The way I'm caring less and less about ST as a show every day is almost scary, considering not so long ago my blog was all about that.
But pretty much every character I even cared about has already died or has been butchered by bad/mediocre writing, and those that have already died, I don't think they plan on bringing them back, so my interest in s5 is now closer to zero than one.
And I think I'm actually quite okay with that.

i am genuinely disgusted by how some ppl talk about dd’s gf and his daughter btw. heres a reminder that these people are humans and are allowed to live. some ppl here are just parasocial freaks ✌️(ps this is not aimed at you at all, I’m just seeing a lot of nasty comments and I had to share)
The best thing to do is curate your experience. There are things I personally don't care for when it comes to David and Gillian and how their fans talk about them, so I (try to) stay away. The parasocial relationship exists on the other end of the extreme too.

whee-wowie-wee-wow, let me count the ways...😂😂😂
Please consider reblogging for a larger sample size
*For clarification for "rep" I just mean anything people look for representation. This could be a character who's neurodivergent/trans/gnc/person of color/etc.

I agree that "in Germany your boss legally has to provide you with work while you're at your job" is a bit funny considering the German stereotype. But I am really annoyed at people who act like this is some horrible hypercapitalist thing on that post about pushing people out of their jobs by just not giving them anything to do. When really it's very basic worker protection (within the context of German emplyment law.) Because under most circumstances you can't just be fired from your job. Your employer has to provide a reason for firing you if they want to get rid of you. You also have a right to specifially the work you were hired to do.
So your boss having to give you appropriate work makes illegal any of the following:
a) Making you clean toilets instead of (or in addition to) the clearly defined office job you agreed to do
b) Not giving you work and then firing you for not doing your work
c) Waiting for you to crack under the intense boredom of having to stay on one place with absolutely nothing to do for eight hours a day while your coworkers are roped into it to shun you (or hate you because for some reason you're the only one who doesn't have to do any work) until you quit "voluntarily"
or d) waiting for you to crack under the aformentioned pressure until you do what the people in the notes said they'd do, like watching movies or doing a second job instead which is something you then can be reprimanded and fired for

correct me if i’m wrong cos i don’t watch dune.. but i’ve seen people call paul a tragic character. except isn’t he a whole white coloniser tricking indigenous poc into believing he’s a prophet to serve his own interests? that’s inherently evil that cannot be a tragic character imo
so yes that is correct that is what happens. the tragedy is that he is a sixteen year old boy who gets a vision of this happening and he is TERRIFIED and absolutely does not want this to happen at all. He does not want the holy war he does not want to be the chosen one he initially very much wants to fight alongside the fremen as equals trying to liberate themselves from their current colonizer without becoming the messiah because they have common political cause.
And then the entire second half of the first book (and the second movie) are about the concessions he makes to himself bit by bit by bit (well it’s the only way to save his mom and sister. well it’s the only way to prevent nuclear war. well he does want his revenge. well maybe he IS special.) Until by the end he has lost 100% of his humanity, fully wants to be the messiah and is willing to manipulate people into thinking so, and has declared himself duke of arrakis in his father’s name and made a play for the imperial throne.
you’re right that it’s evil. the book and these movies agree with you. the tragedy is watching a child who desperately wanted to avoid this slowly completely lose himself to it anyways. i don’t think “tragic” and “evil” are inherently mutually exclusive.
