Some things about me

My guilty pleasure shows are standup comedies yeah like I didn't expect to like John Mulaney's Baby J but I did. Also Impractical Jokers (their stuff leaves me going "I can't believe they just said that" aaa I love it)

I love songs that sound like people talking ish because they're easy to sing along to

I love songs that have a very band-like sound if that makes sense? Like when the drums hit hard or when the sounds are so music. Yeah love those

I love romantic comedies. My favorite ones would have to be 27 dresses, Set It Up, Confessions of a Shopaholic, and recently I enjoyed Destination Wedding! It was so well done but I feel not everyone would appreciate it. I also

Love Keanu Reeves. What a man.

I like making things because it's the closest thing to magic and the only thing I can do with the love I have in my heart. I feel it got worse when Darren died. There's not enough words in the world to bring him back and not enough gifts to show how important his presence in my life was. I guess I started giving more because they're only in my life for so long. Not just due to death but because of stuff like distance, dreams, obligations, etc. I'm not the best at keeping in touch.

My favorite color is gray actually not green. Maybe out of sentimentality. I feel like I look good in it but because of the weather I don't wear it a lot. It's two things like me, a color made out of non colors.

I don't date because I don't think I feel love like normal people. I don't know. I think it's nice but then get confused. I guess I've never really seen myself with anyone. I think people want to be loved so bad they settle for anything. I can't see myself wanting something like that (well, now at least). I've been alone my whole life. I don't think another person would make much of a difference.

A lot of my emotional support non-fiction people have killed themselves, died young, lived in solitude. Anthony Bourdain. Sylvia Plath. Mac Miller. Franz Kafka. Fernando Pessoa. How do I tell them years later it doesn't really change that much? How are they still making sense? Why can't I be more normal?

I write out this list because lately no one cares enough to ask. No one really wants to know. I'm sorry.

The termites did give me an excuse to throw out a book I've been wanting to get rid of for a while. It was necessary. I've held on to it for too long. Sometimes goodbyes really are good.

Love is Hard for Otaku

Someone had uploaded all the episodes and OVAs outside the paywall in BiliBil* (bless their soul) so naturally I had to watch it all over again.

I remember this scene striking me the most. It's from the 5th episode where they all meet Hirotaka's younger brother for the first time and no one had told him yet about Narumi and Hirotaka dating. His relief when he finds out is so endearing. Hirotaka had always kept to himself. In numerous parts in the series, they would describe him as a solo gamer with great skill. Probably honed from all the time he spent playing on his own. As the series progresses, we see the extent of how much of his life is spent on games to the point that one would notice his routine lacks basic human skills like cooking and eating. He even mentions how there would only be food in the house if his younger brother, Naoya, visits.

Hirotaka lived a very solitary life. I used to think I found his character attractive because at first watch he off the bat gives off the cool, nonchalant vibe but after re-watching I find him more relatable. He is written with so much vulnerability that lonely people would be able identify the feeling from their theme park date (where he watches Narumi as a younger version of himself). A part of him wishing he had a more normal experience, that hard pill to swallow that compared to other people you are so many steps behind when it comes to intimacy. The constant doubt he has with Narumi is understandable since she has been through the motions of dating, falling in love, and heartbreak while Hirotaka is new to the process and still trying to understand.

I did learn from this show that love blossoms from a place where you can be yourself. I cannot add more words when thinking about how much this show matters to me and how glad I was able to come across it. I could only wish the be as fortunate as Hirotaka and find someone with the patience and understanding to meet me where I am while still looking at me with fondness. I read somewhere that what saves us ultimately, are the bonds we share in this world. Until then though, I guess I have to be fine with being alone.

Vinyl stickers 😶‍🌫️Hehe I put they everywhere. On my water bottle, my notebooks, at the back of my laptop. I learned life's too short for the right surface use your sticker now and let it serve it's purpose!

Yarn 😊 The more the better. As someone that knits and crochets, this is a big help for future projects. You can never have too much yarn as a crafter yessir.

Cute earrings 🥺 Much like yarn, you can never have too much cute earrings. It means so much when it was chosen by someone else as well. Earrings definitely give off a great vibe and I just love them.

Pens 😍 I always tend to forget things so I list them down as fast as possible. I try to have a pen in every bag so I'm ready. Another cute one won't hurt at all ✌️

Bookmarks 🔖 I have so many books (and I keep wanting to read more lol) and these help in staying motivated! The more obsurd, the better. I think this rule applies to most of the things I like.
