Digimon Tamer ZERO
Chapter 3 The Demon Lord Allies
One week ago...
Naoki made his way into Card Capital with Shingo by his side. Naoki had his school bag flung over his shoulder and his other hand in his pocket. Shingo looked around for something briefly meeting Misaki’s gaze from behind the counter. Shingo’s gaze stopped at the Digimon ZERO v-pets. Naoki walked up to the counter not saying much, but had a intense look.
“May I help you, Naoki?”, Misaki asked.
“Those v-pets or whatever their called I need one.”, Naoki answered, slamming his hand on the table.
Misaki just roll her eyes used to Naoki’s behavior by now.
“That will be 1500 yen.”, Misaki replied in a bored tone.
Naoki noticed this frowning.
“Hey, Misaki you know where Aichi’s been?”, Naoki asked.
“I haven’t seen him since last week.”, Misaki replied.
Naoki growled with a worried expression.
“Man, what’s with him? Why has he been avoiding us? I’ve tried to catch him after class
and he just keeps getting away.”, Naoki questioned.
Misaki looked down and Shingo looked off to the side.
“He beat Link Joker to save the world and so we could all go back to playing fun games of Vanguard like we used too. But, he’s been ghosting us for over a week.”, Naoki continued.
“I wouldn’t say ghosting but...his behavior has certainly been odd lately.”, Shingo replied, adjusting his glasses.
“The point stands...”, Naoki replied as he slammed the money into the table.
“I heard Aichi has one of these things. If I can’t Cardfight answers out of him then I’ll just battle him on this thing for my answers!”, Naoki finished.
“Wait...that’s your plan?! That’s so dumb! How are you even going to find him to battle genius?”, Shingo questioned.
“I thought I heard these things could battle online.”, Naoki replied in a clueless tone.
“Yeah, but do you expect Aichi to use his real name?”, Shingo replied and Naoki gasped with a funny look on his face never considering that.
Misaki sweat dropped giving Naoki a
“he’s a idiot” look.
“Please tell me you at least know how to raise a virtual pet?”, Misaki said.
“Virtual pet? I thought it was fighting monsters?”, Naoki questioned as the two of them face palmed.
In the present...
Dynasmon blinked in confusion looking around and noticing the scenery around him had suddenly changed. He was suddenly in what seemed like some sort of castle-like structure. The walls were white and the lighting gave the area a somber blue hue. Dynasmon looked for any sign of Aichi never even remembering being transported.
“Is something wrong Dynasmon?”, Dynasmon turned as he heard his tamer’s voice from behind him.
His tamer gave him a rather confused look. Dynasmon looked down at him narrowing his eyes. Aichi backed up a bit as Dynasmon looked him over.
“Your not Aichi.”, Dynasmon said, skeptically.
“Huh? What are you talking about?”, Aichi asked, with a confused and worried tone.
“You may be good at acting but you cannot deceive me. I feel that alien darkness all over you without even focusing.”, Dynasmon replied.
“Hmm hmm I see...”, “Aichi” replied, cupping his chip and seeming not very alarmed by being found out.
“I will have to keep that in mind. Glad to know my Aichi act is good though.”, “Aichi” continued.
“Your that Link Joker, Aichi talked about aren’t you?”, Dynasmon questioned as he narrowed his eyes.
“Yep, that’s me. Though that’s more of the name of the clan. You can call me the void.”, the void replied.
Dynasmon couldn’t help but be off putted by the void’s casual tone.
“Why have you brought me here?”, Dynasmon questioned tensing in battle ready stance knowing that the void was a threat to his tamer.
“I just wanted to talk. I mean you are my host’s...and soon to be my Digimon.”, the void said and Dynasmon glared at him.
The void just smiled his disconcert only further creeping out the Royal Knight. The longer he looked the longer he noticed how disturbingly empty the void’s eyes were. The sinister energy that leaked from its mere presence was more foul than anything he had ever felt before. The fact that he had chosen to take on his naive tamer’s appearance only made it more disturbing. The intense feeling of wrongness the void gave off immense. He talked using his tamer’s voice but it sounder hollow and much deeper.
“I won’t serve you. Aichi ordered me to stop you if you took control.”, Dynasmon replied.
“Are you sure you want to do that? I’m sure a annoying do gooder like him would be quite a thorn in your true master’s side.”, the void said before Dynasmon grabbed him by the collar and hoisted him up.
“Oh, I guess you don’t want Aichi to know that. Don’t worry that clueless ninny doesn’t suspect a thing. I would know I’m in his mind after all.”, the void said in mocking tone.
“What do you know!?”, Dynasmon questioned and the void continued to smile at him his smile becoming increasingly unnerving.
“I know a lot of things. That’s the perk of being a existence without a real physical presence. I can really get around and find out lots of useful stuff.”, the void replied.
“Why are you taking Aichi’s form?”, Dynasmon questioned, growling.
“I take the form of my hosts since I don’t really have a true form. And we’ll as you know Aichi is my host.”, the void answered.
The void tilted his head with a smile that would normally seem innocent but it was somehow made utterly disturbing by the void.
“Why don’t we make a deal? That will allow you to finish what your true master started.”, the void proposed.
“Never! I don’t know how you know about that stuff but I won’t fall for your tricks!”, Dynasmon growled.
“Always so stubborn...I guess you really are being turned soft by him.”, the void teased before the area shifted again startling Dynasmon and causing him to drop the void.
“You!!! Dare call me soft!? I’ve slaughtered millions of lives and I’ll destroy more as I see fit!”, Dynasmon roared.
They were now in a throne room which displayed the night sky. Two notable objects being Earth and another similar planet Dynasmon didn’t recognize. A throne with a extremely tall back was in the middle of the room. The void walked over to the throne with Dynasmon following out of curiosity. Dynasmon stopped when he saw Aichi, the real Aichi sleeping in the throne in a similar position to how he slept on him. Dynasmon tensed as the void neared his prone tamer raising up his hand.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you. Even if you actually got me my host over here would be feeling all the pain.”, the void said gesturing the sleeping Aichi.
Dynasmon growled lowering his hand.
“Your just a lowly virus! Too weak to accumulate your own power so you have to take it like some dirty thief! If there’s one thing I despise it’s honor-less worms like you void! I would never follow such a coward!”, Dynasmon growled.
“So, simple minded...you too are exactly alike.”, the void replied, not sounding hurt at all and simply shaking his head.
“Don’t you do anything you virus!”, Dynasmon growled.
“Nothing at all? How demanding. If your worried about me waking him up there’s nothing to fear he sleeps like a brick. I would have to pour water on his head or something.”, the void replied.
“Bricks don’t sleep.”, Dynasmon replied confused.
This just made the void sigh and shake his head again.
“Honestly. Some of you lifeforms are just impossible. That’s why I always have to break out the mind control at some point or other methods...”, the void scoffed, before he formed a inhuman smile.
The void placed his hand over Aichi’s head causing Dynasmon to get defensive again. A bucket of water formed seemingly out of nowhere and tipped over on its own over Aichi’s head.
Dynasmon blinked as he suddenly found himself back at the camp they had made in reality. He noticed Aichi let out a startled cry reacting almost as if he had really had water poured on his head. Aichi looking around very startled. Dynasmon could hear Aichi’s heart beating rapidly against his chest like a machine gun.
“W-wha?”, Aichi questioned, sounding a bit frantic and very tired.
“It’s alright I am here protecting you, Aichi.”, Dynasmon assured.
Dynasmon paused awkwardly not exactly knowing how to comfort someone. As he looked at his tamer now face to face he noticed how exhausted he seemed. Under it faint light of the dying flame he noticed the bags under his eyes and just how paler his skin seemed from when he first saw in through the v-pet. It was no wonder he fell asleep on metal without a care. He was just that exhausted. It was likely he didn’t even mean to fall asleep on him at all.
Bokomon and Neemon were starting to rouse due to all the noise. Aichi breathed trying to calm down. Very strangely placing his hand over his heart as he breathed trying to calm down.
“I-I’m fine. Everything’s fine. I’m sorry for waking you guys.”, Aichi apologized, quietly.
“Wait...has that void thing been...making him unable to rest properly? And he seemed very jumpy and stressed...To think his physical condition has weakened so much even since I first saw him... so, that’s what that lowly virus was trying to get across...”, Dynasmon thought.
The void believed that he cared for his tamer so if he wasn’t cooperative it could easily make him suffer.
Dynasmon was snapped out of this thought when he heard a russle in the woods causing him to get in front of his tamer in a defensive stance. Out from the brush flew in a hulking red Digimon. It was a quatroped with a body made of flame and red shield-like armor. It had golden designs on the armor and a golden horn. It was Bryweludramon and it flying right towards them. Dynasmon grabbed onto its large shoulder pads to prevent it from plowing right through them. Aichi got back a bit groggily and tried to shake off his tiredness.
Aichi looked up noticing a human teenager on the back of Bryweludramon. The human had brown hair and reddish brown eyes. He wore some sort of green blazer school uniform. Bokomon and Neemon screamed seeing the massive Digimon and ran behind Aichi.
“Another human? Why...why is he attacking us?”, Aichi questioned and Dynasmon noticed the teen as well.
The teen flinched as Dynasmon looked up at him narrowing his eyes into a glare. Dynasmon drew back his fist to punch the teen. ‘Don’t hurt him. You can could kill him. Just get him off so we can talk’ Dynasmon heard through the former v-pet. So, Dynasmon simply knocked him off causing him to fall to the ground, before something stopped him from hitting the ground.
Aichi looked around as he saw a golden blur flying by. This also briefly caught Dynasmon’s attention who was focusing on Bryweludramon. The blur went towards Aichi, Bokomon, and Neemon. Aichi’s heart beat loudly against his chest waiting for the right moment and Dynasmon narrowed his eyes at the blur. Dynasmon knowing his tamer’s plan dug his claws into Bryweludramon which made the Digimon let out a pained cry.
“What are you doing? Move!!!”, Bokomon yelled.
He paused looking on Aichi he was completely focused on the fight almost not even hearing Bokomon.
“There’s this intense air around him...Hopefully he knows what he’s doing.”, Bokomon thought.
When the timing was perfect Dynasmon threw Bryweludramon at the golden blur causing a loud bang. The teen gasped falling off the golden blur which was revealed to be a golden humanoid Digimon with sword limbs. It had red eyes and red orbs on its body. It was Durandamon. Durandamon struggled up looking hurt as one of its blades was cracked by the collision. It was the same for Bryweludramon’s armor. Aichi noticed another human teen was on Durandamon and had fallen off after the collision. It was a girl with black hair in a ponytail and grey eyes. She wore a similar uniform to the boy. She had landed face first and was brushing all the dirt out of her face. Thankfully her and the boy didn’t seem too hurt.
The boy growled struggling up and raising a similar cyan device to his own.
“Why are you attacking us?”, Aichi asked them.
“Your here to defeat the demon lords aren’t you? I can’t let that happen!”, the boy answered and Aichi raised his eyebrow confused.
“Why? The demon lords are trying to take over the Digital World! They even have some troops causing trouble in our world!”, Aichi questioned.
“Yeah, those guys are meanies!”, Neemon added.
“So what?”, the boy replied coldly.
Aichi looked completely stunned. Bokomon and Neemon gasped in shock. Dynasmon narrowed his eyes looking down at the human.
“W-what do you mean ‘so what?’ both our world and the Digital World are in trouble!”, Aichi replied, taken aback.
“I don’t care about our world. There’s nothing for me there.”, the boy replied as the girl got up and went to his side.
“What...what about everyone else? Your family? Friends? Digimon? You can’t be just fine with them being endangered.”, Aichi asked.
“I don’t got time for your preaching. Your in our way so you’re going down.”, the boy replied.
As if on cue Bryweldramon sent flames from its wings towards him. Dynasmon got in the way of the blowing the flames away with a gust of wind. Bryweldramon staggered as the powerful wind blew in his direction. The wind made the cracks in its armor become larger.
“Grr! Come on you weakling! It’s just one Digimon! Don’t make me delete you too!”, the boy growled.
“What’s with him?”, Bokomon questioned.
“Maybe the demon lords can control humans too? Whatever the case is we need to stop them! Let’s go, Dynasmon!”, Aichi said, raising up the strange cyan device and Dynasmon roared.
Dynasmon flew forward towards Durandamon delivering a powerful kick to its thin limbs. Dynasmon grabbed the stunned Durandamon and stabbed Bryweldramon with its blade appendages.
“That wasn’t a fluke.”, the girl finally spoke quietly.
The boy growled angrily at this.
“What are they talking about?”, Neemon asked.
“Both Durandamon and Bryweldramon are legend arms Digimon. Bryweldramon shield is said to be impenetrable.”, Bokomon explained.
“But it was penetrated?”, Neemon questioned.
“I’m not done! You see it is also said the Durandamon’s swords can cut anything. It’s said to be the only Digimon capable of piercing Bryweldramon’s shield.”, Bokomon continued.
“So...it’s not impenetrable?”, Neemon questioned.
“...yes.”, Bokomon replied.
“Then the book is wrong.”, Neemon concluded.
“Oh, shut it you!”, Bokomon replied, before pulling Neemon’s pants and letting go causing it to snap like a rubber band.
“Ouchie!”, Neemon cried.
Durandamon tried to escape Dynasmon’s grip and Dynasmon viciously struck Durandamon’s joints. Durandamon recoiled and it’s limbs twitched weakly from the devastating hits.
“Darn!”, the boy growled.
The girl held up her cyan device and Durandamon started trying to shift. Dynasmon squeezed Durandamon tightly ignoring the pain from the tips of the blades. He flew at Bryweldramon practically beating it with Durandamon.
“This is not good. Dynasmon has type advantage over Durandamon. And Durandamon has the advantage over Bryweldramon. We need a virus type.”, the girl replied quietly.
“A virus type won’t save you!”, Dynasmon replied as he stabbed Durandamon into Bryweldramon’s cracks.
“This darn Dynasmon! How is he so strong? Our Digimon have been trained to perfection?”, the boy thought raising his device it seemed to scan Dynasmon and show his stats.
Name: Dynasmon
Stage: Mega
Attribute: Wind
Type: Data
Nature: Fighter
Lv.70
HP 1,710
SP 184
ATK 360
INT 85
DEF 115
SPD 330
Total: 3,102
“It’s not even at its max yet its so strong?! Is it hacked or something?”, the boy thought.
“Who are you and why are you siding with the demon lords?”, Aichi asked.
The boy growled as he met Aichi’s eyes.
“Those eyes. That stupid resolute just gaze is what I hate!”, the boy thought.
“How did you make that Dynasmon so overpowered?”, the boy asked.
“Hey, my tamer asked you a question. It’s rude to answer with another question. Don’t forget who has the advantage here.”, Dynasmon threatened, holding up the limp Durandamon.

Super Sentai Review :: Gekisou Sentai Carranger
This was a show I ZOOMED through (haha). I finished it within a couple of weeks! It’s been a while since I consumed a show this voraciously! I’m so happy I watched it and also glad it’s getting a dvd release soon!
Let’s take a look at it shall we!
1. What is the basic premise of the show and does it work?
After the destruction of his planet, Hazard, Dapp the alien comes to Earth. There he gives his Kurumagic to five earthlings so they can protect the Earth from suffering the same fate. These five individuals fight against the reckless Space Bosozoku Bowzock. They're a troublesome gang of space bikers who want to have the Earth explode in a display of fireworks.
It's a slightly goofy and lightheaded show as our heroes fight for the safety of the Earth with car based magic.
Our protagonists are: Kyosuke Jinnai (Red Racer), Naoki Domon (Blue Racer), Minoru Uesugi (Green Racer) Natsumi Shinohara (Yellow Racer) and Yoko Yagami (Pink Racer).
2. Who was my favourite team member?
I'm going to have to go with Kyosuke Jinnai (Red Racer) on this one even though I did like all of the Rangers in this show. He was a great leader character. He was positive, a little goofy and all around a great guy. I loved his nerves when it came to being a leader and how flustered he got dealing with Zonnette's affections. He was really compelling as a character and I was often rooting for his success.
3. What did I like about the show?
Absolutely solid first episode. You had a great introduction of the villain group and our protagonists. Of course there's the speed required of a first episode, not a lot of understanding. However I always find episodes that don't have a giant mech work better. You get a bit more of an introduction because the fighting time is reduced.
I absolutely love how long it took for the villains to figure out how to grow large. The experimentation started episode 4 and took two episodes to figure out. That was super interesting!
Our female rangers were both shown to be balanced and varied in their interests. They both loved cars and had their dreams in the vehicle world. They were both shown as different though, you had a different but equal levels of femininity in them.
I loved the sequence of their mech coming together. Lots of active movement as they joined together. Loved it!
Naoki was also a great character. He was a sweet and younger guy with a great brain. He cared a lot about others.
Minoru was also hilarious with his Osaka dialect and klutzy behaviour. He was super funny to watch.
Natsumi was a great female character. Resourceful and shown to be a great mechanic! You don't often get to see women in those roles so it was really nice to see her in the position of mechanic.
Signalman was all sorts of hilarious! His strict adherance to traffic rules to the point of ridiculouslness was fantastic.
I absolutely loved the goofy tone of the show. After spending a lot of time on older versions of the show it was nice to have a fun romp to spend time watching!
The enemies all had interesting designs that stood out.
I loved comic relief cockroach!
Zonette was an absolutely fascinating character. Her focus on Red Racer was both heart warming and hilarious. The trope of having a villain hone in on the Red Ranger is something I've always enjoyed but this twist of having that focus be one of love instead of destruction was refreshing and interesting.
Zonette's love of cucumber kimchi. Such a fondness in my heart. It ended up in an episode where the villains try and get more cucumber kimchi. They end up being told that they'll find much more delicious kimchi in Korea so to head there. Absolutely hilarious!
I love how our team lost their RV Robo mech for several episodes. You actually felt the tension from the situation. They didn't get things back right away, they had to actually work for it!
Dapp was a great ally/mentor character. Childlike but not annoying. He supported the crew and even had a plotline of his own. He didn't take too much of the spotlight but was a wonderfully useful ally.
I also loved how the heroes hid their identities! It led to more interesting developments, such as the romance between Zonnette and Red Racer and Signalman's insistence that the five were 'unremarkable humans'.
4. What didn't I like?
More development from the ladies would have been nice. It's always something I could do more with.
Our super fan White Racer was absolutely adorable! She could have been in more episodes! She's only in a handful of episodes and that's such a shame!
I didn't like Gynamon at all. He got better as time went on however he was always a bit of a creep. He became more and more goofy as time went on which was good but at the start especially he was really unlikable.
Yoko simply had to be given lots of the annoying-girl tropes in the show. Such a shame because I wanted to like her more than I did. She was a little flaky, even saying she'd leave the Carrangers for a relationship. She could have done with more development.
Can I be picky? Sure. I absolutely loved their roll call and I'm so upset I didn't see it much outside of the first few episodes and then in the final. The screeching tires, the sharp movements...it reminded me of what I love about the Gekiranger roll call! I'm upset that I didn't get to see it more.
5. What was better: the opening or the ending?
The opening was “Gekisou Sentai Carranger" by Naritaka Takayama. At episode 14 it switches to a different version of the song until the final episode. The ending song was "Tengoku Samba" also by Naritaka Takayama. Both were high energy and fun. The ending song was goofier and focused on a race between the five rangers. The openings were both super fun and I found myself singing along. If I had to pick a favourite it would be the opening, for sure!
6. Why would I/wouldn't I recommend this show for others?
This is definitely a show I'd recommend for people! It's absolutely hilarious and fun to watch! We've got some interesting characters and a great team spirit. Sure, it focuses on car magic but overall it's a fun ride from start to finish! The plot is simple to follow and it actually takes time to develop things. Even though it is a show to sell toys you don't feel like they're overloading it with merchandise! Each new toy and item has the appropriate build up to get you hyped for it! I'd definitely say this is one for everyone! I finished it within a couple of weeks!
It builds to an epic and satisfying conclusion! I’m sad I finished it so fast but it was totally worth the WILD RIDE!
