So idk if you read some of my svsss posts, I recommend reading those before this one, although you can read this and unsterstand so follow your heart.

Im a big MXTX fan, and I think svsss is one of the best pieces of literature ever written. One of the resons for it is bc of how it reflecs MXTX s own story.

In case you didnt read svsss, in it we have a character called Shang QingHua. He's and author, who had to change his story in order to gain money to survive. And to do so, what did he do?

In case you didnt know, sex scenes and explicit books have incresed in the book industry, and are one of the genres that has been popping this years. This makes total sence, as sex always sells. The sex industry is one who never falters and is always growing, bc although people can always doubt when spending money on things, human beings have proven to always be willing to spend money on sex.

I'm not making this up, and its not a phenomenon exclusive to the book industry. Look it up if u want to

Svsss is a transmigration story, where the protagonist is sent to a novel he has to fix after it was ruined bc the author had to adapt to the demands of fans in order to gain enough money to keep living.

And authors making changes to their stories, to appease fans, is nothing new. But we have to adress the implicantions of having those changes being about sex.

Idk if you noticed, svsss isnt big on sex scenes. After her first book though, MXTX writes mdzs. And that, thats a kinky book.

Like im sorry. Im sorry to all mdzs fans. But from all the mxtx works, that book has the most sexual scenes, the most weird ones, many with a tint of dubious consent. And oc those have a lot to do with the story characters. Like yeah, wangxian are like that. They need therapy, we know.

Mdzs is a much more sexual novel that svsss. In svsss, let me know if im wrong, but there just one sex scene lol, and is "papapa to save the world".

After this novel, mxtx publishes mdzs. And guess which novel made mxtx famous?

You can say mxtx was shy, or building herself as an author, and didnt add any sex scenes in svsss bc it was her first book and she was establishing herself. But, after mdzs, what did she do? What did se do in Heavily Officials Blessing?

No sex scenes. None. A pure love story. Hints of the act happening? Yes. The issue isnt with characters having sex or not. The issue is adding pornography to a novel thats not about that, to increase sells.

Im not saying what se did is wrong! Im glad she did. It was thanks to what she wrote in mdzs, that she became famous, and i got to know her work. She did what se had to do. Authors nowadays do what they have to do.

But she made a fkng novel about an author adding sex scenes to become famous, AND THEN SHE HAD TO DO IT.

Not a question just some thoughts. Sorry I’m spamming you so much. I just read your latest reading about the wanna be“tour” and all I can do is SMH. I think to some extent we saw this coming but they are dialing it up and expanding. Conscious humans would’ve called it quits by now. The Remembrance Day pap walk, Going to elementary schools, “donations”, writing letters like they are world leaders, etc. On one hand I can’t see this becoming much of a “thing”. I don’t think MM and Jarry will go on doing this for long unless they can get some Hollywood to pay attention and acknowledge them. I think another reason with the more public European Royals work so well in their media is because their countries are relatively small, like California and Texas are on the large side in comparison, am I right? So much can happen on one side of the country that I only hear of thanks to friends back in California. I can’t see these two visiting any farm in Montana as “royals” if ever. Yes Andrew and whoever else aren’t helping but these two made it exceptionally difficult. I think they would take pride in that especially publicly but only when they are praised for it. I think the Cambridge’s would have an easier time with moving on with their family, free to live as they please with no pressure to serve the public. Cathrine can be “lazy”, sleep in, & raise her kids and Wills is free to🖕 the paps who would surely still follow them. A La “where are they now”. The two that would have it the worse are the Harkles as they last bit of what they had to separate them from the rest of Hollywood is gone, no more Royal sheen but they don’t have much now. It would be stupid to use the titles after an abolished monarchy but they’d do it and expose themselves further.🖤 If you made it this far, one last thing. I got cut off while driving. That’s not unusual in this Miami traffic and usually i ignore it but with my mental state I couldn’t help but to compare. it was a packed road and I just really wanted to know where the heck the fire was. Why did this person need to rush so much on a busy road that no one else mattered even though we all have somewhere to go? That’s how I feel about the Harkles. What’s the point, where are they going? It sounds like you have a lot going on at the moment and it is all becoming a bit much to handle, as there is no relief anywhere. Is there something fun and relaxing that you can do for you sometime today, just to have a break from it all? I feel like you need to tune out for a bit and do something that is just for you.

I am so sorry that you suffered from narcissistic abuse, and so glad that you survived this. I think the Harkle shenanigans must hurt you in a more personal way than those of us who have never suffered under a narcissist. It is very hard to watch the Harkles seemingly get away with all their entitled abuse without any form of justice coming for them.

I think the Harkles are suffering. They usually are unable to get any sort of attention from the media unless they pay for it, and even then they don't trend - it is a 'blink and you miss it' situation. Look at what happened with Meghan's 40 for 40 program - it was dead in the water before the day was over, and she spent a fortune on PR for that. Compare that to the natural (not paid for) hype that surrounds anything that the BRF does, especially the Cambridges or HMTQ. That hype and attention is what Meghan wants, and she is not getting it.

What the Harkles are getting, and what they hate, is mockery. Look at the response to their Times 100 cover. Look at the comments on this pseudo-royal tour. They are a walking joke, and no narcissist would like that. They tried to cull all negative press while they were members of the BRF, were unsuccessful in stemming all of it, and now have no clout at all to stop any negative media attention. The Harkles may live in a delusion of success, but to the vast majority of people they are no more than very risible z-list celebrities.

The Harkles also have serious money troubles. They may be ignoring them, but those debts will have to be paid, one way or another.

What we are seeing now is the slow slide of the Harkles into obscurity, and their desperate attempts to reverse the process, which never work. They are no more popular and wanted now than they were at the time of Megxit, and in fact their popularity has declined since those days. They may look like they are winning, but it is all an illusion, caused by the amounts of money they are prepared to pay to give the illusion of wealth and star-quality celebrity. The paid for events happen, and then nothing. The paid for PR happens, and then nothing. Their slide downwards continues, and nothing that they do is reversing it.

Yes, at the moment they are on a high and beaming put of every report on their activities. Wait a week and then see where they are. This is like the Oprah interview all over again.

My next reading is going to be on the consequences of this pseudo-royal tour for the Harkles, so maybe there will be some justice for you there.

Edited to add: As for taking down the monarchy, I can't see that happening. For starters, the British government would have to put the matter to the people for a vote, and even if they are insane enough to do that, I can't see the British public voting to remove a beloved Queen because of the antics of two people who are despised that that country. The logistics of replacing the monarchy are also staggering - you have to rework the entire government of not just Great Britain, but of all the commonwealth realms who have HMTQ as Head of State, and that is not an easy task or a light undertaking. In addition, those Commonwealth Realms can keep HM as their head of state even if she is ejected by the British people (which would never happen, but I am stretching the bounds of probability here). After HMTQ comes Charles, who will have a short reign simply because of his age and health, and then William will be king, and he is also loved by the British public. I just can not see all that thrown away for the Harkles, who are rightly hated by the British public.

“Riou, Riou, Riou,”you said outloud,”hes....kind of cute isnt he?”,you said, looking down at dog in your lap who was flipped over, demanding belly rubs. “Aaaaa D/N, I think Im catching feelings. not serious though! I mean, we’ve never even held a conversation but...he is cute...and hot..ahhh!”,you covered your face. No no, it was only proof that he was way out of your league if you continued to list the good things about him. When it came to love, you definitely had the least bit of experience in that area. Besides, your cute dog came into your life and you just sort of got into your own routine. Love had become the last thing on your mind. However, you couldn’t stop yourself from being curious about him. “Well, we saw him yesterday. I say our chances might be low. I have to get ready for work anyway, I have the night shift,”you said towards your dog. You didnt mind the night shifts, but you would rather not have them. Your job was in a pinch though and you were simply too kind to say no. You were a waiter at a restaurant. The only thing that bothered you was coming home down the sketchy streets at night, but you always carried pepper spray with....and maybe a mini knife disguised as a pen. You always made it home safe though....until today. Everything was cleaned up at work and the guests were gone. Your boss offered a ride but you declined, saying your place wasn’t too far. Also you were considering his exhaustion. He was sweet, but you knew the night had been pretty busy and you were understaffed. So, you walked home yourself. You always had your headphones on, looking down at your phone. 5 minutes into your walk, you felt like you heard something, so you stopped and turned around. He closed his door and took off his jacket. What an eventful day. And he did that person seemed so shock he lived next to her? He was already aware of the fact, so why weren’t they. and how could they be so careless? This L/N-san was an interesting person. and their paths seemed to cross a lot. He also needed to get some sleep. First, he had to take a shower though. For the rest of the night though, he couldn’t get L/N out of his head. A bit irritated as to why, he forced himself to sleep sooner than expected.  The next day, he woke up and figured it was cleaning duty. He took out the trash first, opening the door and seeing L/N standing there. Riou blinked as she got scared and dropped her keys. “sorry for the scare,”he said and went to take out his trash. As he went back up to the apartment, he saw L/N and their dog, who went towards Riou. “Hes fine, I dont dislike dogs,”Riou said, bending down and giving him a couple of rubs. “I never asked his name.” he said, while petting him. “Ah, D/N, thats his name,”they responded. “I see, Im done with my pets,”he said as he stood up, looking as they laughed and said,”you dont really have to state that...but thanks, he loves them.” Riou nodded and headed back to his place. That person definitely made fun of him and his way of speaking, but he less upset, and more couldn’t stop thinking about their smile. Why was that? No...he should turn on some music, do his chores, workout, and forget about it. A couple of hours later, he sat down on the couch. His shirt was off and sweat was dripping down his body. Suddenly, his phone rang and he furrowed his brows,”how much?”,he asked. Dice responded over the phone,”how rude! I just miss your cooking, say say can I come over today please??,”he asked. Riou answered,”by all means. so, how much?” Dice chuckled,”okay you win, I’ll message you the amount.”

Once Dice showed up, Riou let him in,”eat first, money second,”he said, blinking as Dice hugged him. “Ri-chan I missed you so muchhh”,he said, moving his head in Riou’s chest. Riou couldn’t take the physical display of affections and took Dice off of him,”thanks, the food is ready.” Dice pouted as he mumbled,”not even an I miss you back.” They sat down at the table and Dice spoke,”soooo, whats going on with Doctor Isolation in these parts? anything new? give me something, you never have anything.” Riou sighed as he ate his food,”I rescued the person who lives next to me from the attacker on the news, will that suffice?”,he said. Dice’s eyes lit up,”Woah! How cool! were they cute?” Riou lowered his eyes,”why is that of any concern? you should just be glad theyre safe.” Dice smirked,”and...do you know their name?” “Yes, why?”,he answered.  “do you think theyre cute?”  “no comment.”

ralph, i love your blog and i agree with yr issues with the fandom, im at a point where you are the only 1d blog i follow. but you are super biased with louis. i love that kid and i dont think some things he posts go against who he is, but his account/him/whoever, is intentionally being aggravating, he constantly picks stupid fights publicly, its very annoying bc its useless. i hate my brother for doing this, i will certainly hate a celeb doing it even more. whats the point of it?

continuing my ideas abt louis' online persona being aggravating, im over 1d, i dont care much about the boys, but i still follow all of them on social media, all of them but louis, bc louis is super aggressive in a non pleasant way. i dont care for niall's music but he seems nice, i think lima is ridiculous but i find him amusing, harry is reserved but neutral. louis sounds like a bully and i dont see a point for it. is it to score cool points? its not working. 

you are clearly a fan of him, so i understand where you are coming from, and i agree with so much of what you say, i love his video interviews, his accent, the warmth you can feel out of him, and his intelligence. but his the opposite of that on his social media, its very off putting., like maybe reading books isnt equivalent with being intelligent but actively pushing the image that he hates reading books sounds stupid.

Thanks anon - I’m glad you enjoy my blog. So I’m going to start with the latest tweet - and then move to Louis’ SM more generally.

I see the comment about the library very differently from most of my dash.  I don’t think a private library is the sign of someone who loves books, but as someone who wants a particular kind of status symbol.  People I know who love books (including those who have the money to organise their space as they choose) don’t have a library - they have bookshelves everywhere and piles of books by the bed.  I’ve never known anyone with a private library, but I think of them as class-signifiers.  They are a sign of wealth that dates back many generations, or alternatively a sign of new wealth that wants status symbols.  I know this is understood differently in America, where wanting to look wealthy is much less complicated.  But in the UK it’s one thing for a popstar from Doncaster to be rich - it’s another for him to be seen to want to be posh. There are all sorts of class lines and having a show library crosses them.

I would also push back a little bit against what you sai.  Do you really think it’s OK not to read? What are the implications of thinking something is OK, but that mentioning it is boasting that makes someone look bad? Doesn’t demanding that people be silent about something promote shame? I’m assuming you’re not from the UK (sorry if you’re wrong) and I get that the class connotations aren’t explicit in other contexts.  But even leaving that aside, if something is actually OK it has to be OK to talk about.

Onto Louis’ social media more generally.  So there have been specific things he posts that I really don’t like.  I hated the Ash London tweet. I hated the picture of the person in a shopping mall in Doncaster so much that it was a factor in my stopping posting for some time.  I don’t think in general I read it as aggressively as you do.  But a lot of it I could take or leave. 

But, outside of things that I actively hate, I don’t mind that I don’t like his social media. I think one of the reasons I don’t mind that I don’t particularly like him on twitter - is that I hate so much of twitter.  There are so many people who tweet in ways that irritate the shit out of me (random example - people who use a collective ‘you’ but aren’t addressing their followers).  Many to many communication is relatively new - and there’s so much that we haven’t figured out yet, or that people disagree on. I disagree with Louis over the responsibilities of people with large social media followings, but I disagree with a lot of people about that. Nobody’s quite figured out boundaries or codes of behaviour.  You see on tumblr all the time minor levels of hypocrisy on these questions.

I don’t follow him (or any other 1D members) on twitter.   I have very little invested in it. And I think that ultimately comes down to how I react to social media in general and twitter in particular.

The Elephant in the Room: Where Are All the Real Estate Notes!?

When BiggerPockets first reached out to me about two years ago to write a book on note investing, the note market wasnt like it is today. In fact, the economy wasnt like it is today. We werent quite in an upmarket yet, though signs of an upswing were rapidly approaching (growing construction starts, less foreclosures, etc.). And at the time, my company (then in its eighth year) was still going strong as a note seller. Selling notes, along with loss mitigation, was the core of our business (mainly second liens, but also some firsts as well). I had also been blogging for more than three years about real estate, and in my posts I had been consistently recommending one of my favorite niches to everyonenotes! Now, lets fast forward to today. Our business has grown, and we now favor first liens to second liens. Ive tried to expand my blogging to cover more than just notes by including all types of real estate investing. Oh, and the book is completedand were officially a month away from launching! I suppose we can also probably all agree, a lot in the world has changed since even 2016! Were in a different place than we were two years agoin more ways than one. But were also in a different market than the one we once knew. And this revelation, like most things, is something that only dawned on me quite recently. Around the beginning of the year, a forum post in the Tax Liens, Notes, Paper & Cashflow Discussion Forum caught my eye. The majority of responses, including my own, probably sum up the answer to the question posed by this article. But lets expand on that. The original poster was someone relatively new to the institutional note industry. His general feeling, in his words, was that it seemed like there was less inventory and more people chasing it. Now, this was something I kept hearing over and over again from note buyers and investors, and I wanted to give my take. I think thats the real question people are after here. Looking back at the forum, my answer was this: My company and I entered the space in an upmarket as well; the only difference being it was really just a matter of months before one of the biggest economic crashes ever. Fortunately, we were able to build and eventually thrive as a second-lien business in a down market because of that. The irony is, weve now grown enough in the time since the pendulum has swung the other way: weve bought more first- and second-lien product this year than the past few years combined. The rub to the retail institutional note buyer is, weve also sold less than ever. What youre describing when you talk about what you see right now is really just a factor of the marketplace. What do I mean by that? In some ways, its a simple supply-and-demand equation. With employment at an all time low, and the lack of underwriting for junior liens, its only natural to see a dip in supply of that particular type of product. But surely there is still product out there, right? Right. And the closer you get to the top of the chain of product, you see the same large funds, banks, and servicers. So why dont more assets trickle down? The answer again, lies in the characteristics of an upmarket. With notes being in direct correlation with property values, notes are worth more and more as the real estate market continues to rise. So of course these outfits are going to hold onto their product if it increases the value of their portfolio. But theres more to it than just money. So going back to my question in this post: on the institutional side, theres not much advantage to sell to the retail buyer for a variety of reasons. For example, many institutional funds can make more money either holding notes that are appreciating in value or selling notes in bulk to another bank where they can get things like NSO credits. Its not only about the money, but also the risk with compliance being what it is. Imagine you were a bankwhat would you do? Would you sell to a guy off the street who you didnt know from Adam? Or would you choose to hold assets that are gaining value and only sell in bulk to other reputable funds, non-profits, and banks that can purchase product in bulk from you? And these larger outfits that have the ability to purchase in bulk, they could obtain what are known as NSO (Neighborhood Stabilization Outcome) Credits, which could allow them to continue to qualify to purchase directly from government entities. I know, I know, youre not the bank. And hey, Im not either! But its important to put these things into perspective. People often ask me, Why arent you selling as many notes today? And like I said in my forum post, my new favorite reply is, Where were you five years ago? We sold everything we had! If youre going to buy in 2018 like you would in 2013, youre going to struggle to get the same type of product with higher prices, higher demand, and lower supply. Of course, there will always be some sort of institutional product out thereits just a matter of how much and when. But you cant just sit on your hands while you wait. Theres only one thing you can do in times like these, and thats adapt.

Listen to the Market To the point in my forum post, notes will never go away. In times like these, it goes to show how much the institutional note market is capital intensive and all about relationships. Theres still product out there to findwhether its different from the product youre accustomed to buying (or even if it requires you to buy it in new ways). For example, partnering with others to take down larger trades in order to cherry pick the assets youre looking for while selling off the rest. Keep in mind the note business isnt just limited to the institutional space. What I tried to express in my book, above all else, is that the note space is versatile, vast, and full of possibilities. As with any investment, you cant tell the market what you want it to do for you. You have to listen to the market and adapt to it. And the good news is you have options. Heres an Example Now what Im going to tell you next is a short little story that is one of my favorites about doing just that. I often tell investors this story when I speak. I tell it in the book (albeit in a different way), and Im going to tell it again here by quoting my post. Obviously I love this story! And I think by the end of it youll see why: Ive told this story before, and Ill probably tell it again. But around the time of the crash, I had a friend who didnt know what to do. He was struggling financially. His then-current buy-and-hold business model was no longer working. He just couldnt get much financing. So instead of remaining despondent, he decided to take a banker to lunch. What he was really doing wasnt, Hey, I have _____, will you lend me money on it? Instead, he took the approach of asking, What is it youre looking for? What is your bankor other banks you know oflending on? The banker responded: student housing and commercial multifamily. So my friend goes, Okay, and he began to adapt. He started by pounding the pavement for apartment and student-housing deals, reaching out to his network, and building his team. Pretty soon, he was raising private money for student-housing rentals and finding the remainder of traditional financing he needed pretty easily. That was 10 years ago. He now owns over $100 million in student- and commercial real estate, and makes a pretty penny in his salary raising capital as well. Lets take a lesson from my friend and go from there. With market time being quicker than ever, were switching back to a sellers market. The good news for us note investors whove been working for years in the business is that our portfolio valuation has never been higher! Even in my own personal portfolio, the notes I own are worth more than ever. Im getting cashed out more often (with more people refinancing as they gain equity in their homes). But the flip side isI still have to look for places to put my capital with fewer notes in the marketplace. Related:7 Common Challenges Real Estate Note Investors Face So what do I do? As I see the interest rates going up on my properties, Im starting to do something I was never a fan of in a down market: Im paying some mortgages down. Sometimes the best mortgage notes are the ones you already have. This is why I also just did 4 modifications from adjustable to fixed. I try not to limit myself to any one part of the industry. And I dont want you to either! Hopefully my upcoming book (and series of articles) will help illuminate new ways to look at your real estate and note investing strategies to create profitability from a new angle. So whether its using unsecured notes to buy properties, taking over a note (via subject-to), or partnering notes with commercial real estate, the skys the limit! My partners and I couldve tried to continue on like nothing had changed, but we chose to really dive head first into distressed, upside-down second mortgages. And people thought we were nuts! But hey, Im glad we didnt listen to them. Were still here, and were bigger than ever after years of forging our own path.
