anyone know if bookbinding glue works on canvas? im thinking i want to add a shield to my halloween costume next year and am trying to figure out how to attach the front
#not silm#not art#halloween#first attempt w cardboard hot glue and canvas worked fairly well but the back is kind of lumpy from the glue and the corners arent great#so im thinking of doing painted canvas on book board with binding glue to adhere it#so itll be nice and sturdy#not sure how i would attach the straps though#unfortunately im too busy to do much in the way of costume upgrades rn but for next year i have a few things in mind#i definitely want to do a cloak- i saw this nice quilted fabric at joanns that could work as an insulating/lining layer to give it weight#i really want to do fake fur trim for the Fancy Himring Cloak but ill have to find something im not allergic to#idk how to do cloak clasps but the actual sewing part should be reasonably simple since its mostly one piece#just have to attach the outer layer and the lining layer and hem the thing#for the helmet im trying to find larger brads that might work to add a rotating visor#idk how to get it to stay shut though. will probably have to adjust the angle so it doesnt keep getting stuck on my nose#and so i can actually wear glasses with it and not fall down every single set of stairs like last time i wore it#anyone know if there are like. sewing patterns but for 14th century helmets?#armor wise i might actually go with the slipper top for pauldrons#would probably be decently padded#gambeson means i need to learn how to sew shirts#so maybe thatll be a few years down the line#for the shield i have one custom heraldry and one feanorian heraldry. maybe ill make two shields idk#the cuirass is going to be harder - maybe alternate a few layers of cardboard and quilted fabric? would that get too thick tho#ive tested cardboard + heavy waffle blanket gambeson and that works pretty well so maybe just go with that#maybe a cheap bookboard layer for the top?#idk how well you can paint book board though. will have to run some experiments

no sims 5 . guys im gonna
#UGHHHH . like. i get theyre planning on just updating the sims 4 for fucking ever but like. i feel like its such a shit base and theres only#so much you can do#its been running for 10 years atp like.#idk man i was hoping for sims 5 bad bc i wanted to just have it be like. Well made from the start and like. i hate the current way packs r#structured and if its gonna stay sims 4 thats gonna continue to be the standard. ughhhhh.#also idk how i feel abt cc kits like. i like tht the creators will be paid for work and that console players can have cc or whatever but#idk . i already dont particularly like Kits i think like. idk.... i kinda wish the cc kits would just be free but the creators Obviously r#still played. or have something similar to like#is it like. bethesda i think has its own mod thing that works on console.. itd be nice to have something like that instead#but also ig asking ea to maintain an online gallery of any sort is sort of asking to be disappointed LOL#idk man. im just bummed.... i feel like itd be better to just. leave ts4 behind and if they rly want to Divert from linear sims games they#should like#Make a game that's BUILT for that like. a sturdy foundation that would make ppl want to keep playing so long. idk..#and also like..so many features i personally would want in a sims 5 arent like. things that could be updated in ts4#like we arent gonna ever get open neighborhoods like ts3#and i get those were laggy for a lot of ppl but i honest to goodness feel like it could be optimized and fixed#But. that would be work for ea DJFNFJFN so. wtvr#sry. i try to be like. charitable ik the actual sims team work hard and stuff but it feels like nothing is given the time it needs to be#fully thought out..#also like. 1. i dont think ea would have Paid fixes for their jank ass game which is one of the biggest benefits of mods#at least id hope they wouldnt thatd be disgusting. but like. i feel like a sizable subset of mod benefits is the fixes#like. whenever a new pack drops there are immediately 500 fixes for it in order for it to be At all functional or enjoyable 😭😭😭 idk ..#not that. idk ig it only said Creator focused kits so itll probably mostly be cas stuff anyway. but idk man... just a bit hrm to me#ig that does make sense. bc having gameplay mods or anything like that i dont think like. idk if ea would do patches for it or if theyd have#the creator do patches or what#idkidkidk. im just very .#also sims movie i dont careee im fucking sick of like. videogame franchise movies stop it. ik i dont have to see it i just think its lame.#and also im still mad abt the mc movie yeah.

i got the base armsocks off welovecolor BUT i will warn. the first time i ordered from them i got double charged so Watch Out
however they are super fucking nice seamless armsocks
like i used to use ones that were more pantyhose material and theyd catch and get runs and holes, these are way more structurally sound
the CLOWS are made of instamorph moldable plastic, my most beloved material for claws/teeth/bones
the beans are
a work in progress atm im still refining that cause they come off with how much i put these stupid things on and do shit like play viddy games in them and other bullshit
its taking me a hot fucking minute to get something functional and sturdy in that department
the instamorph tho that shits easy once its hot you can just smush it into fabric and itll p much just adhere itself
be CAREFUL with that though because you need to get it where you want it first try cause it WONT come off

i can really see your passion for it and i am smiling so hard at it!!! i dont have much experience with book binding--i did ir once for a school project, that's all really--but i absolutely adore the idea of printing and binding fanfics that sounds sooo cute and fun and then you have a physical copy of a fanfic to read i love that
BOOK BINDING IS SO COOL AND I NEED TO MAKE IT EVERYBODYS PROBLEM. ive always found book-binding cool but like. concentrating in book arts made me MISERABLE to be around HJKFDHKGJFDHK my irl friends always make fun of me because i mention books so much but BINDING SO COOL!!! like holy shit. please go look up america: a hymnal by bethany collins RIGHT !! NOW !!! (and if you live in massachusetts - its actually ON DISPLAY RN in the pem (peabody essex museum) ahahaha go check it out, you know you want to, cmooon its so worth it-)
but like . i got to look at that book very up close and personal because we were visiting the pem's archival library, the phillips library - realized i shouldve clarified on my last ask lol sorry - and its AMAZING. i LOOOVE ephemeral pieces, and using the fragile nature of the book as a metaphor for america and its relationship to freedom and equality? HOLY SHIT. SO SO SO COOL BETHANY COLLINS IS A GENIUS. i am genuinely sad that most people will only ever see it behind a case because it is so so different when you see it falling apart in front of you. i am so fuckin obsessed with this piece, i think about it on a weekly basis and then i cry because i wanna be up close and personal with it AGAIN!!! my dream is shaking bethany collins' hand and telling her she changed my life
once again i am talking about anything but fan binding SORRY COOKIE . I AM INTERESTED IN FANBINDING I PROMISE I JUST. i come at book arts from a very artistic standpoint due to my academic experience, while fan binding is something ive always watched from a distance? so its easier for me to talk about artist books i like HJKDGHJKFDHK but! but!!! it is SO cool to imagine having a PHYSICAL COPY OF YOUR FAVORITE FANFIC ... i really wanna get into fan binding so i can make a collection of my favorite oneshots :] i wanna start with just a few fics tho, probably like. 1k to 3k? so i can get the hang of laying them out (i WILL be laying these things out in indesign. you cannot MAKE me print a book in ao3 format absolutely not they need to be perfect HDKFJGHJKDFH) and how they look while printed, etc. then from there, i can move onto the full collection, and use a nice bookboard to keep it sturdy, and use fancy paper for the inner cover- itll be SO NICE im so excited just thinking about it!!!

just me ranting about real life shit
ugh so okay i moved into my new apartment. its all good. theres too many stairs but its fine. the location is fine. the other people living here all mostly elderly and they all seem fine too.
the parking situation? an absolute nightmare. like i have a full blown tummy ache 24/7 because i don’t know how to park my car??? UGH
also today i cleaned out the drains of both the shower and the sink because they were full of gunk and didnt drain properly. i removed the side of the tub and the floor under is like… black. i don’t know if its mold or just dirt that keeps getting wet over and over. the people who lived here before clearly didnt clean under there though. the actual shower head leaks so theres water everywhere when you shower.
and today the toilet stopped flushing properly.
i like it here. i have faith itll be fine and its just minor things really but im just so tired.
but lets end on a positive note!
i got a new couch and its the first piece of furniture ive bought for big money. and its big and comfy and sturdy and very nice! i like it alot!
i also feel at home here unlike my last apartment where i kinda just felt like… like i landed there temporarily and it never really felt like home. this place has potential.
cant wait for my assigned parking spot though hah.
also steady wifi again aaand my vacation is in about a week!
i can do this 💪

!! Gross Post Alert !!
Death, Decay and Maggots- Part 5
Step one is to find a good sturdy sealable box. It has to be good quality as itll be quite heavy and will contain water too. We use the Kis Bi Box, just cause it looks nice too.
Its been a while since we tried a different technique and this time required a bit of prep work. Today we'll go through creating a rot box with grass.
Next we added a layer of gravel and then a layer of sand. This should help retain water and heat. The sand will also stop smaller bones vanishing in the gravel.
Tumblr media
Your box is now ready to go.
Its time to add your fresh cut grass, grass is used in this instance because as grass decays it produces heat and grass breaks down rapidly creating moisture too. The added bacteria makes processing pretty painless. It doesnt smell too bad (so long as you can stand fermenting grass) and the biproduct is completely compostable!
Tumblr media
First layer of grass is added, due to the grass Al was cutting this is full of moss and it does slow the process down.
Now to add your specimen. For this we tried with Davey, an African Grey Parro.t who was kindly gifted to us.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now cover with more grass and add water.
Tumblr media
Just over 2 weeks later and the beak sheaths are removed, we dont want these to decay so they are cleaned and stored for later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Time for a grass change. Add fresh grass when the grass starts going a dull colour and again, add more water, especially if its been dry for a while.
Tumblr media
Four months after we began, Davey is complete. After a couple of months in the rot box, and the rest in marceration and peroxide that is.
Its not the quickest process, by any means but we did start feather and all and didnt change the grass very often. Davey was a big bird and was partially mummifed when we got him so it was a good challenge to start with.
Hopefully we'll try again in the spring and itll be quicker and easier next time. Skinning would be advisable too.

I Wonder If They Taste The Ocean
A variety of snippets from one League Bor'duns life, from ages 7 to 21.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At first, there was nothing.
And then, the sky fell.
It came quickly, without warning, all at once. The ground all around them- the ceiling, the floor, the walls, oh god the support beams- trembled with a fervour that they had never thought possible.
League is nine years old when they learn the Dwarven word for 'Cave-in'.
Screams echoed throughout the mountain, carried by the long, snaking tunnels dug through it. Footsteps- heavy, clunky, Dwarvish- sped towards their hiding spot. Three Dwarves rounded the corner- Althea Strongarm, Brav Kingley, and Julio Garngerra, three of Leagues primary caretakers. The three of them nearly ran straight past the small crook in the wall, but at the last moment Althea looked back. In hindsight, League knew she was just checking to see how close the cave-in was, but they liked to think she could sense them there.
Althea skidded to a halt, back-tracking a bit and kneeling down next to their hidey-hole. It wasnt much- a small crevice in the wall just large enough for them to squeeze into- but in situations like these they wouldnt have anything else.
League, small and bright eyed, stared back at her from the crack. Their hair was a raging mess, betraying just how much stress they felt.
'League, ongra. Voth vurthurkon fjert, mju (League, please. We must leave, now)' She whispered, grabbing them by the scruff of their neck and dragging them out into the open.
'Atur! Atur atur atur! Han's tokir inni thar! (No! No no no! He's still down there!)' They wailed, wriggling around until they were out of her grip.
Fast as a jackrabbit, they took off down the tunnel. Their legs trembled as they ran, both out of nerves and from the impending collapse.
They had to find him. They had to find him. There was no world that they could live in where he wasnt at their side. Their fingers itched with magic, desperate to blast straight through the walls to find him.
The walls had other plans, though.
They started coming down.
Their footsteps were drowned out by the wave of crashing stone bearing down towards them. For a few seconds it was just noise, but then they saw it. It cascaded towards them from the end of the tunnel, rock and wood smashing and splintering upon impact with the floor. They quickly scanned the rest of the hallway, desperately searching for- aha!
In between them and the wave of stone, a small blue creature sat wriggling in the hallway. Its head perked up as League approached, and a tiny black tongue shot out of its mouth in greeting.
Zlavurm. Zlavurm. Zlavurm
League dove, scraping their elbows and knees as they skidded across the ground. Muffin curled around their hand, hissing in delight. They cooed, rubbing a finger down his back in comfort.
Snake. Snake. Snake.
The world shook. League arched their back, tucking Muffin below them in an attempt to protect him.
The world shook, and the sky fell.
A scream echoed through the mines as League Bor'dun was buried alive.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'Tanook ul'mubar, League! Usstan ssrig'luin ulu xun nindol! (Quit moving, League! I need to do this!') The doctor hissed, her ears twitching in frustration.
League is twelve years old when they learn the Undercommon word for 'Brace'
The doctor was nice, nice enough atleast, but unused to dealing with unruly twelve-year-old Genasi. League wriggled as she slipped the braces onto their arms, expertly adjusting them until they fit perfectly.
It had been three years since multiple nerves were severed in both of their arms. It had been two years since their caregivers saved enough money to get their problem diagnosed. Now, three years after the cave-in, they finally had some help.
League tentatively extended their arms, hands clenching in the air, over and over. The braces themselves were simple; dark metal with a circular joint plate, connected with thin, sturdy strips that kept everything snug. As they moved, small arcane runes lit up on the joint plate.
It felt.... smooth. Like moving before the accident felt. Their arms didnt feel quite as heavy, quite as weak, quite as frail. Their fingers weren't as stiff anymore, and their wrist could actually turn properly.
As they held out their arms in wonder, the Drow doctor chuckled.
'De' heen, nind orn inbal tlu aszid zil dos knan, jhal nind orn tlu bwael whol nin! (Of course, they will have to be adjusted as you grow, but they will be good for now!)' She murmured, checking one last time that the braces were on tight. Satisfied, she gave them a pat on the back and retreated to her desk.
'ᚫᛋᚦᛞᚢ ᛇᚩᚪ! (Thank you!)' League chirped, Primordial rolling fluidly off their tongue. They launched off the exam table, and with a breathy goodbye burst out of the exam room.
Althea startled as they came careening out, excitedly babbling about their new braces. She smiled, and if that smile had a tinge of bitterness to it, she wouldn't tell. League had a long journey ahead of them, and she knew this was only the start.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
17 was not a good year for League.
League is 17 years old when they learn the Primordial word for Idiot Dead Beat Fucking Dad
17 also happened to be the year that League was finally told about their father. Their father, the powerful elemental Genie of the West Seas. Their father, the man that abandoned them with a bunch of Dwarven strangers.
They weren't upset, though. Not at all.
That's why they weren't sitting at the bottom of the river(their river. its theirs), not crying their eyes out, and definitely not thinking about the family they could have had.
How do you mourn for someone who was never really there? How do you mourn when they’re not really gone?
(you dont. you cant. how could you? they're not gone. they're not coming back)
Their mouth burned when they spoke Primordial. They'd known it since they were born, an inherent skill from their heritage (its important, they knew. they wanted to rip it out of their throat)
Their fingers itched when they casted their blood magic. The water parted around their fingers the same as it ever did, but it felt wrong (it will never feel right. did it ever?)
Their gills screamed, their hair tangled, their fins ached and stabbed. Their body tore itself anew (grief does that to a person. sharp fingernails and a deep hatred do as well)
They spent every single moment possible out of the water. The water was their father, the water was their past, the water was their blood. The water was their betrayal. It had been just their luck that their braces needed to be waterproofed again- it had given them a couple days of excuses.
They couldn't stay out of the water forever, though, no Water Genasi can. Their skin had begun to crack, their lungs felt itchy, their hair had started to deteriorate.
One can only keep themself from their nature for so long.
They were not crying at the bottom of the river during their first dip into the water in weeks.
Primordial is a brutal language, grunts and snarls and rough sounds. Primordial also has many, many swears in it.
League finally found the time to practice those words.
ᚻᚪᚸᚢ. ᚠᛋᚱᚫ. ᚦᚠᚠ. ᚣᚱᚫᚸᛋ. ᛉᚩᚫᛋᛤᚳᚻᚪᚸᚢᛤᚳ.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'That'll be seven copper, love.'
Copper. The word for.... money? Yes, the smallest form of currency. Sjetej. Copper. God they hoped that translation was correct.
League slid over seven orange coins, and grabbed a bag of rations and alchemical supplies off the counter. The shopkeeper shifted, his eyes raking over their form slowly.
'Do you.... n-need something?' They stuttered, anxiety bubbling deep in their chest. The shopkeep leaned back, his arms crossed.
'You arent from around here, are you, water lad?' His voice was rough, deep and ragged in all the right places, and made them incredibly nervous.
'No, I am, uh...I am.....' They were blanking, fuck they were blanking. Why was Common such a hard system to learn? 'I... am...... Mountain... born? Mountain born. Dwarvish. From the.. North-West?'
The shopkeep hummed, digging for something underneath the counter. After a few seconds he stood back up, a small bag in his hands.
'Here. You look like you might need these.' He tossed the bag over to them, and they scrambled to catch it.
Inside was four small beads. Each one had a swirling gas within it, squirming and wriggling within their clear glass containers. League looked up, a small look of confusion on their face.
'Those,' the shopkeep leaned over the counter, his tusks shining in the sunlight, 'Are potion components. If you drop one in a base, itll turn the potion into a modified Comprehend Languages spell. Itll only be for one language, but itll help you understand the folks around here better.'
He smiled, and Leagues heart soared. His hair was soft, sorted into delicate braids that framed his face. His skin was a dark, smooth green, his eyes a beautiful dark brown. His clothes were simple, but they draped over his wide frame beautifully.
League is 21, and they have just left their mountain home for the first time.
League is 21 when they learn the Common word for Love.

🏠 (i imagine it being all messy lmao)
Tumblr media
🏠 - What does their living space look like?
ooon the contrary, you’d be quite surprised. i did do a post about this in the past, i think, regarding what sonic’s place looks like. but some aspects have changed since then but it still generally has the same layout?
so sonic and tails live together in green hill zone. there’s this decent, big sturdy tree they found among several other trees that they decided to construct into a tree house of sorts with a bit of a modern twist to it.
so imagine something like
Tumblr media
just with a tropical setting instead of a cabin aesthetic. it’s more like a hut, kinda.
anyway it’s relatively cozy, especially the den/livingroom area- which is actually nestled inside a hollow part of the tree. it’s got a real nice, tropical rainforest feel to it. its small but spacious, and the general area is decently hidden unless you really know what to look for. tails also set up a security system just in case, but honestly it’s one of the safest places you could be.
in terms of living conditions, there really isn’t a whole lot in the place? in fact i’d say the messiest part of the house would actually be tails room/lab/workshop to be honest. and they have a tiny bot that tails built which is basically a modified roomba with the personality of one of those ali vector robots and it basically helps maintain the place while they are away (and kinda works as an assistant for tails.)
but,, yeah sonic’s room is honestly really tidy because he keeps most things in his closet and doesn’t really have much else to keep in his room besides a bed, a nightstand, a dresser and his guitar. there might be some clothes left on the floor but eventually either sonic takes care if buzzert doesn’t get to it first lmao.
second messiest part of the house would probably be the den if only because thats usually where tails and sonic hang out if they’re just chilling & what not, playing videogames or watching tv or something lmao. but yeah.
this place kinda doubles as their base since tails set up so many systems and tricked the heck out of the place to make sure they’d be well protected and eggman wouldn’t discover them.
more under the cut + some diagrams to give a vague idea of what the layout is
so here’s the overall layout of the place (please excuse the shitty sketch lmao i am not an interior designer)
Tumblr media
couple things to note;
they use the balcony as their front door more often than not because tails can fly and sonic can run up walls/platforms and its easy to access if you have special powers so, yeah
which is funny because it’s not technically their front door, its just a balcony/platform. their front door is really that secret entrance you see but they like never use it honestly akfjhfgh. that’ll be the one a normal person would probably use
in the den there’s two couches that kinda face eachother and create this little lounging space and they have a big flat screen + rad gaming & movie set up in there which is the main source of entertainment if theyre hanging out. but there’s also some cupboards and stuff for various toiletries and housing items and what have you.
tails’ workshop has two different levels. upstairs (which connects to the bridge to the rest of the place) is the lab for researching/programming/what have you, downstairs is the workshop for building stuff.
secondly, here’s what sonic’s room looks like specifically in terms of layout
Tumblr media
his bed is a modified hammock. it rests at about waist level, like any other bed and is lined with a lot of plush padding & pillows and kinda gently slopes in towards the center (esp if he’s laying down in it). it’s actually really comfortable and ideal, almost like a little nest.
it sits next to a window that he typically leaves open because he loves feeling the breeze brush through his room and listening to the night sounds of green hill. its usually very peaceful. even during the day. (unless of course there’s a storm or something lmao.)
next to his bed is just a simple little night stand that has some discarded stuff on it, like a water bottle and maybe some snack wrappers or fliers he’s collected on his travels that advertise events around the world to check out. there’s also a lamp, and he usually sets his phone on it too.
the dresser is kinda where he stuffs what clothes he does have. there’s really not a whole lot in there but yeah there’s some things. whats more prominent is that there’s a few picture frames sitting ontop the dresser one of him and tails, one of him, tails, knuckles and amy, and then an older one of his family back on christmas island before jules passed away.
sonic keeps basically everything else in his closet. though recently he’s taken his guitar out and has it sitting out in the open now so that it’ll remind him to use it more often these days.
there’s definitely some plants in his room too, because he wanted to maintain that nature aesthetic. he’s got some flowers & vine plants growing in there, the vine plants’ pots hang from the ceiling and their tendrils grow along the ceiling and along the walls a little bit.
yeah i think that’s basically it, if i think of any more things i’ll probably add it to this post later but yeah thats what sonic’s living conditions are like. besides, still having nomadic tendencies and sleeping in random spots where-ever when he’s not here.

IKEA Days
The group headed for the door.
She paused, heading for the living room to dig out her keys and nab her real clothes. “Hey, you boys can start the car, I need to change real quick.” The keys were pressed into the hands of whoever was closest before dashing off to get ready. Papyrus gasped, practically exploding with excitement at being entrusted with the keys. The group headed out. “we’re just starting the car, not driving it,” Papyrus reminded them.
Once she had a bra on again and she’d smoothed out her hair as much as possible, Shannon rejoined the boys outside. “So where to first?” “PAPYRUS MENTIONED A PLACE CALLED IKEA THAT SELLS FURNITURE PUZZLES!” Sans exclaimed eagerly. "Yep, it sure does." This would be fine, right? She'd put together IKEA furniture before. It couldn't be that bad. "Alright. Figure out where you're all sitting and hop in, I'll drive." The lazy Papyrus settled into the back while the other Papyrus and Sans engaged in a staring contest. Sans looked at them from the front seat. “that seems intense.” Papyrus whipped to look at him. “SANS! WHEN DID YOU GET HERE?” "Well. Shotgun it is. Hope you can navigate well, Sans," Shannon shot over at him with a smile. "Middle row or back row, you two, we have places to be." The shocked pair clambered into the back and settled down. Sans chuckled. “I’m a great guide.” "Alrighty, guide us safely to the mystical land of IKEA, my greatest guide." Shannon pulled out of the driveway and headed towards the city, flipping on the radio and offering out an AUX cord. "Any of you have musical preference?" “better than girl guides,” Sans joked. He pulled out the map. “OH! I LIKE FAST MUSIC!” Papyrus volunteered. “BATTLE MUSIC!” Sans added. “how about swing?” Papyrus asked. "I'm going to pretend you mean the Canadian version of Girl Scouts and spare you from my fist in your face," she smiled sweetly, then tossed the cord back towards the middle console. "I like it all, take turns." Shannon suddenly felt like she was thirteen again and helping take care of too many children at once. Sans blinked. “girl scouts? not girl guides?” So many jokes he’d have to redo. Papyrus took the cord first and blasted out  Everything is Awesome. "That what we call it where I'm from." Shannon raised a brow at the music, but didn't take back her cord and tapped her finger along the wheel in time when she found the beat. Sans directed Shannon along as Papyrus took over and put on Sing Sing by Benny Goodman. Her tapping switched immediately to the old fingerings she remembered on the tenor. "Whoever picked this wins definite brownie points," Shannon shouted back towards the boys. Papyrus grinned. “will hold you to that honey.” She grinned towards her rear view mirror and felt a little remorse when they pulled up to the IKEA. It was fun getting to know their music tastes, in her opinion. "Okay, so this place is easy to get lost in. Nobody wander off," Shannon stressed, pointing at Sans and Sans. "You especially. I could spot the others from a mile away, but I'd lose you two forever." “got it. no wondering.” “SANS! SHE SAID NO WANDERING!” “right. no wondering about wandering.” “SANS!” “i’ll just have to wander on wondering.” Papyrus screeched in anguish, the relaxed Papyrus chuckling while the energetic Sans looked torn. Shannon stared blankly at the exchange. "...I didn't get enough sleep for this. Sans, you stay with me." She took his hand in hers and held on tight. "Is there anyone else I need to physically hold on to?" Sans looked at her holding his right hand. “something’s right.” Papyrus looked like he was fighting the urge to kill his brother. The other Sans looked pained at that one himself. The sweatshirt Papyrus slumped over to Shannon’s other side. “i don’t want to get left behind.” At first her cheeks flushed. Then the word play hit her and she tipped her head back and groaned, slipping a hand into Papyrus' anyway. "You two are terrible. Come on, let's go get some furniture." She dragged the group inside and asked where they wanted to begin. "What do we need to get first?" “BEDS FOR EVERYONE,” Papyrus stated. "So we need two beds, I'm assuming the beds you've already got at home are still in tact," Shannon nodded. "So we are going to 'bedroom', follow me." The group traveled through, the occasional customer and employee watching them curiously. Monsters were still an oddity with how rare they were.
“HOW ABOUT THIS ONE?” Sans suggested, pointing to a bed that looked really hard to assemble. “why don’t we test it,” Sans joked. "It looks nice. Let's see." Her hand left Sans' for exactly three seconds to test the bed's sturdiness, and there he went. She grabbed for him immediately. "Whoa, hey, no wandering off. You already have a bed, mister, don't make me pull a Girlfriend Move and have you keep your hands in my pockets," she threatened with a glare. Sans chuckled. “worth a try.” Sans examined the bed. “IT LOOKS STURDY.” Papyrus hummed resting his head on Shannon. “looks good.” "Why don't you test it out, Sans?" She looked to the skeleton in her grasp and squeezed slightly. "Not you. You stay here." “gonna leave me sans bed?” Sans face palmed. “THAT IS MY NAME AS WELL,” he complained. He sat on the bed and bounced slightly. “IT’S COMFY!” Shannon smiled towards the energetic Sans in need of a bed and let go just long enough to give a light smack to the back of the other Sans' head. "That's great! How about you, Papyrus, see anything you want to try?" Sans chuckled at the smack, only half heartedly even attempting to dodge. “I DO NOT NEED A BED! MY RACECAR BED IS VERY COOL AND SUITS ALL MY NEEDS!” Papyrus answered. “think she meant me,” the other Papyrus muttered awkwardly. He slouched down. "Yeah, I did mean this one," she clarified, jiggling Papyrus' hand in hers slightly with a hum. "This... Might get confusing if you boys are all going to stay together. Maybe we should come up with a naming system." Sans unfortunately lit up. “how about comic for me?” “WHAT? WHY?” Papyrus asked. “cause i’m comical.” Shannon bit back a laugh and looked at Papyrus and Sans' strained expressions. "Not that it isn't fitting, but let's choose something that won't give half the household an aneurysm, maybe." “I COULD BE GUARD!” Sans suggested brightly. “could just call me pal,” Papyrus suggested lazily. “PAPS! THAT’S NOT A PROPER NICKNAME!” "I mean, if you'd like that, little blue dude," she agreed before turning to address possibly the worst nickname she'd heard yet. "And that is just truly awful, orange, I'd mix you up with people in a heartbeat. No way." Sans blushed blue again, before quickly forcing his magic back. Why did he like the way that sounded? Papyrus chuckled looking down at his hoodie. “huh. orange works.”
“what about bill?” Sans suggested straight faced. Shannon took a look at 'Orange' and chuckled softly. "You know what, it's unique. It works." She eyed Sans suspiciously-- After that comic suggestion, there was no way this wasn't a trap. Somehow. "Bill sounds fine. If that's what you want."
“THAT’S VERY MATURE OF YOU,” Papyrus congratulated. Sans immediately started humming the Bill Nye theme song. Papyrus twitched. “NYEH!” It took every ounce of self control to snap her mouth shut and keep from chanting along. She twitched, before completely dissolving into giggles. Sans grinned widely, looking completely pleased with her response. Orange Papyrus snickered as well, while the other two looked simply exasperated by their lack of maturity. “HARD TO BELIEVE THEY’RE OLDER,” Sans commented. “Okay, so you’re officially forgiven for wandering off earlier,” Shannon gasped through her dying laughter. “Whew.” She shot a look at the skeletons still holding her hands and raised a brow. “Really? You two are older?” “yup.” Sans grinned at her. “YOU WOULD NEVER GUESS IT FROM HIS BEHAVIOR,” Papyrus pouted. Her eyes flitted between the sets of siblings curiously. “No, no, I see it. Me and my brother are the same way,” Shannon admitted with an amused sigh. “When I was in grade school I helped him with his high school homework.” Orange and Bill looked impressed, while Sans and Papyrus gasped in awe. They looked absolutely ecstatic. “WOWIE! YOU MUST BE BRILLIANT!” Papyrus cheered. “I BET YOU’RE GREAT AT PUZZLES!” Sans exclaimed. The praise made her want to sink into the mattress in front of them and never resurface, but puzzles? Shannon lit up. “I do like puzzles! Mysteries are my favorite, but I like all kinds!” she gushed excitedly, squeezing Bill and Orange’s hands. Orange happily squeezed her hand back. “IT’LL BE GREAT PUTTING THE BEDS TOGETHER,” Papyrus said happily. He and Sans walked over and picked up the huge boxes the beds came in. “I’m sure it will be,” she smiled before her entire expression froze at the sight. They were just picking up the beds, like they were nothing. “I... Wow, monsters sure are strong, huh. Do you— Do you two wanna set those down somewhere before we continue?” “WE CAN PUT IT IN OUR PHONES,” Papyrus answered. “BUT SHOULDN’T WE PAY FIRST?”
Shannon looked around to find the direction of the checkout before she paused, whirling back around to Papyrus. “Wait, phones? Do you have a QR scanner or something?”
“A WHAT?” Papyrus asked. “a qr scanner. handheld device that scans an item to help people buy it,” Bill answered. “NO, WE DON’T HAVE THAT. WE JUST STORE ITEMS DIRECTLY,” Sans said.
“What the hell does— What do you mean, you store items directly?” she asked with a nervous laugh. “Do you have like hammerspace in your cell phones?”
“basically,” Orange admitted. “DO HUMANS NOT HAVE THAT?” Sans asked. “HUMANS LACK A LOT OF BASICS,” Papyrus explained. “WE ARE WORKING TO HELP WITH THAT BUT IT IS SLOW.” “their science has stuff we didn’t know,” Bill pointed out.
Shannon took a minute to just stare at the ground, slightly agape. Actual endless space inventory was a thing to monsters, and also basic. “I...really need to learn more about monster magic,” she sighed softly, straightening up.
“WE CAN TEACH YOU!” Papyrus immediately volunteered.
“You know? I’d like that,” Shannon smiled. “But primary mission first— Let’s take these up to checkout to put on hold.”
The group walked to the front. Every single human they walked past, employee and customer, stopped and stared at the floating boxes following the skeletons.
Shannon leaned across the service counter to scribble her name on a piece of paper. “We’re buying these, but we have some more looking around to do,” she explained with a smile. The employee took their ticket without a word and Shannon moved the group away, reclaiming Bill and Orange’s hands. “So what else, boys?”
The bed boxes were put down and they continued in. “still need mattresses and blankets,” Orange noted.
“CLOTHES TOO,” Sans added. “IT’S BEEN WAY TOO LONG SINCE YOUR HOODIE WAS WASHED.” Orange shrugged lazily.
"Okay, so back to the bedroom. And we'll stop by a clothing store on the way home, if you'd like," Shannon offered, leading the way back to the right section. "There's actually a mall in the center of town."
“sounds good to me,” Bill said lazily. The group tested a few mattresses, Orange letting go to flop face first into one while Sans yelled at him for being lazy.
She grinned at Orange's behavior and followed suit, hopping down on the bed beside him. How could she pass up the chance to test out a mattress? "Oh, this one's a good one. Gives just a little, firm support."
“SHANNON! DON’T ENCOURAGE HIM!” Sans scolded. Papyrus picked up Bill where he had somehow managed to fall asleep while standing.
"How else would you test the mattress, little blue dude?" she shot back, lifting her head just enough to grin up at him.
“THAT-IT-“ Sans spluttered a little. His cheeks tinted faintly blue. “THAT NICKNAME IS LONGER THAN MY ACTUAL NAME!” He finally got out.
Her grin turned into a softer, sweet smile upon seeing Sans' reaction. "Yes it is, but you do know I'm talking to you," Shannon hummed in amusement. "Would you prefer little blue?"
His blush increased further and Papyrus laughed softly. Orange grinned. “yeah little bro. that work?”
"Little Blue?" she sang playfully. "I'm waiting on an answer here, it's rude to make a lady wait."
“IT’S FINE!” Blue ducked down, really embarrassed now. The nickname was awfully sweet. Papyrus walked over with Bill under his arms. “SO THIS MATTRESS GOOD?” Orange lazily have a thumbs up.
Shannon laughed and let him be before the poor thing died of blue face. "Okay, then let's get it for you," she said to Orange, offering out a hand to coax him up from the mattress. "And get off it so we can bring it home."
“you can bring me with the mattress,” Orange suggested. “PA-ORANGE!” Blue scolded.
"Orange." Shannon paused and instead of prying him from the bed, used her previously offered hand to try and tickle him from the bed. Her fingers danced along where his rib cage would be.
Orange jolted and rolled off the mattress to escape the tickles, nyeh hehing quietly. Blue grinned happily and grabbed the mattress with his magic.
"There we go, one upright skeleton," she said proudly, grinning. "I'm getting pretty good at wrangling you boys, you know? Might have to make it a full time job. Now, off to blankets!"
“THAT SOUNDS GREAT!” Papyrus exclaimed. “THEN YOU COULD BE WITH US ALL THE TIME!” Blue raced off to deposit the mattresses with the bed frames before coming back and picking out blankets. Blue picked out a blanket covered with racing comets and planets while Orange picked out a blanket with a spiral on it.
Shannon paused. It was definitely something for him to take it so literally. "I-- I'd really love to, big guy, but I have a job and bills to pay," she laughed, feeling her face redden. The blankets weren't what she would have expected for the brothers, though to be fair, they weren't very close yet. "I like them. Good choices, Blue, Orange. You two all set on bed stuff?"
Papyrus sagged. “OH. BUT WE CAN HANG OUT AFTER RIGHT?”
"We sure can," she promised with a reassuring pat on Papyrus' arm. “seems so,” Orange agreed. Blue looked around. “WHERE’S BILL?”
"Oh, shoot, I let go of him for one second--". Shannon looked around and retraced their steps for a good few minutes before sighing and taking in a deep breath. "Papyrus, forgive me for what I'm about to do. Ahem-- WHAT'S THE MATTER, BILL?"
His voice came from a bin full of pillows. “everything...everything is matter.” Papyrus stared at the bin as if it had betrayed him, his children, and everything he believed in. “except energy, of course.”
She grinned and marched over towards the stack of pillows to peer inside. "There's my little meme buddy. Come on, Bill, let's go. Sooner we get done with chores, the sooner you can take a real nap."
“pretty comfy here.” Contrary to his words he pushed himself up. Maybe working so long on the machine hadn’t been his best idea. He just really didn’t want to wake up to find things reset. There was a reason he mostly napped instead of sleeping through the night. Blue and Orange carried their blankets to add to their cargo. “just clothes now, right?” Orange asked.
A hand stretched out to help him from the bin. "Yeah, yeah, we'll make something just as comfy when I take you home," she promised. "And... Let's see, I think so? I'm just the valet here, boys." Blue and Papyrus carefully went over everything. “PILLOWS!” Papyrus exclaimed. “right here bro.” Bill slipped the pillows onto the pile and Papyrus grinned. “NOW WE’RE GOOD!” Blue announced. They paid, took out their phones-and somehow got it all in them.
"And there we go, all set!" Shannon just watched as the group made their purchases and the items literally disappeared into their phones-- It was hard not to stare. "Wow, you guys... Were not kidding. Okay, good to know."
“DO YOU WANT YOUR PHONE UPDATED?” Papyrus asked kindly as the group headed back to the car. This time Orange stole shotgun.
She unlocked the car with a little beep and slid into the driver's seat. "Thanks, Paps, but I don't think human technology is even capable of an upgrade that advanced," Shannon laughed softly. "You ready to be my first mate, Orange?" “aye aye captain,” Orange teased. Papyrus looked rather shocked. “DO YOU NEED A NEW PHONE THEN?” Blue asked in concern. "What? Oh, probably, but I hate the new phones. They're too big for my little baby hands," Shannon laughed, tossing back the AUX cord while she started up the engine. "Plus they're expensive, Blue, don't worry about it."
“YOU SURE?” Papyrus asked. “IT SEEMS RATHER REMISS TO LET YOU GO WITHOUT SUCH BASIC TECHNOLOGY.”
The car started off in the right direction at least, and Shannon smiled into her rearview mirror. "Don't worry about it, Papyrus, like I said-- It's very expensive. I don't really have the need or the money right now."
Orange carefully gave directions as they drove, far more precise than Bill had. “ALRIGHT.” Blue put on This is War by Thirty Seconds to Mars.
She was ever grateful for Orange's competent dictation. Driving to unfamiliar areas was a nightmare. "Interesting choice, Blue," Shannon hummed curiously, "Didn't peg you for this kinda guy." “IT’S GREAT!” Blue enthused. “THE PASSION! THE RHYTHM!”
"I'll have to introduce you to EDM some time," she smiled.
“SOUNDS GOOD,” Blue said happily. Bill accepted the aux cord and put on Saskatchewan Pirates. Shannon's eyebrows raised at the music choice, but she said nothing-- Some of her music choices were garbage. High quality garbage.
“MY TURN! NYEH!” Papyrus happily seized the aux cord. Can’t Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake played out, Papyrus and Blue dancing to it. "Oh, good one!" Her hands slapped at the wheel to the beat, head bobbing back and forth in lieu of actual dancing while driving. Shannon sang along to every word and grinned over at her first mate while paused at a stop light.
For just driving to get clothes it was fun.

I bought more stuffing for my gengar. Which i had to start over from scratch. 😭 the ball had air pockets I couldn't fix. So I made a new ball. Made a tight ball out of batting and then covered it in a later of stuffing for bulk and attachive-ness.
I made the legs. Which are 90% done. I have to condense the shit out of the heels cause they stick out too far. But then they should be ready for color. I started the tail. Once I add the ears itll be around a foot tall. 😋
One leg was being so fucking difficult. I had to sew it on before i could get it to cooperate. Sewing stuffing onto stuffing doesn't work well. 😶
I love the thing so flippin' much already 😖
I'm glad I had that batting. It makes a good base. And it's good for strengthening attachments. I used some strips to adhere the tail. Hopefully it'll be nice and sturdy and not fall off once it's done. If I'm not TOO attached...👀 I might send it to that art show. Let it be handled.
I dont know how many hours it took me but at least 2.5 movies worth. 😶
My arm is gonna fall off. That stabbing motion. For like 6 hours. (maybe 8?) My shoulder is killing me.
This hyper focus thing i get during projects. Its so painful afterwards. 😂 My foot was swollen to the point that it hurt to stand on it. My arm is going to be completely unusable tomorrow. I'm so stiff omfg
I forgot to take a wip pic OTL

Lifetime Pro Court Portable Basketball Hoops
Tumblr media
When it comes to quality and name-brands, a Lifetime Pro Court adjustable, portable basketball hoop is a proven series in the portable basketball hoop industry. Lifetime basketball makes a line of both in-ground and portable basketball goals that range in price from very affordable to professional-grade units.
They also make Mammoth systems, some of the best I've had the pleasure to try, and really impressive in durability and stature. Most families just want to have a good time with their kids, or to provide something for their young ones as they grow into the teen years.
This is where the Lifetime Pro Court adjustable basketball systems come in.
This line includes the Pro Court 1221, 1225, 1269 and 1270 all come with a 42 or 44-inch backboard in most cases, and all of them designed to provide most families an affordable, durable adjustable basketball goal designed for years of use.
On my street, nearly everyone has a Lifetime product including some users of the Mammoth basketball systems. What I see mostly, though, and remember playing on as a kid growing up on the West Coast are various Lifetime portable hoops.
With so many basketball goals to choose from, it just made sense to go back to basics and see why the Pro Court adjustable basketball goals were so much in demand. The more I looked, the more I could see a pattern:
The Pro Court basketball systems have a lot to offer for those looking for a simple good time, without needing to dig a hole and set a post in concrete (I can relate, I have enough to do, too).
Rather than just pick one, I figured I'd look at the four I can find on my street and it turns out that these four systems are also some of the big bestsellers for the company. Note: All four of the Lifetime Pro Court systems are adjustable.
In fact, the company was created in 1986 simply to create adjustable basketball systems and they do it very well. They're based out of South Ogden, Utah, in the US.
That's a common trait, and they are also very popular with parents of kids too old for the Little Tikes hoops, but not so old they need a professional-grade basketball goal. Rather than recommend just one, here is a comparison of all four models.
This way you can see which would suit your budget and needs, all are going to give years of service, but the 1221 and 1225 are more for younger kids in terms of durability (slam dunking not recommended by adults or larger teens).
Quick Assembly Tips:
When you buy a portable basketball goal, it's necessary to provide a counter-weight. This prevents tipping during play or storms, and the easiest way is to fill the base with water.
However doing this in cold areas may result in your base getting damaged as the water freezes and expands. An easy way to use sand is to buy sand bags and put them on top of the base, or to make a funnel out of a 2-liter bottle of soda to fill them.
The Pro Court 1221 Portable Basketball Hoop
This is the entry-level into the Pro Court models from Lifetime basketball. This model is perfect for those who have young ones in the range of 4-10, and the hoop will last about that long and sometimes longer, depending on the climate and sun damage over time.
Lifetimes 1221 model comes supplied with a perfectly-sized 44-inch backboard perfect for younger audiences and mild play. The backboard is designed to withstand the weather and years of use, and because of the wheels, this can be moved to a driveway or those who live in a court can use it there.
Our block has a number of wide turns and corner lots with bigger cul-de-sac like areas, so that's where these are typically set up for families to enjoy most of the year.
When summer comes along, this board is perfect for a friendly game of half-court b-ball, and it's great for holidays like Thanksgiving or Spring Break get-togethers (March Madness, anyone?).
Since it is lightweight, this portable basketball hoop can move anywhere the game needs to be played, like the backyard, or just to get out of the hot afternoon sun. Since it does adjust from 7-1/2 to 10-feet easily, it comes in handy for a range of players.
It's not recommended to slam dunk on a portable system of any sort, though unless you get something like the Spalding Beast (see our review). This is too lightweight for that.
This basketball hoop is made out of plastic, a high-density type that should last for years. It has a very durable construction, despite the plastic it is built to last. According to the company, it is designed to prevent chipping or cracking in the sun.
Since it will be used outdoors, it's also designed to withstand years of being in the sun, there's an ultra-violet protection for those worried it will easily fade: it won't.
The pole and harness that holds the backboard are all powder-coated, so the paint won't come off and rust and its steel, so you can bet you'll get more than your money's worth out of it.
No concrete just adjust the height and start playing.
The 1221 Pro Court is #1 In Amazon
This backboard is the most popular, best selling portable basketball system on Amazon. That’s saying a lot considering the history of Amazon and the number of choices people have. All that to say, this is a 4.5-star, great buy for those looking for a good time with the kids.

Customer Reviews
Richard Johnson from Walnut Creek, CA, says:
I was a bit skeptical at the price, but in the end, I am very happy
As for quality. It's just fine.
For little kids, I think this is perfect.
Christos E. Zagorianos from Cincinnati, Ohio, said:
There are some who will poo-poo any portable system. If you want professional quality backboard feel and quality, then.get a professional quality system but if you have kids under 12, and want something to play with, then this is great
Various other customer quotes:
This is a perfect purchase for a first basketball system.
Great for parents wanting to spend quality time with the kids at home, fantastic product.
It is very easy to assemble, and it has served perfectly for our family!
Pricing:
According to Lifetime, the 1221 normally is listed at $179.99, but you can save and pay less than $100 for it if you shop at the link below.
Let's take a look at the next in line, the Lifetime 1225 Pro Court, with a 44 backboard.
Lifetime 1225 Pro Court Hoop
Like the 1221, the 1225 model is adjustable in height, portable and very easy to use. Unpacking it and setting it up should take an hour or two, and most say it helps to have two adults to assemble it safely.
The 1225 Pro Court system is another highly-regarded portable hoop for those with younger kids, with an average customer review of 4.5 out of 5 stars. It's not meant to be slammed on repeatedly, or to be hung on like a professional rim on television. But for family fun, it's great for largely the same reasons of the 1221:
Portability
Easy to Set Up
Lightweight
Adjustable for Wide Use
Durable
Well-Constructed
This basketball goal also has a 44 backboard, but unlike the 1221 it is a shell-shaped backboard, otherwise called a bevel or fan. Some prefer the rectangular backboard, something to keep in mind.
The 1225 model has what Lifetime calls their, Impact Reactor Rebound backboard: a fancy name for a plastic that is designed to provide a good rebound to simulate glass.
During regular use, I cant say its glass but it sure does have a nice rebound for being plastic. Itll do for recreational games, and it offers 27-gallons in the base to either fill with sand (recommended for cold areas) or water. Just like the other model, this model will telescope and adjust in 6 stages at a time.
From 7-1/2 feet to 10 feet, like the 1221 so perfect for most occasions. Note if your kids are really young, they might need a light, youth-sized basketball so they can throw the ball into the basket.
For Young Kids:
Our 6 y/o son has no trouble using our friends Lifetime 1225 with a smaller ball, but the larger balls are harder to handle (this is true for the former model, too you'll need a junior-sized basketball).

1225 Hoop Customer Reviews
This is, according to most who have purchased it (wherever you look), considered a 4.5-star out of 5-star backboard and here is why
J. Matt Landrum from Mississippi said:
This basketball goal is a good value for the money. It is sturdy and relatively easy to put together
With nothing in the base, I can carry it. It also has wheels on the base for portability It was very easy to fill with a hose.
So far, the goal has stood up well to some rough play, including lots of dunks
nick202 says this about his Lifetime basketball goal experience:
If you’re looking for an economic hoop for the beginner basketball player buy this hoop.
The 1225 model is available for only $159.99, though the price is subject to change through Amazon, using this link you can check the current price:
Normally you can expect Amazon to have the lower price online, usually without needing to pay taxes (or shipping if you have an Amazon Prime account like we do, well worth it in the course of a year!).
The next in the Lifetime Pro Court portable series of basketball hoops is the 1269 this one currently offers the most savings of all of them (save up to 48% off the listed price!):
The 1269 Pro Court Hoop
This is a great-looking basketball hoop, my personal favorite in this lineup only because I like the acrylic boards more than the polyethylene but it depends on your use of the basketball hoop and how serious you play your game. Like the others, its still not recommended for hanging off the rim or slam dunks, but this one takes a lot more abuse.
I have daughters as well as sons, of all ages both types of backboard are equally fun to play with, but the style of this one looks more real in terms of color scheme that you would expect from a basketball hoop. Minor point, to be sure it all depends on your preference.
Backboard is 44-inches Acrylic Fusion
Backboard Resembles Glass
Screen-Print Graphics Are Protected With UV-Protection, No-Fade
Similar Rim To NBA
Other than that, the 1269 is a great-looking, rectangular-backboard, adjustable and portable basketball system. Like the other two hoops, it is easy to assemble and fill with either sand or water for a counter-weight effect.
It is still not advised to slam dunk, but personally I have seen my neighbors ignore this rule (I don’t advise it personally, Im just observing). It seems to withstand a lot more abuse, possibly because of the acrylic fusion backboard.
What the difference is between the 1269 and the 1225 is in the shape and construction of the backboard, this one does resemble glass though you can tell its acrylic still: I like this model myself. Here's what other customers have said
A reader identified as trebe says this deserves a 5-star rating because:
This basketball goal and base by Lifetime is economical, relatively simple to put together, and pretty sturdy. The instructions are easy to follow one adult with moderate strength and weight, exercising care, can safely get the job done
George Burton of Massachusetts gave this a 5.0 out of 5 stars because:
This was a gift for my daughter, who enjoys shooting hoops but is not a serious player
This is my first portable basketball goal, so I was curious about how sturdy it would be but it doesn't wobble or move at all when you slam the ball into it so I'm quite pleased with it.
It is a great hoop, I've used it myself in a number of games during weekends with neighbors and their kids, perfect for outdoor fun!
The 1269 Pro Court Portable basketball hoop is normally marked at just under $300 (typically its listed for $199.99, through our local stores are charging even more than that). This one is being sold on Amazon for only $156.99 no tax in most states, and free shipping with a Prime account!
That’s a great value.
For the unreal savings and the very solid quality and look of this backboard, this is my personal favorite in this line its much more real-life looking than the others with the colors and style, and I love the acrylic board.
Amazon does change their prices time to time, so
Besides the look of the rim and backboard, I just like getting more value for my money but dont rule out this last one in Lifetimes Pro Court lineup:
The Lifetime 1270
This one is very similar to the other three in this series of basketball hoops: it is adjustable in height in 6-inch increments, it can be used up to 10 feet tall, very portable
So what's the key differences? Well besides being the top of the line in this series, you still do save money when buying from Amazon.
More on that at bottom but the real difference is the backboard size. The 1270 has a 42 backboard. So it is slightly smaller than the others, but no less a quality product for all that.
The base is on wheels like the others, as you can see in the picture here it can be moved pretty easily with tipping it just right. This is perfect for getting out of the hot sun or storing it out of sight for long winters. Our neighborhood snows, so that's just what our neighbors do in the late fall.
The 1270 uses Lifetimes Fusion backboard, with some nice graphics that are also protected from fading in the sun. This telescoping pole is a bit easier than the others (except the 1269 is also easy to adjust) no tools needed for that.
The pole itself is constructed out of steel that has a protective powder coating that won't chip or rust, its very durable, in fact. There is one of my neighbors who has this model I think he wanted to go with an in-ground but this was a cheap alternative for him.
I haven't heard a single complaint out of him, and in fact his hoop is the most widely-used on the street for rigorous games. This backboard, as you can see, is black and bluish-silver, it looks great (I still prefer the traditional colors, but that's not an issue).
42 W x 30 H Acrylic Backboard
Rim Is Black Classic Rim of 5/8in Solid Steel
Pole is in 3 Pieces, 2-3/4 Round Powder-Coated Steel
Height Adjusts Telescopically from 7-1/2 10 By Hand
Base is 27-gallons, Easy Fill With Sand or Water
Not substantial differences in terms of the mechanics or basic features but the backboard dimensions and construction. The telescoping feature is much like the 1269 version.

Horror Paper Models
Doing horror paper models has become a HUGE hobby of mine. Im constantly googling different templates for different characters to do. Ill turn on a good horror movie and work on paper models for a couple hours. Its so fun. So what ive done for you today is, tried to find all the websites for the paper models ive already done, and im going to give you a few tips. 1. Print the template out onto card stock. Regular printer paper is not sturdy enough for these projects. Card stock is thicker, and once your model is put together, it will stand up very easily. 2. Make sure you have plenty of colored ink cartridges. These models can take up A LOT of ink. [especially the houses.] To do all the models pictured below, it took 2 colored, and 1 black ink cartridges. Just pay attention to how much ink you have left, so you dont end up with faded pages, and then you wont have to reprint them.   3. White Elmers craft glue works just fine. But you could also use glue sticks or double sided tape. Just remember when using the bottled Elmers glue, a little goes a long way. You dont want to get the paper too wet from the glue, otherwise itll rip or the ink will bleed. 4. Speaking of bleeding ink, since these models take up SO much ink, i do notice there is a lot of excess ink on the paper. What i did personally, was let them sit for an hour after printing, and then took DRY paper towels, and dabbed them. But everyones printer is different, so it may not happen to yours. 5. You will need very sharp scissors and different sized xacto knives. You want your lines to be crisp and straight. And theres a lot of small details on some models, that only an xacto knife can get to. And you can have to cut slits, which is also something only an xacto knife can do. I started doing my paper model with just regular scissors, but quickly realized i needed good scissors, so i went and bought fabric scissors. Which are very sharp, because they obviously need to cut through fabric. I think thats all the tips i have for you. Its honestly very easy, and i dont want to make it seem like it isnt. I was very discouraged with the first paper model house i did, i was afraid i wasnt going to cut the pieces nicely or i wouldnt be able to figure out how to put it all together. But i did, and now im addicted. Down below there will be pictures of the paper models i have put together, and links for each artist/company that i got them from. [I should also mention, all of these downloads are FREE. But, some of the companies accept donations, so just keep that in mind.]

BJP's huge Win manner it'll also Inherit The Congress' Curse
New Post has been published on http://articlesworldbank.com/2017/02/24/bjps-huge-win-manner-itll-also-inherit-the-congress-curse/
BJP's huge Win manner it'll also Inherit The Congress' Curse
BJP’s huge Win manner it’ll also Inherit The Congress’ Curse At the start sight, the consequences from the local polls in Maharashtra – now not simply to the Brihanmumbai Municipal company, but those for nine other local governments – appears to be extra of the identical. The Bharatiya Janata Party celebration has executed well, if no longer as sweepingly as in 2014, and the Congress has continued its seemingly inexorable downward slide into the history.
however there may be a deeper significance here that’s really worth teasing out. And that is that these two things have indeed happened on the price of every other. essentially, the BJP is the new Congress. And, in many words, horrible as that is for the Congress, it is now not great news for the BJP either.
The BJP is the brand new Congress due to the fact its ideology – muscular, centralised Hindutva hypernationalism – has in large part replaced the Congress’ tender centrism because the dominant centralising pole of Indian politics. it’s miles the BJP and no longer the Congress this is now, to adopt Rahul Gandhi’s phrase, the “default running machine” of Indian politics. within the BMC election, the birthday party’s fantastic showing has come largely on the expense of the Gandhi Congress, which has dipped from being second with 50-plus seats within the remaining employer to being a very remote 0.33. For the ones uncomfortable with the regionalism and patronage mechanisms of the Shiv Sena, it is the BJP this is now the apparent choice and not the Congress. it is the BJP that is now the birthday party of the high command, of countrywide team spirit, of “Indian” in place of local affiliation. I may want to well argue over whether the BJP’s ruling ideology is in fact “Indian” or “countrywide” – however, from the factor of elections, it does not count if who wins that argument, most effective that sufficient voters see it because the dominant stress of national ideology these days.
Devendra fadnavis Devendra Fadnavis has delivered the best range of seats for the BJP in BMC polls elsewhere too, the BJP is replacing the Congress as the “country wide” pole of regional politics. In Odisha, some agree with that it is now the primary challenger to the Biju Janata Dal. In Bihar, the Gandhi Congress is in alliance with local events, and the BJP is on my own in competition – after it fought an election with out a nation-level figurehead. In Telangana, the BJP definitely believes that it, and now not the Congress, will provide the “countrywide” detail in local politics over the coming decades. and so forth.
there is area handiest for one country wide birthday party in India. It became long the Congress. Now it is the BJP. The BJP had lengthy been an agglomeration of local events in a few methods, with different priorities in unique states and sturdy satraps. that is slowly demise out, as an Indira-like high command exerts its will over the celebration organisation – a will rendered unchallengeable by way of the PM’s Indira-like connection with voters.
So how on earth could this be any other than remarkable news for the BJP? well the solution lies visible before you in these Maharashtra elections: it has carried out thoroughly, but not enough to win. The reality is that the “Congress-mukt Bharat” the celebration’s management ad infinitum promises will be the BJP’s worst nightmare. For the Congress, the “national” vote plus its vintage minority-Dalit-Brahmin coalition was once sufficient to win. but for the BJP, the “country wide” vote plus its personal core Hindutva vote may not be enough to win. we have seen this confirmed time and again in elections when the declining Gandhi Congress isn’t always the BJP’s important opponent.
Sanjay nirupam Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam presented to surrender after a poor performance in BMC polls And what is that essential opponent of the BJP, if no longer the Gandhi Congress? nicely, it is what the primary opponent of the Congress became earlier than the upward thrust of the BJP: sub-national political forces, starting from the benign to the fairly xenophobic. This centralising vs local pole is the vital division of Indian politics. Even new parties, which includes AAP, understand they should be a coalition of nearby forces first even if they have countrywide targets – see what it’s as much as in Punjab, wherein it’s far strolling a sincerely sub-nationalist campaign. do not forget additionally that during maximum places in which the BJP rose towards the Congress, in the north and the west and Karnataka, it did so basically as a kingdom-centric birthday celebration pushed strongly through local caste coalitions. Now the location is reversed: the BJP is the homogenising centralising force, and its number one opponent could be the neighborhood, deeply rooted celebration – inclusive of the Shiv Sena in Mumbai, the undisputed winner of this set of elections. The breakdown in relations among the Shiv Sena and the BJP isn’t a transitory phenomenon. even if the 2 events come collectively once more sometime in the future, the Shiv Sena can hardly ever settle for being a junior accomplice regionally. that is too much of a blow to neighborhood satisfaction. No local birthday party suffers being a junior partner to a national one in its own kingdom if it wants to live to tell the tale. (The NCP did for years, and it isn’t always surviving.) And if the BJP now represents the “national”, then the Shiv Sena, as the local Maharashtra consultant of sub-nationalism – of the most excessive type – can hardly ever do anything but, in the end, come to oppose the BJP. Such are the natural poles of Indian politics.
The Shiv Sena emerged as the single largest party in the BMC polls winning 84 seats
Uddhav thackeray The Shiv Sena emerged as the unmarried largest party in the BMC polls triumphing 84 seats So, the BJP can have a look at a rosy destiny wherein it is the new Congress. but it must also reckon with the reality that it will inherit the Congress’ curse: anti-Congressism turns into anti-BJPism. Disdain for centralisation, the power of the PM’s outsize persona, and worry of homogeneity and high instructions will pressure regional political events collectively just as competition to the Gandhi Congress did inside the beyond. And this will be worse for day after today’s BJP than yesterday’s Congress, due to the fact its base is simply not huge sufficient to triumph always if BJPism vs anti-BJPism becomes the new norm.
If the BJP is smart, it’ll comprehend that becoming the new Congress approach it’ll actually must turn out to be extra like the antique Congress: make bigger its sociological and ideological footprint, realize that on occasion a certain muddiness of ideology can permit disparate forces to stay together underneath the equal umbrella. If that happens, perhaps we’ll go back to a stable equilibrium of BJP and non-BJP governments, with the Gandhi Congress decreased to a chunk participant, robust in some states, once in a while helping different local forces. If the BJP is unable to extend its social coalition – nicely, it had higher revel in its success, due to the fact the chances are it may not closing for as lengthy because it would really like.
