Any hcs for wedding attire in Essos? Especially the Dothraki because I am dying for them to actually have culture GEORGE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think a wedding in Dothraki culture is first and foremost a show of power. The man is actually expected to gift the materials to his bride for her wedding outfit, as an example of how well he will provide for her once they're married. The taller/bigger her wedding headdress is, the more established her husband is. All the materials, along with the gifts of slaves and horses, are to be taken as spoils during raids, meaning that to be a wife with a particularly exotic wedding costume is very favored. The husband himself is also expected to be decorated in his spoils, proving his prowess and ability to take what is his just by what he wears.

In Volantis, though there are a very wide range of religious wedding traditions, in most cases the (secular) cultural precedent is that the couple is expected to wear the colors and symbols of the others family, as a sign of respect for the marriage pact. The bride is supposed to make her wedding outfit as detailed and elaborate as possible, because a girl with a fancy gown is indeed a rich girl with a lot of time on her hands and many slaves to help her. The man is expected to wear a head wrap gifted to him by the bride, as a sign of good will.

Myrish weddings are an incredibly excessive affair. The couple being celebrated is given all manner of gifts, like jewelry and lace and bolts of cloth, by their families, which the women of the family then incorporate into the wedding costumes. Bridal gowns are multicolored with lots of motifs (usually floral), while the groom wears matching motifs on his own attire. And of course the lace has to be mentioned. Its everywhere. On the collars, the sleeves, the hems, and of course on the brides head. Traditionally, a woman's mother will make it for her to wear on her wedding, but rich girls usually pay the best lace makers in the city to make theirs.

(pls excuse the fact im using multiple Chinese historical fashion eras, I can't decide which I like the best for my YiTi headcanons) In YiTi, both men and women wear the high necked jacket that covers the skirt for weddings and other traditional ceremonies, as opposed to the shorter jacket/robes that usually go under the skirt for more casual times (its the aoqun and ruqun difference in Hanfu). Women are to wear the colors and symbols of her husbands family, as a sign of being joining them, but the man is expected to provide the bride with a sizable dowry and proper materials for her gown, as thanks towards the bride and her family. Wedding attire is very personalized, stitched and printed with insignias of the brides family, her favorite things, any symbols considered lucky, etc etc. Both members are also to wear their hair in a specific way, with a specific headpiece, to denote their social class during the ceremony.

Your eyes are closed and your shaky breath echoes in the chambers. The rooms that you will share with your husband from now on.
The ceremony seems only distant in your memory and now so surreal as you lie here on this bed. How all eyes were on you when your eyes only looked into your uncle's. How you couldn't suppress a grin when you recognised the slightest smile around his lips. How he gently cupped your cheek with his rough hand before enveloping your lips with his…
"Hey... open your eyes," you hear Daemon say - almost softly.
You obey him and your eyes slowly open. The scenery shoots in on you as you lie on the bed in just your nightgown, your husband standing in front of the bed, looking at you, slowly opening his shirt.
"That's better," he says gently and smiles at you.
You don't know why you're so nervous. He's seen you naked countless times, driven you to ecstasy with his touch. But this time it's different, it's your wedding night.
He slowly approaches you as he slowly opens his trousers. Your fingers fiddle with the hem of your nightgown as you try to breathe more calmly. Without looking at him, you hear his trousers slide down.
Daemon's eyes linger on you. He takes in every nervous twitch and quickened breath and he moves closer.
"There's no need to be nervous. I've seen every inch of you, explored every curve, and tasted your sweet surrender. Tonight, we seal our union, and I will show you just how much you belong to me," he purrs, his voice low and seductive, "It will be special," his soft voice sounds and you hear the words you whispered to him countless nights ago.
His words send a shiver down your spine, and you feel a mix of anticipation and excitement bubbling within you. You know that Daemon is a man of passion and intensity, and tonight, he intends to leave his mark on you in more ways than one.
Daemon's eyes flicker with a mixture of amusement and possessiveness as he watches you fidget and nervously avoid his gaze.
He reaches out, his hand gently caressing your cheek before trailing down your neck, leaving a trail of fire in its wake. His touch is both tender and possessive, a contrast that only adds to the intensity of the moment. His fingers curl around the hem of your nightgown, slowly lifting it up, revealing your body to him in all its vulnerability.
You feel the mattress give way as Daemon kneels on the bed. You look up and your purple Targaryen eyes meet. A gasp leaves your lips as his hand brushes across your thigh, gently grasping the underside of it and spreading your thighs slightly - his rough hand, a stark contrast to your soft skin. His other hand slides to your face, his index finger and thumb cupping your chin, lifting your head slightly.
"Look at me... focus on me..." he whispers and you nod slightly as you look into his eyes. Carefully, he pushes your legs apart as he kneels between them. His lips glide over your cheek, over your neck, while his hand slides further up your thigh.
Your eyes flutter shut as you concentrate fully on his touch. His warm breath glides over your skin as his lips caress you. The sweetest moan escapes your lips as his fingers grip your inner thigh.
"That's my girl... concentrate on my touch..." he whispers against your skin. You nod slightly again and gasp as his fingers cup your folds - you'll never get tired of this feeling. Slowly, his fingers move, smearing the wetness along your folds. His fingers find your sensitive bud, light circular movements follow and as if of their own accord your hips move to follow their movement.
Daemon follows your movements, sliding his fingers to your soaked opening, applying light pressure. His fingertips are literally sucked in and a mewling sound comes from your lips. You exhale heavily, his fingers thrust deeper, your eyes still closed.
Daemon's lips curl into a smug smile as he watches your reactions, relishing in the way you respond to his touch. He takes pleasure in knowing that he can easily bring you to the edge with just his fingers alone.
His fingers continue their exploration, sliding in and out of your wetness, gradually increasing the depth and pace of his thrusts. He watches as your hips buck against his hand, seeking more of the pleasure he's giving you.
"You're so wet... I don't even really need to work to get inside you," Daemon murmurs and you blush slightly, but your moans don't let up.
"Open your eyes" he whispers, "I want you to watch as I prepare you for me. See how wet and ready you are for my cock."
As you obey again, your eyes meeting his, Daemon's fingers quicken their pace, delving deeper into your core. He revels in the way your breath hitches, your body trembling with anticipation.
"Such a good girl," he murmurs, his voice dripping with satisfaction. "You're ready for me, aren't you? You want my cock inside you, filling you completely."
You blush even more - you know that Daemon loves to fill your mind with filthy words. Even if they have the desired effect on you, you can't help but blush.
But suddenly you feel him pull his fingers out of you and a soft whimper leaves you. You feel your nerves again as you look down and see him pulling down his undergarments. You've seen his manhood many times before, on the nights he's visited you - but this is different.
His length is released and you gasp slightly - it's never seemed so big to you, so thick. His hand slides along his throbbing length and you hear him grunt slightly.
"Daemon... this... this won't fit..." you suddenly whisper nervously and your hand slides to his arm.
Daemon smiles, still pumping his hardness.
"Hey... look at me," he whispers again and you look up. But then he kisses you, wrapping his lips around yours, swallowing your doubts.
The kiss is filled with a hunger that ignites a fire deep within you. His hand roams your body, claiming every inch, as if marking you as his territory. The intensity of his touch, the way he dominates your senses, leaves you breathless and wanting more.
"It will fit... we will make it fit... It will hurt at first, but the reward will be all the better," he whispers against your lips. You can't help but nod as he slides the tip of his hardness through your folds.
Your eyes flutter shut and you inhale sharply. Your fingers dig into his skin as his length presses against your pearl. Again your hips move towards him, seeking more of that touch.
Daemon looks down, between your bodies, watching closely as your wetness and his precum mingle. His growl echoes through the chambers. You concentrate fully on the sensation as he guides its length to your entrance.
Slowly he pushes forward and you feel the pressure as his manhood tries to penetrate you. A slight whimper leaves you as your heat envelops his tip. He growls slightly, senses your tightness and starts to move slowly.
"You're doing great..." he whispers in your ear, gently kissing your cheek as he pushes further. You feel the pressure, biting your lip as he impales you on his hot length. The feeling of him stretching you, filling you, is overwhelming. Your walls clench around him, trying to accommodate to his size. Daemon's pace is slow and deliberate, relishing in the tightness and warmth of your core.
But Daemon still feels a lot of resistance, he's nowhere near all the way in yet.
"Love... it's going to hurt for a moment now... but it has to be," he whispers and your eyes open again, looking at him. You whimper, but you nod slightly. He leans his forehead against yours, lets his nose slide gently along yours before kissing you softly again. His rhythmic movements don't let up as his tongue searches for yours and you moan slightly.
When suddenly he thrusts and you cry out as the sharp pain runs through your abdomen. He swallows your cry, his hand on your hip as his thick length works you open. "Uncle Daemon..." you whimper into his mouth as he slides in and out.
"I know..." he whispers, but he keeps moving. The pain slowly subsides. Your cunt, clenching around his cock in protest, slowly gives way. He feels the fluttering of your walls and closes his eyes briefly.
"Gods you feel so good," he growls. Slight mewling sounds leave your lips as your hips begin to move with him. He smiles at you, "That's my girl," he whispers a little breathlessly as his hips move faster. He can feel you soaking his cock, your pleasure increasing, and it spurs him on.
His thrusts get harder as he tries to bury himself completely inside you. He revels in the feeling of your tightness around him, the way you yield to his every thrust. Moans escape you now as your hands grip his upper arms. His hand still on your hip, holding you in place.
He watches your face, observing every flicker of pleasure that crosses your features. His grip tightens on your hips, his fingers digging into your skin, marking you as his.
"You're so tight, so wet," his voice filled with a mix of satisfaction and hunger. "You were made for me... Made to be filled by me," he grunts as he feels the tight grip of your cunt.
You are completely overwhelmed by the sensation as your cunt is fully stretched. You feel his balls slapping against you with every thrust and you whimper. His grunts echo through your chambers as he feels the continuous spasming of your wet walls. His eyes drift down again, seeing his glistening length disappear into your perfect womanhood again and again - the moment he's been waiting for so long, finally fulfilled.
He looks at your face again, sensing your impending climax - your eyes closed, your lips slightly parted as you try to follow his movements. Your noises a mixture of moans and whimpers. His hand slides to your abdomen, pressing lightly against it. He wants to feel his hot length sliding into you, bringing you to climax.
His thumb begins to tease your bud as he thrusts harder and faster into you. You cry out slightly, but you can feel the pressure in your abdomen. Your fingernails dig deeper into his skin as he pumps in and out, his thumb rubbing faster.
"Come for me... Soak my cock, suck up my seed..." he growls in your ear and you moan again. You open your eyes and look into his - blown wide with lust.
As your climax approaches, Daemon's pace quickens, his thrusts growing more powerful. He can feel the walls of your core tightening around him, signaling your imminent release.
With one final powerful thrust, he plunges deep within you, his cock pulsating as he finds his own release. The sensation of him emptying himself inside you pushes you over the edge, your orgasm crashing over you like a tidal wave.
You moan out, your walls milk his cock and he grunts loudly. He watches your face contort with pleasure as moan after moan leaves your lips while your warm walls spasm around him. He's never seen anything so perfect - you're finally his.
He leans down, kisses you, swallows your moans of pleasure.  His hips move more slowly as you come sliding back to reality from the veil of lust.
When his movements slow down completely, he releases the kiss. You can still feel him inside you, his nose slides gently along yours, you see him smile slightly.
"Are you all right?" he whispers a little breathlessly. You just nod and a breathless "Okay," leaves his lips. You whimper slightly in protest as he slowly pulls out of you. His length glistening with a mixture of your fluids. He watches you, his eyes filled with a mix of desire and satisfaction, before leaning down to capture your lips in a searing kiss.
In this moment, there is no one else but the two of you, lost in the aftermath of your shared passion. Your bodies are entwined, your souls connected in a way that words cannot describe.
Your heavy breathing echoes in your chambers as he slowly releases the kiss, his gaze travelling down your body as he leans back.
His gaze is fixed on your womanhood and you feel something unfamiliar dripping out of you. Your hand instinctively wants to slide between your legs, but you only notice a slight shake of his head before he stops your hand. His other hand slides to your folds and slowly he pushes his fingers inside you, but you are overstimulated, your hips jerk back slightly.
"Don't," he whispers, "My seed must stay inside you.... I want a perfect heir to grow inside you"
You blush slightly, but his fingers slowly slide inside you, pushing the seed deeper inside you. Your eyes flutter shut slightly as you surrender to this feeling.
Daemon's eyes darken with possessiveness as he watches your reactions, his fingers still buried deep inside you. He can feel the wetness and warmth around his digits, evidence of the pleasure he has brought you. The thought of his seed filling you, the possibility of creating an heir, sends a surge of pride through him.
His thumb brushes against your sensitive pearl, eliciting a shudder from your body. He can sense your sensitivity, the overstimulation that threatens to overwhelm you. But he doesn't stop, his fingers continuing their relentless assault on your pleasure.
"You're mine… My dragoness" he murmurs, his voice low and almost commanding. "And I will fill you with my seed until you bear me a child. You will be the mother of my heir“
Daemon watches you, his fingers still buried deep inside you. His fingers move faster, his thumb pressing harder against your clit. He can feel the tension building within you, your body on the precipice of another climax. He wants to take you there, to see you come undone in his arms once more.
As the waves of pleasure begin to build once again, you can feel his fingers curling inside you, hitting that sweet spot that sends sparks of ecstasy coursing through your body. It's almost too much to bear, the pleasure threatening to consume you.
And as your moans fill the air, your body convulsing around his fingers, he knows he has succeeded. He watches with satisfaction as your pleasure washes over you, your walls clenching around his fingers. In his mind, your precious womb sucks up his seed with every contraction.
Finally he slowly pulls his fingers out of you – a mixture of his seed and your arousal covers his fingers. He smiles and collapses next to you on the bed, his breathing still heavy and laboured.
He looks at you, his eyes glowing with satisfaction. You smile almost shyly before his arm wraps around your middle and pulls you closer. He buries his face in your hair, inhaling your scent. His fingers glide gently over your abdomen as he whispers sweet nothings in your ear - your heavy breathing and light giggles fill the air.

You're failing to understand that my post wasn't aimed at poc reclaiming certain fictional characters (I'll get onto why I still usually disagree with general racebending when it comes to nation anthropomorphism fandoms) but I was moreso talking about how it's an unfortunate reality in this fandom that racebent white characters are given more attention than actual non white characters - regardless of if they were made by poc in some sort of reclamation effort or not. You're failing to analyse why racebent white character's proximity to whiteness results in innate privilege over canonically/actual non white countries. I touched upon this in my original post when I wrote about how poc must be "sanitised"/ stripped from our histories, practices and languages in order for us to be palatable for a larger white audience. Hence why Arab Romano seems to be more popular with the fandom than actual Arabic countries.
I'm going to explain why I generally have an issue with racebending in hetalia/nation anthropomorphism fandoms now - even as a poc/mixed person myself.
We are talking about nation anthropomorphism - this isn't just any other random anime with random guys you can customise as you please. We are talking about real history, cultures, practices, languages, politics and experiences. This isn't the place to start pulling Latino Russias and Chinas out of our asses. It is completely losing track of the "personify nations" theme. There is a difference between having disagreements on, say, China's favourite dynasty and then straight up making China a completely different race. You are changing the very fabric of that nation.
Before anyone brings up the US - I'm not commenting on that as the US is a special case and I understand if first nation peoples want to reclaim him. That's their - call not mine (same applies to Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc). I am not speaking specifically about first nation peoples in and the topic of reclamation for first nation people was never a part of my original post. I do not disagree with it, it is not my place to disagree with it.
But please forgive me for personally not wanting the country who colonised my nation, installed a racial hierarchy there, and inspired Nazi Germany, to be represented by a poc.
I know I sound callous here, but racebent white characters ARE my competition. You are forcing white/western characters into non white spaces with a simple flick of a racebend and expecting us to welcome them with open arms. Be honest with me. How many notes does mixed/brown Alfred get over native American ocs?
England has floods of fans - and you know what, good for him. But racebending England - an already wildly popular European country with a personality and character that's been established for years and is continuing to develop in canon and fanon into being Black or East Asian etc, is NOT comparable to someone who put the blood, sweat and tears into researching wildly unpopular non white characters/countries with barely any character or interest/attention in both canon and fanon.
Again. How much attention does Arab Romano get over Egypt? And then explain how racebent white characters aren't my competition. Regardless of if a poc made it. Why is the fandom more interested in race bent non white characters rather than canon non white characters? This is what I was getting at in my original post.
Also I'm primarily responding to @gaymano-vargas in this reply but I am not talking about cosplayers, I did not touch upon cosplayers at all throughout my entire post and I specifically did not talk about cosplayers for a reason. I thought this would be obvious but cosplayers who are not white who cosplay white characters are NOT racebending and I never once said that I believe so - that is literally just their skin tone and they have no control over that, no sane person is expecting them to lighten their skin for a cosplay (saying this as I understand poc cosplayers get a lot of flack, especially when they cosplay white characters.)
I agree, you'd have to be a real racist if you think that characters should be gatekept in cosplay based on skin tone or ethnicity alone. That was never asserted nor is it relevant to the initial discussion.
Of course, I acknowledge that poc facing backlash for expressing their identity is a reality. However, it seems widely understood that this is a common occurrence within fandom spaces. Shifting the conversation to this topic honestly feels like a derailment - especially considering you're bringing up points I never even made in my original post and THEN using that point to accuse me of racism  (bringing up cosplayers).
Also this is coming off as "why are you criticising x problem when you should be criticising bigger y problem" again this feels like a derailment because one is able to focus on multiple issues at once and I have also made numerous posts thought my time being active in the fandom about the racism and peoples aversion to poc representation. I've gotten blocked by one of the biggest hetalia accounts on this platform (actually, MULTIPLE big hetalia accounts) for questioning why they were excluding poc or being downright racist. I have faced egregious racism from white hetalia fans and doxxing threats for being vocal about their racism. I have taken issue with the fandom at large. Again and again and again. This isn't just senseless, butthurt complaining and I don't appreciate the racism accusation. I don't take either of your comments in good faith.
I believe that this rebuttal is centring the white gaze. Rather than having an internal discussion about the ethical aspects of racebending and national personifications, it seems the conversation is regressing to the point of "Why are you accusing poc of racebending their white faves when cosplaying and pointing the finger at poc for representing themselves through white canon characters why won't you let them have fun and focus on bigger issues." I was clearly talking about the ethics of racebending in a nation anthropomorphism fandom and the problems with racebent non white characters garnering more attention that actual non white characters and the implications behind that rather than pointing an angry finger at poc because I want to keep the white characters white simply for the sake of it and/or I don't want poc to have fun.
Also @michichi69 I know you left this in the tags but. Seriously you're levelling a whole load of accusations at me publicly.
I am not talking about first nation peoples and their decisions to reclaim. I never touched upon that. I need to reiterate again - my original post was not pointing an angry finger at poc for representing themselves through white canon characters, I wanted to bring attention as to why racebent characters garner more attention that canonical non white characters.
When have I ever said that all poc characters need a preface before any content of them about white supremacy?? Where are you even getting this from?? I don't even do that with my own content??
I think it's so funny how people in this fandom would rather racebend white nations into being non white instead of going ahead and giving rep to the PLETHORA of actual non white countries like y'all see how fucking stupid and racist you look right ?
You're more comfortable with white nations (who are often imperial) being portrayed as non white rather than real non white countries and will reblog like. Racebent Romano art but someone posts something of India or Iran and suddenly there's crickets lol you guys racialise the fuck out of non white country art in this fandom but will reblog racebent white nation art and we all know why.
It's because you cannot stomach authentic non white cultures so you have to completely divorce us from our histories, practices and languages in order for us to be palatable and blorbo enough for you. We have to be sanitised from everything that makes us "weird" and "different" before you guys will even give us a chance and then you end up with a supposed anthropomorphised nation oc who represents nothing but your inability to pay more than 5 minutes of attention on a country that is not white and call it a day.

Scripted - Yahya x Black OC
Sweet Thang- Chapter 3
Tumblr media
One-shot: By the Open Fire
Chapters: 1 2
Warnings: Language
Word Count: 2,003
Two months later
Candace finished her last night at Dynasty and vowed to never return. She had collected enough money to support the remaining tuition payments, graduation fees and the application fee for Yale’s School of Drama. March had snuck upon her and her application was due in a month for the 2012-2013 school term. The process was daunting because this was the only M.F.A program she planned to apply to and she prayed this wasn’t a mistake. Yale was her dream school and though she was the type to have a plan B, C and Z, she was gambling on her resume and audition tapes.
Yahya had already made one visit to Los Angeles, since he met Candace at Dynasty. He was collecting unemployment and attending acting classes to get more experience to add to his resume. They had talked about his plan moving forward and Yahya was enjoying acting so much, he planned to apply to Yale as well. Candace had convinced him to live a little and follow his heart and talent. Even if his application was denied, he would have the experience and could apply to another program. During their acting class, Candace was surprised by Yahya’s natural talent in theatre. He deeply connected with the scripts and scenarios and she was in awe of how he could change his entire persona to fit the character. Candace wouldn’t admit it, but her attraction to Yahya was growing. Not only was he physically attractive, but his sensitivity and thoughtfulness made him appealing. He was also attracted to Candace and took his time getting to know her, while also respecting her space after her breakup.
Another acting coach was in town and Yahya made the trip to LA to attend a session with Candace. It had been two weeks since his last visit and he was eager to get into another class and spend time with his friend. They decided to meet at Candace’s apartment and ride to their class together.
“Do you think this man will make us cry on cue or what,” Candace joked, flipping on her turn signal to take the exit off the expressway.
“It’s called the Degree of Emotion, I’m sure we’re crying in this class,” Yahya chuckled, scrolling through his email for job postings. Right now, he was living off of unemployment and his savings, he would need a job sooner rather than later.
“I can’t cry on cue. It takes a bit of coaching to get me there. Hopefully this class can give me some pointers,” Candace revealed.
Dr. Ben Mayer, renowned acting coach to many in the industry and professor at Julliard, was standing in the middle of the stage when the students arrived. As they walked into the class, he recited an excerpt from the Odyssey. His heavy voice carried throughout the theatre, capturing everyone’s attention before they reached their seats. Yahya grabbed Candace’s hand, helping her down the dark theatre stairs and to the front row.
“Welcome to the Degree of Emotion. I’m Dr. Ben Mayer, your instructor for today. Please use the first two rows. Don’t be shy, I don’t bite,” the instructor ordered, pointing to the empty seats in front of the stage. “Today, I’ll be working with you on how to convey emotion with your voice, body language and expressions. Many that come into this field think showing emotion is only about crying or showing sadness onscreen or onstage. Emotion is more than that though. Anyone can be trained to cry on cue but what about that makes you feel like the character you’re portraying. Are you stepping into your character’s shoes or simply putting on a hat? Stepping into the shoes is more powerful and more fulfilling than putting on a hat. You walk in shoes and feel them out. So, I’m going to teach you how to do that.”
For the second half of the class, the group split up into groups of two and practiced different scripts. Dr. Mayer watched each group and offered criticism and advice. Candace was in Yahya’s group and they were supposed to be performing a piece about a couple who hit a rough patch. She felt good about this particular script because of her recent breakup but to her surprise, her performance fell flat for Dr. Mayer. He told her she was wearing a hat instead of stepping into Charlotte’s shoes and she had a lot to work on when it came to emotional acting.
That criticism stuck with Candace and ate at her for the remainder of the class. The second half of the course was in three weeks, where they would perform their scenes in front of their peers.
“Don’t be so hard on yourself,” Yahya proposed as they walked to a near-by coffee shop.
“I can handle criticism. It’s being told I don’t convey emotion that bugs me. No instructor has ever said that and here I am trying to get into Yale not conveying enough fuckin’ emotion,” Candace spat between her teeth. Being a perfectionist ended up being her downfall in many things. She believed in being perfect at her crafts, which is how she ended up in extra acting classes outside of her regular theatre courses. “Are my emotions not believable, Yah?”
“That’s coming from one instructor. We all have different ways of approaching this acting thing. But if you want to work on it, I’m here for a couple of more days. We can practice. No biggie.”
“I don’t know why I’m this bothered about this shit. But I’m going to give his ass emotion next time,” she promised, tossing her curls behind her ear.
-------
Trinity was out studying with some friends, leaving the apartment free for acting practice and a late brunch. Yahya was on fruit duty, while Candace made waffles and turkey bacon.
“What do you think is holding you back,” Yahya questioned, glancing over at his acting partner who was concentrating on whisking the lumps out of her pancake mix.
“Fear of failure. I think too much when it comes to certain scenes and end up closing myself off,” she replied after a few long seconds of silence. “That’s my only explanation. After all that stuff with Maxwell, it got worse, I guess.”
“I did this class in San Fran and the instructor had us doing meditation before we got to the acting. Maybe you can try that when you have those hard scenes. It helped me because I get too into my own head at times, too,” he offered, wiping his hands on a towel. “For now.... I need you to relax.”
Once Candace felt Yahya’s strong hands on her shoulders, she could have melted into a puddle in the middle of the kitchen floor. He massaged the tense muscles and rested his chin on top of her head. She hummed in relief, leaning back into his big body.
“Instead of thinking about how you can hide Dr. Mayer’s body, think about how you can prove him wrong. Put all that anger into Charlotte because she needs you in order to come alive.”
“Okay,” Candace sighed.
“Let’s try meditation first,” he suggested, leading Candace to the living room. “Try to get you nice and relaxed before we start.”
They meditated for ten minutes before returning to the kitchen to clear up counter space.
“Ready?” Yahya nodded towards his scene partner and earned a nervous nod in response.
Charlotte and Tyreik - TAKE ONE
“You’ve changed, Ty. Changed in ways you may not realize but I see it. Hell, I feel it too. When we supposedly make love and you aren’t present...you fill me up but you feel empty,” Candace spoke, shifting her weight from hip to hip. Playing Charlotte made her nervous for some reason. Maybe it was her own fear of opening up to another man after having her heart stomped to pieces by Maxwell. Like Charlotte, she no longer wanted to be a doormat to anyone, especially the opposite sex.
“You sure you even know how to feel anymore,” Yahya replied, pretending to cut invisible vegetables on the cutting board.
“Excuse me?”
“You can’t stand here and tell me you feel a thing, Char. I’ve been trying to talk to you about our relationship for months. But you’re always busy or too tired. So yeah....I’ve changed.”
The conversation was similar to one she had with Maxwell, except the roles were reversed. Like Yahya suggested, she dug deeper to find that spark that would turn on the switch.
“Because you talk at me. Yelling isn’t talking and it won’t get my attention,” she shot back, narrowing her eyes. “And the only reason you’re even talking is because you feel guilty.”
Yahya slammed his hands against the the cold, marble countertop, causing Candace to flinch. “Are we still stuck on that shit? I apologized, you accepted, it’s done. Stop bringing up old shit to hide your own insecurities.”
“We.... then why are we pretending this is what we both want? If we’re this unhappy, why are we doing this,” she mumbled, her eyes falling down to her feet.
“I don’t know. Maybe because we’re both afraid to let go of what’s familiar to us. I’m your first love and you’re my first long time relationship. Hard to let go of something you worked hard to keep going all these years.”
Dig deep, Candace. Thinking back to how she felt about Maxwell and his unborn child, Candace’s eyes began to water. “I want this to work, Ty. I really do,” she sniffed. Yahya’s eyes met hers and he tried to stay in character but he couldn’t hide how proud he was the moment he saw his advice working for Candace.
“I do too. But you have to let go of shit if you claim you forgive me,” Yahya moved in closer, letting Candace know they were close to the kissing scene.
“I’ll try,” she offered, her big, brown orbs searching his looking for a hint of Yahya. He rarely broke character, but there was an extra gleam in his eyes. This was the first time they had done anything outside of hugging. Yahya was respecting Candace’s space and allowing her to heal after her recent breakup.
Her heart beat violently against her chest when Yahya’s cologne flooded her senses. His lips became Candace’s main focus as he closed the space between them and placed his mouth on hers. The kiss was brazen, making Candace’s knees weak. Yahya placed his hands on the counter, caging in Candace’s small frame. His 6′3 frame towered over her, forcing him to duck his head down to deepen the kiss when her tongue slid past his. Since that night at the club, he had been waiting to kiss Candace’s lips. Just as he thought, they were as soft as pillows and the urge to take things to the next level invaded his thoughts.
Heat rose to Candace’s cheeks before spreading down to her belly, meeting the butterflies that were already dancing. Their scripts were long forgotten and they were well past the point of blaming their actions on their characters. Candace’s fingers toyed with the hem of Yahya’s shirt. They were both breathless when they pulled a part and Candace didn’t give Yahya time to catch his thoughts before her lips were back on his, fighting for dominance. Yahya’s shirt ended up on the kitchen floor, exposing his sculpted but slender mid-section. It was dangerous, yet neither one of them stopped it. The sexual tension had been strong from the moment they met and given the current circumstances, it was boiling over. From the slight touches and long gazes, hormones were bound to get them in this predicament. Yahya’s lips left hers and traveled to her neck, where they stayed, creating love bites.
“Do you want me to stop,” he questioned, his baritone causing a vibration between their bodies. The thumping between her ears and thumping between her legs had Candace’s mind swimming in circles.
Sorry for the wait and short chapter. We will get A LOT more Yahya and Candace in the next one though!

♒️ for whichever asian u have the most opinions about when it comes to this!
I’m just going to do China because... uncultured me has not yet experienced many other countries’ authentic cuisines 😅 (also please forgive the lateness; school has been taxing a little)
Symbol asks!
♒ - cooking/food headcanon: obv China loves his food; I think he’d be pretty familiar with all the regional variations in Chinese cuisine, whether it’s sweet/spicy/salty/rice based/wheat based/whatever. I headcanon him getting born/found near the Yellow River, which was also where the Xia Dynasty started; so he’d be more accustomed to Northern stuff (mostly salty, wheat based food without many vegetables), but he’s also had a lot of huai yang cuisine which is a little lighter and vegetable filled.
He doesn’t really eat much meat; in the old days (and in wartime but that’s a different story) when meat was eXpENsIve so winter meant cooking bok choy and white radishes in every imaginable way, he just got used to eating a lot of vegetables (and anyways they’re not cooked as blandly as Western cuisine so it’s fine). I think Yao’s definitely the stereotypical “eats a lot but doesn’t gain weight” sort but. He has been gaining weight recently because the average population weight is increasing. He just doesn’t show it.
Also, on noodles, he puts lu (a rich and savory sort of gravy sauce, mixed with vegetables, fungi/mushrooms, and meat as toppings ig). Sweet seasonings not allowed; because he’s a northerner at heart and we eat salty things up there. (that is the hill I may die on; sweet things are for snacks and not main dishes pls.)
