"It was some Emmys. And it was the day after. And I had a private plane, and I was giving you a ride. And you were late, and I was so angry. And we sat on this private plane, flying to Vancouver from LA, not talking, and you wrote me a letter.
So you're just, like, six feet away from me, writing a letter to me, that you give to me, and it's a beautiful letter. I don't remember it exactly, but it was like...it was appreciative, and...it was all the things I wanted to hear. But it's just amazing that we couldn't just have that conversation. You know, the fact that it was a private plane, and it's just all ridiculous." This is was by far my favorite memory David Duchovny shared with Gillian Anderson on his podcast.
I know I don't know them or their relationship at all, and I'm not trying to say David & Gillian = Mulder & Scully, but I am tickled by the fact that both partnerships seem to communicate most effectively by almost never communicating at all. And on the rare occasion they do, it's one of them reaching out in this unconventional, unexpectedly generous way that the other remembers for the rest of their life...after which they both go to work the next day and not talk about it. <3

Every day that passes by i grow more convinced that the x-files acted as an outlet for Gillian and David to act on an intimacy they knew had no place in their personal lives
