Do you have any thoughts on “kaichou wa maid-sama?” You seem well read on shoujo!
I haven't actually read Maid-sama, though I did watch the anime a few years back. Love seeing Nobuhiko Okamoto get to be the love interest, thought the romance was pretty interesting, don't know if I'd heartily recommend it to anyone (sort of was a product of its time)
#asks#my shojo knowledge is mostly like...anime I pick up#that i am then inspired to imbibe through my eyeballs#plus a few I pick up here and there from friends who having been reading shojo much longer and with much more focus than me#i have a rotation for which manga i choose to pick up when#and i try to spread evenly between shojo/josei and shonen/seinen#as well as webtoon/manhwa#so i wouldn't say i'm deeply read but i do keep abreast of quite a few#when i watched maid-sama i was told the ending was kinda. meh#and after hearing what it was i decided not to read on. i might change my mind soon#since i think i'll be writing a maid-sama AU for bingo#so i'll at least be rewatching if not actually reading the manga#but shojo from this time LOVE to do the whole like. every MC becomes a SAHM at the end after not seeing their LI for a billion years#and like. listen. i'm a SAHM myself but it's like that tumblr post. not every woman's journey is being a mom. not every mom is the same#fruits basket made sense. but kamisama kiss? maid-sama? that's some japanese government interference friend

If he wasn't cold hearted and had some thoughtfulness he would have remembered or talked about Farlan and Isabel in flashbacks even after their deaths. But he acts as if they never existed, let alone died. The idea of opening an orphanage and taking children from the underground was Historia's idea, not Levi's. Levi just approved and supported it. The fact that he cares more about the tasks/orders than you, erasing your importance to him, does not mean that he will only throw you to option 2, it means that he will be willing to throw you into the mouth of a titan without even thinking about you. Regardless of your opinion or consent. That's treason and considering his order follower, he'd even keep secrets from you. If that's not betrayal, what is? All this means that he is not very loyal and you cannot have a healthy relationship with him. He is also very prejudiced and high-minded. For example, he dislikes weak people and generalizes every rich person as a greedy asshole. This is not the perspective of a thoughtful and caring human being. If Levi had a romantic relationship trope, it would be toxic relationship. I think any real man or fictional man would be more considerate and loyal than Levi. This must be one of the reasons why Isayama finds it strange to even ask "women?" about Levi and women. It is pure speculation to think that he would have a healthy and loyal relationship with him. To realize that be a better person than Levi, you either have to touch the grass and meet real people, or you have to stop being stuck in a fandom and look at other series/fandoms and discover the characters there, and get to know people and characters who look stoic like Levi, but who have more realistic potential to be more thoughtful, selfless, loyal, who will value you as a priority than Levi.
I'm feeling so lazy to write a huge answer so I'll keep it short.
Isabel and Furlan were shown in the OVAs and just like how the stories of other OVAs weren't mentioned in the main anime or manga, the topic of "no regrets" OVA was neglected too. That's a commercial thing in my opinion. But the one time when Eren, Mikasa and Armin were talking about the sea and Levi was listening to them quietly with a sad mood, that represents Levi remembering them.
About the orphanage, you yourself said that Levi supported it XD, so you admit he helped Historia too even when Levi got no benefits from it.
About the next fact, I truly disagree. That's a thing Levi would never do. He saved Mikasa twice and in the female titan arc, he even twisted his ankle. He will never play with people's life, he even hated Erwin because he used to do that. He has always hated "unnecessary" deaths. He would never throw a person into the titans mouth unless the person agrees and wants to die willingly for the betterment. Imagine Erwin is planning you to die in a process and he has no intention of telling this to you (though I don't think so he would do something like this) and Levi knows about this. Do you think he'll support it? If you still think so I would suggest you to re-read the manga and rewatch the anime, you haven't understood Levi's actual character yet.
In the battle of Shiganshina, he told Erwin that he'll charge towards the beast titan, ALONE (he didn't even care about his life, he was thinking about the life of his comrades) just so the others will be able to escape easily and later he supported Erwin's plan because since that was a situation were everyone was about to die. He thought by this he'll at least be able to save someone. Saving some life is better than everyone dying. He even tried to stop Hange (silently) when they sacrificed themselves. He saved Connie and jean in the final battles and lost his leg due to the process... You would still say that he would throw you in a titan's mouth?
Also you say that hiding classified plans and information is a betrayal? That's hilarious, dear. He would do it for your safety. What if someone kidnaps you just because you know about the plans? The less you know, the better. Just because you are the girlfriend of Levi Ackerman doesn't mean you can know about all the plans and classified information. Fix your morals.
Also dear anon, did you just say he hates weak people? When he fought during his whole life just to save them, the weak humanity from the titans????? Also I support Levi calling rich people "greedy assholes" because most of the rich people in AOT were actually described as "greedy assholes".
About the last topic we both know Levi is a "Famous as hell between women" character. That's why Isamaya never mentioned anything about Levi's sexualities and romantic interests. Also dear Isamaya likes to tease us so what you mentioned isn't something important.
At last I would like to say that Levi avoids being close with people. But once someone becomes dear to them, he'll do his best to save them. Sure he won't be lovey-dovey or sweet as sugar boyfriend, but he'll definitely support you and silently will show his love for you. We all know he's bad with his words so he'll show his love through work. He's a mature person after all!
That's it anon, have a nice day!

have any casual anime recommendations?? you seem to be into some cool stuff :0
HAHA Oh man what do I know! Hmm I'm not sure what makes an anime casual but I guess I'll just list some stuff I've enjoyed but never posted anything about lmao. So like I guess I post fanart for stuff all the time but these are fanartless from me lol
• Koko wa Greenwood! It's a 6 ep OVA? And it's all on youtube I think it's sssssuper cute and charming it's like a comfort watch for me
• Kodocha! Very cute and funny!
• lol BAKI! I only watched it so I could watch the Baki x Kengan crossover but I ended up liking it too lol. I was high when I watched all the Netflix episodes and I thought it was a comedy at first lol. Like a fighting themed comedy but I guess it's more like a really funny fighting anime? I guess I list it as casual cuz I can watch it with my brain turned off and it's so funny
• Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad. I watched it a long time ago idk if it counts as casual but idk! It stuck with me and I liked the music in it
• Initial D First Stage. Tbh I only liked first stage lol but it's really exciting and interesting imo! It inspired me to draw cars then I tried drawing some cars and I was really bad at it so I stopped right away but I like the show and the music is great ofc lol
• Mushishi! I recently watched all of it cuz I'm doing a Mushishi fan comic. I guess you'd call it episodic? Easy to watch it a bit at a time I guess :•)
• Jikuu Tenshou Nazca. Idk I'm only putting it here cuz it's short. It might be best known for being featured in the opening credits of Malcolm in the Middle lmao but idk it's bizarre and kinda fun? Actually tbh it's really boring but I keep rewatching it thinking it'll be cool. To me I added it because it's something I'll put on to watch in the background lmao. For some reason I really like the art style though and at least the premise is kind of interesting. It's all on youtube too lol
• Hana Yori Dango. I guess it's a really famous shoujo manga that inspired many live action adaptions but I only watched the anime lol. I really like the art and music. It's super dramatic and the relationships are toxic as fuck lmao but it's like soaps for weebs (me)
I'm gonna add a couple manga I really like 3 AM Dangerous Zone and Bartender! 3 AM has a live action I think but I only read the manga. I liked it cuz it was like a josei but with a male lead I actually find attractive lol. It's silly and cute! It's another of those things that I read for comfort lol. Bartender has an anime too. I guess a newer one came out this year? I watched the old one and it was kinda lacking but the manga is super comfy and easy to read little bits at a time :O)
I think most of these recs might not be very casual lol? oh well

I knowww I keep bitching vaguely about how shit JJK's ending was but like,, you always want to see a story end good right? Like, even as an old hyperfixation, I still kept up with it. Never missing a day, always reading the leaks before I could get spoiled. I dedicated a LOT of time being invested in the show, making friends because of the show, writing theories about the manga, and explaining to my friends the complex parts of the power system (because trust me, the Cursed Energy power system *does* make sense, it just has a lot of layers). I had a lot of love for it. Fuck it dude, I straight up rejected a sex offer to watch the JJK movie with some friends kajfhsghfjhgdkjfa LIKE,,,, I have no clue how to describe how much I loved the story! So to see the ending so blatantly rushed, half-assed, and dare I say, maliciously concluded (the disrespect for Gojo is insurmountable... I don't even care that much about the guy). It's really a kick in the teeth. It's a "fuck you" to the fans. It's just disrespectful to the story itself. There were many, many promises to the story that just never delivered. So many hints and Chekov's guns scattered around and in the end....none of those even mattered. They were laughed away. The story that was promised to us...never existed. Man, I'll just stick to rewatching Attack on Titan for like the 7th time, at least that one actually had care for the story it was trying to tell. At least the ending matched exactly what the story was meant to be, and the hints it dropped were delivered
#this bird speaks#ive been rewatching aot for a while cuz that anime was a large part of my childhood#*scratching the walls* I WAS THERE!!! I WAS THERE DURING THE HIATUS!!! I WAS THERE WHEN IT ENDED!!

Hey Chris and Jeremy ! This is my first ever ask on Tumblr and the second time I've written into a podcast.
I'm very late to the party but I'm enjoying it nonetheless (this is about the pod in general, but also Supernatural). Still His Kingdom Keeps was recommended to me towards the end of last year when I'd literally just started my own Merlin rewatch ! Feeling quite alone during my first year of uni the Merlin rewatch was necessary, and it was great to meet and get to know you guys !! As someone who is a sad nerd, I really enjoyed your company (although I was quite horrified when you revealed how old you both were in one ep lol. The thought of me (a 20 year old girl) laughing her tits off at home alone to two middle(?) aged American men, really weirded me out. You'll be glad to hear that my friends all disagreed with this), because I must always create parasocial relationships with my fave podcast hosts :)
Anyway, I got to the end of SHKK and couldn't really part ways with you guys, and obvs heard you mention the Supernatural pod, so thought I'd hop on over to that. I've never seen any of Supernatural, but being in fandom I knew of Destiel. As I type this, I'm listening to ep.30 which is part way through season 4, so I'm making moves ! I don't know if I'll end up listening to all the episodes (a lot of people on Tumblr say to stop watching at the end of season 5, so I suppose I could stop there ?) but so far I'm enjoying it so much. I also don't think I'll ever actually watch the show because I'm a pussy and don't like gore/horror etc.
But I just wanted to send a message to let you know how much of a positive effect on people (you've heard it before, and no one will read this, but I wanted to put my two pence in !). It's stupid how much joy you bring and how much love I have for you. And who knows, maybe I'll get round to Non Human Biologies, even though again, I've never seen X-Files.
I never know how to end these...
Oh, I will also say, I adore the outtakes (kinda wish more pods I listen to did this !) even though AGAIN I know nothing about video games, anime/manga. I just like hearing you guys chat :)
Thanks for helping to make a dull girl's, dull life a bit brighter <3
Much love, Molly xx (she/her, 20, from UK)
Alright so first off, Chris isn't middle aged. Or at least he wasn't when we started (since then I've stolen all his youth).
Second: there's SO MUCH good Supernatural after S5 don't listen to the haters.
Finally, thank you SO MUCH for the kind words. It means so much to Chris and I when we get messages like this. Its still WILD to me that our dumb podcast about hunks (they're ALL about hunks) can have such an effect on people. We love you so much!!!! AHHHHHHH

I was working onnthis HUGUE Kunikida - Dazai - Chuuya "annalyze" so I'm rewatching some part of the anime and re-reading the only tome of the manga that I have and.
I forgot how violent Kunikida was wtf ?? T0T
I had even done a meme :
BUT YOU KNOW WHAT ??
I'LL CHANGE IT !
Like in first ep/chapter he say to Atsushi that he will break his arm if he don't answer his question. He also kicj Dazai's ass and choke him and insult him in such clever way it actually hurted Dazai (we can see it in the mangas) at least a little bit.
And his voice actor is so INVESTED
Like yeah I got you he's like that with Dazai (and I mean, Dazai is...Something and he like being strangled by Kunikida ??) But this guy need to CHILL

Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War - two students are in love with eachother but refuse to "lose" and admit their feelings. Instead, they have increasingly convoluted plans to get the other to confess.
Okay I will admit. this Is a romance and also ive only seen the anime. So actually this would fall more under anime recs bcs the english dub voice acting is AMAZING. Anyway tho its a comedy that I really enjoy. Its about romance but like. Idk I dont read/watch romance often so I cant say "its not like the standard romance plot". But its less about them Falling In Love and more about them Overthinking Everything And Being Silly. ALSO !! tho it takes a bit, it does go into the characters a lot. Very centred on the characters relationships !! Not just romantically between the main two, but in general.
Why I think you would like it: similar in "vibe" to nozaki-kun. Funny!! But it has its moments of seriousness and it understands its characters well.
Mushishi - Eye Have Not Read This im sorry 🙏 i havent even seen the anime so I dont actually know much about it but ive been recced it so many times I figure I should pass it to you.
If u like Natsume's Book of Friends you'll enjoy this. Genuinely I think this is my strongest rec for you on this list even tho I've never seen it. I really do think u wld enjoy 👍
Insomniacs After School - IM REALLY SORRY I HAVENT READ THIS ONE EITHER. I HAVE IT KN GOOD AUTHORITY U WOULD LIKE IT I JUST CANT GUVE ANY DETAILS. BCS IDK REALLY.
"Two young teens who can't sleep find companionship with each other. They must learn to overcome any challenges and figure out what's important to them."
Why I think you would like it: Ive heard its similar to Skip to Loafer in a way!!
Girls Last Tour - Two young girls explore a post-apocolyptic wasteland. They go through abandoned buildings and old towns in their journey, battling solitude eith only eachother
This one is a little sad. More likeeee. Meloncholy, yk? I dont have much to say about it. Very good manga.
Why I think you would like it: The character relationship between the two girls seems like something you would enjoy.
Look Back - to be super honest its been over a year since I read this I dont fully remember what happens. Theres this girl wjo draws comics for her elementary school newsletter. Shes funny so every1 really likes her and her comics. at some point another comic appears, but its actually just four panels of background art. Its so beautifully drawn that the other students begin to fawn over it. Angry kver her loss of attention, the first girl goes to meet the girl making these new comics (The background girl doesnt go to school, she works at home). Thr end up becoming friends and the story shows how their friendship develops and changes, growing closer and growing further apart.
The manga is p short for. a manga but its actually just a Really Long oneshot. Its rlly good. not much else to say.
Why I think you would like it: Very similar to Blue Period. About art and how it reflects people. Also very strongly driven by the relationship between the two girls.
The Girl From The Other Side - ive been typing so much i really cant give a whole review on this. Similar to WHA. kinda. beautiful art. read it u will enjoy it
Kaguya-sama I watched the first two seasons of! Maybe I should read the manga too, I did think it was fun
Mushishi I watched maybe the first episode of, but I should definitely try again,,, I don't remember anything about it lol
I've read Insomniacs After School!!! I'm definitely not caught up though, and I've been planning on watching the anime,,,
Girls Last Tour I,,, might have seen? At least part of it a long time ago. I'll have to rewatch/read the manga
Look Back sounds really interesting,,, I'll check that one out!!!
I'm actually reading The Girl from the Other Side in Portuguese rn lol I have volumes 1-5 on my shelf

hiiii. this is kinda random but just wanted to say I'm starting to understand you going anime only for SxF. I watched S1 blind, then bcs I craved more I read the manga. Now bcs I know what happens, watching S2 has less exciting effect for me (?) Don't get me wrong I'm still so excited and the animation/voice is stunning, but it would be nice to experience the story for the first time again. anyway it's impressive you got to stay committed to anime only! sorry for rambling in your inbox ;-;
Hi, and no worries, I appreciate the message! Ramble in my inbox whenever :D
And yeah, the feeling you describe is exactly what I fear I'll feel if I go manga first anime second. It even happened with the bullet in butt date episode, since I'd read the chapter already, it impacted my enjoyment of it a bit. I ended up comparing it a lot to the manga and this interfered with my immersion. Funny thing is, any time I read a chapter that I'd already watched in anime, this didn't happen. I was able to enjoy anime and manga both, without interference.
That said, the one other chapter I'd already read before it was adapted was the one where Nightfall visits the Forgers for the first time. While once again I ended up comparing the anime to the manga a lot, after a couple months that feeling went away and now I can enjoy rewatching the episode without making any comparisons. So I'm hoping that after a while I'll be able to enjoy the bullet in butt date episode on its own merit, and maybe it will feel the same for you!
I think it's a testament to the quality and heart of the story, that we want to experience it for the first time all over again. If you're caught up with the manga it'll probably take a few years for the anime to catch up, but if you want to also go anime-only I will probably be here for... well, a long time 😂 one of the worst parts about being anime only is that I have next to no-one to talk about it, and I can't search for posts here or anywhere else because most fans read the manga and avoiding spoilers is impossible, even when you tell people you're avoiding manga spoilers. I'm pretty sure a few of my followers here secretly want to nudge me to catch up with the manga 🤣 So yeah, one of the things that kept me an anime only was the hope that I may provide some company to a fellow anime only 🤣
And look, I totally get you. I'm honestly surprised myself I made it all the way here and only indulged myself once, and only for a couple pages from a certain chapter after I saw some spoilers. When season one ended last December I actually expected I'd break and read through at least a couple arcs into the manga. So the temptation certainly isn't small!
I would say, find the way that makes you enjoy it more and take that. I enjoy the story told through anime more, but not when I get a ton of spoilers here and there, so I have to accept that I will have very limited interactions with fellow fans for years on end, as I don't see the story ending soon, and the anime will need one to two years (if not more) to catch up once the manga ends. So that's something to consider. On the other hand, keeping a distance from chapters you've already read may help you enjoy the respective episodes more. Like, the more time passes from a manga chapter you've read, the more immersed you may be by the adapted anime episode. Idk if you wanted advice, but I thought I could share some thoughts XD In any case, feel free to share with me whenever! I love talking about everything sxf <3

lys, hi. this video randomly popped up on my fb -- yes, it's the most accessible socmed platform where im from - feed (a friend shared it), and i just got so sad again.
https://www.facebook.com/share/v/neA4nN4tMTANdAwo/?mibextid=uSdriS
obviously, this is fiction, right? and i usually am so good at releasing it all out once im done internalizing it in my head. it's very stressful lol but i think it makes media content enjoyable, at least for this sort of media. the song isn't really something i've given a second listen - or even a full listen - but oh it works so well for this scene.
but i just get so sad, so incredibly sad whenever i think about canon eremika. as a sucker for well-meaning (lol) angst, their story was so beautifully written, but damn. i think i said this in an ask years ago...that i read your work as some sort of escapism, like 'oh it ends well for both of them' kind of thing. i dont ever do that with other anime/manga/fandom-centric entertainment etc; thinking about them just hurts a bit too much for an irl feeling. i need to think of them happy and flirty and cranky and just alive in that silly little place in my head reserved for media consumption. little nico doesnt hurt too
tbh, we cant really ask for canonical representations right? most writers dont write them that way anyway, but i feel like i could see canon eremika in your works, if they were ever given the chance to live out different lives in different worlds, haha. ig that's what happens when the emotional range has been fleshed out in canon material (tho at what cost??).
until know, i still cant laugh at those memes of mikasa developing an attachment to birds and whatnot because it's just really sad. lol like the dark humor doesn't work for me here.
anyway, that's all! i hope you're doing ok. maybe im just feeling blue because i just had a session of root canal treatment and the cost + post-session pain make me want to sob too. considering a dental implant after all this because if im going to go thru this, might as well do it for something that's guaranteed to last lifetime (with good bones & proper care ofc)
sending you my love, in the most non-weird way, if that's possible haha
AWW ANON SENDING U MY LOVE RIGHT BACK !!! I have never had a root canal but I think both my parents have and they fucking suck from the sounds of it, so wishing you a speedy recovery!!
oh god the fucking song tho 😂😭 i don't think ur alone, that song kind of hits different, I feel like I saw it on insta reels or something recently and I was definitely crying. I ALSO JUST CRY A LOT THO !! I was crying bc I watched the fast and the furious the other day , like who am I?? Media has the ability to bring it out in you!! Especialyl AOT!! ACTUALLY U KNOW WHAT THO IT WAS ANGEL BEATS THAT WAS MAKING ME SOB THE OTHER DAY, I ABSOLUTELTY SOBBED!!
I think I have emotionally removed myself enough from canon eremika that it doesn't phase me anymore, like I have not and likely will not rewatch AOT ever or any time soon at the very least because I just have no desire to put myself thru it bc I am simply too attached!
As far as me writing canon eremika goes, as I always say, never say never! So far, captain Eren is the closest I'm getting LOL! Altho I think i do have a few canon EM drabbles somewhere in the depths of my blog! I would like to write canon EM, but i don't know how i'd do it tbh. Like how I could spin a happy ending for them other than cabin EM which I did attempt but didn't finish as usual!! you never know what type of garbage I'll cook up tho 😂

hello! i saw your post about the katrielle layton manga and I am having a hard time finding any info online about it. Could I ask if you have anything to share in regards to it? thanks for reading this btw
Absolutely!
First off, an official French translation is available used on Amazon. That's what I got.
The artist and writer is Kahori Orito, who has done a few other series, including a pokemon manga.
The chapters are adaptations on cases 1-11, except case 9, and there's one manga original involving a missing dog. They aren't in the same order as the game. Instead, it's: (vol. 1) 1, 2, 8, 7, manga original, (vol. 2) 4, 6, 5, 3, 10, 11. The cases are very stripped down compared to the game and anime, but the pacing is pretty good, so it doesn't feel rushed, at least to me.
Kat is in a different outfit every chapter, not just game outfits either. Orito really likes putting Kat in different outfits, which is valid! Relating to that, within each chapter, there are a couple of bonus images of mostly Kat, 1 of Emiliana, and 4 of Ernest in different outfits that all look fantastic.
There are a couple of anime aspects, like Kat comparing cases to sweets, the specific Wight House hauntings (but the haunted mirror was included here ^v^), Kat getting a gift after finding Rex (but in the manga it's a plate), and a dog Sherl talks to for information looks more like Geowly than Yapper. Although Vic and Tim look completely different from the anime designs.
In the first volume, there are a couple of puzzle sections in between chapters, I might upload pictures of those later, actually. There's also a couple of short extra stories at the end, the first has to do with perfume, and the second involves the trio splitting a cute cake and Kat getting half of it because of course she does.
Okay, a couple of changes I found notable
In case 5, Ernest and Sherl just didn't go to the haunted house, and it was only Emiliana and Kat, and it was refreshing after rewatching the anime adaptation that doesn't have her in the case at all. The end of Case 5 was a Halloween costume party, and Hastings and the Lipskis were there. It was great.
In case 3, Seymour shoves Kat to the ground when she almost touches one of his projectors!
As far as I could tell, Case 8 didn't have the scavenger hunt. It was just a short tour as a distraction. I'm not 100% sure on that, though, because one of the little angle statues did show up.
Cesar's head actually looks kinda normal
I do plan to upload scans of the pages in a month or two when I'll have access to a scanner (I also have plans to figure out translating, but that's obviously more time-consuming).
Let me know if you have any other questions! ^v^

Thanks if you want to answer....
Oh this might be get long because I love blabbing on about things I like, but if you're ok with that I'm happy to answer! (also disclaimer idk if anything here will be like. DEFINITIVE all time favorite but all of my answers will at least be within the realm of being one of my favorites lol).
Favorite female character: I just did a Chihayafuru rewatch and forgot how much I really liked Chihaya!! I relate a lot to her of having this kind of hyperfocus/passion for things I love and losing myself to it a little bit, and also how she navigates that passion with the relationships she's formed. I kinda hc her as neurodivergent like me lol but I think she's such a good protagonist!
Favorite male character: Going through heavy Sanji brainrot right now so I gotta go with him lol. You guys know my feelings, but the fun thing about Sanji is how deeply layered he is and how you can just keep picking at him. He has such deep flaws, he can be kind of insufferable but at the same time so caring and good, he really fascinates me.
Favorite animanga: God it has to be One Piece, and I hesitate in saying that because I got into it so recently, but man. Don't get me wrong, it's flawed, I can bitch about the things I don't like, but at the end of the day, there are very few things I've loved to this extent. The themes and the characters and the world and just everything works so well and is filled with such love and care and attention. And it just keeps getting better, which is ridiculous, this thing has been going on for 25 years and Egghead is one of the best arcs in the series. I have full trust that it will stick it's landing and it will be unlike anything we've ever seen.
Animanga I'm currently enjoying: I've been making my way through Blue Lock, it's a lot of fun! I finished the one season that's available and now I'm reading the manga. More of an action series than a sports series lmao but the characters are really fun to watch, it's intense, and it's pretty funny in how intense it is lmao.
Animanga that exceeded all of your expectations: One Pi-No we're going with something else lmao. I'm gonna say JJK actually! I actually gave the first episode a try around the time it aired and it just...did not click lol. Didn't watch more, and then one day I had nothing to do and gave it another try, and I wanted to smack myself, because I think JJK has a great first episode/opening. REALLY liked the first season and then read HI and Shibuya and was just shocked by how good it was, it really surprised me in how amazing those arcs are.
Unpopular animanga you really love: Not sure if this means unpopular as in "guilty pleasure" or "underrated" so I'll answer both lol. I still think it's good but Kill la Kill is definitely a guilty pleasure as well for me, it has a lot more fan service than I'm usually comfortable with and I would undeniably embarrassed to be seen watching it lmao. In terms of underrated, for manga I would say I want Sweat and Soap to be a lot more popular than it is (begging god everyday for an anime adaptation). For an anime, Mushishi definitely is critically acclaimed but I don't think enough people have watched it, it just has such a unique and calming atmosphere, even with the melancholy. It's a good intro anime too for people who are just starting out as well.
Favorite Romance: Oooh maybe a three way tie between Yona of the Dawn, Fruit's Basket, and Kaguya Sama Love is War. All three are so different lol, but maybe something I like about all of them is that (apart from fanfiction) I don't usually like reading straight up romance, there's gotta be something else too. With Yona it's the fantasy elements/big plot, with Kaguya it's the comedy, and Fruba is mainly a romance but it focuses on all the interpersonal relationships, not just the romantic ones. But it kind of simmers in the background until later on it overtakes the story, that's honestly the good shit.
Favorite Fantasy: I might just have to give a list here lmao - Revolutionary Girl Utena, One Piece, FMAB, ATLA, Yona of the Dawn, HxH, Dungeon Meshi, Lord of the Rings, PJO, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, Discworld, Mushishi, The Tales from Earthsea (NOT the ghibli movie lmao the book), and if I can include video games: All of the Legend of Zelda series, Hollow Knight, Hades, Super Mario Galaxy
Favorite sci-fi: Everything Everywhere All at Once, or maybe Stein's Gate as well! Oh Neon Genesis Evangelion too.
Favorite drama: Shōwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjū, I also watched Succession and enjoyed that a lot too (kinda a comedy too but more of a drama imo). Omg I can't forget Monster either (is it a drama? idk close enough)
Favorite comedy: Hmm one I haven't really talked about is Hinamatsuri. Omg I should rewatch that, it really is hilarious lmao I love it a lot.
Favorite anime movie: Princess Mononoke, Your Name, and One Piece Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island. OH I really like Promare as well!
Next in my watchlist: That's the question lmao. Considering a rewatch of either Haikyuu or ATLA, and I am currently watching Dungeon Meshi, but I want to maybe watch a longer series next? I would take recs though!
Next in my read list: After Blue Lock, I'll probs go back to my One Piece read and also do a Chainsaw Man reread, I am woefully behind and have forgotten pretty much everything rip. Also need to reread Yona at some point but I might wait til the summer for that.
Favorite antagonist: Kenjaku <3

I was reading your meta posts on how you're watching older thai bls to get an understanding of where they come from and looking at the works you've seen and yet to see, it makes me really see that somehow i managed to be there for the start and kinda rise of thai bl dramas, where we used to get (1) bl a year, skip seeing a lot of the growing pains drama live and now am back to bls when they're doing some of their best works and also so much quantity in bls to choose from and also finally start getting gls???
Like when you're like oh how it must have been to watch these dramas in 2016, I'm like not 2016, but 2017, but I WAS THERE with regards to sotus and sotus s.
And gods was i OBSESSED WITH KONGART at the time. And i personally think that sotus wouldn't be as fondly remembered for me personally, if sotus s didn't exist. Because for me, i really liked sotus s more and it's still the part (along with the our skyy ep) I've rewatched more over the actual SOTUS drama. That's also probably because i love seeing more established relationship in dramas lol
And while i can't comment on krust acting because it HAS been quite a while since i last rewatched sotus or sotus s, I'd say with regards to arthit, i like him a lot better in sotus s than in sotus. Do with that what you will lol
And i think it's a large part of how it was my first thai bl and the nostalgia of it is part of why i still look back on it fondly despite all the problems i can see in it now, looking back. Same with petekao in dark blue kiss and love me again.
Like when i came back to watching bls in 2022 (after a lengthy break of not watching them 2019-22) you what blew my mind the most? Not the quality of bls because that, i realised, AFTER i watched the shows. But the SHEER QUANTITY of them.
Like if you told the me that was watching sotus that something as awesome as February of this year where i had quality ongoing bl dramas to watch from MONDAY TO SATURDAY I'd be like don't be delusional that wouldn't happen EVER.
Oh how i love to be proven wrong and i see I'm yet again going off on an unrelated tangent.
I think that's part why ppl who started watching bls with 2gether look back at it so fondly despite i personally finding it a good bl but not worth rewatching.
Because that 1st bl nostalgia is a heavy drug.
And i think part of WHY i fell so heavily into sotus is BECAUSE it borrowed from the ye olde yaoi tropes, which i personally, liked reading about at that time. Plus it was what dominated the stories in the yaoi manga at the time! So as a naive teen, it was what I'd like because i had NOTHING ELSE in the yaoi section. I also read shoujo manga at the time and let's just say it wasn't doing too much better lol
And speaking from the perspective from an asian, living in an asian country myself, I discovered the existence of queer people via these yaoi manga (my country was and still is pretty queerphobic and it didn't help i was brought up in a kind of smaller town. Small by my country standard, western ppl would probably be shocked at the population in our small cities lmao) and eventually leading to my eventual discovery of my own queerness, these manga are a large part of at least the younger gen who have read such stuff in my country being at least less queerphobic. But that's a rant for some other time.
I'll stop with that train of thought before I go off more than i already have in your ask lmao.
Thanks for reading this slightly incoherent rambling in your ask lol
But anyways i hope you enjoy watching these dramas and I'll be looking forward to more of your drama reviews!
Oh my GOODNESS -- thank you SO, SO MUCH for sending this reflection my way! I so appreciate it!
As a kid of Asian immigrants in the States -- I SO appreciate hearing the thoughts of other Asians (and especially Asians in Asia!) watching these amazing shows that we love. And thank you for sharing your perspective in regards to your realizing your own queerness -- and how these dramas, and yaoi manga, helped you realize that and gave you artistic support. I think that's so incredibly important. Sending so many hugs to you -- art is amazing.
Regarding KongArt -- I am there with you. If it had been 2016, and I was a BL fan then, and I was LOOKING for a BL drama, I would have been ALL OVER that ship, and totally obsessed with it, because it was the first BL central/solo plot of a drama. (I likely would have also been far more obsessed with Phun and Noh in Love Sick, too, ha.)
My first ever-ever BL was 2019's What Did You Eat Yesterday/Kinou Nani Tabeta, and the ship of Shiro x Kenji will forever remain my favorite (not even withstanding that they're played by two of Japan's best actors of all time). I totally understand that the "1st bl nostagia is a heavy drug." Bad Buddy isn't my first Thai BL, but it was the first that truly wrapped me up in an analytical spiral, and I literally think about Bad Buddy and WDYEY on a daily basis. I love the feeling these shows give me by way of how smart and equitable they are.
Thanks so much for diving into my OGMMTVC project with me. I'm always taking recommendations. I may very well pick up SOTUS S and the SOTUS Our Skyy episodes, but only after I finish my main list -- I know that the fandom generally thinks those two pieces are better, but I still need a touch of a break from Krust, ha.
HUGS. What a wonderful reflection to read this morning. I so appreciate your note!

Hello, I am using my main account since I can't ask questions with my sideblog. Thank you again for the questions choices, they were all awesome: 2), 4), 8), 17), 32), 38), 46), 52), 61), 67), 73)
Thank you for the ask!! Interesting choices~
2) A character in Saiyuki that grew on you
I always like Goku. I don't know why I liked him when I was little, but the more I know his story the more I like him. I'm quite sad when people see him like a child, he sees so much more than it seems. I'm thrilled to see how sensei developed his character, specially in Even a Worm arc, and how sensei drew him much more mature in Blast. Not only Sanzo, but he's like the sun to me too :3 There are many characters that grew on me as I spent more time with Saiyuki, Sanzo, Koumyo, Tenkai, Jikaku, Gat…
4) Favorite member of Kougaiji’s group
Is Zakuro part of his group? Yeah? No? Then Instructor Wang it is. I'm… oddly attracted to eccentric old men lmao.
8) Which character do you really dislike?
This is a hard question, I never really dislike a character as they all have their background stories… If I have to choose though, Li Touten, probably, for using Nataku like that :/
17) How long have you enjoyed Saiyuki?
I watched Reload and Reload Gunlock on TV when I was in elementary school, and you know they used sensei's art for the ending songs? I was so captivated that I searched for the manga. That's the first time I really worked myself to search for something. I just realized it's been around 20 years… omg
32) Do you enjoy writing/drawing/creating fan works for the Saiyuki fandom?
Absolutely! I write and draw and make covers, also translating the songs to English. I used many websites and you can see them here. I wish I have the energy to create more… at least to finish the ones I started..
38) Do you binge read the entire series or read selected chapters?
Sometimes I binge read, sometimes I read selected chapters. Mostly I read selected chapters when I'm in the mood!
46) If [character] died, what do you think they’d be reborn as?
Since you didn't give me the character, I'll go with Goku for the next two questions. By the way, I don't think Goku will die soon, I headcanon him aging very slowly… I wrote a fanfic about this, where Goku lives in the modern world lol. But anyway, I kinda imagine him reborn as a celestial being, much like Jeep, with powers and big responsibility for the world. A dragon maybe? I never thought about this before actually so I just type whatever pops up in my head lol
52) What are 3 tropes that describe [character]?
Amnesiac Hero :(
Innocent but Powerful
Bottomless Pit, as they always say
61) Do you seek out spoilers or avoid at all cost?
I don't mind spoilers, sometimes it helps me to get into the story better.
67) What’s something you think would improve the series?
Remake all the animated versions, with quality. Let's say, by Platinum Vision, the one who produces Reload Blast. Honestly, I like Saiyuki so much, but I don't rewatch it that much, besides Burial, because of the quality of the animes… It's also the reason why it's so hard to tell my friends about Saiyuki. People tend to watch rather than read, but I don't really want people to watch Saiyuki with the quality they have now. So yeah…
73) What character is still a mystery to you?
I wanna say Koumyo but well, I'm more interested in Tenkai and Taruchie. They're the ones with connection, connecting Ibun, which I see as the oldest story of Saiyuki on earth, and Blast, which will be the ending of it. Even though they're not the center of the plot, I believe they took an important part in it. That also brings me to Sai Tai Sai... but I guess we'll find out about Sai in the future. I hope to see Tenkai and Taruchie lore as well :3

10 Fandoms, 10 characters, 10 tags
Thank you @baepsrae for tagging me!! ♡( ◡‿◡ )
This is everyone's preemptive warning to skip past if you don't want to read a long and rambling post, I'm about to go wild lol. I'll also include the 5 people (not 10 oops) I'm tagging here at the top so they don't have to scroll; I'm interested to hear your answers but obviously there's no pressure to do it (・ω・)b
@koscheiy, @breitzbachbea, @runmild, @toffeeanddragons, and @yatzuaka!
1. Loki (Marvel)
My poor little meow meow. My silly rabbit. My sweet darling babygirl. Picking 9 other characters was honestly hard because there's few I truly consider a favourite like Loki. Between his 2011-2013 appearances in the MCU, the comics, and the pre-Thor high-fantasy-novel-esque fics on AO3, the ideal version of this character lives in my head rent free, and has done since 2012. I picked this gif from The Avengers because it was the moment that made me want to see the film again just for his scenes, and it remains the only film I've seen in cinemas twice. He's quite literally the reason I got Tumblr, for The Avengers fanart, and my very first post was some (bad) fanart of my own haha. While the rest of this list is in no particular order, Loki is absolutely my number one, for all time, always. I could talk about him forever.
2. Evy Carnahan (The Mummy)
I had to choose the scene I got my blog title from. While Loki might be my favourite character, The Mummy is my favourite film. I think I saw it at the exact right time of life when I was a kid in my Ancient Egypt phase, but also far younger than the recommended viewing age the film suggests lol. Ever since then I've rewatched this and the sequel (yes, sequel, singular. I said what I said) more times than I can count and further developed my interest in actual Egyptology. Evy is intelligent and an academic, kindhearted, a little bit clumsy, but uses her knowledge and quick thinking to be an absolute badass and save the day multiple times. I've always wanted to be at least half as cool as her and also marry Rick O'Connell.
3. L (Death Note)
Everyone here is lucky that I got Tumblr after the height of my weeb phase that started in 2008. Death Note was the first manga I ever read and I expected to enjoy it and move on, but as soon as I got to the Lind. L. Taylor event in volume 2 my young mind was blown and I was obsessed. One scene of L outsmarting Light kept me reading manga, got me into anime, introduced me to fanart, was the first fanart I ever drew, introduced me to fanfiction, and years later I would take Japanese classes at uni. L is an amazing example of a morally grey character, wanting justice to prevail but perhaps not for the right reasons, and no matter what it takes to get there.
4. Leon S. Kennedy (Resident Evil 4 Remake)
Okay I'll admit Leon is the first babygirl on the list who is mainly here for aesthetic reasons. I had a passing knowledge of the Resident Evil franchise but never took an interest because military-gun-shooting-series are boring as hell... Until RE4R came out last year and I saw this scene in a playthrough. Where do I sign up for him to do this to my neck. Then I learned Leon's backstory and actually appreciated his character too. He hates and distrusts the US government, he was blackmailed into service for them at 21, he's haunted by being used as their weapon, and he's the most cringe fail man who thinks he's suave when he says "Nighty night, knights" as he's killing sentient suits of armour. I need him.
5. Astarion Ancunín (Baldur's Gate 3)
Ah, a non-human in a high fantasy world, using knife skills and sharp wit to protect himself from a deeply traumatic past, but still good at heart and willing to open up to those who appreciate him for who he is, rather than living up to someone else's standards. Now where have I seen a similar character type before... When the game came out it shouldn't have been a surprise who my favourite would be lol. The whole cast does an amazing job, but the real draw of Astarion is the phenomenal work put in by Neil Newborn to really bring this character to life, and I don't think Astarion would be the same without him.
6. Kagome Higurashi (Inuyasha)
Inuyasha is one of my all time favourite anime/manga. It's got time travel, a historic setting, magic, action and adventure, and romance between a human girl and a supernatural being who's down bad. Basically all of the tropes I adore and still look for in new favourite series haha. And Kagome has been That Bitch from the start; arriving in a village that fears a half dog-demon, freeing him from his imprisonment to help her, and then ordering him to sit when he pisses her off, knowing he's wearing a magic necklace that forces him to obey. No one is doing it like her.
7. Elizabeth Bennet (Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen)
Yes this is a basic bitch pick, I'm well aware. But no matter if it's the book by Jane Austen, the 1995 BBC production, or the 2005 film by Joe Wright, I love this story so much! There's just something so romantic about it that no modern romance book can capture, and that's not without my trying to find one (just follow my trail of 1 star ratings on Goodreads). Elizabeth and Mr Darcy just read as complete and real characters, and I love how much Elizabeth cares for her family, refusing Darcy's first proposal in part because he insulted them and tried to separate Jane from Mr Bingley.
8. Lin Sukai (The Drowning Empire Trilogy by Andrea Stewart)
Now we're getting into the realm of books without adaptations so I cant use gifs anymore, and I honestly couldn't find any fanart of Lin either. Which is a crime! My girl is out here being extremely intelligent and driven (and badass in some of the later scenes), using her familial magic as daughter of the Emperor to try and dismantle his tyranny despite craving his approval, and trying her best to gain allies even though she was raised within the walls of the palace and is slightly out of touch, and she doesn't have a fandom here on Tumblr? And that's only in book one of the trilogy!
9. FitzChivalry Farseer (The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb)
I haven't even finished The Realm of the Elderlings yet (16 thick ass books, nay, tomes) but I already know this is my favourite fantasy series of all time, and Robin Hobb is beyond doubt a master of her craft. One of her main talents is writing the ultimate poor little meow meow because good lord, Fitz just cannot catch a break no matter what he does or who he's trying to benefit. The pacing of these books can be quite slow but I promise it's always worth the emotionally devastating pay off. (It's also a tough call between Fitz and The Fool on who my favourite Hobb character is!)
10. Sancia Grado (The Founders Trilogy by Robert Jackson Bennett)
The final one is also my most recent addition to this list, seeing as I'm only just starting book two after finishing Foundryside late last year. While that shows how much I loved Sancia after just one book of her, I also hope the rest of the trilogy delivers! So often books will state characters are masters of their craft and just expect readers to take their word for it, but Sancia gets to show off her skills multiple times on page, so you get the impression she really exists and belongs in this world rather than just being a set piece for it. Not only that, she defies the usual lone-wolf-asshole stereotype that's so common in these gritty fantasy books, and it's heartwarming to see the found family she's gathered by the end of the story compared to where she began.
So uh, thank you all for coming to my TED talk about all my blorbos, see you later!

Yeah.. Being an introvert, socializing is too much for me to handle. I was drained to say or do anything at the time. And, of course, there was my personal life.
Along with slight depression for a while too.
But I'm fine.
~
I would recommend Alice In Borderland. As far as I know, there's only two seasons. I doubt there would be anymore seasons. Unless the next seasons were based on the manga spinoffs, but then that means only the main character would be in that storyline.
There's a few characters I enjoy. But I won't say that much until after you start watching, if you do watch the show anyway.
Actually.. There's a lot of Korean series that I watch that are based from webtoons. Like Bloodhounds! I can say that I'm so in love with the two male actors (and their characters). My new husbands. They are everything I look for in a man. So gorgeous, tall and muscular. So strong they could kill a man with their bare hands in they wanted to. And their muscles. 🤤
I have types for real people and fictional characters, basically the same type for real and fictional people if that clarifies some things about me.
Anyway. Joking aside. I do think you should watch Bloodhounds.. I highly recommend the series to the people who enjoy crime action series. I might really rewatch that again for the umpteenth time.
I also watched Extracurricular which is a Korean crime drama. I recommend that show too. Which reminds me! If you do watch the show.. There's this character who drives a van with an anime character painted on the side. When you see the character up close, I can clearly see Roberta from Black Lagoon. I might have to take a picture of that the next time I watch the show again.
I will rewatch Sweet Home before the new season comes out, same with All Of Us Are Dead. And yes! The Korean zombie series.
Actually! That's funny. I was actually just watching the trailer for Vincenzo so that may be my next new show, at least one of my next shows.
I have already seen Train To Busan, years ago when the movie came out. Kingdom might be an option, I might have to rewatch the trailer before deciding.
You're already caught up with the whole Black Clover series? I wasn't expecting you to be finished already. At least now you could watch other series.
Which characters didn't you care for?
Now that my roots already grow in, I might really be dyeing my roots tomorrow. I already took you that.
I don't really have many people who bullied me, and harrased me.. Or any of that. Not as often as people would think. And, when I was harrased, they were a lot of guys who would just make vulgar comments about my size for the most part. Those vulgar types of comments usually resulted in my hitting them.
But most of the time I never realized people were harassing me for one reason or another. Maybe that was the autism in me not understanding those social cues. I don't know.
Wait! Did I not contact you through instant messages?
💋
from an introvert to another introvert, i totally get you 🥲 there are just times where you only want yourself as your own company. it's interesting since i was an extrovert when i was younger, but i just can't be as outgoing as before now. i'm glad to hear that you're doing better though! i definitely have missed seeing your messages
ooh i'll note all these korean recommendations down! i definitely enjoy korean series a lot, especially if they fit into the genres that i'm into (like crime/thrillers/action) or have an actress that i like. do you read the webtoons that the adaptations are based off of too? i read sweet home before watching the live action, and i really enjoyed it. i thought the webtoon was significantly scarier actually. i didn't know there was a season 2 coming though!!
one of my friend recommended Extracurricular before, so i'll bump that up my watchlist! i recognize the main actor from another kdrama that i've watched. and OMG THEY HAD ROBERTA SHOWING IN ONE OF THE SCENES?! soooo cool. i will check out bloodhound too. ahaha if i ever watch anything with your taste in men too, i'll let you know 😉 mine are literally just strong older women who can kick my butt. both in fiction and in real life. you probably know that by now
yup! i binged the black clover series quite quickly. i enjoyed the elves' arc a lot. the spade kingdom's arc is also nice, but some of the anime fillers dragged it on quite a bit, so i started reading the manga while i was catching up at the same time. then of course i had to watch the movie for mereo too. the manga looks like it is going on a tri-monthly update now so i'll have to wait, which i don't mind since the author can take care of himself and map out the story the way he wants to with less pressure
the characters i didn't really care for are yuno and nozel... i have a LOT of thoughts for them honestly but if i go off on a rant this will take me forever. im also just not interested in deadpan/stoic character types like them, so that may be another reason why. as for yuno... i don't dislike him, but i do find him quite bland? mostly i just feel like he has a lot of room for development that tabata just... doesn't do anything with. he already has limited screentime, so not being able to see him actually work for all the powers that he got makes it hard for me to feel anything towards him. i'll definitely like him a lot more if we can see even just a little more of his thoughts and feelings. wait! are you caught up with the manga too? not sure what i would be spoiling if you aren't
and no! i don't think i've received an instant message from you before

I haven't been posting about it as much as I have been wanting to here because of how scattered I am, but I've finished episode 21!
I usually watch a few episodes all at once, then go do something else for awhile. At least for a day or a few.
Also an important note is that I've already been spoiled for the ending, not sure if it was on accident or I intentionally ignored a spoiler warning, it was like a year or two ago at least.
My thoughts so far:
Spoilers for Stone Ocean up to Episode 21 under the cut
I really enjoyed Jolyne's fight with Westwood. I can't quite put my finger on it at the moment. I think I did watch a video at some point before this, maybe even before watching Stone ocean, about how the fight against Westwood was so good. I don't remember what exactly was said, but I think something about it being a David vs. Goliath situation? Even though I knew Jolyne was going to win in the end because I know how Stone ocean ends and that there are more episodes, I still really enjoyed it. Honestly more than any other fight thus far, at least in Stone Ocean.
I think Foo Fighters might be my favorite character from Stone Ocean so far. I really enjoyed how Foof's motivation changed and how much they grow and change as a character.
I really wish I could say the same with Jolyne, and I think the character development is there, but I don't think I've quite connected just yet. I really wish I got another flashback or two of what she was like before the events of Stone Ocean. This could just be me, but I feel like what she was like before Stone Ocean wasn't hammered in enough. I had to take a look at the Jojo wiki to confirm what she was like. I think I might have to take a quick rewatch of episode 1?
Her strong determination does make better sense now, I'm honestly still going back and forth on whether all of Jolyne's sacrifice is worth it. But It still hasn't really connected with me.
I remember during the Johngalli fight, I was pretty frustrated with Jotaro. Even though I already knew what was going to happen after. Jotaro saying "I always cherished you", did change my mind a little: from genuine Frustration to "meh, maybe I guess".
I think I remember disliking Jotaro while watching Part 3 for the first time, but after watching a few character analysis, I grew to like him. I think I read a couple of chapters of the manga at some point afterward-
(I stopped binging JJBA, I mainly did so to try and catch up so I could talk Jojo with my online friends at the time. Then I basically took my sweet time from Part 4 onward. Actually I think I did slack quite a bit before then to get through the parts, but I remember I binged the heck out of Part 3 so I could catch up.)
and I think I remember liking Jotaro much more in the manga. I've seen memes/displays of panels with examples of how Jotaro is more expressive in the manga.
I do understand that Jotaro is more of a "Actions over words" kind of character and the Bad Boy with a heart of gold archetype, but for some reason it's hard to connect emotionally as I'm watching, and it only really hits afterward when looking back.
Maybe it's the possible combination on Jotaro not being as expressive in the anime and his expressions not being as focused on or easily noticable.
I think that's it for my thoughts off the top of my head for tonight. I might post more as I watch, not sure. I'll probably post my thoughts after I finish Stone Ocean.
