i know we joke and point out how different things would have been if jason came out to sister chantelle instead, bc there is so little support in his life and the only one who knows His Truth TM is peter, but...

he's Really good at playing his role. peter was picked out as gay when he stepped in for diane during rehearsals, showing he's memorized juliet's lines as he does the choreography with jason, even finishes his lines For him. and yeah, it's obvious, so chantelle has him stay after rehearsals, but.

the thing is, jason was still able to pass as straight. he was Literally the romeo to peter's juliet and, perhaps because he was romeo from the start--due to his popularity--it was inconceivable he could ever reciprocate what peter felt for him.

the thing is, peter did not choose to come out to sister chantelle. he only chose his mom, and also matt as a technical bonus. he did not seek out support--only wanted to stop lying to the people he loves and is close with. he got her support anyway.

jason did not choose to come out--it happened for him. he then chose to come out to father flynn, who i assume was not at rehearsals amd did not hear bc why would he be at rehearsals. begged and cried for support and did not receive. sure, he got a speech about how the church would be his spine, that he could work past it, but that kind of support is a rejection.

so i have to wonder... if matt never walked in on jason and ivy, had never callously, carelessly outed jason--

--would anyone other than peter and matt even know, without a doubt, with absolute certainty, that he was gay?

thinking about the thing i saw today that said lfj said in an interview that originally tommy was supposed to be into eddie and now im thinking okay but what if that's TRUE what if tommy and eddie started hanging out and tommy WAS into eddie and he tried to kiss him, he DID kiss him, and eddie is like woah woah, im not. um. im not gay. and tommy is like oh, sorry, it's just. i was, well, i was getting vibes, but clearly i was wrong so sorry. and eddies like uhhh vibes what. and tommy makes some comment that's roughly along the lines of like just, are you sure? and eddies like uhh yes?? pretty sure??? and tommys like okay okay, forget i said anything. friends? and eddies like friends. and so they're fine, and tommys fine and eddies fine, except — except eddies not fine because he can't stop thinking about what tommy said. and it like keeps him up at night, like he's trying to think back to what he did or said around tommy that could've made him think that eddie was gay. and maybe he's sitting with hen and chim one day after that (buck is sleeping or not on shift today or just doing something else so it's just the three of them) and eddie just blurts out do i ever, like, act gay? like, have i ever done anything that has made you think that i like men. and hen and chim share a Look (because HELLO YES EVERY DAY DJSKS) but they find ways to give eddie like. nonanswers, because they don't want to tell him yes and send him on a spiral. but also he's already spiraling so like it doesn't matter lol. but yeah tommys comment and the chat with hen and chim are... Enlightening in ways and eddie ends up doing A Lot of Thinking and Reevaluating and Soul Searching. and he maybe finally comes to the Realization that oh. he might maybe like men. that might be. A Thing. tommy might have been right. and it is while all of this is happening that tommy starts hanging out with buck more and then buck has HIS Realization and suddenly buck and tommy are together and eddie's got this very weird feeling in his gut about it and he knows it's not because he has a problem with them being into men. and he knows it's not because he dislikes either of them, they're both his friends! and then maybe one day at work they're all just talking and someone's telling a story and describing the way someone was acting in a situation, and eddies listening to it like that sounds... that sounds like how im feeling. and then he realizes that, oh. it's jealousy. he's jealous. that's what that ugly feeling is. only... he KNOWS he's not jealous of tommy because he didn't feel anything when tommy kissed him. so that means.... that means it must be — buck. and it hits him then. he's in love with buck.

and it's like. the WORST time for that realization to happen, because buck seems so happy right now, more comfortable in his skin than ever and he's got a boyfriend and they're doing GOOD — at least eddie thinks they are anyway. so he just. keeps it to himself. doesn't want to upstage buck, doesn't want to do anything to compromise his happiness either. so he sits with his realization and he lowkey suffers in silence.

until one day buck just casually drops that he and tommy broke up. no hard feelings or anything, they just weren't feeling the spark that had been there at the beginning anymore, so they parted as friends. and eddie is like. bluescreening a little on the inside bc he's secretly THRILLED, but also he does not want to just. throw himself at buck, he literally just got out of a relationship! so he fully intends to just. keep sitting on his feelings. he's held out this long, what's a little longer right?

but then buck ends up beating him to the punch with a confession of his own, because turns out eddie kind of was part of the reason he and tommy broke up — because tommy helped him realize that he was bi, but he also helped him realize that he's been in love with eddie this whole time. and of course eddie confesses right back, and they are both OVER THE MOON and they kiss about it and they're finally FINALLY together <3

but yes, that is how eddie diaz realizes that he likes Men, but specifically evan buckley <3

Blue cringed when he first saw Miracle's room. There were boxes that were either full or empty, newspapers were strewn about the floor, and bed had been stripped of all of its sheets. But were, instead, used to tent over a pile of pillows. Or it would as Miracle pulled the bedsheets from an open window and fixed the pillow fort. “Come on in!!!” Miracle called.

“Uh… Why did you make this fort?” Blue asked, taking off his coat and throwing it onto the mattress.

“Ah, one day I was feeling bad so I just made this fort!!! I add to it sometimes still.” Miracle explained. They scooted over to make room as Blue entered the fort. “And laying in it makes me feel happy sometimes.” they smiled.

“Are you feeling bad right now?” Blue asked as he made himself comfortable. Miracle didn't say anything. Instead they just moved closer to Blue and pushed him down. It surprised Blue, a whirlwind of thoughts flooding his mind. Until he realized Miracle just wanted to cuddle with him.

“Sometimes…” Miracle murmured. “Sometimes I wonder what I do wrong… I wake up sometimes… thinking about what I've done wrong and how I could have fixed it and how I can't fix it…”

Blue frowned, wrapping his arms around Miracle as they vented out their feelings.

“And sometimes I wonder if one day I'll mess up, that one day I'll forget something and get my family in trouble… I think about that so often, I can't help but scrub until i remove the paint, I don't find cleaning fun…” they murmured.

“Mira…” Blue frowned. “Why are you telling me this?” he asked, looking at Miracle.

“Because that's who I am, I'm Miracle, someone who loves unicorns, car races, and heavy metal!!! I'm not that inky, gooey mess that sometimes eats people!” Miracle replied, lifting their head up. “That's not who I wanted to be…. I just… wanted to say that because you saw… everyone saw…”

Blue’s frown persisted.

“I know that's not all you are…” he cooed quietly. “You're the mostly beautiful person here, that's why I love you.” he smiled at them.

“.... You say that but you haven't even seen my face…” Miracle murmured.

“I don't need to see your face to know that!” Blue insisted as he lifted himself up onto his forearm. Miracle huffed, not buying it as they rolled onto their other side and away from Blue.

He sighed before crawling over and pushed Miracle over so he could look into their eyes. Miracle just glared at him, still pouting, until Blue reached for their goggles.

He hesitated.

“Is it okay?” Blue asked.

“What? Oh… uhh… I mean I'm not trying to recover, so… so I should be fine… I've been healed after all and--”

“That's--no, I mean… do you want me to?” Blue asked again.

“Oh…” Miracle frowned before they shook their head. Blue seemed heartbroken, but he backed away, looking down at his hands.

Miracle cleared their throat to regain Blue's attention as they pulled off their goggles and the  their mask…. And then their hood.

“Mira…” Blue said softly

“It's bad isn't it…” Miracle grumbled, quickly moving to pull their hood over themselves again. Blue's hands quickly shot out, grabbing Miracle's wrists. They shouted but were quickly silenced by Blue's lips on their own.

i think this actually does have to do with the sociopolitical atmosphere based around wwx bc of what you said about his relations to yunmeng jiang and the other sects perceptions of them! this isn’t to say this isn’t a valid point though bc it is! (but yee lmao i do acknowledge i am pretty biased towards jc and will take on views / interpret canon in ways influenced by such bias , even if the take is not actually influenced in whole)

i think like, first of all this kind of is under the larger umbrella on my point on how the cultivation world is fucked and not morally correct itself and even if jc were simply jealous, the weaponization of that jealousy merits critiques of its own.

but generally im not sure if i would categorize jiang cheng and specifically propose his jealousy as one of the main drives behind everything that occurred bc i think that kind of oversimplifies a kind of complex and stratified world in unstable times as well as the nuance of the individual traumas jc and wwx went through.

i do think jc / his trauma had something significant to do with it, as i do think wwx / his trauma had something significant to do with it too! but ‘jealousy’ does not encompass the complexity of jc’s self image and what it means for him to be a filial son to parents he had a Complicated relationship with and a lack of emotional / traumatic processing which he experiences in his own unique way as wei wuxian does his too. theres better analyses on jc and his childhood trauma, as well as many on wwx, and the way they cope/express their feelings in general and in relation to each other that atm im not really up to dissecting sklfjs

and i think regardless of their specific relationship and feelings towards each other, the cultivation world at large was more nuanced than that and it is impossible to divorce it from both wwx and jc at the time on both a personal and impersonal level as they were two prominent political figures.

yes, wwx was a dangerous one-man band people were terrified of. but who is to say that if jc stood up for him, yunmeng jiang wouldn’t have been ostracized too? putting all your eggs into one basket, even if that basket is something very special to you, is a choice that a risk-adverse person would not necessarily embrace.

i don’t doubt it could have played a very significant role and changed the course of canon! potentially for the better! but simultaneously i think it could have gone very badly and i think that also needs to be acknowledged.

i don’t think jiang cheng is blameless or should be without blame, bc he could have done a lot of things and if not those things specifically then he could have done a lot of things better, and i do agree that he played a major role in what happened. but i specifically don’t think it’s fair to put the whole domino of events on his shoulders either. its really easy to say that jc should have just stood up and put aside his mere feelings of jealousy and protected wwx and thats it, they would be fine.

but imo those feelings are more complex, as was wwx’s own feelings, as was the sociopolitical atmosphere and specific and distinct pressures on both of them. and despite people being afraid of wwx they had also been afraid of wrh and they had still rallied together and killed him. sure, it took a while but post-war is an inherently unstable time politically and economically and there were also others *doing the manipulating*.

would it have made jc a better person in a lot of people’s eyes? perhaps. but that’s not really the point. i kind of touched on that already in my original post but i did not mean to make it sound like jc was too powerless. everyone has agency but there is also a lack thereof. wwx made his own choices too, that played off jc’s, there were distinct in his own way and that made jc’s choices play off him. wwx was rude to other sect leaders and was very obviously not there for political niceties, something that rankled various sect leaders. this had its own ripples. this is not to say this blame is all wwx’s bc it’s not. jc was a part of it, nmj, jgy, etc etc. but while jc standing up for his brother regardless of cost would have been a morally correct thing to do, him not doing so once again does not make him inherently bad and it is not the only factor at play.

i think jc tried his best. this isn’t to excuse that he fucked up in many ways bc his best was not always rational etc. but i personally think that he is still not an inherently bad or irredeemable character bc of that and that my larger point was that the cultivation world was absolutely fucked and relations within it are complex

i know this reiteration and dance bringing nuance onto the jiang cheng / wen survivor discourse has been done time and time again but i will do it anyway bc i want to rant. to be clear, anyone who thinks of themselves as an ‘anti’ pls do not interact <3 i think a lil discourse is fun for many people but i don’t have the energy to dedicate to fighting antis, jc or otherwise. no character bashing is tolerated on this post ! there is also a good chunk under a readmore bc i can’t do Long Posts w/o a readmore

i read a few replies that talked about how wen mainline (and distant lines) were killed for to avenge and honour your ancestors who were killed by them (its more complex than this but i am not the expert so im not going to elaborate) but ! not every wen disciple was a wen mainline member or even a distant member of the line. while the sunshot campaign primarily rallied to kill wrh and his tyranny and with that, end wen hegemony, *not everyone wearing wen sect colours was surnamed wen*

the sunshot campaign did not spare them regardless. it was worse for the people left of dafan wen bc they bore the surname no doubt, and what happened to them was atrocious, but like. are you getting what i’m putting down here? the whole cultivation world was not morally correct. the sunshot campaign in its methodology was not morally correct. war choices are not morally correct and you cannot square this blame solely on jiang cheng’s shoulders.

yeah what jc did and said to wwx about the wens was not an entirely morally correct choice but it was a diplomatically justified choice. y’all immediately point fingers at jc but you forget nie mingjue condemned the wens for being wens by name alone: he had a canonically black and white perspective on justice (which i personally headcanon as something different & more nuanced but lsdkjfs this is not about that & to clarify i love nmj w my whole heart).

in addition, where was the lan sect? arguably if the lan and nie sects together had worked, they *could* have saved the wen survivors. they had enough political power and money to do so and their sects had a presumably long-standing alliance already considering the closeness of lxc and nmj (also drawing on how nhs calls lxc ‘xichen-ge’). qinghe nie in particular was known for the opposition of jin guangshan — would it not be in good faith for jgy to have turned over the wens to his sworn brother, who probably would have treated them more fairly regardless of them being wens, to show that lanling jin honoured nmj’s late father and trusted them in this alliance?

nobody in the cultivation world did anything to help the wens. lmao the person who probably did the most was jiang fucking yanli. there is, so much more here than some individual choices and NOT to discount them but theres just. more nuance. more backstory.

did jiang cheng owe a debt to the wens? yes. contextually, is it different for him than nmj or lxc? yes. does it make him an *inherently bad and irredeemable person*? no.

jc had a sect to look after and major and minor sects on his heels. the lan sect initially helped him rebuild his disciples in numbers but you see how many died when wen chao came. after sunshot, there are so many expenses and yunmeng jiang was in a socially, politically and economically unstable position. i could go into how he probably really needed money but i won’t bc sldkfjs that isn’t the point here.

the point is that jin guangyao and jin guangshan would probably eat him alive if he fucked up and there were inevitably mid-sized sects rising to the top, particularly around lotus pier, that were swallowing up smaller subsidiary sects and eyeing the rest of yunmeng jiang. it was the wens and his brother , or his sect / what was left of it: the people he recruited in sunshot, who he probably promised a home and food to; a sect he had to rebuild from its ashes.

his brother was frankly being extremely unreliable atm (for, valid reasons bc this mans was coping the best he could but jc did not know what was going on) and not telling him very much. i love wwx and think he was simply trying his best and i feel so sad when i think about him during this time but since this man was very unwell, he was not exactly the pinnacle of diplomatic excellence in a unified political jiang front, for a variety of reasons.

then suddenly he had taken war prisoners from the only sect they were formally allied with (and once again, jgs and jgy would swallow lotus pier up if they could) and yeah jc could have stood up for the wens and im not saying he was right in not defending the wens okay im not saying that. he should have. so many others should have too. i AM saying this is not a ‘he was good’/‘he was bad’ thing. this is a nuanced discussion involving morals and people and sociopolitical situations

Ok some like-

ideas about Philip's brother/Wittebro that I had but like yeah. Also I already made a post about this but I still don't think Wittebro originally died in the knife fight. I wrote another post about that but that's not the focus of this post and I don't want my post to be very long fjsksk I'm sorry. I'm only bringing this up to give context to certain ideas. Anyways! Onto my theories!

Ok now going off the idea that he lived. If I was Wittebro I'd obviously go into hiding and constantly worry of my half-witch child/ren getting hurt and doing anything I could to keep then safe. I already made another post about this but I'm gonna reiterate this here cuz it's needed to understand this. But, I think Kikimora was Wittebro's house demon. Makes sense that after almost being killed by his brother he'd get a house demon (security system). She's actually loyal to Wittebro not Belos and has her own personal motives of taking him down cuz he keeps making grimwalkers of her former boss/friend. So why kill Hunter then? Well she firstly obviously sees him as a brat that's just like Belos. Secondly, I do think Hunter is needed for the Day of Unity. Most likely as a magic battery. So, how would she stop that? Kill the brat and take back Wittebro's corpse so Belos can't make anymore grimwalkers. Also if true she'd be a foil to Lilith and Hooty. Lilith helped Hooty grow as a person and better integrated him into the owl fam wheras Belos just makes Kikimora worse fjsjsj.

Now onto the Alador and Wittebro connections. Fans a while back rightly pointed out how they both have the same nose and widow's peak hairline a while back (and with new info they both had their hair long tied back into a loose ponytail before chopping it off). Doubt those 3 connections aren't just a mere coincidence. I, a while back thought they could've either parallel/foiled as dads (which I still do). But, new thought that led me down a fucking rabbit hole fjsjs. What if wittebro made the Jean-Lucs (the things protecting baby King) and they also foil in that regard? Alador who originally made the abomatons as home security now makes them to protect Belos wheras Wittebro who originally created the Jean-Lucs to keep his child/ren safe now make them for a or multiple Titans to keep their children safe.

Bro just, think about the thematic implications of Wittebro making the Jean-Lucs? He'd further foil his brother who's in leagues with this world's equivalent of the devil. Plus with how it's pretty obvious how Belos and The Collector aren't just working together cuz they have a common goal they get along cuz they're both child-like (Belos is a man-child and well, The Collector is a kid). Wittebro and the titan/s would obviously get along cuz they both don't want to see their children die. And it'd further cement that Belos' whole "will of the Titan" speil is pure bullshit. He def thinks what he's doing is good actually but when you're in leagues with the Demon Realm's equivalent of the devil while your brother was actually on good graces with the titan/s.... buddy..... the writing is on the wall you are the baddy here.

Also god think about the thematic implementations of this with King and Hunter. They're both traumatized kids who lost all their predecessors/ancestors thanks to both Belos and The Collector. Contrasted this to the Wittebane brothers who, well, both came from a Puritian society and most likely shared religious trauma from it (like it's pretty obvious Philip has some religious trauma djsks). They both share a collective trauma that while Wittebro healed from (dude got with a witch c'mon) Philip never did, continuing the cycle of abuse with the grimwalkers and titans via allying himself with The Collector. It'd be then so sweet to see these brothers to come together through the shared history of Wittebro and finally heal from their collective trauma together. Ending the cycle of abuse once and for all.

Oh and I called him Wittebro cuz we still don't know his name but I still am a William truther (I simply do not vibe with Caleb) and honestly it fits better. The Wittebane brothers are foils and William (vehement protecter) fits that better with Philip (friend of horses, horse being symbolic of military and military expansion in ancient Greece which is where the name Philip comes from). And writing this I realized the shortened nickname Will, would fit very well if my he made the Jean-Lucs theory is correct since well, he's the true actual will of the Titan/s.

Also also, if Wittebro was an ancestor to the Clawthornes I think it's sweet that his descendent, Eda, then raised and kept safe the last titan.

Oh and one final thing I realized. King's sonic scream is shown to be pretty powerful yet in Eclipse Lake Flapjack was able to completely block the attack hmmmm. Just putting this thought here.

Ok DONE. Ejsjsk just pure speculation on my end just thumbtacks and string here but these are my thoughts fjsksksk. If I am right about any of this (esp my Jean-Luc theory) I WILL piss. Ok gn
