I have next week off yay! Meaning my workload just got cut in half! I'll use the spare time to make fictional characters so sad I'm so looking forward to it.

So I'll use today's long car ride to make myself feel super sick again from writing more outline on my phone. Fuck motion sickness I have some suffering to inflict on fictional people!

SHIT i forgot to say this, so now i feel bad for making two posts about sick things in a row, but MY HAIR IS GROWING BACK bitchessss 😍

lmao, so before I started chemo, I had my hair cut to a crewcut type of style. So my hair was about 2 centimeters long. And then when it started falling out, I never shaved it to actually be bald. I just started shedding. All over my pillow. It was so annoying. So one night, I just pulled it all out (and no, it didn't hurt - imagine pulling a clump of hair from a husky dog during shedding season) and I dumped it on my bathroom floor (my mom cleaned it up the next day because I felt too sick lol). However there were a few strands that were, for whatever reason, fall-out resistant. I didn't pull those strands out (because pulling those out would've actually hurt), so I'm not technically bald. Do a google image search of "Eleanor bald Good Place" and you'll see what I mean lol. Anyway so I have a few strands of hair just like Eleanor's, which at this point are all about 5 centimeters long. But new hair is also growing, but it's just a stubble. So, check out this faaaabulous illustration of what my hair literally looks like in the mirror right now lmao:

It looks JUST as dorkish as my drawing lmao. Makes me laugh every time.

Anyway lol, I hope you all were as intrigued about these hair anecdotes as I hoped you would be, because honestly I'm fascinated by how all of this has happened.

I got a bunch of art motivation earlier today and drew a bunch of actual drawings of some characters! The furry is Axol and the Four armed one is Koko! I have a third artwork but im gonna put it into its own seperate post cause it's gonna need a gore warning... at least a blood warning? These two are fine though.

I found a cool scythe pose on pinterest and changed it to a giant hammer thing cause KoKo uses a giant hammer as a weapon when it isnt using its claws or various other abilities. The arms are a little too short but if I do digitalize it I will fix that (I totally didnt run out of page space-)

I just wanted to draw Axol again and had no plan for his pose, I dont know what he's doing he just existing and being accidently spooky (He's very friendly but has a perminate sharp tooth smile and a giant monster tail and claws and uh... yee)

I didnt know if I should post these seperate or together but since I was already gonna post another artwork I put them together so Im not posting three things in a row

this messed up vintage cat sewing pattern has tormented me since i saw it & like some other folks have done in that post - i tried my hand at tweaking the pattern to resemble the illustration (and my personal tastes) a little more. i've ended up with this. i bestow it upon you nice folks now 👐

Start helping with citizen science projects

What's a citizen science project? Basically, it's crowdsourced science. In this case, crowdsourced climate science, that you can help with!

You don't need qualifications or any training besides the slideshow at the start of a project. There are a lot of things that humans can do way better than machines can, even with only minimal training, that are vital to science - especially digitizing records and building searchable databases

Like labeling trees in aerial photos so that scientists have better datasets to use for restoration.

Or counting cells in fossilized plants to track the impacts of climate change.

Or digitizing old atmospheric data to help scientists track the warming effects of El Niño.

Or counting penguins to help scientists better protect them.

Those are all on one of the most prominent citizen science platforms, called Zooniverse, but there are a ton of others, too.

Oh, and btw, you don't have to worry about messing up, because several people see each image. Studies show that if you pool the opinions of however many regular people (different by field), it matches the accuracy rate of a trained scientist in the field.

I spent a lot of time doing this when I was really badly injured and housebound, and it was so good for me to be able to HELP and DO SOMETHING, even when I was in too much pain to leave my bed. So if you are chronically ill/disabled/for whatever reason can't participate or volunteer for things in person, I highly highly recommend.

Next time you wish you could do something - anything - to help

Remember that actually, you can. And help with some science.
