I drew this in one day hahaha....Actually really fun! I haven't finished anything in almost a month, and haven't painted for even longer, so I'm kinda dying at the fact that 18th century George Russell got me motivated 😭 Sometimes when painting, I realize I have free will and can actually just start painting over the lineart, and that's the best moment of every drawing process 🙏

Also I'm very proud of his face!!! I've said before, but art progression is such a weird thing. Okay about the pose and quote. God its so fun to misappropriate quotes for my own evil deeds. Both of these are from this one officer from the Revolution: Banastre Tarleton. Idk, I randomly saw his painting in a history video, and it's stuck in my mind ever since. And then yesterday, bcs I spent a lot of time looking at George, I'm like "hey you know what he kinda reminds me of-" and thus we have this.

alright so i generally think this isn't an issue of overprescribing per se (i think drugs should all be legalised and available lol) but one of lying about the risks—whether or not someone 'needs' opioids for a broken ankle, they do need to be told that opioids have addiction potential, and that is information that the sacklers were massaging out of their trial data and that doctors in turn were not telling their patients, even after it was very obvious to anyone doing followups that the risk existed. & like i say this as someone who did start doing opioids because they were around the house lol. i don't think the answer here is that doctors magically become able to determine with pinpoint accuracy who actually 'needs' the drugs—there is no way to eliminate human error from that process, for one, and anyway i think people should be able to make their own decisions on substance use in general. but you have to be doing that with actual full information. but i do certainly agree the underprescribing is an issue—this has always been a problem for people with chronic pain/illness, and media coverage of the 'opioid epidemic' (scare quotes bc i think the epidemic framing is a bad one) has certainly made this worse.

anyway though. this is funny cause i initially got shuttled to psychiatry because i was trying to get my chronic fatigue diagnosed, and i definitely think asking for pills was a factor in the psych deciding i was bpd or hpd or bipolar or whatever he even said lol. you always have to do this little song and dance with them where you showed up to the office of the prescribing professional but now you have to pretend you're not looking for a prescription becsuse if you want it too much that's Bad obviously. and then because PDs in particular and psych diagnoses in general are vibes based, it's literally just the psych announcing in medicalese that they don't like you. if you look at the criteria for some of the PDs they even explicitly include points for how the patient 'makes' the doctor feel akajaksajs like literally i diagnose you with im doing transmisogyny to you

If you didn't expect it already, it's Morro-centric. Also it is half an idea and a bag of funny quotes to go with it, none of this is laid out and, if I post about it again, the lore will probably change a lot.

But anyways, it kinda goes like this:

• Morro gets revived

• He maybe runs into Wu and the Ninja??

• If he does, he says fuck that and runs away (because avoidance is his "solution" to all of his problems)

• He eventually stumbles upon these children

• SURPRISE!! It's Brad and Gene! (And maybe Sally and possibly little Lloyd. I'm still trying to decide all of this)

• Morro's immediate reaction is "whose kids are these and why won't they leAVE ME ALONE???"

• Forced Found Family Moment TM

• Morro kind-of-but-not-really adopts the gaggle of children

• Said children decide to drag him through a redemption arc, and so now he goes around just helping people around Ninjago, mostly in Ninjago City.

• They become known by the locals as the "Unhinged Community Service"

• The name sticks and the kids start recording their weird bullshit and post it on social media

• The Ninja/Wu find the account and visit Morro bc conflict (I'm I'm a sucker for Wu and Morro content-)

ik what you mean by the lines feeling weird in the book. if you look at some of the author's videos talking and some of their tweets also, it becomes very clear what their writing style is. a lot of it comes off to me as 'trying to be funny' but in an almost cringy way, like a mom trying to be hip with her kids. i remember reading the first book and being very confused bc i would be reading about a very confusing battle and then they would just say a completely out of place line and i would be like ??? oh is this supposed to be a joke ??? maybe its just my autism making it hard for me to recognize written sarcasm but yeah lol

yeah no, there's a lot of bizarre lines that are like: ....so IS this a joke?

i've been sending quotes to my poor friend (who did not sign up for my ongoing commentary), and i think a lot of both the prose and the dialogue just like.... sounds like how zhao speaks/types across various social media platforms. i didn't super mind it in iron widow because, while it doesn't make for ~beautiful writing~, the narration is zetian's voice, and also iron widow was all rapid action and zetian's burning rage so the actual prose part was less important.

for heavenly tyrant, there's more focus on dialogue between characters (especially zetian and qin zheng) and explaining and dealing with societal problems, plus zetian herself seems to be going through some character development. so now i as a reader do have to focus on what characters are saying and how they're expressing themselves, and how complex concepts are communicated to me. and there's.... very little to sign post what is maybe a lighthearted joke versus something very serious and upsetting versus just trying to explain a piece of world building. it all reads the same, and a lot of descriptions sound more like someone explaining off the cuff what's happening than something thoughtfully composed to help the reader visualize. because it all feels the same, and we don't have facial expressions or changing tone to help figure out what's a joke like we would in a video for example, it's just.... really unclear?

i was genuinely very intrigued bc 1. rockstar games usually go hard and 2. early 2000s media usually goes pretty hard! i’m also a big fan of trying out media that i’ve never heard of before as opposed to like… what’s popular at the time. so yea 😁 i went into it with high hopes/expectations and was not disappointed!! pretty damn good considering when it was released
