheek, a comforting gesture when she remembers where they are and who theyâre in front of. Clearing her throat, she instead takes heed to his guidance, moving up the steps and into their bedroom where she closes the door.
Solana is barely out of the line of vision when Dwayne, who had his eyes glued on her retreating figure, the switch of her hips and sway of her ass the entire time, comments to Roman, âI see why you havenât come yet.â He smirks, heading in the direction of Romanâs office. âAt least not to Italy.â
Roman gives a chuckling Matteo a look that could kill, if possible, walking without another word to his office where Dwayne already sits, plopped on the sofa.
âWhat happened?â Is the first thing Roman asks after sitting down at his desk. Because Dwayne wouldnât have come all this damn way for something that could be covered in a phone or video call.
Matteo smirks. âMaybe he missed home.âÂ
Roman glares. Itâs bad enough he has to be around him at his official office but now the fucker is in his home too. Today has just been a complete shitshow. âAnd maybe I should put a fucking bullet in your head.â
Dwayne sighs. âBrothers.â But, before Roman can spear him through the nearest wall, Dwayne gets to business. âWe have a problem.â
âObviously,â Roman hisses. âWhat is the problem is is what I want to know.â
âWe had a shipment infiltrated. Stolen. 7 figures worth of arms. Eight men killed,â Matteo explains, cutting right to the chase as he sits in the chair opposite Romanâs desk. âIT found a phone on the scene. Russian.â
âThe Russians?â At that, Roman scowls. âThat doesnât even make any sense. Our alliance with them has been strong for almost twenty years. Why would Knyazev risk that?â
Anatoly Knyazev. Leader of the Russian mob, the same man Roman secured and formed an alliance with as one of his first accomplishments as Capo. The older man is smart, seasoned, and practical, for all things considered. He rules ruthlessly but wisely. For them to interfere in Cosa Nostra business makes no sense whatsoever.Â
âI agree,â Matteo voices. âBut, the administration isnât happy. The loss of product is one thing, but our menâs blood being spilled is another thing entirely.â
Roman curses quietly. Product can be replaced. Lives canât. And while Roman feels nothing of the sort, the Administration views any and all members of the Cosa Nostra as family. From the little man to their top assassins. Loss of life is something they donât stand for.
At all.
âThey want vengeance,â Dwayne supplies, clearly reading Romanâs mind.Â
âTheyâre not going to do shit,â Roman growls, slamming his fist on the table. âThe last thing we need is a war with our biggest ally.â
Especially with very little proof outside of a damn phone that very well could have been staged, which is exactly what Roman is betting on.Â
âI agree,â Dwayne sounds, âbut guess whoâs going around trying to instigate?âÂ
Roman doesnât even have to think. âLuca.â This fucker has always been annoying, even in the few interactions Roman had with him, but now heâs older and even more annoying. Starting shit that Roman is going to have to deal with, and if thereâs one thing Roman hates, itâs having to clean up other peopleâs messes.Â
Matteo nods, leaning forward in his chair. âI told you. He wants you out. Bad. Personally, I think he was behind it.â Romanâs intrigue must show, his desire to hear more, proven by his continued silence. The other man explains. âYou were right in that the business is the best itâs ever been under your command, but if he can change that, can make it seem like weâre starting to fall off the top of the food chain. Make it seem like you donât care about the Cosa Nostraââ
âHe can make a case to uproot me,â Roman finishes in a dark tone.Â
âOr worse,â Dwayne adds, shaking his head. âLook, Roman. Itâs obvious thereâs some shit going on that we havenât figured out, but until then, we have to be careful. Matteo and I are the only ones who seem to find the Russians deciding to start shit after years of partnership fishy. And to be honest, we need to keep it that way. Keep our speculation between us, because we donât know who we can trust. Especially with Lucaâs ass in the background scheming.â Dwayne leans back in his seat. âThe Administration wants a briefing though. Wants to know how we proceed. If we strike back. And theyâre not going to want to hear shit from the mixed breeds. At least not Matteo and I.â
Roman looks away, already knowing whatâs coming.
âYou need to go there. Make a statement. Not a phone call or video conference. In person. Make your orders clear. Reaffirm and remind them that youâre the Capo.â Matteo isnât saying anything Roman doesnât already know. Not that makes hearing it any better. âYou canât push this off anymore, Roman.â
âHeâs right,â Dwayne agrees. âThe longer you wait, the more it looks like your priorities are for the Bloodline only. That youâre only capable of running one, meaning itâs time for new leadership.â
His words drip with a truth that only has Romanâs anger rising. âUnfortunately, because itâs clear thereâs an uprising brewing, you coming now puts you at higher risk for an assassination attempt. Youâll have to travel covertly. Iâll take care of that. I just need you to get on the damn plane.â
None of that is surprising as Roman provides his timeline. âTwo weeks.â Both Matteo and Dwayne seemed far from pleased at this. Oh fucking well. âI have Bloodline business to handle next week. I can leave the week after.â
Itâs not a lie. Jeyâs little stunt will require a more public display of dominance, and what better way to remind everyone of who runs things than a public execution?
Itâs time to grant Drew MCIntyre that match heâs been so desperate to have. Roman having his Wise Man make the arrangements earlier following Jeyâs outburst. Â
âFine. Two weeks,â Matteo relents. As if he had a choice. âYouâll need to stick around at least a week. Or two. A day or two appearance will give off the indication youâre uninterested and being performative.â Again, not something Roman doesnât already know, but again again, thereâs an issue. A huge issue.
Solana.
Itâs only been two weeks since she completed treatment and returned home from the residential facility. But, in those two weeks sheâs expressed on several occasions the best thing about being back home is being with him.
With Roman.
And now he has to leave her. Has to handle business. Dangerous business. A situation that could very well end up in some type of attempt on his life.
That doesnât bother him. Romanâs been attacked and the subject of assassination attempts his whole damn life. Itâs almost boring to him at this point.
What does bother him, however, is Solana knowing about this. Knowing the real reason why he has to fly halfway across the world seemingly out of nowhere.Â
Which is why she canât know.
He canât and wonât put that on her. She already worries about him. If she knew the real reason for the trip, sheâd be terrified and beg him to not go. And not going simply isnât an option anymore. Heâs almost wishing he had just gone before.Â
It might have been a hell of a lot easier leaving her then compared to now when thereâs so much more at stake.
Fuck.
âThis conversation needs to remain between the three of us. No one else.â Matteoâs reminder irks Roman. Heâs not fucking stupid.
Dwayne senses Roman is about to say some out of pocket shit, cutting in, âMatteo. You said you may have some contacts to further investigate what really happened with the shipment, right? Reach out. See what you can find.â
Matteo nods, smirk on his handsome face. âAlready on it.âÂ
Dwayne mirrors his expression. âGood.â He then gestures to Roman. âLet me talk to this asshole alone, please.â
Matteo scoffs quietly, standing up and adjusting his collar. âMy pleasure.â He shoots his younger, half brother a wry grin. âYour wife is much better company than you.â
Roman shoots up from his desk, wanting to pitch something after Matteoâs laughing, retreating form.
âI like that guy,â Dwayne also laughs, lifting his hands in a surrender motion when Roman directs his murderous gaze to him. âStill a sensitive subject, I see.â
Roman plops back down in his chair, looking off as he asks his cousin, âyou trust him?â
Dwayneâs answer is almost an instantaneous thing. âWouldnât have sent him here or brought him to your house if I didnât.â Itâs similar to his response when Roman first inquired about Matteo being sent as the âspyâ for the Cosa Nostra. âWeâre gonna have to play this careful, Roman. I canât describe it yet, but I got a feeling some shit is about to go down.â
Roman doesn't say anything, but that doesnât mean heâs not listening. Not planning. Strategizing.Â
âSolanaâŚ.â The change in subject takes him a bit by surprise. âHow she doing?â
Discussing certain details regarding Solana and her mental health is something few are privy to. Roman can count on one, maybe two hands who knew Solana has been away receiving mental health treatment. To most, she was hurt and shot that night at the lounge and has been away recovering. Thatâs the story Roman wanted put out in an effort to protect her privacy.
But, Dwayne is one of those few who knows the truth about where sheâs been.
And why she was there.
âBetter.â A part of him wants to say much better, because she seems that way, but he also doesnât want to get too comfortable. To let his guard down. âShe said it helped a lot. Medication seems to be making a difference too.â
âGood. She seems sweet.â
âShe is.â The kindest person Roman has ever met. Much too kind for someone like him.
Dwayne sits back in his seat, wolfish grin on his face. âThatâs a fine woman you got there, brotha.â And just like that, Romanâs older cousin is teetering the thin line between life and death. âNot sure Iâd want to leave her either.â Brows furrowed, Dwayne asks, âwhatâs the Bloodline business?â
Roman quickly catches his cousin up on todayâs events. Jeyâs disrespect, mostly.Â
Dwayneâs response, however, is another thing Roman wasnât entirely expecting. âYou did what you had to do. Jey knows how this goes. He brought it on himself.â
Thereâs not a ton of disagreement there. Doesnât make him feel much better about it though.
âWell,â Dwayne releases a heavy sigh, standing up after slapping his thighs. âI better get out of here. That son of a bitch Austin owes me a beer.â
Roman chuckles. âJust one?â
Dwayneâs smile is as mischievous as whatever he has planned once walking out that door. âOr two.â
A smile breaks on Romanâs face as he stands up, sharing a brief hug with his cousin. He has a strong feeling the next time he sees him will be on Italian soil. âBe safe.â
âIâm not the one with a bounty over my head, brotha.â Itâs both comical and serious at the same time, in only the way Dwayne can achieve. âTell that fine ass wife of yours I said goodnight.â
At that, Roman cuts his eyes, shoving his chuckling cousin away. âShut the fuck up.â
Giving himself a few minutes to settle and push away any sign of stress or frustration, itâs not until about ten minutes later that he returns to the bedroom.
Roman is unsurprised to find Solana sitting on the middle of the bed, earbuds in, writing away in her journal. However, sheâs almost immediately aware of his presence, ripping out those same buds and shutting her notebook. Sheâs instantly climbing off the bed and walking over to him.
âAre you okay?â Her hands ghost over his arms, as if sheâs trying to feel for some sort of injury. âWhat was that about?â
He shrugs. âJust business stuff.â Not a lie. Just a very vague answer.
âThis late?â Truth be told, the work never stops in this life, but he knows thatâs not exactly what sheâs referring to. âItâsâitâs something bad, isnât it?â
âNo.â The answerâa lieâcomes out much easier and smoother than heâd like it to. âJust something that needs to be handled, and Iâll handle it.â
 âButââ
âHey.â He brings his hands to her waist, sneaking them past the open robe she wears, partially wanting to take it off her entirely. The two piece pajamas she has on deserve to be seen and not cloaked in any way. âEverythingâs okay. Alright?â
She still looks concerned, and he hates that. Hates all of this. The lying to her, especially. âYou wouldâŚ.you would tell me if it wasnâtâŚ.right?â
No.
Thatâs what he wants to say. The truth. Roman would and will absolutely keep anything and everything from her if it meant/means keeping her safe. Even if it makes her upset with him. Heâll deal with that.
Heâll take it any day, because her safety is the most important thing to him.Â
Mentally and physically.Â
âYes.â Even if it makes him have an almost visceral reaction at having to lie to her like this. Even if it is for the better. âBut nothingâs wrong, so thereâs no need to worry, alright?âÂ
He needs to tell her about the trip. That he has to leave in two weeks. Thereâs definitely no way around that, but it doesnât need to happen tonight. Especially when he needs to work out the details and logistics, because Romanâs been administering Solanaâs medication to her every morning since her release. She doesnât even know where he keeps it, where he keeps any of the prescription and OTC pills in the house. Because he has them all hidden, something heâs not sure heâll ever feel ready enough to change.
He also takes her to her continued weekly therapy appointments with Gail.
All of that canât be interrupted with his absence, but the same person he called before to stay with her while he was gone to see his aunt is the same person he still holds partially responsible for Solanaâs attempt in the first place.
Bayley.
Roman wonât make that mistake ever again.
So, until all of that is figured out, heâll say nothing.
Plus, he already feels bad enough for ruining her party. No need to ruin her night as well.
At least with the party thing, he can make that up. He will make that up. Even if it means what he has planned including more people than he originally accounted for. The thought alone is far from exciting, but heâs determined to do right by her this time around.
Even if it does mean forcing himself to behave.
Somewhat.
Solana is visibly less anxious, but the remaining apprehension seems to melt away the minute she presses herself into his chest. Sheâs instantly relaxed and so is he. Having her in his arms seems to give him just as much comfort as she gets from it.
âRoman?â
He runs his hand across her back. âHmm?â
Peering up at him is a mixture of skepticism and worry. âAre you sure youâre okay?â Not exactly. âYou said youâd try talking to me more.â
He did. And he will, but the full extent of what is now on his plate is a weight he canât and wonât share with her. He wonât burden her with his woes.Â
He can, however, give her something.
âJeyâŚ..â Because thatâs most definitely not a lie. The shit with Jey was the last thing he expected to happen today. Almost as unexpected as Dwayneâs visit. âThe twins annoy me majority of the time, but theyâre stillâŚ.still my family.â
âYou didnât want to do that, Roman.â Solana is suddenly comforting him, her soft voice offering what he already knows to be true but appreciates hearing. âYouâŚâŚyou didnât have a choice. JeyâŚ.Jey should understand, right?â
âShould.â Thereâs a conflicted hint to his voice, because Jey should have known better than to disrespect Roman like that in front of an audience. Because truth be told, Roman would not have responded so violently had it even just been the usual group of Naomi, Bayley, and Jimmy. Even the Wise Man. Roman would have preferred a different, less physical route, but that wasnât an option. The âchoiceâ Roman made was really the only choice he could make without looking weak in front of others.
Solana hugs him a little tighter, continuing to put him on a pedestal he has no business being on. âYouâre a good man, Roman. I knowâŚ.I know you donât believe it, but you are.âÂ
Thatâs because she has no idea a fraction of the things that heâs done. If she truly knew the horrors heâs committed over the years, the lives heâs taken, sheâd never look at him the same.
He sometimes wonders if sheâd even still feel the same way.
If sheâd still love him.
Solana leans up and kisses his cheek before taking his hand in hers. Sliding her robe off and tossing it onto the bed, she murmurs, âletâs go to bed.â Roman wordlessly follows her over to the California King bed, watching her move her journal and case for her earbuds onto the nightstand as she pulls him down with her. Naturally, Solana falls into their go-to sleeping position. Her body nearly on top of his, her arm sprawled across his abdomen and her head on his chest.
Sheâs partially soothed by the way he keeps his hand planted on the small of her back. Partially because something tells her Roman isnât being entirely honest about whatever conversation he had with his cousins sheâs never even heard of until this evening. In all the time theyâve been together, she doesnât remember once anyone ever coming to their home this late to discuss business.Â
Maybe a phone call.
Never an in-person visit.Â
A part of her wants to push him on it, but she also knows the Jey situation is still bothering him, so she doesnât want to overwhelm him.Â
But, the other part, maybe an even bigger part doesnât want to because it feels hypocritical. Him to be honest with her when sheâs not being entirely honest with him. When she actually wanted to tell him something instead of asking again if heâs alright.
A split second decision being made to keep certain information to herself until sheâs 100% sure, because she knows that heâll most likely have to inform the Elders heâs spoken about a couple of times. And the last thing she wants is to send him with a message that ends up being a false alarm.
Because her period has been late before. Sometimes up to two weeks late. Itâs just that this is the first time itâs been late with her being sexually active. With her having regular sex with her husband as a potential variable. Regular, unprotected sex.
But again, sheâs not certain. Wants to give it a little while longer before she finally pulls out one of the pregnancy tests sheâs had collecting dust in one of the cabinets in their master bathroom. Itâs too soon though. Too many other things it could be besides that.
So, until then, she waits.
Sheâll wait until itâs 100% confirmed, without a doubt, that sheâs pregnant.
Ignoring that small, nagging gut feeling that she already knows the answer.
Knows that she is, without a doubt, pregnant.

Act I: I loved you from the start.
[SCENE: ENGAGEMENT PARTY, 6 PM]
A gentle pink cascades across the sky. You exit the restaurant, the excitement of the engagement party seeping out of you as soon as the door shuts. One of your college friends, Chaeyoung, is finally engaged to her high school sweetheart. You remember receiving the news from Chaeyoung over the phone. She sounded ecstatic, and so were you.Â
A gentle breeze blows through the air and it pushes your hair back softly. You swing your black handbag and hum the rhythm of a song you canât quite remember under your breath. You pass by a convenience store and you double back deciding to enter the store.Â
Greeting the worker, you rummage through the selves and find snacks for yourself and your roommates. Home run balls, corn chips, and tiramisu. You pick out a bag of tiny animal-shaped cookies for yourself. After buying the four items, you exit the store and continue your journey back home.
With a heavy exhale, you unlock the door to your apartment and with one hand gripping the doorknob, you begin to undo the straps of your heels, hobbling into the apartment. Loud sounds of sobbing and sniffling fill the apartment, and after finally sliding off your heels, you glance up at the scene in front of you.Â
Sitting on the sofa and watching the end of the Titanic were your roommates. A pile of tissues sat in the center of the coffee table, and bowls of discarded ramen lay on the floor. Jay was sobbing loudly into the bright pink pillow you picked out when you first moved in, Sunghoon was blowing his nose over and over, and Jake was hugging his dog, Layla, whom he somehow managed to sneak into the apartment when he first moved in.Â
âY/N!â Cries Jay, noticing you. âYouâre back!âÂ
Sunghoon blows his nose.Â
You hold up a small plastic bag. âI come bearing snacks.âÂ
Jay sobs harder. âYouâre the best girl friend weâve ever had.âÂ
You smile. âI better be.â You had out the snacks you bought for each boy; home run balls for Jake, tiramisu for Sunghoon, and corn chips for Jay. âAlso, didnât we ban Titanic from our apartment? Last time we watched it, you three didnât speak to each other for a week.âÂ
âWe did,â Sunghoon agrees easily.Â
â...So why are you watching it?â
âAsk Jake,â Sunghoon points at the boy still sobbing into Laylaâs fur.Â
âIâm fineâŚ.heâs obviously going through something.âÂ
âRosie!â Jake wails loudly.
âThatâs not even her name, Jake,â Jay scowls.Â
Jake responds with another loud sob. Rolling your eyes, you open up the bag of your animal-shaped cookies and walk through the living room to reach the kitchen. You throw your handbag on the counter, and then shriek loudly when you catch sight of another body in the kitchen.Â
âY/N?â Jay calls out, his voice not as shaky as it was before. âIs everything okay?â
You poke your head back into the living room and scowl at the three boys, and one girl -- Jake insists everyone references Layla as a âgirlâ and not a âdog.â As you can tell, Layla is the only girl in his life aside from you and Lily Morrow -- sitting on the couch. âWhy is he in our kitchen eating our food?âÂ
âThe couple he was rooting for on Love Island got voted off, or something like that, and he needed some Boy Time,â Sunghoon answers.
âAnd he came here? Instead of slipping into Jeonginâs room and getting stoned?â
âHe needed an emotional connection,â Jay says after wiping his snotty nose with your pink cushion.Â
âJeongin is a very emotional guy,â you refute. âHe is very in touch with his feelings, unlike the three boys I live with. And the one in the kitchen. I would like one of you to tell him he needs to leave.âÂ
âWhy canât you?!â Jake wails again. âWeâre all emotionally devastated at the moment!âÂ
Sunghoon and Jay nod, agreeing with Jakeâs words. You scowl. âLast time I talked to him I got a rash and a head cold. I canât get sick.âÂ
âYou work with kids who refuse to cough into their elbows. Of course you were going to get sick,â Jay rolls his eyes. âJust talk to him.âÂ
âNo!â You whine petulantly, resting against the doorframe. âPlease. Donât make me talk to him.âÂ
âI have a name, you know,â a gentle voice says from behind you, and you shriek, stumbling away from the doorframe and into the back of the couch. The gentle voice laughs loudly, and standing in the doorway to the kitchen, in all his glory, is Heeseung Lee. His silver hair somewhat shines beneath the orange-toned lighting, and his mouth curves up into that stupid heart smile of his.Â
âMonster!â You shriek, pointing at Heeseung, who is eating a donut from the box you brought home earlier today. âThereâs a monster in my apartment! Jay, quick, get him out!â You punch the apartmentâs self-proclaimed black cat in the arm, to which he hisses. No surprises there. He spends too much time aroundâŚ.do you dare say itâŚâŚJungwon.Â
Heeseung rolls his eyes. âYouâre so dramatic, Y/N.âÂ
âAnd you need to leave.âÂ
âAnd if I donât?â
âThen you need to buy me another box of those donuts youâre eating.âÂ
Heeseung looks down at the box he is holding and then looks back at you. He shrugs. âHow much was it?â
âSeventeen dollars.âÂ
Heeseung raises his eyebrows. âYou bought a box of donuts for seventeen dollars? Twelve donuts for seventeen dollars?âÂ
âWhatâs wrong with that?â You frown.Â
Heeseung sighs and finishes the last of the chocolate donut heâs eating before rubbing his now free hand against his forehead. âYou give me migraines.âÂ
âGood,â you respond. âNow get out.âÂ
Heeseung pouts, âdo you not care about me?â
You shake your head. âNo, not really.âÂ
âWeâve spent our whole lives together, and this is how you repay me?â
âGet out or so god help me,â you scowl. âI will choke you out again.âÂ
âAgain?â Sunghoon asks in surprise.Â
âYeah, Y/N choked Heeseung back in middle school,â Jay says as he scrolls through the illegal movie website for another movie to watch. âOoo, Shape Of Water sounds cool!âÂ
âA mute girl falls in love with a fish, Jay,â Jake responds. âI didnât know you were into bestiality.â He then holds Layla closer to him.
âWhoâs Chaeyoung engaged to?â Heeseung asks you, picking up another donut with pink icing and white sprinkles. âI got an invite from her, but it clashed with Love Island.âÂ
âYou are not changing the subject on me,â you snap. âAnd you can find out tomorrow. At school. Now get out of my apartment and stop eating my donuts. Why couldnât you have gotten stoned with Jeongin? Or played guitar with Beomgyu or -- or visited Jungwon.â You shudder at the thought of the younger boy.Â
Heeseung laughs. âYou still find Jungwon scary?â
âFor many reasons!â You defend. âHe thinks heâs a cat, he bit me once, and he threatened to hunt me down and kill me if I ever managed to hurt Jay.âÂ
âIs that why we never hang out one-on-one?â Jay asks you, now looking up the emoji movie on the illegal website.Â
âYes.â
âSounds like a you problem,â Sunghoon pipes up, helpful as ever.Â
âYeah,â Heeseung agrees with Sunghoonâs words. âItâs a skill issue. Maybe you need to level up --â
You whack Heeseung with the bright orange pillow Sunghoon picked out when you first moved into the apartment together. âI still donât understand why all those girls fawn over you. Even now! Youâre a fucking middle-school teacher yet girls still stick to your sides like leeches. What do they even see in you?! Do they know you used to pick your nose and wipe it on the nearest body to you, which always happened to be me? Do they know you scratched your balls and then ate all my McDonaldâs Chicken Nuggets once?âÂ
âWhat does me scratching my balls and eating your chicken nuggets have to do with anything?â
âYou didnât even bother to wash your hands after getting a good scratch!â You exclaim loudly, whacking Heeseung with the pillow again. âStop eating my fucking donuts!âÂ
Layla barks loudly and leaps off the couch, running for the bathroom. âShe needs to pee,â Jake announces, standing up, âI should go help her. You know, potty training and all that.âÂ
You groan and hold your head in your hands. âWhy did I decide to move in with Incel #1 Incel #2 and Incel #3?âÂ
âHey! I am not an incel!â Sunghoon exclaims. âI get laid!âÂ
âSure you do,â you respond, not believing a word Sunghoon just said. âExplain to me why Wonyoung said you chickened out last time things got steamy between you two?âÂ
âIncel means involuntarily celibate. Me choosing to not be intimate with Wonyoung doesnât count as involuntary because it was a conscious decision.âÂ
âUmm actuallyâŚâ Jay mimics in a high-pitched tone and pokes his index finger in the air. âYouâve been dating for like five years dude, thereâs no time like the present.â
âFine,â Sunghoon snaps. âIâll go over there right now and do the dirty.â Sunghoon snatches up his phone from the coffee table and immediately calls Wonyoung as he walks over to his bedroom. âWony, hey,â his voice suddenly adopts that adoring tone he uses whenever Wonyoung is around.
âFinally,â Jay mutters, âIâve had to listen to him complain about his performance fears for years. The world doesnât understand how hard it is for men -- oh my god I sound like Jake.âÂ
â....Iâm gonna head out now. While I wish I could stay and watch whatever is currently happening, Yunjin just sent me an SNS text.â Heeseung says.Â
You turn around to find that, somehow, Heeseung has eaten all twelve of your donuts, and at this point, you donât even care. Youâre too exhausted and confused and just concerned for the three boys you live with to even whine over Heeseung eating the only edible thing in this apartment. âSNS? What does that mean?â
âSister Needs Sister.âÂ
âWhat?â
âSNS means Sister Needs Sister.â
âSister Needs -- okay whatever Iâm not gonna question whatever weird thing you have going on with Yunjin. Just get the fuck out of my apartment.âÂ
âYes Maâam,â Heeseung tips his imaginary cowboy hat at you and finally exits the apartment. Your shoulders slump and you throw yourself over the back of the couch, landing awkwardly on your neck as Jay cackles loudly at something on his phone.Â
âI donât want to go to school tomorrow,â you whine. âI havenât even finished typing up Fridayâs lesson.âÂ
Jay ignores you, still cackling at something on his phone. Jake shrieks his dogâs name loudly in the bathroom and something falls over in Sunghoonâs room.
++
Itâs 6:30 AM when you enter your classroom. You have an hour until students begin to fill the school and while you always tell yourself that today will be the day you actually wake up early enough to get to school at 6:00 AM, it never happens and youâre left with an hour to get everything prepared for the lessons ahead.
Grumbling to yourself about having to let Layla into the bathroom to take a piss -- and then watch the dog miss the toilet bowl completely -- you ignore the box of donuts sitting on your desk. Itâs only when you finish recalling how you had to literally drag Jake out of bed to clean up Laylaâs mess do you realize thereâs a box of twelve donuts on your desk.Â
Frowning, you put down your coffee cup and examine the box. Itâs from the same bakery your previous donuts were from. A small card sits on top of the box and you open it.Â
Sorry
- Heeseung (:
Groaning, you chuck the small apology card aside and open up the box. Instantly, the aroma of freshly baked donuts fills the classroom and your mouth begins to water. You wonder how Heeseung was able to get the donuts freshly baked. The bakery doesnât even open until seven.Â
Pushing that thought aside, you grab a donut and get settled in your chair, beginning to finish the lesson prep you failed to complete last night.Â
Thirty minutes quickly pass by. The only distraction you had was your phone buzzing. Sunghoon needed to pee and when he stepped into the bathroom, he found Jake lying, face down, fast asleep. Right next to Laylaâs puddle of pee. Sunghoon, being the good friend he is, snapped a photo of Jake and sent it to the group chat before heading back to bed. He didnât even bother to move Jake back to bed.Â
âEnjoying the donuts?â
A voice draws you away from your laptop. Your rapid-fire typing stops and you glance over your shoulder, finding Heeseung standing at the entrance of your classroom. You gift Heeseung a small smile and lean back in your chair. âThank you for the donuts, Heeseung.âÂ
âDo you accept my apology?â Heeseung asks as he walks over to your desk.Â
âOf course,â you beam. âYou know the way to my heart, Heeseung. Want one?â You offer the box to Heeseung but he waves you off. âBy the way, how did you get these donuts freshly baked? The bakery doesnât open until seven.âÂ
Heeseung winks. âA magician never reveals his secrets.âÂ
You roll your eyes.Â
âChaeyoung and Seungmin, huh? Who even is Seungmin? I donât remember Chaeyoung ever dating a Seungmin?â Heeseung drums his fingers on your desk.Â
You snort. âSeriously? You donât remember Seungmin? He was in the year above you. Also in choir with you. Do you seriously not remember him? He thought he was a dog for the longest time so he often barked at people in the hallways.âÂ
Heeseungâs face lights up. âOh! Him! I threw his lunch in the toilet one time. Fond memories.âÂ
âWhy would you do that?!âÂ
Heeseung shrugs. âI was fourteen. We do weird things at fourteen.â
âBullying is not a weird thing.â
âIt was some kind of choir initiation,â Heeseung answers. âI donât remember it. Itâs been like. A decade.âÂ
âYouâre getting old,â you muse, teasing Heeseung.Â
âI could say the same about you,â Heeseung mutters, picking up a pen from your pen jar and chucking it at you. It hits your arm and clatters to the floor, loud in the empty classroom.Â
âOnce a bully, always a bully,â you retort.Â
âWhatever.âÂ
âDonât you have something better to do?â You ask Heeseung, âlike, I donât know, picking out what songs youâre going to sing in class today?â
âUnlike you, I have respectful friends who know not to bother me when I plan my lessons, so I already have picked out the three songs I plan on teaching the kids today.âÂ
âJay, Jake, and Sunghoon are your friends too? I donât see how that is an insult.âÂ
âTo be fair, I was only able to complete my lesson plan for this week because Jeongin and Beomgyu were following some Zen Yoga YouTube video they found,â Heeseung admits, grimacing slightly. âSeeing both of them in yoga pantsâŚ..Never again.âÂ
âDid you finally realize you have a flat ass compared to theirs?â
Heeseung scowls and deliberately knocks over your mug of pens. âDonât ever say I have a flat ass again. Jakeâs the one with a flat ass.â
âHe is not!â You defend your best friend with everything you have while cleaning up the mess Heeseung made. âYou come into my classroom, make a mess, and insult my friend? Youâre so lucky I donât have super strength.âÂ
âYouâre lucky I donât have super super strength.âÂ
âReally?â You deadpan, glaring at Heeseung. âHow childish. One of my students could come up with a better retort than that.âÂ
Heeseung rolls his eyes and grabs a donut from the box. Usually, you would whine and try to make him put it back, but today you let it slide since Heeseung was the one who bought the donuts for you. You turn back to your laptop to continue finishing up the last slide for todayâs lesson as Heeseung chews on the chocolate-covered donut and flicks through the worksheets you printed out.Â
âDonât you have anything better to do?â You mumble.Â
âNo,â Heeseung responds, finishing off the last of the donut. âMmm, those donuts are good.â He tries to help himself to another, but you slap his hand away. A scandalized gasp rings out through the room and Heeseung stares at you like you just called his mom a whore.Â
âGet out of my classroom, Heeseung. I can only tolerate you for so long.âÂ
âRude. Iâll remember this, Y/N,â Heeseung warns, backing out of your classroom as he wiggles his forefinger. âHeeseung Lee never forgets.âÂ
You snarl in response.Â
++
Jake kicks the soccer ball back and forth with Riki. You sit on a bench nearby with Jay and Sunghoon, licking the triple stack of mint chocolate ice cream you coerced Sunghoon into buying for you. It took a lot of effort -- Sunghoon violently puked in the gutter the moment you asked, apparently his allergy to mint chocolate is very real -- but after unwillingly pulling out the cute poses you tucked away after you graduated high school, Sunghoon gave in. Much to Jayâs delight.Â
Next to you, Sunghoonâs stomach rumbles loudly. âIâm gonna puke,â Sunghoon mumbles, ditching the remainder of his Tiramisu ice cream on the ground and running for the nearest bushing, retching loudly. Jake kicks the soccer ball at a dog.Â
Jay cackles loudly at the misfortune of both his friends -- Sunghoon having an allergic reaction to mint chocolate, and Jake practically crying on his knees as he apologizes to the dog and the dogâs owner over and over. Riki just stands to the side recording Jake. âGod, I love going to the park. Donât you?â
You stare at Jay. âAre you a masochist? Do you feel joy in seeing other peopleâs misfortunes?âÂ
Jay tsks, shaking his head. âIâm a sadist, not a masochist. Thereâs a difference.â
âWell, school me on the difference, Jay.âÂ
âMasochist; I enjoy hurting or humiliating myself. Sadist; I enjoy hurting or humiliating other people.âÂ
âIâll be sure to remember that,â you vow.Â
Jay finishes off his cone and rubs his stomach. âJayâs finished! Jayâs no longer hungry! Jay thinks we should head home now.âÂ
Sunghoonâs still retching. Jakeâs still crying. Riki is now trying to muffle his laughter. Youâre halfway through your triple scoop of mint chocolate. And Jay simply does not give a fuck.Â
âOh. Hey guys!â To make matters worse, Heeseung appears, dressed in jogging gear, and next to him is Jungwon. Oh God. Immediately, you start stuffing your face with the ice cream, trying to finish it all so you can high tail it out of this park. Jungwon Yang terrifies the shit out of you. Not only is he a professional Taekwondo athlete, but heâs also part cat. You vividly remember the time Jungwon attacked you -- hissing and claws out. You wake up screaming to that particular memory most nights.Â
âHeeseung! Whatâs up bro?â Jay dabs up Heeseung.Â
You give Heeseung a once over. Heâs wearing leggings underneath his black shorts, a bright yellow tank top, and a red headband wrapped around his head, pushing back his hair. On his feet are -- god you have to blink a couple of times. Bright pink shoes. Bright pink shoes. They must be Jeonginâs.Â
âNothing much. Just out running with Jungwonie. He was feeling a bit energetic this evening.âÂ
You side eye Jungwon who has begun to do some stretches -- well, to you it looks like heâs getting ready to spring another attack on you.Â
âY/N,â Heeseung addresses you. âFinish eating all the doughnuts I gave you?â
(Heeseung bought you another box of doughnuts today. He must be feeling pretty sorry for eating your seventeen dollar box of doughnuts last week. It makes your heart burn. And in a good way â at least you think. Maybe you have heart burn?)
You smile politely, very aware of the ice cream all over your face and the brewing brain freeze. âOf course. I have to say, they were super lovely, Heeseung. I appreciated your kind gesture. Very kind. Super good and kind. I loved it. Lots! Hahahahahahaha --â
âYou okay?â Heeseung interrupts, furrowing his brows. He reaches over and presses his palm against your forehead. You jolt away instantly, scowling.Â
âIâm not sick!âÂ
âYouâre acting weird.â
You side eye Jungwon again. This time heâs on his phone. Heâs probably calling for back up. Most likely Sunoo. Oh God, youâre about to get attacked, and then kidnapped. This is not good. You need to get out of here.Â
âWeird?? Hahaha why would I be acting weirdâŚ.â You choke down the rest of your ice cream with more force this time. Heeseung and Jay watch on in befuddlement.Â
âSlow down girl,â Jay says. âThat ice cream isnât going anywhere.âÂ
âMaybe sheâs just practicing,â Jake says. It seems heâs gotten over the trauma of hitting a dog with his soccer ball. âFor, you knowâŚ..âÂ
If you werenât trying to force mint chocolate ice cream down your throat, you wouldâve jumped Jake.Â
âHey, woah,â Heeseung grabs your wrist and halts you from eating. âLetâs clean you up a bit.â He pulls a box of wet wipes out of thin air and begins to wipe your face gently with them, discarding them in the nearby bin.Â
For some reason, your heart begins to palpitate as you watch Heeseung, who has a soft look on his face, clean your face. One hand gently holds your chin, while the other wipes away the ice cream you had smeared all over your face. Heeseung may be a freak and get on your nerves constantly and make you consider murder, but there are times like these; times where he is so kind and gentle towards you, and it makes you rethink your entire life --
Right. Your life.Â
So, you were born on a frosty December morning. You came out screaming so loud, a couple of nurses had to leave the room and you roused your passed out father. In the room next to you, Jay was born a couple of seconds later, which led to you and Jay growing up together. Side by side. Hand in hand. The sharing-the-sandbox-and-pushing-each-other-off-the-monkey-bars growing up.Â
All your life youâve been stuck to Jayâs side. And you hated it.Â
Elementary school started and you made new friends. Who then became Jayâs friends as well. You pushed Jay off the monkey bars every break time because he had invaded your big squad of girls, and you would get put in time out for ten minutes because of it every time. Jay would buy you a popsicle after school as an apology for worming his way into your girl group.Â
(Though, Jake should be mentioned here; he was an honorary member of your girl club because he was pretty good at braiding hair. This is when you, Jake, and Jay became a tight knit group of friends, much to your displeasure. Did everything in your life have to revolve around Jay?)
Middle school came and with a renewed vigor, you made new friends. And so did Jay. And it turned out his friends were also your friends. Because, somehow, you befriended Yizhuo, and Lily, and so did Jay. But there was one person you and Jay did not share in common; Heeseung Lee.
Heeseung was in the grade above you. He was kind, smart, and very attractive. You had both gone to the same elementary school and he instantly took Jay under his wing, but you made sure to stay far away. Boys who werenât Jay and Jake had cooties. You didnât really talk to Heeseung until middle school when Jay thought it would be best to add Heeseung to your friend group.Â
Instantly, Heeseung ticked you off and thus, began your long winded friendship of fighting and bickering every chance you got. It was just so easy to piss Heeseung off, and it was clear Heeseung took amusement in annoying you. At first, everyone told you it was because Heeseung liked you and wanted your attention -- but then came your freshman year, Heeseungâs sophomore year.Â
High school was a whole new environment, and a new friend was added to your friend group; Sunghoon. But more on that later. High school meant maturity, sex, and nostalgia for your childhood -- more on the sex part later.Â
With confidence filling your veins, you asked Heeseung out on a date. He promptly rejected you. That night, with Yizhuo and Lily, you called upon some demons and made them swear to curse Heeseung for the rest of his damned life.
Apparently, those demons suck fucking ass.Â
While you spent most of your time bickering with the boys around you, there were the times when they were gentle with you -- Heeseung especially. Somewhere, buried deep down, Heeseung actually cares about you. Youâve seen the way he looks at you. Youâve seen the way he handles you when youâre crying or emotional in any way and you canât help but let your heart flutter, even after swearing to move on from Heeseung ever since he rejected you.Â
You donât like admitting this but. Well. Youâve been in love with Heeseung since you were twelve.Â
God. How pathetic.Â
So -- there Heeseung was, gently wiping your face. âMessy girl,â Heeseung scolds gently. âSeriously. When did you become like Riki?â With a last swipe over your lips, Heeseung backs away. âThere. Now, you look easy on the eyes.âÂ
Knuckles crack. You glance over at Jungwon. Heâs cracking the bones in his neck. Oh God. You thrust the remainder of your ice cream at Jay and book it out of the park. You werenât planning on staying any longer. âLocal girl kidnapped by self-proclaimed Cat Boyâ is not a headline you want to be featured in.Â
Sayonara bitches!

For once, the school day passes by relatively boring. No children crying, no friendship drama, and no boys tugging on ponytails. Humming to yourself, you tidy up your classroom while thinking of what to have for dinner tonight. Jake and Sunghoon were out bar hopping with Felix -- which basically meant theyâll be touring all the gay bars in the city.Â
âHey.â
Glancing up, you see Heeseung resting in the doorway of your classroom, his brown satchel Jay gifted him for his eighteenth birthday hanging off his shoulder. He was wearing a blue plaid button-up, black trousers, and those fancy leather brown shoes Jay buys by the hundreds. Seriously. Half of Jayâs room is full of shoe boxes.Â
âHey,â you respond, dumping the handful of trash you were holding into the nearby rubbish bin.Â
âHungry?âÂ
âI could eat three horses.â
Heeseung grins. âPerfect. I have a reservation at that new Italian restaurant in ten minutes. Meet you there?â
You narrow your eyes. âIs this a date?â
âDo you want it to be a date?â
âWell, you are fresh out of a break up. I know you, Beomgyu, and Jeongin were involved for a while --â
â--I hope you know we were joking about that polyamory shit --â
â-- It wasnât a joke. Itâs okay. We love the gay community in this classroom --â
â--Donât tell me that youâre in love with me, Y/N --â
The conversation full of interruptions dies there. Can Heeseung tell? Just by the way youâre standing? Or the way youâre talking? That youâre in love with him? Shit. You need to do something to throw off suspicion. You canât have Heeseung thinking youâre in love with him. Thatâll lead to your demise.Â
(âOkay, hereâs my âHow-to-stop-loving-Heeseung-Leeâ guide,â Lily Morrow announces, sitting on her bright pink couch in her bright yellow apartment. Yizhuo was sitting next to Lily, squinting at the Colleen Hoover book she was reading -- unfortunately, Yizhuo had fallen victim to Booktokâs Colleen Hoover propaganda. Sheâll have to learn the hard way.
Wonyoung was also here. She was eating hot cheetos and daintily dusting off her fingers with a cute handkerchief your pretty sure you helped Sunghoon buy.
It was Girlâs Night. Well. An attempt at Girls night because only four of you were here. Minjeong had other business to attend to -- Beomgyu and Jeongin apparently took higher priority over Girls Night. Chaewon actually had work. Like. Real life work. A full time corporate job kind of work, which was unfortunate, and Yunjin was attending to an SNS text Heeseung had sent her. Speak of the devil.
Fiddling with the ends of the throw pillow Lilyâs roommate, Jinsoul, bought, you lean towards Lily with eager ears. âTell me, Mrs. Morrow. Tell me how to stop my twelve-year pining.âÂ
Lily clears her throat. âFirst step is admitting, to Heeseungâs face, that you do not love him. Admittance in the face of adversity is always a good start.âÂ
You nod, eyes gleaming. âOkay. Admit I do not love Heeseung to his face. Good start. Whatâs the next step?â
Lily makes a face. It looks like she just got a toothache. âUm. Thatâs all I have.âÂ
Thereâs a long pause.Â
Yizhuo gasps. âWhat a shit book!â And then she throws it across the room, narrowly missing the cat-shaped lamp Lilyâs roommate -- Jinsoul, once again -- bought. âWhat are you two talking about?â
âWhat the fuck, Lily? Why did you call a Girlâs Night then? We were supposed to figure out how to stop my pining!â You cry, shoving your face against the ugly throw pillow.Â
âI wasâŚ.interrupted.â
âWhat was more important than coming up with a comprehensive guide to getting over Heeseung Lee?â
âUm. Jake called me. Said he had lady problems.âÂ
âHe -- what? Jake has lady problems? Heâs -- he canât even get his dick up?!âÂ
Yizhuo snorts. âHe canât get his dick up?â
âHe asked me if female dogs also go through puberty because Layla wasnât listening to him.âÂ
âIâm gonna kill that fucking dog.â You swear.)
You laugh. âIn love with you? Thatâs the funniest thing youâve ever said, Heeseung Lee. I am not in love with you!â Phew. Good save.Â
âHmm, okay!â Heeseung shrugs. âLetâs go eat.âÂ
Itâs a short drive over to the new Italian restaurant. You and Heeseung park next to each other and enter the restaurant in silence. Itâs packed and conversation is spilling out into the night. Everything about this restaurant speaks romance, and itâs hard to not notice all the dates happening around you as youâre seated smack in the middle of the restaurant.Â
Since you were driving, you decided to get some Fanta.Â
âYou still like Fanta?â Heeseung asks, wrinkling his nose.Â
âHater,â you scowl. âFanta is good.â
âSure. If you were raised in a dumpster and had to fight your way out.âÂ
You pick up the knife in front of you, watching it glint in the moody restaurant lighting. âDonât test me, Heeseung. I was a waitress in high school.âÂ
âIs that supposed to scare me? Are you going to âare you ready to orderâ me to death?âÂ
âWatch that mouth, Heeseung Lee.âÂ
Heeseung grins and focuses back on the menu in front of him. âYou do know Jeongin and Beomgyu and I werenât actually dating?â
You smile, rolling your eyes. âOf course I know. But to anyone else? Well.â The spaghetti bolognese sounds good, but their ravioli sounds even better -- oh wow their gnocchi. This is going to be a tough decision to make. Glancing up at Heeseung, you canât remember the last time you two ever hung out like this. In fact, you canât ever remember the last time the two of you were this polite with each other.Â
âSo, whyâd you ask me to join you tonight? Do you still feel bad for eating all my doughnuts?â You set the menu down, deciding on the ravioli.Â
âNah,â Heeseung shakes his head. âJeongin, Beomgyu, Yunjin, Minjeong, and I had this slideshow night a couple of nights back. Jeonginâs slideshow was a lecture on how we should all be mature by now -- I mean, no twenty-five-year-old should still be arguing like a twelve-year-old with their friend.â Heeseung glances up at you, an oddly warm look in his eyes. âIt kinda got me thinking.âÂ
âOh,â you fail to come up with a response.Â
Your waiter comes back and you order your food.Â
âI guess itâs time we mature,â you agree with Heeseung. You feel as though your world has been turned upside down. Being mature with Heeseung? That sounds immature. âDoes this mean we have to say good morning and good evening to each other, and ask how each other is doing whenever we see each other?â
Heeseung snorts, siping his orange juice. (Heâs one to talk about ordering Fanta. Only freaky losers order orange juice. Orange juice drinkers are the worst types of humans. Trust.) âNot that adult-like mature, Y/N. Itâs like we didnât grow up together.âÂ
âWell, if you wanna get technical --â
âJay talked about you all the time in elementary school. I felt like I knew you before I actually knew you. I also thought you and Jay would get married, but apparently Jay has a type for women and men who donât want him. Case and point; Yuna and Jungwon.âÂ
You giggle, thinking back to Jayâs whirlwind romance with Yuna -- that was all in his head. JungwonâŚwell thatâs a work in progress according to Jay. Youâre pretty sure Jungwon has a thing with Rei, which is probably why Riki is a bit antagonistic towards him because Riki has a thing for Rei.Â
âJake told me he was out with Felix tonight.â
You nod your head. âJake and Sunghoon are going bar hopping with him. I wonder how long itâll take for them to realize theyâre actually going to every gay bar in the city.âÂ
âItâll take a while for Sunghoon to figure out. Heâs used to getting hit on by everyone and everything.âÂ
You raise your glass of Fanta. âLetâs cheers to that.âÂ
Your food arrives. It was just as yummy as you imagined, and the night floats away as you and Heeseung talk about everything under the sun. It felt weird, but nice, not arguing with Heeseung over stupid petty things like siblings would. You think you could get used to this.Â
You order a brownie for dessert, and of course after saying he was too full for dessert, the gooey chocolate brownie is too tempting for Heeseung.Â
âNo!â You exclaim, whacking Heeseungâs hand away. âYou do not get to eat this brownie. Iâm paying for it, so Iâm eating it. Donât even think about touching it. I don't want your ugly music teacher hands getting all over it.âÂ
âYou hate me,â scowls Heeseung. âAnd what did music teachers ever do to you?â
âExist,â you snarl.Â
Heeseung eyes you, and then breaks out into a grin, leaning back in his chair and stretching. âAhh, I know what this is. This is reverse psychology flirting.âÂ
You give Heeseung a look, and then reach out to touch his forehead. âAre you sick, Heeseung, what are you even saying?â
Heeseung bats your hand away and opens his mouth. âAhhh?âÂ
âAhh,â you mock back and shove the entire brownie into your mouth.Â
âWhy do you eat food like itâs going to disappear in .5 seconds. What happened to savoring the flavor?âÂ
âSo. Since when were you on my familyâs email list for Christmas dinner?â You address the elephant in the room -- well, the elephant in the room for you. Youâre pretty sure Heeseung isnât aware that thatâs all youâve been thinking about for the past 48 hours.Â
Heeseung shrugs, finishing off the last of his eighth glass of orange juice. âIt just happened. I think itâs also your mom trying to get me married into the family.âÂ
âIs this the part where Iâm supposed to get down on one knee?â
âI wouldnât get married to you.âÂ
âHow else will you marry into the family? Iâm an only child.â
âThereâs always Jay.âÂ
âHeâs my motherâs non-biological son.âÂ
âShe still thinks of him as a son.âÂ
âFine. Be gay. See if I care.âÂ
Heeseung has a smug grin on his face. âI think you do care, Y/N. You care greatly about the fact that I would choose Jay over you.âÂ
âEveryone chooses Jay over me. Even my own mother,â you grumble.Â
++
âHowâs the Heeseung project coming along?â Yizhuo asks as sheâs painting your nails over the dining table. Jay was busy in the kitchen, airpods in, and cutting up some vegetables for the curry he was making. Jake was busy crying over some physics shit and taking breaks to stare at the pack of Malboros he bought yesterday, and Sunghoon was giggling like a teenage girl as he texts Wonyoung.Â
Freak.Â
âWell, I told him I didnât love him to his face like Lily advised,â you say.Â
Yizhuo nods her head.
âAnd thatâs all Iâve done so far.âÂ
Yizhuo gives you a disappointed look.Â
âDonât look at me like that!â You whine. âItâs just. Hard. Okay? Super duper hard because everything about him attracts me. Even his fucking adamâs apple.âÂ
âWhy are we talking about Adam's apple?â Jake asks, walking into the kitchen, tears streaming down his face and his fingers twitching.Â
You both ignore Jake who then immediately breaks down as soon as he opens the refrigerator. Sometimes you regret moving in with Jake. Heâs prone to breakdowns.Â
âKeep this up and youâre gonna die alone. And a virgin.â Yizhuo hisses.
âActually, Iâm not a virgin. Remember?âÂ
âWhyâd you have to remind me,â groans Yizhuo.Â
So -- the sex thing.Â
You + Jake + alcohol = Sex.Â
End of story.Â
Yunjin suddenly bursts into the kitchen, Sunghoon following close behind. She leans over, her hands resting on her knees and she gasps for breath. Everyone stops what theyâre doing and stares at her. It takes a while for Yunjin to regain her composure -- itâs probably all the hotboxing she does with Beomgyu, Jeongin, and their pickle rick bong.Â
âHeeseung -- Heeseungâs on a date.â
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is where Act Two begins.

Act II: A love that nobody could destroy
[SCENE: CHRISTMAS PARTY, 9 PM]
Itâs Christmas. Itâs the season of cheer. Itâs the season of snow, snowmen, and eggnog. Itâs the season of giving. Itâs the season of kissing each other under the mistletoe and having hot Christmas sex while Jingle Bells plays.
You sit on the couch, eyes following Heeseung around the house like a hawk. So, Heeseung has been going out on dates with a girl named Ryujin. Interesting. Youâve never heard of the name Ryujin before, and your mother knows everyone in the godforsaken city. Next to you, Jeongin shifts uncomfortably.
âRemind me why weâre sitting together?â
âYouâre a Heeseung magnet,â you tell him.Â
âI am?âÂ
You look at Jeongin. âYes.â And then you look back at Heeseung.Â
Christmas; season of cheer and giving, but for you? Itâs the season of green-eyed monsters named jealousy. You wonder, what does this Ryujin girl have that you donât? What was so special about her that made Heeseung decide to go on dates with her instead of you? Was your hang out at that really nice Italian restaurant really that bad? You shiver at the thought.Â
Jeongin, ever the Heeseung magnet, manages to attract Heeseung over to the couch you were both sitting on. Sitting up straighter, Heeseung takes a seat beside you, his knee brushing yours. You almost drop your eggnog.Â
âHey,â Heeseung greets, grabbing a pillow and holding it against his chest. âPretty fun party, isnât it? Your mom always throws the best parties, Y/N.â Heeseung beams at you. Teeth and all. You swoon a bit.Â
âYeah, well, sheâs putting on her best since youâre here.â Is this flirting? Are you flirting? Beside you, Jeongin snorts into his cup of lemonade.Â
Heeseung rolls his eyes. âSo, how many cards did you get before Christmas break? I got about fifty. Lots of chocolate too.âÂ
âIâm not sharing that private information with you.âÂ
âAhh, you only got three.âÂ
âDid not! My students love me!â You defend.Â
âHmm. Sure.âÂ
âWhat? Whatâs that supposed to mean?âÂ
Heeseung smiles like he knows the answer to every question ever. âOh, you know. Iâve heard some things about youâŚ..â
You practically pin Heeseung to the back of the couch, your eggnog thrust into Jeonginâs unwilling hand. âTell. Me. Now.â You demand, through gritted teeth. âOr I will castrate you.âÂ
âLast time you threatened castration nothing happened.âÂ
âThis time it will happen. I know a guy who knows a vet.âÂ
Heeseung raises an eyebrow. âDo tell, Y/N.âÂ
âFirst, you spill your secrets and I spill mine.âÂ
Unfortunately, Sunghoon interrupts your interrogation. âAs much as weâre all enjoying the view,â Sunghoon says, sounding deeply amused, âyour services are required, darling Y/N.âÂ
If you were Medusa, Sunghoon would be stone. âWhat.â Venom practically spits from your mouth. Who dared to interrupt your interrogation? Oh. Of course it was Jay and Jake. They stand in a shadowed corner, beckoning you over with not-so subtle hand gestures.Â
Reluctantly, you let go of Heeseung, pat down your dress, and approach the two boys, Sunghoon hot on your heels.Â
âHow important is this?â You hiss. âI almost had Heeseungâs confession.âÂ
âConfession?!â Exclaims Jake. âHe was gonna admit his love to you?â
Freeze frame -- a little backstory;
After Yunjin all but burst into your kitchen with that sudden proclamation of Heeseung on a date, Jay promptly asked you what you were going to do about that, which led to you freaking out and wondering how the hell Jay knew you were in love with Heeseung.
âI knew it from the moment I introduced you to him,â Jay said, sounding proud of himself. You, on the other hand, canât help but feel suspicious. Since when was Jay so observant of you? In fact, when has Jay ever been that observant? Or had those kinds of feelings -- the psychic weirdo feelings? Jayâs a pretty straight forward facts kinda guy. Suspicion fills up your stomach, but you push it aside.Â
âYeah, Y/N. You should go confess to Heeseung. Itâs getting tiring,â Jake had followed up with after Jayâs explanation. It seemed his tears had dried up. After another shouting match of you asking Jake how he knew, you found out Jake only found out last year because Jay had told him. Once again, you were suspicious because since when did Jay willingly tell Jake all the secrets he knew? If there was one thing Jay was good at, it was goading Jake. He loved to tease and annoy the shit out of Jake, and he loved holding things over the Australianâs head.Â
Sunghoonâs reaction on the other hand, wasnât surprising at all; âYou love Heeseung?â An alien could be having sex with another alien in front of Sunghoon, and he wouldnât even notice.Â
So, you found out two of your roommates knew of your love for Heeseung, and Sunghoon had just found out, so immediately a plan was put into action. Jay, Jake, and Sunghoon took this seriously, deciding they were gonna play Spies. Overdramatic freaks.
Thatâs why Jake, Jay, Sunghoon, and you were conversing in a dark corner in the living room. Apparently, thatâs something spies do. âWe have intel on this Ryujin Shin,â Jake says, in a low tone, eyes scouring the room for any eavesdroppers. You have to stifle a laugh.Â
âPray tell, Agent Layla.âÂ
(Agent Layla = Jake
Agent Mariners = Jay
Agent Ice Prince = Sunghoon.)
(Pretty stupid names if anybody were to ask you.)
âSheâs a lesbian.âÂ
Silence fills the dark living room corner.Â
âAnd youâve confirmed it?â
Jay whips out his phone and shows you photos of Ryujin Shin. HD 4K photos.Â
âWe literally caught her in 4K.â
âYou stalked her?â
âWell --â
âYou guys are taking this spy agent shit too seriously.âÂ
âWeâre bored, Y/N!â Sunghoon whines. âBored, horny adult men.âÂ
âYou couldâve left the horny part out,â Jake mumbles.Â
âOkay, So, sheâs a lesbian,â you say, confirming it yourself as you swipe through photos of this Ryujin Shin girl kissing another girl. âDoes Heeseung look like a girl?âÂ
Once again, silence falls over the dark living room corner. All four of you turned to look at Heeseung who was engaged in what seemed like a deep conversation with Jeongin. Lord knows what they were talking about. Probably the drama in Jeongin and Beomgyuâs pilates class.Â
âNo. Heâs not.â Jay confirms.
âBut if your tilt your head slightlyâŚ.â Sunghoon says, with a tilted head. Jake whacks him and Sunghoon straightens up. âNope. Heeseung is very much a guy. Jake can confirm because heâs seen his dick before -- right?â
Jake nods his head. âIt was a pretty solid dick.âÂ
âSo, Heeseung is a guy, Ryujin goes around kissing girls, why the hell would they go out on dates with each other?â You ask the question of the hour.Â
No one says anything for a moment.
âMaybe itâs an experiment,â Jake pipes up. âMaybe Heeseung is trying to turn Ryujin to the dark side.âÂ
âDark side?â You ask.
âStraight.âÂ
âThe dark side is being straight?â
Jake nods his head. âWe hate heteros here.âÂ
âDown with the heterosexuals!â Sunghoon exclaims.Â
âOkay, Iâm finished with this conversation. Iâm walking away. And over to Heeseung.â You shake your head. You feel your brain cells exploding.Â
âWait! Y/N! What was the second step in Lilyâs comprehensive guide to getting over Heeseung Lee?â Jay asks frantically.Â
âThere was no second step,â you say. âSo Iâm left to figure out the second step all by myself. I mean, I should probably go on a date with someone, right?âÂ
âI can set you up,â Sunghoon says.
âNo.â You shoot him down immediately.Â
++
Your date was a guy named Mark. Youâre spending your date in front of a claw machine, watching Mark blow all his money on attempting to get this one monkey plushie you had pointed out. âItâs fine, Mark, really. I donât need it.â But, like all men, he ignored you and shoved another one dollar note into the claw machine. Groaning, you turn around, not bothering to watch another failed attempt.
The arcade was alive with people at 8 PM. Huh, who knew.Â
At first, Mark seemed like a cool dude. And then he howled at the moon fifteen seconds after you started up a conversation about Twilight with him. He told you he was team Jacob and that made you incredibly wary of him. Why would anyone be team Jacob?Â
There were a million other games you would love to play -- like the motorbike one across from you. You totally ruled at motorbike arcade games. Or there was this zombie apocalypse game you passed by as Mark led you over to the basketball game -- and then you pointed out the monkey plushie and Mark forgot all about his bragging about how heâs the best basketballer since Lebron.Â
Your mind trails to Heeseung. Typical. If it were Heeseung you were on a date with, you wouldnât be standing here with a deep longing to play the motorbike game because you would be playing the motorbike game. Heeseung would be on the bike next to you making stupid remarks and you would be beside yourself in laughter.Â
The thing is; youâre what someone would call âemotionally repressed.â You hate thinking, talking and feeling your feelings. Especially when it comes to romantic attraction toward your long-time friend. Ever since Heeseung rejected you back in freshman year, youâve become accustomed to pushing your feelings away and burying them in the deep dark depths of your mind. They rarely come out to play -- and when they do, youâre ready and waiting to whack them back into hiding.Â
With a huff, you decide that this isnât the date you want. You donât want to be stuck to Mark Leeâs side for the night, so with tense shoulders you turn around to -- Mark Lee holding out the monkey plushie you pointed out, a broad grin on his face. âIâm a pro,â he says, fifty dollars poorer. âNow, itâs time for me to get my Lebron on,â and he leads you over to the basketball game.Â
Okay. Maybe Mark wasnât that bad. He justâŚ.has some flaws. Fatal flaws. (Like seriously. Who howls at the fucking moon??)
âNoooo wayyy!â Mark exclaims, pulling up to the arcade game and tapping the shoulder of a hooded shoulder. As soon as you see the face of the hooded figure, you melt into the ground, never to be seen again. Heeseung Lee. What the fuck was he doing here? This was not the second step to Lily Morrowâs comprehensive guide to getting over Heeseung Lee. He wasnât supposed to intrude on your date!
âYo, Mark!â Heeseung daps him up, and then he sees you. Disgustingly, his face lights up. Itâs like, ever since the Doughnut Incident, heâs decided to call you a friend, which isnât exactly a good thing but also; youâre sick of being stuck in the friendzone. Like, câmon!!!!!!!!!!! Itâs been ten years since he rejected you, surely some feelings have developed in those ten years.Â
Well. There was the whole Jake Year. You donât really want to delve into that -- too much uncharted territory and angst for you.Â
âY/N!â Heeseung exclaims, wrapping you in a hug. If only Jake, Jay, and Sunghoon were here to see this. Wonyoung would also probably be there, since Sunghoon was. Ever since Christmas, you never see Wonyoung or Sunghoon without each other. Jay reckons theyâve gotten engaged. Jakeâs too busy crying over Layla biting him to care.Â
âHey,â you greet.Â
âYou sound enthusiastic.â
âYou know me, always enthused to see you.âÂ
Ryujin Shin pops out of nowhere, because of course she does.Â
âLetâs be honest,â you blurt out, and then immediately regret it when Ryujin gives you a weird look. You need to stop hanging around Riki. And Jeongin. Donât even start on Jeongin Yang.Â
Heeseung also gives you a weird look. âLetâs be honest, I need to poop,â you try to recover from that fuck up, but you think you only make it worse. âI think Iâm about to blow, can we reschedule this date, Mark? I need to get to the nearest toilet before I explode.â You need to shut the fuck up. But youâre stressed and when youâre stressed, your mouth runs like a motor unable to stop. Jay says itâs your worst feature, Sunghoon says itâs your most defining feature. You told Sunghoon his most defining feature was the bruise he was about to get from your punch to the face.Â
âAre you sick?â Heeseung asks. Because apparently you constantly get sick around him.Â
âIâm fine.â (Why does your voice crack?) Suddenly, the arcade becomes overwhelming. You have to get out. So, with a hurried goodbye to Mark, you exit the arcade, gripping the monkey plushie tightly and trying to push the boiling pot of emotions further down -- but it doesnât work, like it normally does, and your chest becomes tight.Â
You make it halfway down the street before you start crying. Why are you crying? Why?? What brought this on? Maybe itâs the fact Heeseungâs dating other people -- lesbians, to be exact. Maybe itâs the fact you tried to move on. Maybe itâs the fact Heeseung is always there, wherever you go.Â
Okay, so you know you havenât gone into much detail about how much you truly love Heeseung, so hereâs the truth; you love him. Really love him, that sometimes, itâs hard to breathe. You love Heeseung, that just the thought of him keeps you awake on random nights. When you were thirteen, you planned out your life with Heeseung in your diary. When you were fourteen, after Heeseung rejected you, you cried so hard you threw up and took three days off of school. When you were fifteen and trying to move on from Heeseung, you couldnât.Â
When you were seventeen, you played a game of seven minutes in heaven and you wished badly to get Heeseung. You thought that maybe, if he kissed you, he would take back his rejection from freshman year. Instead, the bottle landed on Jake and --
Youâve loved Heeseung for twelve years.Â
Every time you think about the future, Heeseung is always there. Even now, when youâre trying to move on. Even now, when you were waiting for Mark to get the monkey plushie. Even now, as youâre crying, youâre wondering why itâs so hard to make Heeseung love you.Â
Maybe the whole Doughnut Incident was just the catalyst for this; your ultimate demise. Maybe, that Doughnut Incident, and everything that occurred after, is just the universe giving you a sign itâs time to give up. Youâve wasted twelve years of your life. Give Up.Â
âY/N?âÂ
Heeseungâs here. Heeseung -- Heeseung followed you?
You glance up, and Heeseung frowns, coming to stand in front of you to brush away your tears.
Maybe you were too in your head -- too blinded by fighting down your emotions that you didnât realize how Heeseung truly treated you. Sure, you both argued over menial things, and called each other names just for the hell of it, but this was the true friendship of you and Heeseung -- forged over late night talks, and sneaking into Jayâs massive kitchen to eat all his pop tarts and drink his Coke.Â
Heeseung takes care of you. He was always there for you in high school when you spent hours in the school, and local library. He was there for you in college, when you were a pathetic mess and spent most of your freshman and sophomore years crying every day. And God. He was there for you during your Jake Years -- even when he shouldnâtâve been.Â
This whole time, youâve been deluding yourself into believing Heeseung never cared, when itâs so obvious now. Heâs cradling your face, with concerned eyes. âY/N, whatâs wrong?â His voice is soft. So so soft. Youâre utterly beguiled. Youâre overwhelmed. Youâre in a daze.
You respond by kissing Heeseung.Â

The Jake Years.Â
1. When did Jake and Y/N first hook up
Freshman year of college
Senior year of high school
Junior year of high school
2. When did Jake and Y/N begin regularly hooking up?
Freshman year of college. October 31st.
Sophomore year of college. November 15th.
Senior year of high school, December 31st.
3. How long did this relationship last?
Five months
Two years
One year
One year, nine months
4. Why did Jake and Y/N begin hooking up?
Because Y/N needed to get over Heeseung
Because Jake had a crush on Y/N
5. What were the consequences for hooking up with each other?
The answer is too long to be multi choice
The friend group falling apart, Heeseung fading away, Jake and Y/N resenting each other for a year after the relationship ended, Heeseung dating a girl called Giselle.Â
Y/N didnât realize it at the time, but Heeseung loved her. He was in love with her. His heart was dedicated to her. He wouldâve confessed, if it werenât for him walking in on Jake and Y/N making out in a bathroom. Heeseung tried to keep his distance from Y/N, and Jake, but he loved her. So, he stayed and tried to repair his broken heart in the process.
Jake and Y/N blaming each other for all their problems.Â
All of the above. And more.Â
Examinerâs notes: I know this looks like a lot. And it is. And thereâs more. Thereâs always more to the story, and if Y/N hadn't been so blind, then she wouldâve seen Heeseungâs love and affection for her. Heeseung got to college, and realized he missed Y/N more than any of his other friends. He missed her, and missing her made him love her. He worshipped Y/N, and was willing to do anything for her and that made it hard to walk away from their friendship when she started hooking up with Jake, so Heeseung stayed. He fucking stayed. He stayed, and let Y/N shatter his heart whole. If Y/N had only opened her fucking eyes, looked outside of her mind, she couldâve seen what she had been wishing for for most of her life. Good exam. You seemed to have studied this topic well -- you have the best marks in this class! I hope to see you taking this course at a collegiate level.Â
++
âNot a fucking intervention,â you groan, opening the door to see Beomgyu and Jeongin in yoga pants and matching cheetah-print tank-tops. Did cheetah-print tank-tops even exist? You wonder where Beomgyu and Jeongin found them, Lily and her roommate, Jinsoul, would totally love them. âI donât need an intervention. Iâm fine. Please, I hate pilates.âÂ
Jeongin grabs your arm and yanks you out the door. âNope. Youâre coming to our pilates class.âÂ
âIâll scream.â
âTry us,â Beomgyu smiles. Itâs not a nice smile. You hate it when Beomgyu smiles with his teeth.Â
Jeongin and Beomgyuâs pilateâs class was infamous for many things -- their teacher, Joshua Hong, was a little bit on theâŚ..gay side. And everyone who went to pilates with Beomgyu and Jeongin, came back a changed person -- Jake can attest to that. He was free of his Christian guilt and immediately lit up five bongs, got stoned, ran through the streets naked, and entered a Catholic church. Talk about extreme.Â
âFine. Iâll jump out your van and kill myself.âÂ
âItâll be our pleasure to witness that great feat,â Jeongin responds, rapidly pushing the down button on the elevator before giving up and heading for the stairs.Â
âWhat the fuck why are we taking the stairs? We live on the fifteenth floor. Iâm not walking down fifteen flights of stairs. Look! The elevator is starting to climb floors --â
âShut up and start climbing, Y/N,â Beomgyu says, holding the door open. âYou need this.âÂ
âDid you just call me fat?âÂ
âMaybe. Move your fat ass.âÂ
âRude as hell.âÂ
âYou wanna know whatâs rude?â Jeongin asks, and instantly, you know whatâs about to be said.
âNope. Donât say anything. I donât wanna know --â
âKissing our best friend and then running away.âÂ
Yeah. That happened. Call it a moment of panic.Â
You groan loudly, the sound reverberating through the stairwell. âIâll admit, not my finest moment.âÂ
âActually, hooking up with Jake while Heeseung was in love with you was not your finest moment,â Jeongin corrects, holding up his forefinger. Behind you, Beomgyu disguises his laughter as a cough.Â
You already knew Heeseung was in love with you while you and Jake were hooking up because of Sunoo. He was severely inebriated and decided to spill dark, juicy secrets to you. But, like everything else related to Heeseung, you pushed it away and pulled on your blind glasses, letting your unreliable train of thoughts control the narrative of your life.Â
Pulling up to a pilates class in jeans was the worst mistake of your life, but Beomgyu and Jeongin didnât seem to care as they placed their mats down at the very front of the room, and right next toâŚ.Jungwon, Sunoo, and Riki. God. You were literally in hell.Â
Jungwon hisses at you, Riki smirks, and Sunoo holds in his laugh. Clearly, the news of you kissing Heeseung had spread fast.Â
âI hope all women die,â Jungwon claims in a rather dramatic fashion.
âDonât say that. Theyâll call you misogynistic,â Sunoo says, patting Jungwon on the head.Â
âWell. That is something a misogynist would say,â Riki points out.Â
âI canât believe you broke Heeseungâs heart a second time,â a voice behind you says.Â
âWho the fuck are you?â You ask, whirling around.
âChan!âÂ
âSomeone with the name Chan probably stinks,â Beomgyu says.Â
âThatâs rude,â Chan comments.Â
âYour feet stink,â the person behind Chan says.Â
Chan leaves the pilates class.
âSo,â Jeongin says, beginning to stretch. âWhat happened?â
You stand there, arms folded, mat still folded, and in jeans. âNot telling.âÂ
Jungwon hisses again. Sunoo has to manhandle the younger boy away from you.Â
âWhy not?â Beomgyu asks, pulling out a cruiser from his bag. He takes a sip like itâs water. To be honest, youâre not surprised. Youâve seen their fridge before. Youâve never wanted to unsee something so badly.Â
âBecause itâs stupid,â you feel ashamed to admit this but whatever. You pick at your jeans.Â
âWhatâs stupid?â Jeongin probes, now doing a handstand -- what the fuck?
âJust -- everything!âÂ
Upon your sudden proclamation, the pilates instructor, Joshua Hong walks in. Saved by the teacher, you let out a sigh of relief. Jeongin and Beomgyu would have to give up their interrogation for now and youâll get time to think over pretty solid excuses to their questions.Â
Or so you thought.
âGayshua -- sorry, Joshua!â Beomgyu calls out, âwe have another one!â And he points to you. This Joshua Hong fellow grins so brightly you literally have to squint. Talk about veneers.Â
âDope. Come on up here,â Joshua gestures to the podium that is usually used by instructors.Â
âWhat?â Youâre confused.Â
âIntervention time!â Sunoo cheers, clapping. Soon, the whole studio is clapping and Beomgyu leads you up to the podium. You feel totally befuddled. What the fuck. You were supposed to air out your deepest darkest secret to a room full of strangers?
âAlright, this is Y/N,â Beomgyu introduced you. âSheâs in love with our best friend, Heeseung Lee. You all know Heeseung, right?â
Everyone nods their head, and a voice rings out, âyeah! Heâs pretty dope.â The voice belonged to Mark Lee. Of-fucking-course. Somehow, this all gets more embarrassing.Â
âAnd heâs in love with her too and she broke his heart --â
âHe used to be in love with me,â you correct Beomgyu. âHe doesnât love me anymore.â
Beomgyu laughs so loudly you cower away. âHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!âÂ
âWhatâŚ..what was funny about that?â Your ears are still ringing.Â
âIf he didnât love you anymore, why is he crying in bed watching Riverdale? Why did you break his heart a second time, as he so dramatically put it?â
Itâs like an atom bomb was dropped on you.
âWait. You said Riverdale?â
Beomgyu nods his head. âThatâs how you know itâs bad.â Then he turns back to address his fellow pilates friends. âY/N did a classic âkiss-and-run.â Today, we will help her unpack all of her feelings, and emotions. But beware; sheâs incredibly emotionally repressed. Like itâs fucking terrible.â Then, Beomgyu hops off the stage, and everyoneâs eyes are on you.Â
âYo? A kiss-and-run? She must be insaneee,â you hear Mark murmur.Â
Maybe he was right.
++
That pilates intervention did nothing. You ended up getting stoned with Beomgyu and Jeongin after, and then immediately falling asleep as soon as you got home. Heeseung plagues your dreams. Heâs a never ending nightmare -- right? Dreaming about Heeseung is a nightmare?Â
The week continues on. You ignore all the advice Beomgyu and Jeonginâs pilates class gave you and instead take your own advice. You avoid and ignore the problem -- Heeseung. Hell, you donât even like his Instagram stories. Itâs serious business to you. Even at school you manage to avoid Heeseung.Â
Itâs a Saturday night. Wonyoung is over for dinner. âYou know, Y/N,â Wonyoung speaks up suddenly as youâre loading the dishwasher and sheâs searching through the fridge. âI think youâre pretty pathetic for avoiding Heeseung.âÂ
Being called pathetic by Wonyoung Jang of all people means youâve hit a new low.
âPardon?â Itâs the only response you can manage.
Wonyoung shuts the fridge and smiles at you. âWell, first of all, I donât know why you enlisted in Lilyâs help. Everyone knows sheâs not the best person to go to for help. And second of all, I donât see the point in avoiding Heeseung -- you both love each other. Just go and confess and then youâll live your life-long dream.âÂ
âItâs complicated,â you protest, but even to you it sounds like a weak excuse.Â
âNo itâs not,â Wonyoung responds, studying the various photos and reminders pinned to the surface of your fridge by the random magnets Jake buys -- he has a magnet addiction. It must be the physics part of him -- âyouâre the one thatâs making it complicated. You love to complicate things, donât you?âÂ
This whole conversation is worse than death.
You spend the entire night replaying the conversation over and over again. Your fingers begin to twitch and you grab your phone, unlock it, and click on Heeseungâs contact, your finger hovering over the call button.Â
A minute later, you throw down the phone and get up to use the toilet. Youâll never be able to work up the courage to call, or text Heeseung. Maybe this is for the best, really. Pushing open the door to the bathroom, you stop in your tracks upon the sight of Jake helping Layla pee into the toilet.Â
âOh, sheâs actually getting better?âÂ
Jake turns and flashes a smile. âYou know what they say! Practice makes perfect!âÂ
âRightâŚâ you trail off. âJake, can I ask you something?â
âSure,â Jake says, grabbing some toilet paper for Layla.Â
âDo you regretâŚ.it?âÂ
âYes,â Jake says, without missing a beat.Â
âOh,â you donât know why you feel so offended, but you donât blame Jake for regretting it. A lot of friendships were ruined in the process of your relationship.Â
âYou know, Y/N, youâre not as emotionally repressed as you think. If you wanted, youâd be with Heeseung right now.âÂ
âI think thatâs the nicest thing youâve ever said to me.âÂ
âSex buddies for life!â Jake grins. âLook, Y/N. You canât blame yourself for everything that happened in college. We were stupid, you were emotional and in love and I took whatever you gave me. Itâs in the past, weâre more mature now. You have a chance, and you should take it. Donât be afraid.âÂ
You groan and hold your head in your hands. âI just -- I just canât call him. I canât. What do I even say to him?âÂ
âSo donât call him,â Jake says matter-of-factly. âGo see him.âÂ
âGo see him? At 2 in the morning?âÂ
âExcuses, excuses,â tsks Jake. âIâll drive you.âÂ
âYouâre broke and have no gas.â
âI nicked Jaehyunâs keys in the lobby earlier.â
âJake!âÂ
âYouâll be thanking me later. Câmon, letâs go.âÂ
++
Jake pulls up to Heeseungâs apartment building. Youâre sitting in the backseat since Jake insisted on Layla having the passengerâs seat. Your stomach rolls over with nerves and every gulp you take only increases the speed of your heart.Â
âI feel sick,â you croak.Â
âThrow up in the gutter, not in my car.â
âYou mean Jaehyunâs car.â
âYeah, yeah, whatever. Get out and go see Heeseung. Tell him you love him and want to have his babies.âÂ
âAlright, alright.âÂ
Layla barks at you as you exit the car.
âLayla says âfighting!ââ Jake tells you.Â
âThanks Layla.â You sigh and turn to look up at the building in front of you. âI can do this,â I whisper.Â
âI wonât wait for you!âÂ
âWhat?!â I exclaim, turning back around. âWhy not?â
âIâm tired and need sleep, so you better make sure Heeseung accepts your love and apology otherwise youâre walking home, or sleeping on the street.â With that, Jake pulls away from the curb, leaving you standing helplessly in your cat pajamas and BTS hoodie.Â
The elevator ride up to Heeeseungâs floor is the longest ride of your life. Youâre sweating everywhere -- forehead, palms, armpits, elbow, behind the knees, and even your feet. You can do this. You can do this. Itâs easy, just apologize and admit your love.Â
The elevator door dings open revealing Heeseung.Â
âOh!â
âOh.â
You and Heeseung stare at each other for so long, the elevator doors start to shut again. For a second, you want them to shut and take you away, but then you remember Jakeâs threats, and Wonyoungâs words and youâre thrusting your hands out, stopping the doors from closing.Â
âHeeseung,â You begin with a surge of confidence. âIâm sorry for running away after kissing you. That was kind of a stupid move.âÂ
The elevator doors begin to shut again. You thrust your hand out to stop them from closing. âLike, it was genuinely stupid because why did I do that? I mean, Iâve been in love with you for twelve years, so I shouldâve stayed and kissed you more --â
You hold your hand out to stop the doors from closing.Â
â--I shouldâve enjoyed kissing you. But instead, I ran because apparently thatâs what Iâve been doing for the past couple of years. Itâs true, though, that Iâve loved you for twelve years. I loved you every second of those twelve years. Iâve never stopped. And itâs okay if you donât love me back, even though Beomgyu told me youâre watching Riverdale. Iâm sorry for making you so sad you watched Riverdale. I think thatâs the worst part about all of this.â
This time, its Heeseung who stops the doors, letting you continue on with your monologue. You hope youâre making sense.Â
âI guess this is where I say; I love you Heeseung, and I would like another chance to kiss you.âÂ
Heeseung doesnât say anything when he gets into the elevator with you. He presses the lobby button, and watches the door close in silence. Youâre pretty sure youâre not breathing. âHeeseung?â You ask, gently. âAre you okay?âÂ
Heeseung doesnât say anything until the doors ding open, revealing the lobby. Turning to you, Heeseung takes your hand and leads you out of the elevator. âHeeseung, where are we going?â You ask, following Heeseung as he leads you out of the apartment building.Â
Itâs raining.
âDo you have an umbrella?â Heeseung asks, finally saying something.
You shake your head.
âI canât be bothered going back up to get mine. Are you okay with walking in the rain?â
âOf course, as long as Iâm with you.â
Cringe or not, it makes Heeseung smile.Â
âWell, actually, I kind of do mind because when my hair dries after being out in the rain it gets all frizzy and --â You cut yourself off as Heeseung breaks out into a sprint, tugging you along with him. What the fuck was he on? Was he stoned, or something? Maybe he was leading you to your death. Sounds right. You, too, would murder Heeseung if he pulled a kiss-and-run on you. In fact, it would probably be a murder-suicide.Â
Okay. Thatâs kind of morbid.Â
It turns out, Heeseung took you for a run around the block. God heâs such a weirdo. And a loser. And a freak. And youâre totally in love with him. He has no flaws. Heâs perfect. Heâs like Prince Charming, if Prince Charmingâs hobbies were hotboxing and playing every instrument known to man.Â
âWhat the fuck, Heeseung? Why did we just run around the block?âÂ
âYou look cute,â Heeseung responds. âI totally dig your cat pajamas. Didnât Jay give you those?âÂ
âUm. Yes? Answer my question, Heeseung.âÂ
âI actually told Jay to buy you those.âÂ
âReally?â
Heeseung nods. âHe was freaking out. He didnât know what to buy you. I, as usual, was his savior.âÂ
âOh, well, thank you?âÂ
âItâs fine,â Heeseung smiles, his eyes crinkling. âAnd to answer your question; Iâve always wanted to kiss someone in the rain.â
â....Okay but why did we have to get soaked?âÂ
âIt makes the kiss more romantic.â
âHow so?âÂ
âWant me to show you?âÂ
God, you donât think youâve ever smiled wider. Youâre pretty sure youâre splitting your face in half with how wide youâre smiling. You must look ugly. Hopefully Heeseung will still want you. âYes. Please.â
So, Heeseung shows you.
He kisses you.Â
And heâs right. Heâs so fucking right. You should start kissing Heeseung in the rain, while soaked, more often.Â
He kisses you, and you stop shivering. He warms you from the inside out. Heeseung Lee is officially a genius. He should get a Nobel Peace Prize for kissing in the rain.Â
âWow,â you say, pulling away. You feel Heeseungâs thumbs brush over your cheeks as he cradles your face so gently. âYou were right.â
âAlways am. And for the record, I love you too, I accept your apology, and Iâve loved you for thirteen years.âÂ
âWhat? No you havenât! Iâve loved you for longer!â Heeseung is a liar. He is a freak. There is no way in hell heâs loved you longer than youâve loved him. Seriously, how blind and stupid are you? For all you know, you and Heeseung couldâve been in a twelve-year long relationship by now. Damn. You feel sick all of a suddenâŚ.curse you and your stupid self. You should ask your mom if you got dropped on the head repetitively when you were a baby.
âYes. Iâve loved you for thirteen years. I remember when I first felt it. We were at Jayâs. It was barbeque night. You grabbed the ketchup bottle and it exploded all over your top. One of the funniest moments of my life, but it was also the moment I started loving you.âÂ
â....Thatâs not fair.âÂ
âNothing in life is fair.âÂ
âYouâre such a loser.âÂ
âSays the one who ran away after finally kissing me.âÂ
âCan we not bring that up?!â you whine.Â
âOh, Iâm gonna bring it up for the rest of your life,â grins Heeseung.Â
âLetâs break up.âÂ
âNo,â Heeseung says, and kisses you again. âAlso, I was expecting more of an extravagant way of professing your love for me,â he says after drawing back from the kiss.Â
âOh, I had something planned. I was going to make my kids, one by one, enter your classroom with a rose and hand it to you, and then I was gonna get the band to play "I Melt With You" by Modern English while I get down on my knees and profess my love for you.âÂ
Heeseungâs face lights up like a Christmas tree. âReally?!â
âNo.âÂ

Caryn Pines, whose still alive to witness her little free spirit Stanley miraculously rise from the dead. The Stan twins buy a brand new sofa that extends into a bed just for her, so she doesnât have to make a treacherous journey up the stairs. Itâs her own slice of heaven, seeing her babies get along like they did when they were children. Seeing her grandchildren parallel to their uncles; Dipper, studious and reclusive, Mabel, crafty and eccentric.
It all comes to a head when Caryn wakes up at the witching hour. Thereâs ruckus being made in the kitchen, pushing herself upright and cursing at everything under the sun as she grabs a broom. Sheâs ready to beat whatever creature made the mistake of entering her sons home â pausing at the sight of her two sons.
âWe need to put a lock on the sugar. I donât know if my stomach can tolerate another Mabelâs Guide To Cooking experiment.â Ford grumbles. He opens the fridge, taking out a lemonade pitcher and pours out two glasses.
Stanâs chuckles. âMhm. I know where you could get some sugar.â
Ford rolls his eyes at the cheesy line, having heard it a million times before. Thick fingers hook into the band of Fordâs boxers to reel him close to Stan. Ford narrows his eyes, raising an eyebrow as both his hands are preoccupied with glass, the condensation wetting his palms.
Stan grins, leaning in to steal a kiss.
It lasts for a mere few seconds before Carynâs screams bloody murder.
The twins pull apart as if theyâve been electrocuted. Lemonade glasses crash into the sticky hardwood flooring, as they both snatch the nearest possible weapon. Stanley, an animal spinal cord with itâs ribs still attached. Stanford, a lamp.
âMom? Mom, whatâs wrong?â Stan asks, putting the bones down and taking a step closer. Caryn clutches the broom like a lifeline. She can only stare at this-this monster thatâs inches closers with every step. He holds out his hand, presumably to take away the broom from her clutch. Motherly instinct kicks in, to protect Stanford from his own twin. Her arms rise to strike Stanley down. âOw! Ow! Mom â that hurts! OW!â
âYou freak!â Caryn screeches in agony and anger. Stan goes frigid underneath the safety of his arms from his motherâs blows. He looks down at his mother with her fury in his eyes â Stanley thinks sheâs talking about Stanford. âYouâre a monster!â
âI know itâs - OW! - the old age talking.â Stanley growls, one hand grabbing the handle of the broomstick. It only infuriates her further. âI donât care if youâre our mom. I wonât let you talk about Stanford like that.â
âMom, itâs really early in the morning. I think itâs better if we talk about whatever is bothering you with some breakfast.â Ford tries. They think sheâs stupid. Sheâs known everything about them. How could she miss this? Ford places the lamp down, stepping closer to de-escalate the situation. âPlease, stop hitting Stanley.â
âI saw you kissing your brother!â Caryn screams.
The twins freeze.
Caryn turns her focus back to Stanley. Thereâs no love for him anymore. Not for this depraved abomination corrupting her sons innocence. She tugs at the broom and the handle spilts in two. âHow could you do this? After all the pain and misery you put us through, how could you?â
âMom, Iâm sorryââ Stan starts.
Caryn doesnât let him finish. She thrusts the broom handle forward like a sword and lets the splintered wood make a flesh wound into his left shoulder. Stan yells in pain, hand coming up to cover the bleeding.
âYou ruined your own life! And now you youâre trying to drag your brother down with you!â She tries to strike another blow but misses as he stumbles backward, falling flat on his ass. Ironic, that even as he raises his uninjured arm to protect himself, itâs a strikingly all-to-familiar position. As a child protecting himself Filbrickâs coropal punishment.
Ford steps between them then, using himself as a shield to protect Stan from any further harm. âYouâre worse than Filbrick. At least he wasnât a fucking pervert for his own family! I want you dead, Stanley. DEAD!â
Ford takes the wooden handle out of her hands without a fight, tossing it away. Silence fills the room, none of them knowing what to say.
âGrunkle Stan?â Dipper calls from the kitchen entryway. The three of them snap their heads in his direction. He stands there with a bat in his hands, Mabel tucked safely behind him with her own grappling gun; looking worriedly at their bleeding Grunkle. Stanley scrambles onto his feet then, walking past the younger set of twins.
âStanley, wait!â Ford calls for him. He raises his hand in a futile attempt to reach him, feet frozen in place as he lets the distance grow further. Thereâs the sharp sound of a door slamming, followed with a car speeding away from the Mystery Shack.

relationship headcanons [ price ]
SFW
- Heâs definitely your reliable neighbour who has become your impromptu repair guy whenever something goes wrong
- Whether youâre younger or the same age as him, youâre smitten by the man who wears fitted t-shirts and a set of dog tags
- Only at a summer barbecue, a few drinks deep did he finally make a move on you after you insult yourself, âOi, for someone so beautiful you speak rubbish,â taking your face in his hands and giving a quick peck to the lips
- He was still your neighbour but you started seeing each other.
- Loves to cook for you, heâs romantic like that
- As well as living room picnics on the floor and candlelight homemade dinners.
- Heâs not one for going out and buying food; he loves seeing you smile and hearing your laugh
- After getting home from being on base, he just wants to cuddle on the sofa with you in his arms and watch tv
- Blanket hog- you always wake up in the middle of the night cold
- Until he tackles you in a bear hug, forgetting about the blanket theft on the morning.
- A full English waiting for you as you get up, the sweetest look youâd ever been given.
- Loves matching pjs
- Drives whenever you go on trips with your hand on his thigh, âcheekyâŚâ
- Definitely has a fireplace
- Lives in the country side and collects firewood from the forest nearby and teaches you how to chop the logs properly
- Takes you on long walks with his two dogs
- Yes they are rescue dogs
- And yes, they are tiny. A dachshund and a pug.
- You didnât know whether or not you loved the dogs more or John
- Actually helped build his own house and decorated it by his own accordâŚ
- Though, heâs glad when you add your own personal twist- new cushions, curtainsâŚ
- Everything so him, he fell in love the day you bought a new duvet set for the bed
- Always wanted to be a dad, it was never the right person or the right time
- He has a room not too cluttered for that exact reason- for a nursery.
- John isnât a bath guy, he has a massive shower which can hold two peopleâŚ
NSFW
- He was a gentleman when it came to sleeping together the first time
- Unfortunately for him, he didnât know what heâd gotten himself into because you were far from gentle with him
- Nails scratching into his chest, riding him on the kitchen table the first dinner date. Dress and heels on, his shirt unbuttoned while holding your hips for dear life.
- That night you did went eight rounds with a bull, so gentle with his hands but yet so brutal using those hips.
- All culminating to lying by the fireplace, cushions and blankets dragged down from the sofa. Your head on Johnâs naked chest, drawing patterns on your skin. âShouldâve warned meâŚâ
- You rolled to face him- hand firm on the hairs of his chest, About what?â His finger wiping the hair from your eyes. A mischievous glint in those flame-kissed eyes.
- âAbout how fucking dirty you areâŚâ His hands orchestrated you atop of him, cock steeled once more and with hunger driving you wild, hilted it inside of you. âThatâs it, sweetheartâŚâ
- So attentive during sex, if you ask to stop- itâs not even a question.
- Loves fucking you in his 1980s 4x4, specifically in the drivers seat- reclined and riding him.
- He may just love cowgirl a bit too much.
- Heâs a tits guy, doesnât care what size they are. He just loves to worship them.
- Loves your lipstick stains covering his neck and chest
- Blowjobs with lipstick on, heâs a gonna with that. Hands guiding you up and down, telling you how good you were doing.
- A big foreplay guy
- Eats you out for days and has very talented fingers
- Heâs been with a few women so he knows what to do and has mastered the arts

Christmas
Hardersson x Child!Reader

Summary: It's Christmas
Christmas in your house is a fun mish-mash of Momma and Morsa's childhoods.
In the days leading up to it, you sit at the dining room table with Momma, who helps you make Julehjerter (Christmas hearts) and Julestjerner (Christmas stars) to put on the tree.
It gets a little tricky sometimes with all of the folding but once they're done, Momma gives you big kisses and helps you put them up on the tree.
Decorating the tree is usually left up to Momma and she keeps the colours fairly traditional with reds, golds and greens but this year you manage to convince her to extend it to white and silver when you come back from Coach Emma's office with a little Julestjerner made out of silver wrapping paper because that's all she had.
But your absolute most favourite part is lighting all of the Christmas candles on the days running up to Christmas. Momma lets you hold the long match she buys carefully and guides you to catching the candle wicks on fire.
She and Morsa take you out to see the big lights in town and they bundle you up nice and warm and Morsa even gets you a proper hot chocolate made with milk while you're out.
Your Christmas is a little different from other people's Christmas in England because they wait until Christmas Day to open presents while you only have to wait until it gets dark on Christmas Eve.
You help Morsa make a julbord as you wait for everybody else to arrive.
Not many people have gone back to Sweden to celebrate this year so they're all coming over to your house to celebrate.
"Wash your hands, princesse," Momma says from where she's finishing wrapping everybody else's presents. She's not allowed to help cook because Morsa says she might muck something up so she's been put on wrapping duty.
You help Morsa season the ribs and make the special Christmas ham look nice on the plate before you dutifully go to put it on the table. She makes her special pickled herring too (you never get to eat it unless it's during Christmas) and she lets you sneak one of the spicy sausages early.
The doorbell rings as she takes the potatoes out of the oven and you eagerly try to peek out the front window.
"It's Auntie Stina!" You announce, bouncing on your feet as you wait for Momma to heave herself up from the sofa to open the door.
"Hey!" Aunt Stina says as you crash into her, smiling. "You should leave the door open," She says to your Momma as she picks you up," I saw ZeÄira and Johanna trying to find a parking space."
She takes you back inside with her and takes a deep inhale through her nose. "Smells good. Pernille didn't make any of this, did she?"
"No," You say," Morsa's in charge. She's the cooking boss! I helped!"
"Did you?" Stina asks," Well, I'll make sure to enjoy everything." She passes you the bag she's been carrying. "Can you put these under the tree?"
ZeÄira and Johanna arrive soon after, followed closely by Auntie Lina. They each give you presents to put under the tree and Morsa makes you give them all drinks before you can fill your plate with what's on the julbord.
You do a happy little wiggle as you finally tuck in. The adults are all sitting on the furniture but you're happy on the floor, legs crossed and back pressed up against Morsa's feet.
There's a Christmas movie on to keep you occupied as the adults talk around you and you gorge yourself on second and third helpings.
"Is the sun down yet?" You ask, knowing that as soon as it properly sets, you can open your presents.
"Not just yet, princesse," Momma says fondly, handing you the bottle of fancy adult drink that you're not allowed to have," Still a few more hours. Can you fill up Johanna and Lina's cups for me?"
You move over to do as you're told and are immediately tugged into Auntie Lina's lap and tickled savagely by Johanna now that you're trapped.
You nearly spill the bottle as they jostle you but keep a firm hold on it just as Morsa announces that it's time for dessert and your captors release you to eat more.
You're semi-distracted through dessert, tracking the sun as it begins its slow descent.
"Sun's gone!" You report from your spot by the front windows. You look at Momma. "Presents now?"
She pretends to think for a moment before nodding. "Go and hand out everybody's presents," She says," And then you can open your own."
You speed around the tree to make little piles for everybody before settling between Momma and Morsa to open your gifts.
A lot of them are books you read at bedtime or new games and toys. There's a set of paints from Momma and Morsa after you came out of Coach Emma's office one day having spent the whole day painting a picture of the two of them with you at the park (complete with Morsa wearing her Not-Wolfsburg shirt and Momma wearing her Wolfsburg one).
Johanna gifts you a new torch for your room that you can put special things over to make shapes of dinosaurs with the light on the wall. Stina gets you glow-in-the-dark stars to stick on your ceiling and Lina gets you a new ball.
"Gloves!" You exclaim," Thank you, ZeÄira!" You shove your new keeper gloves onto your hands and clap a few times, turning your beaming smile to look at Momma and Morsa. "New keeper gloves!"
"Thank ZeÄira properly," Momma reminds you and you give ZeÄira a big hug and a kiss.
Everyone stays for a few hours after presents have been opened and you get to go to sleep in the Big Bed because Christmas day is tomorrow and Morsa's feeling more lenient.
Christmas Day isn't as exciting as Christmas Eve but it means you get to karrysild on rye bread and ĂŚbleflĂŚsk (one of the few things Momma can make) and then play with your new gifts before Momma and Morsa bundle you up nice and warm for your little walk in the park.
"Alright," Momma says in the backyard with you," Do you remember what ZeÄira told you?"
You nod. "Doesn't matter if it goes in, just as long as I try."
"And?"
"And to roll if it hits me because of the force."
"Good. Okay, ready?"
You nod, excitedly bouncing on your feet as Momma readies her shot.
"Ready!"
