Lunar has a squishmallow collection. It starts small. A bag clip of Sunny the Bee, gifted from the one and only, to remember her by on tour.
Cirrus and cumulus surprise her with a larger version when they notice the ghoulette trying to snuggle the 3 inch plushie at night. She lights up, and the stuffed bee is almost always with her when on the bus.
Dew sneaks an eggplant clip on her bag. Midas gets her a Godzilla one after she enjoys movie night almost too much. And it just keeps going. You’d be surprised how many pit stops end up with Lunar walking away with a new squishy friend.

Sometimes you just have one of those moments where the progress we've made as a culture get thrown into stark relief. You look at something and go "Holy shit, that would never have happened when I was a kid."
Today, I had one of those moments when I realized that the teenage boys I'm working with are just. genuinely, openly enthusiastic about going to Build-a-Bear for their outing.
These are sixteen and seventeen year old boys! They just had a whole conversation about what to name their "cute", mostly new squishmallows! They're genuinely excited that they're going to Build-a-Bear this weekend and asking other kids to pick up specific accessories for them!!
Holy shit, that never would've happened when I was 16. None of the boys would have dared to be visibly interested - and neither would most of the girls! There would have been a million gay jokes and "Haha, you're a girl" jokes and "What are you, a baby?" jokes. Teenagers weren't even supposed to care about anything back then!
Less than 15 years later, and I'm watching three 17 year old boys treat all that as not even worthy of comment.
So let's call that a reason for hope. Even when the kids aren't alright, in some ways apparently they are alright. Go Gen Z, honestly. It's so lovely to watch you guys just openly doing and saying stuff that, when I was a teen, would've been a social death sentence.

Currently frustrated (again) abt how little it feels like we can talk about certain things in the plush community, mainly when it comes to politics and stuff like that
A huge example on my mind rn is the whole squishmallow/jazwares thing
It frustrates me to see ppl in my servers and on other sites continuing to buy squishmallows right now, and I feel like it's only gonna get worse as the holidays get closer
I can't help but think that a lot of these people just don't know (I mean shit, posts about it were literally hidden/deleted on the main squishmallow subreddit), and I want so badly to tell them but in multiple places that's not allowed, because of the nature of the community and people wanting to keep it a certain way
In a way I get it, but the silence is deeply upsetting when support of genocide and disgusting misinformation is what's on the table
I know a lot of us are in this community for comfort, or to connect to childhood, whatever it could be but as adults in this community we should not let our own comfort take precedence over the lives of innocent people, it doesn't matter if you're political or not
On the other hand, I feel like we're avoiding this topic to specifically avoid discourse, but frankly I don't care because I don't want to share a community with anyone who would oppose the beliefs fueling the boycott of this company
I don't want to share a community with people who would defend genocide, specifically the killing of innocent people in Gaza, for any reason, and it's disheartening not knowing who I could be rubbing shoulders with in this community because of the specific lack of conversation about these important topics
I don't really have any profound point here, I don't have a solution, I'm just frustrated and disgusted
Fuck Jazwares, stop buying squishmallows, and FREE GAZA

Other issues with the company aside, I’ve just. Never liked Squishmallows. Something about them feels so bland and soulless to me personally. Squishables though. Those guys are so much fun. My parents got my brother and I each squishmallows for xmas and I ended up giving mine to him cause I could never love it.
But now I’ve ordered myself a sea turtle Squishable who has kindly old man vibes and I can’t wait.

trying to imagine what sylvie's apartment would look like and there is a part of me that thinks about how the last time we saw her enjoy her freedom as a child, she was playing with that dragon- and now that she is somewhere safe and stable there MIGHT be a chance she would purchase some little toys.
it's about doing what you couldn't growing up and reclaiming that autonomy that was lost. it's about holding that childhood she never got to have close and saying that yeah, a little friendly guy WOULD look nice in this room i earned, not only with my survival, but also just for being alive- people should get to do and enjoy things that make them feel loved!!
she would definitely think it hurts her deadly image at first but in reality no one cares and they all just let the woman buy a damn shark plush at the aquarium.
