Peices of media that I was obsessed with for a long amount of time: a comprehensive list

Most of these were MAJOR hyperfixations, so I was stuck on them for months, sometimes even years. I mostly just wanted to make a list for the sake of research. Like, fandom trends and stuff like that.

My little Pony 2017-2018

Ooh boy I was a huge pony fan. I watched the show at least six or seven consecutive times, watched the movie in theaters, wrote my first fanfiction (though its unpublished and will always remain so), as well as just being a major annoyance to my parents. I didn’t own many toys, but i did own rocks that kind of looked like them, so I played with those. I remember the Twilight Sparkle rock went missing for a few days, and I made missing posters for it and everything.

The Dreamworks Trolls movie 2016-2017

Yes. I am being serious. I had a Trolls movie blanket, poster, and everything. I was seriously crazy about this movie. Like I remember buying the novelized version from like Micheals or something.

Harry Potter 2018-2021

I am extremely ashamed of this phase. Mostly because the author turned out to be a big stinky poo poo head. I literally knitted scarves and hats in house colors for my family (they’re actually quite comfy I intend to keep them but fuck you JKR) So long story short I want to burn this part of my history and never look back, while my family urges me to stare at the cringiest time in my life and say that I one day will return to it. And I want to say “No, Mother, I wish not to give more money to the TERF lady” but I doubt she’d get it.

Vocaloid 2022-

It took me a while to become a Vocaloid fan. It started with this cover of Chug Jug with you. I only tipped over the edge when I discovered Synth V’s Eleanor Forte through, you’ll never guess it, a Minecraft Revenge cover, and i swore to only listen to English songs. I then discovered Rishie-P’s cover of 4BLODD, which led me down the hole of English Vocaloid songs. Eventually I found myself listening to the Japanese ones. Now I’m a fully fledged miku fan who has a shrine to her above my bed.

SPY x FAMILY 2022-

10 PM on an October night, I just said “Fuck it” and watched Spy x family. It was honestly for the better. I was always used to asking for approval, making people tell me if I’m allowed to like something. As most of my followers know, this was how I really made it online. I wrote a 48k word Spy x family fic and all of a sudden I’m known for being the crazy one in the fandom.

Splatoon 2022-

This game, this FUCKIGN game. It gets me man, they gay people get me. My friend first introduced this game to me in July, and I’ve been hooked playing it ever since. I am an avid Pearlina Shipper, and well as an Agent 24 (3x8) enthusiast. I want more of these gay cephalopods on my dash. NOW!

Describe your perfect writing conditions.

Anywhere, as long as I don't have homework due and the room is clean! For some reason, if I feel like I have something else to do, I can't focus on writing. :/ Doesn't stop me, but I usually don't have a good time.

I also prefer writing at night.

How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?

I usually go through about three rewrites (and grab a beta) if I can! The first rewrite is for spelling errors, the second is for content (aka beefing up the chapter, adding to or reducing paragraphs) and the third is for spelling errors again.

Lately I've been a complete heathen and just have been posting after, like, one rewrite bc I'm lazy lol.

This was hard to choose because my early fics are so bad, but I finally settled with something from one of my Kircus fics. Also this fic is complete garbage so pls don't click on it.

"Oh, hey!" a familiar voice interrupts Carol's train of thought.

She turns.

Out of all the people she expected to recognize in her Intermediate Temporal Mechanics class, James Tiberius fucking Kirk wasn't one of them.

His appearance paints a different image than that of the smokey, run down bar of just months ago. He's traded in the dark bruises and bloodshot eyes for an easy smile and a vibrant gaze. He's leaning casually back in his chair, one stylus tucked behind his ear.

It doesn't escape her notice that his uniform collar is popped, sleeves rolled to the elbows. Despite breaking regulation, it's a dorky, if not endearing image. The image of a bad boy at odds with the nerdy pikachu socks that peek out in the gap between his shoes and pants.

Carol reminds herself that she doesn't like him and rolls her eyes.

"It's the Farmboy," she drawls, leaning on her elbow on the back of her chair.

His grin widens. "Never denied, sweetheart. Carol, right?"

"Hmm," she hums affirmatively. "So you do remember things."

"When 'things' are attractive women who kick my ass, then yes. I have an edict memory."

Carol dutifully tries to remember why she doesn't like him and draws a blank. Fuck.

1. my cringiest memory is a tie between going to walmart at midnight for the dvd premieres of eclipse and breaking dawn part 1 (and maybe breaking dawn part 2 but i literally can’t remember at this point) and like........going to the seattle twilight convention in 2011. but now that I think about it, it wasn’t cringey at all! i was 13 and it was the single best day of my life. i got up early with my mom that morning and we drove the half hour it took to get to downtown seattle from our house. the girls of the hillywood show hosted and i got to meet them. i later attended panels with tyson housemann and booboo stewart and julia jones 💕💕💕 it was julia’s birthday but she didn’t mention it, humble queen. and omg she wore a tank top and threw a football around........what a woman. booboo also did a backflip in that hotel lobby lmfao. but besides seeing the cast, that slday was incredible bc i won twilight trivia against a bunch of ppl (including grown ass adults) lmao. that was so incredibly fun. best day of my life as a twihard.

wait but BITCH I forgot I went to forks w my dad in 2013!!! the town was dead as fuck but it was so fun 💕💕💕 I did a bunch of tourist shit but I’m so glad I finally went and I’m so thankful for my dad for taking me no matter how bored he was. that was amazing

2. twilight was my first Thing as an adolescent. i got into it when i was 11 years old. it has shaped so much of me, but most importantly, my opportunities to make friends, as well as my music taste bc of my friends from these websites putting me on to new music. the soundtracks ofc put me on to new music too. but anyways, some of my best friends since middle school were people I originally met on twilight fan sites or the 2012 taylor lautner fandom on twitter. twilight was also the longest book I’d read at the time, so it upped my reading habits. and I’ve also loved writing since I was little (like 8 years old) but discovering fan fiction made it that much more fun. I’ve always loved writing and fan fiction enabled my love for it, even though most of my fics were shitty. I had (and still have!) so much fun. in terms of fashion, I had a phase where I liked flannels bc of bella but I definitely dress cuter now than anybody in those movies lmaoo.

3. now Leah Clearwater......LEAH CLEARWATER. she’s always resonated with me in that shes a woman of color and NOT afraid to show others how she feels, no matter how annoyed or uncomfortable everyone else gets because of it. she was hurting and didn’t hide it (not like she could, but still). she made sure she was heard despite all those boys telling her to shut up. and also, her protectiveness over Seth reminds me of how much I care about my younger brother and wanna shield him from everything bad in the world, even when he’s being a dumbass. but overall I think of leah as a huge breath of fresh air in that she’s one of the only characters who not only criticizes the Cullens but Bella too. she also has that brand of humor that’s kinda mean but very true and I’ve definitely embodied it for at least the last 12 years of my life. I just wish she was real so I could be her friend. smeyer managed to under develop one of her most compelling characters ever.

4. my favorite jacob scene in the books was every last scene in new moon before he phased, but especially the part where he and bella talked at the movies. that was really sweet. and I don’t claim eclipse, but the little parts they hung out as friends (before it got annoying) were nice as well. oh and I LOVED when they danced together in the breaking dawn movie. she was so happy to see him! like literally delighted! the first time she looked that hapoy during the entire wedding and reception!!! but my favorite overall jacob scene is definitely at the part in the new moon movie right before I turn the whole thing off, when they’re in her truck and he’s like “sometimes I feel like I’m gonna disappear.” that really gets me. I wish it got more elaboration. jacob’s backstory is literally so rich I wish we got more of it :( and this may be an unpopular opinion but his take on everything that happened in new moon would be totally cool to have but it’s too bad smeyer made him Love Interest #2 and not like.......his own character

I didn’t know how much I needed 80s!Tommy Shelby in my life until now 😩😩😩 I loved how you incorporated the song into the stories, from using the lyrics deliberately and throughout to - of course - having him take, keep and fall in love with her photograph...it was all just so very well done. Thank you so much for writing this for my celebration!!

Ok so first off I wanted to say that you did such an amazing job of setting the scenes in this story. It was like I was in the bar while I was reading it. Every sound, every visual, every smell, I could just picture it all perfectly. And don’t even get me started with his dream.....🥵🥵😩😩 by goodness, you’ve outdone yourself there as well (which I’m most certainly not complaining about haha)

I liked how you described Tommy’s thought process throughout the fic, but more specfically in the beginning. This: It wasn’t that he didn’t like music, or rock music for that matter; he liked his own music, and he didn’t have time to discover a new band that he knew he wouldn’t care about. rings so true about many people. Oftentimes they won’t go to a show or listen to a band simply because it’s not their music, but in many cases (which like this one) they’ll find something that they actually like about it if they do give it a listen.

I’d like to know....what do you think Tommy’s favorite music is in this story?? Do you see him liking the heavier bands (ie Metallica, Guns N’ Roses) or is he more into the glam rock (ie Poison, Ratt)?? Also, I’m not sure if it was stated in the story, so I’ll ask here....what kind of music was (Y/N)’s band playing?? Was she rocking out like Joan Jett/Pat Benatar or doing something more poppy/indie like Stevie Nicks/Madonna? Personally, I see her as more like the first two but I’m just curious haha (can you tell I was in deep with this stuff at one point? Haha)

Anyways, I’m back from the tangent now haha. I love how Tommy completely flipped from not wanting to be there and being disinterested to being fully invested and intrigued by her. I feel like some people get on stage and they just entrap their audience, and she definitely did that with Tommy. I also love that he took her photograph to keep (and I also love how descriptive you were with the photographs he took...I was easily able to see them in my mind). I knew right from reading this line: As she walked off stage, all he knew was that he had to see her again. that he got stuck in her web and that it wasn’t the end of her in the story.

And by golly was I right....🥵🥵😩😩🔥🔥 I had a suspicion from the start that that scene was a dream, but dang...that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t amazingly written and so very sexy!!!! I just envy y’all who write smut so well because when I do it’s the most cringiest thing ever 😅 but when y’all do it, it deserves to be put amongst the classics. I particularly loved what was said between them while it was all going down. All of it was just *chef’s kiss*

But then this: “Yes, Frances?” this knocked me right out 🤣🤣🤣 Francesssss 😩😩😩 why’d you have to ruin all Tommy’s fun?!?! Lmao. I loved your warning at the beginning because Tommy is 100% a certified S.I.M.P in this story, and you know what, I’m living for it!!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 like come on....no normal person would have this thought: He would find out when her band played again and go to her show. if they weren’t simping over someone. They also probably wouldn’t have dreams like that either👀👀

I’m so here for it though....I loved how you wrote his thought process and decisions when he went to the bar the second time. And the fact that he went closer to the stage so that he could get a better photo of her to keep for himself?? 😩😩😩 I just loved it all so much!!!!

And then she found him at the end...right when he thought he had no luck!!!!! Yessss!!!!!! I loved their conversation they had and I loved it even more that she didn’t even try to beat around the bush and went right for what she wanted!!! 😩😩🙌🏼🙌🏼

This story was all around absolutely amazing!! You’ve opened me to a whole knew AU world that I didn’t know I needed to experience until now. You’ve truly meshed my two loves into one haha.

I tried to be inclusive with reader, but I understand the description of her hair may not be as inclusive as normal. I wanted to portray the 80s rock scene, so big hair was a necessity. Tommy was only there because Arthur and John dragged him along. Something about keeping up their image and staying hip. He could care less. As long as he was left alone to drink, he didn’t care what happened around him or what his brothers did.

They were in a large bar with enough room for a stage and a few hundred people. Arthur and John were in the middle of the crowd preparing for the band to come on stage. The lights were already dim, signaling the show would start soon. Tommy took a long drag from his cigarette as he sat at the bar, a glass of whiskey in front of him. There were only two other people at the bar with him, everyone else was in front of the stage.

He was thankful for the solitude, having no energy to deal with the over the top crowd. As he sipped his whiskey, he heard a chord from a guitar, the cue that the opening number began their performance, the crowd roaring in response. He cringed.
