the whole laine situation is so.......... idk. i get why cbj players wouldn't be happy with him publicly basically saying they're okay with losing (EVEN if some ppl there are like.. no way every athlete on that team likes being put in that light). regardless of rumors that float around the league or whatever abt why someone leaves, it's one thing to actually cite it out loud and on paper as a reason you want out, and imo it doesn't look good on you. i feel like most nhlers know how to graciously be like "yeah, i wanted a fresh start somewhere else" when they leave an org even if they have other issues internally, but people who can't fathom why an org or why teammates of the guy wouldn't be happy with their effort and motivation being called into question like... this is pro sports. columbus already probably struggles to seem like a team people Want to go to, so idk. i think it's tacky from him to do that.
in the end, it's funniest of all that he's went to the fuckjdfs montreal canadiens after saying he was tired of being around people who were too comfortable losing. like.... that's a joke in itself.
#saw lots of ppl be like THEY WERRE HEAD HUNTING HIM ! ! last night in threads and then 1 tweet in theyd be like 'but i didnt watch'#like oh okay so ur all jsut-- flkdsjfkls#like i kinda get it but also. kinda reflects badly on him imo like can u not just go quietly lmfao#u got what u wanted. whats the point of that lol esp when ur now still on a perennial loser.#u can just say u like the culture better without the digs like lol#him saying hell leave it up to the imagination ! abt who he could be talking abt like. thats just gossipy work#i didnt have any bad feelings abt him before but now i kinda do tbh lol#i have no stake in this honestly in the end but. its still weird#saying columbus would just give up and start prepping for next year like ohhh so what are the habs doing now then !#flkdjsfkls like. the standings. why would u say any of that i djnkfeds

On Adam’s and JJ’s 1st anniversary, he definitely got her a promise ring and he made such a big deal out of it because he knows she’s the one for him
im making it a necklace because she can't wear a ring while playing but can wear a necklace
tw for softness. just soft
so i cant remember exactly when i said they started dating
but i think it was the spring of there freshman year, maybe after the umich season ended
so now its after a dissapointing end to the jackets season, and sure adam is on the top of the calder talk, and ended with good numbers for a rookie but he honestly just wants to do something nice for JJ who has supported him through everything
so with the help of taryn (who happily facetimes him while he looks for the perfect gift) and he finds this necklace, its small and not to flashy, something just for her because not many will notice it.
"i have something for you," adam whispers as the couple lay on his couch cuddling after a romantic candle lit dinner and a day together in Columbus,
"adammmmm" jj moans sending her boyfriend a look. adam smiles nuzzling his head into the top of hers,
"i couldnt resist jo," jj rolls her eyes as adam shifts and pushes himself up and off of the couch, "stay here," he coos kissing the crown of her head before he jogs off.
hes not gone for long before he's kneeling in front of the couch,
"so uh i found this, uh in nyc, and after taryns confirmation that you'd like it i uh went back and got it for you," he hands her the long cartier box, "well both of them. they're two," jj shakes her head as she gently opens the box.
"oh adam," she coos looking at the two necklaces tears in her eyes, "why would you? these are..." adam smiles,
"cause i love you so much jj. you've done so much for me this past year and these well they're just to remind you how much i love you," jj bites her lip as tears begin to fall,
"this is... this is to much mo," she runs her fingers over the necklaces, "i cant wear these, they must be worth so much money," adam cups her cheeks wiping her tears,
"they're insured," he jokes causing jj to burst into laughter,
"oh thats hilarious," she says through her laughter. adam just chuckles with her,
"well can i put them on you?" jj stops smiling at him,
"yah," she mumbles gently handing him the box and turning around so he can put both necklaces on her, "still cant believe you fucking did that," adam smiles and kisses the back of her neck where both necklaces are clasped,
"wait," he says suddenly, "i got the matching ring to the longer necklace," he runs off again and returns with it on his left ring finger,
"mo..." she says tears appearing again, "you're insane," adam smiles and kisses her gently,
"insane for you,"

Emi Plays Revue Starlight: El Dorado Part 4
what's the point of having carmencita be a role that shows their face/has diff outfits if she shows up like once to do nothing and then dies
meanwhile the bit roles who show up quite a bit all look like this
i was hoping they'd at least put whoever's playin them eyes on there
wow alejandro sure caught up to salvatore fast for being at least a half day behind
iskjdfhks its very funny that salvatore first hires zulfikar to help kill alejandros dad and then alejandro goes n hires zulfikar like 12hours later to kill miguel
mm and the play ends. at least this isn't super long so going back thru it won't take too long
and it does promise different script depending on who is who so. yay gon have to find all the new songs on spotify i got star darling and one other one but there's more in the bg. oops i did not mean to close it. anyway. 2nd go around time

not quite as dramatic a reaction of frustration for kaoruko n maya as it was for junna and karen lmao
lesse....junna and karen as leads had nana miguel, mahiru isabel, futaba carmencita, kaoruko cavallero, maya columbuc, and claudine luigi
for kaoruko maya leads, we get futaba miguel, claudine isabel, junna carmencita (based off who's left) karen luigi, mahiru columbus, and nana cavallero
kaoruko WHY are u sighing so much that u got the leads kjfhkjshdf
oh ok they got asked to say a few words as leads and now kaoruko busts out the ojou-sama laugh. there she is
snort
i don't believe you
maya: i refuse to be as cringe as you
i am curious, what on earth does kaoruko have to revenge against maya
and claudine v futaba idk that either. mahiru v nana i do lol.

KJSHFDKJHSDF THIS IS SUCH AN OLD REF.....ALSO WASNT IT ONE WHOLE LOLLIPOP MAYA THAT WAS LEFT IN THERE

lmaoooo maya knew futaba was gon leave the bike with kaoruko that's hilarious. national troupe trio secrets ftw
maya: get a bike license get a license kaoruko: i think NOT maya it's very funny u are trying so hard to get kaoruko to ride the bike but she MAY wreck it
sjkfh the last one is funny bc im just remembering her being put in the 'knock them down a peg' class in whatever stageplay for the new national
maya's alejandro sounds like a 12yo shounen protag lol
skjdfh eroge ok masai id u say so
skjfhkjshkjfhskjdfh innocuous. u are Very Wrong judy
karen thats not the point-
tru kaoruko and hikari have that in common
tho at least kaoruko's easier to get back
sfkjhsdf at least karen n junna bother to let ppl know they're off somewhere. kaoruko n maya just disappear
fair nuff kaoruko
fkjsdhKJHKFJH
SNORT NOW SHES THE ONE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE DISTANCEkjshdfjh demanding kaoruko get a bike license
'and if you don't, i will!'
kaoruko just going WHY skjfhiuhsdf i mean. it is a silly demand just bc kaoruko poofed. i mean u DID find her maya

Sometimes I like to think about the fact that in 1492 Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue but like, honestly, that is such a random historical fact that has for reason gained relevancy like it's common knowledge now that the vikings landed in the US before Christopher Columbus and also like uh maybe the literal native Americans hello????? Like just cause everyone in England was too busy fucking inventing new ways to kill eachother to realize like oh shit there's more land over here doesn't mean that the America's were some sort of huge discovery, like why the fuck do I even care that Christopher Columbus existed other than the atrocities he committed being bad. It's not even a particularly relevant history to the America's if you ask me like the colonies sure that's kinda relevant thats when Europeans started to immigrate but idk I think I would have just liked a section that taught native american history. Like the most I ever got was the Thanksgiving speech and even that shit hole lesson was conceived by an ass hat who had no idea what was going on or trying to needlessly dumb it down for me. Very frustrating. I think that sometimes we spend a lot of time trying to dumb things down for kids, and lord believe me I know that some kids out there do totally need it to be dumbed down, but like, nah man immerse them kids in a cultures and educated enviornment so they can grow up and recognize parallels between the lives of people past and their own experiences. There are so many modern examples of happenings in the world that we can look back to history and say "wait, haven't we done this before?" Maybe that's the nature of humanity, to be in an infinite loop of constant fucking up and repeating out mistakes, but I'd really like to believe that we're more than that, that we can truly learn from our past and our mistakes if only we open our hearts to the possibilities. Sometimes, it seems like it's surely too big an ask to be even remotely possible, but such is our burden, the burden to try against that which is impossible. Every day we wake up and face the horrors of our reality, the mundanity of life, and though it may be a struggle, ultimately we do find ourselves doing our little tasks and serving the capitalism gods above us. We do this in spite of our eminent ends. Maybe we don't always recognize that, we choose to not constantly think about how any day can be our last, but it is a fact that we celebrate in many ways. With each passing year we celebrate birthdays, both for the monumenntous occasion of our entering into this cruel and beautiful world, and for a grim but subtle reminder that our time here is but a trial. And sadly, no one knows when it's going to end.
Maybe that's what makes our little lives precious, of course there's all the rest of being a person and Yada Yada Yada, but I find that there is something uniquely human in our determination to face everyday despite the literal hard wall of the inevitable. Often, instead of feeling down, though I have down days too, I feel inspired to create, to pour my heart out into these posts or to write a hilariously bad piece of poetry. That too is a burden in of itself, a constant battle of wanting to outplay my own past experiences, to one up myself in an infinitely scaling tower of incredible mind numbing expository greatness, or to somehow eventually create something so profound that it doesn't just touch your heart, it shatters it. I think it's hard to convey emotion through any medium, how is it possible that great artists can use the forms of music or paint or word to twist us up? How can I surpass their ability to give you an emotional and mental experience like no other? How can I wire to you, directly, the feelings that I have? I want to blow your mind. I really do. But it's hard to constantly reach that level when sometimes all your brains wants to do is be like hehe hehe froggy. So I don't know, there's a lot of things I don't know. Like
The primordial soup right
DNA was just forming
How did that happen? Obviously there's theories but like imagine being there in person to see it. It would probably look like nothing but still, that could be cool. Isn't it scary to think about how we're all nothing but constantly running chemical reactions? Everything including us could be reduced to simple cause and effect. Like, you say bazinga, cause I asked you to and the effect I'd that it would cool I think
B*zinga (derogatory)

Great Family Photos || Wedding Photographer Columbus GA
A Blog By Wedding Photographer Columbus GA
My business is really wedding photography so outside of that I don’t do lots of family photos. I do however do them for previous clients. In fact my couples are typically so happy with my work that they call me whenever they need family or newborn pictures and I’m happy to oblige them.
The number one concern with family photos is getting the kids to cooperate, especially when they are younger. Will they cry, will they do what you ask them to? Are they going to be rude? Will they get dirty? Whenever little ones are involved then the work can become a little “what happens now” if you aren’t prepared. The upside is I’ve always managed to get great photos even when these things happen so this post will give you what you need to relax and enjoy your session.
How do you do this you wonder? The first step is just practice. I’ve had hundreds of family sessions and I can use that experience to our advantage. The rest is just employing these three little steps.
Get Them Ready
If your kids are old enough to understand what is going to happen tell them about it before it happens. Let them know they are taking family pictures next week, where you are going to hang them and how nice it is to have reminders of them as littles. Children thrive on knowing whats going on and making them aware that you want a nice picture of you all to hang above the fire place and that there is a nice treat for them if all goes well will typically enroll them in the success of the session.
I might even suggest going so far as asking them where they think the best place is to take a picture. It let’s them know they are part of the process and that always smoothes the way. If you do this, give the distinct choices like the park or the beach. Don’t make it open ended unless you have a gateway to the set if their favorite cartoon lol.
Get Into It!
Get involved with your children for the majority of the session. This is why all our portrait sessions are at least two hours, it gives you the time to be free form. When you engage with your kids they are at their best and they become a lot less conscious of what’s happening around them. Give them your attention for a bit and you’ll end up with golden moments.
Kids Are Going To Be Kids, So Let Them Be Kids!
The title of this section says it all. Don’t spend to much time making the kids stand still and do formal poses. I recommend 5-10 minutes of those kinds of shoots and then 20 minutes of letting them be themselves. This what you really want, is pictures of your family being themselves. The best way to get that is to interact with the children and let them lead the session with their strange and wonderful ideas. Give them piggy back rides and play catch and push them on the swings. Thats where the magic happens!

so columbus day is a Big Deal in spain (... duh) and I sorta kinda absolutely abhor ✨everything✨ about it <3 so we're inventing a new holiday. What is the holiday about, how to celebrate and why is it important?
This is an anti-Columbus household! welcome!
I need another cozy holiday sometime in February or March? Like, I am a complete freak about Christmas but once that ends, where I live, there’s still like three months of winter with, like, just Valentines Day to brighten it up and THATS SO SAD TO ME. I need another charming, homey, stay inside and read by candlelight holiday vibe that Christmas invokes.
Like maybe a mandated Snow Day? I need to workshop this further!
What about you?

Its only been a few days but quitting fgo is such a my skin is clear kind of feel. Just I got no enjoyment out of it and it felt like more of a job than my actual one. I had been feeling it for a long time but I think honestly Tunguska opened me up and made me realize that its just absolutely miserable for me. To go from the amazing peaks of Avalon le Fae only to then get smacked with back to back stories that struggled to achieve mediocrity when they weren't just plain awful and how reading the new stories and events or seeing new characters just filled me with apathy at worst or a short lived but strong disgruntlement.
Like genuinely having stepped back and away from it outside of that minority of events and the well written main story chapters I just never really enjoyed my time with it. I did briefly when it first came out back in 2015 but that was more as an extremely janky mess but new fate material I was interested in what it could be or bring to the table than what it was at the time. Throughout part one I only think I ever really felt...anything besides just a chore I have to get through with a couple of the boss battles. The Lion King's was part of the triumphant climax of an arc and I was happy to do it even if I obliterated her in 1 turn with Caesar, Altera and my newly gained Saberlot. Babylonia was just immensely fun and then that shift to Mesopotamia eith the lahmu and Tiamat was hype and I found myself enjoying battles for once (except the annoying Ushi one).
I loved the time temple because of the social aspect of it all. The memes and jokes and fanart made and shared. It was nice. It reminded me of one of the reasons I love online gaming and multi-player games (and why I want to get back into mmos even if my eyesight, free time and frankly interest in actually playing them are all working against me).
And that pretty much repeats I find myself struggling to get motivated because the battles themselves just bore me so much and having to do so many of them to read the story quickly burned me out so more often than not I dragged out completing it over a good 6-7 weeks.
I found myself invested due to my repeated failures and struggles against that fight against Columbus and Megaros near the end of Agartha. The duels of Shimosa got my blood pumping even if they were mostly easy. The fights against the Crypters and (some of) the Lostbelt Kings were done well. They're an entirely different affair from the rest of the game while still using the same mechanics and it was *fun*
I loved fighting and figuring out what I should do to beat Cernunos in LB6, the fights against the Olympians were often frustrating but I still had a ton of fun puzzling them out and wondering which God would be next and how wacky their mecha form would be.
But as great as those moments were they were very much exceptions and I found more often than not that I had to psych myself up to even play it at all. The devs responses (when they bothered to respond) and the community: I've met some absolutely amazing people thanks to the FGO community- I also however wouldn't trust most FGO players anywhere near a school of any kind for a disturbingly long list of reasons. And then others just don't know how to act or interact with people at all.
So to kind of bring this to a close (he said, like a liar) I suppose in the end that what truly kept me going through this for the most part was my investment in the story/potential story and the new characters or perhaps new twists and journeys for older ones. And while we've gotten that and some of it is breathtaking and heart pounding and jaw dropping! But then thats at best a third of the story content in the game. With most of the remaining two thirds just being alright but same-y and somewhat forgettable jokey events. Most blur together or are only distinguished by joke x but this servant says it or joke z but the person getting mocked uses it on themselves! And I guess just the sheer quality difference between content in the way we did just forced me to open my eyes.
If I bother to play FGO (when I can be bothered to play it) because of the story and characters why am I sticking around when most of the story and characters aren't really being used or used in a way that relates to who they're supposed to be at all?
So yeah I no longer play Fate/Grand Order. Whether that's NA or JP. I'll still check up and follow it at times and I'll hear news whether through my Twitter feed, people I follow on here or just some of my friends who are also big Fate fans sharing things they're excited or mad about. But in the end my Grand Order ends here. I can't say it was all great (in fact I've said the opposite) but in the end I'm still glad to have had it.

I TRIED TO REBLOG THIS AND TUMBLR SHAT ITSELF SO LETS HOPE I DONT ACCIDENTALLY DO THIS TWICE
(I was gonna do this all as a comment, but then i remembered i type too much, so here it is as a reblog instead)
I will say, Clone High (even the original series) is intended to be heavily ironic. It's supposed to mock high school teen drama shows (I'd say the reboot does not do it as well as the original series, but thats personal opinion).
I'd say sometimes though, there is iffy-irony, where when you look at it face-value, it appears to be mocking that thing; when in reality it's mocking how others respond to that thing.
"Snowflake Day" is a good example of the iffy-irony. At face value, they look like they're making fun of the idea of all-inclusive holidays. In reality, they're mocking how other medias respond to that.
I mean, they call the holiday "Snowflake Day". Which clearly is mocking the insult "snowflake". Likewise, it's supposed to be an all-inclusive holiday, yet I'd argue the story follows a lot of Christmas stories if anything, esp "A Christmas Carol" in specific.
The episode is intended to mock shows, movies, commercials, etc that try to be "all inclusive" for holidays, but in reality just end up defaulting to Christmas because they refuse to learn what other holidays are about. The episode is not mocking the idea of an all-inclusive holiday. It's mocking those who do the "all inclusive" thing, but don't actually manage to, and just end up being rude in the process. Mocking those who try to be inclusive, but just end up calling everyone "snowflakes" in the process (figuratively, but still)
Likewise, a lot of the clones in the original series worried about not being able to fulfil the role their clone-parent held. Abe constantly worries about not being as great as the original Abraham Lincoln. Joan has an entire episode where she believes she's becoming in contact with god like how her clone-mother was.
And while those clones could never fulfil those roles, it's because they AREN'T their clone-parents. Abe isn't a natural leader, nor a mediator, nor a strong person. Joan doesn't have contact with god.
Honestly there's probably a lot more example I just can't think of because it's been a hot second since I last watched the original series.
But yes, clones always are worrying about their relation to their clone-parent.
In the newer series, for example, we're introduced to Topher Bus, the clone of Christopher Columbus. Topher DOESN'T want to identify with his clone-father, because people don't LIKE his clone-father. That's why he doesn't go by Christopher, he goes by Topher. And he worries about that dislike so much that he doesn't even go by "Columbus".
Speaking of the new series...
I... don't at all like how it's going so far. I've only watched the first two episodes because me and my girlfriend watched them, but I do not like them. I feel as if going for the "woke gen z" joke is pretty low hanging fruit. And it gets very fucking annoying.
At the same time, I'm aware that it's probably supposed to be mocking series nowadays that try to go for that "woke, all-inclusive cast/story", but just end up being rude in the process. Mocking the series who try to be all-inclusive... but end up calling everyone "snowflakes" instead.
Much like how "Snowflake Day" does.
Now, I do think they can portray this better. And I also think they could work on Harriet's character.
What I THINK they're doing is making a mock on studios who make "woke black girl" characters simply so they have a good shot of appealing to left-leaning folks, black folks, and feminists. Ofc, I am not in their heads. That's just my speculation.
Clone High has always been a show about irony, and mocking highschool teen dramas. There is a LOT more examples out there that I'm not listing because I've already rambled a lot.
Now, they do NOT always do this irony well. There are times I'd argue that they could do far, FAR better. There are times where I think their jokes fall flat. And as I've already stated, sometimes they go for low hanging fruit, even when they mean to be ironic.
I don't much like the new series so far, but I do hope they're reading things online to see how they can improve.
I think the best thing they could do is try and note their irony more. Which I know, that's not the point. But if your irony is getting LOST because of your desire to stick to a joke, then you need to better reflect your irony.
Ofc, these are all personal opinions. Clone High, as a show, is a bit hard to judge. Sometimes they do not properly express their irony, and it becomes hard to tell if a joke is a mock on what studios do, or if its an insult to real people.
It's sad to see how the original series, as wonderfully clever as it was, became so attached to low hanging fruit. The "woke gen z" joke is such an overdone one. If they aren't mocking studios here, I'm gonna sigh so hard. They did better in the past.
Idk how to wrap this up, and ig just so it's known: I'm not disagreeing with you, cuz I agree, Harriet couldve been done SO much better. I'm just stating my feelings because tbh I haven't rambled and I'm looking for any reason to ig.
Watching the new clone high just makes me want to kill myself harriet tubman feels so fucking racist . Why the fuck is she talking about "not wanting to be a boring stay at home wine mom" and "not wanting to live in her super -serious clone mothers shadow all the time :(("
fuck you. I understand why indians protested mtv.
Like youre telling me the writers are literally making fun of "woke gen z" in the first few episodes and make harriet a woke gen z black girl... But then she denounces her relation to harriet tubman?? Idk. Yall could have at least made her funny like ghandi

that movie u watched for ces. give me some hc’s about them.
THE MOVIE IS JUANITA AND ITS ON NETFLIX GO WATCH IT AND THEN BEFORE THE ENDING MAKES YOU ANNOYED GO AND READ MY EPILOGUE FIC. THIS HAS BEEN A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT.
i’m gonna put the hc’s under the cut cuz sorry i went insane i love them a lot despite my rarely thinking about them lmao
juanita moves back permanently to paper moon and runs the restaurant with jess after she visits california
they move in together cuz jess isn’t gonna let her get her own place on her own that’s SILLY but she isn’t gonna live in his run down dusty-ass trailer home so they compromise and get a little house down the street from the restaurant
at first juanita doesn’t want to get married because she had such trouble in the past and she’s older but jess has never been married and like. he really freakin wants to marry her.
he proposes to her a hundred times. it becomes a joke. they’ll be eating breakfast (at like, 4:30am cuz, gotta open the restaurant) and he’ll be like “good morning. we should get married :) “ and she’s like “shut up and drink your coffee”
eventually one night after a powwow when everyone’s gone to sleep jess is like heyyy the stars are out let’s go for a walk
and juanita (begrudgingly) goes with him and they walk around and look at the stars and she’s like ok yeah this is pretty baller and jess pulls out a ring and he’s like hey u know what else is baller? ;)
(i’m KIDDING he says better words than that but you get the vibe. he’s such a romantic. watch the movie. read my fic. read my fic 🔪)
so FINALLYYYYY she’s like FINE I’LL MARRY YOU GOSHHHH and jess is like flipping out dancing around hugging her kissing her he’s so dang happy
the wedding is so FREAKIN cute cuz it’s in a big open field in paper moon and her other son and daughter and granddaughter and best friend all fly in and aaaahhhhhhhhh OH AND PEACHES IS THERE TOO OF COURSE
mignon (jess’s niece) falls in LOVE with juanita’s granddaughter i can’t think of her name but she’s like a two year old and she’s so cute and aahhh cousins??? i don’t know. new family!!!!!!
randy missed his brother and sister aaahhhh JUANITA MISSED HER BEST FRIEND KAY-RITA GOSH the wedding is great okay you get the picture
jess is a great father figure to all her kids like yeah they’re all adults but he becomes a very important person in their lives (already evident with randy but for her other kids too!!!)
okay real quick this is so long i know but here some cute jess/juanita specific headcanons which is literally what i’m assuming you asked for in the first place but i never get to talk about juanita so!! SO HERE WE ARE:
jess still has his ptsd night terrors and juanita always wakes up when he does. she just sits with him. sometimes he’s angry and sometimes he cries but eventually he falls back asleep with his arms wrapped around her
they can’t go on a honeymoon right away but eventually they save up enough money and go to paris!!!!!!!!!!! cuz jess loves french cuisine gosh he’s such a nerd anyway they go to paris and it’s literally,,, they have the most amazing time
they have movie nights all the time they pour wine and watch old movies and jess always tries to be adventurous and find a new movie for them but they always end up hating it and roasting everything about it as they watch
they take mignon to the carnival in the next town over 🥺 mignon meets up with some friends from school so 🥺 what if they went on the ferris wheel and just sat and talked and maybe smooched a little🥺🥺🥺

how would you have wanted ocean waves to end?
ocean waves spoilers ahead 🤙🤙
assuming you meant this tag,
i just meant the film ending in general is pretty disappointing haha, i kind of expect most audiences to want it to end with a relationship (or at least implied relationship) between taku and yutaka. this video thats going around youtubes algorithm lately kind of sums it up (but take it with salt, i dont really agree with everything he says in the video about the film, but the relationship stuff is pretty spot on)
as for how I would have wanted it to end, you are about to learn why you should not ask me questions about movies lmao..... get ready. so i actually would have preferred of course that taku never had feelings for rikako, but also that there was no relationship at the end, and that taku and yutaka stayed together out of affection for one another rather than any obligations of a relationship. thats not to say that real life lgb relationships are built on obligation, but films generally treat romantic relationships as a narrative point. the film arcs around the construction of a relationship, and then ends once the characters get together. to me, thats something that feels so transactional, and really pushes characters into roles created just to fulfil the arc of a romantic relationship. looking at films that emphasise the relationship between two characters without involving romance, my 2 favourite examples are Drunken Angel and Columbus, the relationships in both films seem so much more honest and genuine and true to lgb relationships because there are no roles, expectations, end goals, etc. they are purely about the ongoing time that the characters share with each other. so if ocean waves ended with a relationship between taku and yukata, it feels to me as if it would reduce the high school segment to a predecessor for their relationship, making it just an obstacle in the way of the ultimate goal that is a romantic relationship. BUT if it ended with an emphasis on their friendship it allows everything that happened before to be a continuous part of their journey together. by removing romance from the ending, the story becomes completely about taku and yutaka. its not about these characters as a unit, or about struggling with their feelings for each other. it is about their affection, and the story would belong to them, rather than us as an audience seeing a narrative filled. again, im not saying real life romance is transactional or that non romantic relationships are inherently more valuable, this just applies to on screen representations.
as well as above reasons, the film itself is about growing up and realising that high school skews your perspective of relationships because of the closeness of everone around you. not only does rikako have a whole scene about this , but akiko talks all about this topic too!!! the logical step to me, was for both taku and yukata to realise that any feelings that they had for this girl - who treats both of them pretty badly - were all fabricated from the romancticisation of high school relationships.
OKAY. anyway... that went on... thank u for asking, if you actually read all this u deserve like 8 medals. u have my love and respect ❤️
#if there are typos sorry i wrote this frantically in the back of my mums car#also... sorry there's so much here 😭😭😭 i just really love movies#ask#anonymous

asking this hellbeast about his past is opening up a lot of questions for me
it had been a philosopher in Athens, during the change from the Greek pantheon to Christianity. his religion, based on his persecution by the christian church, must have been Hellenic(or whatever the religion was actually called at the time) which leads to the question of what happened before
before God, before Christianity. The people who had their own religions and worshiped their own gods and had their own knowledge on the afterlife
what happened to them? how did god take over from these many other gods, how did he end up the one who made the decisions?
and this world clearly has other religions, Isaac is Muslim, after all. Taka and Sumi come from a place that wouldnt see wide-spread Christianity until a few centuries later - and even today it’s still a minority religion in Japan. Where do they go when they die? Why would they be ruled by Christian doctrine?
There must have been a time before Christianity. I know its the central religion of this show, but even the one time Adam and Eve are mentioned it leads to Alucard being like ‘wtf thats not what happened’
There are hundreds of religions all across the world, and in the 1400′s Christianity’s roots weren’t nearly as wide-spread as they are today. There were continents that hadn’t heard of it, or hadn’t had more than passing contact, even Columbus(the charlatan) hadn’t reached the Americas until 1492 and, if I’m not mistaken, it’s still only, what, the 1470′s? And previous contact of Europeans with the Americas was through Scandinavian peoples who were most likely still practicing Norse Paganism.
So in this world where Christianity is still, relatively, in its infancy outside of Europe, northern Africa, and the Middle East(which, if I’m not mistaken, was mostly Islam at this point - idk my religious history is rusty at best), where do people who aren’t Christian and have never heard the name “Jesus” in their lives go when they die? And what decides it for people like this beast, who was not Christian and likely hadn’t been raised as one to begin with.
The fact that this show’s God seems so powerful that he can supersede the power of other pantheons of Gods(if they are real, which is certainly possible considering all the other things that show up in this show) really freaks me out and I don’t like it.
#//out of beer(ooc)#season 3 spoilers#ignore my ranting#things like this fascinate and annoy me in equal measure

my list of lupin movies ive watched for the sake of keeping track and making sure i dont rewatch some
Castle of Cagliostro (10)
favourite Lupin movie of all time. Fantastic art, cast, plot, everything.
Blood Seal: Eternal Mermaid (8.5)
Really good animation and really interesting plot. Another ‘Lupin has to babysit’ movie but it was treated in such a way that set it apart from other ones. He gives her a lot of good advice and overall I really enjoyed this one even if it’s kind of underrated.
Burning Memory - Tokyo Crisis (8.5)
Surprisingly good like I wasn’t expecting a 90′s Lupin movie to come for me like this but the animation is really solid and the movie itself was really funny. I also liked that Maria and Zenigata weren’t a thing like that cleared my pores.
The Bloodspray of Ishikawa Goemon (8)
The animation is fucking stellar but there were odd gaps in the movie that were really inactive. I liked the two subplots going on though like they were both interesting.
Bye Bye Lady Liberty (8)
The classic convoluted subplots worked well here tbh and the Goemon romance stuff was gunshot noise gunshot noise cash register noise. The animation had this weird glow to it but it was (almost) the 90s lol
Hemingway Papers (8)
They really got me with Goemon and Jigen going against each other and Lupin being in a relationship with someone aside from Fujiko (a relationship that was genuinely romantic) was actually pretty well done. That whole bit at the end with the karaoke machine? Amazing
Return the Treasure (7)
Another one that was really close to being perfect. The only loose ends was that the “treasure” wasn’t really explained very well (but i mean, the lead up to it was very good) and i could’ve done with more scenes with the whole gang (it seemed like there was a lot of times where it was lupin jigen and fujiko or lupin goemon and fujiko, but not enough of all of them together)
From Siberia With Love (7)
The usual amount of humour and action from a Lupin III film and the art is pretty standard. Goemon got a few nice quotes in and Fujiko talked to a woman. Could’ve done without Rasputin but thats just me.
Elusiveness of the Fog (7)
Lupin offering Goemon to the princess was kinda funny and I actually really liked OG Mamo (not the short freak) being revitilized bc his episode in the original series was really entertaining. The history of where they were was a little wonky but I’ll give it to them this time.
Pilot Film (7)
That shit was wild i liked how jigen was introduced as the gunman and then beat the shit out of 3 police officers with his bare hands. also goemon i guess dedicates his life to killing lupin so thats fun, like he’s on zenigata’s side i guess. could’ve done with fujiko making an expression at any given time but yknow what? it was funny and it was only 12 minutes long
Another Page (7)
Surprisingly not that bad. To summarize the film as a whole I’d say: it could have been worse. The plot made sense which is more than i can say about most lupin movies and they stuck to two subplots that were both interesting and meshed pretty good by the end. And the two lady characters that got introduced didn’t betray anybody AND didn’t die.
Farewell to Nostradamus (6.5)
The animation was pretty good and I liked the whole ‘we gotta protect this kid’ thing but I always mix up this one and Bye Bye Liberty Crisis like this movie is it’s less interesting twin. Both of them have kids they need to protect but Bye Bye Liberty Crisis was just better. I feel like this one had a really good ending but aside from that the movie wasn’t that memorable for me.
Fuma Conspiracy (6.5)
i liked Goemon being in a relationship bc it was really sweet, i just wish there wouldve been a better balance of romance to plot. Also terrible voice actors but that just affected my enjoyment not really the plot or anything relevant.
Sweet Lost Night (6)
I like time shenanigans and my only two critiques are the inconsistent art quality and they seemed really hesitant to embrace time skipping. Like “he’s limited to twice before he becomes brain dead” was a little bit of a small window. If anything they missed out on a good opportunity for a classic lupin montage of him time skipping way too often. Maybe if they changed it to “you skip time every 12 hours, to every 6 hours, to every 3 hours, etc” until he stops existing?? like that seems more in line with a lupin plot not to mention a little more suspenseful.
Dead or Alive (6)
The new art style is kind of neat and didn’t really affect the personality of the characters like I thought it would. The plot itself was complicated and hard to follow but I mean, it wasn’t awful. Nothing I really hated and nothing I loved.
Jigen Daisuke’s Gravestone (6)
Handsome Jigen was cool but tcm i’m begging you to drink your Respect Women Juice. Also Goemon wasn’t in this one what the fuck was up with that. Lupin looked like a crispy toenail in the new art style but again the animation is gucci so I can’t really complain on that front.
Napoleon's Dictionary (6)
Reminded me a lot of Mamo except with more respect in women. Just kidding Fujiko was kind of a crapshoot in the end and the ending was more or less just. cut off?? like they crashed into the ocean after lupin ruined zenigatas marriage and the credits started rolling. it was weird bc it had a lot going but i guess they ran out of time for a proper ending?
Mystery of Mamo (6)
Respect Women Juice needed and also why was Goemon purple. The pros to this movie was the overall aesthetic being really attractive BUT the plot was sketchy and didn’t make a lot of sense. The only remarkable scene I remember is Jigen shooting the can by Lupin’s feet like I wish that emotion would’ve carried through the film and not ended there.
Red vs Green (5)
Really good animation, no fucking idea what happened in this film.
Walther P-38: Island of Assassins (5)
They missed an opportunity to be a little more psychological and the lady of the week dying was meh but I will say the plot stayed on course like they didnt try to do too much at once like they tend to do. I wish they would’ve delved more into lupin’s past with the doctor because that seemed kind of random but the more lethal, edgy plot was handled decently. I’ll probably forget this one in a week tbh.
Dragon of Doom (5)
I like learning more about Goemon but his girlfriend was really distracting and uneccessary. Like, if you want to introduce Goemon’s childhood friend sure its whatever but she only showed up to either threaten lupin or flirt with Goemon. And it was very obvious she was going to betray him so all her build up was pointless. I will say though, the plot was pretty cool which was surprising.
Voyage to Danger (4)
tcm I’m begging you to let Jigen talk to a woman and not have it be like ‘this is Jigens girlfriend now’. Sometimes women be talking and they aren’t thirsting for a man triple their age. It just be like that sometimes. Thats literally all I remember about this film.
First Contact (4)
I remember being excited for this like ‘oh wow their first ever meeting’ and i s2g this film was boring. And also a giant plothole. With no real redeeming qualities. I don’t even remember the animation being that good.
Columbus Files (4)
This film was at least funny bad but my hand to god I’d never watch it again. This is the first time I’ve ever watched a movie and had to watch the dub bc the sub was boring me to death. It was just... so bad... Especially when you’ve seen Wings of Death like this ain’t the Fujiko I know please leave.
Seven Days Rhapsody (3)
The comedy in this one was so weirdly incorporated and featured another really good ‘here’s Jigen’s dead girlfriend’ that i just could not care less about and then finished off with this what like 13 year old girl asking to be Lupin’s girlfriend? fuck outta here. The ONLY good part was Goemon slapping Lupin across the face.
Alcatraz Connection (2.5)
Really, really boring. The content wasn’t necessarily bad but they had 4 subplots going on that were equally uninteresting and some scenes went on for so so so long. It deadass took me 5 hours to watch this movie bc i kept pausing to do literally anything else. The art was unpleasant and by the time they got the treasure i didn’t really care anymore. Not to mention the plot was way too complicated and tin-foil hat for my liking.
Missed by a Dollar (2.5)
Made very little sense and in general was really annoying. Between Goemon being a born again Christian and the plot briefly derailing so Lupin could establish an oil company it was like can we pick something to focus on? By the end of the movie I was like wait when did they get the broach? What does the broach do again? And then he gives it to someone random and its like??
Gold of Babylon (2)
This one if the definition of being cursed and Pink Jacket deserved so much better than this nonsense. Like Lupin III isn’t known for its coherence, sure, but this movie had absolutely no structure. Upon finishing the film I was trying to remember anything that just happened and my brain refused. It kept the good cartoonish animation but god at what cost.
Angel Tactics (2)
TCM PLEASE DRINK YOUR RESPECT WOMEN JUICE. The art was just. Stunningly bad. Bad to the degree where about a minute thirty in I already regretted starting it. Not to mention the classic “we don’t actually wanna draw this part so we’re gonna jam cgi in here”. Also the most awkward use of “hey heres 3 women hey heres 3 men lets shove them together”.
Harimao’s Treasure (2)
nazis and transphobia which was extremely unfortunate considering the opening was actually one of the stronger ones I’ve seen from Lupin but immediately after the villain was introduced the quality of the film dropped about 90% and i wanted to die for the entire last half of the film. if they had changed the villain it would’ve solved 90 of their problems.
Twilight Gemini (2)
this was one of the only films in the entire lupin series where i was rooting for lupin to fucking perish. not only was goemon only in this film for 26 seconds, jigen was there for about 30 seconds and im not entirely sure if fujiko was there at all. not to be that guy but when they make lupin to be the most intolerable piece of shit in the world for this movie, don’t give him all the screen time. having to stare at this asshole for an hour and a half was exhausting.
Princess of the Breeze (2)
How a movie where Jigen has to carry a baby around in one of those funny baby-carriers turned out this fucking goddawful I have no explanation for. This movie was like an AU where all these other characters no one cares about happen to exist in the same universe as lupin. and when lupin does show up, i want him dead. Just horrifically boring and lazy art mixed with bad cgi. The only upside is that it isn’t Return of the Magician.
Return of the Magician (1)
I’m giving it a 1 on the principle that this wasn’t even a movie. It was a little less than an hour long and my god i’ve never seen a film so full of pad-time that if i can be so bold, there was more pad time than plot. What little plot they had made absolutely no sense and the art used cgi in the most bizarre and ugly ways. i’m pretty sure the credits played twice at the end. if there was a world record for lowest budget in a film, Return of the Magician would win hands down.

ah can i request an angsty scenario where izaya gets into an argument with his s/o (maybe about his health) and they both say hurtful things before she leaves to get some space and ends up being shot or jumped while she's out?? thats sounds confusing. does that sound confusing? if chilli peppers are hot, why do they call them 'chilli' peppers?? who knows.
So when Christopher Columbus went to America to steal a bunch of crap for England he discovered the chili pepper and mistook it for black pepper, hence calling it “chile pepper” - frick knows when it was turned to chili maybe someone was like oh hey it’s funny if there’s two i’s either side of the L lmaolmao Anyway there’s your history lesson time for some depressing stuff
Whilst you had always understood what it meant to beinvolved with Izaya Orihara, there were times you stopped and had to take astep back, just to see what was happening and why everything was speeding at adramatic pace. Whilst he might not have been the most romantic of partners, hewas a powerful partner to have - his connections and knowledge had helped youout on many an occasion.
Still, you couldn’t help but be concerned every now andthen. For someone who insisted they “loved all humans” and constantlyplayed his twisted games with the powerful figures in Ikebukuro, he sure actedall high and mighty about it. Whilst most days he was bearable, there were somewhere you just couldn’t understand him and his attitude.
Today was one of those days; you had left the bedroom tofind him at the table, his usual chess board set up with the variety of gamepieces spread across. He was bent over it, muttering to himself as he pushedpieces together. To an outsider such as yourself, the order made no sensewhatsoever - it just seemed like someone with either a vivid imagination orsomething wrong.
“Hey.” you approached him with a small smile.“I didn’t see you come to bed last night.”
“I couldn’t sleep.” he responded, whilst pullingout a sheet of paper and drawing up a list; most of the time you couldn’t makeany sense of the hasty scribbles he made. “I was too busy figuring out thenext move in my plan.”
“Which plan is this?” you asked, a cynical twistto your brow. “The ‘get rid of Shizuo’ plan, or the 'ascend to Valhalla’plan? Or maybe the 'make the Black Rider’s life hard’ one? I don’t know, I’velost count.” you walked towards the kitchen to make some breakfast only tofind dinner still out by the side.
“Ah - Izaya? Did you even eat last night?”
“Of course not.” he dully replied. “Who couldeat at a time like this? This is crucial and I need all my brainpower to figureout each move.”
You crossed your arms in irritance. “You still need toeat!”
Izaya looked up at you with a wry grin. “Oh, I’msorry,” he snickered. “I had no idea you were now my mother.”
You blinked back at this. It wasn’t the first time he hadsnapped at you in such a way, and probably wouldn’t be the last. And of course, being a man you trusted with your past and your weaknesses, he knew how tostrike you strongest when he really needed to. You had seen him strike againsthis enemies using everything at his disposal - a cruel and brutal attack thatalways hit the mark.
“I’m only concerned for your health.” you tried toreason with him. “It’s not good to keep staying up late at night and noteating. You’ll become weak, and what would I do if you suddenly collapsedwhilst out on a job? I can’t be with you all the time.” You reached out ahand to touch his shoulder, only to have him push it away with his arm.
“You don’t have to be with me at any time.” helooked at you with cold eyes. “If you don’t like how I do things, or livemy life, you’re free to leave at any time.”
“You don’t mean that!” you snapped back, and youcould feel tears prickling inside your eyes at the blank words he was giving. You could tell the lack of sleep and food was affecting him, no matter how muchof a breakthrough he was supposedly having. You knew it was best not to take itpersonally…and yet…
“Izaya, I love you. I don’t want to see you hurtyourself like this! How could you talk about me leaving when I only want tomake you happy!” you slammed your hands on the table next to his arm, anattempt of a passionate exclamation to him. And yet his eyes still seemedlacking of emotion as he sneered.
“You know what would make me happy? If you left anddidn’t come back until you learnt your place in my perfect little world.”
You gave a shaky sob as you stood back up, twitching as ifslapped by the poisonous words.
“Well…if that’s how you feel…I’ll go out and giveyou some space for a bit.”
You stepped away, hiding your face from him so he wouldn’tsee the tears now rolling down your cheeks. A few minutes later and your shoeswere on your feet, ready to leave the apartment. You opened the door, andhesitated for a split second. What worth would it be if you went back to himand embraced him, tried to show your feelings for him physically? Would he snapout of his trance and apologise?
Something inside you whispered that no, he would react justthe same. He was in the mood where there was no way of bringing him backanytime soon. The best thing to do, as you agreed, was to give him space tothink; and maybe time for you to think yourself as well. With a heavy sigh, youclosed the door with a heavy bang, your anger taken out on the wooden frame.
Walking out of the apartment building, you stood, trying tothink of where to go. You could always drop by Ikebukuro and see if any of yourfriends were available for a get together, or wander to the Shinjuku cafes andsee what was on offer. Your tummy rumbled as you remembered you hadn’t eatenbreakfast yet, and yet a guilty pang shot through you as the image of the leftdinner flitted past your mind’s eye. You shook your head, trying to forget theevents of the morning as you set off in one direction.
You didn’t notice the black car with tinted windows that wasmaking its way down the road towards you. You didn’t see the window roll downto see a man in black shades and a suit identify you.
“Nothing personal, sweetheart.” he called out, causing you to whip round to face him. “Just leaving a message to yourmeddlesome boyfriend.”
A horrific pain shot through your abdomen as you realisedall too soon the man had shot you, no noise made by the silencer attachment. You tried to let out a scream but your breath had been taken from you, as youcollapsed onto the pavement. You raised your hand to your face and saw throughyour blurring vision the blood stains on your fingers. And then everything wentdark.
“Is this Orihara?” a voice drawled down the phoneto Izaya’s ear.
“The very same.” he replied, still scribbling downnotes and moving the position of the pieces.
“Well, we got a bone to pick with you. See, we ain’thappy with the way you treated our boss, see? So we figured, if you’re gonnastick your nose into our business, then we might as well stick our nose intoyours, ya see?”
Izaya frowned as his hand closed on a white queen chessfigure, rolling it around with his fingers. “And what exactly does thatmean?”
“Well, ya little bird took a little flight, right? Didn’teven see it coming. Direct hit on the stomach. If any luck, she’s alreadygone.”
“What are you-” his eyed widened in fear as hestopped moving. No way. Could it have been…?
“It’s a shame, too. She was real pretty. Too bad shegot involved with a scum like you. Laters.”
The phone clicked dead as Izaya jolted up from his seat, knocking the chess board over. Pieces scattered across the floor with anechoing clatter.
The only thing left was the white queen still held in hishand, held so tightly it was creating an indent in his palm.

NHL Trade Deadline 2019: The Aftermath
What Happened at the Deadline?
Today was Lou Lamoriello’s first trade deadline day with the NY Islanders. From all indications he pushed a few offers, but could not find the appropriate deal to add to the Burger Barn’s menu. Something that has happened in Islanders Country a lot over the past decade of deadlines.
Mike also details the day on the The Isles Faithful Podcast Episode 25.
The last splash was in 2006 when Garth Snow sent a bag of non-magic beans to Edmonton for Ryan Smyth. What he ended up with was poke check into the playoffs, and first round ouster by a superior Buffalo team. He didn’t give up much, and upon Captain Canada’s teary-eyed departure he didn’t gain much in return. Much like that day an adequate bargain was obtained. The Islanders gave up nothing, and got nothing in return.

Why Did it Happen?
Lou has a relatively young first place team that is buying into a new system. They’re not only in first, but they are on a post learning curve trajectory that should keep them there. Even if other teams have improved themselves at the deadline, the Islanders GAVE NOTHING AWAY.
Their biggest assets are still mysteries. But what we do know of them is that they all fit into the current scheme. Most would think that Anthony Beauvillier would have been on the block for some of the bigger fish. But I also assume that there would have had to be some kind of extension behind a deal involving Beau. Lou would not have given away a 20G RFA with center potential for a rental.
The Islanders have been short on right handed defensemen for as long as I’ve been a fan… and that’s a pretty long time. The other two items on most price lists would have been Dobson and/or Wilde. You can flip a coin (it had better be three sided) because one of Pulock, Dobson or Wilde will be on a Norris list within five years. It’s too early to tell which one of the “prospects” will be on that list, so they’re both too valuable to be traded for a rental.
As I pointed out earlier this year, there were some names that were most likely available. Lou just couldn’t find the right mix of picks, those prospects, a target and a seller’s consent.
Where Are They Now?
The Islanders lead the Washington Capitals by two points, and have two games in hand. At this point it’s basically a three-horse race for first with Columbus making a late run. The Blue Jackets helped themselves immensely by not giving up any important roster players, and acquiring Matt Duchene, Adam McQuaid and Keith Kinkaid. This very well could become a dogfight or a walkover in the next two weeks. The Isles’ schedule is littered with division rivals and they have two more games with Washington (3/1, @ 4/6) and Columbus (3/11 and @ 3/26). Those games will be paramount. The final game against Washington could determine home team advantage for the first round.
Where Do They Go From Here?
There are a few paths they can go by, but in the long run… they need to think of building a team for their new arena. The first step in that is seeing what you have on the current roster.
Some Questions About The Future
Where does Anthony Beauvillier fit in the Islanders’ future? Is he a top six wing? Can he be a bottom six center? Can he eventually replace a guy like Val Filppula? Can he become the next Butch Goring? Can he win a face-off? Will they ever use him to kill penalties?
Will Josh Ho-Sang ever get his act together? I’m not one who is going to say I know ANYTHING about Josh’s situation beyond what out on the surface. The young man has amazing talent, and when he throws that on the ice with full focus and the full effort of his physical abilities he’s a force. When he loses that focus, he has had some issues that keep him off the ice all together. I personally want to see him with guys like Ladd, Lee, Nelson and Beau. He has to earn NHL playing time to do that. Maybe there is one last gasp this season to see if they can put some trust in him. It will make a big difference to his first RFA deal, what they do with Eberle, and whether he is an Islander after June.
Is Michael Dal Colle a full time NHL player. He had a very good NHL showing. I think he earned a full time NHL gig next year. He might even make a cameo later in the season and possibly the playoffs. Does he have a “beast mode”. He certainly has showed it in the AHL, and he has shown plenty of “moments of confidence” against NHL vets. It will be fun to watch him evolve as a player.

Off The IR
How do they re-assemble the puzzle with their returning pieces? I’m gonna push for the BrockLeeBar line until it happens, or they give us BrockHoLee. Lee and Nelson have been very good with Jordan Eberle, but they are not creating scoring chances at a first line clip. The Isles have been pretty good at 5v5 scoring (but not defending) over the past 4 years. They need a number one line again.
This year, neither top line has really stood out as a scoring threat. The Nelson line, however, has scored more than they have given up, and that is a rarity in recent Isles history. They need to shuffle that a bit. Andew Ladd will help that. I’m sure Trotz will be reluctant to break up what works with Lee+Nelson+Eberle. I expect to see it eventually. It could be a big boost in the second season.
Hickey will eventually be paired with an recent partner. It could be with Mayfield as a solid enough third pair. When that happens you can create a single offensive pairing that can defend the neutral and defensive zones as well. Everybody that has watched Bridgeport games for the last four years knew it had to happen eventually. Pulock and Toews for 15 minutes a night at 5v5. Make it happen!

July?
We still have a handful of very important unrestricted free agents. Lou has passed the sell by date. Now he has a few months to sign them. No panic. My opinion… in order of importance.
Anders Lee. He’s their captain. He’s our captain. Don’t let two consecutive July’s mark the Islanders losing a captain. This one would be worse than the last one. All evidence points to Lee being an Islander through and through… so it would be on Lou if they lost him.
Robin Lehner was the biggest question mark when the season started. He has become the biggest exclamation point. He should be part of their goaltending future.
Brock Nelson. Even I thought he was a trade deadline goner in October. But Brock+structure+team buy in has been the biggest surprise of the season. If anybody thought in October that Lee, Nelson and Eberle would be the #1 line of a first place team raise your hand. Yeah, I didn’t think so. Brock has quietly (maybe invisibly) contributed 20G a year for 5 years. Now he’s in the locomotive, certainly not a passenger. He’s going to want conductor pay. Given the market for top six centers that can shoot and create from the forecheck, he’s going to get it. This is going to be a tough negotiation, but I think they come out with a solid 5 year deal.
Val Filppula. The Isles will have almost as many signed options at third line center next year as they did last year. None. I advocated for some AHL training for Beau, but that wasn’t popular. Now here we are. Val has been great. Way better than expected. They do not have another option ready in Bridgeport. Otto Koivula will get games next year, probably. You can’t rely on him yet. I think Val will be an early July signing after Lou gets to troll the waters a bit. If he lands Matt Duchene they are done. They have the resources to do it.
Post Apocalypse Outlook
All in all I’d say the Islanders came out of this okay. They go into the playoffs with a few new weapons to deploy. They also get to battle test some players with very little or no playoff experience. If they come out of it better players win win. If they win win, then Yes Yes Yes!!!
