you and the triplets been wanting to have some better and new hangouts, that’s when you guys all got a notification from a school groupchat with over hundreds of kids in it. “ PARTY HOSTED AT JONAS LENNEL’S 986 ST “ you smirked reading the message knowing how much fun you guys would have there. jonas lennel, the best football player on the team also the most craziest person you’d ever meet, he wasn’t afraid of anything. but despite the fact you rejected him last year on valentine’s day.. he seemed cool.

“guys we HAVE to go.” nick says, “fuck yeah! it’s jonas lennels we gotta go.” chris agrees. an hour later everyone’s ready.

chris’s hand is surprisingly still on your waist, but you remind yourself, it’s just pretend. after a while chris asks if you’d like a drink. you refuse as you’d like to be sober just in case anything does happen.. supposedly with chris. you guys dance around a bit and whatever until chris goes to the bathroom leaving you alone. nate is with the football team taking shots and playing.. poker? and madi is with the group of a bunch of gossipers. u sit at the island in the kitchen. “hey.? where’s your boyfriend, pretty girl?” jonas says coming up to you. “u-um..? excuse you? leave me alone..” you say. “cmon.. leave the past in the past.. you know what you want y/n and you want it bad.” jonas says as he brings your chin up to look up at him. “jonas leave me alone..” you say in defense. “i’m not gonna leave you alone until i-“ jonas gets interrupted as someone pushes him off you. it was chris.

you gasp. “ she said leave her the fuck alone, jonas.” chris says as he holds the collar of jonas shirt putting him against the wall. you get up from your seat and tell chris to calm down & it’s okay. i mean chris was always protective over you since your younger and much shorter than him but you’ve never seen him act out like this. chris leaves jonas alone as jonas gets lost in the crowd. “what was all that about huh?” chris says with a hint of jealousy in his tone. “what was what all about?” you question. “i don’t know? what was jonas saying to you..?” chris questions you back, “i don’t know.? he asked me where my boyfriend was and i guess he was referring to you but it’s nothing important just forget about it.” you respond. “mmm yeah alright let’s head upstairs.” chris says, “for what?” you say a bit confused. “i need to get high to calm down y’know? before i beat jonas’s ass, actin all tuff & shit.” you chuckle after chris says that. “what are you waiting for ?” he says as he stands up holding his hand out as you sit on a stool. you grab his hand as he helps you down, leading you upstairs.

you guys get upstairs as he heads to a balcony. you stand infront of the doorway to the balcony. “what’s up? you gonna come here or not?” chris says as he looks down at everyone at the backyard. “i mean.. should we really be up here?” you question as you’re a bit skeptical. “that’s not the y/n i know, come on it’ll be fine. trust me, ma. either way im here with you, you’ll be okay” he chuckles. you nod as you get onto the balcony standing behind chris as he smokes a blunt while sitting down. “no otha chair up here huh?” chris asks with his voice a bit raspy, you pause for a second as his voice is lowkey turning you on.. “oh uh yeah i guess not..” you say. “c’mere” chris says as he pats his lap. you desperately want to but you aren’t sure..

Your first crush was silly and dumb, being on your at-the-time best friend, Logan, or Podcast, as he was now mostly known. He always had a fascination for film and commentary, no wonder he had his own podcast.

You'd recently moved to New York, surprisingly, where Podcast also lived these days. You reconnected over social media and found out you'd be living near each other again like the good old days, and decided to meet up once you got comfortable in the new environment. And that's what had happened. You now await his arrival at Ray's Occult Books, where you skim through the bookshelves, reading each spine to see if any title jumped out at you.

The bell above the door jingles, causing you to look up to see who it is again. Him, thankfully.

He scans the store, looking for you. Ray nods his head toward you, leading him right to you.

He smiles as he approaches, stuffing his phone in his jorts pocket. "Hey"

"Hey," you reply, a soft smile pulling on the corners of your lips.

"Uh, how are you?" He asks, clearly struggling to make conversation.

"Good, I like your outfit," you reply, pointing out his colorful collared shirt. Even now, it reflected his curious and extroverted personality.

He glances down at his shirt, having forgotten what he was even wearing, "Oh, thanks! Uh, do you wanna go walk around or something?" He asks, glancing over at Ray, staring you two down at the counter.

"Sure"

You end up strolling around the city, catching up and talking about life until you retrieve to the basement of Ray's Occult Books, where Podcast was currently living for the summer. He already told you how he was supposed to be at summer camp and how he'd been consecutively lying to his mom. You already knew that was pretty in character for him. He wasn't great at fitting in and would've rather stayed with people he knew and his other actual friend, Phoebe.

You let some of the mini marshmallow pufts climb all over you, using you like a giant stool. A few use your arms as little slides. Logan takes a picture, framing your goofy smile while another mini puft jumps off your head and onto your shoulder.

A few slide down your left arm back onto the desk, then use your right hand as an elevator to go again. As you hoist a little group back up to your shoulder, Logan is now recording on his phone, laughing behind the camera.

"They're so cute," You happy-pout, looking at him for a moment.

Oh, how he wanted to pull the Uno reverse card on you with that, but he couldn't. He thought about it far too long, then backed out because he was too scared, but told himself it was just to late.

You look around his room, two of the little pufts sitting on your head like Remy in Ratatouille. You note all the posters and little trinkets and things around the room, making a weak assumption that he just liked collecting little random things.

You notice the orange lava lamp sitting on his bedside table, turned on, and providing an orange glow throughout that corner of the room. It shines off the side of Logan's face, creating an omniscient kind of glow that you can't look away from.

Denying you still had a crush on him would just make this even worse.

He looks back at you after saving the video to his photos and putting it in his Friends and Shenanigans folders, catching you quickly looking away. He raises an eyebrow, seeing your slightly jittery movements as you use your hand as an elevator for the mini pufts again. They don't keep it a secret though, 'oo'ing and 'ah'ing and bouncing on your shoulders and head.

You can feel your face flushing, attempting to hide it by not looking back at him.

The mini pufts land back on the desk, skattering behind the array of glass jars. You look back at him, seeing he's already looking at you. He's close, closer than you remembered, you felt closer to him, really.

You look down at the mini pufts at your feet, wondering if you'd zoned out as they slid you across the floor. You look back up at Logan, giving you that same soft look you were giving him.

Look, what a funny, simple word. There was no other word for that almost hypnotizing gaze shared between the two of you. There was so much tension. So much so that it was killing the mini pufts. They wanted to shove you into each other to just kiss already.

"I think we're alone now," He quietly speaks, glancing down at the desk where the mini pufts had flee'd from.

The beating of your hearts was the only sound as you pressed your hands against his jawline, his hands slinking down to your waist. You press your lips to his for a moment, then again and again before properly pulling away.

He opens his eyes, a grin painting his face. He pecks your lips once more before he knows you'll say that you have to leave.

"I have to go, I think my mom's waiting outside"

"Okay"

He watches as you stumble up the basement stairs, your face flushed. A smile still tugs at his lips, cheeks a light shade of pink.

The mini pufts come out from hiding and cheer him on, then flick the lights off to reveal colorful LED lights and a disco ball. He sighs with a pout, unable to hide the joy behind it.

"Okay, okay, party's over. We have an episode to record"

Hello~ anything more that you'd like to share about the midnight romance in hagwon? Its audience on Tumblr (for now) is not big now. The lack of comments is killing me because I think we had various topics to discuss on in 2 episodes.

i used to like, really analyze and get really obsessed with shows but it wasn't really healthy for me tbh and that habit kinda stopped when i got deeper into my faith.

i still notice stuff tho so:

midnight romance in hagwon is not a show for people who are not into character-driven pieces. every character in this show has a story and, even if they are not as central to the story as the main characters, every one has a history and everyone gets their due. all the characters matter in this show and there is no such thing as a filler scene because every scene is meant for the viewer to understand the world that is currently being built. as someone who can only really write character-driven stories, this is my jam and butter. also, people who like shows that tell you to your face what's going on will not like this show. these people are ACTORS. every micro-expression matters. every glance of the eye is meant to signal a change in thought. people are obsessed with wi ha joon (as they should be tbh), but jung ryeo won EATS as the female lead and alot of people are kinda hating on her after the second episode. if you don't know media literacy, please do not watch this show. actually scratch that. this is a great show to learn about media literacy. if you dont CARE about media literacy, pls do not touch this show. this is not a show for foreigners - this is clearly a korean drama and everything is interconnected. the romance is in the background for now and we are smack-dab in education system jargon. as someone who knows nothing about the education system in korea, i still can pick up context clues and i am willing to listen to viewers who either experienced the education system or j know their research for things that don't make sense to me. if you are not willing to be patient, don't want a background romance (at this point), idk don't want the plot to be about the actual setting (which is so weird ngl yall), then this might not be the show for you.

okay enough with the rant.

the visuals of this show are absolutely beautiful. people, places, the way things are shot - everything is meant to feel real and like slice of life because we are literally watching someone's life!!! there's not much of a focus on the past rn, which i LOVE, because the viewer is forced to be present with the characters!!! CAN YOU HEAR ME SCREAAAAMING RN??

as for actual topics in the show like my thoughts on pyo sang sub, the incident that seo hye jin clearly went through and talked around in episode 2, lee jun ho's motivations to wanting to become an instructor, the lowkey beef between lee jun ho and choi sung gyu (?), then like. i need more time. but i would love to talk about those topics because they interest me so much! are there any topics you wanted to talk about in particular? i would love to dive into them with you :)

i’m pretty sure it’s just “psychosis” but i’ve heard my mom use “psychotic episode” when she experiences it, so i’m not really sure 😭

to be honest, this just started becoming a big problem a few weeks ago, so i’m still figuring out all the details, but it’s definitely mainly at night and i usually get the most freaked out when i’m wide awake

but i’ve been hearing things for about 3 years, always at 4 am ofc 🙄

it could be the tv running, or someone screaming my name (not my favorite one), a loud creak, people talking, shuffling, etc

but the seeing things is very new to me

it started with me confusing the little dark spots all over my carpet for bugs, which left me stranded on my bed for two hours ‘cause i kept seeing them move (there was nothing there, trust me i asked many, many people 😭)

i’ve always been the type of person to see a shadow in my room and conjure up the scariest shit imaginable ‘cause my brain loves torturing me for some fucking reason, but they never really moved before now

luckily, the stuff only “moved” whenever i glanced away, and then when i looked back it was somewhere else (recently it’s been eyes)

it doesn’t even matter how many times i tell myself “the supernatural isn’t real ava” “your mind is fucking with you there’s literally nothing there”

‘cause another, new part of me is “but what if it’s real and i’ve been convinced it’s not” so that’s a whole thing

and no matter what, i just can’t snap myself out of it

sorry i just realized how much i vented 😭

psychosis is different for everybody though, so i can only really speak on my experiences, not anybody else’s
