A big, fat Nancy x Ace character analysis
My mind is so blown at how Nancy and Ace are literally just perfectly aligned with each other. In EVERY WAY. It’s soooo subtle and yet it’s not??? Not if you’re looking?
The way his calming, laid-back personality is SO well-suited to her tendency to get worked up; if she’s upset, he will back away and let her figure things out on her own time, which is exactly what she needs. Nancy is the kind of person who needs space to work through things before she can open up about them. Otherwise, if you try to make her talk before she’s ready, the results are usually explosive. It causes her to feel strained and mentally claustrophobic. She is otherwise a very smart and sensible person, so we know that this is simply her emotional process. Emotions can be messy, and I think it’s the one area of intelligence that she isn’t totally comfortable dealing in. If Nancy feels external pressure to talk about her feelings before she even knows what they ARE yet, it’s going to make her uncharacteristically cold. That’s what brings out the worst in her - and it’s something that is bypassed altogether in her relationship with Ace.
Not that we got to see this onscreen, but the fact that she was drawn to him before they even really knew each other in that she felt it was safe to vent to him about her personal problems with college.
Ace’s area of expertise (hacking & technology) is exactly where Nancy’s is not, so they can both contribute equally when they’re on a team. Speaking of which, when you combine ALL of their skills and knowledge there is SO MUCH TALENT between the two of them?! Between Nancy’s bold interrogation skills, ability to crack out a plan of action, fearlessness/fortitude, & of course her brilliant mind and Ace’s knowledge of hacking, ASL, morse code, and his instinctive smarts - like holy cow. They’re covered on all bases. Not to mention they’re both notably skilled in lockpicking.
Nancy is such a high-strung go-getter and Ace is so chill, yet dependable. He’s totally ride or die and will always be there if she wants to do anything, e.g. follow up on a lead. Like Kennedy said in her interview, they’re the ones who are always ready to go, go, go. Nancy’s the instigator, but Ace is along for the ride. Whatever she needs. (even if he originally insists that he won’t go 👀)
I also feel like there is kind of an unspoken understanding between the two of them. It’s not even that they’re super similar, but they’re both perceptive and they just... GET each other. Especially Ace; I think he has this really inherent grasp on who Nancy is, and while he’s been sort of a background player for her up until recently, she’s starting to see that and appreciate it as she spends more time with him. There’s this electric undercurrent of mutual respect between them and I LIVE for it.
I think Nancy needs someone like Ace to keep her grounded. By not asking her to open up, he encourages Nancy to open up to him. When Nancy is all stressed out in her head, Ace is there with sympathy and a relaxing spirit. If she needs to go somewhere or get something done, no matter the reason, he will be there with no questions asked. He serves as a steady guidepost, a rock, a beacon of calm and stability for her.
On the other hand, Ace may not need Nancy in the same way but she’s exactly the kind of person who will ENHANCE his life and make it better. Her presence allows him to explore his sleuthing abilities, something he’s totally adept at, and solving mysteries with her provides him with what feels like a purpose. That was something he said to Laura around mid-season 1; he felt like had a purpose in Horseshoe Bay. He has an opportunity now to care about other people, and to work towards a common goal for the greater good.
Ace is also very protective of Nancy when she has her emotional guard up. Twice in the last two episodes we saw her broach an uncomfortable topic in front of her friends (1x17 Ryan being her biological father, 1x18 “it’s where (Owen) used to.. have guests over...”), and BOTH times Ace immediately did what he could to divert attention away so she wouldn’t have to confront it with anyone before she was ready to. THAT’S LOVE, FAM.
Also, he’s constantly saying or doing things that make her give him that fond, amused little smile like she’s so surprised that someone with his brain could exist. It’s CUTE.
#cw nancy drew#nancy drew cw#nancy drew#nancy x ace#nace#cwnd spoilers#dear GOD i am a mess#1x18 broke me#this is my otp now#straight up#they'RE SOULMATES#it is OBVIOUS#*success

Everything has changed.
10 years ago, you, who used to write your name as ‘Aina Trixia Carmela’, would always complain because you have such a long name, and it’s tiring to write the whole name for a 2nd grader. Eventually, they corrected it as ‘Ainatrixia Carmela” which you are still using up until now, Oh! My bad, you just write ‘Aina Lazaro’ now, don’t you? You, who recently just learned how to use the computer, how to type on keyboard, how to open the system unit and the monitor. Remember when you were so mesmerized whenever the screensaver appeared on your monitor? You could even change that, you know? Also, You, who always plays the mouse’s ball underneath and would blame your younger cousin if it gets stucked or worse, if it breaks. You, who just knew Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, and One Direction at that time. You, who would jam to Katy Perry’s ‘California Gurls’, ‘Fireworks’, ‘Teenage Dream’, ‘Last Friday Night’, and of course, ‘The One That Got Away’, you used to listen to those songs, as if you understand their meaning. Heck! You didn’t even know that time that most of the songs you used to bop are sensual songs talking about making out, having sex… You were 8 years old! Also, to Queen Taylor Swift’s ‘Love Story’ and ‘You Belong with Me’, you were listening to those songs non-stop until your grandmother scolds you for playing it over and over again for the nth time. (10 years later, you’re still playing it non-stop.) You, when given a 20 pesos bill, it was such a huge amount, and would flaunt it to your childhood playmates, who are also your neighbors. With that 20 pesos bill, you already bought your favorite ‘tsitsirya’ Vinegar Pusit and Sweet Corn, bonus, you also could buy sago juice that cost 5 pesos back then. Remember how you would search the web for GTA San Andreas cheats and hacks, you’d write it down on a piece of white pad paper (You don’t use Yellow Pad Papers yet, but soon.) for you to use it and would later on ask for your Grandma to give you several ‘Mamesus’ (one peso coins) because you’ll go to that “piso-net” computer shops not far from your house to play the said game, and then you’ll lose track of the time and your strict aunt would fetch you holding her right sandal that’s ready to smack the hell out of you if you still don’t stop. Also, whenever you hear the “PSSSSSSST!” of her, and you see her standing in front of your gate, remember how you almost lost your shit and peed your pants, as you ran as fast as you can just to avoid getting lectured and eventually getting spanked using clothes’ hanger or her sandals if you did not go home immediately. Those times that scratching your knee and even letting it bleed until you go home, the smell of sweat after playing outside from 4 pm to 7 pm, and your “madungis” look. Remember how your grandma used to threaten you to lock you outside if you didn’t stop playing outside, playing ‘bangsak’, ‘patintero’, ‘langit-lupa’, tumbang preso, and hide-n-seek. Those games are tiring as hell, but it seems that you neve run out of energy, you’re always game whenever your playmates start shouting, “TRISH!! LARO NA TAYO!” Outside your house’s sari-sari store. POV: You just came home from school, your schedule, 06:30 am - 02:00 pm, you haven’t even got your afternoon nap yet, still tired from school, but you’ll immediately run towards the gate. Playing outside somehow is your favorite past-time as a child. Whenever you play you forget all your responsibilities, by responsibilities, I mean your homeworks that is due tomorrow. Life then was really much easier, and fun.
But as One Direction said in one of their songs, “Just how fast the night changes…” You grow older, and even your playmates. Your usual workload then eventually gets more and more as you age. The things that you used to enjoy, suddenly became uninteresting to you. Your urge to go out and play decreased little by little; you now rather stay indoors than play outside below the scorching hot weather, you don’t like feeling hot, you don’t like how sticky your sweat trickled on your skin, you find playing outside a childish thing, because you were older, and they said big girls don’t play game on the streets anymore. Yes, you still play, but you hardly do it then. If you’re really just bored, and you would come out, you’d watch other kids play, laugh when someone makes a mistake and even get irritated whenever they play the game wrong, you would think, “HINDI NAMAN GANYAN LARUIN ‘YAN!!!!”, but would rather stay silent and just watch them foolishly play the game wrong. Back then, You were eager to be a grown-up person, to be an adult, because you see how adults are living that time, they can go out whenever they want despite the time, they have their own money, and the likes. You, who at a young age, I think you were around 9? Or 10 that time, you learned how to commute, how to ride jeepneys and other public transportation all by yourself. You learned which color of Jeepney in Angeles you should ride if you’re going to a certain place. Gray and Purple Jeep to Balibago, Green if you came from Marisol and you want to be dropped off at the Market, Blue if you want to go to Pandan, Yellow if you want to go to Telebastagan, etc. Also, At a young age you learned how to cook yourself a meal, Your Grandma and Aunt are great cooks, you often hang out in the Kitchen whenever they are cooking meals, So one day, you asked them if they could teach you, which they gladly did. They first taught you the basics, like fried foods and as time passed, it got complicated like adding onions and garlic to the pan, and even measuring condiments.
Days, and Weeks, and Months, even Years passed. You and your family need to move out of the house where you grew, where you spent your whole 13 years, where you learned to walk, to think, where you met people that you considered as your own family, where you met your friends who were with you ever since you stood up on your 2 feet. In a blink of an eye, you were gone, and here you are in a new environment, a new house, new neighbors and people you need to get along with. You didn’t even have a chance to say goodbye to the people who were with you ever since, and with that, you were forced to move on and focus on the things that were present at that time. Aside from that, you are now in highschool, in 7th grade to be exact. You first met your Biological father. After 13 years of no communication, he suddenly reached out. You didn’t know what to feel so you were awkward with him. You don’t even like talking to him, whenever you two would voice call, you’ll just answer with ‘yes’, ‘no’, ’opo’, Which I totally understand. You were still a kid back then. Again, you’re a high school student now, new environment and people again. You spent almost 7 years in your last school, and the school you went to in your 7th grade wasn’t really your first choice right? You don’t even want to study in that school because your dream school was Chevalier School and Angeles City Science High School. Remember how you almost dropped out after the first week of high school? Your mother just forced you to attend that school, but deep inside you really don’t like that said school. First week as a 7th grader has passed, and you didn’t really enjoy it at all, you felt... left out. Despite your classmates, other students and teachers being friendly, you just feel like you didn’t belong there, You didn’t have a friend, you were practically a loner for the first week. So after a week of staying in that school, you practically begged you Grandma to drop you out, you were in a private school, you told your grandma that you didn’t like it, that you’d rather go to a public school than stay in that school.Your Grandma gave you a condition. “Please bear it for one more week… After that, I’ll transfer you to other schools. Just please try and bear it for one more week, Trixia.” So you did. You forced yourself to get up, and go to school, you were even counting down, you were eager for the week to end because you couldn’t wait to transfer schools. But, an unexpected turn of events happened. During the course of that one week, you met these people, they were your classmates, 6 girls to be specific. They just started talking to you, and somehow… you felt comfortable talking to them, being around them. So they started asking you to join them during recess and lunch… and then boom… You went to your Grandma one day, after you came home from school, and these words came out of your mouth, “Ma, I don’t want to transfer schools anymore. I will stay in Holy Fam.”
No one expected it at all. Not even you. So now, those girls were the sole reason you are still here in HFA. They’re the reason you stayed, and also the one of the reasons why you grew to love HFA. until now, you are still friends with them, they’re your best buddies. Then, in terms of school, There were many hardships, culture shock, sudden change of the environment, change of subjects that are more complicated than the ones taught to you during elementary. You weren’t used to this type of setting. So you struggled a lot, in academics, you got low grades, and even had failed grades back then. The ‘7’ never left your report card, your mom’s disappointed in you. That was a hard time for you back then, but you learned your lesson, you were never an academic achiever, so you tried to improve, gladly it worked. Anyway, it ain’t big but still, I’m proud of you for making an effort, at least you wanted to become and strived to be a better person, you are learning from your past mistakes. For your interests, Gosh how much have you changed over the years! You went from being a die-hard ‘Directioner’, a Louis Tomlinson’s girl, from being a KPOP fan, you liked EXO, and then you changed your ultimate group to Super Junior, which until now, you’re still a fan and they're still your main idols. You, who doesn’t like spending money back then because you’re a one stingy person, now… spends money on albums, on merchandise, to concerts and even a small piece of cardboard with their idol’s selfie in it. You have over 30 albums and 80 photocards (and counting) on your collection. You used to fangirl over One Direction, Daniel Padilla, Big Time Rush, and other western artists, now you simp over one korean guy in his 30’s named Kim Ryeowook. Just… What happened? If only you knew you were going to be a kpop fan, You should’ve saved up money 10 years ago so that you’re not broke at the moment. Not a wise choice, but if you’re happy, then so be it.
You thought everything’s going well and fine when suddenly, the biggest anchor in your life, your life support, the one who was with you ever since you came out to this world suddenly… left without notice. Everything shattered, your walls, your heart, your mind, your body, yourself crumbled when she suddenly left you. What hurts the most is that there’s no way that you could reach her now or even go to her, or hear her voice. You were at the rock bottom at that time, you felt like it’s your fault that she’s gone, you blame yourself, and you started to think that you have no sense in this world now, you don’t feel like living anymore because what’s the point now? She’s already gone. But thankfully you overcame that, you started to accept it, you started to forgive yourself for what happened, and you are still in the process of accepting and forgiving yourself. Small progress is still a progress. It takes time. Though you lost this person, please remember that she’s guarding you, she’s still looking out for you. Also, all your efforts and hardwork through the years, I’m actually glad that you made it, that you didn’t give up, and that you’re still here. I’m very, very proud of you for fighting, for holding on, for staying strong despite huge waves of problems that come in your way. I know that sometimes it’s so hard, and you feel like you don’t have the strength to carry on, and you’re thinking of giving up and ending it all, but even all of that, you didn’t do anything. So please, thank yourself, thank you for not doing that, for not giving up, for being strong. I know things aren’t well at the moment, you have so much worries regarding your future, and things aren't going in your way, but all will be well, and they will all pass. Please be strong. At such a young age you somehow learned to be independent, and that’s something to be proud of, even the one above would be proud of you, very much proud of you. You also became mature in your own way, you learned things in your own way, you have responsibilities now, you tried things, you risked, you failed, you succeeded. You are now really becoming an adult, it’s just that… You were so excited to become an adult back then, you badly wanted to be a grown up at a young age, and I know that now, you’re wishing that you just want to turn back time, where you have no responsibilities, without thinking about life, and such. You just want to enjoy things again. Whenever you come across kids playing outside, you can’t help but to reminisce those times, those times that you were the one playing that on the streets, with scratched knees and dirty hands, Oh how you wish that time can turn back it’s arms and just become a kid again. Everything has changed, from the way you dress, the way you talk and converse, the way you think, understand, and rationalize things, the way you prioritize things and decide. So much has changed. You’re not even a real adult now, you’re just beginning, you are just entering the adulthood phase. I know that you would make it. Next month, you’re finally graduating High School, and soon you’re venturing the College life, and then you wouldn’t even notice that you’re already working. I suggest that never make the same mistake again, don’t be so eager, don’t rush things up! You’ll eventually make it. I am rooting for you, Aina! The only thing that I’m looking forward to and is eager to see… is you being successful and finally reaching your dreams in the near future. Best of Luck, Aina!
— Aina, 210321

notable moments from The Future Job
leverage 2.13
Nate: Yeah, belief perseverance. People cling even tighter to their beliefs after they've been shown evidence contradicting them.
🥰 psych terms 🥰
- - - - -
Nate: All right, don't worry. This guy, Rand, is gonna pay. We're gonna make sure of that.
Ryan: I'm not here asking for money, Mr. Ford. I just want my sister back.
another noble client 😌
- - - - -
Parker: So this is where he shoots his show, huh? Surrounded by warehouses and storage lockers?
Nate: Well, it's, uh, local cable access. He's, uh, self financing. They're probably trying to score a bigger payday. Network or something.
[Interior Van]
Hardison: Yeah, you're right about that. I've hacked Rand's website, stole his passwords and used 'em to access his e-mail. You know, this man has his computer hooked up to the city's free Wi-Fi? My nana could hack this thing.
- - - - -
Woman (to Parker): Who are you hoping comes through today?
Parker: Nothing. What, uh, nobody. I don't wanna talk to anybody.
Nate: What's wrong?
Parker: I just don't like psychics, OK? They freak me out.
Nate: OK, just relax. All right? We're just here to see what tricks Rand has up his sleeve. That's all. Just..
- - - - -
Tara: What is that smell?
Hardison: What smell? I just washed this thing. You could eat off the floor.
Tara: No, there's a smell.
someone make a compilation of people disrespecting the van and hardison Not Having It™
- - - - -
Rand: It's, uh, It's not a gecko. You've shut yourself off to the energies that are around us. But, your friend here, she's a little more receptive.
(Parker fidgets)
Rand: In fact, I think I'm getting an energy right now. It's definitely family. Is it your father? No. No, it's a sibling. Brother.
(Parker looks down)
Rand: You were both very young. It was an accident. I see a road. I see a car. But your brother's not in the car. He's in the street. Wheels. I see wheels. A skateboard. No, a bicycle. Was he riding a bicycle when he was struck? He's been gone a long time from you now.
(Parker tries not to cry)
Rand: He's sorry that he had to leave you. He knows that you feel responsible, but he wants you to know it was an accident. You taught him to ride that bike, didn't you?
(Parker runs out of the studio)
Rand: That's all right. Sometimes people aren't ready to hear what the spirits have to say.
(Nate gets up and follows Parker out)
[Interior Van]
Tara: Damn.
Hardison: Damn.
Tara: He is good.
Hardison: He should be shot
this is heartbreaking but also see how hardison IMMEDIATELY wants to hurt the guy because NOBODY has the right to hurt parker like that. he cares about her so deeply, your honor
- - - - -
[Leverage HQ]
(Parker is sitting on the floor near the couch when the others walk in)
Nate: Parker?
Parker: There's no way he coulda known that stuff. I've never told anyone. No one. Ever.
this scene made my heart HURT
+
Nate: But, Parker, he didn't know anything.
Parker: No, Nate. You said we'd find a trick up his sleeve. You said we'd find a trick. Well, we didn't find a trick, did we? He knew things. He's really psychic.
Eliot: He's not a psychic, Parker. He's just a con man.
Nate: He just did a cold read on you. That's all.
Tara: He asked questions and used your answers to guide him.
Parker: But I didn't say anything (her voice cracks)
Nate: You didn't have to. Can I show you something?
(Hardison pulls up a feed of the show on the monitors)
Nate: Right, right there. Do you remember when he asked you, "Is this energy that I'm getting, does it have anything to do with your father?" Do you remember? Well, you furrowed your eyebrow. You might as well have told him, "No."
Tara: And then, when he keyed in on your brother, right here. Your eyes widened just slightly. He knew he was on the right track.
Hardison: Then he just guessed, Parker. He got a hit when he said that you were both very young and he just went with the odds. An accident of some kind.
Parker: But he knew about the bicycle.
Nate: No, he didn't. 'Cause what happened was he said "wheels," and then he moved on. He said "skateboard." You told him about the bicycle.
Parker: No, I didn't say anything.
Nate: You had a certain tell, Parker. Your mouth opened just a little bit. Enough for him to register your surprise. Then, well, he just guessed.
Tara: He used all these things during the reading. How your breathing changed, if your shoulders were raised or slouched, how you were holding your hands, if your, if your lips were pursed.
Parker: What about the other people? He knew names and relationships.
Nate: Yeah, the hot read. What he does is he researches before the show, gets himself armed with as much information as possible to help him with the readings. It's not really that much different than what we do.
Parker: But he doesn't know who's gonna be in the audience ahead of time.
Nate: Well, no. No, he doesn't. He doesn't know until they're there.
WHEN HER VOICE CRACKED I LOST IT
“but he knew about the bicycle” HER VULNERABLE SAD VOICE
- - - - -
Tara: So what do we do now?
Parker: Cut off his arms. And his head. Yeah. I wanna kill him. Can we make that happen?
Eliot: Yeah. I can... I mean, I could...
okay but THIS SCENE
IT HAS MY WHOLE (WHOLE) HEART
eliot, who has SWORN OFF killing, sees parker in such distress and hurt that he offers to bring back that part of his past for her.
he knows she’d never ask that of him, though, which is partially one of the reasons he felt comfortable offering. she would never abuse his past like that, even with how hurt she was and some part of him knows that when he speaks
he’d do anything for her because he loves her, even in season two. send tweet.
- - - - -
Rand: You wanna know what the trick is?
Wilson: Yeah.
Rand: It's confidence. You believe what you're saying and they'll believe it, too. Doesn't matter how many misses, 'cause it's the hits that they'll remember.
- - - - -
Tara: Two years ago, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The doctors removed it, but ever since, I guess you could say I was twice blessed. With renewed life, and with this gift.
Rand: You're serious.
(Tara takes his hand and guides it to the back of her head)
Tara: Feel the scar?
Rand: All right, then. Tell me something that only the spirits would know. Tell me about my father. How he died.
[Interior Van]
Hardison: Don't worry. I got you, girl.
Eliot: Wait a minute, we didn't give her that scar, did we?
Nate: No. We did not
tara has SO MUCH undiscussed backstory that I desperately want to know
- - - - -
(Rand takes his arms off the table and shakes them, surprised)
Tara: What's wrong?
Rand: I just felt something.
[Interior Van]
Hardison: Nate had me rig the table with a mild electrical current.
Eliot: You electrocuted him?
Hardison: Yes, I did. It helped sell the bit.
Parker: I approve.
Hardison: Thanks, Parker.
Eliot: No. Her agreein' with you is not a good thing.
Nate: (at Parker) Thanks
eliot when parker suggests something sketchy/morally grey: eh, whatever, I’ll stop her if she goes too far but it’s just who she is
eliot when nate does the Exact Same Thing™: NOPE. GET OUT OF HERE WITH THOSE HORRIFIC IDEAS. BAD NATE. *sprays him with water*
- - - - -
eliot laughing as he tows the car LMFAO RETRIBUTION IS A BITCH
+ hardison with the fortune cookies and the bandana (bonus if parker saved them to eat for breakfast)
+ nate smiling as he almost hits rand with his car
- - - - -
Nate: OK, you ready?
Hardison: You do realize what you're asking me to do is impossible, right?
Nate (hands him orange soda): Here ya go.
Hardison: And my gummy frogs. I need my gummy frogs.
Nate: You serious?
Hardison: Yeah.
(Nate goes and gets the gummy frogs and throws them to Hardison)
GIVE HIM HIS ORANGE SODA AND GUMMY FROGS. HE NEEDS THEM TO WORK!!!
also I LOVE how there is apparently a DRAWER of them in nate’s kitchen
- - - - -
tara squared up to fight too, even ready to brawl without eliot because she’s a BADASS
- - - - -
Tara: Her husband. She thinks he's cheating on her.
Hardison: How'd you know that? All I said was she hired a private investigator.
Eliot: Married woman in her 40s? She's not looking for the Maltese Falcon
maltese falcon? foreshadowing anyone???
- - - - -
Parker: So, what, Kusen has a secret and he's gonna kill Rand so he doesn't reveal it? That'd be good.
Eliot: No, you wanna kill someone you don't get out and throw 'em in a van. You don't get out of your seat
- - - - -
also this is like the third (?) episode in a row where eliot has lil braids in his hair, it’s adorable but I wonder if it’s significant ???
+ parker changed and now she’s wearing a pretty blue flannel
- - - - -
also apparently to get a paper seem old you crumple it a LOT and then sandpaper it??? (according to parker in this episode)
- - - - -
(Down the aisle, Hardison, Eliot and Parker round a corner moving boxes toward a storage unit)
Hardison: We need more boxes.
Parker: And a lot of luck.
Eliot: Yeah, well, I think we used all our luck on finding this place.
Hardison: Wait, hold, hold...
(Hardison tapes something to the back wall of the unit as the others move boxes)
Hardison: You know what? It ain't luck, OK? Finding the perfect place to end the treasure hunt is a testimony to my intellectual prowess.
(Eliot drops a box on Hardison’s foot)
Hardison: Ow. (Parker laughs)
Eliot: What? It's baby clothes.
Hardison: It says "books," man.
Eliot: Does it?
chaotic ot3
- - - - -
eliot next to parker with his head resting on his arm is v cute
- - - - -
the whole fam was there to gloat vengefully with parker and I love that for her
- - - - -
Tara: They do make a cute pair, don't they?
Nate: Let's see, we got, uh, we got assault, kidnapping and burglary for our friend, Kusen, and garden variety fraud for our psychic friend, Dalton Rand. Any way we can get them in the same prison?
Hardison: That could be arranged
PUT THEM IN THE SAME PRISON
- - - - -
Jodie: A part of me knew it wasn't real, but I didn't care. I missed Mike so much. I wanted to see him again so bad.
Nate: You will see him again. Maybe it'll be a look. (looks at Jodie’s pregnant stomach) Maybe it'll be a gesture. Maybe it'll be the way he spreads peanut butter on a slice of bread. But when you see it, you'll know and you'll say, "That's Mike." And you know what? That's a miracle no one could ever sell you.
Jodie: Thank you, Mr. Ford.
(Jody and Ryan get up and head for the door)
Tara: (eyes watering) Now I see why you do it.
- - - - -
(Parker stops Jody and Ryan before they leave)
Parker: Before you go, this is for your sister and the baby.
Ryan (looks in envelope): What is this?
Parker: It's the money Rand took from your sister. All of it.
Ryan: I don't know what to say.
(Ryan hugs Parker who reluctantly hugs him back before they leave. Parker sits down at the bar with Hardison and Eliot)
Eliot: Wait a sec. I thought you said all of Rand's money went into paying for his show. I thought you said he was broke.
Hardison: It did. He was.
Eliot: Where'd the money come from? Did you guys find the stolen money? Hmm? Did you find Kusen's loot?
(Parker and Hardison just look at Eliot)
Eliot: Without... Unbelievable. Hmm? (walks away)
Parker: He who looks for hidden money shall find it, if he is also a thief.
(Parker and Hardison clasp hands)
there are so many things about this I want to talk about:

What I Was Missing
Day 8: Abandoned | Isolation
Mr. Stark had been gone for a month. A whole miserable month of worrying and missing and seeing his face on the news just about every morning as every lead the Avengers had of him turned false and the man still being missing. Penny just wished there was something she could do to help, but May and Ms. Potts had both told her to just focus on school and patrolling, to not seek out trouble while Rhodey and Vision looked for Mr. Stark. As well as members of the UN, and the FBI, and the CIA, and literally everyone else.
What could she, an untrained teenage girl (who while extremely strong was, once again, untrained) do to find her mentor? Nothing--apparently--was what. So that's what Penny had been doing; Nothing. And it sucked. It sucked knowing Mr. Stark was out there somewhere, probably hurt and alone, missing Rhodey and Ms. Potts--and maybe her too--and she was doing nothing to help find him, even though she knew that if the same thing had happened to her, the man wouldn't rest until she was found.
At first, Penny had been okay to wait, to sit back and let the Avengers handle finding her mentor, however antsy and discontent it made her. But then two days had turn into two weeks, and now that two weeks had turned into a month, and still no Mr. Stark.
Despite the absence of her mentor, Happy had continued to drive her to the compound every other Friday so she could fix up any damages to her suit. Which was why she was now in the back of his car, staring forlornly out the window at the city which had turned into a forested highway, indicating that they weren't far away now.
Happy had been silent the entire ride, save for a curt greeting when he'd first picked her up, which was normal for him, but the silence in the car was different. She didn't quite know how to describe it other than that she could tell Happy missed Mr. Stark too, and that he kept glancing back at her through the mirror.
They arrived at the compound within the next few silent and sad minutes. Happy pulled up the car outside, and while the compound had always made her stare no matter how long she'd been coming, it seemed much less impressive with Mr. Stark gone.
The bodyguard escorted her to Mr. Stark's lab, reminding her gruffly not to blow anything up, which dragged a faint smile out of her, though it was barely there. And then he was gone.
"Hey, Friday," Penny greeted the AI once the elevator doors had closed on Happy, "How've you been holding up?"
Despite the AI being, well, an AI, Penny made the effort to talk to her whenever she came over. After all, she must be missing Mr. Stark too, as evidenced by Friday's soft response, "I am well, Penny. I've been very busy without Mr. Stark here to help. And you?"
"Fine," she responded stiffly, "Uh, let's just get started."
"Very well. What would you like to work on today?"
"Um, pull up the Spider-Mark 1 schematics," she ordered, beginning to take the suit out of her bag, "And scan the suit. Identify weak points and we'll work from there."
Friday did as told, and Penny spent close to an hour fixing and repairing her suit, the whole time fighting down bile. She was working in Mr. Stark's lab, using his materials and his resources, to work on his suit--and he wasn't even there. Because he was kidnapped. Because he was most likely hurt and it had been a month and every lead had turned up false and he was probably dead and--
"Shit!" Penny exclaimed, leaping back as she burned herself working on the wiring of her suit.
"Penny, are you alright?" Friday asked, concerned, and then she was crying.
Silent tears slipped out of her eyes and down her cheeks, hot against her face, and she wasn't quite sure why. Except for that Mr. Stark was gone, that she hadn't seen him in a month, that Friday was the one checking up on her and not him, and that she couldn't lose someone else. After Ben...she just couldn't. Couldn't lose someone else she cared for so much, someone she loved.
It took a full ten minutes for her to calm down, Friday talking her through breathing properly and playing calming sounds, but it would never come close to way Mr. Stark had calmed her down from panic attacks. To the way he would hold her hand or hug her, his hand often wading through her hair. And it always worked, it always calmed her down, because he was Mr. Stark, and he always knew what to do.
And now she had to know what to do. She wasn't quite sure what, but it came over her then. She had to find him, had to help. He was her mentor, and she'd done nothing to find him. She couldn't--she wouldn't be able to sleep--not that she had been well anyway--until she knew he was okay again.
Penny looked around the room, the room that was still littered with traces of Mr. Stark, from the forgotten mugs and the beginnings of projects she prayed he'd be able to finish. She'd start here. She couldn't ask Friday, or Rhodey or Vision. None of them would tell her anything, and Rhodey and Vision were chasing what was probably another false lead at the moment. She checked the watch on her wrist--a gift from Mr. Stark--to discover she only had another five minutes before Happy would be down to take her home.
She had a lot of work to do. And no time.
The teen started at where she thought would be most obvious; Mr. Stark's desk. Well, designated desk. She thought he'd only put the nameplate on it to make her feel more comfortable about her own desk, which had its own spider-themed nameplate that up until now had never failed to make her smile. But almost nothing seemed to make her able to smile anymore, not like she used to.
There ended up not being much, even in the drawers. The only thing that grabbed her attention was a plain, cheap, flip phone. She paused when she saw it, placed atop a stack of papers. Why would Mr. Stark have such a useless phone when he had top of the line ones produced by his own company? Just as she was considering moving on, her senses spiked at the arrival of the elevator, and with no other leads or information, she snatched the crappy phone up and placed it in her pocket just as Happy's face appeared through the now open elevator doors.
"Ready to go home, kid?" he asked.
She nodded.
----
As it turned out, the cellphone actually had a reason for being something Mr. Stark would keep.
Once Happy had taken her home, she'd rushed up into her apartment. May was working, so Penny set up in the living room, flipping open the phone. The only thing on the crappy phone screen was a contact. Steve Rogers.
"Holy shit," she mumbled. She didn't know that Mr. Stark still kept in contact with the Captain, or why they were using a flip phone when Mr. Stark could most definitely come up with a thousand other untraceable ways.
Now, under other circumstances, she most definitely wouldn't call Captain America. She knew what had happened in Syberia, she knew that he had hurt her mentor. A lot. She didn't trust Captain America, and there was certainly no reason for him to trust her. But Mr. Stark was missing, and he was an expert tracker. The Avengers had been searching for him for a month, with nothing to show for it but a whole lot of worry and grief.
In truth, she was desperate. And desperate people were willing to do a lot.
She pressed the button, the phone vibrating slightly as the ringtone rang through the air. She held the phone to her ear, standing up and crossing her arms, her leg jittering against the wood floor. It felt like forever but was probably a total of seconds before the sound cut out and a voice answered.
"Tony?" asked Mr. Rogers, and she took in a sharp breath.
"Uh, no. This is, ah, Spider-Woman. From Germany?"
There was a pause before he hummed, his voice more hostile than before, "I'm familiar. How'd you get this phone?"
"Well, Mr. Stark's been missing, so I was going--"
"Tony's missing?" Mr. Rogers interrupted, and she blinked.
"You--you didn't know? He's been gone for a month, sir." Mr. Rogers was silent at that, so she rushed to carry on, practically begging. She couldn't lose Mr. Stark, "Uh, Colonel Rhodes and Mr. Vision haven't had much luck, so I went through Mr. Stark's desk, and I found this phone so I just thought I'd call you. See if you could--if you could find him? Please."
The man was silent for so long she thought he'd hung up, but he spoke just as she was pulling the phone away from her ear, and she rushed to put it back.
"Of course. We'll start now. But there's a couple of things I'll need."
"Yeah, yeah!" she agreed excitedly. Anything for Mr. Stark to be safe, "What do you need?"
"Do you have access to the Quinjet?"
She paused, "Uh, I think so. If not, I can hack it."
"You can hack it?"
"It's not that hard, Mr. Rogers."
"...Duly noted," the man said after a moment, "Take that and meet us at the coordinates I'll text you in a moment. Bring whatever footage or leads you have of when Tony was taken. Get our old weapons too, if you can. Can you do that?"
"Yeah," she agreed hesitantly. At least she didn't have school, but May was definitely going to notice her absence... She'd have to leave a note.
"Good." And then he hung up, a string of numbers in a text message his last words to her. That, was, until she saw him again, wherever these numbers led to.
------
Tony had been in worse scrapes than this, probably a million times, but it was a little different than Afghanistan. For one thing, his captors were familiar with his work--which, who wasn't?--which was unfortunate, because it meant he was always under close supervision, never had a true moment to himself, and thus couldn't make anything to break his way out of here. Well, he had the beginnings of a bomb already, but it was slow going, as evidenced by how long he'd been in this stupid office building.
He wasn't sure quite how long, the time being kept from him, but he was sure it had been at least a month by now, not that his internal clock had ever been any good.
But what was different about this place compared to Afghanistan, was that he had a family now. A family he missed terribly. He had a fiancee, who's bright eyes and witty jokes never failed to make his heart melt. He had his best friend, practically brother, who had been there for him for years, always ready to help, even when he'd been a snot-nosed kid in college. And now he had his own snot-nosed kid, who was smart and sweet and always made him smile.
And he missed them. He missed them a lot.
The man often found himself thinking about what his family was doing. How was Pepper getting along? Was she scared, or was she used to this from him? A part of him worried if this was the final straw to drive her away from him, and he prayed to anyone he did and didn't believe in that it wasn't.
What about Rhodey? He doubted the man had even taken a second to look after himself in his search for Tony, much like after Afghanistan, flying around in his suit instead of going to physical therapy like he should be. Tony would have to make him new braces when he got back.
And Penny? Well, he just hoped the kid hadn't come searching for him. These were some pretty dangerous guys, after super solider serums and nuclear weapons, and the girl fell right in the 'enhanced we'd like to kidnap and experiment on' category. If she got caught looking for him...it wouldn't be good. But Happy should be keeping an eye on her, so she'd be fine. Hopefully.
Tony flinched at the BANG! BANG! against his door, the metal in the wall opening up, revealing the usual sight he was met with. An entourage of armed guards wearing tacky emo armor. The guard that had stood in his cell all night yawned, as though this were the most boring thing in the world, and left, his shift of babysitting the billionaire over.
"Morning, Stark," greeted Hudson, the leader of the group. He had light brown hair and a frustratingly charming smile that really only made his face more punchable. Tony didn't say anything in response, just gave him a glare from underneath his greasy hair. Hudson rolled his eyes, clicking his tongue in annoyance, "Take him to the workshop. I'd like to have this finished by next week."
"Yes, sir," a guard responded, and Tony was forced to his feet and herded out of the dark and dirty room into what would be a bright and slightly less dirty room. His 'workshop,' though it didn't hold a candle to his one at the compound. It wasn't nearly as crude as the cave in Afghanistan, but he would call it barely better than a high school workshop, which wasn't really saying much.
The hallway to the workshop was long, filled with many what used to be conference rooms and offices transformed into a special little terrorist base on the edge of Switzerland. Once you got past the murder and the torture and the white supremacy of it all, it really wasn't too bad. The food was decent at least, a little dry though.
Tony's mouth quirked at his own humor, and he hoped it would be enough to get him through the day. Humor was a useful tool, one he used well, but he was running dry after the amount of time he'd spent in this place. It was barely enough to keep him from reminiscing of Pepper. And Rhodey. And--
The lights suddenly flashed, the fire alarms on the wall screeching as the glaring on and off, and he wished he could cover his ears at the blaring sound, but unfortunately they had to stay crossed on the back of his head. He could move his elbows a little though.
The hallways then turned dark as the lights turned off, the only thing on being the fire alarm that was blinking lazily occasionally, but still screechin overhead. He hoped this place was actually on fire, and that it wasn't a drill or something, but something told him it was a little bit more.
He was right.
Barely a moment later, as the guards were muttering to themselves confusedly, a much-too-familiar-shield came streaking out of the dark hallway, bouncing off of at least three guy's heads before streaming back to its holder. Those hit dropped to the floor, and really, Tony did want to get out of here, but at what cost? Steve's smug face wasn't really worth it.
Still, he took the opportunity, elbowing the nearest guy as Steve came rushing out of the darkness, his shield that he somehow had held in front of him threateningly. It was all Tony could do not to break down and have a panic attack at the sight, instead letting the adrenaline begin to run through his body as he continued to fight.
The surprised guards just apparently couldn't come back to their senses at the sight of Captain America--which he really got. Like, that beard? That was a no--and the fight was over in barely a minute, all of them down on the ground.
Tony picked up one of their guns, sniffing as he turned to look at his former friend. Former, "What are you doing here?"
"You're welcome."
"I didn't ask for your help."
"But you needed it."
"I had an escape plan," Tony lied. He had like, 12% of an escape plan. Whatever, it was a plan.
"You've been gone for a month."
"Wow, surprised you noticed."
"Actually--"
The lights flashed back on again, interrupting Steve. They flickered back on to reveal more guards. Lots of more guards, now clearly more prepared to take them down. Though in the narrow hallways, at least their numbers meant nothing. With guns anyway.
"We'll talk later," Steve muttered, bending his knees in a defensive stance.
"I hope not," Tony replied, cocking the gun. The leader opened his mouth to say something, probably along the lines of 'surrender and we won't kill you' when--
"Y'know, you guys really should be nicer to each other," chirped a voice. A familiar voice. And then a web covered the leader's mouth, seemingly sticking his surprised expression in place.
Tony sighed, "Goddammit."
Spider-Woman dropped down from where she'd apparently been hiding in a vent, crouching protectively in front of him, despite how much he wanted the girl behind him so he could protect her.
"Hey, Mr. Stark. How've you been?" she asked, false bravado clear in her voice.
"Well I was worrying a little less, but now... Not so much."
"Aw, that's so sweet," the girl joked, and he couldn't help but smile, her joyous nature infectious. He was still mad though. Absolutely furious that she was here, with Steve, and not at home, "Anyway, I've only been here a few minutes and it kinda drags. Can we leave?"
"Just gotta get through them first, kid," Steve said. And they did. Wilson, Romanoff, and Wanda appeared barely a minute into the fight, and with their combined effort it barely ended up being much of a fight. He had to commend the kid for being a much better fighter than when he'd first brought her along to Germany, but he was still mad.
He waited to say anything until they had made it out of the building, and he blinked at the pale light outside, glad to finally not be trapped in that stupid building. Penny trailed a little bit behind him, clearly waiting to catch him if he fell or whatever.
Tony wanted to say he was surprised at the sight of the Quinjet--the new one, not the old one Steve had taken--but he couldn't say he was. What with the shield, and Sam's wings, it was painfully obvious to him that they'd been by the compound. But why no Rhodes or Vision? Unless...
"Please tell me you didn't hack the Quinjet," he said to Penny as the deck lowered for them.
"I, ah, um, uhhhhh--" the girl stuttered, but Steve cut her off.
"I told her to, Tony. I thought it'd be easier for her to reach us than us her," he explained, and Tony just raised an eyebrow.
"Would someone like to explain what the hell is going on?" he asked.
"Yeah," Sam answered, "We saved you. Boom, end of story."
"Not a very descriptive story," Tony drawled as he entered the jet.
"A better story would be that we've been underground for a couple of months on a mission," Nat started, "Spidey called us, said you were missing and asked for some help. She brought the stuff and we tracked you down."
Tony sighed again, pinching his brow, and he could practically feel Penny's nervousness, "Kid...you--how'd you even get in contact with them?"
"Oh, I found that phone in your lab. I took it when Happy wasn't looking."
"Of course you did," he said, shaking his head, because, really, he should've expected this. Penny was relentless, and frustratingly loyal. A month had been stretching it thin for her, he was sure, and he was impressed she hadn't gone dashing for him the first week in.
"Sorry for hacking the Quinjet, Mr. Stark," she apologized meekly.
"What are you talking about? You have access."
"Yeah, but I had to make it so it wouldn't announce me leaving."
"That reminds me. I'm gonna have a talk with Rhodey about keeping a better eye on you."
"Colonel Rhodes is in Turkey," she responded. Because of course he was.
"Whatever, kid," he said, wrapping an arm around her shoulder as he sat down in the ship, "But I'm still grounding you."
"Yeah, sure. I've never been grounded a day in my life."
"It's only been a few years."
"Shut up."
Tony grinned. He had a part of his family back, and he couldn't wait to see the rest of them back home.

Hi guys! I am Shane Madrid from Abulug, Cagayan. I am 16 years old, and a Grade 11-STEM student in St. Paul University Philippines.
As of my hobbies, I have a lot of it. I like reading random books from random apps and websites. I am a wattpader, that's what wattpad reader call themselves. And I am also a Daoist, a 'Webnovel' reader. Well, this app is my favorite. I really like those chinese novels translated to English. Especially the novel, 'Full Marks Hidden Marrige'. A real page-turner and hooker. I like the chinese cultures I learned from it, also the idioms-like sentences they use and their meanings.
I am also a fangirl. A K-Pop fangirl to be exact. I am a pure-blooded EXO-L and I start idolizing them when I was in my 8th grade. My bias is Do Kyungsoo and no one from the group can wreck my bias for him. To my co-EXO-Ls out there, comeback is coming and I am so excited. Fam, we need to celebraaaaaate!
I also love being in the water. I love swimming in the beach, pool, surface or underground rivers, falls, stream and any body of water there is. And If ever I don't have the opportunity to do so, I just go and stay in the bath for a very long time.
I also listen to Bruno Mars' songs because I really love his voice and the way he sang is so touching. I like the story of the music, especially his 'When I was your man'. And in terms of classical music, I love Yiruma's piece. 'Moonlight, Kiss the Rain, River flows on you etc. I love all of them. Even though, it doesn't have any lyrics, it's capable of warming my heart, relaxing my mind and changing my mood. I always play them when I'm reviewing my notes.
I am also someone who loves to ride motorcycle. In my 8th grade, my dad bought me one and I always use it to go just anywhere with my friends. I love the feeling of my hair waving because of the fresh air and the sound of the music we sang that got lost as we go in our way.
And I think it's obvious that I really love food. Like, who doesn't? But I don't have a favorite. I eat foods base on my mood and sudden cravings. But the thing I usually eat is, Chicken Adobo plus Hotdog. I love the combination of these dishes in my plate of rice.
Well, it's nice to meet you!
I am also the type of friend or student that won't let you copy my work. My close friends know that for a fact. And I'm glad that they understand that I'm doing that not because I'm selfish but because I want them to do it on their own. In life, they need to be independent and stand on their own feet. If they want me to help them,I always teach them on how to get the answer and not the answer itself.
Let me answer the following questions:
1. Where do I see myself 10 years from now? Was my learning in SPUP vital to where I'm leading to?
- I see myself 10 years from now as a medicine student. I think I would be on my last year on a medical school. I see myself working hard to pass all my subjects and taking good care of the patients assigned to me if ever there is. And yes, my learning in SPUP is very vital to where I'm leading to. Because SPUP has a complete and advance facilities for students like me who wants to pursue medicine. They also molded not only my intelligence but also my character. And that's the best thing.
2. Was STEM the best choice after all?
-Yes,STEM is the best choice in my case. Because of it ,I learned the basics of the subjects I will learn when I entered the college. It readied me to the hardships I will experience soon as I take the course connected to STEM so it won't be that hard for me to adjust.
3. What course will you take in College and why?
-First, I will take BS Nursing as my pre-med then after earning my Bachelor's degree, I will enter the medical school. My desire for being a Doctor started when I was a little kid. My mom brought me to a Hospital and I was amazed and at the same time inspired by how those medics treat the different illness of people. Even though it's kinda weird, I also like the disinfectant scent in hospital. From then on, I knew to myself that I was born to work in a Hospital and help people.
4. What topic would you like to learn more in this subject?
-I like to learn about security. I want to learn how to secure my social media accounts. I want to know tricks in the computer that other users doesn't know. I also want to learn how to hack. I want to improve my computer skills in every way possible because I noticed that I am kinda noob in this aspect.
5. AMA(Ask Me Anything)
How to hack, Sir?

can’t stay away
Hi friends! Happy Monday! How was the weekend? I hope you had a great one!
We’re back from a quick fall break trip to San Diego and Anaheim. A couple of months ago, I remembered that the girls had days off school, so I booked some plane tickets with Southwest miles for a little getaway. It was a special treat that the Pilot was able to join us for a night. It’s crazy because he can hop on any flight (just has to reserve a spot through an app!) and even though it’s standby basis, if you choose flights wisely, it works out. He had to leave early Thursday morning for his own flights, but we were so happy to spend a night at the beach with him!
Thursday morning, the girls and I grabbed breakfast at Better Buzz and hit the road to Anaheim. It’s such a quick and easy drive from San Diego, and it’s a fun way to split up the trip. We checked into the hotel and hit up the parks for the rest of the day before grabbing dinner at Downtown Disney.
While we were in Tucson getting ready for our trip, Liv started talking about all of the crazy rides she wanted to go on. I knew she would be fine if we had to do more low-key rides with P – we’ve done it before at Disney World when it was just the 3 of us – but I kind of wished I had another adult that could swap out with me if only one kid wanted to do something. On a whim, I texted our San Diego babysitter to see if she’d be down for a Disney trip with us. She immediately texted back and said she was in! It was SO perfect!! She’s like a part of our family – we all cried when we left San Diego because she’d been helping us with the girls for two years – and she visited us for a couple of weeks when we were in Georgia. It was so awesome to hang out with her again and the girls were PUMPED.
(The girls’ Anna, Jasmine, and Elena dresses are all from this site, Placard Originals. She makes the most gorgeous play-quality princess dresses! The only kicker is that you have to be online right when each one launches because they sell out immediately.)
Liv ended up not being in a “crazy ride” kinda mood while we were there, but P, the little daredevil, wanted to ride everything she was tall enough to go on. (And she’s super tall for her age haha.) Ari and I switched off taking the girls on the rides they wanted to ride, rode all of the rides we could do together, and also got fast passes for the rides we wanted to go on! We each got to do Splash Mountain and Indiana Jones by ourselves and Ari did the Guardians of the Galaxy ride. (Note for fast passes: don’t get fast passes for everyone in your party if only one kid wants to ride the ride! You can do a rider swap” where one adult takes the kid, and the other stays with another child, and then you swap out. You can read about how to hack this here along with my tips for Disney World with two small kids.) In between rides, character greetings, and shows, we ate all the delicious Disney food (dinner at Goofy’s Kitchen has become one of our faves), had the best Micheladas at California Adventure, and shopped a bit.
(Worth noting that we didn’t stay at our usual spot, the Hilton Anaheim, because it was booked way in advance. I used Hotwire’s Hot Rate, which is code for, “Tricked ya, MOFOS!” 10/10 would not recommend. It doesn’t let you see the hotel in advance, and it’s non-refundable. The website claimed it would be similar to a Hilton or Intercontinental and the Anaheim Hotel is….not. It smelled like the entire property had swam in an ocean of Febreeze and all of the rooms were outdoor. It ended up not being a huge deal because when you’re at Disney, you just go to the hotel to sleep, but definitely will not trust the Hot Rate thing again.)
We drove back to San Diego, dropped off Ari, checked into our third hotel of the trip (Courtyard Marriott in Liberty Station and it felt like a Four Seasons after our Anaheim experience lol), and then met Betsy and her fam for pizza at Venetian. We chatted it up over some wine and amazing Mediterranean salads while the kiddos ate pizza, and we followed it up with ice cream at Baskin Robbins. The girls and I headed back to the hotel and called it a night! They ended up sleeping until 8am almost every day of the trip and it.was.glorious. I’m sure school wakeup this morning will be a little rough.
The next morning, the girls and I had breakfast buffet at the hotel, then went to some of our favorite spots. I got in a workout at Point Loma Sports Club aka the best gym ever. This is one of the spots where I taught in SD, and they have a gorgeous facility, brand-new equipment (everything you could want!!) and the kindest people. I haven’t felt a gym that’s given me the same vibe since we’ve been back in Tucson (except maybe the base gym and it’s pretty far from our house) and I think it’s a big reason why I haven’t been lifting very many weights on my own lately. It felt good to walk in and feel so motivated! Here’s what I did:
After my workout, we played at the park in Liberty Station for about an hour, then one more stop at Better Buzz before heading to the airport.
While we were in San Diego, I got quite a few DMs asking me if we were planning on moving back. The Pilot and I talk about it a LOT and each time we go back, it feels like we live there again. For now, it’s so nice being in Tucson, especially since we’re close to family (!!) but in a few years, we might consider heading back that way. If anything, it will continue to be a frequent vacation spot. We just love it too much.
This morning, it’s back to the swing of things over here! I’m jumping right back in: two drafts due today, a conference call, lots of behind-the scenes blog work that went untouched all weekend, and party planning for the Pilot and P.
I hope you have a happy Monday and I’ll see ya soon! Thanks for stopping by the blog today.
xo

You can do a “rider swap” where one adult takes the kid, and the other stays with another child, and then you swap out.
It ended up not being a huge deal because when you’re at Disney, you just go to the hotel to sleep, but definitely will not trust the Hot Rate thing again.)

it time for headcanons.
LET’S A GO
PLOT WITH ME ASSHOLES
emrys vaughn, daughter of taran and eilonwy
ALL ABOUT THE DARK ARTS
like she likes all magic but she’s more interested in the dark arts bc they’re mysterious and people don’t know as much about them so she’s all about dISCOVERING
kinda quiet and people think she’s shy but tbh she’s not she just prefers not to socialise
tho she can be kinda awkward, maybe even a little tactless at times
if you’re loud chances are she’ll ignore u as much as possible
she sorta fades into the background??
aLWAYS IN THE LIBRARY
she’s pretty chill with her parents but they don’t actually know how much she’s dabbled in the dark arts
she can play the harp bc fflewddur fflam taught her how
when she wants to know something, she can be a little obsessive about it, but she doesn’t voice that much
madrigal park, son of musa and riven
muse and riven break up in season 6?? didn’t happen
in fact nothing past season 3 happened to them i’m fucking bitter
season 4 who??
except for the different magic ok madrigal has all the transformations up to his believix and is working on his harmonix
his powers are all music based (obviously) and he has very sharp ears
because of his powers he can’t stand silence
dUDE CAN SING AND PLAY SO MANY INSTRUMENTS FAM
he basically has all of his mother’s powers, so he can create musical magical force fields and sound waves and can control people via dancing and shit it’s cray
HE A FLIRT
he’s sort of a bad flirt tho like he’s so obvious?? not all that smooth
he doesn’t hide it if he likes someone tho, if he likes u, U KNO
he’ll like stare and sigh he a mess
he loves his parents but he doesn’t see riven as much as musa since he’s always busy with top secret specialist stuff, but he sees him often enough that he doesn’t feel abandoned or anything
jade lucitor, daughter of tom lucitor and janna ordonia
DEMON PRINCESS
she’s a lot like janna, a complete detention kid, always invading other people’s privacy by taking their shit
it’s to the point where all she needs to do is walk into room, say “heeeeeeeeey uncle marco” and marco is just “NOPE BYE”
needless to say she loves messing with uncle marco
her emotions are wAY more under control than her father, mainly because she’s so much like janna and she doesn’t really get angry as much as she lets things just roll over her
will 110% steal your shit
she’s a cheerleader tho the uniform doesn’t completely match her style, so she usually wears a leather jacket over it or smth
she loves messing with her dad as well just to see him burst into flames and shit
she has all of tom’s powers other than body part restoration, so if she loses a limb it’s gone for good
rEALLY loves joyriding, especially in other people’s cars
odette della robbia, daughter of odd della robbia
SKATER CHICK
she’s travelled a lot since odd became a movie director when he grew up and would take odette to sets when she wasn’t in school
her mum died when he she was younger of illness
tOTAL DADDY’S GIRL
she’s really chill tbh
SHE’S A HUGE DORK but also probably the most ~normal~ of my characters so far??
she heard a lot about lyoko growing up bc odd and the others would tell the kids about it like it was fake and some sort of game they played when they were younger, so she doesn’t actually think lyoko is a legit place
she’s pretty athletic, kinda sports-oriented, but she’s also pretty good at art and paints a lot of murals
will probably break anything within a ten metre radius
she loves dyeing her hair with different streaks, since when she was little she was really bothered that she didn’t have purple in her hair like odd does
she has a dog called kiwi 2
casper hart, son of the queen of hearts
this bitch
he’s really dramatic and full of himself, but it’s only because the queen of hearts was very specific about what he needed to do to be perfect and he was hella stressed out about it so he was like “wELL IF I ACT CONFIDENT THEN I’LL BE CONFIDENT EVENTUALLY” and it kinda worked??
just wants his mama to be proud of him tho
probably the drama club’s Ace Actor
and as such he studies theatre at the university
he’s a bit lost without the isle because his part of the isle was controlled by his mum so he had it fairly easy for someone on the isle, but now he’s at the bottom of the pile so he’s like ????
he’s really good at card tricks
lowkey scared of jabberwockies but he aint about to say so
has a serious sweet tooth
u know that kisses thing jin does?? casper does that completely pls stop him
would most likely marry himself
but he’s also kinda romantic ??? if he stops looking in the mirror for 2 seconds anyway
asuka beatles, daughter of kuki sanban/numbuh 3 and wallabee beatles/numbuh 4
can speak japanese fluently
she grew up being a kids next door operative
she’s now a teens next door operative and she’s terrified of turning 20 because she knows she’ll probably be decommissioned and she doesn’t know how she’ll cope without the knd/tnd
DON’T GET HER ANGRY
she will kick your ass over the pettiest thing i s2g
she’s really good at combat, since her role in the knd/tnd was the hand-to-hand combat expert like her father
she has dyslexia and really struggles in classes because of it, which is why she prefers sports
that being said, she’s HELLA athletic
she also doesn’t want to take her classes too seriously because that’s an ~adult~ thing to do and she doesn’t want to be an adult rip
she really loves her parents and sleeps with an orange and a green rainbow monkey bc she misses them
loves sleeping in
blaze utonium, son of blossom and brick
he’s a highkey genius tbh but he prefers to hdie it and be lowkey about it
he’s very quiet, kinda stoic?? doesn’t cause problems and acts really chill in front of teachers, but he likes to stir up trouble every now and then
boi can fly and has blossom’s ice breath
he can ride a motorcycle
he’s the scary kind of angry. if u get him angry, he won’t straight up yell at u, but he’ll get his revenge ok, HE WILL
he’s not eVIL but he’s definitely his father’s son in a way??
he can also be sort of a perfectionist like blossom but not to the same extent as her
he's never met his grandparents on his dad’s side aka mojo jojo and him, since they’re on the isle, and he’s lowkey curious as to who they are and what they’re like in person??
someone pls gimme his cousins
he’s very scientific and knows heaps of shit about chemicals but he handles safely. most of the time
ekaterina ‘ekat’ holt, daughter of katie holt/pidge gunderson
MY GIRL DOES NOT DO WELL UNDER PRESSURE
unless it has to do with computers and hacking
besides her mother (and allura), she’s pretty much been raised by guys her whole life so she knows how to deal with them most of the time
they’re also hella protective of her probably especially uncle matt
my girl has no sense of a sleep schedule she’s just like “THERE IS COMPUTER TIME AND THERE IS SLEEP TIME THERE IS NO IN-BETWEEN”
really wants to inherit the green lion but she has self-confidence issues so she feels like she has no hope
she’s also easily spooked, like she fucking hates jump scares and haunted houses
when she’s upset she calls coran bc he always makes her feel better
when she was little she wanted to be an altean princess
she has several modes of sleep deprivation bc she can stay awake for an absurdly long amount of time
24 hours: somewhat lethargic, spacey, more likely to agree to do something
48 hours: frustrated, slaps herself to stay awake, squints at the screen
72 hours: READY TO KILL, DO NOT INTERACT
harlow fenton, daughter of danny fenton and sam manson
bubbly half-ghost
really wants to be unique and do her own thing like she’ll wear crazy outfits and is sorta the class clown almost??
hella popular because she’s so friendly and social and stuff
can be snarky to the point of being mean even though she doesn’t intend to be?? she’s just thoughtless sometimes when it comes to other people and how they feel
most of the time if you want her to know how you feel, you have to tell or show her point-blank bc she’s not gonna get it
when she’s in her ghost form?? gOTTA GO FAST
even tho danny wouldn’t want her to bc gOTTA KEEP THE KIDS SAFE
but she went fast anyways
causing trouble everywhere
she’s a vegetarian, but she’s also anaemic
she’s a social media addict ok, always on snapchat with her friends, recording videos and stuff, taking heaps of selfies
loves freaking people out by popping out of walls in her ghost form and shit
she and sam argue quite a bit since they’re different, but also very similar in a lot of ways?? like they both want to be free to be their own person, it’s just that who they wanna be is different

Persona 5 Headcanon: Studying w/ The Phantom Thieves
A lack of P5 imagines here... And so, to begin finals week, I’m gonna take advantage of it. :P :3 I got you fam. [I haven’t finished playing through the game, so some characters might be shorter than others... I literally only just finished changing Madarame’s heart]
|Masterlist Link|
Just fyi, I’ve been a Persona fan since P4′s first month of release... so before everyone’s hype... which actually seems to be the trend in my interests... After playing through P4, I played through P3... then P3P because I wanted to play as a girl (can’t blame me, I’m attracted to Shinjiro and Akihiko... >.>;) Then, I played through Persona 4 Golden, then PQ ;#
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Protagonist/Akira Kurusu/Shin Akaashi
- It might not seem like it, but Shin actually dedicates a bit of his time to studying the class material that he has no problem taking on the task of helping you study.
- If you’re a friend of his, no matter how difficult to make friends with him it is... he’ll dedicate his time to make you understand the various concepts no matter how simply or tricky. Don’t bother asking Shin for help studying if you don’t really know him. He might be kind, but he’s honestly got better things to be doing, so he’ll turn a stranger down unless it benefits his goals.
- Shin is an all around student, a jack of all trades, if you will.
- If you’re his significant other, all cards are on the table. If he’d taken notes in class (if because he often daydreams in class), those notes will get copied and placed in your hands within the day.
- everything you have trouble with... will be gone over... and Shin would even skip a day or two in the Metaverse in order to help you. (lucky lucky~~~)
- things might get a bit... frisky if you guys are alone for too long though... Shin’s very mischievous and he loves you to bits, often being unable to keep his arms from snaking around your waist and pulling you flush towards his body. He’ll reward you with kisses if you do well on your practice problems...
- and if you do well on your exams... he’s offered to let you do with him what you want... for an entire day... don’t pass up this opportunity to have him under your thumb.
Ryuji Sakamoto
- Ryuji... isn’t the most academically inclined individual in the school... he really tries to understand the school work [he really genuinely tries, the poor babe], but... you would often find yourself explaining to him about the various concepts involved in pre-calculus.... yeah... you’ll be doing a sort of backwards studying if you want to study with Ryuji...
- like studying the material by explaining it to someone else... it actually works, because it requires you to take the information, process it, then try to explain it in a different way... (seriously, this method of studying is one of the best).
- he’s pretty good with things like history and literature, although he’s purely average... and he’s abysmal in math and science. Now that I think about it, he’s like me and Chemistry... We get a little further when we try, but we’re still only average.
- Ryuji, my precious ball of sunshine... he’s easily happy and easily saddened... cheer him on and encourage him to get him in the mood to study more. Once his mood goes downhill, he’s more prone to not studying.
- Ryuji is also a bit... grabby? I mean, it’s easy for him to touch you, hug you, kiss you... but he’s still a bit iffy on people touching him. I mean, he’s a bright ball of sunshine and doesn’t really flinch away, but just be careful with him. Slow touches, not really rough, and always be affectionate. By all means though, don’t baby him.
- Reward him with nape kisses... >///< It gets him so flustered, the red travels noticeably and slowly from his shoulders up. And he’s not used to the love, so expect him to get a little shy and cute.
Ann Takamaki
- The “dumb blonde” stereotype doesn’t apply to Ann. In fact, Ann is around average with her studies! :3 Despite being a model, and a member of the Phantom Thieves, she’s been able to keep up with her studies. [better than myself, who still has trouble balancing schoolwork, writing, a job, and a social life...]
- Ann’s specialty lies with history, English, literature, and gym... not that you really have to study for gym... so maybe health ed?
- Despite the fact that she texts in class with Akira and Ryuji... and the rest of the Phantom Thieves... her notes are actually pretty decent and concise. I mean, not on Makoto’s standard of “concise notes,” but pretty freaking close. Her handwriting is average, large and cutesy, which can make it difficult to read sometimes, but the notes itself covers the basics of what you need to know to do a little better than pass.
- She’s borderline average in the math and science department, so you could help each other with topics that you don’t understand.
- If you want to reward Ann for doing great at practice problems, give her some pastries. If you want to reward her for doing really well on her exams, and you have the money to spend, treat her to the buffet deserts at the fancy hotel...
Morgana
- Morgana doesn’t need to study, silly. But he’s pretty good at helping you if you’re really that desperate... But only for things like language...? Or history???
- You can count on Morgana making comments while you study, left and right.
- That is... if you can understand him in the first place.
Yusuke Kitagawa
- Yusuke... Yusuke, Yusuke, Yusuke... Oh gosh, what am I going to do with this boy... First off, let’s get out of the way that, yes, Yusuke is VERY smart. In fact, he’s calculating and sly, too. BUT! He’s a naive little foxy that doesn’t get most social norms.
- You can expect Yusuke to be near the top of his class, but since he’s passionate about his art, it’s not likely he has the will to try for the absolute top. That being said, Yusuke’s intelligence rivals Makoto, Akira, and Akechi’s, especially in the social sciences, but he’s pretty exceptional in math and science as well.
- An artist’s mind works on a whole other spectrum than the normal person’s. Artists make associations with nearly everything they encounter, and they analyze deeply. Sometimes, the information an artist receives, could be the opposite of what other people conclude. Just know, that if you ask Yusuke for study tips, you might be in for a baffling ride if you don’t think on the same wavelength as him.
- That being said, if you want him to tutor you, be ready for him to teach you the proper way... but with random bursts of pausing... An artist, whether it be painting, sketching, writing, or creating music, often has pauses in their productiveness because of ideas that spontaneously pop up out of nowhere.
- That is, if you’re the one helping Yusuke, let’s say his grades have slipped a little due to his artwork or his work in the Phantom Thieves, expect yourself nearly at the end of your wits most of the time while you tutor him. Yusuke takes his studying seriously, but you just can’t help the fact that he’ll pause to stare at something that’s caught his interest.
- Reward this precious baby with new art supplies, healthy snacks, occasional candies, or even pay for his meals (don’t let him starve on only beansprouts). If you’re particularly close to him, give Yusuke little kisses or gently caress him, to reward him for a job well done.
Makoto Niijima
- Ah the epitome of the perfect student. She’s at the top of her class because of all her hard work, so she’s strong in all subjects. It almost makes you resent her... almost. As with most Asian mentality, doing well in school equals success in life. Eventually, Makoto learns that this isn’t always so, and she begins to tone it down on her ‘overachieving nature’...
- She still manages to be an overachiever without trying though...
- Makoto’s notes are very detailed, with her often taking notes in class, then later reading the textbook material before re-writing her notes with what the teacher taught in class and including the extra details from her own research.
Futaba Sakura
- She’s a genius hacker, shut in with agoraphobia... unless you want her to teach you how to hack... don’t count on her helping you with your studies too much....
- But you could help her with slowly getting over her phobia... difficult task, no doubt, but slowly expose her to more human contact using studying as the medium. Okay? Slowly though.
Haru Okumura
- I admit she’s a bit spoiled and naive, but she’s decently smart, above average definitely, but not as smart as someone like Makoto, Akira, Yusuke, or Akechi.
- She’ll have private tutors on the side, so if you ever need help, you could always tag along in her study sessions, money isn’t a problem with Haru, she’s glad to be able to have a friend to study with.
- Ah, but she’s also the type to get a bit distracted when around people, so you have to be the one to keep her on track and focused!
Goro Akechi
- This idiot... this Light Yagami-like idiotic dorky “pancake” genius detective, doesn’t even get to go to school that often. Despite going to the same prestigious school as Yusuke, his work requires him to neglect his studies.
- Don’t be mistaken, Akechi can easily give Makoto, Akira, and Yusuke a run for their money in the academic field.
- Studying with Akechi will be sporatic, sometimes you can go days studying with him undisturbed, and then there are days where you never see him. It’s not a very stable study relationship, but if you don’t mind the inconsistencies, go ahead and study with him. More often than not, he could use the affection and companionship.
- But also, pancakes.
can’t stay away
Hi friends! Happy Monday! How was the weekend? I hope you had a great one!
We’re back from a quick fall break trip to San Diego and Anaheim. A couple of months ago, I remembered that the girls had days off school, so I booked some plane tickets with Southwest miles for a little getaway. It was a special treat that the Pilot was able to join us for a night. It’s crazy because he can hop on any flight (just has to reserve a spot through an app!) and even though it’s standby basis, if you choose flights wisely, it works out. He had to leave early Thursday morning for his own flights, but we were so happy to spend a night at the beach with him!
Thursday morning, the girls and I grabbed breakfast at Better Buzz and hit the road to Anaheim. It’s such a quick and easy drive from San Diego, and it’s a fun way to split up the trip. We checked into the hotel and hit up the parks for the rest of the day before grabbing dinner at Downtown Disney.
While we were in Tucson getting ready for our trip, Liv started talking about all of the crazy rides she wanted to go on. I knew she would be fine if we had to do more low-key rides with P – we’ve done it before at Disney World when it was just the 3 of us – but I kind of wished I had another adult that could swap out with me if only one kid wanted to do something. On a whim, I texted our San Diego babysitter to see if she’d be down for a Disney trip with us. She immediately texted back and said she was in! It was SO perfect!! She’s like a part of our family – we all cried when we left San Diego because she’d been helping us with the girls for two years – and she visited us for a couple of weeks when we were in Georgia. It was so awesome to hang out with her again and the girls were PUMPED.
(The girls’ Anna, Jasmine, and Elena dresses are all from this site, Placard Originals. She makes the most gorgeous play-quality princess dresses! The only kicker is that you have to be online right when each one launches because they sell out immediately.)
Liv ended up not being in a “crazy ride” kinda mood while we were there, but P, the little daredevil, wanted to ride everything she was tall enough to go on. (And she’s super tall for her age haha.) Ari and I switched off taking the girls on the rides they wanted to ride, rode all of the rides we could do together, and also got fast passes for the rides we wanted to go on! We each got to do Splash Mountain and Indiana Jones by ourselves and Ari did the Guardians of the Galaxy ride. (Note for fast passes: don’t get fast passes for everyone in your party if only one kid wants to ride the ride! You can do a “rider swap” where one adult takes the kid, and the other stays with another child, and then you swap out. You can read about how to hack this here along with my tips for Disney World with two small kids.) In between rides, character greetings, and shows, we ate all the delicious Disney food (dinner at Goofy’s Kitchen has become one of our faves), had the best Micheladas at California Adventure, and shopped a bit.
(Worth noting that we didn’t stay at our usual spot, the Hilton Anaheim, because it was booked way in advance. I used Hotwire’s Hot Rate, which is code for, “Tricked ya, MOFOS!” 10/10 would not recommend. It doesn’t let you see the hotel in advance, and it’s non-refundable. The website claimed it would be similar to a Hilton or Intercontinental and the Anaheim Hotel is….not. It smelled like the entire property had swam in an ocean of Febreeze and all of the rooms were outdoor. It ended up not being a huge deal because when you’re at Disney, you just go to the hotel to sleep, but definitely will not trust the Hot Rate thing again.)
We drove back to San Diego, dropped off Ari, checked into our third hotel of the trip (Courtyard Marriott in Liberty Station and it felt like a Four Seasons after our Anaheim experience lol), and then met Betsy and her fam for pizza at Venetian. We chatted it up over some wine and amazing Mediterranean salads while the kiddos ate pizza, and we followed it up with ice cream at Baskin Robbins. The girls and I headed back to the hotel and called it a night! They ended up sleeping until 8am almost every day of the trip and it.was.glorious. I’m sure school wakeup this morning will be a little rough.
The next morning, the girls and I had breakfast buffet at the hotel, then went to some of our favorite spots. I got in a workout at Point Loma Sports Club aka the best gym ever. This is one of the spots where I taught in SD, and they have a gorgeous facility, brand-new equipment (everything you could want!!) and the kindest people. I haven’t felt a gym that’s given me the same vibe since we’ve been back in Tucson (except maybe the base gym and it’s pretty far from our house) and I think it’s a big reason why I haven’t been lifting very many weights on my own lately. It felt good to walk in and feel so motivated! Here’s what I did:
After my workout, we played at the park in Liberty Station for about an hour, then one more stop at Better Buzz before heading to the airport.
While we were in San Diego, I got quite a few DMs asking me if we were planning on moving back. The Pilot and I talk about it a LOT and each time we go back, it feels like we live there again. For now, it’s so nice being in Tucson, especially since we’re close to family (!!) but in a few years, we might consider heading back that way. If anything, it will continue to be a frequent vacation spot. We just love it too much.
This morning, it’s back to the swing of things over here! I’m jumping right back in: two drafts due today, a conference call, lots of behind-the scenes blog work that went untouched all weekend, and party planning for the Pilot and P.
I hope you have a happy Monday and I’ll see ya soon! Thanks for stopping by the blog today.
San Diego Adventures
Hey hey! How’s the morning going? Hope you’re having a wonderful day so far. This morning, the girls are off to camp, I have a podcast interview, and I’m looking forward to catching a barre class later.
For today’s post, I thought I’d share some San Diego adventures. It’s still one of our favorite places to visit, and we love it even more after living there for 2 1/2 years. We don’t have the “see everything, do everything” pressure that often accompanies visiting a new place. We hang out at our beloved spots and don’t feel rushed or hurried. It was a *real* vacation: lots of downtime on the beach, eating at incredible spots, and watching the pure joy on the girls faces.
We got into San Diego on Wednesday afternoon, and after dropping the dogs off with our favorite dog sitter and groomer (the dogs had a vacation, too!), we headed to our Airbnb. It was our first time using it as a family, and I highly recommend it. (We used it for the Beautycounter LEAD conference and it was such a great experience, I couldn’t wait to try it with the fam.) We dropped off our luggage, and then went to OB Noodle House for dinner. Betsy, Jeremy, and the kids met us there, and we had the best dinner of spring rolls, lettuce wraps, dumplings, and pho. No one makes pho like OB Noodle House. We often order it at other restaurants and it’s always good, but it’s never quite as good.
We took the kids for ice cream at Baskin Robbins and then went back to the Airbnb to call it a night.
Thursday was 4th of July, so after an easy breakfast at the Airbnb, coffee from Better Buzz (decaf best drink ever, half sweet), we headed to Betsy’s mom’s house for an epic 4th of July BBQ and pool party. The kids swam for about 3 hours, only taking breaks to eat a hot dog or s’more and immediately jump back in. We sat on the grass, enjoyed amazing food – the spread was out of control – and chatted with everyone. It was perfect.
We left late afternoon for nap time, and after P was awake and ready for party #2, we went over to Betsy’s to hang out by their pool. We got pizza delivered, roasted s’mores over the fire pit, and the adults drank wine out of solo cups while the kids swam again. The girls were in the pool pretty much all day and couldn’t be happier.
Friday, I took an early Cyclebar class, and then we packed up the crew for a day at Bonita Cove. We put out our pop-up tent and set up beach chairs. I was surprised by how cold it was! It was in the 60s, which was freezing to me, but didn’t stop the kids from splashing in the water. We built sand castles, the kids played on the playground, and they got ice cream from the ice cream man.
Friday night, we had dinner at Crack Shack downtown. I’m not even a fried chicken person, but I LOVE their fried chicken. I’m so glad I didn’t know about Crack Shack while I was pregnant with P because I’d probably have grease marks all over my stretched-out lululemon tanks. It’s that good. I got the Baja chopped salad with smoked chicken, had a piece of fried chicken, and we all shared deviled eggs and super soft biscuits with sweet and salty butter.
(Got a couple of questions about this dress! Stitch Fix sent it to me when they sent the kids’ boxes and the brand is Free People. It’s on sale right now in coral here.)
After dinner, we headed to Belmont Park so the girls could ride all of their favorite rides. We got them wristbands and they both went on every ride they were tall enough to do. My face hurt from laughing so hard at the Vertical Plunge ride. Liv was an absolute statue and P would shriek and giggle at every single drop. I’m kind of terrified for the future when they’re dragging me on scary roller roasters.
Sunday morning we had brunch at our favorite spot (Great Maple! Get a spot on OpenTable if you go!) and spending the afternoon hanging out with Betsy and the crew. I was so glad we got to spend so much time with them on this trip. We decided a month is about how long we can go without all getting together.
(We were in Alaska with them not too long ago!)
Of course, it’s not a trip to San Diego without a stop at Tiki Port.
(This is the Drifter bowl + peanut butter)
We had the best time on the trip, and also managed to save a bit of $. We’re trying to be more strategic with our finances this year, so here are some things that helped:
– Staying in an Airbnb (<— my referral link gives you $40 off!). In the end, it was about $100 less per night than we would have spent at a hotel, and it was so much more convenient with the kids. We had a full kitchen, laundry room, dining room, a sofa bed, and while P napped on the master bed, we could all hang out in the living room together. The link to the one we used is here! It had a great central location and was perfect. I highly recommend it.
– We didn’t go out to eat for every single meal. Before we hit the road to San Diego, I packed a small cooler with items we had on hand (and a giant thing of blueberries that would have gone bad while we were gone), and a grocery bag with lots of snacks. We had breakfast at the Airbnb most days (I brought berries, apples, bananas, cereal, oatmeal, and when we arrived, we grabbed some almond milk and eggs, which we hard-boiled). On the 4th of July, we had lunch at the party, and the following day at the beach, I packed the cooler up with snacks. (A loaf of Dave’s Killer bread with peanut butter and jelly to make sandwiches for all the kids, trail mix, Clif bars, dried mango, fruit pouches, and LaCroix.)
We had about 1 *good* meal out each day, and it was perfect. There was also something magical about not having to hurry up and get the girls dressed to head to a restaurant first thing in the morning. We had relaxing breakfast at the Airbnb and got ready for the day.
– Enjoying experiences that didn’t cost a thing. The beach day was completely free (minus a trip to the ice cream truck) and we were all living our best summer lives.
Do you have any hacks for saving money on vacation? We like to travel (a lot), so I’m looking forward to reading your tips!
Have a wonderful day and I’ll see ya soon.
xoxo
a different kinda Easter
Hi friends! How are you? I hope you’re having an ok morning and hanging in there. <3 I also hope that those who were celebrating Passover and Easter this weekend enjoyed the holiday.
It was definitely a bit on the weird side this year, but I feel like we made the most of it. We had lots of Facetiming with family (plus a couple of driveway “hellos” which were an awesome surprise), an egg hunt with the kiddos, and a sugar overload, so it definitely checked the boxes for a great Easter.
The girls had slept in the tent in the living room and waited until 8:15 to wake us up!
This is because they had found their baskets, happily opened their new toys, and feasted on some of the candy. I got a picture the previous evening, which was good because we woke up to pure Easter basket destruction.
I put the egg casserole and bacon into the oven and we headed outside to hunt for Easter eggs. The girls were pretty pumped with their haul,
and we went inside to open all of the eggs while I popped the cinnamon rolls in the oven and we had egg casserole.
After we had the savory side of breakfast, the cinnamon rolls were ready, so we enjoyed some on the couch while we watched Andrea Bocelli’s live concert from Italy. My Tata loved Andrea Bocelli, so it was a special way to feel close to him this holiday. <3
The rest of the morning was spent in our pajamas, Facetiming the family, and popping outside to get some Bundt cake and Easter gifts from madre and nana. (It was so nice to see some of the fam even though it was just for a little while from a distance. Missing family has easily been the toughest thing about this whole ordeal.)
We finally got dressed and took the girls to the park for a long bike ride. Livi recently got a new bike, so the girls are obsessed with riding their bikes around. They ask to go for walks multiple times a day and I joke that pretty soon I’m going to have to ride P’s scooter because my legs are like WTF are you doing walking this much?
We came home, had a Zoom call with my dad’s side of the fam, and I caught a quick BODYPUMP workout in the garage. After that, it was time to drop off August’s birthday gift at Kyle and Meg’s because he turned 1 yesterday!!
Throwback pic to when I first got to hold this little guy:
They had their garage partitioned off with baby gates, so family members could drop off gifts towards the bottom of the driveway and sing, “Happy Birthday” and wave. The was one of the best and saddest parts of the day. Everly really wanted to get out of the garage and play with the girls, which broke my heart into a thousand pieces. I just wanted to swoop her out of the garage. I just can’t wait for the day when we can all be together again.
Since we’d been snacking on candy/treats pretty much all day, dinner was just a quick throw-together meal. I boiled brown rice noodles and sautéed some chicken sausage in a separate pan. When the noodles were done, I drained them and rinsed in cold water, then added them back to the pot with the chicken sausage, some sun-dried tomatoes, diced artichoke hearts, butter, and shredded vegan parmesan. I topped everything with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. It took 15 minutes to make and was SO good!
The rest of the evening was spent watching Unorthodox on Netflix – just started it and intrigued so far – and planning some workouts for IG this week.
Some more adventures from the weekend:
– We ordered sushi from Ra and was LIIIIIIFE. When we told the girls what we’d ordered, P said, “I hate juicy.” (Juicy = sushi) Once we had everything on the table and P was shoveling California roll into her mouth, she was like, “I love juicy. Juicy is my favorite.” LOL
– The Pilot had to go to Basha’s for butter – the butter ration has been surprisingly difficult over here – and also brought this ridiculous and insanely delicious bunny cake
– Caroline was the first member of our house to have a ‘Rona haircut. She was SO shaggy and getting hot/uncomfortable on walks, so the Pilot decided to put our pet clippers to good use. (I bought some when we were in Valdosta after a groomer hurt Bella. She got one hack job of a haircut from us until we were able to find a wonderful groomer in town.) It took three hours but she looks so amazing! I told him if that flying airplanes thing doesn’t work out, he has a solid plan B.
Caro is feelin’ herself.
I hope you have a great day and I’ll see ya in the morning with a workout post.
Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today!
