Day twenty - favorite Sehnsucht song

Again very strong album with songs like Engel, Du Hast or Sehnsucht. With almost romantically sounding song like Klavier. And, for some reason, widely hated Kuss Mich (I personally like this song a lot).

My favorite fact about this album is about the booklet photoshoot.

The booklet shows single pictures of each band member. The photos were taken by Gottfried Helnwein in his castle in 1996. Each band member's face is painted white with various devices attached to it. The instruments used are surgical tools from the original collection of famous German surgeon Ferdinand Sauerbruch (1874-1951), who was head of the surgical department at the Berlin hospital Charité from 1928 to 1949. While the surgical tools are antique, Paul Landers seems to have a lung retractor in his mouth, Richard Kruspe appears to have trachea retractors in front of his eyes, Christoph Schneider seems to have some kind of spreader attached to his mouth, and the masks that Till Lindemann and Flake Lorenz are wearing could possibly have been used for anaesthesia or for breathing in the pressure chamber Sauerbruch developed.

I think these photos look really cool, I am not sure if I would like to have antique lung recractor or spreader in my mouth 😁 not even properly desinfected one.

And now my favorite song from this album.

This song is just soooooo good! It's fast, it's raw, it's amazing! I absolutely love the energy if that song. I think it would be killer song to play live. To bad it never made it into the setlist, they play it live only once, as much as I know, no audio or video I could find.

Lost | Aram & Leck

Leck had destroyed it all: the only thing in Xia’s room that had been safe from his tirade had been the relics from the ancestors which remained safely untouched upon their alter. 

When he had received word that she could not be found anywhere, he punished the guards for their incompetence. Where could she have gone when it was their only task to keep her under their watchful eye at all times? How could they have lost her? When every inch of the palace and then the entire city had been searched twice over, and no trace of his betrothed had been found, Leck’s rage could not be contained. 

The guards were all dead now. They could have no further place in this world after so great an error. They’d all suffered for it. Leck had regretted killing them as quickly as he had (they did not deserve the sweet release of death!) but he had been brutal and once he had started, he could not stop. 

“Your Highness, the Emperor seeks an audience ... “

Leck turned, slowly to face his brother. His eyes, which moments ago had been filled with rage, did soften at the sight of Aram, but blood was dripping from his hands and mouth. 

He bowed low as Aram entered, “Brother,” He whispered, his voice quiet, calm, respectful - three things he normally was not. 

The calm that had washed over him by his brother’s presence was only a temporary one. He looked around the room, shaking his head in disbelief. “WHO COULD HAVE DONE THIS?” He screamed. “They will spend the rest of their days screaming, wishing they were dead.” He vowed. It had not occurred to him that Xia wanted to leave or that her escape, although she had had aid, had been her own doing. 

“They are all dead,” He said, speaking of the guards who were supposed to keep Xia safe. “They died screaming. The captain I made watch, and in the end, I ate him alive.”
