Brewing up @edencosmic’s fingerless gloves/wristwarmers and hat, made from extra Grover yarn from @itswilwheaton’s Muppet Hug Blanket. First, a nice wash in Soak soap, then blocking. Eden, the hat fits my giant Scottish head snugly, and I don’t know how much slouch you want in the hat, so I am blocking it on a small bowl. You can widen the brim and make it as big as you want by wetting it with cold water, and experimenting with larger bowls and even plates. You won’t hurt it. #nofilter The #Muppet hug blanket for @itswilwheaton is finished and in the washing machine, soaking up some lovely gentle Soak no-rinse wash. Then I will block the corners a little, because the crochet made them tighten up and pucker in a little, look all over it for woven in ends that popped out, and it will be going home. I’m going to kinda miss working on it, no lie. It’s been comforting making something that I know will make someone else comforted and happy. It turned out to be a weighted blanket—it’s 7-plus pounds. It’s huge—I made it at worsted gauge on larger needles with two yarns held together on purpose—I wanted it to be exactly what I named it, a huge fuzzy hug, and more than enough to be shared on movie nights with @annewheaton or the boys. Unblocked, it’s four foot by 8. 😳 The waves in the middle are on purpose—the pattern made it extra squishy, it increases and decreases by 200 stitches throughout, making Muppet-like lumps. The cooors were chosen from Muppets from my and Wil’s era, the 70’s and early 80’s—Sesame Street and The Muppet Show: Kermit, Big Bird, Herry, Prairie Dawn, etc. If you look in the stripes carefully, you’ll see two Muppets recreated, Ernie and Bert. Grover finish line for your Muppet Hug Blanket, @itswilwheaton 💙 I am on the second and final round of crochet, and while my crocheting is much slower than my knitting, I am on the home stretch. Next is a gentle washing (it’s machine washable), a double-check for any thing amiss, and it’s coming home to you and @annewheaton. It’s so soft and squishy. The two @knitpicks blues—one a darker heather—mixed together in the border perfectly to make Grover. @itswilwheaton’s Muppet hug blanket is “movin’ right along”! I was just going to do large color blocks, but I saw an opportunity (which often happens in knitting) and inserted a full Ernie in all of his glory. Next color is Kermit green. The colored yarn is @knitpicks Brava that corresponded to 1970’s old-school Muppets, including overlooked intrepid reporter Prairie Dawn. The Muppets are Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, Cookie, Prairie, Kermit and Herry. The fuzzy yarn that gently variegates from lightest beige to brown—the Caron Latte Cakes—adds the furry aspect as a carry-along. The pattern: the Elm Avenue Throw Blanket by #laurenscungio and #loopsandthreads. It creates squishy sections with intense increases and decreases. The family masks completed from my engineered #facemask pattern from Jonathan Beall’s Old Shale Face Warmer pattern. Pictures: 1) Mom wearing hers to her doctor’s appointment—she received compliments from every health professional, so my work here is done 💁🏻‍♀️ 2) Mom’s laid out, with my mother-in-law’s in grey underneath 3) my mother-in-law’s inside-out, so you can see the pocket, and 4) me wearing my Dad’s. I have decided that the best extra barrier, should one be desired, would be disposable gauze bandages, the kind you tape on a cut. Fold them up, slide them into the pocket, then throw them away when you’re home. If you don’t want to do so, there’s still two layers of thick, worsted-weight cotton there. As written, (link below) it fits my big Scottish head, and so fit my Dad. I reduced it to CO 76, removing 3 repeats of the K2P2 rib of the neck band, for my mother and my mother-in-law.
