i think about this sometimes but I post content of mes that are different from the canon. I draw specific things with me. sometimes if i’m proud, i share it with a wider audience. i think it should be a “who cares” because it’s ME, but I worry about how people will interpret my infodump or my art.
i have always been a big, big advocate for media literacy and looking into characterization deeper and understanding a character from another perspective. i think people dumbing down a character to, “awhh wehh my sweetie he’s nice deep down he’s just mean on the outside” especially when it’s a villian makes me rip my hair out.
But it’s different when it’s kin stuff. Maybe the person portraying themselves like that is because they DID feel that way.
But I can’t draw something or infodump about my life and state, “by the way this is me and how i acted i’m not just disregarding the canon character i promise” every time because outside of kin spaces people don’t take kindly to fictionkin
because i acknowledge the canon character. whether or not i go “well that’s wrong and actually they [i] wouldn’t do that” it’s still somehow weaved into the canon character’s behavior because i still do my best to understand it
and the other issue is like, the whole “just make an oc at that point.” But i’m NOT an oc. I am the guy, even if i remember being vastly different. there’s not a point in drawing kin art if im not drawing ME, is there?
i just wish to not come across as someone who ignores the canon and thinks they know better about the media when they just really do not put the care to learn jack shit about the media they’re consuming

Urhm, let's see...
I've already said it, but O really want Banhammer, Boombox, and Skateboard to be black. And Zuka too, actually. I don't really get why people have said that making Banhammer black is racist or whatever. Like... yeah, he sucks, but isn't he law enforcement?? Like, in the grand scheme of things, he is the good guy. I mean, yeah, there are police, or at least guards, but Banhammer is pretty clearly the one locking people uo for the most part, even if he can't seem to get a good grip on the Lost Eye, I would assume that he's doing pretty well with everything else. Like, to be blunt, some blac people suck, some white people suck, some mixed people suck, some Latino people suck, some Asian people suck, etc. Like, why are people trying to act like making a bad character black in inherently racist?? Rainbeau is black, a believe, so is P. Bucket, and Sunburst Sword, and Curseshot, Dollmaker and a couple more I think, and none of those characters are bad, as far as i can tell, so why would it be racist to make Banhammer black, and why is it racist to make Scythe black? Sure, she's a main character and the rest aren't, but WHATEVER. We don't have to baby black people. Ig I can't say too much because I'm mixed, etc. etc., but yk. Broker is a horrible person, and a big part of the lore, a highly shown character, and let me repeat, a HORRIBLE person, no matter how silly he seems, and he isn't black.
Would I appreciate some more main characters who are darker skinned though? Yeah, of course. I don't was all of them to be black, take note. I honestly did prefer Scythe's design when she was lighter, but I'm not going to argue about that, because that was how she was always meant to look. Rq, I would like to make Traffic and Boombox mixed (or make Boombox black, idc), Banhammer black, Medkit mixed, and Skateboard black. That would make 5 out of the 15 main phighters darker skinned, and that isn't 'having black people take over' (something I've had said to me). To be honest, it would make a perfect amount of sense to have a good amount (at least 40-50%) of the characters darker, seeing as it is much the same in the real world (I am aware that this is an imaginative world wher race isn't affected by faction, but I'm just saying). Also, there are more black people (or at least what is considered to be black) than mixed, so I have nothing against only having one or two mixed characters and more black characters, because it just be like that. And before anyone says anything, yes, I am fully aware that black, mixed, and white are not the only races, but, if you think about it, they are the only SKIN tones that can be represented in a game that colors skin in grey-scale.
Basically, people aren't racist for makinng Scythe black or wanting Banhammer to be black, and I would really like to see some more black/mixed characters, but not 'taking over', at least a third or 40% would be nice. However, the devs are probably overworked as it is, and I'm not complaining too much, seeing as there ARE a reasonable amount of black characters, so I'm not upset, just... It's something that nags at the back of my mind in conversations like this.
