The three go and return together wherever they go, both boys coming to pick you up at the entrance of your house and leaving you at the same even when classes are over! This pair makes sure you're in one piece by the end of the day.

The races to determine the unnecessary speed between you are never lacking. A few meters to enter the school, Hanma challenges them to a race to see who gets there first and you accept, and as always you do the countdown.

"Alright! in your marks, read-.. HUH?!

And before you know it Hanma took the dirty lead by shooting out first, taking the lead and leaving you biting the dust

"STOP, STUPID CHEATER!"

You run in search of him screaming complaints between laughs trying to reach him while Kisaki just keeps walking at his pace like the normal person he is, catching up with them minutes later.

At least three times a month they attend karaoke together. They try to use all the power of friendship possible to convince Kisaki to go together, trying not to upset him with his nonsense the previous days. After two attempts, the blonde accepts, renting the most minimal time rate they have to stop listening to the stormy concerts that you and Hanma give it.

It's natural for Hanma to bother you every day, almost as if that's his mission in this life. Sometimes it makes you very angry, is Kisaki who intervenes asking to stop. But once both stoics made you cry out of pure rage so you stopped talking to them for a whole week. They both spent that time following you around in silence and apologizing by buying your favorite sweets.

Hanma accompanies you to almost any nonsense you can think of, until it puts the three of them in a bad position. The bicolor loves the adrenaline rush, but if he feels that his asses can end up in difficult problems to handle he absolutely aborts the mission.

H&K are your protectors. Whether with intimidating looks/postures or verbal threats, both guys make it clear to everyone that you are their best friend and they can't try any moves on you. Yes, that's the way they are.

That's why Valentine's Days were really sad for you because, for some alien reason, you didn't receive any gifts or letters that day. Much less declarations of love or anonymous confessions. NOTHING. And the reason is that in reality, H&K were furtively responsible for eliminating (not literally) anyone who tried to make any move on you regarding the date, the two allying themselves to scare away and intimidate.

"I'm sorry, brat" explains the bicolor blocking the way to the classroom to the boy one grade below you "this girl is already busy"

"B-but I-"

"And don't try anything behind our backs, or you won't want to regret it later," Kisaki muttered, making the poor trembling boy pass out loud saliva when he clattered his knuckles noisily.

This is how your two best friends were always there to comfort you and fill that void of the day with walks or gifts only from them.

The three of them would run away from classes, but only when they are extremely bored of listening to the teacher.

H&K care a lot about your health, even if it doesn't seem like it. They offer you water or some nutritious drink, buy you breakfast and even make sure that you don't consume a lot of fried foods or sweets.

Their jobs are close to each other, so it's easy for the three of them to meet at a specific place and then stop by for a drink or just walk home.

The first time H&K saw you wearing a swimsuit for a beach meet-up that you organized with your friends, they gasped. Kisaki felt that her face would explode because of how good your body looked while Hanma quickly glanced at you every time you passed by him.

H&K are the kind of guy in love who contemplates you at every opportunity he can. Kisaki by his observant and discreet nature manages to spy without being seen by anyone while Hanma does it blatantly without caring if it's very obvious or not. You actually caught him once seeing you, and his reaction was to let out a little giggle and look away when he realized that you caught him. You could notice the soft blush on his cheeks.

They enjoy taking pictures of you doing random things. Especially Hanma (he has a whole album of you and kisaki on his phone), and only occasionally Kisaki warns for a good take.

"Take out your phone, Shuji"

"Huh? And for what the hell-?"

"Look over there, is y/n"

Kisaki points at you covertly, and the two-tone nods, catching his friend's intention as he quickly pulled out his phone. Seconds later the flash does its job. They both smile seeing you captured on the screen.

"Good angle" celebrates the blonde "very cute.."

"Yea' she looks fcking beautiful"

Yes, whether it's taking you or going to pick you up, taking a walk to the park for a while and things like that, at first H&K keep track of which one of the two has to share time with you. That's why it's not uncommon for you to feel that they take turns.

Kisaki would leave you a lot of small gifts throughout the week anonymously because he is embarrassed to deliver them to you in person. At first you thought it could be a stalker with ninja skills because you couldn't catch him in the act, but soon (and in the dumbest way) you found out it was the blond one (I have a little pov for this hc, I'll upload it after this!)

Hanma calls you "baby" most of the time, and would use adorable nicknames like "babydoll" or "fcking princess" just to annoy you. I'm not sure with Kisaki, I think "honey" might work for him. But both of them, without a doubt, call you "darling" a lot of the time.

Hanma, unlike Kisaki, is more concerned about your feminine needs. I feel like he has a sharper sense for that kind of thing. On the other hand, you can safely entrust the financial part to Kisaki because that man will cover all your whims.

Maximum princess treatment with some moments of rough love (the latter courtesy of Shuji Hanma). They like to pamper and pamper you a lot, just allow yourself to enjoy it.

On dates YES OR YES the three of you go together. And the one who is usually planning spontaneous outings is Hanma. For more important events that require more planning (such as special dates) Kisaki takes care of, for the rest of the outings/appointments he just gets carried away by the rhythm of you two.

Their plans for an intimate afternoon is to warm up the three of them together between sheets and sweets while watching eternal marathons of movies or documentaries (hanma falls asleep after two films and you always wake him up before the marathon ends so that Kisaki doesn't notice).

Their first date as official couples was at an amusement park by your decision. It was quite an exhausting day for the three of them but they would be able to repeat it a thousand more times if with that they manage to see the exact definition of happiness in each other's smiles again.

When you and Hanma start a tickle fight, you run away in the direction of Kisaki's private studio hiding behind him because he never allows Hanma to enter that place. And you know it very well. That place is your safe zone. But once you take one foot out of there your immunity ends, and Hanma makes sure to get revenge by cornering you between the sofa and him with no escape option. Kisaki gives a soft smile when he hears them laughing in the distance.

At the same time, you and Hanma are good partners, teaming up as an unconscious act to make fun of anything Kisaki says or does.

Broadly speaking Kisaki in a refined, calculating, thoughtful, more elegant and formal type than any ordinary person. In this way he manages to keep his surroundings (and his inner world) under control and at peace. But unfortunately Kisaki can not go against the hyperstimulated souls of their partners. So when a situation in which his presence is completely protagonist and necessary gets stressed. Specifically because the ideas you and Hanma come up with can become terrifyingly exhausting for him. Going to fairs, concerts, parties, birthdays and similar events these are some examples.

Kisaki harbors a buttery side that melts faster when she's resting in your arms, whether you're stroking her hair or listening to her thoughts out loud. Not with this he says that he loves you more than Hanma, only you transmit to him a greater warmth and security compared to the noisy and annoying immature actions of the languid boy. Hanma, in turn, gets cheesier when she's alone with you. He feels that he can release his more cloying cuteness with you because he knows that you tolerate that kind of treatment more, and that you are not going to reject him or get irritated like it happens when he tries to be the same way with Kisaki. Still, none of you have preferences, all three of you love each other equally.

Hanma shows them how much he loves them and how important they are to him by spending quality time together: walks in the fresh air, outings to eat, watching movies at the cinema or at home, playing with board games/video games, etc. Anything that allows him to share his time with the two of you he will put into practice. Kisaki, on the other hand, applies physical contact: hands on the waist, caressing sessions, linked fingers, kisses on random areas of the body, massages, etc. In these ways Kisaki tries to convey to both of you all the love and appreciation he feels for you two, showing you a side that he doesn't have with anyone else.

Of course, this pair is a dangerous bombshell of jealousy and possession. Oh yeah, anyone who tries to step out of the line or even flirt with you won't have any functional organ or limb left to tell about it.

They also don't like to share you with others, no matter if it's your family or friends. Hanma is the most impatient and impulsive of the three, he won't even spend two hours when he's already holding your hand to take you with him and get you out of wherever you are without letting you properly excuse yourself. Kisaki is more patient and serene, entertaining his mind with other things until he can't stand it anymore and demands that you return by means of a call or he just goes to look for you. You better not ignore this couple when jealousy gets the better of them, or you're not going to have a great time afterwards.

so something i dont see much online is how similar hyuna and luka actually are.

When we meet Hyuna, we get introduced to how upbeat and her free spirited personality, both in how she acts and in the song.

This in particular speaks almost in entirely of freedom and the desire for it. She sings about living her life for her and “a bird set free”. As obvious from her being rebel, everything points to how she desires freedom from the aliens and control over how she lives her life. We can also see this in a comic where she says the reason she enjoys singing is because on the stage she’s the one in control.

Already from a young age, control is something she has wanted, over her own life and her performances. And for her saying this, I think its even more interesting if we look back at All In. The majority the song takes place both in a bar where Hyuna is singing or the mission both Hyuna and Mizi are doing.

We already know that Hyuna likes to sing to feel the control over the stage when she’s there but I find it interesting that, yet again, the entirety of the episode was her demonstrating her freedom and control. There were even moments with her on stage remembering Luka and Hyunwoo and continuing to frantically continue singing as if trying to run away from them.

This could mean that rather than her just singing out of enjoyment of her control, she’s on that stage for the control. Almost like she’s desperately clinging onto that feeling to remind herself that she’s not weak, to run away from her helplessness as a child. Another reason for her to be on as many missions as she was shown to be, maybe another way to prove to herself she has the control and power now, not the aliens.

we can continue to see mentions of her trying to escape her memories in the song “Drunk and Party” as she says “I don’t wanna go back, everybody listen.”

Essentially Hyuna uses her own stage as a way to regain her control as well as her missions. Which is where Luka comes in.

In the same comic where Hyuna speaks about control on the stage, we see Luka as an adult on the stage as well, most likely during the 49th season.

It looks almost like hes remembering Hyuna’s words from when they were both children, which indicates that Hyuna’s reponse effected him.

In an interview about round 5, someone asked why Luka imitated Sua, and here is the response that was given.

Its told that Luka does this, not to win, but to feel control and dominance. Unlike Hyuna, who has many ways to feel this way and demonstrates it in almost every way of her lifestyle, this is the only way for him to do so. He is literally a puppet except for when he’s on stage.

The reason for Hyuna’s response being so important to him is likely that Hyuna’s attitude about singing effected his own. In the comic, kid Luka seemed curious about Hyuna finding control on the stage, showing that at that point Luka didn’t view the stage the same, so its likely that after their talk, Luka began to view the stage as a way to control.

This is how the two of them are similar, yet opposites. They both desire control and dominance in their lives and dedicate themselves to it, yet while Hyuna lives a life where she can easily do that, she feels no need to hurt others in order to do so, rather able to choose to help them as a way to feel powerful, but Luka doesn’t have that same choice. He lives life as a puppet, with no other way for control. His only way to feel in control is on the stage, so he takes his chance to and hurts the other contestant, purposely trying to hurt them as much as possible just because he can.

I truly believe that had their situations been reversed, where Luka was instead the purpose who got to leave while Hyuna stayed behind, theres a chance they couldve had completely different lifestyles. I also believe that they also, in a way, represent each path Till could take. If he were to stay in alien stage for the next season, would he turn out like Luka, someone who hurt others to feel in control, or if he was able to run away and become a rebel would he distract himself from his pain and constantly chase after that feeling of finally being free?

you spent most of your summer at the hughes lake house in Michigan, because your twin Hallie, was doing a summer internship in Toronto and was gone most of the time anyways, so you didn’t go straight home after the semester ended.

Therefore, none of the boys at the lake house, aside from the Hughes brothers, knew you were a twin. They just thought you had a sister named Hallie who was coming to stay for a few days at the lake house. 

You and Luke were still asleep, so instead of waiting for you to wake up, Hallie decided to just go and introduce herself to the boys that were sitting on the back porch. Her flight got in late last night, so she didn't get the chance to meet any of the guys yet. however, she has meet the Hughes brothers on multiple occasions.

“Morning!” Hallie said as she slid open the sliding door and made her way onto the porch. It was full of guys, and there were no available spots to sit. “Morning y/n” Trevor responded and Hallie just smiled. She wasn't sure if the boy just thought she was y/n, or if Trevor just genuinely didn't have an idea that she and y/n were twins. 

“Hey, you can come sit on my lap if you want” Jack smirked up at Hallie from where he lounged and the rest of the guys, minus Quinn, looked at Jack in shock. “Jack…” Cole Caufield trailed off with a confused look on his face. “Jack wtf thats y/n?” Trevor basically yelled. "y/n as in your younger brothers girlfriend y/n" Trevor continued, shocked that Jack would hit on his brother's girlfriend.

“Hey guys whats up?” you said as you walked into the unfolding scene. 

“WHAT THE HELL?” Trevor screamed standing up, he pointed an accusatory finger back and forth between you and Hallie, and then to Jack. Hallie, Jack, and y/n all laughed at Trevors gaping mouth that was sure to catch flies.

“I am so confused right now…” Cole whispered as Trevor started ranting about aliens taking over the Hughes house. 

“Trevor, Hallies my twin!” you laughed, effectively cutting off Trevors long winded rant. He looked like a mixture of shock and confusion.

Luke walked out of the house and wrapped his arms around you. he pulled you into his chest, and rested his head atop yours. 

“LUKE DID YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS?” Trevor was shouting again. “about what?” Luke asked sleepily. “That your girlfriend has a twin? Duh?”

“yeah obviously” Luke replied moveing his head to nuzzle against your shoulder, making you giggle. 

“Oh well thank god because we thought jack was flirting with your girl for a second there” Alex Turcotte piped up from his seat beside Jack. 

“You were flirting with Hallie? There's no way… Luke tell your brother to stay away from my sister” you said turning your body to face Luke. “Jack don't flirt with Hallie” Luke said half heartedly as he turned you back around and placed his head back against your neck. 

"so what are everyone's plans for the day?" Quinn asked trying to get out of this situation. he didn't want to hear Jack flirt with anyone, and he definitely didn't want to hear anymore of Trevors rants.

"no actually lets circle back to Jack flirting with me! I think we could come up with an arrangement or something-"

"NO! ENOUGH!" you yelled at your twin cutting her off, effectively waking Luke up. "we can't look alike and date brothers there's just no way" you groaned while pulling Lukes arms back around your waist.

"I don't know i think it could be kind of fun"

"Jack shut up!" you and Luke both said at the same time.

Just saw your post about demon trio GAAAHH they are my Roman Empire. The moment when Mouse approached Bad when he was brain resetting in a little patch of flowers he placed down, how close they shifted to each other, it felt so ALIEN and and and cool and I’m so NORMALLL. And when Tina splashed herself with perfume and when she had that role play moment when (idk if it was canon or a character) she was SO OBSESSED with going to heaven, I think she was born a demon, and SOMEHOW acquired religious trauma along the line probably as a child. Born a demon left at an orphanage door idk and they made all the kids go to church or something and Tina was OBSESSED because it gave order and meaning to her life but she was a demon and-

okay i TOTALLY agree with you have so many thoughts, i was literally just thinking the same thing last night!!! The absolute difference in upbringing as far as the demons really shows in how they act and i have sooooo so many thoughts about it!!!

So first off, i dont really know how old mouse is in terms of her lore but as far as BBH is concerned hes fucking weird and is constantly alluding to his existence extended FAR before the universe even existed, hell even time and space, we dont actually know what the fuck his deal in full is actually!!! What we do know is he was summoned to Earth roughly eleven to fourteen thousand years ago!

Mouse gives us not as much age-wise from what ive heard but she has expressed that she considers two thousand year olds to be "baby" not quite baby but like VERY young! (I have a personal HC that bad's summoning let loose a new age of demons, maybe not all at once but very quickly so mouse would probably be over ten thousand years old)

Tina gives us absolutely NOTHING she doesnt like talking about her demon ancestry aside from hiding it (when bagi said mouse taught her how to smell demons tina quickly panicked and doused herself in perfume, etc etc. nothing super explicit from what ive seen but im relatively new to her lore). But i personally have a hc that shes roughly three thousand years old, coming into existence around the Middle Ages in 1000 CE. That might seem extremely young but honestly thats what im going for for her!!! super extremely young!!! and born around the time when Catholicism was popular!

In my mind, they all have very much different reasons for acting the way they do and im soooooo ill about it

As a BBH main i have the most information on him so ill be talking about the lore i know from him first before getting into the other two lovely ladies!! So what we've heard from BBH is that he prefers to "hide" his demonic features and "blend in" with humans as much as possible if he can, obviously he doesnt do very good at this but hes old as shit and very powerful so like who's gonna tell him??? From what we've heard of his lore, Bad is the cause of a LOT of minor and major disasters in history; Mt Vesuvius (who he named after a dead lover) exploding, the plague taking out most of europe (which he was a plague doctor for), and alongside other major things theres some minor events as well! Small wars he's been present in such as the HG war he was in with cellbit very recently, various other wars he eluded to that he recalled "blended together" because there were so many, that time he went to medical school for 15 minutes just to do brain surgery on that president on a boat.... he also knows a lot of major historical figures and hes been EVERYWHERE, we actually have a rough timeline of where he's been and when just based on who he knows. He knew not only the fucking guy who created the study of viruses, HIS ASS KNOWS ISAAC NEWTON..... and i think once he alluded to knowing goddamn adam and eve, maybe even being the snake in the goddamn garden. Considering its cannon to his lore that he was the angel locked beneath the euphrates river i wouldnt be surprised at that point.

All this to say: Bad has been present for and had an active hand in a LOT of major and minor disastrous historical events, and hes repeatedly talked about how people would chase him with torches and pitchforks - even referring to that activity as "therapy" and said thats the reason he doesnt believe in therapy, because it hurts and doesnt do anything for him except get him running.

Bad does not personally feel shame about his demonic features, he's used to hiding them (or at least intending to.... hes doing a bad job at it) for his own personal safety, because his role as >>>>A) a demon and B) the fucking ferryman of death<<<< brings him a LOT of negative attention. Negative attention that he's had to deal with ALONE for a majority of his existence, up until about fourteen thousand years ago.** (**A major event i feel caused a new era of Demons, we will talk about it more through the post)

Moving on to Mouse; i mention bad's role as a demon having an affect on negative things around him because i honestly think that applies to all or most demons. I don't know much about mouse's lore, but i do know shes proud of her heritage to some degree, is unashamed to tell people shes a demon, and will even actively teach people things about her species (Bringing back Bagi again - We know in cannon Demons smell like Sulfur, its been stated pomme and dapper and bad and mouse and tina all smell like it, and we can assume empanada also does or is starting to).

I, to some degree, think the beginning of her existence was much more accepting and inviting, while bad dealt with his negative experiences alone, and tina had her own upbringing we'll get into, Mouse came into existence during a "Dark" age, when bad was summoned to earth there was a wave of the newest generation of demons being spawned into this world(not in a "father of all demons" way but more in a "large expressions of magic often lead to a ripple affect of more magic" way). A lot of shit probably happened, im not insane like badboyhalo im not gonna research what happened but theres probably some kinda major event that happened. Demons born around that era probably had some kind of support system or way of existing that was underground enough for them to not be wiped out, but they had enough freedoms that mouse and others probably felt comfortable enough to express demonic traits.

I like to think this was the era of her life that had the most influence over her existence, that she was created with pride and will ALWAYS have that pride in her species, it may be dampened but it will never go away fully!*

*I like to think shes experienced maybe some shame over her species when it comes to minor historical events that shes contributed to by just being present, but it very rarely lasts longer than the event itself.

Tina, as far as im concerned, is the youngest of the demon trio aside from their kids. I kinda write her akin to Amethyst from SU, her existence was very recent and she was alone with very little or no initial support system, she was brought up thinking she was "wrong" in some way, her teeth and nails were too sharp, and she has horns and sometimes her skin has a purpleish hue to it that make other people think theres something wrong with her. She has a VERY obviously christian/catholic upbringing which was brought to light recently in one of her conversations with foolish. She's always felt shame about her species and she probably would have continued if it wasnt for mouse and bad, but ESPECIALLY if it wasnt for Empanada.

I have my own thoughts on the demon babies that we'll get into later, but after gaining her daughter who is very much going to be a demon (two demon parents, obvious demon child lol) i cant help but wonder how tina's planning on pushing aside her feelings of shame to make Empanada feel welcomed and loved regardless of her species?

Tina's very young, of course shes seen some major events in history but shes never been raised in community, she probably didnt even know thats just something that comes with the horns until very recently! I can imagine bad and mouse joking and giggling about that town that they stayed the night in that caught fire the next day that they got chased out of a couple hundred years ago, and i can imagine tina being confused as to why they found that amusing, is that normal? Tina's always had minor disasters follow her, her home town very likely burned down or got sick following or preceding a major milestone in her life, and thats probably continued to happen over the thousands of years shes been alive! Being a demon brought up in a very anti-demon environment, whos to say she even knew there were other demons out there really? She was a curse from god, she brought nothing but poor luck and sickness to her household (which i agree with you she was probably residing in an orphanage), she brought it everywhere she went. I cant help but ask myself "did she feel relief that it wasnt just her, or even more shame finding out this is a common occurrence for demons?"

Now thats most of what i have regarding the parents but i have a few notes on the demon kids. I think all the eggs have some sort of demonic features, obviously bads a huge influence on all of them and they care about him as their tia so i draw most of the babies with horns and tails of some kind, but i am particularly focusing on Dapper, Pomme and Empanada, the three demon babies whos actual official parents are the demons.

I dont have anything too specific for them, but i do believe they will grow up to have an attitude towards their species akin to how Mouse acts.

Unlike other demons or even their parents growing up, they have a support system and parents to explain to them things that will happen to them as they get older! They'll have someone to come back to, who will explain "Yes, that village got the plague because you walked through it and the sulfur you spread supernaturally brought illness and bad luck. No, its not your fault in particular. No, you shouldn't stop going into towns and villages, its the 21st century and if they cant stop the plague by now then they were gonna die anyway"

When they inevitably get shunned by humans for their species, they have someone to come back to to let them know that that wasnt right, but its a part of what happens to people like us. Maybe some day we wont have to experience that anymore, but right now the most important thing is to not get caught, and come home to your Mama so we can give you bandaids for your knees and treat your wounds.

I'm so very invested in how the demon babies will be brought up by their parents, i hope we get more demon lore in the future </3

mizisua analysis :) (spoilers!!)

hello :), ik i'm a little late, but the mizisua video already released and here is a small analysis i made, this post will be divided in 2 parts: the actual analysis of the video and how it proves a theory i had, so without furder ado, lets start （。＾▽＾）

i think the video was a nightmare of mizi, my reasons are:

mizi and sua canonicly met at anakt garden, and we dont have information of them meeting before

it doesn't seem logical to me that mizi cried so hard when sua went away, taking into account it was the first time they saw eachother

at the end of the video we can se mizi layed in a couch, crying, as if she just woke up from a nightmare (i will talk more about that scene later)

other thing i noticed is that the video references certain parts of sua's amd mizi's story, for example, mizi being the one who approached sua while the melody of my clemantis (specificly the part of when mizi and sua met in round 1), melody that also reproduces when mizi and sua separate (and the part that played was the same as when sua died), that's why i think the video was a nightmare of mizi who reflected some parts of their story and how painful their separation was (ik it hurts ;-;).

at the end, we see mizi laying and crying after waking up from the nightmare, and since i was curious about that scene i edited the photo and i found some things :)

we can observe that:

mizi is wearing her round 5 oufit and her hair looks a little messy (like in the end of round 5)

she seems to be in a place that looks like if its abandonded, or slightly hidden, it looks like a hideout to me (or at least, not the place where the contestants would be kept before the next round)

there is an earth poster in the wall

taking this into account...could this mean that mizi is alive and she's currently in the hideout of the people who rescued her???? this seems to make sense but idk (i hope i'm right :') )

in previous posts, i mentioned that i had a theory abt sua, my theory is that sua was mistreated by her guardians and that mizi was the only person she ever loved, also sua knew abt the dangers abt alien stage, but decided to not tell mizi (if you want i could explain why i thought that). the video proves my theory bc it shows that sua's guardians never loved her (her situation is similar to ivan's/luka's) but it also shows that mizi's guardians were nice to her (could mizi be manipulated by them into thinking alien stage wasn't dangerous? maybe). finally, i would like to note how it was shown the differences between growing in a negligent/abusive enviroment and a loving one (sua and mizi respectively), i think the way it was shown and how it affected mizi and sua was pretty goood :)

hey em! how does charles' labour goes? are max and charles even jn the same country or does charles go back to monaco for his last few weeks? in other news, do you have a snippet of the new chapter for us yet?

they're both in monaco, I can tell you that much! it's during winter break so they're together and in the same place.

This won't be in the next update, it'll be in any potential sequel that gets written. i do have a snippet from the sequel for you though since i dont know how long it will take to see the light of day--probably a while, unfortunately. cw pregnancy discussions of miscarriage etc etc

The little scanner thing feels weird and alien, especially with all the blue gunk on his stomach that it’s pushing around. He thinks he might be holding Max’s hand too hard; his face is all pinched, and he keeps giving Charles worried looks when the doctor is looking away. That might be because of the panic that’s souring Charles’ scent. He doesn’t know. Not for the first time, he’s glad their doctor is a beta. 

“Alright,” she says, cutting through the silence. A blur shows up on the screen, grey and hazy. Charles looks away; looks at Max, who’s still watching, his blue eyes wide with wonder. 

“It’s turned around a little,” she says. She moves the probe again, and Charles’ abs jump. He shivers against the cold of it; squeezes Max’s hand. “There we go. There’s the head, and those there are the hands. Everything looks okay.”

“Charles,” Max breathes. He tears his eyes away, looking at Charles. Charles holds his gaze, frozen. He doesn’t dare turn around. He feels ancient; he’s been here before. He feels seven years old, refusing to look under his and Arthur’s bed in case it makes the monsters real. 

“There’s the heartbeat,” the doctor narrates happily. 

Max doesn’t look away from him. The wonder on his face slips into worry. He flexes his fingers, but Charles doesn’t let go. Charles squeezes even tighter, unwilling to let him move an inch. Max doesn’t wince, to his credit. He doesn’t even blink. 

“Is there anything wrong?” Charles asks her without looking away. 

She hums and moves the probe. It feels gross; he feels nauseous and too small, like he can’t breathe. His muscles hurt from how hard he’s clenching them.

“No, everything looks good. You have a very healthy baby.”

Charles bursts into tears. 

Within an instant Max is in his space, his shoulder beneath his cheek, one hand gently guiding Charles’ arm around his neck. “Can we have the room for a moment?” Max asks politely, as if Charles isn’t sobbing into his shirt. 

Charles doesn't register the doctor slipping out, just that the probe is gone and Max’s hands are on him, big and warm and safe. He shushes him gently, soothing up and down his spine as he murmurs a constant stream of calming sounds, and normally Charles would feel patronized for being taken care of like he’s one of Vic’s babies, but he needs this. Besides, when he pulls back finally Max’s eyes are wet. He needs this, too. 

“Charles,” he murmurs, hushed. “You didn’t say it was this bad.” 

“I’m sorry,” he gets out. 

“You have nothing to be sorry about.”

“No, I shouldn’t be scared. It’s bad for the baby.” His breath catches on a sob as he says it: ba-a-aby. He feels sick from all the sobbing, and the tears are stinging his cheeks. 

Max just shakes his head. He’s watching him like he’s trying to figure him out, even as he wipes away his tears with a tissue pilfered from the doctor’s desk. The tear tracks just get replaced with new ones. Max’s kindness always makes him cry even more, and especially now when he’s hormonal; he should know that by now. 

Charles sniffles, long and drawn out. Max is playing with the fine hair at the top of his neck in the way that always makes shivers run straight down his spine. It does the same thing here, even now, and Charles slumps into him. 

“I thought you were doing better after you talked to your mom,” Max says quietly. “Did it help?” 

“It helped,” Charles mutters. “It didn’t make it disappear.” 

“I didn’t think it would,” Max replies. “I just thought…why didn’t you tell me?” His tone is soft, like he’s talking to one of the cats. His touch is gentle. “I thought you would tell me, like last time.” 

“I don’t know,” Charles says, shrugging. He wipes at his eyes. “One of us should be excited about this. I’m excited, of course, but I–I have to worry. I have to think about it.”

“To think about losing it,” Max guesses, but Charles shakes his head. “Charles,” he sighs, his voice soft. “Tell me, please.” 

“Losing it but not knowing,” Charles admits, barely above a whisper. He fixes his eyes on the hollow of Max’s throat, refusing to look at him. “Sometimes it just dies. Having a corpse inside of me for weeks and not knowing, and then knowing and not being able to get it out. Or sometimes the baby is born with no brain or no head or no skull and it dies after an hour, or it has no kidneys and they cannot find a donor in time, and then they use the baby as a donor for other babies instead because it is not going to live. I cannot–” his eyes well again, and he pushes the tears away with the heel of his hand. When he looks up, Max is watching him with horror. “I need to worry. I will be ready if I worry. They keep telling me not to, but if I have to–to get rid of it, or watch it die, I want to be ready. So you can’t tell me–” 

“No,” Max cuts in, his voice thick. “No, Charles, I’m not–you’re allowed to worry. Come here.” Max pulls him in close, breathing like he’s trying not to cry. It doesn’t seem like it’s working. Guilt wells in Charles’ chest. Charles closes his eyes and presses his face into his neck, breathing in the familiar scent of him. 

“Are you not worried?” Charles says into his shirt. “You have to be.” 

“Of course I’m worried. I didn’t plan a life around a baby. I’m worried about losing you,” Max says, and. Oh. “I’m not just sitting here waiting for you to have a baby. You’re the love of my life. We’re partners. Please don’t protect me from things like this.” 

“You never said.” 

“I know.” He swallows, his throat bobbing. “I think that makes me a hypocrite, then. But we need to be more open with each other.” 

“You won’t tell me not to think about it?” 

Max huffs out a wet laugh. “That would make me a hypocrite, too.” 

“What do you think about?” 

His scent goes abruptly sour, fearful and sad. Max takes a deep breath, shifting them around to hold Charles closer. “Can we not talk about it here?” he asks quietly, even though all his muscles have gone tight. 

Charles nods against his throat. “Yeah,” he says, immediately regretful. He nuzzles at Max’s collar until he reaches the scar just above his collar bone; lingers there and waits for him to relax again. “Yeah. Later.” 

Max nods against his shoulder. He goes boneless as Max strokes through his hair again, their bodies pressed together except where the slight curve of Charles’ stomach holds them apart, and—

“Max,” Charles chides even as he relaxes further against him, “the goo. It is on you too now.”

“It’ll wash out,” Max says, uncaring. 

“You will look like you have been attacked by an alien when we walk out. You look like you fought a giant slug.”

“Have you been watching those weird horror movies again?”

Charles pulls away from him finally to look at him. Of course Max had worn something nice for once, ever-afraid of the doctors, and of course his four thousand euro designer sweater is now covered in blue goop. A little gelatin-like chunk of it is hanging from one of his pecs, and Charles flicks it off with a snicker. 

When the doctor finally comes back in she brings a new shirt for Max bearing the hospital’s logo. She politely turns around while Max strips off his old one. Charles doesn’t, and ogles him shamelessly. 

“These are for you,” the doctor tells Charles, handing him a box of animal crackers clearly pilfered from the pediatric ward.

“Are they not for children?” Charles asks, but he takes them anyway. 

“You are having a child, so it is kind of the same thing,” she points out. “Anyway, nobody stopped me. I hope you are feeling better. Is there anything I can do to help? Any questions I can answer?” 

The long muscles of Max’s back disappear beneath the heather grey cotton. The word VOLUNTEER spreads over his shoulders in massive font, stretching a bit when he reaches forward to fold the sweater with the goo on it. Charles chews his cracker slowly. Max looks back at Charles when the silence stretches for a beat too long; catches his gaze and then rolls his eyes, his ears going pink. 

“Everything is okay?” Charles asks finally. “No, um…spina bifida, or anencephaly, or…” 

“No,” the doctor says firmly. “Everything looks normal. We’ll continue monitoring, but if either of those were risks we would have caught them by now.” 

Charles nods. He pushes another cracker into his mouth; ignores the prickle of tears in his eyes. 

“And Charles is okay?” Max asks, wandering closer. “The blood tests are good?” 

“Everything looks good,” she assures them. “Charles, you’re a little bit lower on iron than last time. It isn’t an issue. Just try to eat a little more red meat. Do you feel okay?”

“I feel fine,” Charles murmurs. “Stressed, of course, but fine.” 

“That’s understandable. Just remember everything is normal. There are always risks, of course, but for right now it looks like neither of you have anything to worry about.” 

Max lets out a long breath and sags against him. Charles, exhausted, hands him an animal cracker.

Banban 7 teaser trailer dissection/theories

so banban 7 teaser trailer came out several days ago, and i decided i would try and pick it apart a bit and make a few hypotheticals about what it might mean

so the first shot is just banban on the ground covered in givanium, which is his blood. hes all scratched up, and so is the ground. his body has a new texture to show how damaged he is. i made a seperate post about what banbans fate might be so i wont go too in depth about it here. i hope this isnt the last we see of him though.

the next scene interests me way more. it looks like youre in a cafe of sorts, with aliens. they have coffee cups, pieces of paper, and plates, and some of them are laying on the ground, maybe dead? or maybe theyre just defeated and lethargic. more interestingly, the lollipops on the table are the same lollipops from syringeons room in banban 6, which may establish a connection. but theres more that indicates syringeon is somehow connected to these aliens.

it seems like this chapter will take place in a fake city called cityngeon, presumably made by syringeon. in the second picture it looks like the city itself is almost made out of cardboard. theres also an alien smashing its head against the wall.

in banban 6 we get information about syringeon. in case #14 update 15, it says that syringeon was likely the one to teach sir dadadoo and queen bouncelia how to make other genome beings. and in 6 we also meet the givanium babies, who refer to syringeon as their father. the givanium babies look similar to the aliens seen in the teaser, so i think its possible that syringeon created the aliens as well, and then created the city for them to live in. maybe theyre failed experiments, and thats why they seem so miserable.

this next part is really cool. it looks to me like youre going to get to guide the drone through areas that are too destroyed for the player to fit into, and use the drone to get to places you physically cant otherwise. i like that idea, and i hope its used for more than just this one scene. i also really like the visual style here of a more grainy, destroyed environment.

at the end we zoom in on sheriff toadster behind a fence. the room is dark but we can see a brick wall, and cardboard boxes. this adds to my theory that the city might be built of cardboard, because we see more in this trailer. i dont know what this could mean for sheriff toadster as a character, maybe hes an ally again or maybe hes gonna turn on us. i dont know. at the end syringeon attacks through a door. this brings into question if syringeon may be an antagonist or not. its likely he wont be, because we are trying to find him and get his help to save everyone, but we also dont know much about him. maybe he will think we're a threat to the scepter and try and kill us. maybe hes a nomad that only wants to work by himself now that the queen is dead. anyways thats just my predictions and brief analysis of this teaser. excited for banban 7 lets go

Ignoring that Johnny is NOT quiet, this was a vibe and a half for this wip of a horror take on night city that v listens as kerry narrates. i always like the way that cyberpunk despite their facade as cyber and punk, has a very folklore-ish story. there's a lot of scenes like when you meet alt in the net that feels mythical, you're trying to beat a 'curse', you're selling your soul to devils, you're reaping what you sow, there's whole side missions with summoning AIs from the dark web and pentagrams on the floor. also johnny's grave being in bumfuck nowhere prolly fucked him up and as consequence fucked v up too.

this song is my take on how v just goes through life. there's something about him being a really desperate animal trying to survive but also being ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ about his whole situation that he decided to go the 'fuck it we ball' route for his last few months that's really funny. probably why i like putting him in increasingly ridiculous situations.

this is seriously how i view johnny and v slowly getting closer and then deciding to have each others back because they realize the world's absolutely fucked and way worse than them combined. the whole "you're in charge, you can do it!" thing is just johnny hyping v up during the dont fear the reaper ending and you can't change my mind. it is my great wish that one day i'll manage to make the animatic so other people can see what i'm seeing in my head.

@cosmicallyavg okay sorry if you didnt want me to respond but the autism won today and i thought abt nothing but this for like 3 hours so

i think the doctor knows yaz has done/will do the same morally questionable things as her if it becomes necessary? because for her to be self aware about herself, and then also aware of yaz becoming her in a way. she has to assume that its a possibility. and asking her to hold the master at gunpoint is her testing that theory i think. because yaz very well could have straight up not done it but in the end, shes her equal, she admires her (and wants to impress her lets be real), and she has a duty of care. she knows/assumes how dangerous the master is and doesnt want anything to happen to Her doctor if she can help it. theres no use being squeamish weve got the doctor to save.

i hadnt thought of that angle but the doctor consciously sort of testing how much yaz will indeed do exactly as she herself would, and guessing right on that front is so interesting. i was reading 13s comics yesterday and she did it multiple times there too, like delegating to yaz for llittle minidoctor tasks like occupying herself with a victim like she does in witchfinders with willa too, and like just literally going "yaz, go play police at those aliens" (i said "be police" first but 1 no jurisdiction, and 2 for the doctor 'be' and 'play' are the same thing)

and when she gets yaz that gun, it's so interesting bc to me at least it feels like simultaneously theres the power dynamic of doctor-companion where yaz is definitely a step lower like shes not in charge here (compared to later with vinder) but what the doctor uses that power she has to do is to like place some of it in yaz if that makes sense? she's using yaz as a proxy of herself, which sounds bad but i think thats what shes doing?

like guns for the doctor are this visual sign that theyre going against their own principles right? it's not really the violence of guns that the doctor protests bc theyre plenty violent, but it's a visual representation of their principles right? we see this with 10 when he wont take wilfs gun against the master but when he hears timelords are coming he does. 13 being willing to use a gun on the master means shes willing to break her own rules to deal with him (which the doctor always kinda is with them thats part of the problem but i dont think it's in the "i forgive you one more time even though i shouldnt way" this time)

but also! she doesnt touch the gun herself. she orders a soldier thats at her command (actively breaking her own rules) to give it to yaz. ace talks abt this i believe in at childhoods end, to yaz. that like, the doctor is not opposed to violence but they will keep their own hands clean if they can. as opposed to 10 who picked up the gun himself, 13 lets yaz do it. and then later, bc of course the doctor cant shoot people, yaz lets vinder be the one to actually shoot the master. 

so 13 is outsourcing her principle breaking wrt the master to yaz, but i think shes aware of it. it's not like letting yaz handle the gun is eschewing her own responsibility, i think she doubles her feeling of responsibility, bc not only is she breaking her own rules, shes making yaz break them too (clara voice: and now youve made me lie! youve made me your accomplice!) which is why it feels so simultaneously like equal and unequal, yaz is both doctor and companion in potd.

(short detour abt what you said abt "theres no use being squeamish weve got the doctor to save" like yeah thats exactly it. i wrote a fic where yaz shoots the master and the doctor is like Why The Fuck Did You Do That bc while she expected yaz to take the gun (bc she would), she didnt expect her to shoot (bc she wouldnt), but that then maybe reveals a sort of distorted image she has of both herself and yaz. bc yaz did shoot, which means the doctor would shoot even if shes so dedicated to the image of herself as The Doctor that she might not realise that she would. and it reveals an underestimation of yazs feelings for her, and her sense of duty, and how far she will go, has gone, to try and save the doctor. the master is a threat, so she shoots (im thinking again of clara and 8x12 where 12 literally offers to shoot missy to protect clara('s immortal soul))

and abt that equality, like, there was this photoset i saw last week of bts stuff from s11 i think? chibnall talking abt the first meeting in the train. which was basically just like that post i made ythat you linked except chibnall was talking abt it from 13s perspective, which i hadnt considered dkdjdjdh

i saw your tags when you reblogged that post and i thought abt them for a bit but didnt respond bc i dont think i entirely agree? theres a definite, like, respect and i think recognition on the doctors side of things when they first meet and she does the thing i wrote abt in that post where she like listens to yaz and then presents her own plan and this first listening to yaz probably fixed a problem they might have had if she had just forcefully tried to push yaz out of the authority position she was in there as a police among civilians, where yaz might have fought for the leadership position the entire rest of the night and maybe rest of their time together (not that thats not also a fun version of events to think about) 

anyway to get back to the point, yes theres that respect, and the doctor uses yaz for her skills since the beginnig, but i dont really agree that it's equal necessarily. the power difference is too big and too easily leveraged by 13 for me to call it equal

when it comes to doctor-companion power dynamics the first thing i always think about is the tardis, because it's this really concrete and undeniable representation of that power right? you need this ship and you need this pilot or you are most likely never going home again. thats just like a fact at the foundation of most doctor-companion relationships (excluding companions who have their own means of transport or could fly the tardis maybe like river or romana). im not saying thats on purpose or the doctor likes it, im just saying when youre stranded on an alien planet and theres one person who is capable of making sure you dont die, doug eiffel voice: really really far away from home, then youre not gonna do anything that person doesnt want you to do. or at least youre gonna be hesitant to

so following the big bluish money (tardis), i think the real equality between them finally only really arrives

here. in their last scene together. where the doctor can say "you know what this means right?" bc yaz already does despite still not being told anything, and yaz can say "lets not say goodbye" bc the doctor is not good at goodbyes and the doctor is both of them

thats what really appeals to me abt writing them post-potd everybody lives happily ever after au, this partnership that we only ever got to see glimpses of. in a version of events where 13 lived after this, we could see what that partnership really would have looked like

Just had this crazy idea of a homestuck / mass effect crossover:

To start you have the Alternian Empire instead of humans, and naturally still get in a war with the Turians after the trolls shot first. I figure they'd be roughly on par for ground combat, but are a bit of Outside Context Problem in space as Alternian naval combat involves industrial scale psionics and non eezo ftl (I think troll ftl can still use mass effect induced from psionics to make it easier for ships to be pushed at past light speeds).

Alternia rejects all attempts at diplomacy that isn't surrender until one day they suddenly announce a peace / cease-fire (but theyre still keeping any systems they took) and are sending an ambassador to the Council for 'military coordination' and 'defense agreements'. Can you imagine their reaction when the ambassador arrives, who would be a fuschia, maybe Feferi, and explains that the sudden about face is to prepare to fight against the Reapers? And this was "ordered" by the 'god' of the imperial cult.

So the trolls would be an old enough race for their early or near sentience phase to be at the same time as the reapers, and Gl'bgolyb remembers it- and probably the previous cycles too if she was there since the planet formed. And Feferi would be if not grimdark/grimdark adjacent then very obviously a "cultist" of some sort to citadel people. Also fuschias don't have to fight to the death automatically, its still an option if they want to try for the throne but for the most part they're the penultimate level of imperial bureaucracy, administering multiple systems and such.

Unfortunately, I haven't thought much about what happens after since I dont know mass effect that well.

I'm embarassed it's taken me a while to get to this because something about this made the dopamine go ZOP!

i'm still perpetually salty about human exceptionalism being such a norm and partially present in Mass Effect's earlier entries so anything that gets the uninteresting primates with an entitlement complex out of the way is of course of interest

That honestly makes perfect sense; the Turians are well suited to fighting the trolls in a ground-based or one on one context, as from what we see in canon, their extremely ruthless attitude towards warfare makes them good at just fighting the trolls directly as opposed to canon humans continually escalating. It's also VERY similar to the way the turians fought the krogan, who have similar physical capability to trolls and even a similar explosive reproduction that allows them to waste troops with the piles of bodies strategy of just throwing disposable soldiers at a problem.

I REALLY like the sudden twist and, if this was a narrative story, I think this might be a good place to start it since its full of interesting character bits to set off around this point; everyone is confused and has no idea what the hell is going on. The implicaiton I get is that Feferi has recently taken her position, in response to the revelation about the Reapers.

I think making fuchsias not unique and instead being the chief administrators makes a LOT of sense and works really well for taking the trolls into a space opera or even a relatively hard-ish sci fi setting. I would also say that Feferi's cultist status would probably be a bit weird to the Citadel but, funnily enough, something they can work with; in canon we see that they're no strangers to alien religions and tend to accomodate them, and in fact this is QUITE similar to the batarians, who are often religiously motivated, but the trolls would actually be easier to deal with, as the batarians constantly have friciton with the citadel aliens wheras this isn't really a factor here, from what i can say.

I DO know Mass Effect extremely well so I can offer a lot of thoughts. My first thought is, assuming humans are not present at all and trolls occupy their narrative position, that Commander Shepard is a troll here; POSSIBLY a fuchsia for maximum coolness, but narratively i can see the appeal of them being a lowblood of some sort. Unfortunately, the heels you wore started to make your feet ache. It was uncomfortable, but you pushed through the pain. I WAS TORNNN between leehan and taesan doing this, but for the sake of it leehan could definitely be the type to also do this. (but instead of letting you ride his back, he’d wear the heels as you wore his shoes.)

the thing that stands out to me about the "less trans" "theyfabs" (and I agree with you that this is an important phenomenon that we need a word for, although I'm weary of "theyfabs" specifically because so many people seem to be taking it as a reference to afab enbies in general) is that they're literally just what terfs would do if they maintained their same values but became much smarter about what kinds of sacrifices to make to forward them. there's a ubiquitous type of misandrist pop feminist ideology that's very flattering and easy to believe for many women who have only ever lived as women and very hard to counter for many men who have only ever lived as men. (personally i would say that it's feminism as a whole that's bad, but given all the motte-and-bailey-ing around it it's certainly more palatable to call it "midandrist pop feminist ideology"). i think the trans movement has real potential to throw a wrench in all this, but the hard counter to this is cis woman radfems discovering the One Rhetorical Killshot that lets them keep basically all of their female privilege while also picking up the-pros-but-not-the-cons of trans cred, changing nothing meaningful about their lives. literally what personal sacrifices have the type specimens of this trope made to be themselves? alienating less progressive family members at thanksgiving? I'm pretty sure they would find another way to do that actually. I'm pretty sure that's part of the draw. and when they say shit like "misandry is a cringe word, by which i mean approximately that misandry is cool and good actually", i am pretty sure that comes from the exact same place and is targeted in the exact same direction as before

I found myself in a world populated by beings who looked exactly like me but the way I acted was alien to them. I later would realize my insides were equally alien to theirs. I ran into frequent problems with these beings, that of communication, socialization, nourishment, and even dermochemistry - they had objections to the clothing I wore and the way I walked. I took it upon myself to, like the known anthropologist Jane Goodall, attempt to camouflage myself as one of these beings for further research. I did my best to act, dress, and talk like them. But it wasn’t enough - they could tell a copy from the real thing. I realized I had to go deeper - truly understand how these beings ticked so I would be able to fully replicate it from the ground up. Luckily, I had plenty of fictionalized first-hand accounts of these beings’ lives from their art, books and films, which I had devoured voraciously. But one such piece of art hanging on my wall bears the quote “Knowledge without experience is just information. Mary Englebright” After long study I was able to ascertain that the quote meant that information must be put into practice before it can be truly understood. Without the tools to be a being myself, I set about studying them, not just superficially, but paying great attention now to WHY they said and did the things they did, why they acted such a way in this situation, why this person acts differently than this. Using their concepts of empathy and imagination, I tried to picture myself ‘in their shoes’ (an expression meaning to stand in someone else’s shoes, to take up their place in the world) acting that way, and why I might do such a thing. In art, people are often motivated by ‘feeling’, a concept I still can’t quite explain. But as I imagined doing that thing and ‘feeling’ how I believed they felt (through study of their words, facial expressions, body language, and  actions, and cross-examination with various texts), I suddenly could conjure a situation from my own life where I had acted similarly. This behavior WAS understandable in its own fashion. Through repetition of this technique, I began to understand the once-mystical why of these beings’ behaviors. But the question of why they treated me so harshly when I first arrived still remained. The answer I came to was that they had instantly believed that I was one of them and couldn’t understand why I didn’t act the same. After all, in the most superficial of ways we were identical. Could it be? Was I really one of these creatures all along? I began to apply the technique in reverse - when I was in certain situations, did I detect evidence of these ‘feelings’ within myself? Butterflies in my stomach, hot flashes of anger, uplifting joy? These things I had always read about - I was shocked to discover them within myself. At last! I had the answer! I was never fooling my fellow creatures into believing I belonged among their number, I was fooling myself into thinking I didn’t! So many things that set me apart - the way I dress, the things I love, the way I talk - so easily discarded! I was human!

Thank you for asking about Hyuna, its a unique choice because I feel like shes both enigmatic but also gives a lot of material for how little we've seen of her! I ended up rambling, so let me just tuck this under a...

Thinking about her Even A Little Bit can send me into a spiral of character speculation, but I wouldnt say thats exactly headcanons--thus, I didnt mark that for her! And I really need to make my character speculation post, itll just be genuinely SO LONG for even one character, much less the six of them, lol, kdaljbnadfkjn- orz

I definitely have the feeling that Hyuna will be a very active in the plot, so thats why shes a BEAST, shes going to go ham somehow, trust me. Putting her in a salad blender is about the same as putting her in Alien Stage, and the squeaking and holding her gently in my hands pretty much sums of my feelings whenever I rotate Hyuna in my brain. Ultimately, IM GOING TO BE HURT WHEN SHE DIES, BECAUSE IM PRETTY CONVINCED SHES GOING TO DIE, LOL.

I actually genuinely thought Hyuna was going to live or even potentially take Mizi's place as the MC of Alien Stage, but due to this art and a moot pointing out thats MIZI and not Hyuna (due to the outfit), I can only assume Luka and Mizi meet (as implied in the art) because Luka BEAT HYUNA in their match, so.........

Its a fairly interesting twist if thats the case, because I think that based off Hyuna's apparent desperation to survive and disdain for Luka, itd be easy to assume she would win. Its just going to be sooo sooooo sad for me because I KNOW shes going to have a breakdown and/or try to lash out in her last moments against Luka when she loses. In her brief depiction singing in Sweet Dream, Hyuna looks like shes SINGING HER HEART OUT, and imo, that tells me that despite the hatred, Hyuna can possibly respect Luka enough to give them a fair match rather than straight up trying to murder them. I also think Luka is probably going to win in their match by virtue of Luka's been hinted to be kind of famous and the votes will be purely popularity rather than consideration of effort, quality, passion, etc....extra pain. c:

In my optimism, my current thoughts are: Hyuna vs. Luka happens and Hyuna dies (likely), Hyuna vs. Luka happens and Luka dies (not unlikely, just significatly less likely than I thought before), Hyuna vs. Luka happens with Hyuna losing but she manages to escape (Very Optimistic, Extra Badass Points For Her Tho), or Luka actually battles a rando in the first set of rounds, while Hyuna is an outside force for Alien Stage/trying to sabotage him (fun but honestly a stretch).

Expanding on the last option above, I think its too soon for Luka or Hyuna to die, especially since we dont know much about either of them. Hyuna being an outsider also would make every match in the first set of rounds unique in their own way, as Round 1 establishes, Round 2 has murder, and Ivan's round would serve as a baseline of whats normal (if it goes as I speculate, lol). I also think that Luka and Hyuna are both from an older generation of Alien Stage contestants; thus, one could argue that would make their round unique enough on its own. But I still think itd be perceived as a "standard/baseline" round too similar to what I assume Ivan's round will be. Thus, the last option would have Hyuna be an outsider with no risk of being killed, while Luka also lives by steamrolling their opponent, lol. As both of them provide backstory and thoughts on the other until they actually interact~!

BUT! I think the unique factor could also be fulfilled by the opportunity that Hyuna vs. Luka happens but she escapes, Ill definitely take that. Especially since it seems Hyuna is going to sing AT SOME POINT (Sweet Dream)... If Hyuna can escape, hopefully she can just survive the entire series afterwards, lol.....

Thats not even getting into how I think their dynamic is, how they view each other, and/or how they got to viewing each other that way, but nonetheless...I think a much of that is definitely more speculation and would honestly not find it toooooooo worth saying here because we just dont have that much info of them to work off yet. after reading your great analysis of FACE, I still can't really see a full-fledged queer narrative in it. Besides the basic separate elements, what I do see after reading the lyrics and analyzing how the album is structured and seeing what Jimin has shared about it, is a break-up album. To me, with the way the songs are ordered, it tells a story of a person coming out of a troublesome relationship and having to deal with all the leftover baggage of it [ external and inner], told in a very universally relatable way, not really seeing a very queer outlook on it. and I don't see anything bad with that hs. we all kinda agree that music/sound wise,, jimin is a bit boring lol, and to me in this instance also thematically, but not everything has to be LIE or Taemin's want, for his first solo endevor I get it. I also don't discourage any queer readings of it!! But I don't get why are you so against readings like this? it lowkey reminded me of chungking express or fallen angels

ok so. The point of my post wasn't necessarily to try to argue that the song unequivocally is about queerness. It was just a look at the narrative and thematics that reflect themes of queerness, such as the overlapping of loneliness and desire. I honestly don't really think expressing sexual identity was the main goal of it. It looks at Like Crazy as a discussion starter, or a refraction of this specific experience of alienation.

The reason I take issue with interpretations of it that are like “this is about a break-up!!!” is bcs like. It goes against what Jimin himself said. I think it's entirely possible a break-up could have inspired Like Crazy or other facets of the album. But the point is that each song is an internal monologue. In no song on the EP is there a clear recipient or witness. The song is about Jimin for Jimin. Each of them explore inner struggle through the use of point of view and seemingly deliberate language that gives the impression of a recipient. FACE blurs the lines between audience and self by turning the concepts of a fan song or love song or breakup song on its head to discuss internal despair, helplessness, loss, abjection, desire, etc. Jimin himself describes FACE as a way to “[...] introduce Jimin’s true feelings that I didn’t bring up anywhere else. I looked back on myself and honestly expressed my […] emptiness and loneliness.” The main thesis of the album is loneliness, and Like Crazy acts as a subversion of it through the avenue of what sounds like any other synthpop club love song. Everything from the music video to the choreo indicated something internal - there is no outer force or source of conflict to be seen. And I think that's a very deliberate choice for something that could very well be just a horny love song. I'm not trying to reach and pretend FACE is Want by Taemin. They don't even have the same purpose in the first place. Not everything has to be something else. It's just glaringly evident to me that, while lots of aspects can have many different means, the core of FACE is to discuss an inner dialogue of a man whose entire existence seen teenhood has been as a media object and uses media tropes and a listeners expectations as an avenue to discuss something so incredible intimate and vulnerable as loneliness and personhood. Which is a thesis that a "break-up album" narrative not only ignores but belittles.

TLDR bcs this ask feels patronizing so im sure you dont actually care abt what i have to say about it: Can FACE have been inspired by a break-up? Yes. Is that the point? No. Whether it is queerness or heartbreak, the perspective is inwards and persistently abjected. Why is the concept of self-affirmation so foreign to you that you can't conceive of an inner dialogue and an idea of alienation that is experienced as something outside of relations to an other?
