Having to update my IoT lightbulbs before the app will let me turn them off as I'm going to bed and momentarily longing to hunt tech CEOs on horse back across the Eurasian steppe

#mandatory update as a reminder that you dont actually own your tech sucks #digital fuedalism sucks #i know i probably could setup an open source controller or smth but just jesus fuck the balls to have mandatory updates #made annoying by the fact i set my router to default disallow internet access #so had to add the lightbulb hub to the allowed list sk it could update #which given the update is probably security feels so dumb
