Oh my god, that video 😬 just… so corny and unfunny. My thing is, why wouldn’t they just make it a namjikook throuple thing - aren’t ARMYs all about poly-BTS? That’s why the ARMYs who make it about only n*mkook are so transparent to me… 👀

Anyways, imo one of the reasons for this is because there’s actually a lot of HL x JM/JK shippers in this fandom who feel a similar way about Jikook as tkkrs do (just not as extreme lol). Maybe 90% of the fandom are shippers & that also includes a lot of HL x ML shippers who operate like, well, shippers. It doesn’t really matter if they think their ship is real or not, it’s still pretty common to feel jealous/resentful when another “rival” ship is getting all the moments they want for their own ship - especially when a lot of BTS shippers are basically Y/N’s who heavily project onto one member of their ship while being infatuated with the other.

This is pretty common in shipping in general, tons of fictional ships have absolutely batshit insane fanwars so it wouldn’t surprise me if there were lots of non-serious BTS shippers who also got weird and dismissive about Jikook out of the same kind of petty jealousy that tkkrs feel. They don’t even have to be a shipper to feel that way tbh, some people are just really attached to the idea of their faves being the closest (and I’m not saying everyone who ships other pairings that involve JM/JK feel this way, plenty are normal and even like jkk, but there’s definitely a large enough group who are super weird about it…)

I think this is one of the reasons why so many Jikook moments get so heavily OT7-ified compared to other duos. The way that the fandom still refers to JK’s JM live as JK’s "BTS content" live is the biggest example of this to me, it’s actually insane. I remember the way the quotes were just full of people talking about how much JK “missed his hyungs�� and how he’s “watching BTS content just like me!”. It felt like none of them even acknowledged that it was a Jimin teasing video either, the whole thing was pretty wild. It's sort of the same situation with AYS and the kinds of clips that would circulate ARMY spaces vs the ones that were noticeably absent.

Like, can you imagine how many ARMYs were probably a little bothered by JK saying that the AYS trips were the best of his life? - literally every brand of JK shipper + the really intense OT7 ARMYs who want to think that they’re only happy as seven and have no individuality outside of being a group, hopefully you know the sort of ARMYs I mean, obviously I know JK loves the group and I’m sure the next BV will be very meaningful.

Anyways, sorry for giving you such a long and serious answer to this lmao 😭 it’s a petty rant and not that big of a deal or anything, but it’s just kind of tiring the way this fandom is constantly downplaying jkks bond, picking it apart and making it about other members. It would be nice if they could just give jkk their flowers and celebrate their moments w/out so much obvious jealousy or whatever. And ofc I don’t care what other people ship or if someone wants to make that whole mini/moni thing about nmkook because they ship it, it’s just annoying that those people will pose as non-biased ARMYs and how all of that has really impacted the whole fandom climate & how jikook are treated/talked about. It’s definitely not the end of the world or anything, but it annoys me enough to rant about every now and then lol.

Also, ofc I know there’s plenty of cool non-jkkr ARMYs who do totally appreciate and hype Jikook!! Maybe even the majority of them are totally normal about it, it’s just that there's enough people who are like this that it’s noticeable and annoying.

most fandom takes are incorrect: maybe it’s just me but ive seen a decent amount of people make ling out to be a pervert or just reduce him to a stupid silly character. ling yao is NOT A PERVERT! WHERE DID YOU GET THAT FROM! he would never even do HALF OF THE THINGS YOU GUYS ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!! and he is so far from just being a funny guy that makes the audience laugh. his motives and character as a whole are so incredibly strong and i’ve never been so fascinated with a character like ling yao. please give him more attention.

pretty privilege: they are both pretty. brotherhood art style is a bit inconsistent at times i feel but their designs are both so gorgeous (their colors complement one another!). and also the bloodhell episode. ling yao fighting envy with his cool sword and handsome face…. ed somehow still looking pretty despite all the traveling and fighting. they are pretty!!!

has done nothing wrong: he’s innocent, your honor… everything he’s ever done has been for his family. he’s committed a huge taboo in the alchemy world by trying human transmutation but him and al just wanted their moms back. they were TOO YOUNG TO BE ORPHANS AND HAVE TO GROW UP WITHOUT THEIR MOTHERS LOVE! he ended up becoming a dog for the military but he had to do what he had to do to get closer to that philosopher stone… in 03 he did end up taking some lives too i think. he’s only 15 and never intended to Actually murder someone. seeing him after the greed scene is so incredibly heartbreaking. 03 and cos are such horrific renditions of fma (in a good way) and it makes me so sad to think that’s how he ended up??? he had so much hope as a little kid and was so full of life but by 18 he’s stranded from the last bit of family he knew and is left a depressed alcoholic who keeps losing people. edward elric has done nothing wrong..

there’s probably a deep seated reason why i love him: even from the outside HE IS SUCH A COOL CHARACTER. a character who canonical has prosthetic limbs is already so cool. knowing the story behind those limbs and his brother is so 🙁☹️☹️… his iconic red jacket!!! his LEATHER PANTS WITH HIS PLATFORM BOOTS? his striking gold eyes and bright blonde hair? how he wears his stupid pocket watch…. his dumbass belt… i love edward elric’s flamboyant style so much i’ve never seen a more bi-coded character ever. i love everything about his design and his personality is unlike most shonen anime protags and that adds to his charm. he is hot-headed and will bite your head off if you comment on his height or call him pipsqueak but he is still such a sharp and intelligent young man .. He is literally an Alchemy God…. he is so capable even at such a young age and carries himself so well because if i were him i would be breaking down crying every step of the way! he is dedicated and loyal to his cause of finding the philosophers stone to return their bodies back to normal and doesn’t even hinder once throughout the journey. he loves his brother dearly and it makes me so joyous to see a strong sibling relationship in this genre that isn’t Weird. Sexuality Headcanon: Not sure if there's a label for this (.......demi?), but Hiyoko seems like the type who latches onto a single person at a time, if at all. She won't consciously look for a girl or guy, may not even say someone's attractive if randomly asked, but when someone's got it, she's hooked.

Gender Headcanon: I believe that some people are only passively cisgender, meaning they've never actually ruminated on their identity and considered that they might be something else, and that trans people would be less rare (if still in a very small minority) if more people did. My hc is that Hiyoko's passively cis in SDR2, and that if she grows up, gets more exposure to the idea, and opens her mind enough to question herself, she might enjoy life as a more androgynous person ... Whoa, I just projected myself onto Hiyoko.

A ship I have with said character: I know you love hiyobuki, zombyne, and I'll never take that away from you. That said, I'm basic, so I'll go with mahiyoko for this post. What does Hiyoko like about Mahiru? She's a cute redhead who takes no crap when people fail to meet her high standards, a sweet girl who'll willingly shower with a near-total stranger in a killing game, a true friend who even helps her with her own clothes. What does Mahiru like about Hiyoko (arguably the real question)? I enjoy the notion that Mahiru's more amused by Hiyoko's antics than she lets on. Don't forget, she also has a low opinion of Mikan - not as much as Hiyoko, but not enough to defend her from what are obviously unserious insults. When you're always the serious one, it's nice to let your hair down around someone. I also like the idea that Mahiru loses her goddamn lesbian mind when Hiyoko comes back from summer break taller than her.

A BROTP I have with said character: And this is where I'll talk about Ibuki! Forget the Twilight Syndrome stuff (the writers of SDR2 sure did!). Just look at their interactions! When Hiyoko basically tries Ibuki's whole life in the first trial, Ibuki shouts in amusement something like "You've pierced me with your arrow of truth!" She either knows this girl isn't serious, or she doesn't care if she is. Then the only person in the whole goddamn group who likes Ibuki's music is the most annoying bully in the bunch. That's a terrific joke that works perfectly for Hiyoko as a character. Of course the Ultimate Traditional Dancer, who likely grew up sheltered in one of those homes where modern pop is forbidden and Harry Potter is considered Satanist, would have her mind blown by Ibuki's metal freakouts. Hiyobuki as a ship is great, but even just being besties is awesome for them ... though I think they could also enable each other in just being so mean to people lol

A NOTP I have with said character: I don't have many NOTPs in general ... but I can safely rule out Teruteru after that scene in DR3. Yiiikes.

A random headcanon: Hiyoko was perfectly capable of tying her obi on her own. C'mon, she's not that childish. Occam's Razor would dictate that things went exactly as stated in the game's dialogue ... but what if Hiyoko just neglected showering altogether because she's depressed? You know, cuz she's in a goddamn killing game with a dozen-odd total strangers? Then the one person she likes and kinda trusts offers to join her in the shower and suddenly this obi thing goes from an excuse to an opportunity. When Mahiru dies, though, Hiyoko's shattered, and that comes out in her newfound inability to properly dress herself. This manifestation of her grief gets so bad that it ultimately kills her. What a tragedy: opening up to another person leaves her totally helpless against the person she dismissed as the weakest in the group. There's a fanfic in this ...

General Opinion over said character: No one needs to like Hiyoko for whatever reason. That said, the most common reason I've observed in the haters is that they wouldn't want to be friends with her in real life. In my opinion, that's an extremely boring way of looking at fictional characters - it's not like they'll ever like us back, right? Might as well enjoy Hiyoko for playing a highly important role in the SDR2 ecosystem: the mixer! It's boring if everyone's all nice and stuff. Besides, Hiyoko's no simple bully, nor is she a lost cause. Like any Danganronpa character, the girl has her own hidden depths that make her more compelling than the haters might expect. I'd elaborate ... but anyone interested should reach out to zombyne, or the many other cool people I've met who enjoy Hiyoko as a character.

i think you were supposed to give me another character here, but since you didnt im making the executive decision to go with my other fave, John Sheppard. The answer to this question then depends on what theyre doing 😂 obviously they'd do a lot of talking because that's what daniel does best, but i think he'd be more than a little frustrated with John, lets be real. he's like Jack on steroids. hes reckless, self sacrificing, military oriented, etc. I do think that if/once he realized that john is so much smarter than he lets on he'd be really intrigued and want to have intellectual discussions with him

ooo i think it would be an archeology themed blog, interspersed with occasional out of context quotes from Jack. It wouldnt be super awful, but i think the theme/colors would be pretty simple and basic. imagine your professors website/blog but its actually been updated since 1998.

oh boy do we have enough time in the day for this?? 😅 Daniel needs... so much therapy. i think a lot changed between s1 and s10 daniel in regards to how he views himself. i think s1 daniel was still really traumatized and lonely and probably didn't think a whole lot of himself, and we see him kind of project this onto others as he always fights to protect the little guy, even when jack/sam/the military feels otherwise. does that makes sense? like i believe that a lot of daniels desire to protect and learn from the planets comes from the fact that he knows what its like to be the outcast or weirdo and he doesnt want to walk all over them like has happened to him. s10 daniel i think has a lot more internalized anger and grief and hatred. he's way more jaded by the end, and due to all the shit that happened to him + he did to others (esp while ascended) i fully believe that he has a lot more internalized self hatred. the hope and "naivety" of early seasons has been violently beat out of him

shittt, this is tough. Charli XCX really does feel like a million different artists wrapped up into one so its really hard to compare all her albums. This is also difficult since I have enjoyed all of her albums in completely different stages of my life so this listing could flip entirely depending on my mood. She really does just have that large of a variety of music. Oh also im including most of her mixtapes just for fun. 8. Crash: 7/10 Now I do kinda feel bad about this one. This album really does get too much hate, but this is just what happens when Charli spoils us too much with too many switches up in music. After so many genre-switching pop albums it feels weird to have such a “normal“ pop album. Now don’t get me wrong, Charli’s mainstream sellout is better than most pop artists career high, but it does feel kinda disappointing since it is so “of the time.” Especially with all the 80s influences. Still amazing and Lighting is definitely my favorite an all time banger. 7. True Romance: 8/10 Soooo shockingly amazing. I remember this one took me forever to listen to cause I assumed it would be rough and kinda boring. ABSOLUTELY NOT. This shit is fire, like the songs here can go toe to toe with her career best. “You-ha ha ha,” “Take My Hand,” and “Set Me Free” are all amazing bangers and feel so ahead of their time. This specific brand of edgy synth-pop is just amazing to hear and her brand and persona appear so fully formed especially for a debut. Absolutely check this one out. 6. Pop 2: 9/10 Okay so I may get a bit of hate for this. I love this album don’t get me wrong like look at that 9, but it definitely isn’t her best. This project and the next on the list are basically tied since they are very similar. This one specifically is great, Unlock It obviously became a tiktok hit and Femmebot is another banger I come back to pretty often. Overall it’s an amazing hyperpop mixtape, but there’s just some better stuff ahead of us.

5. Number 1 Angel: 9/10 Like I said these two are very similar to me and not in a bad way. They have their strong differences especially production-wise, but the overall vibes of the projects are similar. I just slightly prefer this one cause a couple of the songs. 3AM is amazing, Roll with Me is great, and the crown jewel Lipgloss is such a favorite of mine. Cupcakke and Charli just mesh soooo perfectly. 4. Sucker: 9/10 Okay im getting hate for this one, but its genuinely amazing!! Like the different genres are definitely making this tough, but this one dives into pop-rock and does it so amazingly. Just from the opener you have to love it. Especially since its a huge fuck you to Dr. Luke. Which we absolutely love and as always FUCK DR. LUKE. Aside from the title track, some of my faves are famous and Red Baloon. Just all time bangers and if you think this is her commercial album you’re in for an amazing surprise. 3. Vroom Vroom: 10/10 yes a 4 track EP is in third place what of it? I don’t need to list favorites its four songs and they’re all perfect. Now I may be a bit biased since I looooove Sophie and her production on this ep is incredibly as usual. Vroom Vroom is also probably my favorite Charli song, its just kinda perfect in every way.

2. Charli: 10/10 Her full hyperpop zenith. It feels like this is what Vroom Vroom, Number 1 Angel, and Pop 2 had been leading up to and it delivers in every single way. Incorporating everything she mastered and is a full display of everything she is capable. This is one of THE hyperpop albums because it fully demonstrates the history of pop and leading into hyperpop and how they meld together. It feels like a fully completed thesis project. Her features are also incredible and perfectly placed onto all the tracks. My faves are probably White Mercedes, Blame It On Your Love, and Shake It. They’re just kinda all perfect.  1. how im feeling now: 10/10 so where do we go from a perfect hyperpop album. how did she make something better? I honestly don’t know. this album honestly functions far more as a follow up to True Romance rather than Charli. It’s definitely hyperpop but it feels much darker and more emotional. Charli was a statement about pop music. how im feeling now is a statement about charli. Because of the focused nature of the recording and the intimate writing you get her most cohesive and emotionally powerful album yet. There are bangers, but I would feel weird recommending any individual song rather than the full album. It was the perfect quarantine album and it still captures something so authentic and beautiful that I couldn’t put it anywhere else than #1.

Soft hair slipped through your fingertips, combing and twirling through dark curls sprawled along your lap. Stray strands tickled your wrists as you played, and you were, it seemed, lulling Eddie Munson to sleep with your touch. Quite effortlessly too, by the lazy drawl of his voice.

It was a song of devotion on repeat, this little ritual of heart and home.

A smile, daring and true graced your lips as fingers halted mid-tug, eyes slipping down, down, down from the horizon above to meet with his own. Those brown eyes that always stole every breath from your lungs, were already staring up at you from the head draped carefully across your lap.

"Try me, Munson."

It wasn't a challenge, no - Eddie knew one when he heard one. This was different, coming from you. This was the tone you chose when curiosity was in its prime, when your heart was open to anything and everything no matter how wild or intense or off the wall. If he had something to share trapped within doubts, you still wanted to hear it. Wanted him to know you wanted to hear it.

(Usually this was about unhinged campaign theories.)

And yet-

He was different. Sounded different.

You knew it was something else, inspiring the haunted look in his eye, and it wasn't because Chrissy Cunningham died in his home this spring, or that the entire town projected their fears onto him on the grandest scale they knew of.

(Although that played its part, of course.)

Regardless, he returned the warmth of your smile with a pale quirk of his own. He looked away, off over the rooftop, off over the town, off into the summer sky, painting the horizon with the most brilliant streaks of oranges and pinks and deep violet clouds. His hands drifted to your wrists, gently detangling fingers from strands. Held them in his own, against his chest.

The cold metal of his rings sends a chill down your spine. You try not to smile brighter at his softness, his kindness, because you know this may not be the time.

"I went into hiding, obviously."

His expression hardens just a little, soft edges becoming a little more sharp, a little more jaded. It was subtle enough to be unnoticeable, but you had known Eddie long enough to learn his tells.

Whatever happened - well. It still bothered him more than he let on.

"If this is another apology about leaving me alone to threaten Jason Carver off my doorstep with a desk lamp -"

A laugh cuts off the joke, drowns out the W.A.S.P. cassette playing softly through the stereo a few feet away. One of those hulking, cordless monstrosities that weighed more than the two of you combined. Somehow, it always came with you, when you made an escape to the empty rooftop of Hawkins Records. It was a music store after all, and you were allowed certain joys of donning the holy title of Shop Manager.

Your smile grows wider then, and Eddie turns a wandering gaze back to you, his fear on hold. That unmistakable light he held, it appeared back in his eyes, then. Laughter faded out with the song drifting through the speakers, and you squeezed the hands entwined with yours.

"That's a no then? Because I swear you've said you'd make it up to me so many -"

Eddie huffs a laugh, pulls himself up so he's sitting in front of you. Your hands fall into his lap, but neither of you move.

"No. I mean I will, obviously - in so many fucking ways, babe, but - I.. .was gonna say something else."

"About that?"

He hesitates. Shrugs. "Yeah, in a way."

"Then try me, Munson."

A breeze flutters through the rooftop, ruffling clothes and hair and everything in-between. The deepening sunset veiled the air with that dreamy shade of pastel pink only found during golden hours. It gifted you both with those infamous rose colored glasses you had always been warned of.

The only difference now though, was these were the kind you couldn't take off even if you wanted to.

(You didn't want to.)

He ducks his head to hide a smirk, folds his hands around yours just a little tighter. "The shit I would give to have seen the look on his fucking face -"

When he looks back at you, waiting patiently with eyes all adoring and steadfast - you're looking at him like he hung the moon and stars in the sky -

The words died in his throat. He almost choked on them all, when the colors in the sky shifted. Deep golden rays sunk low enough to highlight the slope of your nose, the curve of your neck. Gilding light illuminated the shine of your eyes, the glow of your skin. You were radiant, and Eddie swallowed those broken words, unable to try again.

Dusk wrapped you in it's loving embrace, and he couldn't take his eyes off of you. Maybe, if they had you in the Upside Down, your divinity would have simply chased away the devilry. How could the monsters survive against that of a sanctified seraph?

(If they were the equivalent of hellspawn, surely they were deterred by the ethereal - no matter how many times you tried to be the former.)

And then, you raise an eyebrow. Give him a look that screams Earth To Eddie, and your voice simply shatters the spell he found himself under.

"Eddie? Are you…?"

It's jarring, when he comes back to Earth.

A shake of his head, eyes wide. The feel of a warm breeze through his hair and on his palms when he lets yours go. The act of running hands against ripped black denim to ground.

All he wants to do is kiss you.

"What? Yeah, yeah I'm good. There's just a beautiful sovereign in front of me right now, and it’s distracting -"

A laugh sings through your lips while he recovers, and Eddie swears he feels his heart stop.

"Oh you're laying it on thick today, Munson."

"Look - can I just kiss you? Get it out of my system?"

Laughter fades, yet a smile remains. You reach for his hand.

"Of course you can."

The shadows stretching across the pavement lean closer, then closer still. A silhouette of a hand reaches up to caress your cheek, a touch so welcome you lean into him without a thought to be had. And when his lips graze your own, a hand drifts away from music kissed palms to rest against jaw against shoulder against heart.

Thoughts, music, rooftop, Hawkins. It all drifts away, fated to be forgotten when it's just the two of you against the world. It may actually be just that, Eddie thinks, especially when you close the last agonizing distance to bring your shadows together.

He kisses you like he may never see you again.

And you -

The way you kiss him -

It cracks a cavern in his chest, the way your hands cling to his shirt, his hands, his face - it's like you already had lost him, and weren't sure if he really was here, weren't sure if this was real - if he was real.

Eddie barely pulls away, wraps his hands in the blanket you're sitting on to slide you closer to him. The grip you have on his tshirt - Mötorhead, he got it live in the flesh, not that it mattered - your fingers wind tighter in the rough spun cotton.

"Hey," his voice is quiet when he speaks. He doesn't try to tamp down the emotion that swells within that single word. He doesn't need to hide that from you.

No, he just pulls you to his chest instead, and holds you close.

"It's pretty fucking hard to keep me from coming back to you, y'know. I mean - you remember Vecna, right?"

"Obviously. From your last campaign?"

When he confirms, you pull back enough to search his eyes for any hint on where he intends to take this, but - for the first time in a while - you read nothing.

It blindsides you, really.

It’s obvious most of the cast hasn’t bothered with reading the book… but can they at least be aware of what kind of character they are portraying ? What is happening in scenes they are in ?

They really need to start separating their real life and the show because they project their real life relationships with each other onto their characters and their opinions often change depending on who they’re doing the interview with, meaning their takes are all over the place & it’s unprofessional. This has happened plenty of times to excuse it. They really need to understand that it’s okay to admit their character isn’t good, that it’s okay to criticise their friends’ character. Own it instead of trying to make them look nicer and softer.

Sorry, I'm overracting but I’m so annoyed. What happened to actors caring about the original source material and giving good insights ? What happened to intellectual takes ? Why are we stuck with actors who keep talking like they are a part of a romance show ? Enough with “love”, “friendship”, and “chemistry” bullshit already. What’s with this cast and saying things that make no sense ? Half of the time I’m watching their videos or reading their interviews and going ??????????? The cast of children’s actors are so well spoken and then there’s cast of adult actors’ saying some things.

I don't think you're overreacting, nonnie, don't worry. Matt Smith seems to be the only cast member who actually understands the character he's portraying in the show, who Daemon really is and what a morally grey character really means, who can do both sides of his character just as well, and who seems annoyed too (like the choking scene he didn't bother to defend and where he doesn't seem to be invested at all).

The others actually remind me of many Sansa stans and Alicent stans who love their characters because of how they relate to them, and say the whitewashed versions of their faves on screen is the most realistic because it suits them. Some cast members seem to be exactly like this given how they talk about their character on the show. You're right about the interviews with another cast member. Emma and Olivia are obviously friends, which is great, but it reminds me of the interviews with Sophie and Maisie where Sophie was all about Sansa being the best and Maisie would always agree with her.

All the cast members honestly seem to be good actors, but they're apparently totally on the same page as the writers about the writing of their characters and relationships. They don't like the source material, let's be honest, so it would have been a better idea to write about something else entirely rather than change everything so much because the book isn’t “reliable” and call it an adaptation.

Thinking about this after a conversation with some friends yesterday but I feel like a huge reason Percy is an unusually perennial fave for me (I latch onto fictional characters frequently, obviously, but it’s rarer that a special interest returns in full force after it fades, or that I maintain that same level of deep emotional connection to every character I’ve projected on) is because I got into Critical Role when I was I was 1) exactly his age and 2) going through the absolute lowest point of my life, mental health-wise, and it altered my brain chemistry in ways that mean I am now bonded to him through trauma forever

Like, I started watching Critical Role in 2017, when I was 20/21, the same . semester I ended up having a complete mental break and had to drop out of school for the second, much more serious time. I even have a distinct memory of it being one of the earliest things I watched to cheer up after getting out of the hospital, in a hotel room on the drive back home towards what had suddenly become an extremely uncertain future.

And then like. It just continued. Until this most recent story, all the Critical Role fic I’d published was written late, late at night in my mom’s basement, a living arrangement I eventually had to bail on because my relationship with her grew far too strained. I put together the first draft of my Percy costume similarly, half at her place and half at my dad’s (after I switched to sleeping on his couch instead) for a convention almost exactly month before I wrote the suicide note that sent my friends into action to help and ended up resulting in my move to Minnesota (--a move which, while it absolutely saved my life, also ended up giving me debilitating guilt about “abandoning” my younger sisters back home, so. Hmmm. No coping metaphors here or anything.)

The biggest thing keeping me going at that point was actually my own D&D game, but that obviously primed me to have a lot of Critical Role feelings, too, and it was definitely the main work of fiction I was watching/having feelings about throughout most of that whole extremely messed-up period. Percy’s for sure one of my favorite character archetypes to start with, but I think [gestures] all that is another reason he became such an Eternal Favorite Character

Which. Oh boy. What a character to have be load-bearing, mental health-wise but. Sometimes you just need an extremely fucked-up guy, I guess.

Time to be predictable and say BUTTERS for the bingo

Thank you for the ask and sorry this took 1,000 years!!! Putting this under a cut because it ended up being so long.

I have such weird mixed feeling about Butters, but first and foremost, I don't actively dislike him or feel he gets too much screen time now. There was a period during the airing of the mid-late teen seasons where I stopped finding the show as funny, and I definitely thought they were using him for too many hack jokes. So I associated him with my losing interest in the series, but he's just a lil feller and it wasn't his fault.

Some of the best, most cathartic moments in the series revolve around Butters - his speech that saves Bradley's life in "Cartman Sucks", his speech to Stan in "Raisins" (though where does he get off calling Stan a pussy and then starting an incel movement when his Canadian gf of a few months dumps him???), "Yeah!" in response to "Love doesn't follow a plan!" in TxC, his whole,,, everything in "Super Fun Time", the way he stands up to Cartman in "The Magic Bush", this moment:

Calling everyone a skank, ball chin boy, sassing Trent in the moments before disaster strikes. He's bold, he's ignorant, he's Butters.

I don't think everyone is wrong about him but me by any means, but I struggle with the way he tends to be portrayed in fanworks. He gets uwu-fied even harder than Tweek, and it's more perplexing to me in his case because this kid gets angry.

He represses a lot of rage because he internalizes the things his father teaches him, but his father's punishments are arbitrary, harsh, and contradictory, so of course he's all mixed-up. He's sweet and naive, but he's also angry, misogynistic, and tends to latch onto other more violent, dominant boys like Craig (in the early seasons) and Cartman.

I project most onto Tweek, and will sometimes joke about Butters that I made my choice re: abused fictional blond SP boys onto whom to project and I'm sticking with it. Butters honestly does trigger me because he's the abused kid who is unable to consistently grasp that he's being abused. That's very real. It's played for comedy obviously, but I just think this kid would have serious problems accepting love and dealing with his anger as an adult. You know how people ship Cartman with good mental health ironically? That's me with Butters unironically.

Anyway, because I feel insane having this many mixed feelings about a fake guy, I have a fic idea that will hopefully help me exorcise these demons and become slightly less insane. It's just a gen fic examining the home lives of Butters, Kenny, and Tweek.

This is far beyond what I can fit in the normal weekly reviews, so taking this as my notes on the first six pages, with this and this as my major lead-in thoughts:

* Janin's such a perfect fit for Morrison - the scale, the power, the facial expressions selling the character work, the screwing around with the panel formatting as necessary to sell the effect, the numinous sense of things going on larger than you can fully perceive amidst the beauty and chaos. It's a shame he wasn't around 25 years ago to draw JLA, but I'll take him going with Morrison onto other future projects.

* His intro action sequence is such a great demonstration of why Black actually does have something to offer, and also how he's such a dumbass desperately needing Superman to save him from himself.

* While Jordie Bellaire didn't legit go with an entirely monochromatic palate the way early previews suggested, it's still an effect frequently and excellently deployed here. And glad to see Steve Wands carry into this from Blackstars since there's such an obvious carryover from its work with Superman.

* "Gentlemen. Ladies. Others." Great both because of the obvious - hey, Superman's nodding at me! - and because it's a phrasing that reinforces that this take on him (and let's be real Morrison) is old as hell.

* I'm mostly past caring about whether this is an alt-Earth Superman until it becomes indisputable one way or another, this and Action both rule so what does it really matter? But while there are still a couple signs in play suggesting some kind of division (the Action Comics #1036 cover, Midnighter up to time-travel shenanigans) the "lost in time" quote clearly thrown in after the fact to explain how he could have met Kennedy outside of 5G that wouldn't be necessary for an Elseworlds, the assorted gestures towards Superman's current status quo, the Kingdom Come symbol appearing in Action, and that Morrison would have had to completely rewrite the ending if this wasn't supposed to be 'the' version of Clark Kent going forward as was the intent when they first planned it all say to me that no, no fooling around, this is our guy going forward one way or another.

* Janin and Bellaire making the first version of the crystal Fortress ever that actually looks as cool as you want it to.

The question is what happens to Clark if he's not going to live in the sun for 83000 years.

* Clark's 'exercise' here does more to sell me on the idea of Old Man Superman as a cool idea than however many decades of Earth 2 stuff.

* Intergang being noted alongside Darkseid and Doomsday speaks to how much Kirby informed Morrison's conception of Superman.

* This isn't exactly the most progressive in its disability politics but at least it makes clear Black's being a piece of shit about it.

* It's startling how much Clark can get away with saying stuff in here you'd never expect to come out of Superman's mouth. "I made an executive decision" "Privacy, really...?" "You have nowhere to go, Black. Nothing to live for." "There are few people in my life who I instinctively and viscerally dislike, and you've always been one of them." It only works because there's zero aggression behind it, he's just past the point of niceties and being totally frank while making clear none of these assessments preclude that he cares and is going to unconditionally do the right thing every time. He is absolutely, per Morrison, humanity's dad picking us up when we're too drunk to drive ourselves home.

* The story doesn't put a big flashing light over it, but it's not even a little bit subtle having the material threat of the issue be a ticking timebomb left by the carelessness and hubris of generations past.

* Manchester keeps trying to poke the bear and prove his hot takes about Superman and it's just not working. The front he put up under Kelley is gone after decades of defeats, and as Morrison understands what actually conceptually works about him as a rival to Superman underneath the aging nerd paranoia he's exposed as what he absolutely would be in 2021: a dude with a horrific terminal case of Twitter brainworms. I was PANICKED when I heard there was an 'offensive term' joke in this, I was braced for Morrison at their well-meaning worst, but it's such a goddamn perfect encapsulation of a very specific breed of Twitter leftist who uses their politics first and foremost as a cudgel and justification to label their abrasive, judgmental shittiness as self-righteousness (plus it's a killer payoff to a joke from way back in his original appearance). Cannot believe they pulled that off when they're so very, very open about basically not knowing how the internet works.

* @charlottefinn: Manchester Black using his telekinetic powers to force someone he hates to fave a problematic tweet so that he can screenshot it and start a dogpile

@intergalactic-zoo: “Once they cancel Bibbo, Superman won’t be *anyone’s* fav’rit anymore!”

* Friend noted this issue had to be fully the conversation because the whole premise stands on the house of cards of these two somehow working together, and with three 'silent' inset panels the creative team pulls off that turning point.

* So much of this feels on the surface like Morrison bringing back the All-Star vibes with Clark, but when he drops a "That's all you got?" in a brawl you realize what's underlining that bluntness and confidence in the face of failure is that deep down this is still the Action guy too. This dude ain't gonna get wrecked in his Fortress while the other guy chuckles about him being A SOFT WEE SCIENTIST'S SON!

* Bringing up Jor-El made me realize that Morrison already spelled out that this is the final threat to Superman, what he faces at the end of the road:

"Now it's your turn, Superman."

* A l'il Superman 2000/All-Star reference with the Phantom Zone map!

* There's so much intertextuality going on here even by Morrison standards - Change or Die with the old hero putting together a team of morally nebulous folks out to 'fix' everything, Flex Mentallo with the muscleman trying to redeem the punk, Doomsday Clock with the fate of the world hinging on whether Superman can get through to a meta stand-in for an idea of 'modern' comics cynicism, DKR and New Frontier and Kingdom Come and Multiversity and Seven Soldiers and What's So Funny and All-Star and Action and the last 5 years of monthly Superman comics and Authority and probably Jupiter's Legacy and Tom Strong - but none of that's needed. You could go in with the baseline pop cultural understanding of the character and not care about any of the inside baseball shit and get that this is a story about a leader of a generation that let down the people they made all their grand promises to as inertia and day-to-day demands and complacency let him be satisfied with the accomplishments they'd made long ago, looking at a new era and seeing the ways its own activists are dropping the ball. The only thing that fundamentally matters in a "you have to accept you're reading a superhero story" sense is that because he's Superman he's willing to own up to it and listen to people who might know better about some things and try to set things right while he and those who'll take his place still have a chance. And yes, the oldster looking back on their legacy with a skeptical eye and hoping for better from the next generation, hoping most of all that their little heir apparent can fulfill the promise inside of him instead of being a provocating little shitkicker, is obviously also autobiographical.

* The overlaying Kennedy reprisal is such a great visual of a sudden intrusive thought.

* The Kryptonite secret is the obvious "This is going to matter!" moment, but "He lied about his son" is a bit that doesn't connect to anything going on right now so maybe that's important here too? More significantly, the Justice League can't actually be the villains here but that Ultra-Humanite's crew are in an Earth-orbiting satellite makes pretty clear what's up.

* I've said before that between Superman, OMAC, and a New Gods-affiliated speedster this was going to use all of Morrison's favorite things. King Arthur playing a role isn't exactly dissuading me.

* Love the idea that all the antiheroes have their own community in the same way as the capes and tights crew. They definitely all privately think the rest are posers though and that they alone are Garth Ennis Punisher in a mob of Garth Ennis Wolverines.

* Manchester's fallen so far he's gone from trying to convince Superman to kill to convince him to dunk on people for their bad takes and Clark just doesn't get it. Official prediction of dialogue for upcoming issues:

"According to these bloody Fortress scans, the only thing that can restore your powers is an unfiltered hit of dopamine. Don't worry, Doctor Black has a few ideas."

"Hmm. Maybe I'll plant a nice tree?"

"...fuck you."

* Ok I already talked about how great the Fortress looks in here but LOVE this library.

* A pair of pages this seems like the right spot to discuss from Black's original appearance that underlines both his and Superman's inadequacies up to this point:

Responding to the problem of "the government and penal system are hopelessly corrupt" neither of them has any actual notion of what to do about it in spite of their respective posturing beyond how to handle individual outside actors - each is in their own way every bit as small-minded and reactionary as the other. Clark's coming around though, and he's holding out hope for the other guy.

* Superman: Have a lovely mineral water :) proper hydration is important :)

Manchester Black: *Is a dude who can get so mad he vomits and passes out. At water.*

* That last page is the one to beat for the year, and does more to put over the idea of this as an Authority book than that Midnighter and Apollo are literally going to show up. It also feels like Morrison tacitly acknowledging all the ways the premise could go or at least be received wrong - from Superman saying 'enough is enough' to who he's bringing into the fold to go about it - in the most beautifully on-the-nose fashion imaginable. Maybe they'll save us all! Or maybe they'll drown us in their vomit.

Dsmp disability/neurodivergence hcs pog

(Obviously all to do with the characters, not the content creators!)

To start with, the characters with disabled/neurodivergent actors have the same disabilities/neurodivergences- George is colourblind, Tubbo is dyslexic, Wilbur is probably autistic, Dream, Techno, Eret, and Karl have ADHD, ect (in case I forgot anyone lol.)

Callahan is entirely mute due to unknown causes. While all of the original eight and a couple more people on the server know sign language, he primarily communicates with writing in the server's group chat.

Ponk is missing three of her limbs- both of her legs entirely and her arm up to the elbow. He has redstone and gold prosthetics in similar colours to his mask.

Fundy's developed some pretty bad anxiety ever since the Final Control Room.

JSchlatt suffered severe substance abuse issues, along with atrophying muscles.

Eret's cloudy white eyes, while mostly stemming from their descendance from ghosts, does leave them with very light sensitive and slightly blurry eyes. That’s another reason he wears sunglasses, apart from hiding his eyes, to reduce the pain of sunlight.

Jack Manifold lost his tail during his second canon death making it very hard for him to balance (I draw him as a wolf hybrid btw before you wonder). After coming back as a hellhound his firey tails do a bit to help but he’s also left with constant minor chronic pain, along with feeling constantly freezing cold despite feeling fever-warm to the touch.

Along with the obvious amnesia, dying in the explosion in El Rapids left Karl partially deaf, which he talks even louder than before to try and compensate.

HBomb has addiction issues with alcohol.

Ever since his revival with the totem, Technoblade's had frequent headaches and hypersensitivity to touches to his head.

Along with his severe allergies to water and amnesia, Ranboo is autistic (mostly because I like him and I WILL self project onto all my faves bby).

Those behind the cut- an extra warning for fairly graphic descriptions of torture, abuse, injury, and death!

Due to Quackity’s torture, Dream is missing an arm above the elbow. He’s also had most of his claws/teeth removed or damaged, making it very hard for him to move or eat. He’s partially blind, due to having an eye ripped out, and is partially deaf due to having an ear torn off in addition to many, many blows to the head.

Tommy's autistic and ADHD (shut up let me project on this character). He’s also got PTSD and depression. His first death in the Final Control Room permanently crippled his leg, requiring him to wear a leg brace, and his second death having an arrow through his skull left him with frequent migraines. The Glasgow Grin I always draw him with after Exile makes it hard for him to eat or speak, and he very frequently pops off the stitches- he carries a needle and thread with him at all times to help with this. It’s also part of the reason he’s so fond of gapples- their healing properties numb the pain when they touch his mouth. After his revival, he’s hyper mobile- with his limbs that were broken in his death bending at weird angles- and has severe chronic pain due to his injuries never healing (meaning he’s got really bad bruises and cuts over all his body). His wings are atrophied and have been from “birth”, being malformed under the heavy feathers and not even enough to glide with.

Tubbo's got burn scars primarily covering his arms and half his face- he raised his arms to block the first firework but the blast almost completely destroyed his arms and the second blast hit the side of his face directly- but cover basically his entire body. They never healed over properly and get damaged or infected very easily. One of his eyes was so badly damaged in the blast it’s completely blind and clouded over. One of his horns was also destroyed to the base, and its incredibly painful when touched. Tubbo's also developed some issues with substance abuse- mostly alcoholism, though at a MUCH lighter level than Schlatt. He’s also obviously got PTSD and anxiety, ect.

Wilbur Soot always struggled with depression and paranoid tendencies, which worsened as the series went on along with the trauma from the Final Control Room. His wings were damaged by his second canon death, leaving one of them so badly damaged he can no longer glide with them. He developed substance abuse issues, mostly with smoking but also vaping and alcohol. One of his arms was destroyed by the blast of L'Manburg, and this carried over to Ghostbur (with Revivebur, its where his arm bleeds and where I draw his mechanical arm). Ghostbur had severe amnesia, in addition.

Quackity is partially blind in one of his eyes, where Techno drove a pickaxe through. It’s clouded over but he can see out of it a bit. The side of his mouth on the same side is paralysed in its position too, due to again having a pickaxe brutally shoved through it. He also has some substance abuse issues- he did found the cartel, after all!

Philza is autistic (am I making the whole sbi family autistic because I’m autistic and I like them? Yes and you can’t stop me). Obviously the explosion damaged his wings- absolutely tottering them, making them unable to fly or even glide along with making every touch to them very painful, though he still refuses to get them amputated even if it’d probably be the wiser decision- it also damaged the side of his face and his destroyed his eye closest to the blast, revealing that under his skin is just a void of stars.

Number 1. Triton. I just think they’re super cool and I’ve always been obsessed with mermaids and I want one so bad, you guys.

Who I think should play them: Depending on the personality and aesthetic™, either Laura or Taliesin. Laura could do a super cute mermaid-aesthetic character, and Taliesin could be Yet Another Incredibly Gender Character with a deep-sea goth.

Number 2. Pachydan. I blame Aabria and Exandria Unlimited for making me obsessed with these elephant people. Also Caduceus was my fave character in C2, so another deep-voiced, wise, gentle-giant character would be right up my alley.

Who I think should play them: Honestly? I want an elephant-man wizard or sorcerer to be Travis’ first ever full caster.

Number 3. Minotaur. Listen, Sunbreaker Olumon had a life-changing effect on all of us. Bullman big sexy.

Who I think should play them: I know I just said bullman, but give me bulllady, please and thank you. Marisha or Ashley could play a big minotaur lady so well.

Number 4. Water Genasi. While I was getting caught up on C2, I was already mentally creating a wishlist of what I wanted the pc’s in C3 to be, and I had been hoping for a genasi – and then between C3 and EXU, I got three of them. Now we just need a water genasi pc to complete the set. (and yes I know we got Jester, but she was only half water genasi and mechanically, she played as a tiefling.)

Who I think should play them: Liam, most likely. Though that may just be projecting The Gentleman’s personality and appearance onto this option. I would also love to see Marisha play a more noticeably inhuman character.

Number 5. Tiny PC, like a Pixie or Sprite or Something. I literally just want a tiny little fucker in the party. Every party has to have a token shortie, and Sam has to make up for accidentally creating a Medium sized character this campaign.

Who I think should play them: Sam, obviously. He is the resident Short Character Player in the cast. Though I would also kill to see Laura play a chipper but exceptionally dangerous pixie…

Honourable mention goes to Travis playing a Tabaxi, for obvious and hilarious reasons.

Teen Wolf triads are something that can be so personal, so here’s a list of my faves 

Scott/Stiles/Allison

The OG trio. The gang that dies together might not stay together, but they’re still iconic.

Scott/Stiles/Lydia

Any Scott/Stiles/X dynamic is brilliant, but few more than this one. These three have been there since the beginning and they’ve gone through so much together. There’s no Teen Wolf without them. 

Scott/Stiles/Derek

They were the driving force in S1&2 and had some absolutely iconic moments together. Hate that there wasn’t more of them after that. 

Scott/Derek/Isaac 

Mostly based on S2/3. I was very invested in Isaac’s struggle to pick between these two. 

Scott/Stiles/Isaac

This triad’s dynamic completely changes between S2 and 3. In Season 2, Isaac, as part of Derek’s pack is a slightly antagonistic figure and it’s very much Scott&Stiles vs Isaac but in S3, Scott and Isaac grow closer while Isaac and Stiles erm, don’t. It’s very fun to watch. 

Scott/Isaac/Allison

My ot3 and the only trio on this list that I 100% ship. 

Isaac/Erica/Boyd

Ayy, it’s the OG Hale Pack aka 3 teens bonding over being thrown headfirst into something they weren’t prepared for and Derek’s horrible leadership. Isaac should’ve ran away with Erica and Boyd for solidarity’s sake. 

Chris/Allison/Isaac

Chris’s struggle between hating Isaac for dating his daughter and wanting to adopt him is hilarious. One of my favourites. 

Scott/Melissa/Isaac

 Who didn’t completely melt at Isaac joining the McCall fam? The scene where they’re ‘guarding’ Melissa was so cute. As a bonus, it made Stiles’s animosity towards Isaac that much stronger. Will forever hate that this trio was more or less non-existent in 3b even though I love Chris/Allison/Isaac. 

Derek/Cora/Peter

The non-dead Hales. Why oh why did Cora have to leave? Their family dynamic was great. 

Allison/Lydia/Cora

I know they only had a couple scenes as a triad, but there was so potential. We love antagonism with underlying sexual tension. And ofc, the only thing better than 1 terrifying badass that can secretly be super sweet is 3 terrifying badasses. 

Derek/Isaac/Boyd

At one point, the only non-dead members of the Hale Pack (TW quickly amended that). I always think of the S3a Loft scene where Boyd and Isaac skip school to protect Derek. Despite how awful of an alpha Derek’s been, they still care about him and he cares about them (as actual people and not just betas that he needs for power like he did originally)

Derek/Allison/Lydia. 

Yes it’s my 5th s3 based trio in a row, but can you blame me? This is 100% based off the classroom scene in 3x02. 

Allison/Lydia/Jackson

Although Lydia and Jackson were both awful in S1, their friendship with Allison and their immediately taking her under their wing was beyond precious. Additionally, it combines both the asshole-who’s-soft-towards-1-person- dynamic (jydia w/ allison) and assholes-who-secretly-care-about-each-other (jydia) And ofc, the underlying tension due to Jydia’s disdain towards Scott and later, Jackson and Allison’s experiences/knowledge of the supernatural. 

Malia/Kira/Lydia

Comedy gold. Their scenes speak for themselves and we needed more. 

Liam/Mason/Corey

Their S6a dynamic is sooo underrated and should’ve been given more screen time. I loved watching Liam and Corey struggle to get along for Mason’s sake because they want him to be happy. It was all very wholesome and one of the few things that made 6a worth watching. 

Stiles/Scott/Liam

Aka the best part of S4.Their dynamic is so fun and well-balanced and infinitely better because they’re a triad. You’ve got Scott and Liam figuring out their mentor/mentee relationship with Stiles co-parenting and preventing the Scott/Liam dynamic from turning unhealthy. (Liam and Scott’s S6 dynamic veered way too close to parent/child for my taste. They need Stiles to balance it out) It’s also hilarious how quickly Liam accepts being aggressively adopted by two idiots who are barely older than him. And Stiles takes so easily to playing older brother/co-parent. It’s adorable. They’re adorable. 

Erica/Allison/Lydia 

Very similar dynamic to Allison/Lydia/Cora due to Cora and Erica’s similar personalities but also not, which has a lot to do with Allison and Lydia’s reactions to Erica’s weaponized feminity. Also, there’s a lot more history between these girls and I want to know everything about what Erica thinks of Lydia after going to school with her for years. 

Sherriff/Melissa/Chris 

Of the top of my head, I can only remember that time where they were trapped under the Nemeton and that’s simply unacceptable. 

Sheriff/Noshiko/Melissa. 

It’s a crime that this triad never got scenes. Especially after the Sheriff tried to arrest Kira. I know Melissa bitch slapped him but I wanted to watch these two badasses gang up on the Sheriff together. ( the Noshiko/Melissa dynamic would be so iconic.) 

Victoria/Noshiko/Melissa

Another triad that never shared scenes (obviously because Vic is dead) but their power would’ve been off the charts. I want to make a joke about milfs, but I’ll refrain. 

The Yukimura fam

Seemed appropriate since my last two also included. Noshiko.I love family dynamics and the Yukimuras are no exception. The attraction of this triad, for me, is mostly the dynamic between Kira and Noshiko and how Ken navigates between them. They’re also a trio that we didn’t see nearly enough of in S4 and 5. Like seriously, where were they? Noshiko’s on the dead pool, but she’s barely mentioned. (on a mostly unrelated note, how is the 900 yr old Kitsune worth less than a girl that just found about her kitsune powers?)

Derek/Allison/Scott

I don’t need to explain this one. The angst, the drama, Derek projecting Kate onto Allison and Allison trying to murder Derek and their evolution to reluctant allies with a good dash of Scallison and Scott navigating his own difficult relationship with Derek. Aka the complicated, tension fraught trio we all loved/should love. ( ok, I kind of explained it)

Derek/Scott/Liam 

And here we have a two for one deal; two mentor/mentee dynamics in 1 triad. People much smarter than me have written about this trio in extensive detail, so all I’m saying is that Derek’s that one uncle who occasionally comes around and gives somewhat helpful advice. 

Braeden/Malia/Scott 

Braeden and Scott were great in S4. Braeden and Malia were great in S5. Scott and Malia are pretty great when they’re not in a relationship. Combine, and you get what had to be a kick-ass triad that’s sadly never canonly shown together (I think)

Melissa/Chris/Isaac

Not actually featured in the show, but Isaac deserves all the parental figures and I want to witness the surely epic custody battle between Chris and Melissa. 

Malia/Scott/Peter

That this trio is on here is actually pretty funny because I hate both Scalia and the forced Peter/Malia bonding in S6. But I loved the scene where Peter warned Malia not to fall in love with Scott because a) he has absolutely 0 right to advise her on anything and b) because of the history between Scott and Peter. In a way, a relationship with Malia is just another thing tying Scott to someone that’s repeatedly caused harm to him and his friends and was the initial cause for all the pain he’s suffered in the last couple years. I just find this dynamic worth exploring. 

Malia/Derek/Peter

The Hales 2.0. Derek and Malia deserve to bond over unwillingly being related to Peter, that scumbag. 

Malia/Stiles/Peter

Stiles and Peter are so fun together and Stalia is my jam. Throw in an antagonistic Malia and Peter relationship and they’re entertaining as hell. Much more lighthearted than Malia/Scott/Peter.  

Stiles/Malia/Lydia 

To clarify, this has nothing to do with a love triangle and everything to do with how their personalities play off each other. It’s one of those trios where together, they’re either terrifying or absolute morons. 

Stiles/Cora/Derek

Admittedly, my version of this is very Sterek+Cora and the hilarity of Stiles and his attraction to Hales but it’s also 3x snark and you really can’t go wrong. 

Scott/Stiles/Melissa 

It’s Melissa and her boys 1.0. This woman is by far the best parent on this show, and I love the specific dynamic among these three. Melissa might not always like Stiles, but she cares about him and there’s the mutual understanding that they both adore Scott and would do anything for him. Also, Mel being exasperated by the dumbass duo is always funny.  

Kate/Allison/Chris

Lowkey another custody battle because Kate and Chris do fight to be the bigger influence on Allison This is such a tragic trio to me, and the lesson here is basically that sometimes love isn’t enough. Chris and Kate both genuinely love Allison and she loves them too but can’t have both and at some point, she has neither. Kate and Chris care about each other, but that’s not enough either. In the end, they all lose each other. There’s no happy ending for them, at least not with each other. 

Derek/Stiles/Peter

Stiles just has chemistry (not necessarily romantic) with all Hales and this trio really shines through in 3x01 and in S3 in general. “Chess is Stiles’s game” asgdhfjgh. I wanted more of that very specific dynamic.

Little bit more about why I hate reader inserts:

I believe shippers of any kind fall into three categories—

Those who want to be part of the fantasy

Those who want to “watch” the fantasy

Those who enjoy both

Obviously yumejin / self-shippers (by extension I include OCs in this) and people who enjoy reader inserts fall into the first category. They wanna be WITH their faves in one capacity or another. I don’t. I find it intrusive since I (the reader) do not belong in that world. I like to call these types the exhibtionist types, since they put out their insertion fantasies openly.

Fujin, Himejin, or anyone who enjoys Canon x Canon ships exclusively fall into the second category. Some may project onto one character or another but it still counts as this. These are the voyeuristic types, as I like to call them. They want to watch rather than being a participant in a fictional relationship. They know they’re not a part of that world and they engage in shipping the same way they engage with the source material - from the outside looking in. This is the type I am.

Pretty much the last category are for when both these types overlap with their interests. They just enjoy both aspects to this shit.

So that’s how I break down things like this.

In short, I like to watch not participate lol

But I don’t like to watch characters (OCs, inserts, etc) I don’t care about participate.
