My Reactions to WhatCulture Wrestling’s “20 INSANE Vince McMahon Stories Leaked By Secret WWE Source”
https://youtu.be/cFF6SrJEgDE
youtube
If you haven’t come across this video, grab a drink, relax in a comfy chair, and get ready to spit that drink all over your screen, because some of these stories in this video are truly terrible.
All set? Good! Let’s begin starting with 20! And warning, this about to be a loooong post.
#20. This makes me feel bad for the writers who do produce some good storylines and writing that get ignored because it doesn’t appeal to good ol’ Vince. Furthermore, it’s utter nonsense that it’s whatever Vince wants that goes. Like, should Vince have some say? Sure, he’s the owner of the company. But it shouldn’t just be up to him, because God knows he doesn’t have the viewer’s interests in mind when he’s approving a majority of the stuff that gets put on TV.
#19. Why am I not surprised that the B.S. Wild Card rule came about in such a fashion? It’s been a disaster since it was put into place and just prevents the unfeatured superstars on each roster from actually being used. For example, Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura were originally scheduled to be on a recent SmackDown Live, but it was bumped to being the dark match so that we could see more of Shane McMahon (the subject of a post that I need to make in the future).
#18. Again, feel a little bad for the creative team when they pitch something that may actually be good. Vince’s grasp over the group, as we all know, is making the product worse, and if the old bellend actually took a moment to consider the ideas thrown at him, maybe we’d get some quality television.
#17. Of course, another aspect that Vince totally ruins! I know the brand split is coming to an end (thanks ya damned Wild Card rule), but how are we honestly supposed to believe that the brands are different if so much stuff is so similar? I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir with such a question, but nevertheless. It makes matches like RAW vs SmackDown elimination matches at Survivor Series utterly pointless.
#16. To absolutely no one’s surprise, Vinny doesn’t watch NXT. Y’know what? That’s probably for the best; let Trips continue to oversee and put on excellent shows with the NXT brand(s). Otherwise, if Vinny Mac were to get his hands on this, we’d watch NXT and NXT UK, two of the few saving graces WWE has at this point, burn down in front of our very eyes.
#15. “VKM? Unaware? Who woulda thought, eh?” asked no one ever. I get it, he’s busy running a billion-dollar company, having meetings, working out, etc., but he can’t spare five minutes to check out what’s going on in the world today? Not even the wresting world that he wants to dominate? FFS, man! Hopefully the start of AEW TV will change that once they develop more and more of a following.
#14. I was actually unaware of this bit of information, and now that I know this I gotta say, much respect to Dana Brooke. I know I was negative about her when she first debuted on RAW, but this changes this. She deserves praise for putting in the hard work to become the best women’s wrestler she can be, but clearly Vince is the biggest roadblock to her showcasing her new skills.
#13. Not a big surprise. That’s all I’m going to say.
#12. The New Age Outlaws reunion? Probably not, but I would be fine with watching Road Dogg go to AEW. I’m sure he could do some incredible work behind the scenes in the promotion that he wouldn’t be able to do in WWE.
#11. So Vince loses interest easily... there’s a word for that, what is it again? Oh that’s right:
Tumblr media
#10. I’d love to see an absolute list of the people who are trying to get out of Dodge right now. The talent are unhappy and they have a right to be, as should the writers. Is the money really worth the frustration? Only time can tell.
#9. To quote Kanye West to repeat another point I made, “NO ONE MAN SHOULD HAVE ALL THAT POWER!” Things could have been much more solid for both brands if they had stuck with something and not changed it on the whims of a senile old man who finds humor in jokes for children.
#8. YOU’RE GODDAMN RIGHT HE IS! To no one’s surprise, the best thing on RAW every week is the brain child of Bray Wyatt, and this confirms for me that the Eater of Worlds and host of Firefly Fun House is a locker room leader.
#7. I honestly don’t know how to react to this one. Certainly weird, but I just... Why is she their boss? I know she’s Ultimate Warrior’s wife but like... ugh, moving on.
#6. New-found respect to Michael Cole who has probably had Vince barking B.S. in his ear for over a decade now. How the hell do you expect your commentators to do a quality job when you’re degrading them as their doing the job? It’s nonsense. Give them the points they need to make and let them go, they should be able to call the match just fine without the criticism.
#5. Bless you Sami for making this work.... BUT, if this is Vince talking through Sami Zayn, maybe you should use your power for good and make the proper changes! I know that ruins the point of Sami’s gimmick, but we all know what the real problem is, and it isn’t the WWE Universe (least not on a weekly basis).
#4. Bless you Neville/PAC for verbally bashing Vince on your way out of the company. He deserved so much better, as do many of the talented men and women still there. However, I’m glad he’s kicking ass in Dragon Gate and being the bastard we all know and... love? Hate? Tolerate?
#3. Of course the man behind little red carts, mannequin torture, and pooper scoopers is behind Ucey Hot. This feud could have been amazing, and I was looking forward to it at the beginning. But now it’s a mess because Vince has the humor of a 10 year old.
#2. This, by far, is the most disgusting of these 20 stories. Surprising? Absolutely not. Horrendous? You bet your ass! The man left Mexico to work for your company and this is how you treat him? He didn’t have to work for you, he coulda gone anywhere else! This is also evidence of Vince not watching NXT but I’m sure you, the reader, already could’ve guessed that.
And last but certainly not least, #1. Once again, to no one’s surprise but everyone’s displeasure. It’s a shame that this is the case because we all know how much of a good job Trips can do if he took control. But it’s very likely that Vinny Mac truly will die at his desk at WWE HQ before he ever lets anyone take control of his company, even if it means he’s ruining it in the process.

WWE Monday Night Raw 6/10/19 Review
We started with Seth Rollins coming out, a chair in his hand, to address his victory in Saudi Arabia. He very cockily talked about how no one in the WWE could beat him down and beat him. He talked about how happy he was to beat up Lesnar on friday, and Baron Corbin came out to interrupt him. Corbin was booed out of the building, and he couldn’t even get a word out. He said that the ref was the whole reason why he lost on Friday, which is fair enough. He said that for the rematch at stomping grounds, he gets to pick the ref. Rollins ran him down about how no one liked him, when Sami Zayn came out. He said that he was on team corbin, and he wants Rollins to drop the belt so that he goes back to being the old, down to earth Rollins. An interesting way to take this. Rollins then pulled the truth out of Zayn, who wanted to get a favor from Corbin if he won. Seth asked who would have Zayn’s back, and so Kevin Owens came out. Rollins then challenged Owens to a match in the main event. Rollins then stormed up the ramp, but the heels just let him by for some reason.
Grade: C-. I didn’t really care about this, it was a boring and convoluted way to set up the main event. The promo didn’t really do anything for me. Same way we always open Raw, so kinda lame.
Lars Sullivan was out next for a 3 on 1 handicap elimination match. Sullivan attacked before the bell. Kalisto was the first guy to try to take on Sullivan, who was eliminated right away with a freak accident. Then was Lince Durado, who was taken out with a powerbomb. Then he beat down Gran Metalik, even picking him up before the pin. He then walked to the outside, threw Kalisto onto a pinata and gave Metalik a freak accident, and lifted him up, walked back to the outside to throw Durado into the post headfirst, and then went up top to give Metalik a flying headbutt for the win.
Grade: B-. This is everything that the match in Saudi Arabia should’ve been. I don’t like that he didn’t use much of his moveset, just finishers, so that hurt it, but this is how you get a monster over. I don’t know why they didn’t do this in Saudi Arabia.
Backstage, R-Truth and Carmella ran away from people who wanted the 24/7 championship. They got in an elevator with a bunch of people, but there was no ref, so he couldn’t be pinned. Then the elevator got stuck. So R-Truth, Carmella, Cedric Alexander, EC3, Drake Maverick and Heath Slater were trapped together. Funny stuff actually, I was wondering when the whole “ref being present” thing would come up. I would’ve preferred if there was just a champion who used to beat the crap out of all referees so that he couldn’t lose the belt, but this was funny.
Then we had an interview from Becky Lynch and Lacey Evans. Lynch doesn’t want someone like Evans to be the champion. Evans wanted to be the champion. It wasn’t really much of anything. It was a pseudo promo for the tag match later.
Grade: F. This added nothing to the show and did nothing. It didn’t need to be here.
Backstage, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross were talking about how Cross wanted to be a tag team against the IIconics. Bliss said that she now has that tag match with Evans against the women’s champions, so she couldn’t this week. Bliss then told Cross that Bayley was a manipulative bitch, and was always mean to her and that she was just putting on a facade about being a nice girl, basically described herself. So she is clearly manipulating Cross. Finally, a story. I was worried that Bliss turned face.
Then we had Miz TV, with Samoa Joe as the guest. Joe said that he won his championship back by choking out Mysterio when he was relinquishing the title. Miz ran him down a bit by saying that Joe shouldn’t have threatened Mysterio’s family, and Joe said that there was no line he wouldn’t cross. Joe then seemed to threaten Miz’s family, when Braun Strowman came out. He challenged Joe, but then Bobby Lashley came out as well to challenge him. Ricochet was next, followed by Cesaro. Cesaro just sucker punched Ricochet, and then everyone in the ring started to brawl too. The faces all stood tall in the ring.
From there, we transitioned into a 6-man tag: Bobby Lashley, Cesaro and Samoa Joe vs. Ricochet, Miz and Braun Strowman. Miz was beaten down for most of this match. Ricochet was the hot tag, and he wrecked everyone on the heel team, and looked awesome doing it. After we came back from commercial, Ricochet countered a popup powerbomb into a spike rana which looked good. Miz looked pretty good in a hot tag of his own. Cesaro gave Miz a super long swing, to almost silence from the crowd, then locking in a sharpshooter, but Ricochet broke it up with a codebreaker. At one point, Joe ran out to break up a pin, but Braun caught him and nearly hit him with a running powerslam, so Joe booked it. Braun was going to chase him, but Lashley caught him with a spear. Ricochet then took out Lashley with a splash to the outside. The faces then won after Miz countered out of a neutralizer to hit a skullcrushing finale, and then tagged in Ricochet for the 630 senton. Cesaro looked to have a knee injury after the senton.
Grade: B-. Good closing stretch that put this in the positive for me, but otherwise pretty paint by numbers stuff. Seems like they are setting up Joe vs. Strowman, which sucks for Joe because he won’t win that match. Ricochet looked awesome, so I hope that he gets put in a program with Joe rather than Strowman, because those matches will be awesome.
Backstage, Corbin was interviewed about who he wanted as the guest referee, and Sami Zayn appraoched him about something. It was definitely the spot.
Then we had Becky Lynch and Bayley against Alexa Bliss and Lacey Evans. Bayley was the one that was worked over here, building to a hot tag with Lynch. There was one good point where Lynch went for a tag to Bayley with the ring completely cleared, and Evans charged in and tackled her back to her own corner, and I liked that kind of tag psychology. At another point, Lynch was chasing Evans around the ring, until Evans shoved Nikki Cross at Lynch. Lynch pushed Cross away, and got hit with a woman’s right. Evans then drilled Bayley with one as she tried to grab Evans. Bliss went for twisted bliss, but Bayley had the knees up. Evans then ran in, I guess she was legal, and hit women’s right to Bayley and pinned the champion.
Grade: C+. Just barely a C+, because I liked the exciting ending stretch. Also, Evans looked good to me here, which just shows that she is very inconsistent wrestler: good sometimes, terrible others. But this was a fine match, and Evans now should get a shot at the smackdown women’s championship too. That sucks, but it would make sense.
Backstage, Sami Zayn was talking to Shane McMahon about being the special guest ref for the main event. He wanted to audition for the spot in Corbin’s match, suggesting that he be the ref on the outside. Shane then suggested the same thing like it was his idea, and Sami said he was a genius. I like this, Shane is annoying, but he is supposed to be, and Sami is an awesome character.
Then Paul Heyman was out, and he claimed that Brock Lesnar didn’t cash in on Monday because he said that he could beat Rollins any day of the week. Heyman made it sound like Lesnar was a big victim here. In response to the attack at Super Showdown, Heyman refuses to say when they will cash in. That makes perfect sense. He then implies that Lesnar may be the ref during the universal championship match at stomping grounds. He also said that Lesnar will beat the living crap out of Rollins, and then take the title from him.
Grade: B. Good promo, as usual from Heyman. Problem was that the topic of the promo was something that should have been the case from the second that Lesnar won the briefcase. But he made a really good promo out of it.
Back in the elevator. Everyone was freaking out and arguing about getting out. EC3 said that if they don’t get out soon, he will have to start eating people. Truth had a cellphone, but no bars, which Cedric Alexander questioned because Truth is a rapper, and Truth said he changed providers. Drake Maverick said that he was getting married soon so he needed to get out. EC3 was pissed that he didn’t get an invitation to the wedding, and Maverick told him that he was the best man. Truth said that he didn’t want to leave, because he didn’t want to lose his championship, and that he was scared of everyone, referring to Maverick as Hornswoggle. Heath Slater started freaking out because he has kids and he needs to see them again. They started arguing and they cut away.
The IIconics were out next, for a promo. They talked about how they are fighting champions. They found a couple jobbers, and said they were the best in the world. They posed on top of one of the jobbers, and everyone on commentary were being funny because they didn’t care. Graves didn’t even make up facts about them. He just said that one of them was a descendant of los conquistadores, the alter egos of Edge and Christian.  They pinned a jobber after some move.
Grade: C+. Squash match that was inoffensive.
Back in the elevator, they all seemed to be getting along. This does not bode well.
Then we had Shane’s celebration for his win at Super Showdown. He and Drew McIntyre were out in cute matching leather jackets. He put himself over about how he beat Reigns. McIntyre then said that he would destroy Roman at Stomping grounds. They drank a bunch of champaign out of the world cup, which was a cool sight. Shane then brought the Revival out. He said that they were only invited to the party if they won the championship match.
Grade: C. As shane promos go, this was far from the worst. I loved him drinking out of the world cup, but again, this was pointless. The world cup was a good heel move though.
Then we went into the Raw Tag Team Championship match, The Usos vs. The Revival vs. Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins. Backstage, Hawkins and Ryder talked about how they were a cinderella story, but it isn’t midnight yet. The faces quickly got rid of the heels and faced off. Jimmy Uso had a good looking hot tag. Ryder was able to hit Jimmy with a rough ryder, but he had just tagged Jey in, so Jey showered everyone with superkicks. Jey then went for the splash, but was tagged out by Dawson right before he jumped. Jey hit the splash, only for Wilder to pull him off and Dawson get the pin for a shocking win.
Grade: B+. Good match, but it could’ve used a bit more time. Ryder and Hawkins are criminally underrated, and it really sucks that they lost the titles after not appearing on TV for weeks. But now the Revival have then, probably a ploy to get them to re sign with the company. But the match was pretty good, lots of action. I’d love to see a rematch where they had some more time. Match of the night here.
Backstage, Rollins was interviewed about Sami being the outside referee. He said that there are plenty of threats, but he is ready for all of them. Also, he called Charly Caruso chuck. So that was funny.
Back in the elevator, everyone was comforting Drake Maverick about his marriage, because he was having second thoughts. EC3 said true love is real, because he had been married 5 times. Truth said that if they weren’t always chasing him around, they would realize that they were more alike than they thought. They started to sing we are family, when the elevator door opened and the carnage continued.
Grade: A-. This was actually the best version of the 24/7 championship that we have seen. It was really funny, it was a gag that lasted the whole show, and while we didn’t have some title changes, we didn’t need to. Good stuff here, and it was really the highlight of Raw for me.
Into the firefly funhouse, Ramblin Rabbit told everyone that it was bad to eat your friends, like Mercy the vulture tried to do. Ramblin Rabbit then threatened to expose the funhouse, so Bray crushed him with a hammer, and he bled out. Bray then tasted his blood. Creepy, awesome.
And in the main event, we had Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins, with Sami Zayn as a referee on the outside. Sami made a big show of checking Rollins for weapons, loudly asking if he had a knife. Owens and Zayn were talking as he checked, such as Owens asking Zayn if he had a knife under the wrap on his ribs, and yelling at the other ref, saying that he never touched Owens like that. Rollins rolled up Owens for a visual pin, but Zayn was distracting the inside ref. Zayn then also stopped Rollins from attacking Owens while on the outside. Rollins also got cut right above his eyebrow. The two continously traded big kicks back and forth, and Rollins went for a frog splash, only for Zayn to run in to check on Owens and stopping the frog splash. After Seth through Owens out of the ring, he gave both Owens and Zayn a suicide dive, and hit Owens with a curb stomp. He was about to get the win, when Zayn pulled Nicolas’s dad out of the ring and tried to call for a DQ, and he eventually did so when Rollins put his hands on him again.
After the match, Rollins beat the crap out of Zayn, only for Corbin to run down and try to injure the ribs again. Corbin introduced a chair, but Rollins got a hold of it and beat down Sami with it. Giving him a curb stomp at the end.
Grade: B. Good match, lots of shanenigans. But they were fun, and Zayn and Owens together are always funny. Zayn was perfect in this smarmy role. They put on a pretty good match as well. Good main event, and it leaves a possible rematch open.
Overall Grade: C+
Pros: Heyman Promo; raw tag team championship match; firefly funhouse; elevator problems; main event
Cons: opening promo; lynch and evans promo; Shane o’mac promo

KO/Seth 5 and 9 for the ask game!
*cracks knuckles* You ready for this, Jenna?
5. Favorite canon moment of them?
*Heels hanging out backstage probably talking about the times they stabbed their best friend(s) in the back and just how great it is being total assholes*
Kevin: “You’re just really hurt that Triple H finally saw the light and realized there’s someone better. And that’s me.”
All the times they passive-aggressively, and sometimes just aggressively, argued about who was The Man (spoiler alert: it’s both of them).
That time Seth called Kevin a bad friend and Kevin called Seth a bad person. Hello, kettle. I’m pot. I just want you to know, you’re black.
ALL OF THEIR MATCHES ARE 7.5* AND DAVE MELTZER CAN FIGHT ME.
Does ROH count? Because - “Tyler! You won! No excuses. You…beat…me. But your blood…is in my blood now. My blood…is in your blood. I know…you’re a changed man.” - Kevin Steen, slaying me with his promos as usual.
Honorable mention: that one time Chris Jericho accidentally called Seth “Seth Owens.”
9. Favorite aspect of them/their relationship dynamics?
They’re so alike, and yet so different, and it makes for a really interesting potential dynamic. Their characters/storylines are parallel, and sometimes inverse. For one thing, Kevin Steen is very similar to Kevin Owens, and Tyler Black is very similar to Seth Rollins, and it’s easy to connect their characters as they are now to the characters they were in ROH/on the indie scene. Both of them were defined early by betrayal: Kevin betrayed his best friend, El Generico, and Tyler was betrayed by his pseudo-mentor, Jimmy Jacobs (in this case, they were opposite). Both of them were also part of a faction in ROH - Steen part of S.C.U.M, Tyler part of Age of the Fall, and both of them rose above these heel factions to become mega-babyfaces (in this case, they were parallel).
In WWE, both of them are again defined by betrayal. Seth Rollins turned his back on his business partners best friends, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose, and six months later Kevin turned his back on his best friend, Sami Zayn. In both cases, these betrayals led to them winning championships - Seth became WWE Champion, Kevin became NXT champion.
Seth falls in with Triple H, his new pseudo-mentor, who basically gave him the MITB briefcase, and therefore the championship, on a silver platter. Hunter eventually turns on Seth, and hands over to Kevin the Universal Championship on a silver platter. So Kevin becomes the golden boy Seth used to be. Seth even says that he believes Kevin’s just being manipulated by Hunter and Stephanie, the way he was (of course, this doesn’t stop him from wanting to kick Kevin’s ass, and they have their awesome and hilarious, if somewhat mishandled, feud). It’s kind of a shame they didn’t explore this similarity more, especially because it would have been interesting to see Seth realize that Kevin is, well, Kevin, and he probably had zero emotional attachment to The Authority and was using them as much as they were using him.
You can also draw a parallel between Seth’s relationship with Randy (maybe the Authority as a whole) and Kevin’s relationship with Jericho - both tentative alliances that were only ever going to end one way.
Up to this point their character arcs are almost directly parallel, but then things shift a bit. Both of them eventually make up with the best friends they betrayed, but it plays out totally differently - Seth turns face and redeems himself, winning back his brothers; Sami turns heel and joins Kevin, Kevin never apologizing or indicating he’s changed in any way. And in fact, while Seth maintained his friendship with his brothers, Kevin and Sami had their points when they seemed ready to implode, because their relationship wasn’t about trust and love anymore so much as it was about convenience. Sami was more than willing to stab Kevin in the back this time. Call it karma.
(Now, a direct parallel can be drawn here, as well. Dean turned on Seth, but they eventually circled back around to each other. Sami essentially turned on Kevin, but they circled back around to each other, too. But I’m pretending that Dean heel turn never happened, so, let’s just ignore that.)
And where are their characters at now? Seth’s a completely different person than he was in 2014 when he picked up that steel chair and used it on his brothers. Kevin? Not so much. Their characters have had very similar arcs, but have ended up in polar opposite places. It’s really interesting, and it would make for a really interesting relationship. I explored that somewhat in my fic “Show Your Wounds, I’m Bored With Mine,” ‘cause it’s just fascinating.
I am…so sorry for the essay, and hopefully this stayed coherent, lol. It’s late and I love them and I wanted to rant.ଘ(੭ˊ꒳ˋ)੭
Love! ❤❤

NXT to the Main Roster: A Haphazard Examination, Part 2 (2016)
Tumblr media
More wrestlers went from NXT to the main roster(s) in 2016 than in any other year, so I want to examine it separately in my ongoing question to determine whether getting a coveted spot on Raw or Smackdown (or a less coveted spot on 205 Live) likely means stagnation and disappointment. Again, the grades here are for the way these wrestlers have been presented to the WWE audience, not for the wrestlers themselves. Except, I guess, for the F handed out to Big Cass.
Sami Zayn
Call-up date: January 24. The perfect underdog babyface at the top of the card in NXT (a role they’re currently trying to give Johnny Gargano), Zayn has had a respectable but mostly unspectacular run on the big shows. While they were never going to build main event storylines around him the way NXT did, after his initial feud with eternal lifemate Kevin Owens, he kind of drifted around the middle of the pack without a clear character or motivation. Hampered by injuries, his heel turn was initially masterfully handled: by saving Kevin Owens from Shane McMahon, Zayn was, in the immediate aftermath, allowed to seem conflicted, uncertain, and anxious about what he’d done. It looked like there was going to be real character development, and then, in a few months, he was challenging Bobby Lashley to obstacle course races.
Grade: C
Eva Marie
Call-up date: March 28. WE DIDN’T DESERVE HER. She could have been a sensational, crowd-baiting heel, as she was LOATHED by the super nerds in the WWE audience, who hated that she couldn’t wrestle and was only getting pushed for her looks. I mean, the same was true of Lex Luger ZING. Anyway, it wasn’t too be, and we’re left to wonder what could have been.
Grade: F/Incomplete
Baron Corbin
Call-up date: April 3. Big Banter has grown into the role that is probably the top-dollar best he can hope for in the WWE: a sneering heel near the top of the midcard who can talk well and wrestle well. He’s a plug-and-play guy for babyfaces who are being kept on the stove while the main event picture sorts itself out, and he does great at it. I saw Baron Corbin wrestle Tommy Dreamer at an NXT show in Albany once and thought, “This guy suxxxx.” But he has proved me wrong! Good for Big Breakfast Constable Corbin.
Grade: B+
Enzo Amore
Call-up date: April 4. I’ll go on record as saying he was used well as the shitty heel champion in 205 Live. Everyone hated him, and that was his role. That was probably his ceiling: top hate figure on the ‘C’ show, but we’ll never know.
Grade: F/Incomplete
Big Cass
Call-up date: April 4. His attitude and behavior must have really been something for Vince McMahon, The Big Man Liker, to so quickly part with a big man who could talk and was at least more adept in the ring than, say, the Great Khali. After the split with Enzo, they didn’t really seem to know what they were doing with him, so I’m not entirely sure we missed out on a legendary career or anything.
Grade: F/Incomplete
Apollo Crews
Call-up date: April 4. This decision remains a head scratcher. Crews made his NXT TV debut on August 22, 2015, and in less than eight months, was debuting on Raw. Although he’s an incredibly talented wrestler, I don’t know that his NXT stint was quite the rocket to the top that would justify this. Since his debut, he’s been totally lost in the shuffle and without a discernible character. His most significant match to date was a losing bid for the Intercontinental championship against The Miz on an episode of Smackdown. The Titus Worldwide stuff has helped, but not much.
Grade: C-/D+
Aiden English
Call-up date: April 7. Rusev DAAAAYYYEH. If it weren’t for his alliance with Big Matchka, English would be staring down the barrel of a D+. Initially arrived on the main roster as a tag team with Simon Gotch, the two had an undistinguished run that included Smackdown tag title tournament losses to the Hype Bros and Breezango. Now that he’s the guy who stiffly raps before Rusev comes out, English is basking in his Mizdow Moment. When it ends, though, what will become of the Operatic Superstar?
Grade: C-
Simon Gotch
Call-up date: April 7. His gimmick had a lot of potential: the super old-timey wrestler in a postmodern, post-kayfabe world. It never really got off the ground, though, and while his team with Aiden English worked at Full Sail, Vince’s dim view of tag teams generally, plus the material they were given, meant it didn’t have much of a shot on the big stage. WWE let the trademark on his name expire, which tells you a lot.
Grade: F
Dana Brooke
Call-up date: May 9. After kind of a hot start that I’ve largely forgotten - she was heel Charlotte’s protege, remember? - she quickly settled into the rut of main roster women’s booking, which tends to consist of two women fighting over the title and then everyone else forming an amorphous backdrop, occasionally emerging for random six-person tags involving the main eventers. Dana did eliminate Kairi Sane at the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble, so that’s something, I guess. Since November, she’s been one of the few people in the company with a manager role, as an Alexandra York figure in Titus Worldwide.
Grade: C-
Mojo Rawley
Call-up date: July 24. Did you know Zack Ryder’s been in the WWE system since 2006? He’s incredible. He’s like one of those NBA guys who you see playing five minutes in a playoff game, years after you assumed they had retired. Anyway, Mojo Rawley. He’s done as well as he’s ever likely to do, destroying Ryder after a heel turn, feuding with No Way Jose, and no longer being hyped. His main roster run hasn’t been disappointing, largely because his NXT run was about the same thing, minus the heel turn.
Grade: C
Nia Jax
Call-up date: July 25. Rock’s cousin or no, she’s managed to remain above the midcard scrum in the women’s division by having a unique look, as the only credible monster in the locker room. She has the problem that all monsters have sooner or later, which is: what do they do after getting beaten? In her case, it was a clumsy face turn in a bullying-themed angle with Alexa Bliss that didn’t do much for either woman. Still, because of her size and ability, she’s always somewhere near the top of the card, something that’s unlikely to change.
Grade: B
Finn Bálor
Call-up date: July 25. To my mind, he’s one of the few wrestlers who’s been better served on the main roster than he was in NXT. He’s the longest-reigning NXT champion so far, but his tenure there seems largely forgettable apart from his Beast in the East match against Kevin Owens and the bloodbath against Samoa Joe at Takeover: Dallas. On the main roster, he’s regularly near the top of the card, with his painted demon character receiving the holy-shit treatment, as we saw at SummerSlam. He’s become one of their most recognizable stars and the company clearly loves him.
Grade: A
Alexa Bliss
Call-up date: July 26. One of the best examples I can think of that demonstrates how a turn can elevate a wrestler, she went from boring, sparkly cheerleader to the top woman in NXT by becoming a heel. Initially the manager of the lookalike midcard tag team of Make and Blurphy, it was clear from the start she was bound for greater things. She’s been the signal success story of the WWE System in developing stars, as opposed to repackaging stars from the indies, Japan, and Mexico: Bliss is, if not quite a mainstream star, one of the most recognizable women in the company, constantly on top of the women’s roster, and winning raves for her incredible microphone work. Nerds who complain she isn’t good at wrestling probably wouldn’t have understood Abdullah the Butcher either.
Grade: A+
Carmella
Call-up date: July 26. OH THE IRONY! When she managed Enzo and Big Cass in NXT, she was despised by the Full Sail nerds, who would chant “you can’t wrestle” at her. Two years later, and here we are: Real1 is making unlistenable hip hop tracks for his Instagram stories, Big Cazz is set to make his indie debut for Big Time Wrestling in Spartanburg, S.C., and Carmella is coming off a 131-day run as Smackdown Women’s Champion, having beaten Asuka in matches on pay-per-view and free TV. She’s not at Alexa’s level as a heel - not many people are - but she’s done a great job of establishing herself in a women’s roster that suffers from way too many bland characters and storylines.
Grade: B+/A-
Jason Jordan
Call-up date: August 2. Listen, Vince hates tag teams. American Alpha was a red-hot team in NXT, where they got over thanks to their phenomenal work inside the ring. But even there, they were kind of bland as individuals. On the main roster, where tag teams rarely last, this spelled trouble. Jordan has been hampered by injuries, but even without that he’s a man adrift, the highlight of his tenure so far being the kayfabe revelation that he’s Kurt Angle’s son, which has mostly been treated as an afterthought.
Grade: D
Chad Gable
Call-up date: August 2. Second verse, same as the first. They tried to spark some of that American Alpha magic after disbanding American Alpha by pairing Gable with Shelton Benjamin, with predictable results. I don’t think Gable’s been on television since May, and he’s not injured. He apparently feuded with Mike Kanellis on Main Event back in June, to give you some idea. He taped a thing for WWE’s social media channels with amateur wrestling god Dan Gable, which I liked, so there’s that.
Grade: D
Bayley
Call-up date: August 22. I will admit here that I did not “get” her gimmick in NXT. It just always seemed vaguely unsettling, and now we know that it led to the Cult of Izzy. That aside, she had an undeniable connection with the audience, largely thanks to her palpable enthusiasm and tremendous in-ring skill. I never really bought the commonplace line that she could become the female John Cena, mostly because I think that underestimates how much of Cena’s appeal comes from the fact that half the audience hates him. But she’s a true-blue babyface in a company that doesn’t really know what to do with true-blue babyfaces, and so her main roster stint has been something of a disappointment. It’s weirdly fitting that she’s locked into this seemingly endless frenemies storyline with Sasha Banks, another woman who was adored in NXT and who hasn’t really found her footing on the main roster.
Grade: C
Rich Swann
Call-up date: September 19. He had his moments in 205 Live, but it was clear his off-kilter personality and presentation were not what they had in mind as the Face of the Division. They were trying to mold him into what they have with Mustafa Ali or Cedric Alexander, when they would have been better off trying to make Swann the Dean Ambrose of the cruiserweights. Instead, well, we know what happened instead.
Grade: F/Incomplete
Austin Aries
Call-up date: December 18. I have a theory that Vince McMahon thought Austin Aries was Bobby Roode, and that when they hired the real Bobby Roode, Vince immediately said, “Well, then who the fuck is this guy?”

Well, Since You Begged (Sami Zayn) - the reader suffers from an injury and her best friend Sami cares for her. Afterwards, Sami mentions feelings he has, leading up to some domineering Sami plowing her into next week
let me know what you think, y'all. also, i have tons of free time now, so i’m going to start taking requests. enjoy the read, hoes. it’s a long one, buckle up for the ride
WARNINGS: smut, language, spanking!
“Get dressed. I’ll be over to your room in 10 minutes and then we’ll go get some food.” I reread the text from Sami one more time before finally pushing myself out of bed.
I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, groaning at my disheveled appearance. I didn’t sleep well last night and it showed quite obviously in my knotty hair and under eye bags. I combed through my hair vigorously with my fingers before giving up and throwing it into a messy bun. I peeled off my pajama shorts and walked into the bedroom to get some pants out of my suitcase.
When I was walking out of the bathroom, I rounded the corner too fast and the next thing I knew, the room was getting black and my body hit the floor hard and I was unconscious.
***************
I heard a faint voice calling my name, but I wasn’t able to move or respond. A cool rush of water ran over my face and gave me the push I needed to wake up from whatever the hell had happened to me. I licked my lips and started getting the feeling back in my fingers.
Whoever was sitting in my room with me grabbed my hand and pulled me into them, so I was leaned into a sitting position.
“Deep breaths, take 5 of them,” a deep voice whispered into my ear. I could smell him now; I knew it was Sami and I obliged to his orders. After my deep breaths, I felt confident enough to open my eyes and was met with Sami’s worried eyes. I was still processing what happened so it took him asking what was wrong a few times before I could respond.
“I-I don’t know,” I said. “I was coming out of the bathroom and I rounded the corner and everything just went black and the last thing I remember was hitting the floor.”
My whole body ached. I must have fell hard and fast onto the rough hotel room floor. I rubbed the back of my neck tenderly. That’s where it hurt the most, that much I was sure of. Even though I was knocked unconscious, I didn’t feel fuzzy or unnerved in that sense. My body just hurt.
“You probably tweaked your head funny. I told you that you needed to get that pinched nerve massaged out last night.” Sami glared at me, his facial features saying that he was right and I was wrong. “You idiot,” he added, just to prove my point.
I looked behind him, focusing on anything but his disapproving gaze. I hated when my ego got too big for my own good and I didn’t listen to his advice. It made me feel as though I let him down and I hated letting Sami down. “I know,” I mumbled.
To my surprise, Sami let out a throaty chuckle. “If you weren’t so goddamn stubborn, girl.”
I smiled and shook my head softly. Glancing down at my hands in my lap, I suddenly became very aware of the fact that I never got the chance to put pants on. I blushed deeply, hoping that Sami, who was squatted over my body, was too distracted by my fainting to notice.
Just in case he hadn’t, I chose to change the subject. “How did you get in here?” I asked, raising my eyebrows skeptically at my sweet ginger.
He seemed to blush slightly before he answered me. “Well, I tried knocking on your door and calling your phone, but you didn’t answer either and I began to panic so I bribed the maid down the hall for her key so I could check on you.” He scratched at the back of his neck, bashful.
I hit his arm playfully. “Sami Zayn! You dirty dog. Did you flirt with the maid for her key card?” I shot him a smirk and watched as the notorious animated man became insanely animated with a deep laugh.
“In my defense,” he said in between breaths, “I did it for you.” We both continued to share an in-the-moment laugh when Sami brought his hand up to my face, pulling a loose hair behind my ear. His voice dropped in volume and his body language got serious. “I’d do anything for you.”
It took me a while to process what Sami said and the seriousness of it. Of course we’d said things like that, it’s what best friends do. It was always lighthearted and playful, unlike this time. My breath caught in my throat and Sami gave an uncomfortable fake cough before he stood up above me.
I laid back down on the floor so he was standing directly above my center, his feet on either side of my hips. I looked up at him from my position on the floor and I took the chance to bask in his beauty. He was in tapout pants and a grey hoodie and his hair looked unbrushed. I always thought he looked most handsome like this; he looked the most like himself.
His glossy brown eyes stared down at me and a small smile played on his lips. I couldn’t help but smile when Sami smiled. His entire personality was contagious and I was definitely infected. Staring up at him from my place on the floor, I wanted nothing more than to kiss him right now.
Sami extended his hands to me and I reached out for them. He pulled me up in one swift move, but perhaps a little too quickly because our chests smashed into one another and our faces were just a few inches apart. I snaked my arms around him, a silent thank you. He returned the hug, but his hands landed a little lower than he anticipated and he flinched back when he grazed the bare skin of my ass.
I had forgot about my lack of pants, again, and the contact jolted me back to reality as well. We both took a few steps away from each other, Sami sheepishly looking everywhere but at me. I made no effort to cover up this time. After Sami’s comment, this seemed like my only chance to test the boundaries of our friendship without losing him.
“You, uh…” Sami stuttered. “Um, you… I mean, I don’t know if you know this, but you, you don’t have any… um…” Sami’s gaze finally met mine for a few seconds and then his eyes trailed down my body and to my center, where he stared for longer than a friend would.
I raised my t-shirt slightly, allowing more skin and underwear to be shown. I thought I heard Sami let out a small moan, but it was so low it might have been my imagination. I looked down at my lace white panties and thanked God for giving me the good sense to put these on after I got out of the shower last night.
“Yeah,” I laughed, playing with the hem of my shirt. “I kinda fainted at an unfortunate time.”
Sami took just the slightest step forward. “Not entirely unfortunate,” he whispered. He looked pained, like he wanted desperately to do something, but thought it was against his better judgment to do so.
“Rami,” I murmured and then more clearly, “Just do it.”
He looked confused for a half of a second and then decided that my word of approval was the only thing that mattered. He took two bounding steps and grabbed either side of my face and kissed me hungrily.
I brought my hands up and tugged on his hair and he let out a moan, walking me backwards so the back of my knees hit the bed and laid me down. His hands began to roam my body, starting at my thighs and teasing the waistband of my underwear before tugging my shirt over my head. He tossed his head back in pleasure when he took in my breasts, bare and ready to go.
“Strip,” I moaned in anticipation and he threw his sweater and joggers off faster than I’ve ever seen him move in my life. When we were both down to our underwear, he slapped my pussy and I cried out at the mixture of pain and pleasure that I felt.
“Fuck,” Sami growled as he ran a hand over his erection. “Scoot up further, now.” This was a different side than I’d ever seen of Sami and I was definitely turned on. I did as he asked and he leaned down and kissed me again, taking his time to bite down on my bottom lip.
He pulled away and slapped my pussy again, harder this time. I whimpered again, my hips bucking up to him. He stared down at me, lust in his eyes. “Do you like that baby girl? Do you like when I smack you?” I nodded my head yes, desperate. He smacked me again. “Say it.”
“I-I love it when you smack my pussy, Sami,” I breathed out breathlessly.
He leaned down over me, attaching his mouth to my breasts. I arched my back, lessening the space between our bodies. My hands reached up to him, nails digging into the skin on his shoulder blades. His tongue swirled around my nipples and if he kept it up, I probably could’ve came right then and there.
Soon his fingers were at the band my panties, teasing the area slowly. “Sami, please,” I moaned. He grabbed my face in one hand and forced me to make eye contact with him.
“What do you want baby girl?” His voice was harsh and primal, which only added to the wetness pooling between my thighs.
I brought a hand up, my fingers digging into his beard. “I want you to fuck me, Sami. I want you to fuck me so hard I feel it for weeks. Please, please please,” I begged.
“Oh, well, since you begged me.” He winked at me before pulling my underwear all the way off my legs and pulling off his own. My mouth watered and my chest tightened when his dick sprung up and slapped against his stomach. From the looks of it, Sami was packing some serious heat.
He hooked his arms around my legs and pulled until my hips were hanging off the edge of the bed. He began to kiss up my thighs, the anticipation welling in my chest. I pushed my pussy towards his face and he slapped it again, causing me to squirm under his touch.
“You don’t move unless I tell you to move. Do you understand?”
“Y-yes.”
“Good,” he said just before bringing his mouth down onto my clit. My right hand flung up into his hair, the other gripping violently at the sheets. He continued to lick and suck at my folds, pleasing me in every way possible. After a few minutes I felt my orgasm rise and I tugged even harder on his hair.
“Oh my God, please Sami, I’m so close.”
He moaned, sending deep vibrations into my clit, adding to my pleasure. He sucked harder and faster, inserting two fingers into me with ease. He pumped in and out of my pussy vigorously, focusing in on my little bundle of nerves.
“Come all over my face, baby girl,” He said against my skin. That’s all it took for me; my orgasm shook through my whole body, my walls tightening around his fingers. Sami kept kissing my clit, letting me ride out my high.
When I was done, he pulled out his fingers and stuck them into his mouth, spending time to taste me on each one. The sight alone made me drip with desire all over again, so I dropped to my knees on the floor and grabbed Sami’s hard dick in my hand. He groaned and reached down to fist my hair. I flattened my tongue and dragged it across the underside of his dick, moving quickly and with a purpose. I began to suck the precum off the head of his dick, spending extra time there; slow, teasing.
“Holy shit, baby,” he breathed out, closing his eyes. “You’re so good with that mouth of yours.”
I smirked before taking Sami completely into my mouth, the tip of his dick touching at the back of my throat. Sami began to use my hair to guide my head to his own speed. While he fucked my face, I reached up and grabbed his balls.
Sami pulled out of my mouth immediately and I thought I did something wrong, but his face told me I was doing everything right.
He pushed me back onto the bed and ordered me to get on all fours, which I did. He reached up and played with my nipples. I bucked my hips back into him, my begging and desperation quite obvious. He shoved my face into the bed and brought a hand down harshly onto my ass. The crack sounded through the whole room and I moaned into the comforter.
“I said you only move when I tell you to, baby girl. You don’t know what you just brought down on yourself,” he said before thrusting his full length completely into me. I cried out and his thrusts got harder and faster. His hand occasionally came down on my ass and the pleasure was almost unbearable.
“Oh fuck babe,” he moaned, leaning down to whisper into my ear. “I’m so close. Are you close?”
Unable to speak, I nodded into the blanket. I could feel my orgasm getting close again. He pulled out and my body immediately ached for him. Much to my surprise and excitement, Sami sat up on the bed against the headboard and pulled me onto him, so that I was straddling his lap.
“Ride me.”
I grabbed his cock in my hand and slowly eased him into me, taking it slow at first, allowing for the deeper penetration from position change to stretch me. I bounced and swerved on his dick and Sami grabbed my hips, helping me to move quicker. It didn’t take long before we were both throwing around curse words and each others names, our highs coming up quick. The thrusts grew messy on both parts and my breath was getting short.
“Fuck Sami,” I moaned into his neck, “I’m going to cum.”
He pulled the loose hairs around my face behind my ears and forced me to make eye contact with him. Looking at his face and seeing the love and lust there added to my arousal, being that one thing I need to push me over the edge. “Cum for me, baby girl,” he muttered.
I let myself go, my orgasm sending vibrations and pleasure throughout my body. “Sami!” I screamed and continued to grind my hips on his dick, my forehead pressed against his. He reached down and rubbed my clit, giving my orgasm another kick, my pussy clenching around him.
“Oh fuck, babe,” he groaned, eyes focused on mine. “I’m going to cum.” And not a second later, I felt him release his load into me while he yelled my name.
I let him finish completely and then pulled him out of me, slumping against his chest. His arms wrapped me up and I had never felt more safe or electric in my life. He smoothed out my hair while I trailed my fingers along his skin, tracing the scar on his shoulder. We laid in the quiet for a long time, just enjoying the closeness.
“Well…” Sami began. We both laughed and I pulled back to stare at him. “That was fun.”
I nodded, a big smile spreading across my face. “Yeah.” But then I took on a more serious tone. “Sami…I-I…” I stuttered, trying to find the appropriate words.
He placed both hands on either side of my face and pulled me in for a kiss. This one was much slower and sweeter than the ones I had just experienced.
“I like you,” he whispered when he pulled away. “I like you kind of a lot. I’ve wanted to say something since I met you.” He closed his eyes and his skin flushed red.
It was hard to believe that the Sami that dominated me during sex just minutes before was the same Sami sitting here now, blushing while admitting that he liked me. I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him for another kiss… and then another and another.
“Rami, Rami, Rami,” I chided. He beamed at me; I knew he loved when I used his real name. “I like you a lot too, you goob.”
“Hey now, watch what you call me. You don’t know what names will turn me on yet.” He smirked at me and gave me a wink.
“As long as you’re turned on, I don’t think I care when or where or what does it for you. That was quite the good surprise you gave me.”
It was true. No one had ever had me spent and turned on like that before. Sami flushed again and my heart swelled with adoration.
“Yeah, yeah,” he brushed the compliment off. “Let’s clean up and get dressed so we can go get some food. If I wasn’t hungry before, I sure as shit am now.”
I agreed and we both got to our feet. My phone pinged and I walked over to the dresser to check it. Now it was my turn to blush bright red, embarrassed by the message I read.
Finn - Hey, can you animals keep it down next time? We share a wall, you know. Glad you guys finally did something though, congrats to you and Sami ;)

NXT Takeover Review Series: NXT Arrival
Hello, everyone, and welcome to a special new series I’m starting, beginning with this review. NXT recently celebrated 5 years under its current format, having previously been utilized as a Tuesday evening TV show showcasing select FCW stars. In its past format, NXT saw the main roster debut of such stars as Daniel Bryan, Wade Barrett, Ryback, AJ Lee, and Bray Wyatt. Since replacing FCW as the developmental territory of WWE, however, NXT has turned out a large amount of stars. A cursory look of both Raw and Smackdown’s rosters yields a great number of wrestlers who spent time in NXT. In addition, NXT has developed a reputation of being an attractive place for wrestlers to work, with a chance at making it to the main roster luring in such big indy names as ReDRagon, Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Tommy End, and many others. And that’s just within the last year or so. NXT has truly come into its own since launching in 2012, and one can probably point to the launch of the WWE Network and subsequent live NXT Special just days after launching. Today, I’ll be going back and reviewing that very show, thus kicking off a series where I’ll be reviewing every NXT Takeover special ever done. So, without further ado, let’s get into the review!
We get a crazy little opening with the lights dimmed and mood music playing, as Triple H asks if we’re ready. He says “This is NXT,” and the show gets underway. We’re live from Full Sail University, and the fans are already hot for the show. Triple H says the next generation has arrived, as we get our opening video package. After that, it’s Sami Zayn out first for opening match. I gotta say, it’s jarring seeing him come out to something that’s not his current theme. We’re welcomed by our commentators for tonight, Byron Saxton, William Regal, and Tom Phillips with a goofy haircut. Out next is Cesaro, and we’ve got our opening match.
CESARO DEF. SAMI ZAYN BY PINFALL VIA NEUTRALIZER:
Great, great match. Cesaro was incredible as the powerhouse heel, and Sami Zayn played the role of the injured, yet determined underdog as good as anybody else. Just a fantastic match, and one where Zayn is just as well off by losing as he would by winning. **** 1/4.
Post-match, Cesaro exits the ring as Sami reflects on his loss. Halfway up the ramp, Cesaro stops, goes back into the ring, and approaches Zayn. They exchange glances for a bit, before Cesaro lifts Sami to his feet, and pulls him in for a hug. The two embrace in a show of respect, as the crowd gives their approval. Cesaro leaves, as the crowd give Sami a standing ovation and chants “Ole.” Excellent way to start off the show.
We get a vignette for future Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner Mojo Rawley. Out comes CJ Parker, who has recently found success in New Japan Pro Wrestling as Juice Robinson. Out next is the Hype Man himself, as we get ready for our second match:
MOJO RAWLEY DEF. CJ PARKER BY PINFALL VIA HYPERDRIVE:
Too short to really amount to much. Rawley’s probably best in small doses, anyhow. Parker actually looked pretty decent as a heel. * 1/4.
We get a vignette for Emma, and I have no idea what her gimmick is. She dances? She’s weird? She plays with bubbles? Jesus, and people call Bayley a female Eugene. We get another vignette, this one for the NXT Tag Team Champions The Ascension. Wow, those were the days. Out they come for an open challenge for their titles. Who should answer it but Scotty 2 Hotty and Grandmaster Sexay. Too Cool! I’m a little saddened that they’re using “Turn it Up,” which I consider to be the inferior Too Cool theme, but what can you do? Also, Scotty 2 Hotty’s bald, which is also kind of a dampener. It’s just not the same without his McDonald’s fries-looking hair:
THE ASCENSION DEF. TOO COOL BY PINFALL VIA FALL OF MAN TO RETAIN THE NXT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS:
One-sided affair here, which basically served to showcase The Ascension. Not a lot to speak of, to be honest. * 1/4.
We see Paige backstage, before getting a vignette for here. Wow, to think this was only three years ago. How things have changed. She talks about being the opposite of the prototypical Diva, and what it means to be champion. I would make a joke about the Women’s Title Belt, but I’d like to think this blog is a little more dignified. We then see Ric Flair and Charlotte taking in the show from ringside, when out comes Stephanie McMahon. If a woman in WWE makes history and Stephanie McMahon isn’t there to attach herself to it, did it ever really happen? The fans chant “you still got it,” presumably towards her figure, and she proclaims she never lost it. Gag. She talks about how they’re making history by being part of the first live program on the WWE Network, and does the spiel of how she’s proud of the women’s division for showing women can do what men can do, but better. I’m all for feminism and everything, but I think it would be a little more meaningful if we got to hear Paige or Emma say this kind of thing. Oh, well. She introduces the two competitors as the next generation of WWE Divas, and Emma comes out to her awful, awful theme. She got this opportunity in a “dance battle,” which kind of reflects poorly on how the women are being regarded. William Regal is seen dancing to her music, and they mention she’s beaten two former Divas since becoming #1 Contender. To think she’d be released just 5 months later for stealing an IPad case. I mean, they brought her back, but she’s really done a whole lot of nothing the last three years. Out next is the champion, Paige. Stephanie shakes the hands of both competitors, as this match gets underway:
PAIGE DEF. EMMA BY SUBMISSION VIA SCORPION CROSSLOCK TO RETAIN THE NXT WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP:
OK Women’s match that at least had the crowd’s attention the whole time. I personally found this to be largely dull, with Emma dominating a good portion of the match. There were some cool moments, such as Emma hitting a Powerbomb on Paige, or Paige breaking out the Scorpion Crosslock for the win, but it falls below most NXT Women’s Title match standards, and probably some of AJ Lee’s title matches on the main roster, as well. **.
Post-match, the two briefly hug it out, as Paige celebrates her successful title defense. We cut backstage to Adrian Neville preparing for the main event, a ladder match for the NXT Championship held by Bo Dallas. What a time that was. We get a video package around Neville, and I really have to commend them for going out of their way to introduce newer viewers to the stars of NXT, a must with the launch of the WWE Network. It’s no wonder NXT caught on the way it did after it was given a platform like this.
After a commercial for the NXT TV show, the camera cuts to Pat Patterson and Dusty Rhodes watching in the crowd. The “Somebody Call My Momma” music plays, as Xavier Woods comes out. That used to be his theme?! Out next is Tyler Breeze, as I guess we’re getting a cooldown match before the main event:
TYLER BREEZE VS. XAVIER WOODS WENT TO A NO CONTEST WHEN ALEXANDER RUSEV INTERFERED:
Well, so much for that. Rusev comes out, beats the shit out of both guys, and puts Woods in the Accolade, as Lana puts Rusev over. Her accent definitely improved over time. Rusev then gets on the mic and cuts a promo in Bulgarian and poses as his music hits.
We then see Bo Dallas backstage preparing for the main event. They play a video package for Dallas, and, say what you will about him, the man has a great sense of humor. I’ve even enjoyed seeing him as part of the Miztourage. Cut back to the audience as we see Larry Zbyszko and Steve Keirn watching from ringside. The star power’s sort of hitting a point of diminishing returns right now. We then get a video package for how the ladder match came to be, before cutting back to the ring, lights dimmed and ladders all over the place. Out comes Shawn Michaels, NXT Title belt in hand, as he heads to the ring. Michaels cuts a promo saying he’s proud to be here tonight, as the fans chant stuff like “one more match” and “H-B-Shizzle.” I don’t even know. Michaels finally has to ask them to stop, as he talks about his history with ladder matches, as he plugs his Mr. Wrestlemania DVD and talks about how he has to put his kids through college. Michaels finally gets serious, as he puts over both men in the main event, and says only one of them will walk out with the title and step into greatness. Adrian Neville’s music hits, and out comes the challenger to a nice ovation. Out next is Bo Dallas, as we get formal introductions. As the title is raised both men stare each other down, as our main event is underway:
ADRIAN NEVILLE DEF. BO DALLAS IN A LADDER MATCH TO WIN THE NXT CHAMPIONSHIP:
Very fun, well-paced work between these two. I’ve never seen Bo work quite the way he did in this match, as he did everything he could to wear Neville down and stop him from getting to the title above the ring. This match didn’t really have a whole lot that you’ve never seen in a Ladder Match before, but it served as an entertaining, satisfying main event match. *** 1/2.
Post-match, Neville celebrates atop the ladder with the title, as steam comes down from the ceiling. He continues to celebrate, as John Cena is shown in the crowd, giving Neville a standing ovation. Arrival goes off the air, as the announcers tell us this is a new beginning for NXT.
 OVERALL THOUGHTS:
I’m really not sure how to precisely describe this show. As someone who’s seen most of the Takeover specials over the last few years, this felt a bit different from how those feel. The pacing wasn’t all there. Not every match felt like it was one of consequence. Obviously, the talent pool shifted to one that featured more experienced wrestlers from across the world. As a first taste of NXT, however, this wasn’t all that bad. Both the opener and main event delivered in their own ways, and I would actually recommend going out of your way to watch the opener, by all means. Everything else in between ranges from passable to skippable. Overall, I’d give it a mild recommendation, with a strong suggestion to watch the opener, main event, and perhaps the Women’s match as well. Everything else is better off being passed over.
Well, that’s the first installment of what I hope will be a very rewarding series. In addition to reviewing more NXT specials, I’m also looking at a few other ideas for posts, so I’ll probably put something up within the next week or so detailing exactly what I intend to review over the next few months. Until then, stay tuned for more updates, and enjoy.

Sami would finally be home in Montreal in an hour. It had been nearly two months since they’d last seen each other, and she knew that he would be grinning from ear to ear the moment he saw her, and she could just hear him now: “Babe, I’ve missed you. How have you been? Are you all right? Do you have everything you need? Is there anything you want? Let me get it for you. You look gorgeous today. Absolutely stunning.”
And that was a normal conversation with the man. That was Sami the moment he was in her presence, content to just take care of her and shower her with praise.
She could only imagine what he would say once she told him the good news.
“Stop smiling. He’s going ta know before ya even open yer mouth.”
She’d nearly forgotten that Finn and Bayley were already here. That’s right, she thought, Sami’s flight had been delayed.
“He’s right,” Bayley chimed in from behind her, wrapping an arm around Sofia’s waist, the other arm and hand reaching for Sofia’s inconspicuous bump. “And then he’ll question you for an hour until you give it up.”
Sofia ignored them both, asking, “is Kevin on the way?”
Finn answered calmly, a beer in his hand already. “He’s on tha same plane, love.” He shared a sideways glance with Bayley.
“Right, right.” Sofia took a few deep breaths, wanting everything to be perfect for when Sami and Kevin made it to the loft. It was a double homecoming. Her eyes widened when she realized there was only one person unaccounted for. “Karina!”
“I already called her,” Bayley responded, as calmly as her Irish counterpart. “She was having baby sitter trouble but she found another last minute. There’s no need to worry, babe. Everything will go perfectly.” Bayley kissed her gingerly on the cheek, and Sofia couldn’t help but smile at her.
There was a frantic knock on the door, and Finn made for it nonchalantly, while Bayley and Sofia got the patio table ready for dinner. “I’m comin, I’m comin!” he responded, as the knocks continued.
He opened the door to find Karina, looking disheveled but beautiful, one hand holding her phone to her ear and the other hand held up to her forehead, as if in distress. Her plump red lips moved quickly as she spoke in frantic French.
“D'accord, d'accord. Oui. Oui. Je t'aime,” was all Finn could understand, as Karina hung up the phone. She kissed him in greeting on both cheeks, holding him close to whisper in his ear. “Their plane made good time, they’ll be here in fifteen minutes.”
“Good lord. Lovely ta see ya too, Karina,” Finn said as he embraced her. “But best not tell the pregnant woman. I’ll handle it.” He made his way to the terrace to help Sofia finish up.
Karina gave him a look as Bayley came running into her arms, picking her up in a tight bear hug. “Oh, it’s so good to see you!”
“And you, lovely,” Karina struggled to say, as she was being squeezed to death.
Sofia appeared at the door to the terrace, grinning as she noticed who’d walked through the door. Embracing Karina, she was beaming with delight. They began to speak in unintelligible French, so Bayley took her leave of them when she noticed Finn motioning to her from outside.
“What-?” but he hushed her, not wanting Sofia to glance back in their direction.
“Keep yer voice down or we’ll never hear the end o’ this from Karina. Listen,” he said, “take Sof to her bedroom ta change and take Karina wi’ ya, get her dressed and all sexy because Kev and Sami’ll be here any minute.”
Bayley’s beautiful deep brown eyes widened in response. Finn could have taken her right then, in front of the girls if his good conscience hadn’t gotten in the way. Instead, he kissed her deeply on the lips and sighed, “go, get her ready, love. I’ll make sure tha living room and the terrace are up to Sof’s standards.” She hurried away, but not before he gave her a pat on the ass.
God be praised, he thought.
Sofia was starting to get suspicious. Bayley was in front of her, soft brown eyes kind as she concentrated on powdering Sofia’s face, smoothing out her eye shadow, and delicately administering Sof’s mascara.
“Thank you for doing this,” Sofia said, as Bayley hushed her for opening her mouth. She took a look in the vanity mirror in front of her, and she blushed at what she saw. She hoped that Sami would have the same reaction.
Behind her, Karina was mumbling to herself in French, Sofia’s entire closet splayed out on the bed. “Mon dieu, non…”
As Bayley brushed out Sofia’s luscious locks, Rina shouted, “bah, merde!” halting Bayley mid-stroke, Sofia twisting ‘round to see what the fuss was all about. At Bayley’s questioning look and Sofia’s apparent irritation, Karina responded, “Shoes!” as if they should have known. Sofia pointed towards the foot of the bed, telling Karina to pull the handle that she would feel lay underneath.
Content, Karina surveyed each pair of shoes as if she were a judge on a fashion show. She scanned them, left to right, and when she’d made it to the end of the line, her eyes darted back to the pair she knew would dazzle.
“They’re flats, but they’re just darling,” she said to Sof, slipping them on to her best friend’s feet. “And now I can go back to the dresses and pick the one that fits best.”
Sofia giggled as Bayley brushed her hair a bit more, every hair on her head tingling from the touch of the brush and the feeling of someone’s presence. She looked in the mirror again, and saw how her dark black hair shined.
Karina picked out a bracelet that would match Sofia’s simple but beautiful diamond ring, a silver one, and clipped the clasp around Sof’s wrist.
“Here, take this dress and I’ll put everything away.”
Sofia conceded, and made her way to the connecting bathroom. She would have changed in front of her friends, but she wanted to have a moment alone with the small bump at her middle. She could feel that time was short, though she had no idea why.
She locked the bathroom door with a click, and she leaned one ear to the door to hear her friends’ muffled voices.
So Sami will be here in less than five minutes, she thought. That’s why they were so frantic.
In any other moment, she would have been annoyed to know they kept this from her, but something about being inside that bathroom, with stillness and quiet surrounding her, and the bump on her belly, caused her to be calm. This was it. Sami was going to be a father.
And I’m going to be a mother.
She touched her belly tenderly. She couldn’t feel anything. Not anything physically, at least. Her baby probably wasn’t even partly formed yet. But she could feel something, deep in the pit of her stomach, and deep within her heart and mind, that told her, “there’s a baby there. Or at least it’s trying to be.”
“Don’t worry, baby,” she said softly, in case her friends could hear, “you’re going to have the greatest dad in the world. And hopefully the greatest mom, too.”
With one last touch, she picked up the dress and draped it over herself, smiling as she noticed that she’d never worn it.
Karina has a memory like a super computer.
It was a dark navy cocktail dress, with sparkles all over, glimmering like stars in the sky. Her milky legs contrasted expertly with it, and the silver flats did as well. The dress was strapless, further accentuating the top of her breasts. It’ll do quite nicely, she thought.
Just then, she heard Finn, welcoming someone at the door as loud and as obnoxiously as he could muster so as to let her know they were here.
“Beat ya home, didn’t I, lads?” and she could hear Kev’s booming laugh and Sami’s accompanying chuckles. Her skin prickled at the sound she knew so well.
Bayley knocked on the bathroom door, shyly. “Babe? Sami’s here.”
He’s here. My Sami is home.
Her hand went to below her stomach again, and she chastised herself for doing so, knowing that if she did that often in front of Sami it might clue him in to what was going on. It pained her to be conscious of such things, but she knew she’d have to be careful.
She made her way to the living room.
What was all this? He thought.
First Kev follows me home, now Finn and Bayley? And Karina’s here?
“Happy birthday, Sami!” His arms wrapped around a stunning young Bayley, who hugged him just as strongly as Finn had, if not stronger. Karina was next, with a kiss to the cheek, but she quickly moved to the man she really wanted to kiss, her loving husband, the man who brought out the best in her. But all Sami could think was 'where is the face of the woman I love?’
His thinking was rewarded when he looked past his friends to the living room.
“Babe.”
Her smile was divine. He could see the small dimples it created in her round cheeks, and his mouth couldn’t help but break into a smile as well, for his heart began palpitating rapidly as he looked at her, absorbing the beauty before him like a sponge. Her dark hair, her skin white as porcelain, the dress that ran along the curves of her body, tight in all the right places, lacking in the places he ached to touch.
He hadn’t realized that he’d made his way past his friends until he felt the touch of her warm hand touching his cheek, fingers lightly caressing the short ginger hairs of his beard that he knew she so dearly loved.
“Sofia,” he breathed, her name escaping his lips like he was a dead man being born again, short of breath. “I missed you so much.”
“I missed you too, Sami. Happy birthday, handsome.”
“How are you?”
“I’m great,” she grinned, “now that you’ve come back to me.”
“Do you need anything?”
“No, babe, I’m good.”
“Are you sure? Because I can go get you whatever you need. Don’t hesitate to ask me, that’s what I’m here fo-”
“She said she’s fine, ya ol’ fool.” A clap on the back jolted him into the real world, where more than just Sofia existed. “Now, I’m here ta celebrate yer damned birth so ya best go and get me another beer before yer time on this beautiful earth ends quickly and abruptly.”
“Another?” Sami teased, unwilling to draw his eyes away from his blushing fiancée. When the Irishman continued to complain, albeit jokingly, Sami resigned to holding Sofia’s hand and dragging her to the kitchen, pausing under the doorway to pull her into a romantic kiss. Gosh, how he wanted her.
She placed a hand on his chest to stop him. Her dark eyes chastised him for behaving so forward, motioning to their friends in the living room. “Let’s get Finn his beer, come on,” pulling him farther into the kitchen, opening the refrigerator door and grabbing three more beers.
“He only asked for one,” Sami said, stopping in front of her and grabbing the beers from her hands. His face hovered close to hers once more, aching for another kiss. His eyes were wide, like a puppy’s, the shadow of a smile on his lips, and she wanted so badly to give in. But she wouldn’t.
She handed Kevin his beer and Finn his, Finn nearly falling on his knees in gratitude. She laughed, and turned to Bayley. “Drink, babe?”
“I’m good, Sof,” she replied, “but when’s the food gonna be ready?” Finn giggled to hide how turned on he was by her appetite, nuzzling into her on the love seat.
“Nearly. I wasn’t exactly expecting the guys to get here so early,” she said, giving a pointed look to Kevin.
“Hey, don’t look at me. That’s why I don’t fly American.”
He received a few laughs from that one.
“God, this rosemary chicken was amazing, Sof.”
“She’s right, God, it was great.”
“Gonna have ta tell my mum she’s got a rival.”
“Jesus, Finn!”
“Wha-?”
“Oh my God.”
“Thank you, Finn, that’s very sweet.”
And on it went. Sami, on the other hand, was getting more ravenous as the night went on, though he was no longer hungry. Every hand she ran through her hair, every giggle or laugh that came out of her precious mouth like a tinkling bell, every sassy look she flashed in the direction of Kevin’s sarcasm or Finn’s incessant conversing, every time she leaned on his chair, standing while he sat, made him want to run his fingers along her thighs and under the hem of her skirt - which she’d promptly swipe away like a fly - all of it was slowly grinding away at him, he could feel his pants tightening around him. But he continued talking, he continued to laugh, he continued to grin, make small (not so small) anecdotes here and there, hands waving constantly. All in all, a perfect gentleman and man of the house. No one could say he wasn’t hospitable.
But he didn’t know how long it would last.
Finally, someone mentioned presents.
He blushed at the thought. “Guys, you didn’t, you didn’t have to get me anything. Really. I mean, I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday, honestly.” It’ll be better once you guys leave, though.
Sofia was about ready to burst. She had done her best to maintain the look of a good and proper hostess, asking everyone if they’d like something more to drink, something more to eat, anything?? She even stopped Sami from touching her several times throughout the course of dinner, guilt ridden as she was for doing so and molding to his touch. And she’d definitely done her best to not touch her belly, and it was killing her to keep her secret from Sami. But she had to. Until right about now.
“Here, we put all three presents in the same bag,” Karina said, handing him a green birthday bag with blue tissues coming out in all directions.
“I’m telling you, you guys didn’t have to do this,” Sami grinned, looking at each of them in gratitude, pulling out each tissue as slowly as he could, with complaints from his friends.
The first thing he grabbed out of the bag was a small El Generico mask. “Weird, this won’t fit me,” he said, apparently clueless but still smiling, his face hiding the myriad of thoughts he was thinking, all coming to one conclusion that he didn’t want to say aloud until he was absolutely sure, but all the same it was still making his heart beat rather rapidly.
The next thing he grabbed was a small cap like the one he wore every week to the ring. Interesting, he thought, but it was much the same as the other gift. He couldn’t be sure yet. He continued to smile, though it was becoming less and less genuine in the sense that he was now becoming more shocked.
The last gift was a small onesie that read “I Love My Daddy,” and he felt his goddamn heart melt.
As he held the onesie in his hands, it was like the world got a little brighter, and he looked up to the one pair of eyes he knew would have an answer.
Her eyes were glistening, and he caught the briefest movement of her hands to below her belly, and he knew. He knew for sure. This was not a joke.
This was fucking real.
“We’re gonna have a baby?” he whispered. She nodded, too overwhelmed to speak, a knot in her throat. No one else was speaking, and she knew they were doing it for her and Sami, to give them this moment but all she wanted was an end to the silence or for Sami to just move, to just fucking hug her but he was just as overwhelmed he felt that if he stood up his knees would buckle and he’d never be able to stand again. Sofia looked to Karina, and to Bayley, eyes pleading.
“Congratulations, Sami,” Bayley was the first to speak, the first to move. “You’re gonna be a dad!” She wrapped him in a warm hug, the shock still plastered on his face.
Karina moved next, enveloping him in her arms. “How do you feel, hon?” He made no motions to stir, and finally Kevin, sitting to Sami’s left at the table, kicked him right in the shin. “Hey, dickhead, my wife’s talking to you.”
“Looks like ya scared tha talkin’ ri’ out of'im, Sofia,” Finn giggled, waving a hand in front of Sami’s face.
At this point, Sofia began to worry. She sank down to her knees next to him, lightly touching his arm. The touch seemed to break the spell that was cast upon him, for he looked at her and he grinned, and kissed her full on the mouth.
“That’s my boy, Sami!” Kev cheered, patting him on the back as Sami continued to deepen the kiss.
“Babe,” Sami said, as he broke the kiss to gasp for air, “I love you. I love you so much.” He was like a desperate man, needing and wanting so badly to let her know exactly what she meant to him. “I love you so much, you’re the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me and now you’re going to make me a father.”
“I love you too, baby,” was all she could manage, tears staining her cheeks and she thanked Bayley and also God for the waterproof mascara she was wearing. Sami wiped the tears away with his fingers, and he lifted her chin up so he could look into her deep, dark eyes. She gazed at him, feeling his other hand on the side of her face and nuzzling into it. His eyes were the happiest she’d ever seen them, more than the day he asked her to marry him, and she could not look away from them.
Suddenly, his eyes darkened, and it was like all hell itself sprang loose in his eyes. If ever there was a reason to kick his friends out, now was the time, and he was going to take the opportunity.
“Kevin, Karina, forgive me, but I’m going to have to ask you to leave,” he said, standing, grabbing his fiancée’s hand and making his way back into the loft. Kevin mumbled a soft, “no problem, I was prepared for this” as he pulled out a hotel room key, and Karina eyed him suspiciously. “You told the sitter midnight. It’s nine fifteen,” he responded, and she didn’t hesitate to agree and follow him out the door with a quick wave and a wink to Bayley.
“Finn, Bayley, you too,” Sami said, leading his soon-to-be wife and mother of his child toward their bedroom, picking her up bridal style. Bayley looked at Finn with her owl eyes, and was surprised as well to see that Finn had the same idea as Kevin. “Come on, love,” Finn growled, nibbling her at her ear. “I can hardly wait much longer.” For all it mattered, neither could Bayley, to be perfectly honest. She kissed him tenderly on the cheek and led him out the door.
The lights of Montreal dappled the skyline through their bedroom window, and the moon was brightest of all, so perfectly round, like the breast of a mother ready to suckle her newborn baby.
Sami could’ve said the same about Sofia’s breasts, concealed as they were under a blanket of chiffon night. His love for her was quickly becoming lust, as he gazed upon her skin, the color of cream. How he longed to suck on those perfect tits, as he imagined he’d say, if he wasn’t so used to being the model of a gentleman. Still, he liked to imagine himself in another life as this roguish figure, who sincerely could not give a fuck what anyone thought about anything he ever said, and spent his times doing absolutely terrible and despicable things. He hoped to funnel that energy, that personality, into sex with Sofia, but something was stopping him tonight. He was hesitant, and it took him a moment to remember why.
The baby.
Where only a few moments before the thought of Sofia as mother of his child had fueled him into a ravenous lust for his wife, now his conscience had him hesitant, unable to act on his desires. Sofia noticed his dilemma, and she lay there, mulling it over.
“You know one of the common misconceptions, pardon the pun, is that you’re not supposed to have sex when you’re pregnant or your partner is pregnant.”
She could see this tortured look on his face, and wondered silently if she would be able to persuade him. Truth was, Sofia really needed him to touch her. The desire he felt was reciprocated exponentially.
“Well, it’s not true, babe.” She lifted her head, sat on her knees in front of him, where he was at the foot of the bed, standing. Sofia reached for Sami’s hands, holding them between her own, feeling the callouses on his rough palms. She grazed his knuckles with kisses.
“Are you sure?”
“Sami Zayn, if I wasn’t sure I would be under the covers reading a book.” He didn’t seem convinced, so she tried a different approach.
Letting go of his hands, she placed one of her own on his leg to keep her balance, and the other hand began to slide down to the bulge in his jeans. She heard Sami’s sharp intake of breath, the soft “babe, I-” escape his lips. Her body rose to meet his eyes, continuing to rub at his covered cock, though damned if he can really feel anything, she thought, these jeans sure don’t let me feel anything.
So she began to unzip his jeans, never once breaking eye contact. Sofia’s lips curled up at the edges, just the slightest bit, when she noticed Sami’s eyes begin to darken with each passing second, pupils dilating with desire and lust.
With his jeans partly out of the way she felt his cock in his boxers, stroking it, and soon it was begging to come out of those, too, though Sami’s face continued to show apprehension, though his eyes told a different story, and it was beginning to annoy her. She stopped.
“Sami,” she huffed, “you’re not going to hurt the baby. You’re not going to hurt me. Now for God’s sake, would you just fuck me?”
She’d never said anything like that to him before. And for the record, neither had he. For the most part, it was “make love to me,” “come sleep with me,” or no words at all. Never “fuck me.”
And like the rogue he imagined himself to be in a different universe, he responded.
The next look Sami gave her was unlike any look she had ever seen, apart from the glimpses of it here and there she’d seen during dinner and right after she’d told him she was pregnant. But it was more intense than all of those glimpses combined.
He sank down to her level, a hand grazing the soft skin of her leg, rising slowly below the hem of her dress. The other hand cupped her breast through the fabric, giving it a rough squeeze, and to his surprise Sofia let out a moan, further driving him into a frenzy and he lunged for her throat, sucking on the skin.
Sofia’s nails began to fiddle with the buttons of his shirt, and Sami let go of her throat to devour her mouth, both of them groaning into each other’s mouths now as she unbuttoned his shirt and he reached for the zipper at her back, cursing it mentally as it gave him trouble. Once he felt the fabric fall from her back, he grazed his fingers across it, his cock tightening as he reveled in how soft she was, how small, the feeling of wanting to care for her in all the ways he could.
When Sofia finished with his shirt, he pulled it off his shoulders quickly, all the while never losing eye contact with his beloved. God, she was beautiful.
God, he’s beautiful, Sofia thought. His arms and shoulders were finally free, and she could feel herself getting wet at the sight of his strong biceps, the curves of his muscles arousing her even more with each passing breath. She bent her head down to nip at his shoulders and run her fingers through his chest hair as he gently undressed her, cupping a breast here, grazing his fingers along her hips. At this point it was hard to tell if he had understood what she meant, as he was hardly being rough anymore at all. She rolled her eyes mentally and began to bite at his neck, treating him the way she wanted to be treated. “Babe, when I say I want you to fuck me, it means I want you to fuck me.”
She continued to bite at him, every bite earning her a wince and a groan from Sami, though he’d yet to respond in kind. In fact, he was very quiet, and then after a moment he was still.
“Daddy doesn’t take orders from you,” he said gravely, his voice having dropped several octaves, pushing her back against the mattress.
Fuck, she thought, why is that so hot?
“You want me to be rough?” he growled, pulling her legs apart.
“Yes,” she breathed, unable to speak any louder due to the lump in her throat at the small bit of fear she felt at those words.
“I can’t hear you,” he huffed, squeezing the backs of her thighs, though silently he was hoping he wasn’t hurting her. Sofia, on the other hand, reveled in the pain, and the lump in her throat passed as quickly as it came.
“Yes! Oh, God, yes!” she yelled, pulling at her own hair as Sami put one leg over his shoulder.
“Yes, what?” he reprimanded, reaching under her ass to give it a light spank.
“Yes, daddy!” she shouted, feeling herself getting slicker and slicker, and she was surprised when she felt a finger deep inside her, moving violently. She could feel every movement, and she was slowly losing herself in the precious emotional mix of pain and ecstasy when suddenly it was gone. Her eyes shot up to Sami’s, who had by now, she hoped, lost himself in the character he was playing.
“Yes, baby girl,” Sami responded to her silent question. “Daddy’s here, and he’s here to stay. And he doesn’t like when you come before he’s commanded you to.”
“But,” she pleaded, trying her best not to give in to her instinct to raise her voice a few pitches, like a young girl, “babe…I don’t know if I can stop myself.”
“First of all, it’s daddy,” he said as he pulled her waist up for her meet him in a passionate kiss, his hands then reaching down to scoop up her ass between them and give each cheek a light squeeze before he spanked her, resulting in Sofia yowling in pleasure. “Second of all,” he continued, a chuckle escaping his lips as he ravaged her mouth, “you’re going to have to unless you want to be punished. And no, the spanking is the least of what I’ll do to you if you don’t do as I say,” he said, as he caught her eyeing him as if to say she was already being punished, though she loved every minute of it.
“But daddy,” she protested. He gave her a wolfish grin and stuck his tongue down her throat, silencing her. She winced at the texture of his ginger scruff on her above and below her lips, so she took a chance and bit his bottom lip, hard. Sofia could taste metal on her own.
Sami gasped for breath, fingers touching at his now raw and vulnerable lip. A splotch of red appeared on his fingers, and he pointed them at Sofia, incredulous. “Oh you’re gonna get it now. You’ve been a very bad girl.”
He pulled her up and commanded her to walk to their closet and open it. Completely naked and turned the fuck on, she did as she was told, making sure to sway her hips in the way she only did when she knew he was watching.
The blood rushed to his cock so fast he couldn’t believe it, so he began to stroke himself as she waited to do his bidding.
“Now find the sexiest lingerie you’ve got. Your favorite.”
She knelt down, slowly so he could watch her plump ass fall to the floor. He groaned, pumping his cock a bit faster. Sofia picked out her red and black lace lingerie that she had bought weeks ago. It was the softest and sexiest lingerie she owned, and it was expensive. Small diamond-like stones sparkled across its surface. The bottoms would barely cover her at all, and she knew that the top covered just enough to hide her nipples and no more. If any pair of lingerie ever made her feel like a slut, this was it.
“Put it on,” he growled, groaning to himself, still pumping his cock, slower now so as not to reach climax too quickly. He wanted to enjoy the show before him.
Sofia gave him another full view of her ass as she slowly slid the bottoms across it. She then turned around, gingerly fingering herself through her panties, already wet at the sight of her soon-to-be husband’s pleasures, and she squeezed her own tits, partly for him and partly for herself. She moaned, not because the feeling of her own breasts was a turn on, but because the moan itself was enough to get her going.
Sami was a fucking mess, motioning for her to hurry up. She put on the bra and kneeled down in front of him, her hands all the way up his thighs, loving the feeling of his leg hair underneath her fingers. Because that’s a real fucking man, she thought, getting wetter and wetter between her thighs. God, she longed for the fullness of his cock inside her. It was getting to be more than she could bare.
Sami raked his hands through her hair, dampening his lips with his tongue and feeling at the recent wound. He held her hair up in his fist, and she could feel his nails against the back of her head. He raised her head to look her straight in the eyes, tongue still feeling at the bloody lip. His own eyes were darker than ever, and Sofia could see a fire in burning in them.
“Suck me off, baby.”
She dipped her head and took half his length in her mouth, her tongue tasting the fluids already coming from the tip. She looked up at him, seeing that fierce look in his eyes, and with his hands still in her hair he pushed her further down his length, hitting the gag reflex and pushing just a bit further, before loosening his grip and allowing her to slowly pump his cock into her mouth.
“That’s a good girl,” he gasped through the delight, staring down at her, sweat beading his forehead, curling the ends of hair around his face.
Beaming in the praise, she began to pump faster and faster, hollowing out her cheeks, feeling her beloved writhing underneath her. She raked his legs with her nails.
“Oh, fuck,” he groaned, mouth hanging open in tortured pleasure. “Mm, Sofia…” he trailed off.
He must have been close to release, because he dropped her hair and pulled her off his length to ravage her mouth with his own again, tasting the mix of saliva and pre-cum on her lips. Sami’s hands pinched at her nipples, and she moaned into his mouth, this second pair of panties now as soaked as the first, and she began to lower him on the bed as she raised herself. Sofia took one of his hands and entwined it with her own; the other she planted firmly on one ass cheek, begging for more punishment. She was justly rewarded with a sharp smack. Her pussy was riding his cock through the lace fabric, and he moaned into her mouth just as she had.
Not being able to take it any longer, he ripped her panties and bra off her, reveling in the sound of the tearing fabric. He rubbed at her clit, enjoying her hoarse breathing in his mouth, then stuck a finger beneath her folds and into her pussy.
“You like that, babe?” he said, his voice so deep that Sofia’s entire body shivered.
“Yes, daddy,” she moaned.
He took his finger out of her and slid his cock inside before she even knew what was happening, the only indication being the fullness of his cock as it expanded her walls, a thrilling sensation that made her want to beg for more. She had a feeling Sami would like that, so she did.
“Daddy, please…give me more.”
“You want more, babe?” He slapped her ass with vigor.
“God, YES.”
“Look at what a bad girl you are,” he huffed, “begging like a slut.” He slapped her ass again, continuing to thrust deep inside her, faster now, rougher, though still conscious of all the right movements it took to get her heated. “Say it,” he commanded. “I’m a slut.”
“I’m a slut for you, daddy.”
“Now tell me you’re a bad girl and you deserve to be punished.”
“I’m a bad girl and I deserve to be punished,” she gasped, as he hit that perfect spot where she could feel she would burst any second.
“Sami - Daddy - fuck,” she squealed, as he spanked her ass again, the pain resonating and becoming heat between her legs. “I can’t hold on much longer!”
He squeezed a plump breast and sucked on her nipple, and she began to moan non-stop and he continued to suck on it, her pussy clenching around his cock as he thrust inside her, faster, rougher.
Within seconds, Sami was coming, and he sucked at the other nipple and spanked her ass as he felt her walls clench and spasm, Sofia unafraid now as they rode out each other’s orgasms, a feeling of ecstasy rushing through both of their bodies simultaneously, until finally Sami collapsed on her, their bodies beaded with sweat.
Silently catching their breath, near one of them said a word. Finally, after about two or three minutes, Sami propped himself up to look at Sofia.
“Did I hurt you?” he asked, concerned.
“No.”
“Don’t lie to me,” he said, a flash of Daddy in his eyes.
“Okay, a little, but nothing I wasn’t prepared for or willing to feel.”
Satisfied, Sami rolled off of her and propped himself on an elbow, his other hand grazing Sofia’s belly with his fingers. She raised a hand to scratch his beard, and he gave her a smile made of sunshine, slowly dipping his head to her tummy. She could feel his shallow breath and beard tickling her skin.
“I can’t wait to meet you,” Sami said, speaking to her middle. “You’re going to have a fantastic mommy, and I’m going to do my best to take care of both of you. You’re not going to want for anything. And you’re going to have too many aunts and uncles to count, all willing to kick someone’s ass for you.” He blew raspberries on her tummy, and Sofia giggled, stroking his hair as he listened to the gurgling sounds of her body.
“Who knew that you would be so into pregnant women?” she asked, amused despite herself.
“Just you wait till your belly’s perfect and round, Sofia. I won’t be able to keep my hands off you,” he said, lust in his eyes once more, and she shivered beneath him.
“Though I think that Daddy will probably wait till the baby’s here to show up again.”
“Pity,” she replied. “I like having Daddy around. It’s a damn shame.”
She could feel a grin on her skin.
“Oh, I think he’ll show up a few times more before you’re big and round, though. In fact,” he spoke, his voice dropping, “I think he might just make another appearance tonight. What do you think?”
She pulled his face up to meet hers. “Oh, Daddy,” she said sexually, “yes, please.”

Three Hearts Are Better Than One;
pairing: FinnxReaderxSami summary: You three have always been close, but that changes on Valentine’s Day.  warnings: swearing word count: 2,740 notes: So, first of all, this is the first wrestling fic I’ve written in years, and I’m really excited to get this out in the open. I was inspired by the picture that Finn posted of him and Seth on Valentine’s Day and this is what happened. Got a little out of hand, honestly. There may or may not be a sequel, I’m not sure, but there probably will. Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy!
It’s been well known in the WWE universe about how close Sami Zayn, Finn Balor, and yourself are. Of course, Bayley was apart of your little foursome and your closest female friend, but it seemed like the friendship between you, Sami, and Finn went deeper. You all had a connection and you were all pretty much attached at the hip. So it’s been a sucky couple of months without Finn on the road with you and Sami but you all managed to make it work. Constant texts and Skyping and phone calls, it was just like old times, even though Finn was off recovering.
You guys had spent Valentine’s day together last year, but now it was just you and Sami. After a work out together, you both had splurged on chocolate and gotten three stuffed animals (a cat for yourself, a dog for him, and a giraffe for Finn that would be given to him the next time you were all home) and went up to your hotel room, where you both had plopped down on your bed and turned on Bob’s Burgers to have in the background. Both of you had your backs against the headboard, but you were slightly turned so you can rest your legs across Sami’s and you kept your new stuffed animal close to your chest while you casually played your new mobile game obsession.
Sami’s hand was resting against your legs, his thumb gently rubbing against your skin. It was comfortable, but you were missing Finn in the equation. He’d either be snuggled in between the both of you or he’d be laying down on the bed, resting his head on your legs or stomach. And while being here with Sami was nice, you knew that you both missed Finn as well.
You let out a soft sigh, and glance up at him, a grin spreading across your face at the sight. Sami was fully invested in the episode that was playing, even though you both have seen it hundreds of times already. You just find it adorable and you quickly switch your phone to camera mode. You sneakily snapped a candid, and he didn’t even notice. It makes you giggle and he’s turning his head to look at you.
“What’s so funny?” He’s asking and you shake your head.
“Nothing important.”
“Oh really?” And now he’s grinning and he’s leaning over, trying to sneak a peek at your phone. You let out a noise of protest and then sink down into the bed, holding your phone close to your chest. “Nothing important but you won’t let me see it? What are you hiding?” He knows how to get to you, and he’s moving to hover over you, tickling your sides to try and get your phone.
“Hey! No fair!” You cry out, squirming underneath him as giggles leave your lips. It only takes you a couple of seconds to give up your phone, and he’s letting out a triumphant noise, holding the phone up in his hands. But it’s at that very moment when your phone decided to chime that Finn had texted you. Just a moment later, Sami’s phone went off, and you figured Finn had just texted the both of you. He raises an eyebrow and you nod, giving him the okay to get into your phone. He and Finn both know your password and there’s pretty much no secrets between all three of you.
He swipes open your phone, looking at the text. “He’s wondering if we’ve checked Twitter today.” You shake your head, and then grab your phone, closing the messenger app and heading to Twitter. You quickly look for Finn’s twitter and then let out a laugh at what you saw. A picture of him and Seth.
“I think we’ve been replaced,” you say, turning the phone so Sami can see. He’s laughing with you and then he’s moving to sit up. You join him, legs crossed and you shake your head, making your way back to messenger.
{ to Finny Boo Bear: Both Sami and I have just checked it now lol }
“Well, now we just need something in retaliation. Just to fuck with him,” Sami says, a mischievous grin on his face.
“Oh, I do love the way your mind works.” Your lips pull into your own mischievous smile and you’re pulling up your camera once more. You pull him to your side and you plant your lips against his cheek, one eyebrow raised as you look at the camera. Sami’s laughing, and you snap one picture, before his grin softens and you snap a couple more pictures. And then, because Sami’s Sami, he’s turning your head so he can kiss your cheek and you’re wrinkling your nose in amusement, snapping more pics.
You both take the time to find one that you both like, settling on one of him kissing your cheek and you head to Twitter to post it.
@FinnBalor Whoops, I stole your Valentine from last year. @iLikeSamiZayn
And then you’re sending Finn a text with winky kissy face. Sami’s pulling you into his side as you both relax back against the headboard.
“He’s going to kill us,” he’s muttering with a chuckle and you respond with a soft laugh of your own.
“Oh, of course. But at least we had fun, right?”
“Always.” And he’s bending to place a kiss to the top of your hair and you let out a content sigh, snuggling into his side. It’s so easy to be like this with him, and with Finn, too. And you love it, honestly. How you can be affectionate with them and have them be affectionate back with no worries that it’d turn into something more or that it’d ruin everything you guys had. Although it’s not like you didn’t want there to be something more between one of them… or both of them, if you’re being completely honest with yourself.
You know it’d never happen, you’re all just comfortable being close friends, but sometimes when you’re like this with Sami, or cuddling with Finn, or all snuggled together, you can’t help but to want more.
Your phone chimes with a Twitter notification and you’re heading there, only to see that Finn had posted a pouty face in return to your tweet. ‘Breaking my heart, you two are. This means war,’ was the caption.
“Good lord, the fans are going nuts right now,” you mutter, scrolling through all the notifications and showing some of the best ones to Sami. You guys spend a couple of minutes scrolling through that, before you even think about replying to Finn.
@FinnBalor @iLikeSamiZayn Bring it on, Finny Boo Boo, I’m ready for you.
Sami’s watching the exchange with his chin on top of your head, still holding you close. “The one downside to this is how many questions we’re going to get about if we’re dating,” he points out, and you let out a soft laugh.
“True, but would that be so bad?” It takes you a moment to put together that you did just say that but it’s Sami who pulls away to look down at you.
“What, the questions? Or us dating?”
“Um…”
Well, now you’re kind of fucked. You really don’t know what to say to that. Or what you really want. You three are all pretty quiet about the dating aspect of your lives and ever since you’ve met the two of them, you all three dating hasn’t really seemed to happen. You’ve been on a couple of dates here and there, just like Finn and Sami had with other people. But you never really had any serious relationships. In your case, you felt like you didn’t need to. Finn and Sami were great substitutes for a boyfriend, just without all the romantic and sexual aspects to it.
“I mean, we can deal with all the questions. We get it all the time, regardless,” you point out.
“Yeah, but we’ve never really posted a picture like that.”
“You got me there.” You’re moving away from his embrace, moving to sit at the end of the bed. You can’t really think when his arms are around you. “But hey, we’ve always been platonic friends. And friends kiss each other’s cheeks all the time. It’s not like we’ve ever had more than strictly platonic feelings for each other…” you pause, glancing up at him. “Right?” The last word is soft, and your heart is beating fast. Because fuck, of course your big mouth and actions would cause problems for everyone. Can nothing ever go right?
It’s Sami’s turn to go silent and he’s not looking at you and this is where you feel a little worried. “Sami?”
He’s rubbing the back of his neck now and letting out a breath. “Can’t really agree with you about that.” And you’re blinking at that.
“What?”
“Can’t really say that I don’t have just platonic feelings for you anymore. Or Finn, for that matter.”
“Well shit.”
That hangs in the air for awhile, the only sound in the background is the voices coming from the television. And then you realize how awkward Sami looks and he was being honest with you, so you have to be honest with him.
“My feelings for the both of you haven’t really been platonic in a long time, either, Sami.”
He's looking at you in shock and now you're both just awkwardly staring at each other. It's never been this way before and you're a little worried. “Well what are we going to do about it?” You ask softly.
Sami opens his mouth to speak but before he can say anything your phone is ringing. You scramble for it and you see Finn’s name on the screen for FaceTime. You glance up at Sami before answering it.
“Hey, Finn,” you greet, fixing a smile on your face even though you’re sure it’s not the best. And of course, the grin that was plastered on his face fades as soon as he looks at you.
“Hey, love. What’s going on? Where’s Sami?” He’s concerned, you can tell, and you hesitate before moving over to sit next to Sami so you both can see Finn and he can see you both.
“I’m right here,” Sami says, with a fake grin of his own and a wave.
“What’s wrong?” Finn asks, and you glance up at Sami before sighing.
“We just kind of realized some things, that’s all. And we’re not really sure how to go about it,” you inform him. Sami makes a sound of agreement, and you bite your bottom lip. You wish Finn was here and in person, because it’d make things so much easier, but you weren’t lucky enough for that. He was still getting his strength back up, training, working his ass off to join you and Sami back on the road again. It was soon, you knew, but it wasn’t soon enough.
“What is it?” He’s glancing between the two of you and you can tell he’s confused and worried and you feel so bad, honestly.
“Well, we started off with the fact that we’re going to get a bunch of questions of if we’re dating, her and I, because of that photo. But then we kind of got into the fact that we don’t have platonic feelings for the both of us anymore. Or for you, for that matter. So we’ve managed to get our way into a giant cluster fuck,” Sami says.
Finn lets out a breath, almost sounding like he’s been punched in the chest, and you glance away, staring down at the hand in your lap. “It just kind of happened. Like, if I’m being honest, the fact that I’ve wanted more than friendship between the both of you for ages just kind of hit me out of nowhere. I don’t remember when it happened but it did. And now Sami and I are kind of stuck and we’re sorry that we got you into this mess with us, but…”
Well, you’re not sure why you’re bringing Finn into this, you and Sami both like each other, but it’s completely up to Finn on how he feels and you wouldn’t be lying if you hoped he had some feelings for the both of you, too. You’ve mentioned poly relationships before, and of course, Sami had asked a lot of questions about it, always wanting to know more. Finn had been pretty silent through the whole exchange that day, but he hadn’t looked turned off by it, just thoughtful. And now you were hoping he was thinking about that.
“No, no, I’m just… well, give me a second to take this all in…” Finn’s face is unreadable and you’re staring at him, anxiousness written all over your face. Sami’s reaching over to take your hand and you’re looking up at him for a moment, and he has much of the same look on his face as well.
You’re all silent for quite some time and it’s only broken when Finn begins to laugh. Your eyebrows are raising up in surprise and then furrowing together when he begins to shake his head.
“You know, when you brought up that poly relationship one time, I ended up picturing all three of us in one. I mean, we all act like we’re together anyway, right?”
Sami’s squeezing your hand and your heart is beating fast. “Yeah, we kind of do. Honestly, when you brought it up, I was thinking about all of us, too. That’s why I was asking all those questions. You seemed to know so much, and I thought you brought it up because you wanted to see how we’d react,” Sami says.
Here’s where you’re laughing and you’re looking down at your hand in Sami’s. “I kind of did, really. But I didn’t want to… fuck things up, so I didn’t go any further.”
“That’s what I was worried about, too. Because I love the both of you, and I don’t want to lose either one of you.” Finn runs his fingers through his hair, and you’re nodding in agreement.
“Well, we’re not gonna lose each other. I love you,” Sami pauses, kissing your forehead, “and I love you, Finn. We’re not gonna fuck this up.”
“So… we’re doing this?” You ask, first looking at Finn, then up at Sami.
Their answers are almost instantaneous.
“Fuck yeah we are,” comes out of Sami’s mouth.
“I don’t want anything else,” is coming from Finn’s.
“Okay… we’re doing this,” you whisper and then you’re letting out a soft laugh. “This wasn’t how I expected Valentine’s Day to go this year. Went from no romantic Valentine’s to two. How lucky am I?”
“Nah, we’re the lucky ones.” And then Sami’s cupping your cheek in your hand, turning your head so he can look you in the eyes. “And first things first, I’ve been wanting to do this for ages.” And then he’s bending so he can kiss you, lips soft against yours. You respond instantly, your other hand going up to tangle in his hair, the other still holding up the phone so Finn can see.
“Fuck, I wish I was there with you two. Kissing the both of you…” You’re pulling back, biting your lip, and then giggling.
“We’re leaving tonight. We’ll be back home tomorrow morning. And then we can kiss as much as we want,” you point out.
“Tomorrow can’t come soon enough,” Finn comments, and then Sami’s pressing a kiss to your cheek.
“I agree. But hey, does this mean I get you both as Valentine’s now?” Sami’s asking, his voice hopeful, and you and Finn laugh.
“I guess we don’t have to go to war, now, do we, love?”
“Nah. Truce?”
Finn’s heaving a huge sigh, but then he winks at you. “As long as I get to kiss him first. Only fair, right?”
“Very fair. He’s a very good kisser, just so you know,” you say, reaching up to tug at Sami’s ear. He’s blushing and you’re cooing at him.
“Shut up,” he’s muttering, and you’re leaning up to kiss him.
“Hey, I just thought of something,” Finn pipes up and you’re both turning to look at him. “We won’t forget our anniversary, now, right?”
All three of you end up laughing, and you know, deep down in your heart, that you’re all going to be together for a long time.

What we learned from WWE Money in the Bank 2017
WWE’s current strategy is to upset its fans, and it probably works better in some ways than others.
Money in the Bank has come and gone, and people are angry for a lot of different reasons. Some of those reasons are valid! Some are because their favorite didn’t win. We’re here to sort it all out and figure out what we’re supposed to have taken away from the SmackDown-exclusive, ladder-based show.
Carmella defeats Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Natalya, and Tamina thanks to James Ellsworth, who is not a woman, in the first-ever women’s Money in the Bank ladder match
You’re going to want to take a seat for this one. So, I get what WWE was trying to do here. Carmella is a cowardly heel who often gets assists from her friend who is a boy, James Ellsworth, who is also a coward but knows his role as Guy Who Distracts Or Takes Punches For His Friend. Having Ellsworth climb the ladder, bring down the briefcase, and drop it into the hands of a barely-aware Carmella works in the sense that it gets everyone really mad at him, at Carmella for being okay with winning that way, and so on.
The problem here is that this was the first-ever women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, propped up repeatedly by WWE as a historic outing. Unless they’re very young, fans are aware that there is a writer making these decisions for who wins and who loses and how it all goes down. Because of that, people are much more upset at WWE’s creative team for having a man win this supposedly historic match for a woman than they are at Carmella or Ellsworth for what was clearly an unsportsmanlike act we’re supposed to be mad at.
It’s tone deaf, and they can never go back and change the fact they had a man bring down the briefcase. This moment in time is ruined: there’s no shining clip to flash back to on a future WWE Network special with a woman hoisting the briefcase overhead after taking it down from its harness, and that was what we were supposed to get here, even if that woman was heel Carmella. Even if she had climbed the ladder to take it down because Ellsworth had simply pushed Becky off the ladder instead of then climbing it himself. It still would have been her!
However... WWE also did this on purpose, and there is much more of this angle to come. All of WWE that isn’t Carmella and James Ellsworth is (story line) furious about this. SmackDown commissioner Shane McMahon and general manager Daniel Bryan already said they plan to address this on Tuesday, and they might not have to if Natalya and Tamina and Becky and Charlotte and Sasha and Nia and so on all decide that murder is justified here.
So! While that moment in time is ruined, taken away from women who have waited far, far too long for even a shred of equality in WWE’s presentation of wrestling, the show has already moved on to the next stage. This can be an unfortunate (avoidable!) mistake and also include an entertaining and even satisfying conclusion to the story it started to tell.
Will that happen? It goddamn better.
What we learned: Besides the above? That this and other stipulation matches need to be a staple for WWE’s women, because they are killing it (and each other), even when the outcome is questionable.
Also, props to Carmella for rolling with it.

The Usos lost on purpose to the New Day because they are not dumb
This was hard for audiences to take because it meant Money in the Bank began with two goofy finishes meant to anger fans, but in a vacuum, this was the right end to this SmackDown Tag Team Championship match.
The Usos thought they were just going to crush New Day, and honestly, that was a fair belief. The Usos have busted ass both figuratively and literally while they’ve been heels on SmackDown, and New Day of late has spent more time making jokes than having matches where they look threatening. When it turns out that the New Day were apparently just resting up for the ass-whooping they delivered on Sunday, the Usos jointly agreed it was time to bail.
What we learned: This feud is not over, and if Sunday’s match is any indication, that’s great news. New Day looked as inspired as they ever have as in-ring performers, and that’s no small thing given how much of their popularity comes from their mic work instead. The Usos continue to be so much better as heels than they ever were as faces, and aborting this title match when they realized defeating New Day was easier said than done means we might even eventually get ourselves a situation that the Usos can’t walk away from.
Naomi defended the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Lana
Lana had some pretty old-school ring work going on, as she spent a lot of time trying to ground the high-flying, fast-paced Naomi. It was a successful strategy for much of the match, but it became clear that she didn’t have the second gear she needed to put Naomi away the longer the affair went on. It also didn’t help that she let herself get distracted by Carmellsworth as they came out with the briefcase mid-match to let both competitors know they were officially in the women’s main event scene whenever they felt like it.
What we learned: This was one of the only positive outcomes of a night devoted to heels doing heel things, as Naomi maintained her status as the only face champion in the entire company wait hold on seriously? Man, SummerSlam might be all faces all the time this year, just to restore balance to the galaxy.
We also learned that Lana is competent in the ring, and that given her performance and loss, probably isn’t going to stick around the title scene for long, if any longer at all. That’s fine, though! The announce team spent the entire match putting Lana over as better than anyone had any right to expect, so the lesson to be taken away from this match was that she’s ready to participate in a division that laughed at the idea of having her.
WWE.com
Also that her ring gear makes her look like she just came off the set of a 1950s space-themed B-movie.
Maria Kanellis returned to WWE with her husband, Mike Kanellis, and they are in love
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees I am so ready to hate these two hell I already do who is going to punch these wonderful bad people first
Jinder Mahal defended the WWE World Championship against Randy Orton because Orton let him take a nap in the middle of the match, have you never watched wrestling before, Randy, what the heck
This was shockingly a pretty good match, as Jinder Mahal and Randy Orton had their best interaction together to date. And also maybe their last interaction. Hopefully their last one. Listen, this was good, but I don’t want to get greedy, okay?
Jinder looked like he was going to lose — Orton even got a visual pin, but Mahal’s cohorts, the Singh Brothers, made sure to put their main dude’s foot on the ropes to break the count. They were kicked out of the match, so instead of making their way to the back, they made sure to cause enough damage to allow Jinder to recover: they taunted Orton’s dad at ringside and grabbed him, causing Randy to exit the ring and throw them around like they weighed nothing. Which, to 6-foot-5 Randy Orton, they probably do not.
Orton got back in the ring after Mahal had time for a nap and a massage and a refreshing drink, and immediately ate Jinder’s finisher, ending the match.
What we learned: Randy Orton has been around forever, but the voices in his head can still convince him that losing matches is worth the distraction of harming someone else.
We don’t know who Jinder will face next — maybe Orton again at Battleground, allowing Mahal a fresh feud for SummerSlam? We’ll probably have a better sense of this on Tuesday, though.
The Fashion Police defeat The Ascension, who took credit for destroying their office
I gotta say, I don’t know if I believe The Ascension actually destroyed the office of Breezango and attacked them, or if they just want to claim that they did because it was an easy way to make it onto a pay-per-view. My money is still on American Alpha turning heel and beating the hell out of both teams to let everyone know who is actually responsible for all of this.
What we learned: I’m still incredibly happy when the Fashion Police are allowed to thrive, even if it’s against The Ascension in a cooldown match buried during the back-end of a pay-per-view.
Baron Corbin defeated AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Dolph Ziggler, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn to win the men’s Money in the Bank briefcase
This match was perfect. Baron Corbin didn’t make an entrance, instead opting to come in behind Shinsuke Nakamura to beat the heck out of him during his own. That took arguably the most dangerous opponent out of the proceedings until late, which accomplished two things: everyone else got to shine before super-powered Nakamura returned late in the match, and it helped build up the idea of an eventual feud between Corbin and Shinsuke.
WWE.com
Nakamura had an opportunity to win when he reentered the match, too, but decided instead that he wanted to regular wrestle AJ Styles. Now, Styles vs. Nakamura is really anything but regular, but you’re supposed to climb the ladder, boys! Man, even James Ellsworth understands that.
Corbin took advantage of everyone else being destroyed by each other and Nakamura and brought down the case for himself. Nakamura should feel cheated, Styles should feel cheated, and the fans should feel cheated — except, like, in the good “he’s a bad guy who won” way, not the You’re Ruining History way they feel about Ellsworth winning for Carmella.
What we learned: Corbin is unlikely to challenge Jinder Mahal for the title, but then again, Corbin has no love for either heels or faces, and if any heel were to go after another heel for the title, it’d be Baron. Plus, maybe that would give Jinder an opportunity to flesh out more of his face side — he’s been a bit of a tweener in some promos, and you’d have to think the crowd would side with him over Corbin if he leans into it. Right?
Chances are good that Corbin will hold onto the case for some time, which will inevitably setup Corbin vs. Nakamura for the WWE World Championship even further down the road. Now there’s a sentence that you never would have imagined seeing just two years ago.
